Gentlemen, every day is a battle. A battle for your faith, your family, and your purpose. The men who stand strong don't prepare when the battle arrives. They prepare before it begins. Welcome to the men's morning devotional. Let's get into God's word. It's time to man up.

Good morning and welcome back to the Men's Morning Devotional. My name is Christian, and we have had a great week in the book of Proverbs, and today we're going to be wrapping it up with Proverbs 15. Before honor is humility. Proverbs 15.1 says, A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. And Proverbs 1533 says, The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom before honor is humility. So we see that in 15 1 that opens the chapter, and in 1533 that closes it, they're the same idea twice. It doesn't show up in how loud we can get. It doesn't show up in how much we can puff out our chest. I love this quote. I want you to think about the anger that lies within. Because that in in verse 1 it says, But a harsh word stirs up anger. When we deal harshly with those around us, it doesn't exit our mouth and then is outside of us anymore. But instead, the Bible says that it is stirring up anger within us. And I want you to think about the anger that is inside of you is almost like a Roth IRA. It is compounding. It is not staying the same day after day, but instead it compounds day after day. Five becomes ten, ten becomes twenty. And soon the anger that is inside of you from one harsh word could have been completely avoided. The anger that is boiling inside of you, if you would have just given a gentle answer, it would have turned away all that wrath. You see, men, we're called to be honorable men of God. But what verse one and verse thirty-three have in common is that we are called to be humble before others and before the Lord. See, the Bible is saying, before honor comes humility, which means that if we are not humble men, we will never be honorable men. So the truth is today, as we look at our man up moment, this week, was there a grievous word that almost came out of our mouth? And what would a soft answer have cost us that pride told us was too much? You see, in day one we spoke about a scale and tipping the scales in a deal and a negotiation. Well, the tongue too is a scale, and what it weighs out in a tense moment reveals the same thing verse one was after. What is actually in us when it counts. Let's pray. Lord Jesus, we praise you and we thank you. Because Lord, you are good and you have given us a word that is perfect. Lord, we pray that as the word is sowed into our hearts today, that Lord, it would might bring forth a harvest of righteousness inside of us. Lord, we love you, we praise you, and we thank you for all that you are. In the name and by the blood of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen and amen.
