This week on Once Upon a Time in Music, EL and Cheryl Poison slow things all the way down and tap into their favorite R&B joints — the deep cuts, the late-night vibes, and the songs you might’ve skipped back in the day but need to hear again right now.

From ’70s soul to 2000s R&B, the crew puts listeners on to hidden gems and timeless classics from artists like Prince, Marvin Gaye, Bootsy Collins, Jodeci, Music Soulchild, Toni Braxton, Ginuwine, Kelly Price, Mariah Carey, Jhené Aiko, The Isley Brothers, Intro, and more. If you love smooth vocals, grown-folk music, and records that still hit no matter the era, this one’s for you.

They also jump into Kiss, Marry, Kill, run a Price Tag Check comparing then vs. now, talk new music and mixed reviews, spotlight a classic album anniversary, and reminisce about mixtapes, Columbia House CDs, and how certain songs just feel different when they come on late at night.

This episode is pure vibes, laughs, nostalgia, and R&B love — and by the end, it’s clear this one needs a Part 2.

Press play, grab your pen for the playlist, and ride out with Once Upon a Time in Music.

SPEAKER_07

SPEAKER_00

It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?

SPEAKER_06

It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?

SPEAKER_07

It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?

SPEAKER_00

The world can be an unforgiving place. Fox Five and Nobody Beats the Wiz want to remind you. It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?

SPEAKER_05

Yep, yep, yep. What's up, what's up, what's up? We back another episode. Another one. I'm juiced up still. He's juiced up. Hyped up.

SPEAKER_02

I'm cool, calm, and collected. Hyped up, another episode of Once Upon a Time in Music. I'm L.

SPEAKER_05

I'm Cheryl Poison. And we're back for another week. Another week. Another good week.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. It's gonna be a good one. I think so. I think so. Um well tell her what it's about.

SPEAKER_05

We are doing our favorite RB joints.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yep.

SPEAKER_05

We're about to put y'all onto some heat.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it might, you might, you might have never heard some of these songs.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, this might be the one you skip.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, deep cuts. And you might need to go back. Yeah, yeah. I think I'm gonna write some of these down as we go along, too. Um also, what what else we got? We got Kiss Mary Kill.

SPEAKER_05

I got you some good people.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, good. Because I got you some good people.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's what you say. No, no, it don't ever equal out.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, what else? We got price tag check. We got uh a little bit of news. News, music spotlight. Um, yeah, but how you been?

SPEAKER_05

I'm good.

SPEAKER_02

Have you been listening to anything new?

SPEAKER_05

No. I need to listen to my man. My man, my man, my man.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. Don't rush.

SPEAKER_05

My man, my man, my man.

SPEAKER_02

Don't rush.

SPEAKER_05

You could do no wrong in my eyes.

SPEAKER_02

Don't rush.

SPEAKER_05

Nas, I love you. You could do no wrong in my eyes. It's some people are saying that your joint ain't it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But it's not.

SPEAKER_05

Whatever.

SPEAKER_02

I I think I got through three songs.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Super mediocre.

SPEAKER_05

So what is it? Is it the beats or is it the rhymes?

SPEAKER_02

Both. I can't. Definitely the beats. They try to make something just because it's Premier beats, but it's like Premier put the songs out and was like, yo, Naz, you gotta work on these are the ones you gotta make songs to.

SPEAKER_05

I'm biased, so I can't. He does no wrong in my eyes.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I didn't listen to the whole thing.

SPEAKER_05

I'll listen to it and I'll let y'all know next week.

SPEAKER_02

What's the name of that album? You know?

SPEAKER_05

Light Years. Something light years.

SPEAKER_02

So it's a new album that just dropped this Friday past called Light Years. Uh Nas and DJ Pamir. Yep. Um internet's talking about it. It's almost mixed reviews. Some people saying it's good, some people say it's good.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it is a lot of mixed reviews.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. They're like, the ones I've been hearing, oh, it's the best album this year. It's definitely not that.

SPEAKER_05

It's not.

SPEAKER_02

Come on now. Kendrick Lamar. It's not too many albums that's gonna beat Kendrick Lamar this year.

SPEAKER_03

Whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Now, if it came out next year, yeah. If they put it out January, it would have been the best album of 2026.

SPEAKER_05

I gotta listen to Conway too. He has a new joint.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

It came out Friday too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I clicked on it, but I didn't get all the way in it. Also, who else? 21 Savage came out with something.

SPEAKER_05

I don't really listen to it too much. 21. 21.

SPEAKER_02

I like 21. I like it.

SPEAKER_05

So you already listened to it?

SPEAKER_02

Nah, I was saving it.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That and uh I think two weeks prior to that, uh Day La Soul came out with an album.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So I've been holding off on listening to those.

SPEAKER_05

You've been saving the best for last?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's been hectic past uh couple days. So I ain't been focused on the music.

SPEAKER_04

I understand completely.

SPEAKER_02

I've been listening, but listening to old stuff. And um let's get in uh music spotlight.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, what you got for us?

SPEAKER_02

Music Spotlight. It just happened to be December uh 1993. This week, uh I think December 21st, 1993, a group put out an album. I think it might be one of the best RB group albums in the 90s. Jodice Diaries of a Bad of a Mad Band. Yeah. That had uh Cry for You, Cry For You Fiend lately. Uh they had a lot. They had a good couple.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that was a good joint.

SPEAKER_02

That was a good album. That wasn't a first album, that was a third. Second, possibly second, yeah. But Cry for You and Fiend really I can't leave you alone. That video, the remix. We talked about the remix on here once before. Um yeah, that came out. How many years ago is that? How many years ago was 1993? 1993.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god, I was in 11th grade.

SPEAKER_02

So 95 is how many? It's 25 years. 30? 30. So this is about 38 years ago?

SPEAKER_05

Oh god.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. No, it can't be.

SPEAKER_05

No. It can't be. 95 is 30. 93, I'd be 32. 32 years?

SPEAKER_02

Oh man.

SPEAKER_05

God, it don't seem like it's been that long.

