Have you heard me mention the book I'm writing, Why Not Me? And again, I think that's the title that we're we're sticking to. I'm working on the edits right now with a great friend of mine, Emily Ward. She uh has a master's in this kind of writing, which is we're kind of going for a biography slash self-help book in a sense. What I'm hoping to share with you guys is here's some hard times I went through. Here's some things that I did to get myself out of it, and here's where I am now, and what wisdom I have to share with you. The reason why that's important to me is that I feel like all of my years, all of the struggles I've gone through, all the blessings that I've had have been given to me for a reason. Things have all happened for a reason, and I think that it's to be able to share. You might not hear exactly what I'm saying, but you'll hear, hopefully, something that fits in your life. Something that gives you an aha moment. Something that makes you feel like I'm not alone. I'm not in this life by myself, all alone. I'm not the only person to feel or think this way. Because you're not.
SPEAKER_00This beautiful chaos.
SPEAKER_01So welcome to Beautiful Chaos. It's just me, Tammy Ramsey, and today I thought I would kind of read the introduction to the book, Why Not Me? And you can let me know what you think. If it's something that you'd be interested in reading, if you'd like to place a pre-order and get on the pre-order list, then please state so in a comment or reach out to me and let me know. I really do appreciate that. I had one of our biggest fans, uh Kelsey, come up to me during a Music in the Park event and say that the last episode that was about stop searching for your purpose, it's already within you, really touched her, and she was crying as she was listening to that and crying for that realization, possibly that you know, she was in a spot where maybe she was feeling feeling that because when we have kids underfoot and we have life going on around us, it's hard to slow down and go, wait, is this what I'm supposed to be doing? Like, seriously, like what am I doing in life? Is you know, we all have moments of those questions. I've had those throughout my my entire life. So I'm just gonna read this to you and then you know, share what's on my heart if anything pops up. So the introduction to why not me. If this book caught your eye, chances are you've asked yourself some of the same questions I've asked myself throughout my life. Am I too old? Am I too late? Am I capable? Who am I to think I could do something different? For years I listened to those questions and the fear behind them. Every health challenge, every setback, every disappointment seemed to whisper that life was slowly getting smaller, that aging meant less, less energy, less opportunity, less purpose, less dreaming. Then something unexpected happened to me. In January of 2025, I began taking my health more seriously than ever before. And just let me put this in there, guys, that you know I was a health coach for eight years, and I did fabulous till the last two years of that journey. And then I suffered through a very stressful, stressful time with my taking care of my parents and running back and forth. So life is never perfect. And uh, anyways, hopefully you can sh look at this and go, oh, okay, there's tough roads. We're not all perfect. Just because we're a health coach, we're not perfect. Just because we're a therapist, we're not perfect. Week two can suffer with emotions and and all the human traits. So, anyways, back to the reading. For a couple of years, I have been suffering with inflammation all over my body. It felt like my body was inflamed because I hurt everywhere, like my blood was inflamed because it hurt everywhere, and I felt like my whole body was swollen. So I decided it was time to see a functional doctor. I tried all the other doctors, I tried all the other things, and I don't like to be on medicines and pharmaceuticals. I I lean more towards what's natural, right? Okay. I was referred by the daughter of my heart to see Dr. Andrew Rosenberg at the Red Mountain Clinic in Boise, Idaho. What started as a desire to feel better became something much bigger. He started me by putting me on a detox program, which within three days my inflammation was gone.
unknownGone.
