What'd you say? Born ready?
SPEAKER_02I said born. Born ready.
SPEAKER_00Did you call me a lady?
SPEAKER_02No, I said born ready, Broski.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I thought you said something after that.
SPEAKER_02No, I said born ready.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Well, ready as into this episode because it's already started.
SPEAKER_02Welcome back to the Daddy You Should Never Say That podcast. A podcast about the daddy-daughter duo saying things that we should not be saying and talking about the most random shit that we can come up with. That's all I got.
SPEAKER_00I mean, we have topics sometimes. It's not always random.
SPEAKER_02Well, we pick topics and we've tried to talk about the same thing for three episodes and we never got to it. And now I don't even remember what that topic was.
SPEAKER_00I think we were gonna maybe go back to some sort of paranormal thing.
SPEAKER_02No, that's still on the books. Also, welcome back to episode 24.5. Our special guest was not available this week, but they will be here next week. So next week will be episode 25.
SPEAKER_00But you can find that because I don't want to start doing like 24.7 and then 8.1, and we're gonna have like 10 episodes before we actually hit 25.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. It'll be it won't be that bad.
SPEAKER_00Which technically we're already over 25 episodes.
SPEAKER_02This is technically episode 27.
SPEAKER_00Maybe, yeah, I can't remember. Do we do two? Ah, who knows? Anyway.
SPEAKER_02Who knows? 26 or 27.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, um, for those that don't know, uh, this week is spring break week in Texas.
SPEAKER_02Well, for some part of Texas.
SPEAKER_00Like last week. Central Texas. Last week was some Canyon had theirs last week, so not all of Central Texas.
SPEAKER_02A M had theirs last week as well as uh SFA and some other places. But the cool kids have their spring break this week.
SPEAKER_00Correct. So maybe some follow AM and then some follow UT.
SPEAKER_02UT, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And UT usually has theirs when uh South by South by Southwest is happening. And for if you don't know what South by is, um it is chaos downtown. We won't tell you what it's all about.
SPEAKER_01Why you have Google it.
SPEAKER_00But be careful.
SPEAKER_02Which we learned that Google used to be what was it called? Um back touch.
SPEAKER_00Back touch.
SPEAKER_02Back rub.
SPEAKER_00Back rub.
SPEAKER_02Google used to be called back rub.
SPEAKER_00The very first, yeah. So the more you know. I totally forgot about it.
SPEAKER_02Actually, back rub it.
SPEAKER_00That should be a uh that should be a hard trivia question. And for those that okay, if you and your friends want something fun to do, and you have an Apple TV, or maybe a Roku, I don't even know what the hell that thing's all on. It's called Jackbox Games, and it's all online. Not online, it's on your TV, and you use your phone, you can have up to six or eight people, I can't remember, but everybody uses own phone to do the answers, and then it's like a game. You can play with six people, and it's usually trivia-ish based. Or you have to figure out like family feud, what the what the best answer is.
SPEAKER_02Um there's like joke ones where like you make jokes and you kind of like diss on your friends.
SPEAKER_00And there's what the draw, do you have to draw t-shirts?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's really fun.
SPEAKER_00People's artistic skills, whether they suck or not.
SPEAKER_02We don't play that one very often because we aren't very I'm not very artistically inclusive.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's hard to draw with your finger.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, on your phone it's difficult. Um but yeah, we've had it for a couple years now. We've made all my friends play it. We played at college with a group of people. Um, it's really fun. Anyway, there's a there's one called Trivia Murder Party. Um, which is trivia, which is my favorite, but then there's another one where it's like you come up with fake answers, and one of the questions was like, when what was the first name of Google? And it we looked, and everybody was like, That's such I was like, who wrote that? That's so dumb. Ha ha ha, it could never be that. And then it was Backrub, and we were like, What the heck? And nobody got it, and we were very we were very confused.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, why I don't even know backrub.com.
SPEAKER_02That sounds yeah, why sounds a little risque.
SPEAKER_00I guess Google is a made up word. Was Google a word?
SPEAKER_02Doesn't it stand for something?
SPEAKER_00I have no clue. That's above my pay grade.
SPEAKER_02That is true.
SPEAKER_00Um I remember when we didn't have the internet.
SPEAKER_02It is spring break. We've done a lot of nothing. Um we've hung out with a bunch of people. We went and saw, oh, we went and saw Scream Seven with Yes. We took a group of there were seven of us and we went to saw Scream 7, five college-age kids, and then my both my parents. My mom was not very happy about it because she doesn't really like scary movies.
SPEAKER_00Um, she had the option not to go.
SPEAKER_02She did have the option not to go, and she chose to come.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So she made it until about five minutes left in the movie, which she could have made it the whole time because the last five minutes nothing really happened. But yeah, but I like the Scream franchise, but that one was that one was rough. That one was gory. I thought they were worse than all the other ones.
SPEAKER_00I thought they were like that.
SPEAKER_02They're all gory, but that one was probably the worst. Because I can watch the other ones and not really like have to close my eyes or anything like that. But that one there were moments where I had to be like, nope, can't watch this one.
SPEAKER_00I think when the girl was like swinging in the auditorium and her guts were hanging out, was probably.
SPEAKER_02That one happened in the second or third movie. Like that already happened, so I kind of knew it was coming. No, the worst one was the bar scene, which we're not gonna spoil it, but the bar scene, in my opinion, was the worst one. I didn't look for that one. I just I knew what was coming, so I didn't look.
