SPEAKER_01

Straight into it, Nigel. Should the goal have stood West Ham versus Arsenal?

SPEAKER_00

Mate, it's it's it's there's so much to talk about. There's so much to break down in this episode because we've got to talk about City, we've got to talk about United, and we've got to talk about obviously that incident yesterday. But the main thing before I get onto that, the reason that City potentially and it looks like aren't going to win the league isn't because of that decision yesterday, it's because of silly mistakes that we've made and games that we should have won, that we didn't win, where we've drawn at home. Uh, you know, we're talking about like the Chelsea game, talking about um Well Everton recently. Yeah, well, Everton. I mean, there's there's so many, there's so many games where we could have won a game, and that is ultimately why we're not winning the league. Look at Nottingham Forest as well. Um, but yeah, I mean that that incident, we're obviously going to talk about it. It's what everybody's talking about, and everybody will have heard all these opinions, but not ours. And my opinion is that penalty, I it listen, it Well it won a penalty, was it? No, that incident, it was it was for me on the goalkeeper there was a foul, okay? But it's what why did why did they have to look at it 17 times? Why did it take five minutes? These are the things that are going on in your head, and also are they looking at it 17 times because then they're looking at incidents that happened before that where there were there was a pull from Trossard. You know, how far back do you go? At the beginning of the season, they said they were nailing down and knuckling down on all this um grappling and stuff like that that's happening. Um, and they usually do it for the first game of the season, don't they? And like give away a penalty or something. Um that and you go, Well, what's wow how's that a penalty? And then you see he put his arms around him and pulled him, but then a couple of games in, it's just forgotten about it.

SPEAKER_01

Same as same as the goalkeeper holding onto the ball for too long, and if he holds off the ball for too long, it's a corner.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. And and and all of that, and you go, well, all the things that they say they're clamping down on, yeah, they've clamped down on him for the first couple of games of the season, and then they don't. And I think this is why it's so frustrating because one of the reasons that Arsenal are winning this league is because they've been so physical at set pieces and they've kind of got away with it. I mean, you're a United fan. You that there was a goal disallowed. Uh it was just it's crazy. This this was all the you could flip this on its head and go back to Old Trafford when everyone said that the goal should have been disallowed because they were pulling your goalkeeper. Yeah. Uh they stopped his arm, they grabbed his arm so that his arm couldn't go up and and that and that wasn't given. So there's no consistency.

SPEAKER_01

This is everything they say consistency. So you go on to Twitter or Instagram yesterday. People will put up 10 occasions of when this has happened this season or even this year in the Premier League where that has happened and that has not the goal has stood. Yeah. And there's ones where it hasn't. Yeah. So it depends on the two fellas that are VAR and the referee. But surely it should be, and I'm I'm I'm going over old ground here, the consistency is the main thing here. Now, for me personally, right, if if it's the first game of the season, the goal shouldn't have stood. But then every single goal like that should not stand. Yeah. But me missus come to go and see it, and she was like, Oh no, that's a goal. That's a goal. And she's not a massive football fan. But then I have to point out, well, look, he's he's on his arm here and he's sort of pulling it out. And there's a pull of the sh the shirt earlier on, and there's this and there's that and and what have you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So um, right, so this morning, let's have a look. Uh Spurs are happy, and Arsenal are happy. At what point would Spurs have wanting an Arsenal win?

SPEAKER_00

But but you know, that's that's you know. Honestly, that I I mean, I was watching the game, obviously. Yeah, I I had that one down as the game where there might be a potential slip-up because it was just a huge game for West Ham. Let's obviously, you know, the repercussions of this decision have now meant goal difference-wise, there's only one team they can catch now. Yeah, and that would have made a difference. That one point would have made a difference uh going into the last two games of the season, and now all of a sudden, after that game, it's literally between them and Tottenham as to who gets relegated. That's it. Everyone else is now mathematically safe.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Before we go to your big win at the weekend, somebody's got to say something. I don't know because there's still another two games to play, but uh he still doesn't know, Mikel Arteta. And do you know how to win the league? I still don't know.

SPEAKER_00

So he also came out and praised VAR. Which is hilarious. The referees had a big decision, and you know, they've got a lot on. Can you imagine if it was the other way around? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, the mental on the sidelines.

