SPEAKER_00Yeah, made a public post of the day or never complain about not getting any rain. Holy cow. That's incredible. It was just another accidental podcast, but I you know, it was right after the U.S. open. And I think people need to hear that. Yeah, here's the deal. You get around people like I talked about Jack Nichols a lot because he was clearly the most famous, the greatest golfer of all time. Just once they got into hunting camp, just normal people.
SPEAKER_01One of the guys.
SPEAKER_00I'm telling you, it was unbelievable what that does to everybody.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I feel bad for people that didn't have that opportunity. And he you know what I took away from that more than anything is he was just the greatest dad. And if you look back on some of his records, you know, 18 majors. And here's crazy thing about him. If you're not a guy person, bear with me. 18 majors in 19 majors. So he was a shadow two away from his record. And he did all that with the same bride, four kids, three boys and a girl. And that's what they talked about when we were in camp about how he made the football games and he made the dance resistance. And he he he built his whole guy schedule around keeping that family tight.
SPEAKER_01That's not easy to do with four. I imagine it's hard to do with two.
SPEAKER_00But I how impressive is that? It's just like I'm telling you, and look, yeah, I'm skewed a little bit, the best people on the planet, and there's a lot of them. Are all uh outdoorsy kind of people. I'm just that's just my take. And if they weren't uh you know, if they weren't exposed to that, then they don't know, so you can't blame them. But you know, day in and day out, and that's kind of where we live. Those people that are outdoors, they're just very special.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would agree with that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we got a pretty special one coming up. And it's ironic. And I gotta tell y'all this story. We're at we're at we're at we're at my house. We're not in a camel cave. We've got a lot going on out here, but that's that exact spot, this caramel is where we recorded the very first pistol of podcast.
SPEAKER_01In the dining room.
SPEAKER_00If we do this, we've got to do four, five, or six so we can roll out a bunch at one time. And I was just thinking about it and I was sitting there on the couch and I was saying technology. And we had the stuff took because we had done a practice. Yeah, make everything work so the stuff technology is trying to like hey, about to launch a podcast. We'd love for you to be the first guy. I don't even know if we put him first, but I was just trying to get into an open window. And he said, Man, I would love to do that. How about 15 minutes? And I wouldn't tell you, I said, hey, we're fixing to do a podcast, and you just stopped. And he said, With home, I said, take looking, and you turn white as a ghost.
SPEAKER_01I'm telling you. Well, because the podcast here, it worked. But it worked with me and you have microphones. I've not I'd never hooked up my cell phone and done a phone in it. Like I hadn't even tested that. And I wanted to throw it up because it was ill of all people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, a baptism by fire.
SPEAKER_01That's the only way to do it, isn't it?
SPEAKER_00It is so popular. It still is. And it I'll I'll start posting pictures of Ted Newton when I get ready to promote this, and there'll be some haters come on there seeing the internet, and I was like, Is it what I think? Man, you just don't know him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I watched Jack Nicholas on TV my whole life. And I was like, holy cow. And when I got to meet him, he was just nicer than you can be. But I learned stuff about him in hunt camp I didn't know from watching TV.
SPEAKER_01That made you like him even more.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I can tell you this. Love him or hate him, there is not a better warrior for our lifestyle, our country, our conservation, our wildlife than Ted Newton. He is absolutely relentless and so well spoken now. Like he said, he he comes at stuff with a crowbar instead of that. But it's like, holy cow, man, I'm such a fan. And I'm so glad he's on our side. Worst nightmare I ever had. I woke up in a cold sweat one night because I was having an argument with Ted News. You are not gonna win any argument with him. With that said, and I promised that uh Linda who runs off his schedule, I wouldn't keep him long. There's a lot going on. And I mean he does Fox News and he's got all his own stuff going on. But we are and I'm gonna touch a couple of things with him. I want to ask him about his camp for kids and all that kind of stuff. But the reason I'm calling him is to get his take on being inducted into the legends of the outdoors hall of fame. And that's a big deal. And I've heard him talk about it, and it's like that means something to him. I mean, MR James, Fred Bear, Bill. I mean, all these people are in the and uh he seems to he seems to be flattered. He may not be flattered. I'm sure there's not many people that impress him, but uh I bet his family's real proud of him. I just kind of want to talk to him about that and he said, let's do it. So like he says all the time, doing it in France.