SPEAKER_00You covered your eye, your eyes.
SPEAKER_02I did I covered I covered my eyes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was fun.
SPEAKER_02But well, we did that. Um we took a fajitas. Yeah, and the next day we ate fajitas. Well, the girlies went and go, we went to go tan. We went to the river, which was really nice. It was very cold, and there was a lot of people, but we did find like the perfect parking spot where we were like 10 feet away from where we were trying to go, and there was like no other parking, so that was awesome. Tanned for a couple hours, came home. We ate fajitas as a family of like nine or eight. Yeah, there's a lot of people here, and then we just hung out. Yeah. On Saturday, and then our girlfriend left to go back to school. She stole her, she kidnapped her sister and took her sister to college with her for the week. Poor Allison.
SPEAKER_00Valin Al.
SPEAKER_02Valin Al. Um, but yeah, no, it's been it's been fun. I got a tattoo yesterday with my mom, which really, really hurt. Was up on my collarbone, which was not fun. But it's really pretty, so it's worth it. Still hurts right now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'll hurt for a while, especially there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um what is today's date? Is it Thursday yet?
SPEAKER_02Yep, March 19th.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02We always film on Thursdays.
SPEAKER_00Uh, we film on Fridays, sometimes on Saturdays. Depends.
SPEAKER_02We try to film on Thursdays. But we're busy, we're busy people.
SPEAKER_00Uh today is the first games of March Madness.
SPEAKER_02We may lose listeners.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think people need to know the history that we have what I have made Addie watch college basketball since she was like two.
SPEAKER_02And I'll tell you this right now, I still don't know half the rules of basketball. And I only watch I only watch the games of the one team that I like. And I don't watch any other basketball.
SPEAKER_00Two teams.
SPEAKER_02Okay, the two teams that I like. I don't watch any other basketball because I don't really understand it.
SPEAKER_00Well, I only I don't like NBA anymore. I used to, but now they're all just over overpaid babies.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then uh so Addy has actually been to an NCAA Final Four.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I did.
SPEAKER_00We've made her watch a whole bunch of basketball on TV. Um college basketball. College basketball. And uh you know, somehow I guess maybe it's because the two or three teams that her dad always just watches, that's how this particular team has somewhat uh I don't know, become maybe not her favorite, but her in loyalty to her father, her definitely my favorite team. What?
SPEAKER_01It's definitely my favorite team at this point.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's yeah, I guess 18 years of it being stuffed in your face. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I've stolen a lot of your shirts for this team. I have some of my own shirts for this team, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00So all of those listening, the five of you, maybe eight of you. I think one of our episodes has a has actually a lot of people listening to it. So maybe people are going back and listening to these, but they'll miss our awesome predictions for Final Four.
SPEAKER_02Um Well, obviously, okay, so the team we're talking about, I'm just gonna go out here and say it. It's the number one seed right now. It's Duke. Um that's our team.
SPEAKER_00Duke's.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, most people hate a lot of people hate Duke, but you know what? They've lost two games so far. One of them to um my gosh. What is the name? What is the name of the school?
SPEAKER_00UNC.
SPEAKER_02Right, UNC, I'm sorry. And then they lost to tech, which I'm gonna tell you right now. The tech loss I'm okay with.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_02The tech loss I'm okay with because it's my school.
SPEAKER_00Did tech even make the final four?
SPEAKER_02I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00Ugh.
SPEAKER_02Um they are I'm looking right now.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. Um anyway, Duke's had to watch, and I became a fan of Duke in Tech is number five right now. There are five seeds. Five seeds. Yeah, they're seed five. Okay. Yeah, yeah. That must have mean they did pretty good in the tournament.
SPEAKER_02They play tomorrow against the Big 12 tournament. Or a acron beacon journal. Oh.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Akron. They're playing Akron.
SPEAKER_00The green logo.
SPEAKER_02That looks like. And they're playing in uh Florida.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But they're playing number 12, and we're number five, so well, that's the 12 and 5 and 11 and 6. Is it 11 and 6? No. 12, 5, 11, 6. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Wait, what is 12 and 5? 17?
SPEAKER_02Why are you adding them?
SPEAKER_00No, no, I was trying to figure out.
SPEAKER_02Why are we adding them?
SPEAKER_00Okay, never mind. Well, because like the one team plays the 16 team. So that's 17. So everything adds up to 17. So that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, 11 and 6.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Dude, my dyslexia just went into my math. And it wasn't mathing in my head.
SPEAKER_02The math is not mathing. Anyway, um, yeah. So we're Duke. I'm I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna put a blanket cover over of where we are Duke fans. Um like them very much. They are in the number one prediction wise, I think they'll make it to the final four again.
SPEAKER_00So per usually. Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, they usually do very good. You know what's crazy? Uh coach Coach K was such an amazing coach for 30 some odd years, whatever.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00John Shire, the new coach, has a better record after four years than Coach K did.
SPEAKER_01Wow, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Pretty I mean, Coach K set it up for him a little bit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00Um that's a pretty ginormous feat because I think Coach K was had like an 800% winning percentage or something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was something crazy. He was awesome.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but um, yeah, I think honestly, I'm gonna say this Texas Tech Athletics is kind of on the up and up, so I think we have a pretty good shot of making it relatively far.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Maybe eight. Well, that's next week, right? Eight is next week.
