SPEAKER_04

Tee.

SPEAKER_00

Baum You. P T U. Pan.

SPEAKER_04

Let's go. Owls. Did I get it right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you got it right.

SPEAKER_04

Look at me. Five years. I know some things.

SPEAKER_01

They only play that once at the basketball games. It's it's a crime. It's it usually happens in the first half. Um I think we need to play that throughout the game. Yeah. Specifically at the end of the game.

SPEAKER_04

It's a great tune, as you as everyone just heard it.

SPEAKER_01

You know what they call that for the band? No. Did some investigating because I was curious once? They call that face. So if you ever like you know go like this, and you for it's an audio podcast only, so you can't realize you can't see me, but he just put his hand over his face. They call that one face in the band. Don't ask me why I know that, but I got curious.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I'm confused, but let's move on.

SPEAKER_01

Let's move on and welcome back our listeners to another episode of the Owl Pod. I think we owe everyone an apology because we've been missing for two weeks.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Has it been that long, Dave?

SPEAKER_01

It's been two weeks. I'm sorry. Things got busy.

SPEAKER_04

I'm apologizing.

SPEAKER_01

Spring break happened. Temple lacrosse won more games. And uh here we are.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And we have a special guest.

SPEAKER_04

Very special. Near and dear to my heart.

SPEAKER_01

I think by the end of the year, we might have everyone on your team on the podcast at some point.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, it's everyone that comes on, like, they're just exciting and very fun. So let's keep doing it.

SPEAKER_01

There's a lot of excitement around the Temple Woman's LaCrosse team, which we'll get into. Yeah. But if you click on this episode, it's probably not for either one of us.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh. Yeah. Hopefully, Miss Stan Cavage is listening.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. Do you want to do wanna introduce our guests? I know we we have some recapping to do. It's your teammate, I feel like.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, today I'm so honored and absolutely ecstatic to have Caitlin Stan Cavage joining us from the women's lacrosse team. Um, we're gonna get into her awesome personality and her story at Temple, but I'm excited to have her on, and she's an amazing teammate, so I think we're gonna have fun today.

SPEAKER_01

Looking I'm looking forward to it, but let's uh let's do what we always do.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, our Temple Sports recap.

SPEAKER_01

Let's get a little recap. And our first team is like fresh off the print.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean, we just finished watching them right now.

SPEAKER_01

I believe the three of us just watched the end of this game happen and then hit record on the podcast.

SPEAKER_04

That is very true.

SPEAKER_01

That'd be Temple Women's Basketball, who played in the first round of the conference tournament down in Birmingham, Alabama, against Tulane, and they picked up an overtime win to advance to the second round. It was a bit of a nail biter, to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_04

It was ugly at the end. They were up by 12 or 20, what'd you say?

SPEAKER_01

They were up by 12, and honestly, I had one of those moments where I just turned the game off. I was like, this one's over. I'm gonna go get ready for the podcast.

SPEAKER_04

They were in flow state. Like you were like, oh, this is a win.

SPEAKER_01

It's like this one's over, we're controlling the game. And then uh Amelia and Kaelin arrived and notified me that the game was in overtime somehow.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

So, I mean, it was a bit of a weird finish, you would say, but they got the dub.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they turned it on in overtime, so there was no question about it.

SPEAKER_01

They they sure did, and I think it'd be remiss if we didn't shout out the game before as well, because they had a pretty dominant home win to cap off their regular season. And that was coming off of a really tough game uh before that. I believe they were at South Florida and had probably their worst game of the season.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we're not gonna talk about that.

SPEAKER_01

We're not gonna talk about it. I'm just saying I think it was important that they came into the tournament with a little momentum.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, and picked up a win. And and now it's just it's just every day. They just gotta go play.

SPEAKER_04

It's every day, bro.

SPEAKER_01

It's every day, bro. They gotta go play every every day. Five days straight, yeah. If they want to win this conference and and punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament. Um, but hey, Kayla Turner, 31 points. We watched her down the stretch, and she's a remarkable. Yeah, I mean she's awesome. If she's not uh conference player of the year when it's all said and done, I don't know. I don't know what uh would you have to do to qualify. I think she led the conference in scoring this year. Yeah, she did.

SPEAKER_04

They said it during the game too much.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's she's incredible. So shout out to her, and and hopefully uh the Lady Owls will continue this run. Um Lady Owls. As I'm as I'm doing this, I'm trying to figure out who they will play next. Um But for some reason I'm not identifying the bracket. But next week we'll let you know. Uh and hopefully they they made a deep run. But congrats to them on picking up a conference tournament win. Let's talk men's basketball, who down the road, bit of a tough stretch to close out their regular season. They were on a six-game losing streak before they welcomed UTSA. Tulane.

SPEAKER_04

Well, 10 Bowman's basketball mid mid-pod update. They're playing UTSA tomorrow. So as the podcast drops, they'll be playing them at 2 p.m. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. UTSA, who we've played twice before, I think. Um yeah, I think men's basketball, it was really important last Thursday if they wanted to make the tournament, they had to beat Tulane, and they just came out and curb stomped them.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh, was that the one that they scored like 12 threes? They were on fire.

SPEAKER_01

They were up like 20 the whole game. Yeah. Uh which they needed because they had been struggling, they've been losing close games left and right. And then they closed out their season at Tulsa, who was at the time the number two team of the conference. And again, down the stretch, back and forth game, had a chance to win it at the buzzer, just off the back rim, and the owls fell just short, which made them the 10th seed in the conference.

SPEAKER_04

I think going into that game, they were seventh or eighth.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, it was it was a big game in terms of seeding. They already knew they were gonna be in the tournament, but seeding was gonna be important. Uh they'll play FAU. This is recording on Tuesday. They'll they'll start their tournament run on Wednesday against FAU.

SPEAKER_04

9 p.m.

SPEAKER_01

Look, here's the thing about this team. I think everyone who watches them knows they have the capability to beat any team in the conference. They played these teams close. They're playing FAU, who they played close two times. Um there's I wouldn't be surprised.

SPEAKER_04

Did they go one and one against FAU?

SPEAKER_01

No, they won 0-2. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

But hard to beat a team three times, Tesla.

SPEAKER_01

It's really hard to beat a three team three times. And if we win, we got a matchup with Charlotte, I believe. Or I made that up. That's not true. We play North Texas. I can fact check. That's what I usually do. I fact check. No, I I know it's North Texas. And I know.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I thought you just knew it was Charlotte.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no. No. No, it's North Texas.

SPEAKER_04

We also got to give a shout-out to our boy that we were just talking about before the pod, Darien Ford. He made all American conference third team and newcumbering team.

SPEAKER_01

So Yeah, he's had a great season.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think he's fourth in the conference overall for points per game.

SPEAKER_01

So he's No, he he's had he's had a breakout year. Yeah. Um we wouldn't definitely not be in the position we are without him. Um one other one other thing I will shout out is a couple years ago, if you remember, Kerbal was I think in a similar position, if not the same position.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I don't think they were 10th seed, but they were definitely they were pretty low.