SPEAKER_04I'm doing so good at stupid because I improvise, adapt, and overcome. How about you?
SPEAKER_00I'm great. I can't believe I'm talking to the author and owner of the greatest guitar riff in the history of rock and roll.
SPEAKER_04Boy, if you think they're great, you should see them from my perspective. I play them every night on stage, and I'm absolutely intoxicated by what little Richard and James Brown taught me. I'm having so much fun with my music, Ronnie. I think it makes me a better bow hunter.
SPEAKER_00Well, I first off, I gotta tell you, I thank you for your time, and your team's unbelievable. Linda, Linda, I told Linda, who works for you, that when when Donald Trump gets done, we need to have her running the whole country.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, you and I have known each other for a long time, and uh life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and certainly the American dream is all pivotal on the quality of people you surround yourself with. And you're talking about my personal assistant, Linda Peterson, for 37 years. By the way, Ronnie and everybody a fistful of dirt. Everybody give me a moment of silence for my personal assistant, Linda Peterson, because she works for me 24-7, 365, 37 years. And she's like my manager, Doug Banker, my kids, my wife, Shimayne Ronnie, my band, my crew, my hunting buddies, Paul and Jim, my guides at Sunrise 8. I'm telling you, if you just spent time with the Nugent family and our team, and like at Mossy Oak, we we have the best people in the world around us, so we got to be careful we don't get spoiled and think that the rest of the world is okay.
SPEAKER_00Hey, I I'm trying to stay in that plus column, buddy. I promise you this.
SPEAKER_04You are, you're in the asset column. There's only two columns, the asset column and the liability column. You're doing fine.
SPEAKER_00Good. I I'm glad you approve. The re the main reason I'm calling, and me and Lauren come up with just a few questions because I know your time's limited. And the last thing you want to talk about is accolades, because you don't need any. I've seen them in your garage, your room there. You get more awards than anybody on the planet. From law enforcement and military and stuff like that. But you're you're about to be inducted into something special to me, the legends of the outdoors hall of fame. And I know you're going into the Michigan Hall of Fame, too, but I've heard you talk about it a couple of times, and it it feels like to me, as famous as you are, and everything that you've accomplished, that's very special to you.
SPEAKER_04Well, yes, you know, we call it the spirit of the wild, don't we? There is something magical, miraculous that God has created that is really gratifying and inspiring watching it on the Discovery Channel. But when you when you actually live it hands-on conservation, and to be you know, celebrated and thanked for the the small role that I play as our founding fathers and the leaders were Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, Jeremiah Johnson, you know, EC, Fred Baer, Howard Hill, Ben Pearson, uh, certainly you guys at Mossy Oak. We all fight for God's miraculous science, hands on conservation. So it is a momentous occasion. I made a statement a moment ago that my guitar playing actually makes me a better bow hunter because I get all my outrageous loud stuff out of my system. And so it helps me be very quiet. But you're talking about the outdoor legends hall of fame. If you really look at the heroes that are in those halls of fame, I'm humbled, I'm honored, I'm further inspired. If I was dangerous before they nominated me, I'm going to be even more dangerous now. Um because I know that there's really ugly evil forces against conservation, against God's miracle, against God. And those of us in the great outdoors, that's really what we're celebrating. And not just personally and selfishly, but in defiance of the scam, the evil of the animal rights and the anti-nature, anti-hunting, and anti-God's miracle, scam artists that are out there. So, yeah, it it is great to share that uh literal and figure of campfire with the other legends of the outdoors, but you're you're a legend of the you're probably in the same hall of fame that I am. And if it's going to make a special one just for the Uncle Ted and Campfire. But yes, it's a special moment, but my family is very proud of me and my buddies, my hunting buddies. I know you are, and I do it in the name of my fellow sporters. I do it in the name of my dad and my brothers and my sons and my daughters and my grandkids, and certainly my wife Shimaine, who's in the ultimate hall of fame, because she she can promote and influence people to be conscientious stewards and conservationists because she has a little have you noticed she has a little more dainty approach than I do? Very very effective. So I I'm honored. I'm really moved by it, Ronnie.
