Episode 41 —  A Different Kind of Strong | Redefining Strength After a Heart Attack

Before my heart attack, strength meant one thing. Throwing full kegs of beer around with ease. Lifting heavy timber. Wrestling hung trees to the ground. Strength was physical, and it was everything.

After the heart attack, that felt gone. I thought all my effort would need to go into protecting a weak, fragile heart. I didn't think it could ever stand physical exertion again. That was terrifying.

Then cardiac physio changed everything — the lesson that the heart is a muscle, one that needs work to get stronger, just like any other. Two and a half years later I crossed the finish line of my first marathon and felt like Goliath.

But the real strength I found wasn't in the running. It was in learning my limitations. Setting boundaries. Being honest about my weaknesses. Having the courage to say no.

This episode is about the strength nobody tells you about after a heart attack — the kind that looks completely different, and is worth so much more.