SPEAKER_02

I remember listening to it. I remember this album.

SPEAKER_05

Did I have the tape or the CD? What did we have in 93? Do we have tapes?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, Columbia House was rocking.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, so we had CDs. I think I had the CD. I probably got it from Columbia House.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think I had the CD.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, somebody else might have ordered it from Columbia House and didn't pay that money. That's what I'm talking about. It was somebody else, not me though. Not me.

SPEAKER_02

A different name. And then you go in the uh you go in the magazines and they got the the little thing that you tear out? Tear out and you fill it out and send it in. Come on. How many of those you send out?

SPEAKER_05

I got me a lot of CDs.

SPEAKER_02

I think that started my collection, Columbia House.

SPEAKER_05

Shout out. Shout out to them.

SPEAKER_02

Definitely. That and a dice game. A dice game.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know about that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was playing dice for one of my friends for CDs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

We could play over it. You got some dice? Hey, I can find some around here now. Some dice?

SPEAKER_02

I got some in the car. What you want to do?

SPEAKER_05

What you want to do?

SPEAKER_02

Hey, that's what I'm talking about. Okay. My nigga. All right, let's get into Kiss Mary Kill. Kiss Mary Kill. I got some good people.

SPEAKER_05

Got it right. Of course. I'm going to get it right from now on. We got some good people for you, too.

SPEAKER_02

We're trying to hook you up. Go first then.

SPEAKER_05

Always go first.

SPEAKER_02

Go ahead.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. So now Lathan.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_08

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_04

You gonna kill her?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, kill her. She looks real young in this. Is is she young?

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_05

Well, some if you deal with somebody, they're gonna kiss somebody before you.

SPEAKER_02

Nope. Nobody.

SPEAKER_05

So you don't want your person to kiss nobody before you.

SPEAKER_02

Nobody before me. Nobody.

SPEAKER_05

I don't care who you kiss before me. You kiss me, it's gonna be it. Yeah, that's it. That's how I feel. Forever. Forever.

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_02

What, light eyes?

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

Okay, what's your favorite Nas movie?

SPEAKER_05

Belly. You know it's Belly.

SPEAKER_02

Why? It's only one movie, right? I think he was only in one movie.

SPEAKER_05

My favorite song, I think, of his is Everything with Kanye. I like that song.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna have to check that one out. I don't know the I don't know too many Nas songs' names. You need to get up on it. I don't know a lot of songs' names. Shit, I don't know a lot of people's names.

SPEAKER_05

You sure don't.

SPEAKER_02

I've been good on it.

SPEAKER_05

You'll know when you hear it though, right?

SPEAKER_02

I've been good with the names lately.

SPEAKER_05

Have you?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I either won't even say their name or just skip and go to the next one.

SPEAKER_05

Well. Well we know Nas. Hit me in the inbox, Nas.

SPEAKER_02

Every episode I think we we shout out Nas. We're gonna have to. We have a ban, a Nas ban on the show. No Nas, nothing. You can't say the word Nas.

SPEAKER_05

You can't That's not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_02

You can't refer to anything that has to do with Nas.

SPEAKER_05

No, we can't do that.

SPEAKER_02

We can't say the word nasty.

SPEAKER_05

That's my bae.

SPEAKER_02

We can't say nasty because it got Nash.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

Oh boy. Alright. What else we got? I guess we go to you want to go to price tags?

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

Start your price tags because I gotta do something.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you ain't got none.

SPEAKER_05

I thought you was gonna have one.

SPEAKER_02

Oh that was a setup, huh?

SPEAKER_05

It was.

SPEAKER_02

I sat you up. All right. 1990 bread was it was between 70 cents and a dollar to 89 cents, like a dollar. Now, the same bread, wonder bread. I just, you know, I picked one brand from 250 to$3.

SPEAKER_05

Wow.

SPEAKER_02

That's not too bad of a jump.

SPEAKER_05

That's not, but come on now.

SPEAKER_02

It's not. It's really only, you know, another dollar and a half. Maybe.

SPEAKER_05

Is that the bread you like? You like Wonder Brand? Wonder?

SPEAKER_02

I haven't had Wonder in a long time. I'm broke, baby. I need that. Whatever that brand of that store, I need that brand.

SPEAKER_05

You need that brand? Yeah. The cheap brand?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, let me get that. Let me get the walmart. The cheap ones. They be a dollar.

SPEAKER_05

I don't never see no dollar bread.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I'll put you on then. Just go down, further, walk further down. It's nowhere near all the way to the end. It's nowhere near the wonder bread. It's probably in a plain color. It's green and white or blue and white. There's no other cup. I don't know if they have names on it, but you know, it's way down.

SPEAKER_05

Bread is one of the things that I will eat, like a cheap kind. I don't have to have. Like I will get the expensive brand, but I don't have to have it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna get an expensive brand and make a sandwich with it just to see.

SPEAKER_05

It's gonna be the same. It's whatever you put on the bread that's making it.

SPEAKER_02

My mother used to buy the expensive brands. And I realized they were the expensive brands once I got older.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. You notice that about a lot of stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. I like um Nature's Own. That's the kind I use. Nature's own. Or Wonder Bread. What else I like? My sister likes bunny bread. I don't buy bunny bread too much. But if I'm buying it, I'm gonna get Nature's own white wheat.

SPEAKER_02

What's bunny bread?

SPEAKER_05

It's a brand of bread.

SPEAKER_02

I never heard that.

SPEAKER_05

Look on the aisle, you'll see it. Okay, it got a little bunny on it.

SPEAKER_02

I gotta go to the supermarket after this, so I'm gonna look for your bunny bread.

SPEAKER_05

Look for the bunny bread.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, is it time?

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_04

Baby, baby, baby.

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_05

What you doing? How you don't have this album?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Everybody had this album. Girls. All girls had this album back in the day.

SPEAKER_05

That was a good album.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, all girls had this one. I didn't it was cool. At the time, it was the biggest album.

SPEAKER_05

Probably until the biggest, the largest, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Until a Michael Jackson album came out.

SPEAKER_05

The biggest. The largest.