SPEAKER_00I was thumbing, I went to your Instagram page and I was fine- I'm gonna steal some pictures of you to uh post promoting the podcast next week. And the first one I stopped at was a picture of you and her and one of those ATVs sitting there, and the smiles were like the biggest thing in the photo. And I I told Lauren, I said, those people are actually really happy. And and the people that say bad things and make bad comments, it's all envy. And you know that. That's what got the devil kicked out of heaven. Was yeah, that's a terrible trait. But y'all have got to be among the happiest people I ever follow.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, Ronnie, uh, it's life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Last time I checked, and that's why we told King Jordan, drop dead. Uh King George would ruin people's and control and enslave people. So the fun isn't it, isn't it uh very special? 250 years ago, guys like Ronnie Strickland and Ted Hugent stood at the Concord Bridge and said, you know, King George, I don't think so. You can't tell me what to say, you can't tell me who to worship, you can't tell me I can't have a bow and arrow and a sword. You can't tell me anything because God gave me certain inalienable rights, and we're gonna write them down in the Constitution and shove it them in your face. So that's really a celebration 250 years ago. But yeah, um, those are real smiles. I mean, I've got my 13th grandchild, River Wolf Nugent, Rocco and Belgium, my 13th grandkid, and he's already spent a lot of time in the outdoors and in canoes and at the rock and roll stage. So, yeah, we're we again we we improvise, adapt, and overcome with truth, logic, and common sense. And it's not mysterious, it's not ambiguous. If you think and you ask God for direction on a daily basis, in my case hourly, um truth, logic, and common sense is self-evident truth. It's self-evident logic, it's self-evident common sense. So I can reflect at that altar. We've known each other a long time. I've always been like this because this is how my mom and dad raised me. And the emphasis on accountability in Deer Camp with a bow and arrow, um, it literally, there's no more powerful guiding force for a true North Compass setting, and that's the that's the route we take.
SPEAKER_00Amen, my brother. I gotta I want to get this out of the way first, not that it needs to be gotten out of the way. But one thing we don't talk about enough on my end, it's it's just being followers, is Ted Nugent's camp for kids. I don't I I'm sure people know about it, but I want you to kind of tell me, if you would, how that got started, where where you're at right now, and maybe give people an idea how many kids you actually touch.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, thank you for that. I I think if anything I've accomplished in life, that's the most important of all, other than raising my family and and being in the asset column, is just pass it on. That's what Fred Bear said to me in uh on October 10th, 1987, at his Grousehaven camp in uh outside uh Rose City, Michigan. I got to hunt with him all those many years, and I he was such a powerful, positive, educational, witty, wisdom force in my life that he told me that he he knows I promote bow hunting and archery and conservation differently. I promote it, I promote it with more of a crowbar than a doily, um, because in the rock and roll world, there was all the dope and all the getting high and comfortably numb insanity that I pushed back against by really being militantly clean and sober. And on that October day in 1987, Fred had his oxygen tank um uh pulled behind him, and he put his right hand on my left shoulder, and he said, Ted, you're a good man. You're you're influencing young people like this industry, can't imagine because of the power of the music and your your outrageous energy level. That's what he told me, Ronnie. And you've seen that. And so he said, keep doing what you're doing. Don't don't listen to your critics. They could they couldn't promote archery or the mystical flight of the arrow or being clean and sober to as many people in a lifetime as you do on an average night on tour. So he was very, very emphatic about that. And then that next March, of course, our hero died. And I I didn't really know that day in October of '87, um, I knew I was going to continue to promote and crush the anti's and and and expose the indecency of anti-hunters and animal rights people. But when he died and that song erupted in me, um, I realized that it can't just be radio interviews and new and articles and statements from the stage. So we started a TED Music Camp for Kids, 501c3 nonprofit, 100% volunteer charity. That next year in 1989, Shimaine and I started it. And now it goes on for 37 years in Iowa to the Iowa Bow Hunters, God bless them, the Nebraska Bow Hunters, God bless them, the Colorado Bow Hunters, God bless them. Over there at the National Fiography Association. We started out here in Michigan with some fellow sporters. And 37 years we've graduated tens of thousands of young boys and girls to aim small, miss small with the arrow gift of life from God. And Ronnie, we're now we have parents bringing their young boys and girls to my Ted Nugent camp for kids that were originally young boys and girls that's coming to camp. So if people would go to Tednugent.com, they can see what we're doing. I'd like to thank Paul Malone and Roger Bowen and Carol Ashworth and Kevin Mark and Ward Parker and Bruce Call and the army of volunteers that make the Ted Nugent camp for kids really impact the spirit and the guiding light on a true North Compass setting to these boys and girls. So I there I'm I'm proud of a lot of stuff. You've met my family, but boy, am I proud that they're taking what Fred Bear taught us and they're teaching their kids and their grandkids. So it's really a super, super positive success.