SPEAKER_00Uh no, yeah, yeah. Well second round is second round is this weekend. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is sweet 16 and then Elite Eight.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I think they'll I think we'll make it to eight. I think we'll make it to Elite Eight. Okay, so here's But I don't think we'll go far within that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, here's the big teams in Duke's bracket. You got Duke, and you know what's crazy is you know Yukon, Connecticut. Yeah, the coach of that is Bobby Hurley's brother.
SPEAKER_03Oh crap.
SPEAKER_00Bobby Hurley, of course, was the point guard in the 90s or whatever when they won like two, three. I don't remember how many. I think they won two championships and could have won a third. And then they have Kansas. So our buddy Rob. We hope you your team loses real big.
SPEAKER_02Yes, we do.
SPEAKER_00Mr. Schaefer, I'm sorry, but no rock chalk jayhawk.
SPEAKER_02Let's just we love you, but go away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02What's uh what's mom's team, Villain Away the what's that thing called?
SPEAKER_00Uh Villanova.
SPEAKER_02Villanova. So that's who we saw, that's who I saw play. Correct. I didn't get to I didn't get to see Duke play. I got to go to a Final Four game that Duke was in. Like Duke was in the Final Four that year, but I went to the game that Duke was not playing in in the Final Four. I went to the other game, and then I wasn't allowed to go to the championship, which was Duke versus Villanova. But I remember but I remember wearing Duke stuff to the game we went to.
SPEAKER_00Duke didn't make it in the final game. It was uh it was North Carolina.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. That's who it was. But we we wore Duke stuff to the North Carolina game. To the North Carolina game that they won. I remember that so vividly because we were just you know I'm like I was like seven or eight, and I'm rolling around in my little Duke stuff to the wrong game.
SPEAKER_00Well, and we were so obnoxious about it too.
SPEAKER_02Oh, 100%, yeah, yeah. Um it's like when we uh well every time we go to a baseball game, we don't really care who's playing, but we pick a team, we pick whoever's home, we get the home gear at the stadium, and then we just we be we act like we're lifelong fans.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. Yeah, and we usually sit in like some bougie seats that we've got last minute.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh we have found, dude. If you go to baseball games, there's usually a section in like the 200s or whatever. Um, maybe the three hundreds, depending on the stadium. And you can get tickets like the night before, and you have like your own little concession area. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You have like your own bar.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we've been the uh the uh there's only like seven rows of seats.
SPEAKER_02And they're never full. There's not that many people up there either. It's like the bottom row of the 200s, so you can like put your feet up, like and it's the it's in between the top row and then the bottom row.
SPEAKER_00So I mean, we rolled into was that St. Louis?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think it was St.
SPEAKER_00Louis, and I think we had first row seats.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. We're from Texas, we just drove up here.
SPEAKER_00And so we do uh we try to well, I mean, we've done pretty good every summer. We try to go see some random baseball. Um uh Addy kind of was forced to be an Astros fan because of course her both her parents are hometown Houston people, and we've we've knew we got to party with some of the Astros back in the day. Um, so they're homers to us, and for those that are young, homer means you're gonna go for your home team no matter what. So um Addy's been kind of brought on that. But we just decided that baseball is uh was a fun thing for us to go do because you basically eat and drink for three and a half hours and watch some dudes throw a ball around.
SPEAKER_02So and I love baseball. Baseball's baseball might be my favorite sport. Like I like football.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I know how football works really well, but I also understand baseball really well. So they're definitely my top two. But I think I think watching baseball is like if you watch it in person, it's so much better. Like if you if you only watch baseball on the TV, you're gonna get bored and you're gonna fall asleep. But if you like go to an actual baseball game, dude, it's awesome. And you can get tickets to most baseball games pretty cheap, especially if it's not like a big game. You could probably get tickets for like 20 bucks a person. They may not be great seats, but you can get, and like we said, go like the night before, grab your tickets.
SPEAKER_00$37 for those front row seats in the middle section. With our own our own bar concession stands, uh bathrooms that were not and you had to like show your ticket in order just to get into this area.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there were like inside the it was all closed in. There was AC, like there's couches with TVs, like we felt 37 bucks. We felt yeah, it was pretty bougie for some pretty cheap tickets.
SPEAKER_00I think we did that at the White Sox too, right? Didn't we find that little mezzanine area in the White Sox?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_00Even though we uh we were a little nervous because it's south side of Chicago, but we popped out of that subway and we're like, this ain't no big we were also we were also late to the game.
SPEAKER_02Well, which was I think was funnier. We came in at like inning two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but we made it because I had to get new shoes. Well, and we spent some time, didn't we get we spent some time in the gift shop buying clothes?
SPEAKER_02We did that, but I also had to get new shoes on the way to the subway for that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true. Well, I'm sure some bum like the old ones we left, so it's probably okay. So in tech's bracket, here's your big teams in tech Michigan, Alabama, Iowa State, Iowa State's number two. What?
SPEAKER_02Whoa.
SPEAKER_00So in order for football. Well, I don't know. Apparently they're okay this year. So here's Tech has to play either Alabama, Georgia, or Michigan to get to the sweet 16.
SPEAKER_02I feel like we could probably beat Georgia.
SPEAKER_00Georgia's number eight.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So that's who you're gonna have to directly play if you beat Akron.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But maybe we can do it.