SPEAKER_02

And he forgot. Alright, so that was uh That was my first one. The beautiful ones.

SPEAKER_05

And the name of the song is True. You remember this? Oh, you don't remember it. It comes on the radio all the time. It still comes on the radio right now. There's always like especially late at night. Late at night, this song comes on. It gets a little lengthy on the intro.

SPEAKER_05

Let me write this down.

SPEAKER_02

True T-R-U. He talks about uh all the stuff he went through with his family.

SPEAKER_06

Hey, well, yeah, I know it's been a while.

SPEAKER_02

The label.

SPEAKER_05

Because he got some good joints on his album.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if he would have brought this album.

SPEAKER_05

Don't think so.

SPEAKER_02

It was after those big hits. Yeah, it was after those big hits.

SPEAKER_07

This is me, so please accept me for who I am.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, I have heard this when he started the chorus.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, this this was uh it was a hit. Um, Lloyd 2016? 2016. Um I think the name of the album is true, also.

SPEAKER_05

So when we do this again, I'll have a couple of Lloyd joints to put on it.

SPEAKER_02

Lloyd got some good ones. He got some joints. He do. He definitely got some.

SPEAKER_05

Alright. Um okay.

SPEAKER_02

I guess it's your turn.

SPEAKER_05

It's my turn.

SPEAKER_02

Now before you do this song, I have to say your list.

SPEAKER_05

My list is crazy, right?

SPEAKER_02

It's yeah, it's it's it's uh it's from a certain time period. I'll say that. It's mixed up. I know, but I think this one, this song right here.

This was 1976. Bootsy Collins, baby. I'm serious this time. I'd rather be with you. Listen to that. I don't smoke, but this makes me wanna smoke something. Just roll up and relax.

SPEAKER_04

I'd rather be with you.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I got a um cigar.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I said.

SPEAKER_02

Is this the song where you said I could see you coming with both hands behind my back?

SPEAKER_05

He said, I'm coming with both hands tied behind my back. Yeah, that's that's classic. That's a classic.

SPEAKER_07

I'd rather be with you until I'm through.

SPEAKER_05

This is some smooth, relaxing with your boo smoking. And I don't even smoke.

SPEAKER_07

I just love that smile.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's a good one.

SPEAKER_07

Bootsy, baby.

SPEAKER_02

Bootsy Collins. I think this was one of those ageless songs. Yeah. This one that never goes, never get a while of style.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. The name of the album was Stretching Out in Bootsy's rubber band. I can see him just oh babe. He reminded me of the uncle from um the Proud Family.

SPEAKER_02

I never watch it.

SPEAKER_04

You never watch the Proud Family?

SPEAKER_02

Uh-oh. No, I think when that came out that certain time, I was outside. I didn't want to see cartoons.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I want to run around.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Right? Yeah, yeah. You probably seen it with your kids. Yeah, that's what it is.

SPEAKER_05

It might have been that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it wasn't that. That's not.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's old. That came out in the 2000s, right?

SPEAKER_05

I wasn't outside. I was inside with the kids.

SPEAKER_02

Don't try to change, don't try to make me feel bad. Like, oh, man, this is outside. They gone.

SPEAKER_05

I wasn't outside. I was inside.

SPEAKER_02

Alright.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. You're next.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I don't know. I'm not even gonna say the name of this. Why? Because I I might say it wrong. I I'll let you hear it.

SPEAKER_05

Do I know this?

SPEAKER_02

I hope so. This is a classic.

SPEAKER_05

No? Not a classic. Oh no. Kindred? Yep. What's the name of the song? This might be too classic for me. Stars.

SPEAKER_03

So many times you could have walked away.

SPEAKER_02

That's that soul right there.

unknown

But I didn't have a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a side.

SPEAKER_02

This is the Kendrick Family Soul. It's a couple. Husband and wife.

SPEAKER_05

And that's neat. Husband and wife doing a song together.

SPEAKER_02

No, they do hold that's the one. I guess you call it a band.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. Watch me. Put me on to stuff I ain't on to.

SPEAKER_02

I'm surprised. I'm more you would think like a female with, you know.

unknown

We trust in a love.

SPEAKER_02

I I can see a female listening more RB than a guy, but the deep cuts. The deep cuts.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_03

I'm thugged out with it.

SPEAKER_02

Are you?

SPEAKER_03

I have a little thugged out. Yeah, you are.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so that was uh 2003. Um the name of the album was uh Surrender to Love. Surrender to Love in 2003.

SPEAKER_05

Surrender to love. Yep, yep. Okay. I'm gonna have to check that out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's it.

SPEAKER_05

You got pretty good taste in music, so I'll take your um Thank you.

SPEAKER_02

You do too. Thanks. I think maybe I might have gone for deep cuts.

SPEAKER_05

I I well I guess I went for the stuff that like really moved me. Like if I hear it, I have to hear the whole thing.

SPEAKER_02

You know what it is, I think if I hear something on the radio so much or too much You don't like it no more, yeah. But I probably still would listen to the whole album, and the album probably would have songs on it. So I think a lot of that with genuine albums, like genuine games.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, he has some hidden gems on his.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, some big stuff on some of it on his first three albums. He had some like good songs on it, but I never listened to like pony and stuff like that. That was my skip.

SPEAKER_05

Pony used to be my song. I was at I was outside during pony.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, do the dance.

SPEAKER_05

I ain't doing the dance, but I was outside. I was outside. And it was sliding around. I was outside.

SPEAKER_02

All right, um, it's your turn, right?

SPEAKER_05

It's my turn.

SPEAKER_04

All right.

SPEAKER_05

This is one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_02

Hold on, I got a problem going on.

SPEAKER_05

B said you can't have more than one favorite. But he's lying. I ain't listening because I got a lot of favorites.

SPEAKER_02

I ain't listening to no B Easy. Because he don't even know the word favorites and favorites. He wanna make it technical.

SPEAKER_05

B said you can't have two favorites.

SPEAKER_02

He's sick.