SPEAKER_00Man, if everybody had just a little bit of just a thimble full of that enthusiasm, we'd all be in a better place. I got some questions I want to ask, because I'm I'm well I could talk with you all day, but I was watching one of your things on YouTube the other day. We need to promote that. Everybody needs to follow you on YouTube. And it was uh you did a Ted's favorite gun segment and you had a lever action 10 millimeter. I never even I never even seen one. I didn't know they made one. And Lauren said, ask him like Ted's got to have one gun, one rifle from now on. What would it be? Because I know you're you're a gun enthusiast, although you're a bow hunter. And I I just anyway, you're gonna cost me some money because I'm gonna have one of those 10 millimeter lever action beliefs.
SPEAKER_04Well, the 10 millimeter yeah, the Ronnie, the 10 millimeter came on after the terrible uh FBI Miami shootout in 1986, where they thought they were undergun, so they got it home to Colonel Jeff Cooper, the master of the 45 uh Colt pistol, to develop a more impacting, uh terminally effective uh handgun round. Which is a a bit of a misguidance back then. It really wasn't about uh ammunition or terminal velocity, it was more about tactics. But being that as it may, he came up with the 10 millimeter, which is a 40 caliber uh uh cartridge doing a 180 grain bullet, doing roughly 1,300 feet a second, sometimes hotter, sometimes slower. But I've used the hunting since I got that first 10 millimeter way back then. I'm a big fan of the round. Many, many more people are discovering the effectiveness, especially in bear country. It's the number one carried handgun in Alaska in bear country. And Marlin is coming out with a stain has stainless steel lever section 10. I've got a Banshee 10 millimeter AS, a whole bunch of 10 millimeter guns. And uh Remington now makes an incredible uh 200 grain semi-jacketed uh core lock round in 10 millimeters. So it's really a great round. But regarding the number one uh rifle that I would if have, first of all, I wouldn't limit it to one. People say if you if you only have one, I break the rule. I've got my favorite 100 rifles right now. Um and I I really love the AR. I've got the AR in 243, uh, I've got the AR in uh 300 blackout, and of course the uh 556 and the 762, but I really love the AR platform because of its performance, functionality, and uh reliability and the ballistics of the various calibers that it comes in. So I shoot my AR, I train with it as a sheriff deputy in Lake County for 43 years now. Um I carry it with me everywhere. You know, we're in a very treacherous time in America right now, where unfortunately our government had turned on us and they opened up our borders to obvious uh haters and jihadists. I mean, there are more enemies coming into America under the uh Obama administration and the the Biden administration, where they literally come through the border illegally and chant death to America. So I think the most important statement I can say about the sanctity of life. Is that you should never be unarmed and helpless because evil people love easy victims. So at least carry a handgun and know what you're doing with it with adequate ammunition. But more and more of my friends and family now, we carry a rifle everywhere we go, just in case. It's better to be prepared. We have a fire extinguisher in every truck, but we've never had a fire, if you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I don't think there'll be anybody jihadist showing up at your ranch, either one of them. Just that's my that's my take on it. You would love this. We had a party out here on my farm the other day. My two of my grandsons, all three of them, they brought their youth pastor out here, and guess what they did all day? They got ARs. I could put a new piece of plow up, and it looks like it's been hit by termites for a decade. They had more fun with barbecues and all that America. That's just all fantastic. My favorite 10 millimeter story and telegraph and opening up the code. It was the most incredible week everything. It's almost beyond belief to me. They have got a signature on some kind of proposed legislation to actually ban hunting, farming, ranching, and all that. Even in your wildest dreams, can you believe that's gonna that that may even come to a vote?