SPEAKER_01

They might have even been lower because they just trimmed the tournament to only 10 teams.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

And they went on a bit of a run and they went to the conference final. They played actually UAB. I'm hoping they can do the same this year.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because this team's always the hope. This team, when they play well, when they play together, they're hard to beat. So we'll we'll be following that throughout the week. Hopefully, they're playing basketball into the weekend, that'd be a good sign. Yeah. Let's move on to Temple Men's and Women's Tennis, who found themselves in Florida last week.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. That's a new team for us, all right? I think we've only talked about them once.

SPEAKER_01

We've talked about them, yeah, once or twice. They are really getting their season rolling. Like I said, they spent spring break in Florida. They played a bunch of matches down there. The men went two and one. One of their matches was canceled due to the rain. Uh, a little bit of an individual shout out here. Oliver Aguilar went three and oh in singles and contributed to a couple doubles victories. Wow.

SPEAKER_04

Uh he's our temple owl of the week, as I think.

SPEAKER_01

He was the temple owl of the week. Um, so it's good that he got that recognition and glad to see that he's playing well, helping the owls pull off some victories. Um I'm I'm curious to see this team, this upcoming weekend. I believe they have a match with Monmouth. So I think they're gonna start playing some more opponents, some more competitive teams. That's right. So they play Brown and Monmouth, I believe.

SPEAKER_04

And when do they get into conference? When is like their peak season?

SPEAKER_01

So it's weird. So they're sorry, they just play Brown. I don't know why I said Monmouth. Um their conferences, they don't play any conference games until the tournament.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So because our conference is a little more southern, you would say, for most of the schools, we play a lot of schools in the Northeast, and then the conference tournament, uh, which this year is looks like it's on in Alabama as well.

SPEAKER_04

Um UI B racking up some money.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they'll they'll go there to to compete against the other teams in the tournament. So it's a little bit different. But yeah, so they're really getting their season rolling, playing some better teams. Their first home match, though, looks like it will be against Delaware uh next Tuesday. So hopefully the weather holds up. They can play on those new courts that they never get to play on, but that's been inside because it's been so cold.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's it's it was an interesting investment.

SPEAKER_04

And the women's team?

SPEAKER_01

Women's tennis went one-on-one. They only played two matches, so I guess a lot of time in the sun. Because I mean, two matches, they were there for like a whole week. Good for them. Um good for them.

SPEAKER_04

They had fun on spring break.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, you're in Florida. It's not to enjoy over spring break. Let's talk fencing. Uh they won their conference for the hundredth straight year in a row. Um, I just it won 30, 30 straight conference tournaments.

SPEAKER_04

Wow, that's actually crazy.

SPEAKER_01

NIWFA championships. Senior Natalie Adams Kim. She won the FOIL competition outright, straight up won it. You know, just as she does.

SPEAKER_04

We've talked about her. She's a big time winner.

SPEAKER_01

Posted impressive 45 to 11 touch differential. I mean, that that's incredible statistics right there.

SPEAKER_04

Don't know what that means, but it sounds awesome.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I think that means that you got 45 touches and your opponents only got 11. I mean, that's pretty good. She's go Natalie. And she beat up on uh NJIT's uh Stella Frias to clinch the gold medal in the final.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

Gold medal. Uh and then this past weekend they went to regionals, which is like weird, it's individual, so it's like forget the team, we're all gonna compete by ourselves.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. And uh that was NCAA regionals. NCAA regionals.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So the person to highlight in that competition would be Alexandra Pap. I mean, look, this last name.

SPEAKER_04

Paparotrapolu.

SPEAKER_01

You want to take a stab at that?

SPEAKER_04

That was my attempt. I don't know if it was.

SPEAKER_01

I'll take a stab. Papa Trapolupa.

SPEAKER_04

You added so many T's, and there's only one T in that.

SPEAKER_01

Papa Trappatulu. Well, apologies, but we'll just go with Alex Pap.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, if she's listening, sorry.

SPEAKER_01

But the point is she paced she placed fourth in Sabre, and I was talking to Justin Miller, who is their sport admin, and he told me that she actually would have qualified for nationals if she had like a stronger regular season. Which makes no sense to me. Like, what's the point of regionals? Like, that should be another one. So I think I think we gotta look into that. Maybe like a future foul. Yeah, it could be a could be a great foul one day. Um let's talk uh women's track and field who also had their conference tournament uh right before spring break. And uh someone to highlight would be our jumps, because Emily Beckman not only broke the school record, but she got first place in the pole vault in our conference, and Anara Schell got second place in the triple jump. So uh a lot of points coming from Temple Jumps led by Coach Kelly, and uh they did just an amazing job. They also had another um woman place in the pole vault, but Emily Beckman broke the school record and got first place in the pole vault, which is you know pretty incredible considering you know she just got to Temple and uh you know our conference for jumps, like it's a competitive conference, so um you know hopefully she can carry that momentum into outdoor. Um but it was good to see see some of the Lady Owls get some medals down at the door.

SPEAKER_04

Their conference tournament was at UAB too, right?

SPEAKER_01

It was because they only they had the only indoor track in the country.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Fun fact.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go men's golf. They're currently competing in the Palmetto Invitational in South Carolina.

SPEAKER_04

Um after a trip from to Puerto Rico, which I'm also jealous about.

SPEAKER_01

They went to Puerto Rico, they were in Florida. They just all the warm weather.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Can't relate.

SPEAKER_04

They brought it back up here though for us.

SPEAKER_01

So they sure did.

SPEAKER_04

But how did they do in that tournament?

SPEAKER_01

More to come on that. Uh I think they're struggling a little bit.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I'll I'll leave it. I'll leave it at that.

SPEAKER_04

You didn't look it up?

SPEAKER_01

No, I I I did look it up. I just it's it's not I think they're yeah, they're they're in last place.

SPEAKER_04

But it happens. You can only go up from there, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, like long season, yeah. Just gotta keep, you know, chipping and putting. Get better off the tea.

SPEAKER_04

On the green, chipping and putting, yeah. That's all right.

SPEAKER_01

Let's uh let's talk Temple Gymnastics. They had a double meet weekend last weekend. Uh they posted their highest score this past Saturday at Maryland with a 194.875, which is great because their season's coming up uh on the end here. They got their conference in two weeks, so you know they want to be scoring their highest right about now. Um they also had their last home meet uh on Thursday of last week, so they competed Thursday, off Friday, competition Saturday, so busy week for them. Um but overall team doing you know much better. Uh, you know, a couple a couple great performances. Um we'll start with Robin Dunn, who uh had a 9.825 on bars, which was I believe her highest of the season. Um or maybe just like one of her higher scores this season. And then on beam, they had they really had their best beam rotation um because they had Megan White score 9825, and Nikki Rengifo score nine eight, an event they were struggling on, and then um Amelia Budd and Nikki Rengifo both had a nine seven seven five on their four teams. So overall they're doing better. They got GW this week, um, and then their conferences the following week, so hopefully they can continue uh to improve. And uh let's talk Temple Lacrosse. I'll I'll hand the mic over.