SPEAKER_05

This is one of my favorites. This is some smooth music that you could grow to. This is Marvin Gay, I want you, 1976. The album is I Want You also. I want you. And it also had a famous painting as the cover.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it did?

SPEAKER_05

The sugar shack with the in it dancing.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, the good time shape. The good time. I bet you this is one of those extended ones. I think it comes. So hopefully the listeners have written these down in the channel.

SPEAKER_05

I hope so. Make y'all a little playlist.

SPEAKER_02

You know what? The songs I put on here, I'll make a playlist and I'll send it to if you are Apple Music listeners. I'll send it to me too. Yeah, I'll send it out to you. If you know, sometimes you want to hear the whole thing. I want to, I'd be wanting to hear the whole thing. Like every time I click on one of these songs, I want to. You want to let it play out. Let it play. I I want to dance to it, not dance to it. Uh gangsters don't dance out. You want to grow to it. Yeah, gangsters don't dance, they boogie. As it says.

SPEAKER_05

You want to grow to it.

SPEAKER_02

But I don't think I would have a list if I didn't have this artist on my list.

SPEAKER_05

Is it Tony Braxton?

SPEAKER_02

Queen at RB.

SPEAKER_05

Is she really the queen? Uh I don't know. I think you're going too far. She might be the princess.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, I can't give you that yet. But she's good. This is uh The Art of Love. Tony Braxton. It's from the Heat album. And that was uh 2000. This is like the smooth, kind of just listened to kind of beat. A lot of people never heard this song.

SPEAKER_05

He just biased because he liked Tony.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. This is one of those songs.

SPEAKER_05

Wrong people music. Chill with your boo.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I used to play this all the time in the car. Like, this is it to me. And I don't even think she's she does a little bit of ad-libbing, but she ain't singing on that one.

SPEAKER_05

So you just want to hear her voice.

SPEAKER_02

Nah, listen to the beat. Listen to the beat. I'm listening to the beat. Whatever. I don't know if I like her voice like that. I don't know. I don't know. Whatever. It's something about her.

SPEAKER_05

I understand that. Maybe something about certain people.

SPEAKER_02

Don't say that. Don't say the N-word.

SPEAKER_05

They already know how I feel.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, boy.

SPEAKER_05

Everybody who knows me know how I feel about that person.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so we're starting to Nas band.

SPEAKER_05

No, we're not. We're not. We're not. We're gonna keep saying his name till I meet him.

SPEAKER_02

Till you meet him?

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

It's gonna be hard.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

You could you should've did that um that Wu-Tang concert.

SPEAKER_05

I should've.

SPEAKER_02

Because he ended up going to a lot of those dates.

SPEAKER_05

I'ma meet him. I'ma meet him at the perfect time.

SPEAKER_02

And you see, what, last week? I think I said last week. He ended up with him again.

SPEAKER_05

It's gonna happen. I'm packing up my little raggedy bags and I'm leaving.

SPEAKER_02

Raggedy bags? Is that a pocket book or overnight bag? My overnight bag. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_05

Anyway, let's move on. Before I say too much. Alright, my next song.

unknown

Well, well, well.

SPEAKER_05

Some smoothness. This is grown people music. I must be old because I got a lot of old joints. You get me.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. This is footsteps. No, this is the wrong one.

SPEAKER_02

Uh.

SPEAKER_05

This ain't on your list. This ain't it. Then with you. That's a good one too, though.

SPEAKER_02

Nah.

SPEAKER_05

That could have made my list.

SPEAKER_02

I'm so I'm mad now. My song is Footsteps in the Dark. I'm messed the whole the whole show up. We might as well. Man, just turn the mic off.

SPEAKER_05

1977. Listen right here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Alright.

SPEAKER_02

A lot of samples over this one.

SPEAKER_05

A lot.

SPEAKER_02

I think Ice Cube killed it.

SPEAKER_05

He did. I used to love that song too. Today was a good day.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Are we to that voice?

SPEAKER_05

The name of the album is Go For Your Guns, The Isley Brothers. Yeah, that's a real Footsteps in the Dark.

SPEAKER_02

They got like two versions of that. They got like a part one and part two.

SPEAKER_05

I think it's just like extended.

SPEAKER_02

It's just like a bridge or something, Bray.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Alright. That's my joint.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's a good one. That's a real good one. I told you yours is in the you you got the 70s on. This is yours, yours is a 70s list. And mine's is the deep cut list.

SPEAKER_05

Yours is the 2000s.

SPEAKER_02

The deep cut list. Alright. This song right here, no matter when it comes on, I listen to the whole thing. And I don't know why. Maybe it's the the flute, uh piano, whatever's in the background. I can't wait to hear what it is. Oh, this is a classic. And this is another one of those songs that come on at night. Every radio station, every city. This is Music Soul Child. So beautiful.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, this is a good one.

SPEAKER_02

And uh the name of the album is On My Radio.

SPEAKER_04

Your My Baby. My lover.

unknown

My lady.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, some picks too.

SPEAKER_02

Man, I'm telling you. This album came out in 2008.

SPEAKER_04

Drives me crazy.

SPEAKER_02

They got an extended video for this. Like the videos like uh 14 minutes long. Because they play the beat and just things are going on in the video. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Feel the same way. Like a wedding song.

SPEAKER_04

Just feel so right.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna play this on the way out of here today. And it's it's afternoon right now. And I'm gonna play this.

SPEAKER_04

I know I'm gonna always choose to be with you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a good one. That's a classic right there for me. Yes. I can hear that. If I'm skipping through a song or something like that, that one of the songs.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, uh a glimpse of it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm on it. That's what I'm listening to. Alright, what you got?

SPEAKER_05

Alright, my next one is another one of my favorites. And it is a remake of a Stevie Wonder song.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, this is?

SPEAKER_05

No. We don't go on that. We'll go with this, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Wait.

SPEAKER_05

I'll go with what you got. This is 1996 Genuine.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

The Bachelor album. Pretty boy Genuine. Yeah. Only when you're lonely.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's not the song you meant to send me?

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. It must have got mixed up.

SPEAKER_02

I know this is definitely a song that would have been on my list.