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, the the enemies of uh America that are entrenched, and I I I know blanket statements don't usually uh uh hold up, but this one does. Uh the Democrats really hate freedom. They hate God's miracle, they hate those of us that optimize the quality and health of God's miracle and the great outdoors, ranching, farming, the production of food, hunting, fishing, and trapping. But the other side has been so emboldened by the corruption in the Democrat Party that they actually think that X-habitat will support unlimited growth into the future. And of course, we all know that the reason God created a fall winter hunting season is to make room for next year's fawns and calves and cubs and uh and polts. You have you morally, you scientifically, intellectually, morally, and spiritually have an obligation to balance the herds and flocks every fall to make room for God's next miracle production. That's not a Ted Newton hunch, that's not an opinion, that's not a presumption, that's God's science. So the other side, the Democrats and the Liberals, and those that think they're comfortably numb, which is actually uncomfortably dumb, they actually are so emboldened that they are proposing the end of nature. The end, they're gonna they're gonna ban nature and food. So, so this is like a beach ball on a T-post, and I got a Louisville slugger that's corked, and I'll just have Mike Tyson knock that ball out of the atmosphere. But they're so stupid and so dishonest and so immoral, the other side. Anyone who's against hunting is a bad, bad person. In fact, I did uh Laura Ingram on Fox the other day, and she asked me, and I know what she was doing, she's a smart lady. She said, Ted, when you're ready to pull the trigger on that beautiful animal, do you ever decide you're not going to? And I said, No, Laura, that would be irresponsible. That would be actually immoral and cruel to not harvest that buck or that bull or that bear or that hawk because we have to make room for next year's production. So I've never hesitated, but I also followed up, and you and I've talked about this, and this is what Mossy Oaks represents. When we approach that animal, yes, we high five because we really practice hard to make the humane kill. And when we kneel down, we we touch that animal as a sacred gift. And I call that the prayer for the wild things. So we don't hesitate to harvest that necessary surplus, but we do thank God for providing the opportunity. Like the great chief, I think it was the chief of the Apaches who uh blessed me with a uh a headdress made of eagle feathers. I think that's a felony, by the way. Anyhow, he he gave he gave me a headdress and he stated, God has already given us everything we need. You must respect it and use it properly. That's what hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, ranching, resource stewardship, planting trees and harvest, that's what the real nature miracle demands. So that's what I've always promoted. And I know, I know you're smiling on the other end of this phone, Ronnie, right now, because you know when I make these statements, those that don't know better because they were not educated properly by the American anti-education system, you can actually hear the necks creening, the the forehead, the brows furrowing, and the squinting. When people listen to me talk like this, they go, Wow, I never heard it like that. That makes perfect sense because it's not my idea. I've been doing this for 78 years. I am God's humble servant learned by his hand in his wild ground. It's it's self-evident truth, and I think that's what all conservationists, all hunters, fishermen, and trappers, we've got to be more outspoken. Never turn your back on the nastiness of the other side. Always carry yourself proud with good posture and speak up. I do this on global media all around the world for the last 60 plus years, and I think I think that's why you and I have a love affair. That's why um I'm being inducted into the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame and the Legends of the Hall of Fame, is because I got a big mouth, and I use it to promote real conservation.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you do. I had a lady sitting by me in an airport one time years ago, and we've been trying to film an elk hunt when I had some malty oak on, and she couldn't stand it finally, and asked me, was I hunting? And I just said yes. And she went on her tangent there for a while about how cruel and all it was. And I went down the road, you know, about how long have you been you know uh a vegetarian and all this stuff? And well, I'm not. So you eat meat, and I you know, we and I and I flash it. I didn't do a technique, but I was called. And when I got through, well, that's different. And you may not ever you may not ever win that argument. I want to ask you. Ted, if you are constantly in this battle, do you think in Ted's heart that the worm's turning a little bit? I feel like it really is. Because I'm around a bunch of my grandkids and their buddies, and they seem to be so logical and they look for information and they don't just follow anybody. They're they're not cheap. Do you think the worm's turning a little bit?