SPEAKER_04

You're the one with all the stats. Do you have any that you want to highlight?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I I didn't really write anything down for you guys because I figured like You expect me to just remember all these things? Like, again, I'm not gonna talk about your script when you guys are here. So I just wrote down, here's what I wrote down eight and one in pre-conference play and USF Comes to Town on Saturday.

SPEAKER_04

You have asked me when USF comes, and I'm reading on your sheet that it says USF Comes to Town on Friday.

SPEAKER_01

Why does it matter what I say on my sheet if I did it?

SPEAKER_04

Because it's funny that you've asked me actually three times. US when does UF USF come to town?

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so what when was the last time we talked? What was the last game we talked about?

SPEAKER_02

The last game we talked about was UMass Lowell.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that wasn't okay.

SPEAKER_05

So since then.

SPEAKER_02

Then actually, it might be before then, actually.

SPEAKER_05

Did we not talk about Penn yet? Yeah, we had Did we not talk about Penn? Did we talk Penn? We did. So then Yeah, we did. Was the last team Townsend? Oh, here we go.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know if we did talk Penn, I'm not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_02

So Oh, maybe we didn't.

SPEAKER_04

That's probably our big our biggest win of the year so far, is obviously Penn. They were ranked 17th.

SPEAKER_02

Um we didn't talk about Penn.

SPEAKER_04

That was two weeks ago, I believe. Yeah. So we played them on a Wednesday. And after that. They're like Delaware State. Delaware State, yeah. That was like the kids come day, so that was kind of fun. There was a there was a lot of kids there. Right? Like Coach said 400 separators, but I don't know if that's the first one.

SPEAKER_02

I actually like gave them a tour before their game.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, were they excited to go to the lacrosse game?

SPEAKER_02

They're fired up.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I mean I would have been too. We we had a dominant win over Delaware State. I think that was 19-2. Then after that, we spring break, so that was last week. Towson. Who's it? Overtime victory, 12-11.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, who scored the game winner?

SPEAKER_04

Amelia Wright, number 14.

SPEAKER_02

Down 5-0 first quarter, I was like, whoa, whoa, on the head. It's bombing. It's like, whoa, what's going on?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, we had a rough start to that game, but obviously the owls, we're always clawing back no matter what the game is.

SPEAKER_02

Come back, kids.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, that was a that was a good win, you know.

SPEAKER_05

Maybe you're down by five in the first quarter. Yeah. And then, like usual, we just come back on the game.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, and I would say that was the trend for our next game. We just this week played Rutgers. We lost by one to them. That was our first loss of the season. But if there's such a thing as a bad loss, like that's what I would say that game was. Like we were also down maybe a couple goals at one point.

SPEAKER_02

It was a bad loss or a good loss?

SPEAKER_04

It was a good loss. We said bad. Oh, sorry.

SPEAKER_05

If there's such a thing as a good loss, it was that. We're saying we'd rather lose this game than like lose now, because now we're going to conference with USF started. So we were glad, not glad we lost, obviously.

SPEAKER_02

You guys feel like it took some of the pressure off of being undefeated? Like, was that like starting to like build up or not? Because I think you were the only undefeated team left in City of Life, honestly.

SPEAKER_04

No, because I think there's a there's a couple more teams. Yeah, really?

SPEAKER_02

I someone told me you guys were the only one.

SPEAKER_04

I would say there's something is undefeated.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, in UNC. We were the only seven and no team at one point because we kept having Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday Saturday games. Yeah, that was definitely tough on our bodies.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I think it within the course of four weeks we had nine games. Oh, February, yeah, we had yeah. That was crazy. And I don't remember any year previous to this being that much. Like usually like the third week, we would have just one game or something, but yeah, it's definitely been tough on our bodies. So we're excited to go into conference this week. Definitely learned a lot from Rutgers. Um, again, that was a game that we clawed ourselves back in, and I think everyone really thought, like, obviously, not on our team, but I think all the outsider views was like, oh, Ruckers is gonna come and murder them and like destroy their season. But like, again, we went down a few goals, we clogged back, then they went up, like it was just lacrosse was a game of runs, I always said, but um, is there any like defensive highlights you want to say about that game? Like, I feel like it was a lot of goal scoring. Yeah, we did 17 to 16, I think we're gonna be able to do that. Yeah, but I feel like you could say, like, there's a lot of lessons to be learned, and I hope that's gonna help translate into conference and just make us a stronger team.

SPEAKER_05

No, yeah, we've learned a lot already, even at that practice this week. We're already learning a lot from that game and like what we can improve on. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Um I think Towson and Rutgers both helped us learn a lot because those are definitely one of the both of the stronger teams that we've played, but like it's kind of a new style of lacrosse recently. Like, girls are just ripping the balls from anywhere. I think honestly. It seems like it's more of like turning into a little bit more of a guys' game where it's like, oh, you see the guys just ripping balls, but like they're shooting from further out of your game. Uh-huh, like taps the cards. They're shooting all over, and I think I mean our conference has some really strong attackers and midis that are gonna take those shots too. So again, good that we face some good out-of-conference opponents, but definitely excited about conference, and we faced USF on Saturday, they're coming topic.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, let's talk about that game for a sec, because for those of you don't know, USF just joined conference in lacrosse last year. They got a they actually just didn't have lacrosse before that. So I'm guessing you've only played them like once or so. Yeah, at USF. That's a hot game. What uh what are you looking forward to? Not just for USF, but in conference play as a whole, because obviously like pre-conference is important, you want to get a good start, but this is like this is probably really where your seasons determine. And uh I know your conference in most years is pretty competitive, so what are you guys hoping to establish on Saturday?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I'm excited to play them first out of the conference because they're like one of the not like one of the better teams in the conference, but they're really competitive. So I'm glad we're gonna play them first because it can help just establish our place in the conference. Um also like we lost to them last year, so I think everyone really has like a fire underneath them to beat them. Yeah. Um yeah, I'm excited for the game. Especially because it's home.

SPEAKER_04

I think they finished um in the preseason, but I want to say they were second. So everyone knows they're a strong team. I think overall they they bring a lot of like fight to the table, and it's gonna be like a gritty game for sure. So we're preparing really well, I feel like that. Um, this week. Um they are pretty similar, I would say, to Ruckers in some fashions. Like, even just play styles, like, don't want to give away our scattered thing. But there are some bigger parents we're seeing. Yeah, so I think it's honestly really good. Like, yeah, we just lost to Rutgers, but the fact that we can make high, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

No one's down really, like our Fonnie was even saying, like, she thought we fought the whole game. She wasn't like upset with the loss. She was saying, like, no matter what, we were still fighting in it, even towards the last minute.