SPEAKER_00

As I was watching it, I was thinking this is gonna be Arsenal's day. And then when Pablo went through and one-on-one, and obviously Raya made that outstanding save, that was that was a kind of title-winning save. Uh, and you just thought it's gonna be their day. And then um, I don't know. Can I just talk you through the emotion? Like when the goal went in, I lost it because at that time you'd not realise there'd been, you know, you'd not you you hadn't seen anything that happened to the goalkeeper at all. You just see that like last minute equalizer, and it really does change everything. And not only for me as a City fan, but for all the all the neutrals and all the Arsenal haters who just who just basically want it to go to that last day of the season.

SPEAKER_01

Uh well that's what VAR should have been told, shouldn't it? I mean, you know, if we're talking about inconsistency, you might well have gone, look, give this goal, and then there's like one goal between you, there's two games to go. Think of the TV ratings, think of people watching it, think of people buying shirts, think of people who would never have watched this before with two games to go. This this this would be epic, but you know, it didn't go that way. Can you tell me now? Is uh David Raya the best goalkeeper in the world? I believe he is.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I think he's definitely one of so it used to be Allison and Edison, didn't it, for years and years and years. And and then it was uh is it well Donner Rummer, this second half of the season and Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean Don Donner Rummer's been outstanding, but like the way I'd explain it is every single time I do my fantasy league at the beginning of the season, for the last few years I've put Raya in goal because he's you know, you know he's got making seed many, uh you know they've got a solid defence. Yeah, he's a great keeper.

SPEAKER_01

I think I I think I think he's brilliant. It was now this week that uh football's writer of the year was Bruno Fernandez.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh but uh a few people had um put in for David Rayer.

SPEAKER_00

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets I I I honestly think that he's he is the reason that Arsenal will probably win the league.

SPEAKER_01

And Saliba and Gabriel and Declan Rice, I think.

SPEAKER_00

I think you know Gabriel that the the again here we go could have been could have had a free match man. We could tell that one again inconsistency. There is inconsistency, it's ridiculous. I mean it's really hard. Yeah, what the thing is, I've always got frustrated about that. That the fact that they are so protected goalkeepers. Again, I reckon listen, that incident on its own was probably they were right to disallow the goal. However, there was so much el there was loads of other stuff going on, and keepers are so protected through set pieces and everything. It's crazy. The slightest touch, and they just fall over, and they know they play for it goalkeepers as well.

SPEAKER_01

Now I know, I know, I know, I know, I know. Right. So let's go back to your to your win at the weekend. I mean, it doesn't have to be a long section, this, because you won. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

We got the job done at home on the wall and we also got three goals, which was great uh at the time. Like you said mentioned, it pretty much evened things up uh from uh from a goal scoring uh situation if it got to that at the end of the season.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know what? If Jeremy Doku had been like this all season, I don't think you'd have kept him. I think he would have gone.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

No, I genuinely think he would have gone. Where? Barcelona.

SPEAKER_00

Listen, no.

SPEAKER_01

Is it Monaco on a tax-free two million quid a week?

SPEAKER_00

He's been an amazing player this year. The thing is, he's been he's been fantastic, he's scoring incredible goals, um, and he has definitely added that to his game. I know we've mentioned this loads during the season, but um, you know, he he was he was quite frustrating to watch because you knew he had it in him. You've seen him doing it before, and uh, you know, I mean Thierry Henri afterwards he was talking about how he you know he's not surprised seeing him score these goals because he he was the coach at at uh at bar at Belgium, and um he used to see him do this all the time, and he he he just said he's he's an outstanding player, and in his his opinion, was going to be one of the best wingers in the world, and I think he is, I think he's he's up there at the minute in that conversation.

SPEAKER_01

But but but at some at some points, because you know you know Pep's like we always said this he he goes for players and like I don't think some many's had a had a game off yet. You know, he got he plays them and he and then you forget about it. I ignore him, I know he's injured, but he played loads of games, then then you don't hear from him for ages. He he he he not fell out of love, but he had a good start to the season, then he fell off a little bit, looks a little bit like Anthony for a while. Yeah, and he and he um a bit like uh Aaron Lennon at times like Anthony.