SPEAKER_04Well, we can just look to the current commander-in-chief to prove that the world's getting smarter, more Christian, more constitutional, more conservative, and more conservation. People are waking up. There is a huge movement that is like a tsunami of field to table because nobody trusts the FDA, nobody trusts the USDA, nobody trusts the CDC, nobody trusts the ATF, nobody trusts the IRS, nobody trusts the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. We have turned the corner identifying the indecency and fraud that runs amok in Uncle Sham's bureaucracies. Now, to clarify, with the good man, I mean the best president in our lifetime, Donald Trump, he closed the border. He's identifying the thievery by the IRS and the immorality and waste of our tax dollars. So I see a huge spin. And remember, everybody, this is so much fun. Everywhere I go, people come up to me from every imaginable walk of life. Young people, old people, white people, black people, red, they come up and they get kind of bug-eyed and they go, Mr. Nugent, I watched you on Joe Rogan, or I watched you on Spirit of the Wild, or I heard you on the rock and roll radio. I never knew about habitat. I never knew that clean air, soil, and water can only come from good wildlife habitat. So thank you. And all the hunters, I mean, they'll literally get really teary-eyed because they hear me. Because again, I got a big mouth. I'm what the founding fathers wanted all Americans to be, to stand up. When you see stuff that's wrong, stupid, immoral, and against the Constitution and against God's miracle. Stand up. So, yes, Ronnie, I believe in those arenas of conservation, um, Christianity, uh, constitutionality, conservation, uh uh hands-on lifestyle. I think there is an awakening going on. Now we just got to get some accountability with our tax dollars and make sure that that wildlife is always in the asset column. For example, the the wild horses, those are not, those are not mustangs. There's no mustangs. Those are feral horses destroying bighorn sheep habitat. They're invasive species. Uh more and more people are waking up that you should never there should not be a no-hunting zone in the United States of America. Those are our animals. And Uncle Sham should never take our tax dollars to hire some goon to do what we the people own. So these are the these are the wake-ups that I see waking up across the board. And even, you know, anti-hunters in New Jersey finally got a bear season, they sided with the bear hunters because Fifi was getting eaten. No matter how many kitty cats they bought, they ended up being bear bait. So, so there's a real um awakening to God's nature and how it works in a certain way. And again, I have an album and a song called Tooth, Fang, and Claw. And do you know until that record came out back in the 70s, no rock and roller had ever heard the term tooth, fang, and claw. That describes nature. It's not boo-boo and bambi, it's tooth, fang, and claw. So I think there is an awakening, but our job is not even close to being finished. We need to push. That's why I thank everybody, Ronnie, and you at Mossy Oak, everybody supports the Ted Newton Spirit of the Wild show for 37 years. People are waking up because I get a lot of non-hunters, a lot of rock and rollers, a lot of people that are interested to see what this big mouth is going to say next week. And they listen to me. And because I make sense and I show them the evidence to support everything I believe in. So, yes, as long as we push and push and push, what Ronnie, what Shamaine does on her faith and freedom, Real America's Voice, and the Queen of the Forest segments on Spirit of the Wild TV on the Pursuit Channel, people come up to us, teary-eyed. They can't wait to get a bow and arrow and go hunting. They can't wait to turn a deer into backstrap souffle. So, yes, there is an awakening because we speak up, but we got to continue to turn up the speaking up so we can educate people that God's miracle, it it can only function properly with conscientious participation, and that's what we're dedicated to.
SPEAKER_00Amen. And uh if we could all be just as articulate as you, and we can't be. I'll tell you this, Ted. I I've been around a long time. I've been with a bunch of people. I I got a podcast up right now about when we used to have a show on the golf channel, and I took Jack Nicholas and we're boat hunting in Jack Nicholas and ringing the bucket 38 steps in the cafe test. I've been with a lot of people. But I can tell you, I get more people walk up to me and say, did you hunt with Ted News? What's Ted like? And he liked that all the time. Man, you you cast a big shadow to this day. And we're very appreciative of that. Do you ever get tired or discouraged carrying that torch?