SPEAKER_04

So oh, yeah, this is a finished out. Um, we were down one goal with what 40 seconds left. At one point it was seven before on the field because we were just like three green cards, one yellow card. Yeah, we were we were playing aggressive to the end. I mean, a minute of lacrosse is a lot of time. You can score in lacrosse in 10 seconds. So, like, I mean, even if you're 1400 shoot again, you can get the ball down the Field in less than 15 seconds. So we were fighting, and it was just kind of funny that it was 4v7 at the end. Uh yeah. But definitely excited for conference play to start and just to just to fight. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Sounds good. I'm looking forward to I'm gonna be at the game on Saturday. Looking forward to it. US not in nice weather, but I know. Maybe maybe I'll play your advantage. USF, they're playing in warm weather. They don't want to play in the cold.

SPEAKER_04

Well, last year when we played at USF, it was probably 80 degrees or something. Yeah, that's right. That was passed out for money. And they had the male cheerleaders that were yelling at us. They had a they had a big card. More harassing, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Did the male cheerleaders travel for the cross or no?

SPEAKER_04

I don't think so, but you could be like our male cheerleader this year. I'll think about it. So you can harass their team.

SPEAKER_02

I'll let you know. Get back to you next week. Alright, Caitlin. Let's uh let's dive into your story about how you got to Temple. You're a senior now. Um I am too. It's it's a weird feeling. I mean, now after spring break, part of me, you know, you just want to mail it in, but you're in the middle of your season. You can't do that, obviously. Um let's think, let's go back to high school. You're looking, I'm guessing you know you want to play lacrosse in college. Talk to me about how you got maybe introduced to Temple or how Temple got on your radar.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, for me, like recruiting in general, I knew I wanted to stay closer to home. Um, and I always like was very interested in Temple because it was close, because I'm from Garner Valley, which is like 35 minutes from here. Um and I had two alumni that went to my high school and also went to Temple. Um one of them was my coach. I mean, my coach in middle school, her name is Kara Stroop. She um was a big influence of me like going to Temple. Um I talked to her a lot like during the recruiting process and if she liked it there and what the school was like, and she talked very highly of Bonnie, our head coach now. Um so my like school for our year we couldn't have an official visit because of COVID, but when I would have like the virtual tours on Zoom, I loved the campus, I thought it was beautiful, and I liked how it was close to home. I liked the city, Philadelphia, like always grew up going to like a Philly sports game, so I knew the area. Even though my parents were a little hesitant at first because the temple sometimes I feel like has a bad rap at the location. Um but I've always felt safe here. But yeah, I had similar I have.

SPEAKER_02

I had a similar story, I guess. I also grew up like outside the city. I didn't want to go to school close to home though, so I actually went to Syracuse and then I transferred here, but like I had the same thing with my parents were like very iffy on temple. Yeah, and then like once I got here, I like I never spent much time, even though I'm like I'm closer than you are, I never spent much time on campus growing up. Once I got here, I was like, oh wow, like campus is beautiful, like it's it's really it's not what everyone has you thinking. Yeah. So what was your like first impression when maybe like your freshman year when you were living here? Was there a moment where you're like, oh like campus is fine, like I'm I'm gonna be okay here?

SPEAKER_05

Like even walking down like the main like area of campus, like there's actually nature in trees. I feel like people like like, oh, there's nature there in the city, but like I was actually very impressed with all the different spots you can sit on campus, and like you feel very safe too. Like I was just I was very impressed. Even like I lived in Morgan Hall freshman year, and I thought it was super nice. Like our dorms compared to other freshman year dorms where it's like the beds are right next to each other, and that's it. Like, we have a kitchen in Morgan Hall, it was so nice. No, I couldn't have to do that. And you have the beautiful view too. Um yeah, I feel like it gets a bed rot, but I was very impressed.

SPEAKER_02

And uh, you know, we had Sierra on a couple weeks ago. She talked a lot about she talked a lot about culture on lacrosse. I think she even said, like, you guys are closest team, Temple Athletics, you know, you want to claim.

SPEAKER_04

I would like to take that award, honestly.

SPEAKER_02

You can claim that whatever. The point is, whatever. Was that was that always the case for you, uh, even as a freshman? I know like as a freshman, it can be like pretty daunting, go to the NCAA, go to Division I sports, but having a strong team culture can probably make that process a lot easier. Your team always been like super close, or is that something that you've got?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I would say for sure. Even like coming in my freshman year, I was obviously intimidated by everyone. Um, I'm just like a shy person though. But like uh Bonnie makes sure that his sophomores like will buddy up with the freshmen, so you always have someone to talk to immediately. Because it might be intimidating talking to a senior, but you even could talk to a senior if you wanted to. Everyone was so open and inclusive and like made you feel comfortable on the team. Like I was like a little timid at first, but people like get you out of your shell and you get to like talk to a child. Yeah, no one would describe you as timid now for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I'm definitely not um quiet anymore, but um, yeah, there's always been a good culture on the team. I've never felt like there wasn't someone I could talk to, even as a freshman. Amelia's always been there too. Yeah. You could say I'm your role mom. Yeah, she would. I'm a year older. I remember freshman year. You would like come over and I painted your nails one time with my UB lamp, and that was like before we really like I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Was Amelia your buddy? Because you got you guys.

SPEAKER_05

No, mine was actually Aaron King, like for my official visit. Aaron King was my buddy, and then yeah, mine was Sabrina Martin, that's who I had for the official visit. So she was my roommate freshman, yeah. Oh, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_04

But I think that I mean, like a sophomore going to the dorms to get her nails spanted, like that's a such a funny random memory, but like I remember black nails, I painted them for that. Yes, and I feel like like other teams would be like, that's so weird. Why are you hanging out with like someone younger than you? But like there's never even questions like that. I mean, when I was junior, like I was going to dining hall with freshmen.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe I'm just oh that's that's not unique. Come on.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, but like Come on.

SPEAKER_02

I I'm all for team culture, but like I get my freshman swipe with me in the dining hall. No shit.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, but I'm just saying, like, that's like the culture pieces. Like, there's no like like our trainer, we've had we got a new trainer this year. She's like, I can't tell who's in what grade, there's no clicks or anything, and I think that really like I mean that's a shout out to Bonnie that she one recruits amazing people, but like that's a great like compliment for the team. Yeah, it's it's great for culture, and I think it helps us as like in practices and stuff, like it correlates to that. Like, you know, if like someone's out hustling you, it's because they want you to get better, it's not because they think they're better than you. Yeah, like and it's so good.

SPEAKER_05

And even at practice, like we make it a point to tell the underclassman if you notice the senior doing something wrong, just let them know we don't have like toxic behavior of seniority, which is a very like good culture to have.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's probably I mean, obviously Bonnie's leadership, but it's also probably has something to do with uh captains up. I mean, because like it it it has to like be passed down, you know. For sure. That's not something because like people, I mean I can speak from my experience, like you know, when freshmen come in, like sometimes they think they think they're it. Yeah, they they come from you know, they're the best. Everyone's the best in high school. Yeah, exactly. Then they come here and maybe they they think they're gonna have the same success and they don't, and that can be tough, but it I think that's where like the leadership of the seniors comes in. It seems like you guys have done a good idea.