SPEAKER_00

I mean he's a no, come on, you begin Ganacho. He's he's he's a he's an absolute level above. Uh he's he's fantastic. Um and you know what? I'm I'm I I'm already looking forward to next season. Um because you know, if we and also I mean this Saturday, I'm going down to Wembley again. We've got a big game. It's obviously FA Cup final against Chelsea. Um, and if we win that, we've won two cop two cup competitions. Won two cocks. Two cup competitions.

SPEAKER_01

Well, speaking of two cocks, right? Uh here's one for you. Two cocks. Um Agate and Um Joshua Xerxe say they would like to stay in Manchester. So they didn't specifically say which club. So I am giving you a little a little a little gift. You can have Xerxes and uh and Agate next season. They want to stay in Manchester, they haven't said which club. If you want them, you can have them. So I want to talk about United, right? Because I know it's all been City and everything, but it's been City in Arsenal and West Ham and Tottenham down the other end. Um, but at the weekend, I think it was really good that um Casemiro wasn't available. Uh and Sheshko was injured, so he played Xerxes at the weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Who I I don't want to be horrible, he's he's not good enough. He's not he's not good enough for the Amerin squad, and he's not good, he's not good enough for this squad, and especially not going forward. He says he loves the club, he wants to stay. It was his time to shine and prove a point. I think when was it Tenagu signed him and he thought he'd sign a striker and he's not a striker. Uh so he he he played in the um up front and um he was he was no good. Yeah. So so so it's time to get rid of that. Also, um Mount and Mainu played together, which says to me that oh my god, that's a big hole to fill is is Casemiro.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. This is the thing you see, Casemiro's going 100%. You're talking now about players that need to be uh moved on as well. Uh you're obviously in the Champions League, you're gonna have a lot more games as long as you do better in the uh cup competitions than you did last year, um, then you're gonna have a lot more games. You are gonna have to um bring in a lot of players. It's almost like a huge rebuild on top of what you've already got because so many are gonna be going for leaving.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um and you need to that that squad needs to have the depth now to be able to play in the Champions League. Do you know what as well? It's crazy because because of um the situation with the European Cups and stuff, there could be a sixth place, it looks like, that could fit in the Champions League.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, then I am right, he he knows that competition inside out and he's pretty much sacrificed the league for it, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So either Bournemouth or potentially Brighton could get in the Champions League. And I feel like like what I've just said with the squad depth and everything else, especially with uh Bournemouth, because their managers leaving as well at the end of the season. Um how do you get Champions League? They could go, they could go from being a Champions League team next year to be in relegation fodder because of how many games there are to play and the squad depth that they've got. So is it worth I mean it must be amazing. I mean, literally a few got I think it was about a few years ago that you know they were literally way down the divisions, and now they could be in the Champions League. So it's a fairy tale story, but what what they haven't got a manager and they've flogged all the best players.

SPEAKER_01

So that cash is still kicking around, they'll get all the cash from the Champions League, but it's to you know, it's it's gonna be one of those ones. I it screwed Newcastle up, didn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly. Because but they uh but they're also gonna be managerless, and then a new manager comes in, gets used to his squad.

SPEAKER_01

But what a gig though, for somebody who's probably thinking about it, a mid-table manager, they could probably now get somebody slightly better than that because of if you're walking into a club with Champions League, yeah, that that becomes, you know, like uh whether you rate Josie or don't, that sort of level now, you're not going in there as a you know, bottom four team, you're going in there and and you're starting with Champions League and you've probably got a bit of budget to spend. Do you know what it needs? It needs a wheeler dealer going in there. I'm not talking about Harry Rednapp, but it needs somebody going in there who can get the not the hook, not said hooky deals, but the Brazilian, Argentinian, Mexican kids. You know, the the ones with an agent that could just get you in there and say, look, you play two years here, then we'll get you off to Barcelona or you know, City or United or Arsenal or something like that. Give us give us a good year here. Um and you've got Champions League because there'll be a lot of players looking at Bournemouth.

SPEAKER_00

This is where Emery's done really well at Aston Villa as well, because he's he's kind of added to the squad, but not in a way with with some brilliant loan deals over the last couple of seasons, and it's got him obviously now to another final. He's a great manager. He really is.