SPEAKER_05Nope. Not even close.
SPEAKER_04I knew you were saying that. I'm sitting here, Ronnie, I'm sitting here in my man cave cuckoo's nest, my arsenal democracy, surrounded by guitars and amplifiers and bows and arrows and guns and ammo and beautiful mounted skulls and moose from Alaska September 10th, 1977. Um, an elk I shot in uh September of 78. My dogs Coco, Sadie, and Jackson are here with me, all tired out from training with the duck decoys today. Um, no, I I just shot my old bear recurve. I shot a dozen of these footed shafts. You really you know what a footed shaft is, don't you?
SPEAKER_00I do, I do. I know what a Zwicky Broadhead is. I know how to glue.
SPEAKER_04Yes, I got uh I got I got footed shafts with bear razor heads, the wiki uh deltas and the Eskimo and the old MA2s. No, I just got done shooting a dozen arrows with my bear re curve, Ronnie. It's soul cleansing. Nobody gets more uppity than Ted Nugent, case closed. And nobody, nobody gets more relaxed, flat, almost flatline. You know, when you shoot your arrow, you have to be, your your heartbeat and your breathing has to be like a martial arts control, right? But at the same time, you're intensely stimulated to make sure that your hand-eye spirit coordination, especially when you shoot a bear bow canted like Fred Bear and all the heroes, that I'm telling when I cut, when I knock an arrow on my recurve or my Matthews, it doesn't matter, but especially the recurve, I'm telling you, there's no negativity. It's it's it's the most calming, soul cleansing activity you can possibly indulge in. So it fortifies my energy. I'm old, I'm 78 this year, but I balance it between raising hell and and shooting my bow and walking and training my dogs and snuggling with Mrs. Nugent, I might add. Um so so it I have this incredible balance between fire breeding intensity with my music and and crushing idiots on the left. And then I I I'm almost I'm I'm almost as calm as Fred Bear. Fred Bear is the calmest man I've ever met. He was unbelievable. Um, and that's and that but that's a guiding light for me. I go, right now, how did how did Fred stay so calm, not only building an archery business, but creating an archery life. There was no bow hunting before Fred. I mean, yeah, Ishii and and and Compton and Pope and Young, yeah, there were some, but when it turned into this wonderful industry, that was Fred Bear. So he had to be intense, but he was always level and calm. So whenever I'm level and calm, it happened it happens once in a while, Ronnie. Whenever I'm level and calm, that's that's Fred Bear's influence as much as anybody else's.
SPEAKER_00Well, I've seen you sit still for a long time. So it happens. I know that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'm the master of I'm the master of immobility. I I can turn it into a non-breathing statue for three hours a day.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna ask you this last question. And Lauren wrote this question. She said, Ask him, because he is such an individual. Can he remember or did he ever get what was the best piece of advice you ever got? Whether it was about hunting or life or how to conduct yourself. Do you remember a defining moment when you got some advice and you went, hmm, that's that's very true.
SPEAKER_04Well, I didn't know it at the time. My dad was a superman. I mean, I didn't think so, because he was such a disciplinarian, which is why which is why I have uh such a great life. And I'm looking at photos right now on the wall of me and my dad uh at at Deer Camp back in the 1950s. Um, and I didn't get it at the time, but it it holds very true. Tell me who you go with, and I'll tell you what you are.
SPEAKER_00Oh wow.
SPEAKER_04And I didn't realize that till all the hippies started drooling and puking and making fun of me for not doing their dope and cocaine. And then it uh eventually by the time I was in my late teens on the road with the Amboy Jukes all the time, I started realizing these are not good people. These these people could not help me out of a burning building. I'd have to help them. I I I have to be aware of my surroundings. Tell me who you go with, and I'll tell you what you are.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Hey Gabe, that made the hair on my arm stand up.
SPEAKER_04I'm telling you, Ronnie, my dad, my dad knew his stuff, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my dad was a military guy, too. Well, Ted, I promised Linda I wasn't gonna keep you over 40 minutes, and I'm not.
SPEAKER_05Well, Ronnie, I want to tell you.
