Episode 40 — Why Me? | Letting Go of Blame After a Heart Attack

After my heart attack, when the question hit — why me — I already knew part of the answer.

Years of running hotels. Two kitchens. Lots of staff. Six in the morning until one or two the next day, seven days a week. I'd looked in the mirror and known something had to change. I gave up the hotels, went back to forestry, and thought I'd dodged the bullet.

Then double pneumonia. Then six months later — a heart attack.

But not everyone knows why it happened to them. And this week that landed closer to home than usual.

Because some men never get a clear answer. And sitting with that unanswered question can keep you stuck looking backwards when the only healthy place to go is forward.

This episode is about letting go of blame — with or without the answers.

This is Stronger After the Storm. I'm Dougie — a Scottish Borders forestry contractor who had a heart attack at 50, and I'm here to be the man a few steps further down the road that I wish I'd met when I first got home.