SPEAKER_01

There is gonna be so much, you know, manager change and churn. Because we talk about every week. If Pep goes and Carrot goes, so does Emory then go, I'll go there, and where does Silver want to go? And you know it's gonna be loads, and there's so many clubs that are managerless, yeah, you know, and and and there aren't that many absolute top, top, top quality managers out there that that are free or can be bought out of the contract. So if you are an half-decent manager, it's now your time, isn't it? Like a few years ago, you used to be keepers and then strikers. If you're a half-decent manager now, you can come in and play Premier League and get yourself in the in the in the um and Champions League already from day one.

SPEAKER_00

It can be quite frustrating as well during a World Cup or a Euros um obviously year, because um, you know, you the players that you want to sign can be away on international duty and it can be quite hard, and then it gets quite close to the start of the season by the time you get these players in, and then it takes you a kind of a month or two to get going because obviously they've not played together as a squad, and these this is why it's just so important to get your deals done really early in the business if you can, especially with it being a World Cup year.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this is what Liverpool are really good at, you know. There's me saying this, but um Liverpool signed a couple of quiet quiet players, you know, mid-season or just keep it keep it down. We're just saying where's that where's that transfer come from?

SPEAKER_00

Uh a couple of really good ones, and there's also there's also like um a huge hike in the cash. It goes up ridiculous, depending on if they've had a good tournament or not. A player that could be worth kind of 50 million now uh goes and has a worldie in the at the World Cup and ends up being a hundred million player just off a tournament.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I um looking at United, um I mean this wasn't a second string squad, it was probably our 1.1 squad at the weekend and look, we've got to rebuild, you've got to add numbers and bodies in there and a bit of class, and which which I think they will do. I don't know the foot's off the gas, Alex Sunderland, and like that there was just little effort being put in. And I thought, right, if you're Joshua Zerksey who wants to stay on Mason Mount who who wants to stay, right, don't be saying to the press that you want to stay. Go and put a shift in. You know, this was your this is your time to shine. You know, if if you're hanging around, and this is probably the worst analogy ever, I'm hanging around uh at the one show, and then whoever oasts it now is ill that day. Oh, Joel, you come on in. You yeah, welcome to one show, you know. Well, whatever. Yeah. I want it, I'm then ready for it, and I'll and I'll be the best I possibly can be. And you put a shift in.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

This this this lad or the two lads just didn't didn't look good at all.

SPEAKER_00

It's hard though, isn't it? I mean, when you've been playing people say he's a nice guy, it's like, oh great. When you've not been playing for ages and then you get your opportunity, sometimes you can overtry. I know it happens a lot with strikers, but yeah, I I know exactly what you mean. You as a fan, you just expect someone to come in and just go for it and take their opportunity. But sometimes lack of match fitness, um, you know, just everything that goes with it can just affect your performance.

SPEAKER_01

Marcus Rashford scored an absolute belt-in free kick last night. Amazing. El Clasico went to go on to win the league for Barcelona. First time it's been done by Barcelona, I think, at uh an El Clasico.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Real Madrid looked a little bit, you know. I know they've got a lot of injuries and whatever. Uh, it wasn't one of the best El Clasicos you've ever seen. But they've got that £25 million fee if they want him permanently. And I still don't know if that's going to happen.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what they're up to now with the cash flow, but I know that Barcelona have had a good few problems over the years. I mean, they've they've they they've not been able to pay certain clubs for players that they owe money to. They've got quite a lot of debt going on at the minute. I don't know. I honestly don't know. But I don't think they're in a position still to be able to just go this, this, this. So surely that amount of money for Rashford is a done deal. It's got to be.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you would think so, but if I was the money guy at Manchester United, and as you know me, Nigel, I'm the I'm like the opposite of Martin Lewis, a money-saving expert. Yeah I I am awful with money. But if they're not paying that 25 mil, you bring him back to United for a year surely is worth more than that m you know, more than 25 million to another club.

SPEAKER_00

Depends, it depends. When a player wants to be somewhere, their performance levels are so much better. And I know he's obviously Man United is one of your own, but he's had that much trouble. Yeah. Surely there's no going back for Rashford to United. There can't be. There can't be.