SPEAKER_00Maybe Hofstra beats Alabama.
SPEAKER_02Probably not.
SPEAKER_00Um, they're a 13.
SPEAKER_02Probably, probably not.
SPEAKER_00Let's see.
SPEAKER_02That's the thing I don't understand about the seeds. Why like why is the number one team playing the number 16 team? You know who's gonna win.
SPEAKER_00Well, but yeah, but not always. So that's the advantage of being the number one team and having the great season is that you get to play a lower ranking team to move on. So as the number one, you're probably gonna play number 16, and then hopefully you play number eight, and then hopefully you play number four. So it's the advantage of having a really awesome season, usually. Um, because like let's see what Michigan just for example, Michigan is I feel like it makes more sense for like one to play like six, and then for like seven to play fourteen, like you just wanted random?
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, like it it like match up, like the top ten teams play each other, and then ten through what is it, eighteen play each other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but why are you gonna let ten through whatever play each other when they're the suckier teams?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think because I think that makes more sense of like play the sucky teams against each other, play the good teams against each other. Well, and then when you get later in the bracket then you got sucky teams. Then you have sucky teams playing the good teams.
SPEAKER_00No, I want good teams playing good teams later. Like after you've been watching this for five weeks, I want the good teams playing the good teams. I think I guess that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02I think it I think it just sucks. If you're that number 16, like you you know that you're done. Like there's no way. Who's number 16 right now?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so in Duke's bracket, it's Sienna.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like it's just unfair to put Sienna against who I've never even heard of.
SPEAKER_00Florida.
SPEAKER_02Duke.
SPEAKER_00Florida plays Prairie View AM.
SPEAKER_02So random.
SPEAKER_00Michigan plays Howard.
SPEAKER_02Okay, Howard, I know.
SPEAKER_00And then Arizona plays Long Island.
SPEAKER_02Right. Like, what are we doing? I didn't even know Long Island had a basketball team.
SPEAKER_00Correct.
SPEAKER_02I didn't even know there was a university in Long Island.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. That's what I was about to say. I didn't know they had a college there. I thought it was all like gym, tan, and laundry or whatever that's jersey.
SPEAKER_02There's like multi multi-million dollar apartments and like condos, and that's it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um you know, my favorite uh one of my favorite podcasters lives in Long Island.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the other one lives in New York.
SPEAKER_00Which which guys are those?
SPEAKER_02It's uh the basement yard. They're from New York, and they've uh one of them now lives in Long Island with his family, which is really anyway, they're awesome. That's the only reason I know Long Island exists, by the way.
SPEAKER_00Is because of they live there on the street.
SPEAKER_02Because he lives there and he talks about it on the podcast. I don't know. Because I don't know, I don't really know anything about like New York and Maine. I know like I know Boston, because y'all have been there. I know the Salem Witch trials or whatever, but that's about it when it comes to the the thirteen the original 13 colonies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and we haven't taken you to New York, so no. Plus, you may not want to go there now that it's gonna it's gonna be sucky for a while. Um, so here's the number one seeds Duke, Arizona, Michigan, Florida. There's usually only one or two of those that make it, and then there's some Randos that usually make it. So um you haven't really watched a lot of basketball, but like if Tech got to play Michigan, do you think as sucky as Tech has been the last month or so? Because they were like number one in the Big 12 for a little bit, and then they died.
SPEAKER_02Then we dropped.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So do you think Texas Tech could beat a Michigan?
SPEAKER_02I think it would be a tough game, if I'm being honest, but I I honestly think that we could do it. I mean, look at our football team. Yeah, we got farther than anybody ever expected us to. Did we drop the ball completely? Yes, which I'm also a little nervous about that we're gonna get up there on that big stage, which we haven't been on really.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna drop the ball.
SPEAKER_00Well, Michigan is 31 and 3.
SPEAKER_02What is tech?
SPEAKER_00Uh Tech's final season. They ended up being tech was 22 and 10.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's a problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yep, that's a problem.
SPEAKER_00But I mean, they were like fourth in the Big 12. So they just four in a row.
SPEAKER_02I'll tell you this right now. I'm looking at the stats, our three-point range is third, and our free throw line is second. And our rebound, our rebound is ranked third.
SPEAKER_00But you lost three in a row.
SPEAKER_02So however, our defense is ranked 146th.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I mean, there's only like 160 D1 basketball team, so and then our offense is ranked 41st. Huh.
SPEAKER_02So I mean, I think I think if they like get it together a little bit more and they stop being cocky, I think we'll I think I think we could do it, but I think it would take a minute.
SPEAKER_00Well, we'll see.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, no, I don't I don't know much about basketball itself. My friends have tried to teach me.
SPEAKER_00You can throw the ball on the hoop. It's not that hard.
SPEAKER_02I get that, but it's like all the fouls and whatever, like that. Also, I feel like the other reason I don't like watching it's the same reason I don't like watching men's soccer, is I feel like every time someone gets fouled, they like act like they're dying and they need to go to the ambulance. Like it's like when you watch like men's soccer and somebody like barely gets close to them, they like drop to the ground.
SPEAKER_00Well, that is a real deal in soccer.
