Welcome to the first ever episode of the Men's Morning Devotional!
This podcast is here to help you man up in every way - your faith, your family, and your work - by helping you get into the Word before you face the world.
These daily devotions will be hosted by leaders of the Goodfellas men's ministry of Metro Life Church in Miami, FL, pastored by Steve Alessi. In our church, we believe in raising up strong men who lead their families well and follow Godly principles in their homes, churches and workplaces.
The Men's Morning Devotional will be a partner podcast to My Morning Devotional, a daily devotional podcast led by the ladies of the Alessi family which has reached millions of listeners worldwide.
Every weekday, you’ll hear one of the men in our ministry family share a daily dose of wisdom, which includes a signature verse, devotional, prayer, and “Man-Up” challenge to help you become the man God made you to be.
To start, we’re asking the question - Do you know who you are? The world has a lot to say about what it means to be a man these days. Friends, family, coworkers, even strangers all try to define you. But what does Scripture say about who you really are?
In today's devotional, we dive into God's word to see just what He has to say about who you are, and challenge you to become who you were always meant to be.
Verse of the day: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the Men's Morning Devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up. Hello and welcome to the Men's Morning Devotional. Steve. I'm Steve Alessi and this is our very first episode. And I'm pretty fired up about you being here with me. Our podcast here will act as an intentional male counterpart to our My Morning Devotional podcast, which my daughters and daughter in love host weekly. So now me and my sons will be bringing you a daily man up challenge. Not because men aren't enough, but because God has called every one of us to something more. More presence, more courage, more purpose, more manning up. This week we're going to dig into what it actually means to step into the man God has designed you to be. So let's start right at the beginning with today's man up moment. You ready? Here it is. Before you can lead anyone else, you have to know who you are. Scripture verse says in 2 Corinthians 5, 17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come, the old has gone, the new is here. One of the biggest battles men face today isn't a work battle or a marriage battle. And it's not even a bank account battle. There are plenty of battles in each of those, but what we have is a more deep rooted battle to address. It's the battle for identity. Now, the world is constantly telling you who you are based on what you produce, how much you earn, what you look like, how tough you are. And when you fall short of those standards, which much every man does, you're left wondering if you even measure up. But here's what scripture says. Your identity isn't built on your performance. It's built on your position, which is in Christ. That's good news. You see, in Christ, you are a new creation. Let me say it again. You are a new creation. You're not a patched up version of your old self. You are fundamentally different. Manhood that's rooted in Christ doesn't have to prove itself because it's already been declared. So you don't earn your place. You receive it. You step into it. You fully engage it. And from that place of security, you have the foundation to be the man your family needs, your community needs. And God has called you to be. Manning up starts with knowing who you are, not who your father said you were not who you're in a critic or your failures have told you are. You are who God says you are. And when you're secure in that truth, then you can step into everything else with a godly confidence. So here's a quick man up challenge for you today. Write down one identity statement rooted in scripture. Not what you do, but who you are. Put it somewhere then that you'll see it first thing tomorrow morning. And allow that to be what inspires you to man up. So let me close in prayer. Heavenly Father, thank you that as men we are not defined by our past or our performance. Today is a day that we receive the identity as to who you've called us to be and who you've made us to be. Today we are new, loved and called. And may we all walk in that truth today. In Jesus name, Amen. All right, gentlemen, you've heard God's word, now go live it. Lead well. Stand strong. Honor God in everything you do. Share this devotional with another brother and we'll see you tomorrow morning. Remember, every day is another opportunity to man up.