SPEAKER_04Let me let me tell you, I love you. I love Lauren, I love, I love Mossy Oak. I love all my fellow sporters out there, the hunting, fishing, trapping, ranching, farming, conservation community on the fistful of dirt with Ronnie Strickland. I love you people. You people have brought me such buoyancy and joy and laughter, and you've taught me so much. I know what I know because of the people I hang around with all my life. So I wanted to get that across and thanks everybody for supporting Shimane's in my Spirit of the Wild TV show. I have a spirit campfire on Real America's Voice every week, which is an absolute riot, by the way. And Shimaine has a spirit, a faith and freedom on Real America's Voice. Thank you, everybody, for supporting us. We appreciate it. We feel we are a brotherhood. We feel that we are we are we are we are soldiers for God's miracle. Old timers make knives for those who don't find it. Old timers, everything's a good thing. Bow hunting. He was gonna he was gonna kill a turkey with a bow. And we were again we were at the same place where I had the necklaces out there at Wexford hunting with Kyle Booker. And uh Ted Ted is just you just can't imagine how and you think he's a celebrity hunter. Well he is. Yeah. He's a killer, man. He is so quiet when he walks and he sits still. And of course now we're trying to do it with a bow and air, and we ain't got any pop-up lines or anything. Not there's anything wrong with that. We were just going at him. Yeah. Going at him. And all he had with him was his bow. Because we, you know, it ain't like we were on a mountain trek. He had his bow and his air, and he got whatever he had with him. And it was uh me and I think it was Yacht.
SPEAKER_01I think so.
SPEAKER_00We were running two cameras, I would imagine. And we hunted for a whole day, had a couple of close calls, hunted most of the next day. That second afternoon we went out and it was uh probably five o'clock. If you ever hunted Rios in Texas, you know it started that's starting to kind of be the golden hour. I said, let's just go get in a in a Oakmont or a shady and sit down, because at some point somebody's gonna gobble. We were just sitting there and Ted was in front of me, probably 15 feet, sitting there with his bowl across his lap. And when we'd go back to the game, he was practicing sitting down, just ringing it. And we just pop pop. He could do it. Anyway, we're sitting here just resting. And I hear something, I look over to my right, and there's a big hog coming. I mean a big hog. And I I glanced because Joach, who was running the big camera, he was to my left, and I looked at him to make sure he saw it coming just so he could get some video. And this took maybe a second or two seconds. I looked at him, knew he was moving the camera. When I looked back, that hog had a red light on it. And I I glanced at Ted and he had that 10 millimeter out. And where he did it to be in, I don't I'm assuming he was in his move. And when that hog got in front of me, it just bam, bam, bam. And look, every time he pulled that trigger, dust flew.

SPEAKER_00See, I'm talking that thing was I mean, it's it was not that far, probably twenty-five, thirty yards with a handgun, but I mean, every time he shot, boom, boom, and that thing connected. Yeah, and it just ended up rolling. I was like, and I walked out, I said, Where where's that 10 millimeter been this whole time for two days? And he said, Wouldn't you like to know? And I was like, he is the absolute real deal.
SPEAKER_01How fun.
SPEAKER_00That that stuff he talks about and shows on YouTube, Real America Voice, y'all need to follow him on that. Him and his bride both. But uh he he's the real deal. I mean, we pulled up to get pick him up at his house in Texas. You know, he's got a house in Texas. They had the mold issue at their home in Michigan. And anyway, I had that brand new Ram mega cab. And we got in and all that, and we had lunch, Maine cooked lunch for us and all that. We're getting all his gear and we go outside and he said, Let me see your keys. I'm flipping the keys and yeah, he and the way he drives, I was like holding on. We stopped at a gun store on the way out, but it's like I we had so much fun, and he's the same whether there's a microphone or a camera there or not.
SPEAKER_01That's the best part. Just authenticity. Yeah. Just the real deal.
SPEAKER_00Well, he is the king of authenticity, and I am so glad he's on our side. I hope you enjoyed that short visit with uh Ted Nugent. Got you up to date, got your attitude right. And uh I'm glad he got to talk a little bit about camp for kids because I know he's really proud of that. He done promote it a lot because people are just hammering him all the time for uh his political views.