SPEAKER_05

This would have been on your list?

SPEAKER_02

Definitely.

SPEAKER_05

Like this? Uh-huh. This whole album.

SPEAKER_04

Only you are she with another man. This is you. I am your man.

SPEAKER_02

Classic.

SPEAKER_05

Classic. 1996.

SPEAKER_02

You know how often I used to play Genuine back in the day?

SPEAKER_05

How often I play Genuine now?

SPEAKER_02

All his albums were dope. Hold on, hold on. Let me let me let me not say that. Nah, all albums were good.

SPEAKER_05

Not the whole album. I won't say the whole album.

SPEAKER_02

Once he left Timberlin, it started getting a little bit. Yeah. That's why I always say.

SPEAKER_05

But he still got some good joints after Timberlin. But just not. Timberlin, just the magic key. That beat.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I know that was Timbalin's beat.

SPEAKER_05

Just listen to it. You know who Timberlake.

SPEAKER_02

That that has to be. Yeah, that's Timberlin.

SPEAKER_05

That's a good one. I love that song.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that definitely was almost on my list.

SPEAKER_05

Twenties.

SPEAKER_02

That was on my list. Alright. You be having the up tempo.

SPEAKER_05

Twenties. I be all over.

SPEAKER_02

That's all right. I I guess I'm I like smooth RB. I don't know, but I listen to all RB. I'm a single.

SPEAKER_05

I listen to everything too.

SPEAKER_02

There's some Drake songs that's considered RB songs.

SPEAKER_05

I listen to all music. I go over to the white side. I listen to white music. I love everything. That's good music. If it's good music, it's good music.

SPEAKER_02

That that need to be a show.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, we could do that next show. Yeah. White artists that we listen to.

SPEAKER_02

White artists that you think we wouldn't listen to. That might be a good one.

SPEAKER_05

Because I got some joints there.

SPEAKER_04

I'll be like, you listen to that? Sure do. I sure do.

SPEAKER_02

I got one. I'm not even gonna say it on the air now because I'm gonna use it on my list.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. All right. Save it for your list.

SPEAKER_02

Well, this the song is one of my favorites. And I'm not gonna mess the name up. I'm gonna let you say the name.

unknown

Why am I gonna say the name?

SPEAKER_02

You don't know this? Let us see. Okay, I guess so. Let you mess it up.

SPEAKER_05

Let me mess it up.

SPEAKER_02

Pieces of me.

SPEAKER_05

People just don't know what I'm about. They haven't seen it. I wouldn't even think you would listen to this.

SPEAKER_04

There's so much more mega.

SPEAKER_02

You hear that song? You hear that voice?

SPEAKER_04

Well, it looks like I'm up sometimes on that.

SPEAKER_05

Up here singing it, everything else. I'm singing it, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

This is another one of those ones. If it's on, I probably will listen to it. And her name is Let us see.

SPEAKER_05

Is that how you say her name? Yeah. That's how I hear people say it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so you know her.

SPEAKER_05

I've heard uh.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. 2011, Pieces of Me. I've heard so many different people have songs named Pieces of Me.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, that's like a uh popular um title.

SPEAKER_02

It is. I thought it was you know, I thought uh it was bugging out, but I think that is.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, what you got? Okay, this joint, I hope we aligned. Um, 1993 intro.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I I think I think the list kind of jumbled up when you sent it to me.

SPEAKER_05

Hold on. It's a remake of a Stevie Mund classic. And I love this song. They he Stevie did it good. Like most of the times the remake don't be better. I think I like the remake better. I don't know. I hate to say that.

SPEAKER_02

I think uh this was this was gonna be on my list also.

SPEAKER_05

Really? I'm lying.

SPEAKER_02

This or their other song.

SPEAKER_05

What? Coming time?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

They had a good album.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they did. Oh well, I wouldn't say that.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. They had some good joints on the album. I'll say that. Because I didn't listen to all the songs on it, but they had a couple of joints.

SPEAKER_02

So what's the song you said?

SPEAKER_05

Ribbon in the Sky.

SPEAKER_02

Is uh Stevie Wonder remake.

SPEAKER_05

Stevie Wonder remake.

SPEAKER_02

A friend of mine's mother used to love this song. And I guess I ended up liking it too at the time. It's a good one.

SPEAKER_05

We don't never have the same songs.

SPEAKER_02

I'm always trying to think out of the box. Crazy songs.

SPEAKER_05

They did this justice.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they did. I like this one better than that one.

SPEAKER_05

I like it better.

unknown

Oh solo.

SPEAKER_05

And Stevie gave his approval because he was on the office.

SPEAKER_02

Oh wow. So what's that? 1993?

SPEAKER_05

93.

SPEAKER_02

1993. Intro. Self-titled album.

SPEAKER_05

Um ribbon in the sky. They also had songs like uh Come Inside, Let Me Be the One.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you remember Let Me Be the One used to be on All Mixed Tapes.

SPEAKER_05

I used to love that song. That's one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_02

That used to be on All Mixed Tapes.

SPEAKER_05

Let me be, let me be the one. That beat was crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Ron G's uh Doo Wop album. Not do-wops. Ron G's, who else? Oh my gosh. Kid Capri? Yeah, Kid's Capri. Definitely, definitely Kid Capri.

SPEAKER_03

Uh Let me be the one that you come with. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

This was the joint. I'm just throwing it on just because it's because it's, yeah. Yeah, that was a big one.

SPEAKER_05

That was one of my favorites. That could have that could have hit the list. Y'all don't know this song. Y'all don't know um classic RB.

unknown

I wanna be the one.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. This this was hot back then. I still listen to this sometimes now.

SPEAKER_02

That was a mixtape.

SPEAKER_05

I mean staple.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, that was the first song on a lot of mixtapes at one time. And you know, if you the first three songs on the mixtape.

SPEAKER_05

You know you it. That was the popular side.

SPEAKER_02

This song made hip-hop mixtapes. Not just like a RB mixtape. This had hip-hop mixtapes too.

