SmackDown was kind of all over the place this week, not gonna lie. Some of it hit, some of it was just… there. But when it hit, it HIT.

The big story for me was Drew McIntyre absolutely goading Cody Rhodes into a Three Stages of Hell match. Not only that, but Cody can’t even touch Drew until the match actually happens, which is wild by itself. And then Drew went there… making fun of Dusty Rhodes. That was one of those “damn, they really did that” moments. Felt uncomfortable in the best wrestling way. You could feel Cody trying not to explode.

Most of the middle of SmackDown was honestly kinda so-so. Nothing terrible, nothing amazing, just… fine. But then we got to the moment.

Carmelo Hayes beating Ilja Dragunov was a HUGE deal. Like, huge huge. Melo finally winning the big one felt earned, emotional, and long overdue. That wasn’t just a title win, that was a career moment. You could feel the shift.

I really didn’t love seeing Lash Legend take a loss here, that one caught me off guard and not in a good way. But outside of that, the clear highlights of this show were Drew McIntyre being an absolute menace and Carmelo Hayes finally getting his moment.

Those two carried this episode. Everything else? Meh. But those highs were high enough to make this SmackDown worth talking about.
