The Naming of the Snake
A retelling of the Story of Eve and the Snake in the Garden. Without the shame.
The Naming of the Snake
Episode 1: The Naming Begins
An introduction to story and how literalizing an essential metaphor took our most essential origin story prisoner and used it to punish and shame us rather than allow it to be the guide it was meant to be. The Naming of the Snake offers a pathway to return to the garden and reclaim our myths and legends by restoring metaphor to its rightful place.
In this premiere episode, we enter the layered silence surrounding a forgotten poem, fractured relationships, and a mystery that resists resolution. Through alternating voices—Narrator, Steven, and Jenn—we begin to unravel the threads of memory, myth, and meaning. The episode closes with a haunting promise: in Episode Two, we confront the silence, name the snake, and tell the story of the poem that couldn’t be spoken.