SPEAKER_01

But would you not bring him back and then flog him? Or send him out and send him out alone somewhere.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

You're telling me that how many Premier League clubs would not want Marcus Rashford? Yeah, but not a fit. Uh smiley, happy, quick, banging in goals, Marcus Rashford.

SPEAKER_00

You can't be saying now, you can't be going back to that. Surely you've moved on, you've moved on from managers, you're moving on from all this uh the ups and downs that you've had that continue to happen. I I don't know. I mean, if you bring him back and give it carrick, I've been there.

SPEAKER_01

You'll be laughing. Um so Edison, not the goalkeeper, Edison from Atalanta, um, defensive midfielder. Looks like that might be a done deal by the time this podcast uh drops today. Spent four years at Atalanta. I think it's like is he 26 or something like that? Um looks like it's gonna be like 45 million quid. Decent player. Um, but we need another couple, need another couple of those. Need a definitely need a striker. Definitely need definitely need a striker. And I think it's gonna be a worldie because at the minute we have only got Sheshko. He's injured at the moment, and we haven't got a backup to him. Uh, you know, Cunya can play there.

SPEAKER_00

And who are the worldies that you would see going to United? I know now you're in the Champions League, it's more attractive for a striker, but who? Who do you honestly think you could sign?

SPEAKER_01

Uh Victor Oshiman.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

100%. And how old's he what is he? What mid-20s, late 20s? You know, but but you've seen him play. Yeah. He knocks him in. I think there's some issues with, you know, I don't know the lad. But you know, it's not like all the Premier League teams were fighting over sign him because people will have played with him, people know him. There's obviously an edge there, you know, like, you know, there's an there's a there's an edge. That's that's the lad that I'd go for, 100%. But you never know. Um, I wrote uh Yokarezov, and he's he's ended up like breaking records for you know a young striker in the Premier League in the first season. He's up there with Thierry Henri. And you know, so I got that wrong. I thought, uh, is it Voltemada at uh Newcastle, who was no price. It's a good start, and I thought, and the way it looks as well, and don't say that's wrong, the way he looks, I thought he looks like an old school uh Newcastle sort of player, and he started off really well and then couldn't get any minutes, and he he's he's he's fallen off a cliff, and then poor um your man at um Liverpool a Katique gets himself injured, so he misses the World Cup as well, and he was he was he was great. Um but no, I I I'd go I'd go big victory.

SPEAKER_00

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. Well, you know, you've you you've got your backup to Haaland, which is uh Marmoush. Would you would you be looking at another striker?

SPEAKER_00

If Marmous stays, then no, but I don't know. I mean, hopefully he does. I really do. I think he you know he linked up really well with Haaland. That goal was fantastic. He took it really well uh for City's third the other night. Is he good enough? Um he he's a he's a great player. Is he gonna uh he's just not gonna and the thing is, it doesn't matter how good our number two striker is. Pep's only gonna play one, they're gonna get a few opportunities during the season, but you're always gonna be if you're signing for City, you're always Back up to Haaland. It's so a lot of the time you've had two strikers and you go, it's great because they're both playing, so you know they're both going to keep each other on the toes, and you know, that they're gonna put a shift in because they're worried if they don't then they'll be replaced. Haaland is Haaland, he's one of the best strikers in the world. He's always gonna be the first name on the team sheet. If um you know, look at it look at uh Alvarez as well. I mean it was it's crazy. So so what what what why did you get rid of him? We did he wanted to leave because he wasn't getting first team football. But will that not happen to Marmoush? That's what I'm saying, maybe.

SPEAKER_01

But then the same as your goalkeeper. What are you gonna do next year? You've got you've got a world-class goalkeeper and a potential world class goalkeeper in James Trafford. And when he's played for you, he's look he's looked so good. So, you know. I don't I take the piss.

