Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This reflection shows that faithful love is often demonstrated through steady presence rather than dramatic moments. It invites us to consider where God may be calling us to remain committed, patient, and present in relationships, especially when love becomes inconvenient or difficult.

“May the Lord bless you and keep you — and may His presence guide you this week.”
Today I'm reading Proverbs seventeen verses thirteen through seventeen. If you repay good with evil, evil will never leave your house. Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out. Aquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent, both are detestable to the Lord. It is senseless to pay to educate a fool since he has no heart for learning. A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Most of us have experienced a relationship that was built on convenience. As long as circumstances are easy, time is available, or interests align, connection feels natural. But difficulty has a way of revealing what a relationship is actually resting on. This passage in Proverbs speaks to what godly love looks like. A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for a time at adversity. Love becomes most visible when circumstances become complicated. Anyone can stay present when life is easy. Faithful friendship becomes clearer when things become uncomfortable, inconvenient, or costly. That kind of love reflects something deeper than personality or preference. Throughout Scripture, God's love consistently moves toward people rather than away from them. He remains faithful when his people wander. He continues pursuing relationship when they fail. His presence does not disappear in difficult seasons. As people learn to abide in Jesus, that same pattern begins to shape their relationships. Love becomes less dependent on convenience and more rooted in commitment. Presence becomes part of the expression of love itself. Often that doesn't look so dramatic. It looks like showing up for someone who's hurting, staying in difficult conversations instead of withdrawing, continuing to encourage someone when growth feels slow, choosing patience when frustration would be easier. Faithful love rarely demands attention for itself. But over time those ordinary acts of presence have a way of becoming deeply significant. The love that grows from abiding often develops quietly, and sometimes one of the most meaningful things a person can offer is simply the decision to remain present. Before I close in prayer, here's a question to wrestle with. Teach me to reflect that same faithfulness in the way I love and care for others. Help me to become someone who remains present with people through every season.