SPEAKER_02I think it's but I feel like I've I've seen that happen in basketball, and it just makes me be like, what are we doing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there is I I don't really see a lot of flopping in college, but I definitely see a lot of flopping in MBA. Oh, for sure, yeah. Like LeBron James barely gets touched, and then he's like in the first row. Oh my uh knee or my elbow, or anyway. So Florida is number one in one of the things, and uh, they're the defending champions.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. So I'm hoping No, I think I think Duke could do it.
SPEAKER_00I hope they falter.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah.
SPEAKER_00They definitely get a uh I mean that UConn game, hopefully UConn loses, but I don't really see how unless UCLA beats him. So it could be uh Hurley versus Hurley's uh old team again. And uh Dan Hurley is a really, really, really good coach.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh University of Illinois made it this year.
SPEAKER_02Yes, with one U of I.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, U of If I were where Gramps taught. They're number one.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_00They're number three in the uh Florida region. North Carolina barely made it. They're in the same region as Illinois and Houston. So that one's gonna be.
SPEAKER_02Why are they in the same region?
SPEAKER_00Well, it's just all kind of like they try not to do teams that have played each other before uh a lot, so they rarely, you know, they uh okay.
SPEAKER_02I'll tell you right now. I just confirmed our special guest next week.
SPEAKER_00Who is it?
SPEAKER_02Not telling you. But we are gonna have to move filming.
SPEAKER_00So Okay, so that's gonna be Tuesday or Wednesday.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's gonna be Wednesday. Because you want to tell them why, Papa? What are we doing next weekend?
SPEAKER_00We are gonna travel kind of our normal style. Like we're gonna uh we gotta go here and then go here and then go here just to get out on the damn airplane.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I'm getting I'm flying, I'm flying from one, I'm so I'm going to the airport. I'm taking a flight from one airport to another airport, and then Micah's gonna pick me up from that airport to drive to an airport in the same city that's a different airport, right? To then get on a plane, and then we're gonna fly somewhere, and then we gotta pick up a rental car.
SPEAKER_00And drive two hours.
SPEAKER_02Which we we we looked at the rental cars, and there are some it's some weird things that you can rent. Like there were things from like Mustangs to like big trucks to like your mom cars, and um, we obviously went unconventional.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we went with uh dad truck kind of thing. Yeah, we went with off-road F S UV. Just because we like you're not gonna catch us driving like a small little Hyundai.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. I think when we went to Canada, we uh we got a sports car, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we got a uh challenge, we got a challenger.
SPEAKER_02It was just us two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was a two-door challenger. That was fun. But it had a V6 in it. We couldn't even really go there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we can't even go anywhere. It was in Canada, so it's not surprising. Then we had to learn how to drive on the other side of the road. It was a little rough. But anyway, yeah, we're traveling. And we get yeah, you're right. We gotta get the car, then we gotta drive two hours to where we're actually going. To my parents near Pops' house. So it'll be it'll be a long time.
SPEAKER_002 30 in the morning when we get there. Because we're doing yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh like leave a key under the mat for us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I guess you know your dad, your dad's not gonna be awake.
SPEAKER_00We can sleep in the truck, maybe. Just kidding. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh our off our off-roading vehicle.
SPEAKER_00And then we're so we're just gonna hang out with the with the grands for a bit, and then we get to go maybe see a few of our our favorite little niece. I don't even know if she knows we're coming.
SPEAKER_02I don't think she does. I think I I don't think she does.
SPEAKER_00I think I told Zach maybe to just hush it. Yeah, kind of like so we can surprise her. So Saturday morning is when we're going to the circus. And my niece.
SPEAKER_02Which, by the way.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, she's awesome. I love Bethany. Like, I don't know what is up with Illinois schools, but why do we have a circus option in school?
SPEAKER_00No, no, it's not part of the school.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I thought she was part of her circus in her school.
SPEAKER_00No, it's like the big, it's like a Bloomington circus and something like I guess she it happens every year. I could have all this wrong. This is just my understanding, but somehow she like tried out for it, and she has some major part in it that I guess we'll figure out what that is on Saturday when we get there, and then we'll go all go to lunch. Uh that'll be fun. Yeah, we're gonna do some uh and then we have to fly back Sunday night.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. We have to fly back Sunday night, sleep in a hotel room. This man has to wake me up at 5:30 in the morning, which I don't know. If you know me in person, I'm not a morning person. And then I have to get on my other, and then we have to drive to the other airport again, and then I have to get on a plane at 8 in the morning to get to back to my school, get back to Lubbock at 9 in the morning for my class at 11 a.m. So um it'll it'll definitely be fun, but I'm kind of excited because that means I have like three and a half days of school when I get back, and then I am gone again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean it'd be like an extra, like a spring break plus extended spring break. Um if you ever if you like wanted to jump on a plane and go somewhere for like a day, two days, where would you go?
SPEAKER_02Um would it be for something like if I was being like if I was being for realsies, it would probably be to go to Sacramento to go see my sister and go see Baby Boy, if I'm being completely honest. Like if I could just hop on a plane for a couple days, I would go see her because I haven't seen her in like six months.
SPEAKER_00Um that's fair.
SPEAKER_02So I would probably go do that if we're going for less sentimental reasons, and I could is it like US or anywhere in the world?
SPEAKER_00Well, you can't really get anywhere in the world in a in like uh like you only got like two days to hang out there, so okay. You can't basically you'd have to fly there, then you'd have to get back on a plane to fly back, so it's not worth that.