SPEAKER_04

And grad students, seniors and grad students.

SPEAKER_02

All right, they're they're one and the same. You know, I don't I don't separate the two.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I have a degree. Come on, give me a shout-out.

SPEAKER_02

You don't just have a degree, you have a temple degree.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. Temple made temple proud!

SPEAKER_02

Temple made temple proud. That's right.

SPEAKER_04

That's another shout-out. Caitlin was in one of those Temple Made Temple Proud videos. And it played at a football game, didn't it? No.

SPEAKER_02

I I declined that.

SPEAKER_04

I immediately ran to the texted us.

SPEAKER_03

I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Really?

SPEAKER_04

Every every basketball game, she's like, oh, I hope it's me.

SPEAKER_02

What do you have to say?

SPEAKER_05

Like, um I was like, my name's Caitlin, I'm class of 2026, marketing major, and I'm Temple Made Temple Proud.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's cool. Yeah. I like when they get people that you like didn't know from Temple up there.

SPEAKER_05

Who was the guy last time? Oh, Meryl Reese. I was so surprised by that. Yeah, I did not know he went to Temple.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I didn't know. Love him. And then uh there's someone else.

SPEAKER_03

Love him. Love him.

SPEAKER_02

I hope he's listening. Uh yeah, Meryl Tood, the AlPod, the big AlPod guy. For sure.

SPEAKER_04

We'll send him this clip. We'll clip it for him.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we'll clip it. Um, you wanna you wanna pivot here?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Why don't you uh why don't you take this? This is this is your segment.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, well I yeah, this is definitely my favorite segment. Everyone, everyone knows that by now. Me and Dave have different favorites, but it's okay. Um today, we have a couple different names. We could call it the Stankavage superlatives, we could call it the temple temple takes, or as Dave wants to say that the T squared, but it's technically T cubed.

SPEAKER_02

Temple Squared Takes, or the Temple Temple, Temple, Temple Takes, as it's written on the board.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I wrote it on the board with four temples just for emphasis. Like, so basically, our theme today is gonna be temple. Um, I don't think we've talked about like temple and temple takes in a while, which is kind of funny.

SPEAKER_02

You know, all of our like temple takes recently have been, I feel like, external. You know, we did the winter Olympics, we've done college football, like we've done a lot of like outside temple. Let's bring it home. Yeah. Because all of us here are upperclassmen, seniors, or grad students. Yes, grad students. So I feel like we we're in a position to really dive into what temple has to offer.

SPEAKER_04

And give people the truth.

SPEAKER_02

And an honest, an honest, an honest opinion.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We got a lot of good stuff on board.

SPEAKER_04

I don't even know where to start. I kind of am excited about all of these.

SPEAKER_02

Let's start at the top.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, fine. I already know your answer for this, but okay. Let's do best coffee spot temple takes. Um, and for those that don't know, we just hit you with an overrated, underrated. And sometimes we start a very passionate argument about it. Um, this one will probably start an argument because you know Dave's gonna be coffee socks.

SPEAKER_02

I hate I hate to be that guy, but I I'm gonna have to like review the rules for temple takes because like this isn't like an overrated. There's no rules.

SPEAKER_04

What do you mean review the rules?

SPEAKER_02

We're not saying overrated and underrated. It's like this is your opinion. It's the best coffee spot, it's not overrated or underrated.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, true. It used to be overrated and underrated, but now we get too specific.

SPEAKER_02

We we get we get like a little bit more like it's it's more specific, like you said, but it's not like for this version, it's not gonna be like overrated and underrated.

SPEAKER_04

True, true. Thank you for calling me out. You gotta keep me accountable. Um, you want to start us off?

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah. Since you love coffee so much, what's the best the best coffee spot on campus? Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, you feel like you already hinted at this. I don't drink coffee. So uh this one's tough. I like Saxby's. Why? Because I don't drink coffee, but I eat their muffins.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, the muffins are good.

SPEAKER_02

Muffins are really good.

SPEAKER_04

The Fox students have unlocked the muffins. Like, they're so good.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, Saxby's in Fox is really convenient, right before class, right after class. I go personally, this year I've gone heavy chocolate chip, but I've tried that crazy. I've tried them all.

SPEAKER_04

Uh okay, so next temple takes we might have to do muffin rankings.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I got muffin rankings.

SPEAKER_04

How many muffins are there?

SPEAKER_02

I had the best muffin over spring break.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out to my freshman Miles Monroe. His mother made me a banana muffin. It was it was sick.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, this is crazy. No nuts in it, just banana.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I don't know what she put in it. It was fucking sorry, excuse my language. It was it was crazy.

unknown

It was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

She put some powdered sugar on it. I had like three of them on it.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I I have more on the banana muffin, but like we gotta move on. Yeah, like that isn't even a coffee.

SPEAKER_02

That's not great.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, um, everyone that knows me knows my f my answer to this. This is gonna be Richie's cafe, but like not the hut. Like the actual cafe, their coffee is unmatched, and I've been putting my teammates onto it, and I'd like to say it has really good reviews. So you put me on this fall. I went so much to do. Yeah, it's so good.

SPEAKER_02

That's a hype though.

SPEAKER_04

It is, but like it makes it even more worth it. And they they do like flavors of the month and stuff, so like it really gets you excited to try different things. So that's definitely my favorite.

SPEAKER_05

What about you, Caitlin? No, I agree. Richie's Cafe. Like really? Yeah, because usually I'll get Starbucks, but like doesn't count. Coffee spot on campus, but I would say Richie's Cafe specifically, like, because they have the fun flavors and like the seasoning. Snowday's good too. Have you ever tried the waffles? No.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I have. The waffles are really good. I haven't had one of those in May.

SPEAKER_04

Have you had a muffin from Richie's?

SPEAKER_02

Uh no, I haven't.

SPEAKER_04

We gotta do oh my gosh, we should do a muffin at each like spot.

SPEAKER_02

Show down.

SPEAKER_04

It's not a you you buy them, I'll just eat them. Okay, let's move on to the next one. Let's stay on food, I guess. Um, are muffins technically dessert?

SPEAKER_02

No, I don't think so.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. They're like morning dessert, but okay.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's just a morning. Morning dessert. Is a croissant a morning dessert? Like no?

SPEAKER_04

I would say yes, because it's sweet. Okay, okay, okay. Because it's sweet. We're gonna do cereal? Is that like yo.

SPEAKER_02

Yo.

SPEAKER_04

Oh gosh. Okay, Temple takes best dessert in or around campus. We might have a three-way time.

SPEAKER_02

I think there's only one spot. This is like a little I mean Yeah, there are other spots.

SPEAKER_04

Like you could get a Chick-fil-A under Morgan milkshake. Like, oh, brother has milkshakes. Like, there's definitely more than one spot. Why is everyone being weird to me?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, but like dessert specific.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, you're right. I mean, sure. There's there's one dessert spot. You think dessert on campus, everyone goes, oh okay, it's twist.