SPEAKER_01Then we tried adding foods back in as my body tolerated them. However, there was little my body could tolerate, and I ended up becoming a carnivore. As my body began to heal, my mind began to heal too. The inflammation decreased, energy returned, and the mental fog lifted. And for the first time in a long time, I could see beyond the next day. I could dream again. At 59 years old, I realized something important. I wasn't approaching the end of my story. I was standing at the beginning of a new, brand new chapter. A chapter I could finally choose to write. For years I had unknowingly accepted the idea that aging meant slowing down, becoming weaker, and gradually stepping aside from life. Yet all around me I saw examples that challenged my belief. My father, well in into his later years, still rides his bike for miles, works out regularly, swims and stay stays active. My husband looked at me one day and said, I want to live to be a hundred, so you need to get healthier so you can be there with me. Those words stayed with me, and if I was going to live another forty years, I had to ask myself, how did I want to spend them? Watching life happen as I slowly fell apart? Or did I want to be more like my dad and actively participate in it? The question that question led me to begin strength training, walking, fueling my body appropriately, and gave me the will to start a podcast. I had never done anything like it before, but I finally asked myself a question that would become the title of this book. Why not me? Instead of feeling like my life was coming to a close and ending to my story, why not learn something new at fifty-nine? A friend of mine for years had been telling me I should start a podcast. And so I did. We release new podcasts every week and we'll be entering our third season. So then all that learning, writing, and creating episodes made me yearn to write a book. I'm an ordinary woman who has spent most of her life doing what many of us do, loving our family, making mistakes, overcoming challenges, serving her community, and trying to become a little better each day. I'm not famous, nor do I truly have ambition to be so, however, whatever happens will happen. My wisdom comes from experience, experience of heartbreak and joy, of coming from a place of fear while climbing out with faith. My life like yours, I imagine, has been a journey similar to mine with hurt, pain, joy, love, and being loved. It is this shared reality that makes us all human, similar and connected. We all dream of the way we think life should be, and if we are wise in years, we learn to appreciate all that life provided for us. We can all lose sight of our dreams, like I did for many years. Sometimes life knocks us down so hard that we forget who we are. Sometimes the toolbox we've spent years filling with wisdom, faith, resilience, and courage gets buried under stress, grief, or exhaustion. The tools are there waiting for us to remember to utilize them. Sometimes we just forget where we even put the toolbox. This book is not a roadmap from a perfect person who has all the answers. It's simply a collection of stories from a woman who kept getting back up. A woman who learned that mountains are meant to be climbed and valleys are meant to be appreciated. A woman who discovered that life isn't about avoiding challenges, it's about becoming stronger because of them. My hope is that somewhere in these pages you'll see a piece of yourself. Maybe you'll remember a dream you've forgotten, or you'll find the courage to try something new. Maybe you'll finally stop listening to the voice that tells you why you can't and start listening to the voice that tells you why you can. Because the truth is the different difference between the life we imagine and the life we live is often one simple question. Why not me? And if no one has told you today, I want you to know you are loved. Not because things you do or achieve, but just because you exist. Your story doesn't your story matters, and no matter what is going on in your life, know that God loves you. And no matter your age, your circumstances, or your past, there is still time to become the person you were created to be. So come walk with me for a while and feel the love for life I will share with you through all the ups and downs. Let's see where this journey leads. So that's just the intro. And I kind of share in stories of my life and how it occurred. Some things that were hard, some things that were blessings, um, some things that I thought were hard that really were blessings. Like this is what I share. It's like a way of teaching, teaching so that you can hear the underlying moral of the story, right? And I think that my ultimate thing with this book has been that we all have seasons of our lives, just like I believe in our podcast, right? We all are on this roller coaster ride. We're all going up and going down, and we're screaming and having a good time, and then we're down, and we're like, oh, this is boring, or I'm suffering, or whatever it is. Like those the valleys, the mountains and valleys, same kind of thing. You're up and down. Your life doesn't look like a straight line, right? Your life is like this, it's a continual kind of, and sometimes there's little bumps, sometimes there's big bumps. And ultimately, one of the things that I I love to say, one of the quotes is one of my favorite quotes, and I learned it through up to via, was the obstacle is the way, which basically means if something is hard to do, it feels uncomfortable, it's time to push through and overcome your fear of that thing and push on. Because anytime we struggle, that is where we grow the most. And I think that's what this hopefully this book will share with you, and hopefully you'll be able to receive and take something away from it that gives you the realization of unity with the world, with unity that no matter what anyone's beliefs are, our basic