SPEAKER_02Uh I mean I feel like I feel like I could do it in Canada. I feel like I could fly to Canada.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Or where would you go for two days in Canada? Canada's lame.
SPEAKER_02Bro, no, I'd go back to Nova Scotia. I loved it. It was so pretty.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah?
SPEAKER_02Um, or I would go to um Gettysburg.
SPEAKER_00Do some history stuff?
SPEAKER_02Do some history and some ghost hunting.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I forgot ghost hunting.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. There's a bunch of crazy places in Gettysburg that I would love to go to, if I'm being honest.
SPEAKER_00What are they haunted about? Are they like civil war people?
SPEAKER_02One of them is. So one of them is the one of the only like uh civilian casualties was shot by a sniper through two doors. Um, and she's like literally the only civilian casualty, I think it was said in Gettysburg. Um, anyway, her story is super sad, but she said to her sisters had to still be there looking for her, and her dad's like in the basement because she he could never accept that she was gone, and her mom is still there, and there's a little boy who came from the like terrible orphanage down the street who hung out there in the basement of the orphanage had to have a demon in it, and who like made the headmistress like do some crazy stuff. Um Yeah, no, it's supposed to be there's supposed to be a bunch of places, and then there's uh there's a bunch of other places like uh the what's it called? Like bridges. There's supposed to be two different civil war bridges where like on one side was the Confederates, on the other side was um the Union, and it was said that like that bridge is there's two of them that said that they're supposed to be pretty haunted. But everything that I've seen is like nobody's like none of them is like dangerous, except for maybe the demon in the basement of the orphanage. Um, but none of them are said to be super dangerous, so I feel like that would be a good like starting point, and it's super history, like it's and I as much as my mom stuffed history down my throat, I enjoy some of it.
SPEAKER_00Well, uh, I mean that's good. It's always you can't like I don't know. Like, I wish our politicians would pay attention to history because some of the crap they do, you would learn from what doesn't work. Like, right? And adjust some things. Um but yeah, history is history's good.
SPEAKER_02Like I like like I know the first 10 presidents of the United States, and like that's cool or whatever, but I like interesting history. Like I don't like boring history. Like if hist history is cool, then I'll like learn about it and I'll like hold it and I'll like hold. But like a lot of a lot of the history that I know very well is paranormal history.
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm saying like if you like uh if you go to DC and then you go to Washington's house, yeah, I think there's something about seeing it, and then you're and then they have the inside stories about like what uh like what Washington was really like. Yeah, then you're like, oh crap, that's not really anything that the books told me. Like because the books all the books are all slanted one way to either vanilla it or not give you the full Monty of what's actually happening.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's why one of the reasons I like Hamilton, the musical, is because they show like in my opinion, they kind of show like the reel of like, yeah, like this is what he was doing, this is how he did it, but also he wasn't a great person because he cheated on his wife.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02So it's like you kind of get to see that like he, you know, he did some things like that were good, um, he did some things that were not so good, but it kind of tells you like the history of whatever. And I also have a theory about Hamilton that it's not actually about Alexander Hamilton, I think it's about his wife, Eliza Hamilton.
SPEAKER_00Okay, why do you have a theory? Is something bugging you?
SPEAKER_02No, I just it's just a because it's called Hamilton.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02Part of me thinks that it's actually about her story and not his. Because she after he dies, like she has a whole moment where it's like this is all the things she did after his death in honor. Like after he died, this is all the things that she did. Um, but it could just be about both, just the Hamiltons, and it's just called Hamilton.
SPEAKER_00But all right. I mean that's anyway.
SPEAKER_02There's some things about history that I enjoy, and there's some things about history that I don't like. We went to uh the Titanic Museum in Nova Scotia. That was awesome. That was really cool.
SPEAKER_00And we also went through the do we go, did we get to go into the fort? Did we get to walk yeah?
SPEAKER_02We we walked around the fort and then we went to that lighthouse too. So there's some things about like there's some history things I'm like, this is pretty cool. Yeah, no, we went to the fort because remember we had to push gramps up that giant hill to get up there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true.
SPEAKER_02We were struggling.
SPEAKER_00Well, um, I mean, you know, he could have just got an electric chair and we would have been fine. Not that electric chair, but like one but you know, yeah. Um but he didn't, and then you know, when you're going downhill, he didn't have his gloves on you can't just let him. I mean, if he had his gloves on, he could probably break himself pretty fast, but those hills were steep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But that was still some of the best. What did I have all the time? Fish and chips.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you had fish and chips every single time.
SPEAKER_00Oh, and uh, that's when we tried uh Poontain.
SPEAKER_02Y'all did. I don't think I did.
SPEAKER_00It's just fries with cheese on top.
SPEAKER_02Um, I don't know. Anything with a weird anything with a weird name, I think I kind of stayed away from. But I remember we went to a restaurant that had like live lobsters and a little cage thing, and me and Bethany would just sat there and we're just like, Yeah, this is so sad.
SPEAKER_00Let's murder those right in front of me.
SPEAKER_02Where would you go if you could go anywhere in the world for two days?
SPEAKER_00Well, not in the world, like, because I don't want to say North America.
SPEAKER_02Let's say North America.
SPEAKER_00You have four days, like a half a day to travel, and then you know, two days to two and a half days to explore everything, and then a day to come back. Um, I still have not been to Mount Rushmore.
SPEAKER_02See, I can't say that because I'm going there with your mom. And I'm also making your mom go whitewater rafting.