SPEAKER_00

These are better problems to have for City than than not having someone. Having two in each position and then not having one in some. Come on, let's level up.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know you're gonna, you know, you're back in four competitions next year and everything, and you can split it up and you can Who playing goal for the um the cup game at the weekend? Trafford. Yeah. See, which is which is cool, but he thought he was coming there as number one. I mean, you know, he's gonna walk in there and go, Look, at the other side of the coin, Anana wants to come back. Yeah, exactly. I thought we'd got rid of him, but apparently he's on loan. So he wants to come back and fight for his place. Yeah? Take that. Oh my god. Right, what have you got left this season now? I know you've got the cup game this week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we got put first of all, I've got Palace on Wednesday. Right. We've got Palace on Wednesday. My daughter's a mascot, so I can't wait. I'm very excited. She's how she got that. I can't wait. She'll be on the list. No, there was it. Was it a random draw this one? Be on the way till the back door it, yeah. So I can't wait for that. I'm very, very excited to see her. Uh so we've got Palace on Wednesday.

SPEAKER_01

So Palace will play the reserve side.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I don't think.

SPEAKER_01

Because they've got the Europa League Conference League thing, they've got to finish mid-table. So it doesn't matter, does it, really? Give the kids a go. It doesn't, it doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_00

It's difficult now because as a city fan, now you kind of go, right, we've got a huge game at the weekend where we we we know we've got a very good chance, a better chance of winning a trophy than the Premier League, because we're in the final against Chelsea. So do you rest some players on Wednesday, or do you hope that there could be some kind of uh one more twist in the title and go for it? And it's it's a it's a tough call, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Do you know the only one who looks like needs a rest is Semenio for me? I think I think he's gone from you know being outstanding. It was a Bournemouth, wasn't he? He's still very strong, he's still very quick, he's still strong. But he was playing about one game every ten days or something, like the United lot, and he's coming there and it's high intensity and bang, bang, bang. And uh, you know, he's a great player, but he's he looks at he looks tired.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean I I don't know. I'd start I'd definitely start him against Palace. I don't know if you're gonna be. Sorry, Samengo! Sorry, I know you're tired, love, but Niger start ya. No, I would I'd start he's he's a class player.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, all right. So what you got next after that?

SPEAKER_00

After that, we've got the FA Cup final, um, which again I'm very much looking forward to. I'm gonna be hosting the fan zone down at Wembley. So if you're coming down, come to the fan zone. It's good laugh outside the stadium, and it will it will be brilliant in there. It'll go off this weekend. Can't wait.

SPEAKER_01

And if you say to Nigel, visit Barbados.com, it'll buy you a free beer. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um I mean you should I mean you should win that, shouldn't you? Yeah. Well we'll see. I mean as a United fan, I'm going, I mean Chelsea have got all sorts of problems. All sorts of problems.

SPEAKER_00

I know, they're not looking good, they're not looking good, but then you know, they they got they got a result, uh, well, an alright result against Liverpool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's one-one, but I mean you know, they didn't look good.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they they've they've still got players. It's not it's not a done deal that, and it does worry me because you never know what's gonna happen. In a final, will Pep play his best team or will he uh you know keep the faith with with the squad players that have that have got us there? I don't know. Um I'm I'm looking forward to that. Anyway, then the following week we have got uh Bournemouth away, which um that was the one that I was worried about if we were still neck and neck in the title race.

SPEAKER_01

But their big their big run's gone, hasn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, because they're still battling for we've just mentioned sixth place to get in the Champions League, potentially. So they've got all everything to play for.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So that's a big game. That's a big game. And then the last game of the season is Aston Villa.

SPEAKER_01

Um which would they don't care? Well, let's just see what's they'll they'll win the Europa League anyway. So they're gonna get Champions League next season, yeah, don't matter where they finish. Well, it should that that hang on, didn't Man Man United say that last year? We'll beat Spurs in this final. Imagine that. Imagine if we'd beaten Spurs. Right? Two of the worst teams in the league last year. If we'd beaten Spurs in the Europa League final and got Champions League, oh, to be fair, we should have probably played three games and got kicked out.

SPEAKER_00

How funny would it be if Burnley beat Arsenal?

SPEAKER_01

See, this is what I mean. This is football. How funny would it be? But how many people are gonna be wearing the Burnley shirts? I certainly will be. I really okay. Even though I've still got 100 quid on um Arsenal at 41, because I I think it's I think it's done. I I that there's there's two there's two there's not enough. I can't see Arsenal losing it from here. I genuinely I can't.