core of beliefs are the same. We all want family connection, we all want connection, human connection, we all want to be loved and we want to love. Those are the most important things, those are our core foundation that I guarantee you, no matter who you're talking with, if you were to ask him, do you want family? Do you want family connection? Do you want maybe you don't have family connection? Do you want to create family connection? Do you want to work towards getting your family connection back if you've lost it? Like, where are you on your journey? But I guarantee you, you you want love, you want to be loved, you want to love, you you want those things. So always remember that if you're talking with somebody that has a different opinion of politics or a different religion, or gosh, I mean, I know a couple of atheists. Hey, you know, whatever. I'm not gonna force what I believe on you. I'm gonna love you just for you being you. And I'm here to do the best that I can do to be the best person I can be. I'm not grading myself based on someone else. Well, a little bit like Jesus, but you know, we're all like a C when it comes to if you compare yourself to Jesus. But what I'm saying is I'm trying to be a better person than I was yesterday. I try to be a better grandparent than I was a mother, right? Because when you're in the mother time zone, you're always questioning yourself on whether you did the right thing or whether you said the right thing, or man, I didn't mean to blow up and lose my cool, or um I don't understand my child right now. You know, like there's there's so many things that go through, and and if we would stop, there's a been a quote that's been going around that says, I think it's a daughter. Well, it's a mother-daughter thing, and I can't remember who's saying what, but it's I'll use mother. Like if you have a trouble with your your child and they're not understanding or think their childhood was awful or whatever, and you feel like you did the best job that you could do, then you just need to say, Hey, this is my first time as a mom in this lifetime was at that moment with you. Or maybe it was it was my first time having two of you. Well, that was my first time of having a his, hers, and an hours. Those are first experiences, and all of our first experiences are like that teenage moment when your emotions are high and you are experiencing something for the first time, and you're so emotionally tied to it and tied to the outcome that you can't see straight sometimes. And what you think is being a good, good parent, you know, you're you're constantly questioning yourself whether you really are. And if you're questioning yourself, you're probably being a great parent. And sometimes some reality of, you know what, I was doing the best that I could as your parent. And then your daughter can say to you, I was doing the best that I could with all my teenage hormones and all my uh things that were that I was going through, because that's my first time being a daughter. That's my first time being daughter and having a stepmom, or that's my first time as a daughter having to share my mother with another. Like whatever it is, I think that as long as you're trying to do the best that you can do and be better than you were yesterday, you're on the right goal, right? You're on the right road, and every season's different. And this book is gonna walk you through each season of my life and gonna share some things that I've gone through and going to give you a little bit of ideas on how to help you to not take things as a suffering, but to look at things as a blessing and to ask yourself important questions if you're not uh able to live your best life because of a situation you're in. Like, whatever. There's I can't give I can't say more because I don't want to give any more away. And I might come in if I have time, because planning episodes takes a lot of energy, getting guests takes a lot of energy. And if you guys are okay with me just reading a chapter of the book as we go, but I'm only gonna give you like maybe three chapters altogether because I don't want to give the whole book away, but I can give you a little taste of what the book is going to be. So if you decide that you want to, you know, listen in on that, keep keep listening to the podcast podcast. I'm I can probably do this once a week and handle that, but I'm really needing to refill my cup. My cup is completely has been emptied, it's been emptied into the community, my mom, my my grandkids, like my I mean, everything I have felt like I have fully just given all my energy away, and I'm trying to reboot and rebuild and take care of myself. And part of that self-care needs to spend some time camping with my husband, spend some some more quality time with my grandkids enjoying and having fun, and uh that's what I'm gonna do for the month of August. So uh go ahead and keep listening if you want to hear the book, because that's probably what I'm gonna do. And then our first episode that I'm gonna release in September is going to be the one that I did with Melissa Lott, where I did a micro needling, and I'm going to share with you before pictures, clips of the during, and then after pictures every day after. And this is me with makeup up on after I've done the treatment. And um, I really notice a huge difference in here. These have lightened. I mean, there's a lot of a lot of differences, so uh it all is good things, but it was pretty interesting and pretty scary, and the the first picture is like, ah! So I'm probably gonna list the last picture and then work my way backwards so you guys don't freak out when I show you the first picture. Anyways, thank you all for listening. Please share with a friend. We're trying to grow our channel so that we can get some financial support for our channel so that we can continue to get you the best guests and continue to create this wonderful show for you.