SPEAKER_04

And that's the answer. Twist. On Cecil B.

SPEAKER_02

Rip rip the twist order.

SPEAKER_04

Oh. Oh, this is tough though. Okay. So after our pen went, actually, Bonnie traded us to twist. So like everyone was trying different cyclones.

SPEAKER_02

That's like, that's like, that gives me like little league, like it was actually adorable.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we like clap them into the Rocky theme song.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was really fun. That team culture goes crazy, especially if it's involving ice cream.

SPEAKER_02

If the coach is buying ice cream right now, I bet the culture goes crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, but twist order. So recently, Pay and Flynn shout out her on my team. She she's really passionate about twists. She's been unlocking syrups in the cyclones, and it's a game changer. So I'm hoping to maybe put on more. I'm gonna spread the word. Shout out, Kevin. I'm gonna say that, and then I'm gonna share my order, and I don't do any of the serums. So it's you don't? I haven't tried it because I don't want to go that crazy. But I usually get a cyclone vanilla mix. Um I try to mix it up every time, but like usually my gojo is like Nutella, Oreo.

SPEAKER_02

Is this a cyclone?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it's so good.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't do those.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Are you, Ken, are you also in the cyclone? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It's a Tempo Lax like move.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, so I'll I'll give you some. So I only have ever gotten one thing from Twist. I get twist. That was so funny, actually. That was like so funny. Okay, what do you get? I'm sorry. So I get a full waffle, chocolate ice cream, banana, and Nutella.

SPEAKER_04

Banana? Is it like a sandwich or just the waffle in bottom?

SPEAKER_02

They don't, it's not like a flat for it. They fold it. So then like the bottom waffle gets soggy. Like full of like chocolate ice cream. My stomach hurts, really. It is sick.

SPEAKER_04

That sounds awesome.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no. Like, trust me, like, just try it once. Okay, mine.

SPEAKER_05

You gotta try a cyclone.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's like warm. Oh, it's it's on, it it hits every time it crushes.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Okay, mine, Cyclone, obviously, vanilla ice cream, Oreos, cookie dough with the cake batter syrup. It is life-changing.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna show some ignorance here. Is a cyclone closer to like a milkshake?

SPEAKER_05

It's like a DQ blizzard. Yeah, it's like a blizzard.

SPEAKER_04

They're just mixing it up in the in that thing. They're so good. Yeah. So you gotta try a cyclone and maybe one day me and Kate will try the waffle banana sample.

SPEAKER_02

What's the face for? I mean, how does that not sound good?

SPEAKER_04

No one knows I made a face except you guys. Alright, I'm calling you out.

SPEAKER_02

Like, what what doesn't I mean they can tell by your voice, but what uh what doesn't sound good about that?

SPEAKER_04

No, it probably is good, but like I'm like just not in the mood for that.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, maybe one day you will be, and you'll be like, oh shit, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, because I want to go to twist book. Okay, okay, let's move on. Because David's getting too excited.

SPEAKER_02

This episode doesn't get posted, it's because I just keep thinking about it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. So next one, let's do Temple Temple Temple Takes hangout spot on campus. Like, just like you're you're out with your friends.

SPEAKER_02

Not to be confused with the study spot, which we'll touch on later.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Hang out, hanging out on campus, where are we going?

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Well, now that it's getting warmer too, um, me and my fox girlies, we like to just sit outside of Fox without people at the tables. It's usually the Fox girls, though. It's like our spot. Um, but it's like those silver tables, like we love just sitting on people.

SPEAKER_02

That's a polarizing spot on campus, I feel like.

SPEAKER_05

What?

SPEAKER_02

It really is.

SPEAKER_05

I love just people watching everyone.

SPEAKER_02

That's why.

SPEAKER_05

It's a lot of interesting people. I don't get to see all the characters.

SPEAKER_02

If I can tell your people watching, like well, we're not specifically just staring.

SPEAKER_05

Our laptops are out, but we aren't doing anything. We're just staring at me. You just put the laptop out, it's like you're doing work.

SPEAKER_04

And you're talking with your friends. Exactly. Talking about practice, probably. Well, I was gonna sec at that spot, but you kind of just kicked me out because I'm not in the house.

SPEAKER_05

No, I mean. So, um have you sat there with us?

SPEAKER_04

Multiple times this year. Okay. Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_04

You know, I'm not in classes, so like I know I try to leave my house as much as possible. Okay. Um Caitlin, one time we also went in the Founder's Garden. That was fun.

SPEAKER_02

Founders Garden's great. Wait, that's a good thing. I'm sorry. Do you are you talking about like to the right of Fox when you walk out, or like just straight? Like straight. No, like you like go underground. Oh wow. Yeah, I know. I know.

SPEAKER_04

You don't like that spot? I just Oh wait, she's talking about straight. I'm talking about Founder's Garden over there, like where you like can take stairs down. Yeah, yeah. I'm talking about like nearly a little bit. And Conwell's like buried down there.

SPEAKER_02

I'm going back to her, like take. Because I'm just like, that's that's very like center of campus.

SPEAKER_05

It is. You have to see everyone, the sun's like shining on you. Yeah, what's your answer?

SPEAKER_02

That's a good question. I'm a top of Mazur guy.

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_02

I don't like going up there. Wait, really? Yeah. You you don't like that. That's for it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, like on top of like the food huts and stuff. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I was really confused what you meant. It's a it's I'm gonna be honest.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, is there not a name for that? Why can't I think of it?

SPEAKER_02

No, you're thinking Peri Beach, but I don't I'm like very anti-Pirry Beach.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, I think it's too hot on top of Mazur most of the time. And people are like laying on the table.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. I I I'm gonna get into that. I'm not done. The crowd up there, it's a different crowd. There's no doubt. Let's just go ahead and leave it that. Like, very different crowd than what you're getting outside of Fox. But the shade when you get a shaded spot on top of Mazur, it's great because you got the food right there, you get your food, you go up and hang out. Great spot.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I might change my answer to like sitting in front of like the Richie's bowl, especially if you just got food. That's a great spot to sit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And I'm I used to be in like the STEM building a lot, so it's also right next to there. And they got the new chairs and stuff.

SPEAKER_02

So I took class there once.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I took almost all my classes there. Who wins me? Okay. Um, let's go next. Best view. City view?

SPEAKER_02

Just best view on campus. This one's not, this is this is a good, really good question. This has your campus knowledge. Like, where is the best view on campus?

SPEAKER_04

Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw it back to 2021. Amelia living in the in the the Morgan North Norms. I was on floor 15, so I had a really good view.

SPEAKER_02

This is this is an L answer. I'm just gonna tell you that.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Um, I also like, now that I've been in Fox a couple times for the podcast, I do like going to the top of Fox. Um that has a really good view of the city. I guess my answer is bad. What's your answer, David?

SPEAKER_02

So what's your answer?

