SmackDown showed why Drew McIntyre is still the champion.

Drew came out and did exactly what he needed to do — he addressed what was said about him on Raw and didn’t back down from the shots taken by Roman Reigns and CM Punk. On the microphone, McIntyre sounded confident, composed, and fully in control. This wasn’t a rattled champion trying to explain himself. This was a champion reminding everyone why he’s still standing at the top heading into WrestleMania season.

That said… SmackDown didn’t make it easy on him.

Cody Rhodes kept inserting himself into Drew’s night, turning the focus from words to physicality. The attacks weren’t about embarrassing Drew — they were about testing him. And every time Cody tried to shift the momentum, Drew fought back and refused to look shaken.

Then came Jacob Fatu, and that’s where the night truly spiraled. Fatu didn’t care about promos or positioning. His involvement was pure chaos, adding another layer of danger to an already crowded main-event picture. Drew may have been attacked a lot — but he never looked weak, never looked afraid, and never lost control.

Meanwhile, SmackDown continued building toward Elimination Chamber with qualifying matches throughout the show, reinforcing the urgency of this time of year. WrestleMania season doesn’t wait for anyone, and SmackDown made that clear.

By the end of the night, the takeaway was simple:
Drew McIntyre handled the pressure.
He won the verbal battle.
He survived the chaos.
And if this is the level of heat coming his way now, Elimination Chamber is going to be brutal.