SPEAKER_05

Because they would like to um blend it with other songs.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. They'll cut it up at polo, a cappella.

SPEAKER_05

They need to bring mixtapes back.

SPEAKER_02

I got them all. What do you want?

SPEAKER_05

I'll come up like with the new stuff. Mix up the new stuff. I don't think. Maybe I would like the new stuff more.

SPEAKER_02

You're right. You're right. Get some of them DJs. Yeah. But them DJs don't even like, you know, some of the DJs, they're still on like lives and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_05

But mixtapes was how you found songs that you probably would never hear.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I heard a lot of songs that I probably would never hear on mixtapes.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Really? That's that's how 50 Cent got so big.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Mixtapes. He had songs like he was remake remixing songs like that, the RB songs, stuff like that. He was. I almost want to put him as the king of RM, uh, the king of mixtapes.

SPEAKER_05

You want to?

SPEAKER_02

50 Cent era?

SPEAKER_05

I ain't gonna talk about 50 Cent though.

SPEAKER_02

Why?

SPEAKER_04

Because I ain't won't coming for me.

SPEAKER_05

50 Cent don't play.

SPEAKER_02

I love 50 Cent. I do too. 50 Cent is good. Alright, we're gonna get into mine.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Uh mine is a featured song. And I think I like it so much because of this artist that's on the feature. Um, this is Kelly Price. Not my daddy, feature Stokely.

unknown

I think this is a good one.

SPEAKER_05

Come on, stop. I ain't never heard this.

SPEAKER_02

You definitely heard this. Late at night. This is on.

unknown

I am the lady of your world.

SPEAKER_02

2011.

SPEAKER_03

And I love me from Kelly Price.

SPEAKER_02

Kelly Price. The name of the album is Kelly.

SPEAKER_05

I like Stokely. Anything I'll keep on.

SPEAKER_02

Anything Stokely. Yeah. He could have made my list three times.

SPEAKER_05

And I didn't put him on my list either.

SPEAKER_02

So if you don't know who Stokely is, Stokely is the lead singer of RB Game. Mean Condition. Yep. Yep, yep. So that's it. Uh Kelly Price, 2011. The name of the song, the name of the album is Kelly. The name of the song is Not My Daddy featuring Stokely. Stokely. Alright, what's your next one?

SPEAKER_05

Okay. This song, I love the song. This is one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_02

Is it with all the people?

SPEAKER_05

No, it's with one person.

SPEAKER_02

Go ahead.

SPEAKER_05

Is we on we on the same page?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'm just gonna go. I'm gonna shoot away after you.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. This is one of my favorites. She has some good albums. You can listen to this, and if you're mad at your man, it's gonna make you even madder.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, there's no way.

SPEAKER_05

And it's called The Worst from the album Sale Out, and it's Jennai or Janae Aiko. Okay, so 2013.

SPEAKER_02

You can mess up names too, then. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Everybody can mess up names.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I thought it was just me. This definitely would have been a mixtape, too.

SPEAKER_05

This would have.

SPEAKER_02

Do they do they had to have some remixes for this song?

SPEAKER_05

I think they do. I think they have one with somebody rhyming on it.

SPEAKER_02

I can hear fabulous on it.

SPEAKER_09

Tell me what you sing now. Tell me what you say come again. If you cannot stay down, then you do not have to pretend like there is no way out. I should have never let you in.

SPEAKER_05

I be in a whole zone when this song comes on. Don't don't talk to me while my song is on. Cause I'ma be singing along.

unknown

And although it hurts a no one.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's a good one. Yeah. I like that one.

unknown

I just can't keep running away.

SPEAKER_02

I like that one.

SPEAKER_05

You're the worst. If somebody tells you you're the worst, you're the worst.

SPEAKER_02

I say it to people all the time. Like if we play in pool or something, you're the worst at this game.

SPEAKER_05

Really? Nah. That's the lowest.

SPEAKER_02

The worst?

SPEAKER_05

I ain't never gonna be the worst.

SPEAKER_02

The worst.

SPEAKER_05

I'm gonna be the best.

SPEAKER_02

The worst. Now.

SPEAKER_05

You're the best.

SPEAKER_02

Since we're saying the worst, there is a song called The Worst. With Onyx. Kill us in. And I think somebody else. Method Man. And I think that was. I think so. They had a video with Killers in on top of the car. I'm gonna have to look it up, but let us know. Um if you know the song. Alright, I'm gonna get back into mine. This artist here. Stokely. The name of the song is she. And the name of the album is Stokely. He definitely could have made the list like a couple times.

SPEAKER_06

And the look can be magic.

SPEAKER_02

Let me see if I can.

SPEAKER_06

Every day it gets better. If you could hear her and talking about the way she walks, you know the queen is her.

SPEAKER_02

I think this was just a single. It wasn't on the album. 2019 by Stokely.

SPEAKER_05

So there was no album.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think so.

SPEAKER_07

It's because they designed without even trying.

SPEAKER_02

I get in like a zone. Like I listen to certain stuff over and over.

SPEAKER_05

I see. You're like a lover boy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know. I'm pretty and all that. I know. I know.

SPEAKER_05

I've been in love voices over. You don't see too many men listen to RB like that.

SPEAKER_02

Oh nah, I'm in it. I'm in it. Shoot, shout out to my man Jazz.

SPEAKER_05

It's refreshing.

SPEAKER_02

Jazz, he was an RB. He's an RB person too. He loves RB. Um, all right. What's yours?

SPEAKER_05

Okay, my next one. I'm gonna say this again. It's a a group of people.

SPEAKER_02

A whole bunch, a whole bunch of people.

SPEAKER_05

It's a whole bunch of people.

SPEAKER_02

When this came out now.

SPEAKER_05

It's Quincy Jones, L. Dabarge, James Ingram, Barry White, and I'll be sure. This song. Tell me a secret.

SPEAKER_02

When this came out now.

SPEAKER_05

This song probably got a lot of people pregnant.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know about that part now.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just saying. It's Secret Garden, 1989.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Who's your favorite on there?

SPEAKER_04

El DeVars.