SPEAKER_04

I'm going with Morgan Morgan.

SPEAKER_02

You said that like so like upset. Because you're I'm going with Morgan.

SPEAKER_04

You're you don't like it.

SPEAKER_02

North or south?

SPEAKER_04

North. I was in I was on 15, I was facing the city. It was the most beautiful sunsets and stuff.

SPEAKER_02

That's a great view. Caleb. Caleb?

SPEAKER_05

I'm also gonna say Morgan, but specifically um the view from the laundry room. I remember like south. Yeah, I'd live in south. So I didn't have the cool, like, which floor laundry? I like specifically remember the laundry room like looking out, like, wow, it's so cool. You can see that.

SPEAKER_02

I took a turn that I was not expecting. Yeah, Morgan, but the specific laundry room at 3 p.m.

SPEAKER_04

on a Wednesday.

SPEAKER_05

I can't think of a spot on campus where I'm like, wow, it's a sick view.

SPEAKER_02

Where I paid 75 cents to do my laundry.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly. Lokie, the soccer field also has a sick view. Like whenever we practice.

SPEAKER_05

That is a good point, yeah. Like when we had an early city, there'd be a pretty snow.

SPEAKER_02

Oh when I'm running on the track and I see the city like from the back straight.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Especially at night, like that view goes crazy. Another, another great view. If you're walking on Pullet.

SPEAKER_04

Pull it.

SPEAKER_02

Pull it. Right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think it's a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

Alright.

SPEAKER_04

Keep talking.

SPEAKER_02

Uh walking, walking, uh, what would it be? West? You're walking west west. No, pull down your compass. No, I'm just saying, like, I'm trying to give the viewers. Walking west. You're walking west and you see the temple flag out of Sullivan. Alright, you guys are.

SPEAKER_04

Oh no, that is a good view. Everyone takes their grad pics there. You wouldn't know because you guys haven't graduated yet, but it's some fire pictures. How old are you? So you're also 22.

SPEAKER_02

I give some direction all of a sudden.

SPEAKER_04

Looking west to the gray building. Alright, next, let's stop talking about buildings. Let's go into a favorite food spot. Oh, this is a tough one. I already know your answer. You can start us off.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, I don't know my answer, so you see.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, you're not going to honey truck?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, no. I haven't had it in a while.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I've graduated.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. Favorite place? A tough one.

SPEAKER_05

Like favorite place, like food place here? Is that anywhere, I'd say. Mine's probably Master Walk. Where's Masterwalk for those that don't know? I think that's right near Pliables. Like near Maxi's.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, Masterwalk?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, oh, is that like it's right next to like I've never had that place?

SPEAKER_04

It's actually so good. They load on the plates.

SPEAKER_05

Like that's like my treat myself meal on the room.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you're about to say Subway. It's gonna really bother me. It's next to Subway. I know, that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, should I say that's the best food spot? Specifically the Cecil B one that got robbed like two years.

SPEAKER_02

If you said that, I would just like cut the podcast. The episode would just be over.

SPEAKER_04

We've already talked about me loving Subway on the podcast, and my dad, I think he he responded to the instant was like She only gets it because there's no line. I was like, well, last time there actually was a line, Dad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. No, he's he's spot on about that. Like, there's no line. So what does it say about it?

SPEAKER_04

Subway doesn't deserve the hate. Have you actually like gone to Subway to Yes, many times. It's also my air my go-to airport, man. That's con that's really concerned.

SPEAKER_02

I agree.

SPEAKER_04

I'm I'm ready to take the heat. That's why I'm so passionate about it. And I love I love a good sub. Okay. My answer, I don't have one.

SPEAKER_02

I have one. My favorite spot to eat food, and this is really controversial, and I just know it. It's old Nelson. Because, like, A, you can get just about anything there. And B, like, one of the one of the people that worked there, like, she just always takes care of it. You know what I'm saying? Like, she's just old.

SPEAKER_04

What do you get? You getting sandwiches there? What do you get?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I get they can get cheese. I get like their chicken pesto sandwich. It's so good. Like, she just always is like, oh, hey, David. Like, she just nice.

SPEAKER_04

She knows your the worker knows your better name.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know her name. She knows my name.

SPEAKER_04

Well, you gotta learn her name then. Wow.

SPEAKER_02

That's a good point. But no, I I also also love it because you can order ahead.

SPEAKER_04

Like they have an apple website.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you got the app. They're also like spread around the city. It's it's a great establishment, it's underrated. I know why people will go there, but like there's more than just what appears when you first walk in. If you know, if you know, you know. There's also there's also like just a lot of options. So like if you want to get something for lunch, you can get lunch. Breakfast, it where is it?

SPEAKER_04

It's right below Vantage, like next to Kava. Next to Kava. Wow.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's it's a really good one.

SPEAKER_04

So Caitlin needs a whole bunch of elements.

SPEAKER_02

Let me throw a recommendation out. You get old Nelson before your your bus trip next week.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I usually do. Before I travel, I go to old Nelson.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Good but good. Because also they have like snacks and stuff. They have like a bunch of like protein bars.

SPEAKER_04

We usually hit up 7-Eleven for our snacks. We should go there before you see you? Yeah. Oh yeah. 7-Eleven. That's where the carpool meetup spot is.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, do you think of a food spot?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to go with I'm trying to be a little different here. I'm saying the Mexican girl stand. Oh. The blue truck outside a sack.

SPEAKER_02

Um common tape, but that's fine.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

What's your go-to order?

SPEAKER_04

Is it Subway or is it the girl stand? I don't have a favorite. I love them both a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, girl stand, what do you go?

SPEAKER_04

I've the burritos are like bigger than your head. They're so big. Um, I've tried so much there. I got steak burrito, that's probably my go-to. But I also love their top. Sounds good.

SPEAKER_02

Mexican food sounds good, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Mexican, I have to go Mexican because that's my favorite like food genre. So yeah. Alright. Um, this one I know I'm gonna get even more heat for. Not that I have stopped getting heat from the floor.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I know I'm gonna get heat for this.

SPEAKER_04

I don't think I've said that yet on the podcast today.

SPEAKER_02

Whoa, whoa, rewind it, rewind it.

SPEAKER_04

You just wasn't about subway.

SPEAKER_02

No, for the view. You're like, I know I'm gonna get heat for this. Maybe I just made that.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, so next one we're gonna go study spot. I'll start us off because I'm very passionate about this place. This place fueled me through college. Like, I'm not still in college, oh my gosh. Um, tech center. That's easily best study spot. I love having the computers there, especially when you're doing like a paper or stupid chemistry assignments on Alex or what's that other one? McGraw Hill. But the tech center is amazing, and it's usually like very quiet, so it's definitely underrated. That's my answer.

SPEAKER_05

Um Kaylin doesn't study. Well, when I actually have to do work, I'll just go to the library on the fourth floor. Charles? Yeah. The only library. Yeah, I was like, I was like, wait, is there another library? Yeah, I just go there and I usually don't tell anyone because then sometimes one of our teammates, Emily, will try to find me in a library, and she's one of those people you do not want to study with, then she'll be a distraction. So, yeah, I just hide in the library.