SPEAKER_00

No, why can't I? And it's in and it's in the thing, I'll tell you what's horrible. I I there's whilst there's a chance as as a as a fan, as a city fan, if you were in this situation as a United fan, whilst there's a chance, I'll always believe that something can happen. And because of that, it doesn't do my health any good. I'll always I'll always kind of just just hold on to that little bit of hope. That's just the kind of guy I am. So it's not over yet. But it is going to be a good idea.

SPEAKER_01

It goes back to that decision at the weekend though, Nigel. Imagine how different you would have been coming in here today if that goal had have been given yesterday.

SPEAKER_00

It's just horrible. Like when the goal went in, I literally I went absolutely nuts. I was I I really did. And then and then you calm down and you look and you go, Oh, forgot about V A R. And then you just go, right, here we go. And then We listened to Gary Neville as well. And then it's a goal, it's a goal. He knows what he's doing, doesn't he? Um and then and then and then you just you're just waiting, and then and then it comes out that they've looked at it about 17 times, 17 different angles, should I say, right? So surely if that's happening, uh and then the ref goes to the monitor. And then and that this is it, and then and then it's five minutes, five minutes, and no consistency, and you kind of go, they're gonna give it. And then he goes to the monitor. As soon as anyone goes to the monitor, you know, you know it's done, don't you? You know it's done. Um yeah. Gutted, absolutely gutted, but there we go. While there's still a little bit of hope. Still a little bit of hope. Yeah, honestly. I mean, you know, it looks highly unlikely now that we're gonna win the league. But again. For what? It does. Highly unlikely. Yeah. Understating that a little bit. I know. Like, you know what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_01

Um this is gonna be followed by it would it would be funny if Burnley absolutely smashed our side.

SPEAKER_00

I'll tell you what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say this. Again, silly mistakes and games that we should have won are the reason why we've not won this league if we don't win it. Um, and that isn't it's not because of that decision the other day. Uh although at the start of the season, with a rebuild, with everything that's happened to Man City, if we do end up winning the FA Cup this weekend, which I'm quite confident we will, two trophies in the bag, that is a good season. And next season, I cannot wait because these players will have played with each other for a whole season. Uh, and you know, we're gonna bring in some new some new signings over the summer. A few legends are gonna leave. Um, you know, it's just exciting.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, well, as a man United fan, I'm I'm fairly happy with the season. Well, you've got to be any look where we finished last season. And I said on the episode one of this, the prediction was we finished second, and you were like, Are you serious? I was like, Yeah, that's a big jump there. You're finishing second. Um, but I'm as a United fan, I'm happy. Um, I I I think that's a great season after the shower that we've had before. Um, so I'm I'm happy. Now they're not messing about. Thursday, they've got their new shirt out for next season, and they're gonna wear it for the final two games. I mean, come on, let's get it out there straight away. They've they've launched all the hospitality for the Champions League next year. Um I've also booked uh a little hotel uh June the 5th at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid for the Champions League final. So I've got myself a little hotel there. Right. So that'll be good. No, but I'm I'm happy. I'm I'm happy. Um do some business, let them get on with it. This is the first proper time they're able to do business. Get this manager thing sorted straight away. He's either your man or he's not. And I think I said yes uh last week. Um they've probably made their decision. Uh, this game didn't count. It doesn't matter, right? He's either been told, or we have been told, but just make the decision now and then let whoever's going to be in charge be in charge of the players that you you bring in with a little bit of guidance from upstairs and everything. Well, old school. Here's the list of players that I really want.

SPEAKER_00

This this is why I mentioned about uh getting players in early in the window, as soon as the window starts with it being a World Cup year. If you're approaching players now, which no doubt that's happening, those players are gonna be asking questions, and the first question is who's my manager gonna be? So they must, they must be able to answer that question. Otherwise, as a footballer, why would you go to a club, even though it's United, who used to be amazing, why would you go to a club and not know who the manager's gonna be?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I've been in that situation, completely different line of work. But I've been there and someone's given me a contract, and and I I've said, Who's me, you know, who's my line manager? Who's my manager? Because it is it's important to me. Yeah, it's important to me, um, and it and it would be important.