SPEAKER_00Oh. Right next to Mount Rushmore. So I would like to I would like to see just to see how big it is, try to understand how people actually like chiseled that crap, like by hanging.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then I think I would like to go to Maine.
SPEAKER_02To Maine. What's in Maine?
SPEAKER_00Just the very tippity, toppity, top top of the United States. Whatever that's let's see what that is. Let's see what the very top like is there Airbnb to where I can go outside and pee and I'm a third.
SPEAKER_02You're touching Canada.
SPEAKER_00I'm peeing on Canada.
SPEAKER_02You're peeing in Canada.
SPEAKER_00Um, let's see what's up there. We could go to I would go to Edmonton. I'm going to Edmonton. Oh, wait, that's on the other side. Um Damn, there's no city. Anyway, the top of the Tippity top is uh Madawaska. Is a town called Madawaska. So I'd go to Jeff's Pizza and Subs in Matawasa, and then I would go to Bridge Street and try to pee in the river, the St. John River. Um because Canada is right there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's like on the on the border.
SPEAKER_00That's pretty tippity top.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's pretty.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I could go to what is this place called?
SPEAKER_02Looking at the border.
SPEAKER_00Pohagn Poh Pohignigm.
SPEAKER_02No, that's on the other side of the border. That's Canada.
SPEAKER_00I can't go Pahign Wok.
SPEAKER_02You could go, no, that's the other side of the border. There's not much up here.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_02That's what also there's a there's a lake that it's like split down the middle.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_02You could go to Saint Francis or Grand Falls. There's not much there's there's not much there though.
SPEAKER_00Grand Falls is in Canada too. Um anyway.
SPEAKER_02If you want to go to the tippy top of the US, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And just say like I did it, because I've already been to Key West, and that's at the tippity bottom.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And while I'm there, I mean Nova Scotia is like right. You know what I'm saying? So technically I could rent a car. Why do we have to go all the way to where we go? Toronto?
SPEAKER_02We went to Ontario.
SPEAKER_00What?
SPEAKER_02We flew to Ontario.
SPEAKER_00Ontario. Yeah, but that's I mean, that's the country, that's the state. We flew into Toronto, the city, and then had to fly over.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because we had to get on the a little baby we almost died, Air Canada.
SPEAKER_00I know, but like, why can't we just like go into Bangor, Maine? Like we should have to be.
SPEAKER_02Because we had we had to get on because we had to go through customs, and there was no customs in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure there is. But next time, let's just go to Maine and then let's drive over. I'm sure there's a road that we can just find.
SPEAKER_02There's one.
SPEAKER_00We'll do some illegal crossing.
SPEAKER_02I don't think we should illegally cross. I think we can just cross legally.
SPEAKER_00It looks like there's all water everywhere. It did a good job.
SPEAKER_02We just gotta take one.
SPEAKER_00One what?
SPEAKER_02Like interstate one.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_02And we can go through a bunch of small main cities and then get to Canada.
SPEAKER_00Kanada. Kadadana.
SPEAKER_02Kanada.
SPEAKER_00It looks like nine.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'll take that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then we just drive over there. It looks like it could be I don't know.
SPEAKER_02What country? What country would you want to go to if you could go anywhere? All expenses paid for.
SPEAKER_00Like right now?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right now.
SPEAKER_00Um you could hop on a plane.
SPEAKER_02I would go to any country in the world.
SPEAKER_00I'd probably go to Ireland. Um my second pick would be maybe Argentina.
SPEAKER_02Argentina.
SPEAKER_00And then my third pick. I might change that up. Actually, my first pick is Japan.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00I want to go to Japan and just kind of walk around. I wanna see what like I'm gonna go to Tokyo and hang out for a couple days, and I want to go to Osaka for a couple days.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know who will go with you?
SPEAKER_00Who?
SPEAKER_02Valerie.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Val?
SPEAKER_02You know her and her Asian family.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I'm not there to like get her hooked up, get her Japanese citizenship.
SPEAKER_02Because she's hooking up with some guy that she loves she loves Asian culture, but she wants like a South Korean singer. Oh no, she she wants a South Korean for sure, but she just likes she likes uh Asian culture in general.
SPEAKER_00Correct. So maybe maybe we can get her into North Korea and she can and just leave her there. Just l find a North Korean.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we'll just leave her there.
SPEAKER_00And then she can't leave. Yeah, you're right. She can't leave.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. We'll drop her off at the border.
SPEAKER_00And she would be totally immersed in it. Um let's go on a trip.
SPEAKER_02Taking me back to Korea.
SPEAKER_00Going back to Korea. We're going to a Korea.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. We just tell her we're going to Korea. We don't tell her we're going to go to Korea.
SPEAKER_00We're going to Korea. Where um where would you go?
SPEAKER_02Um, so I've already been to Asia, so I probably wouldn't go anywhere there. Um, I at one time in my life want to go back to Vietnam. Because I truly loved it. It was really fun. Um, it's definitely a very big culture shock. It's very different. Um, but I was there for four days and it was awesome. So I would definitely go back eventually. For somewhere I've never been.