SPEAKER_02

Fourth floor. Okay. My my favorite study spot is actually where we are currently sitting, which is Fox Breakout Room 236E. Emphasis on the E. This is my this is my room. Um it's been my room since sophomore year. Um and I love it. So this is where I come to study this room specifically. If this room for some reason is taken, I go to the top floor of Fox for the view that uh Amelia alluded to. That you hated on a couple takes earlier. No, I didn't hate on that view, I hated on the Morgan view. Um yeah, this this is a this is a good study. I like breakout rooms. I can't study with other people.

SPEAKER_04

So you get a breakout room just for yourself.

SPEAKER_02

Just for myself. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Nice.

SPEAKER_02

That's it. Alright. Wrap this up. Last one.

SPEAKER_04

Final one. Best temple uniform.

SPEAKER_02

Well, best temple uniform. You know what? This will test like how many, like how many sporting nuts are you going to? You know what I mean? Like are you supporting the owls?

SPEAKER_04

We are. All three of us are pretty big owl sports fans, not gonna lie.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I got two. I'll say, obviously, I have to do uh Temple Med's basketball jerseys. They're white jerseys, though. I like their white jerseys. With the wings on the fire, and then also um Temple Gymnastics, like just all their Leotards and Gyms that's what it's called, right? Yeah, yeah, we gotta talk, dude. They have so much. They're so pretty, and like they like just glisten and sparkle, and I love staring at them.

SPEAKER_02

I learned that like their Leos, their Leotards are like known in the NCLY to be like the best. Like they I had like people from other teams like tell them like your Leos because they have a new Leo for like every single one of them. Yeah, they have a lot. It's actually insane. If you know how much one of those costs, like, well, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I might have to change my answer now based on that. I'm I might go their um gymnastics, like they're I don't know what it's called, like the love of the city ones. They're like black, but you can tell they have the love sign on them and this the skyline and a bunch of sparkles. So I mean sparkles, those are definitely probably the best uniforms.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, I like I like they just wore a new Leotard this past weekend, it was like all red. It was sick. Uh they definitely have because just because they have so many different uniforms, you know. I mean, they have like black, they have cherry, they have white. So like I I agree they have some sick uniforms. Um, but actually, like I'm gonna go with the red football jerseys.

SPEAKER_04

The diamonds like around.

SPEAKER_02

I love like the color cherry on a uniform. And I feel like the white diamonds that are on the jersey kind of like make that uniform.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, what pants with it? The white pants?

SPEAKER_02

Um, no, I like all cherry.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay. I'm not a big fan of diamonds, really.

SPEAKER_02

Really? Yeah. I think I think it's more about what it like signifies. I agree with you.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I like the diamonds, but I think they have the word temple too small. That's like a weird thing. Like, I always don't like when it seems like like you want temple to be loud and proud, and I think for some reason on theirs, it just seems too small to me.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think like that's what they're missing. The diamonds on the helmet, too, are kind of sick.

SPEAKER_04

True.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but yeah, I hear you. Like the new uniforms, I thought they were cool. I I like the all-cherry look. That's me personally.

SPEAKER_04

That's some school progress there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's it. Alright, let's go to my favorite segment. Owl or Fowl. Owl. Something that is soaring upwards. Soaring upwards. Shout out. The American Conference mascot, Soar the Eagle. And the Fowl's what it sounds like. Um pretty easy. It's beautiful outside.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely gorgeous.

SPEAKER_04

My parents didn't believe me when I said it was 75 today.

SPEAKER_02

75 degrees last two days. Feels like we're in the middle of summer. Um, it's amazing. Sun's out, you know, vibes are up. Just people, you know, campus like multiplies when the sun comes out. I don't understand it.

SPEAKER_04

But yeah, I mean, the snow in our field still hasn't melted, which is crazy. But that just shows how bipolar the weather is here.

SPEAKER_02

I I I think it's insane like when you walk out of class and it's sunny out, and just the amount of people that you see compared to when it's not, I don't understand.

SPEAKER_04

Now you'll see Caitlin walking out of class and she'll be sitting out. She'll be sitting right outside the floor. She's right outside the floor. Staring.

SPEAKER_02

It is so bold. I don't know why. I just feel like that spot is so bold. Whatever. Um, yeah, sunshine. Great. Amazing. That's okay. Foul. Um, we debated this one, let me tell you.

SPEAKER_04

Um it's always a good sign when it's hard to think of a foul, you know?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Sure.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, you go, your foul one.

SPEAKER_02

My foul, I mean, I'm gonna keep this short because I could go on for a while. But the the mid-major programs, such as Temple, um, are really just taking a hit with this NIL stuff and looking at the March Madness tournament, they're just getting a little bit of the short end of the stick, I believe, because you know, in the past, you might have had, you know, a couple teams for the American Conference make the N subway tournament. You know, this year, for the men's at least, I think the women's might send two. They're only gonna get one team, the automatic qualifier. And just because, you know, NIL is really hurting college basketball with players being able to transfer after a year. Um, we've seen this with Temple Men's basketball year after year. They've been losing a lot of players because you have a good season, someone else will pay you way more. So I just think the current landscape of college sports is really hurting the mid-major programs, such as Temple, and it's it's sad to see. And I think we're reminded of that when uh March Madness rolls around and there's not many mid-majors. And I think that also just you don't get as exciting of games because you know, part of part of the joy of watching March Madness is seeing the underdog, seeing the Cinderella team, upset, the big, you know, blue blood or whatever. I think we're just getting less of that, and uh, you know, it's disappointing. It's a foul.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Good thing you kept it short. Okay, that was a good that was a good information, good length.

SPEAKER_02

You're so mean.

SPEAKER_04

I'm trying to keep you on your toes.

SPEAKER_02

Sure do. Um, alright. Well, that was a fun episode.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it was.

SPEAKER_02

Long episode, fun episode. Good luck this weekend.

SPEAKER_04

Thank you.

SPEAKER_02

Bulls come to town, show out on Saturday, but don't go to the field on Friday, dude. Or 12 p.m.

SPEAKER_04

12 noon.

SPEAKER_02

Noon, what do they call it? Not a kickoff, what do they call it? Like tip off.

SPEAKER_04

Draw? Yeah. Like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Noon draw.

SPEAKER_04

That just doesn't sound right. Noon draw.

SPEAKER_02

Game starts at noon.

SPEAKER_04

You could low key say tip off now. No. Well, the ball is getting tipped.

SPEAKER_02

Game starts at noon on Saturday. Go watch the owls. Yeah. First conference. Start of the conference.

SPEAKER_05

Let's go out with a bang, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Kayla, thanks for joining us.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you guys so much for having me. Appreciate it. It was our pleasure.

SPEAKER_02

We'll we'll catch you guys next week. Go out.

SPEAKER_05

Go out.