SPEAKER_00

But the thing is, as well, these players, the top end players that you're talking about now, have got options. So you're comparing it to work and you just want to work for one of the big boys, right? That's what you've done. You've had a decent career, uh, so that's what you do. So, but there are so many different incredible teams available to the world's best. They want to know who their manager is, and if they're having conversations now, the same can be said about City because is Pep going to be there next year? And the players that we're trying to bring in, I don't know, but there's a bit more success at City at the minute to sign for City and to play with the players that they've got there under the trophies that they win every single year continuously. So the appeal is a bit is a bit higher. A lot higher. No, no, I don't agree. I don't agree.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, would Liverpool be in the state they're in now without Klopp? Sorry, with with with Klopp in there?

SPEAKER_00

They would have been in the right up at the top of the league.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Okay, so you've got that. So Pep Leaves, Pep Leaves, I we don't know who's coming in. It may be somebody you've never heard of, or one of these randoms. How many of them do you have to go through? Because it happens to every club. You know, it happens to every club, doesn't matter how big you are, and they bring in the one after the big guy. You know, David Moyes comes in, you know, like David Moyes, he comes in, but it was never, ever, ever gonna work. And then they start bringing in the big names, and then the young, the young people, and the caretaker managers and the club legends, and they're still trying to get to. And what's that? 15 years? We're still trying. And this, my friend, is gonna happen to you.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think it is. I think Pep, I I I I believe Pep will be there next year. I don't if he isn't, if he isn't, I think it'll be Moresca.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I think that will be the case because company isn't available, and I think company will come in a couple of after, yeah. 100% million percent I'd have Vincent Company as manager of Manchester City.

SPEAKER_01

You know, as a person, I like him. As a footballer, he's brilliant. As a manager, what what has he done to get, first of all, the job at Bay Munich? Got relegated with Burnley and swore a lot on the television.

SPEAKER_00

He's got them, he's won the league, he's won the league over there cup competition and the Champions League. And he's done very well in the Champions League. He's lost to the team that are gonna win it, PSG.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That won it last year in the semi-final. That is not bad. And the games were the first, especially the first leg, absolutely insane. He plays attacking football with an amazing squad of players. Yes. He's he's he's got he's he's a quality manager. Right, so I would have him, I would have him at City like that after Pep.

SPEAKER_01

Me and you, me and you turn up at by Munich, like in a comedy Salford way where we were joint managers. Uh are we winning the league at Bay Munich with those players?

SPEAKER_00

No, you're not you're not getting it. No, no, no, no, yeah. This is similar to the city. You can stick anybody in there. I don't you're talking about Carrick coming and getting the job there at United. What's Carrick done? What's he done? Yeah, but I'm I'm not for Carrick. I've said that before because I know how it ends. So you don't think I think Carrick will get the job. For me, but for now, if Pep leaves, I hope he's here next year. If he leaves, I think it's Mureska. Nah. I genuinely.

SPEAKER_01

So it's not, it's not anyway. It's it's Big Ange.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, do you know what? I'd uh if I if I was a billionaire, I would I'd pay whoever was doing that just for a gag. Big Ange goes into Man City.

unknown

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's just it's just the way we're tonight.

SPEAKER_00

I tell you what I want to go to now, then, if you're going down this list, if you're going here now, I want to say congratulations to Rochdale, who've done it and got up back into the Football League at Wembley. We're recording this on Monday. It was yesterday. Uh it was squeaky bum time again after everything that's happened in the league, and they've got there on penalties. Rochdale, well done to you.

SPEAKER_01

But York have gone up as well. Yeah, I know, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they've got automatically.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, bus tour at the weekend. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So well done. So we both got it right, didn't we? Yeah, exactly. Both got it right. Uh, well, thanks for listening. We've got Forrest to come. Uh and then Wembley! Wembley! Well, the famous man's city, yeah. We're going to Wembley. Do you know what? I I can't even I can't even do you. Next year, it will be one of our seasons. It will be more competitive. It's there. This is the season, next season, but whose is it gonna be? Is it gonna be Manager La City? The downfall is coming. Is it heck? Or is it the turnaround? Turnaround of Man United.

SPEAKER_00

Or is it another manager's act after a couple of weeks in and then starting again with another manager? Yeah, and because and Rashford's back moaning and gone on strike again. That's exactly what's happening. It's an absolute circus.

SPEAKER_01

Give it well, we've got the circus tent coming. Give it big Sam till Christmas. Thanks for listening, and we'll catch you later in the week.