SPEAKER_02

Me too. Yep. Yep. El DeVarge. Now.

SPEAKER_05

Let me lay beside you.

SPEAKER_02

What year this came out?

SPEAKER_05

1989.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so when this came out. I wasn't listening to this. I was listening to Big Daddy Kane and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_05

I was listening to this when it came out.

SPEAKER_02

But my dad had the CD. And I was playing that.

SPEAKER_05

I was listening to it because they used to play the video all the time.

SPEAKER_02

The video's dark and grainy though.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

unknown

Come on, come on, come on, come on.

SPEAKER_02

Listen to your I want to play this whole song because there's so many different people on there. Do the barrel.

SPEAKER_03

We could sing together.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you don't know who you like more. Well, I like this part, and then this other person comes. You're like, ooh, they are good too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's a good one. Who's that? James Ingram? James Ingram. Certain, see, back in the day, certain people's voice, even if you didn't know them, you knew that voice. You knew the voice. Like, I never listened to James Ingram songs. Well, nah, I probably did, but I didn't know that with James Insights.

SPEAKER_05

I was listening and you didn't know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But when you hear that voice, like, who's that? James Ingram?

SPEAKER_05

That's a joint right there.

SPEAKER_02

That's crazy. Yeah, that was a classic.

SPEAKER_05

I'm gonna listen to that too. I'm gonna listen to the whole thing.

SPEAKER_02

The whole album?

SPEAKER_05

No, just the whole song.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, because that album, the album was back on the block, right?

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. Back on the block. Quincy Jones.

SPEAKER_02

I think he had a couple other songs. I think Big Daddy Kane was on the album.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know if I even listened to the rest of the songs.

SPEAKER_02

I listened to it because, like I said, it was it was at the house. So I like that song. I think Big Daddy Kane had a song on that.

SPEAKER_05

Should I listen to the Big Daddy Kane song? Uh, don't know. You don't remember?

SPEAKER_02

I don't even know if it's really a Big Daddy King song on it. But I think there is. I think there is. And it's gotta be a reason. It gotta be a reason I listened to that, to that uh CD. Matter of fact, let me skim through it real quick.

SPEAKER_03

I got the secret key.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, Tevin Campbell got a song. Yeah, Big Daddy King do. Big Daddy Kane and Kumo D on the same song.

SPEAKER_05

What was Tevin Campbell's song? Round Around?

SPEAKER_02

No, you know Tevin Campbell. He probably made it uh tomorrow. A better you tomorrow.

SPEAKER_03

A better you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

unknown

A better me.

SPEAKER_02

And Back on the Block. Back on the Block was the song I used to listen to. Because it was Big Day Kane, Ice T, Kumo D, Mellie Mel, and Tevin Campbell.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

And it was like a up tempo back on the blocks. Whatever, whatever it was.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, yep. Alright.

SPEAKER_05

Well, it's your turn.

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_02

They do, because they got another song together, too.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_09

And they've on your face. So tonight we're going on the biggest thing. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's her her voice.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it is. She has a nice voice.

SPEAKER_02

I get uh strange looks whenever she pops up on the TV at the house.

SPEAKER_05

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm looking.

SPEAKER_05

You're looking. Because you know what? She light skinned. Is that why? She's light-skinned.

SPEAKER_02

That ain't why.

SPEAKER_05

She real light-skinned.

SPEAKER_04

It's okay. It's okay to say you like the light-skinned ladies.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not saying that. I'm not, I'm not saying that. Shoot. I like. Am I allowed to say I like all ladies? I like chocolate.

SPEAKER_05

That's my number one. I love a chocolate man. But I don't ever get a chocolate man. You got one now.

SPEAKER_02

You ain't sleeping.

SPEAKER_05

I ain't got no chocolate man.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you do?

SPEAKER_05

I don't have no chocolate man.

SPEAKER_02

The old guy.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know what you're talking about. No chocolate. I was just trying to I get caramel.

SPEAKER_02

Pull some information out of here. The mystery man. The mystery man. Pull them up.

SPEAKER_05

Who you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Tell them to pull up.

SPEAKER_05

Who you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Oh tell them to pull up.

SPEAKER_05

Not them. I don't know. Because I got two boyfriends.

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_05

You didn't have uh one in a possible.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just playing.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, no, no, no, no. Keep it going. No.

SPEAKER_02

Keep the same energy as they say. And what else? Kick what they say? Um, pop your shit.

SPEAKER_05

I ain't popping no shit. I don't have one in a possible.

SPEAKER_02

So, alright. Nah, nah, I ain't gonna say this crazy stuff I'm about to say. Go ahead. Okay, is it is it my turn? Yeah, it's your turn. Okay. Break it down.

SPEAKER_05

Is we don't break down?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. You tell me where we at. We at 25.

SPEAKER_05

We on Mariah Carey.

SPEAKER_02

No, I mean you you miss one, I think.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think I missed one.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, I'm gonna play it. I'll see if you like it.

SPEAKER_05

Um we could go to that one if you want to. Yeah, we can. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'm ready.

SPEAKER_05

So, 25 Reasons. Uh-huh. Nibia. 2002.

SPEAKER_02

Did she have a good album?

SPEAKER_05

The self-title. I don't know. Just the only song I listened to.

SPEAKER_02

Was that 2001?

SPEAKER_05

2002.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. It might be one.

SPEAKER_05

This song I have you wanting to give somebody 25 reasons. I need somebody to give 25 reasons to.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta what's the age range?

SPEAKER_05

I took up 8 to 80. Dumb crippling crazy. Okay. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You're gonna get in trouble with that kind of thought.

SPEAKER_05

Listen to that.

unknown

I love the way you cook for me.

SPEAKER_02

I like this song. I do remember this song. This was on mixtapes, too.

SPEAKER_05

I can give you 25 reasons why I'm never leaving you. 25 reasons.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so she does that through the whole song. Yeah, I do remember this.

SPEAKER_05

She giving her 25 reasons.

SPEAKER_02

She had a run.

SPEAKER_04

Even though I got my own money.