SPEAKER_00This time you need to go to Hanoi.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I I want to I don't want to go to um Saigon or Ho Chi Minh. I want to go to I want to go to somewhere else. But go to Hanoi. Being able to see like down like the biggest part of Japan and being in the middle of the city and like going to the market and everything. And if you want to go hear more about it, go watch the first episode or the second episode of What What Stays in Asia or What Happens in Asia. Um I I want to go back, but for somewhere I'd never been, I think I also would want to go to Argentina. Yeah, I love Argentina culture. Um, it's beautiful. Like there's like you have the bigger cities, um, but there's also a bunch of like small towns that like you can go horseback riding on mountains, and like um it's gorgeous. So I would definitely want to go to Argentina. Um, and that's somewhere that like I would take my girls and go. Like we do like I would 100% take a group and go to Argentina.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, and especially since you know Spanish so well and they're pretty much they speak Spanish, yeah. Speak you well, and they speak your kind of like Spanish, not necessarily the they're closer to Spain Spanish.
SPEAKER_02Well, there's like theirs is like a mix between like what we know is like Mexican Spanish and Spain Spanish, like right. There's just kind of a mix of both, but I would definitely want to go to Argentina.
SPEAKER_00Um I think that would be fun, but like the very bottom bottom, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And you like can be on like the edge of the world.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. There's the Falkland Islands, that's close to Argentina.
SPEAKER_02That could be fun. Um, as I also one year I eventually want to go to Europe. Um, but I don't know where I want to go, honestly. Like I kind of want to go to like Switzerland or Sweden. Yeah, because they look really pretty, and like go see the Swiss mountains or whatever. Um, but also my friend group is trying to convince me to go to South Africa. Yeah, no, not right now, but definitely not right now, but eventually they want to go to somewhere in Africa and go to like a safari.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, Oh my gosh, no.
SPEAKER_02Have you and you've met my friend group, so you can just think in your brain about how that would go.
SPEAKER_00Can't see that happening at all. I'd go to Norway in Sweden. Norway would be fun. I heard the people are awesome in Norway.
SPEAKER_02We knew uh there was a girl in my high school who was Swedish, um, and so she went to Sweden every year every uh summer and every or no, every winter break, she would go to Sweden and she spoke Swedish.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she was awesome, but I think she now I think she either lives there now or is planning to move there in the coming years. Um she has a bunch of family up there, and she's she's she was super cool. Um, like she was born in the US, but went there so much that she literally learned the language.
SPEAKER_00And it's hard.
SPEAKER_02That language and we heard her speak it, and we were all like, what is she?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's hard.
SPEAKER_02But th that's probably where I would go. Like, I want to go to France, but I feel like France is a little bit like overhyped in some ways, like the Eiffel Tower and whatever.
SPEAKER_00That's lame. There's so many pickpockets, there's so many criminals.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for sure. So Paris.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, but Frenchies.
SPEAKER_02I think my I think I told um I told my friend group this my goal is by the time that I die that I want to visit all 50 states at least once, and I want to go to over 15 countries. That's my goal. I'm at four countries and like fifteen states, I think. Which is a pretty good start. Yeah, it's not bad for almost nine at 18 and a half, yeah. And by go through every state, I don't mean like drive-through. Like I want to stop and stay in every state at least once. Well, so because I love traveling and I love seeing new cultures and things like that.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh, don't don't get married and have babies real early.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00Because then you'll you'll have to accomplish that later in life, then.
SPEAKER_02Well, I see a bunch, there's a bunch of uh TikTok moms that are like, you know, take your kids with you. And there's like there's a there's a baby who is like, this is my baby at three months old in Mexico, this is my baby at five months old in like Europe, and this is my baby at six months old in Bolivia.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, if you can do that, because you don't have a have to have a career, do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I think she's like a TikTok star, so it's like that's how she makes her money. So she doesn't have like a real big girl job.
SPEAKER_03So but um I want to be a TikTok star.
SPEAKER_02I don't think you would make it. I don't think you fit the demographic Mr. Guy Fury. But you know what we could be? We could be the most world famous podcast, Daddy Daughter Duo. We could, we could get us iHeartRadio. Um let's be part of your awards.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, go up to the iHeartRadio Ward.
SPEAKER_02The podcast awards, yeah. We should just go one year. We should find out when they're doing them, just go and just see what happens. And just be like And just be like, yeah, we have a podcast.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you mean did did did we not? I thought we won this.
SPEAKER_02The whole reason we're here is like I thought we were nominated.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Umbe one day we'll get on iHeartRadio. I think I've submitted a thousand times, but um, yeah. Well, what else are we gonna do? You got like dancing and crap.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm about to go get my hair cut.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_02I'm about to leave. Um your one of your daughters is waiting outside in the driveway for me.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna go get my hair cut, and then we gotta go play some games so I don't get because apparently one of my surrogate mothers said that I'm grounded until I play this game with her, so I have to go finish that game so I'm not grounded anymore.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_02Sadly.
SPEAKER_00In this life of ours.
SPEAKER_02I do. All right. So I have to go do that, and then yeah, go and dancing tonight with a group of people.
SPEAKER_00Um uh let's close it up so you can go get my hair cut. This uh podcast is recorded.
SPEAKER_02And thank you so much for being with us for the Daddy Shoever Sale podcast. We will catch you guys next week for episode 25 with our special guest that Micah has no idea who it is. This was 24.5. No real meaning. Um just uh scrambling. You don't get to know, you'll know next week when when that person joins this is crap zoom call.
SPEAKER_00Um hey, what time are we anyway? We'll figure that out later. All right. Yep. Um