SPEAKER_02

Nivea had a had her run. She had a run. Alright, um, where we at? We on my we on you. Alright. So, like I told you, Genuine is uh one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I hope it's a song I like too. But you guys don't want to be bothered.

SPEAKER_02

The name of the song is I'll do anything, or I'm sorry. It's off the bachelor album. Um 1996.

SPEAKER_05

You can't get a little bumping grind.

SPEAKER_02

I used to play this over.

SPEAKER_05

I used to play this song all the time too.

SPEAKER_02

The video was fun.

SPEAKER_03

It's a good one.

SPEAKER_04

I don't wanna accept the fact that you're no longer.

SPEAKER_02

This video was fun. Had a Leah in it, uh, Missy, Timberlin.

SPEAKER_05

But you know, all their videos usually have the whole family in it.

SPEAKER_02

This was it.

SPEAKER_05

I'll do anything, anything you want. Yeah, that's a that's a good word.

SPEAKER_02

That's one of my favorites, right there.

SPEAKER_05

That's one of my favorites. I'm telling you. Ah, sweet twinsies. I'm telling you.

SPEAKER_02

Twinsies between genuine and and I probably have to say Jodice might be at the top of my list. Any list you give me.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I know Joe D going to do it.

SPEAKER_02

Jodice RB groups, number one, probably. For me. I'm not counting temptations and all of that. Jodice was my era. So that's where it starts. That's where your era started at Joe D? It gotta be. I don't think I listened to any other RB groups before them. I'm not gonna say eh. New edition, cool, but Joe Dice to me.

SPEAKER_05

I like some old school groups too, like the OJs.

SPEAKER_02

See, I can't put them in front of Joe to see each other. They have some joy crazy songs, but Joe Dice.

SPEAKER_05

I just love Joe to see. I don't know. It's just something about Joe D. I can listen to they like put their CD in and just let it play.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, it hit different.

SPEAKER_05

I um I guess I'm on my last one.

SPEAKER_02

You on your last one?

SPEAKER_05

All right, well. We on the same page here. Is we breaking down?

SPEAKER_02

Before you say the name, this this one right here, I had the single cassette single. So you know it's only on one side.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. What was on the other side?

SPEAKER_02

I played um The Roof. Nah, you know what? It may have been CD. I played this song to death.

SPEAKER_05

To death? I played the song to death.

SPEAKER_02

I had this, I had a system in my room at the time.

SPEAKER_05

So this right here, you had the beats knocking?

SPEAKER_02

I came down south and a cousin had a system in his car. He played this for me. And ever since then.

SPEAKER_05

This is my song. This is one of my favorite Mariah Carey songs. It's Breakdown 1997 off the butterfly CD with Bone Thugs and Harmony.

SPEAKER_01

Bone Thug, kill the Breakdown. Yeah, they killed this one.

SPEAKER_05

Yes. I probably scratched out my CD playing this so many times.

SPEAKER_02

I'm trying to think of the single. It was a single. This was like two songs on it.

SPEAKER_05

I remember this because I borrowed it. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_04

Immediately.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I love that song.

SPEAKER_02

Breakdown.

SPEAKER_05

Steady breaking me on down. That's a good breakup song.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah? That's a breakup song? I think the nigga be dancing to it more than.

SPEAKER_05

I think so. I think that's a breakup song. Like, uh, I hate him.

SPEAKER_02

I hate you.

SPEAKER_05

I hate him. Don't call me no more. Steady breaking me on down.

SPEAKER_02

Alright. It's my turn. Alright. This one right here is weird.

SPEAKER_05

This is your last one?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, my last one.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

This one right here is weird because it's from a group. But it's not official. It's official group, but it's not official group. The feature on it is not official rapper. I'll just make it sound weird. Because it is kind of weird. The name of the song is uh Take It Wrong. By a group named TGT. Uh the name of the album is Three Kings. TGT is Tyrese, Genuine, and Tank. And this song is featuring Black Tie. If you know who Black Tie is, Black Tie is Tyrese. So he featured on the song twice almost.

SPEAKER_05

So he's rapping on it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's rapping on it. 2013. This came out. This album.

SPEAKER_05

I already got everything down and you're written down.

SPEAKER_02

Now, if y'all listeners are listening and y'all want you know y'all gonna write in and send us some of your joints. Yeah, send us your joints.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_05

Don't listen to him. It don't matter what kind of phone you got.

SPEAKER_02

My number is. I wonder if we put out a number where we get crazy calls. Yes, you would. I'm gonna try it one day with your number.

SPEAKER_05

No, you ain't. My phone number got to be um clear for my boo to call me.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not gonna say that.

SPEAKER_05

Nas. Oh, you ain't gonna call me at any time.

SPEAKER_02

We're not allowed to say that name no more.

SPEAKER_05

Nas. You can call me anytime. Any time of night that you feel like you want to dial my number or get in contact with me.

SPEAKER_02

You and a solicitor.

SPEAKER_05

Any time of night.

SPEAKER_02

I'm telling you, they're gonna they're gonna get on us for the solicitor.

SPEAKER_05

I don't wake up for no one, but if you hit my line, I'm gonna get up.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, well, this has been a nice RB uh smooth episode. Yes. Smooth.

SPEAKER_05

I got some joints written down that I'm gonna listen to today.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man. Uh I might have to make a little playlist and really send it out. Alright, um, I'm done.

SPEAKER_05

We're gonna have to do another one because I got a lot more.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think we do definitely gonna do a part two to this. Yeah. If you are listening and uh you think we need to do a part two to this, I think Yeah, you got to write us send an um email. Um, what else we um I guess we could come up with some other part twos and part threes.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Of what we already did.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Because I got some more rap um songs too.

SPEAKER_02

Which like which what you got in mind?

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

We did the beats, we did our favorite rap songs, I think we did. Okay. To be continued.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, let's do that. Alright, um, shout out to all our listeners also. Yes, I'm gonna do that. I love y'all, yes. We got an email, but I have to get to it. So we'll have it on next episode. Um we got a voice email, I think.

SPEAKER_05

SPEAKER_02
