@WSMHtravels
Hello and welcome to the We Should Move Here travels podcast. My name is Brittany.
JoshI'm Josh,
Britand we are your host. Today we are going to do a brief check-in, and then we are also going to talk about the trip that we are about to go on and embark on a new journey.
JoshYeah. Another one. Mm-hmm. It's only been, uh, two weeks since we got back, just over two weeks since we got back from the last one. So
Brityeah, it has been a whirlwind. We have been trying to spend time with family, friends, and also be home
Joshtake care of the cat.
BritYeah. But also just so grateful that we get to do this as well. Mm-hmm. So a mix of emotions going on.
JoshYeah, for sure. For sure. Really excited about all of it though
Brityeah. Yeah. So why don't we start with a, a brief check-in. we wanna be intentional about being as open and honest as possible. Mm-hmm. Uh, so I think it's important that we do some brief check-ins.
JoshYeah.
BritSo how are you liking the pod so far?
JoshI'm liking a lot. It is definitely more work than I would've ever thought. Yeah, it could be. Which is good because I like to be busy. I like us to be busy with this.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshBut also, you know, it's just a lot. Sometimes, you know, like right now we're recording this at seven o'clock the day before we're leaving for our East Coast trip here, so
Brityeah. We're leaving in less than 12 hours.
JoshYeah. Yeah. So we, uh, wow, we're recording this and then eating something quick and then going to bed, waking up and starting our drive out east. So, yeah. yeah, it's, it's going good. it, like I said, just a lot of work, but it's good work. You know, we're starting to get a few people reaching out to us that wanna talk to us, talk about the pod, wanna talk on the pod.
BritMm-hmm.
Joshwe're still looking for viewers and listeners to reach out to us and tell us where to go.'cause that's, fun and exciting. And I, I, I wish people gave us suggestions, but, you know, that's,
Brityeah. I think it'll happen the more that we grow. But, um, it has been cool to kinda get some other travel creators, you know, reaching out to us mm-hmm. And Wanting to collaborate with us. I think that's been really cool to see.
JoshYeah.
BritSo it makes me feel like it's growing.
JoshOh yeah, for sure. Yeah. So we're still babies.
BritWe are, we're babies. Little babies. I'm just a baby.
JoshOr the podcast is, but, uh, no, it's great. I am really enjoying it. Really loving it. We are still getting our footing, we're trying different ways of recording. how to structure the pod, you know, what to talk about. how people like to listen to us, you know, still figuring that all out.
BritYeah. Um, it's been cool to get some feedback too, from mm-hmm. Family and friends. We definitely appreciate that. So if you have any, let us know.
JoshYeah.
BritI have really appreciated that feedback, whether, positive, negative, whatever, you know, I've, I've just really appreciated, hearing that people are invested and want us to do well.
JoshRight. Absolutely. And on top of that, just so Vicki knows, if you're watching, I covered up my can this time, so I don't think, oh, it still shows a tiny bit. It still shows. No.
BritYeah, she told us not to have any labels because in the future maybe we'll have sponsors.
JoshYeah.
BritSo that could be cool. That could be a thing.
JoshKinda like, uh, Kylie Kelsey, she does, what is it? What's the, is it death water or, oh,
BritI don't know. That sounds dangerous.
JoshNo, it's just the water brand. It's
BritOh, is it like caffeinated?
JoshNo, I think it's just water, but they just got like a cool name. liquid death.
BritInteresting name for water. Mm-hmm.
JoshI mean, they have some other stuff, like they have sparkling, they have like cola, stuff like that, but they start out just as. A water, canned water brand.
BritWow. Okay. Okay. Well if you wanna sponsor us,
Joshwhat about you? How are you liking the pod?
BritI am really loving it. I feel like I've said this more in the past, I don't know, two weeks since we've been back than I think I've ever said, but I feel more myself than I have ever felt in my life. I feel like being able to have the time to take care of myself has been a game changer. Mm-hmm. It has really stepped up, how I feel, how I talk to people how I see my relationships in life. It's just been, it's been really great. Yeah. I've gotten a lot of comments from people saying, how happy I look and how happy I seem to be and I am. Yeah. So thankful for this pod.
JoshYeah. I mean, we're both We've continually said, like so grateful and privileged to be able to, try to do this, however long we get to do this for. It's, it's awesome that we get to, like you said, relationship wise, you know, with other people, but with us it's definitely a different. Dynamic.
BritYeah.
JoshDoing this podcast.
BritNo, it is like, I never considered that working with you would ever be tough.
JoshMm.
BritBut sometimes it is. Oh
Joshmy gosh.
BritYeah. Sometimes it really is working with
Joshme.
BritYeah. Well, who would've thought, no, I love you and I love spending time with you. I love that we get to spend 24 7 together and we really, I don't think we really get sick of each other. No. I think if anything, if there's like a heated moment or if there's like a difficult conversation that we need to have, we're like, okay, we're gonna take a beat.
JoshMm-hmm.
BritAnd we'll come back to it, but we're still next to each other.
JoshRight. Yeah. It, it, it forces us to deal with those communication problems or communication issues, that all relationships and couples have, but we just have to face it head on.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshCause like you said, we're, we're around each other, not 24 7, but a good chunk of the time. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's so interesting to go from, what most people do, going to work for eight hours a day and then seeing your, your spouse in the afternoon, in the morning, two days on the weekend, you know, and then the vacation for every year to go from that to now where it's been August, September, October. So it's been three months basically of us together almost the entire time.
BritI feel like some couples can hear that and be like, oh my gosh, I would kill my partner. But I feel so in love. Like I, I feel like I grow more in love with you every single day. But I also, like, this is the most in love I've ever felt in my life. And like I was, I guess maybe a little nervous that we would get sick of each other, but we, we really haven't.
JoshNo We have the benefit of, we met and started dating during COVID. Yes. So we, we started out right away being around each other For extended long periods of time.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshJust because. We didn't go out and weren't in groups a bunch. So we had a couple of, you know, where it was weeks on end where we just together'cause you were in school and I was work or work from home or on break, stuff like that. So
Brityeah
Joshwe have the benefit of already having those time periods where not every, not every couple started during COVID.
BritThat was a wild time to start dating. Like we were inseparable in a month. Yeah.
Joshyeah. the people who got pets and got dogs during that time that Yeah. That got like super attached. like my brother and sister-in-law with their dog Nelson, that that dog's just on him. He's such a good boy. He is. Nelson's a great dog.
BritHe is. He's a good boy. Mm-hmm. Yeah. So with all of the good things happening with the pod mm-hmm. The growth, you know, us. Mm-hmm. I feel like we're making pretty good content. I'm curious if there's anything that you would change or that you want to change.
JoshYeah. Get us more views.
BritWell, I wish we could have that happen, but,
JoshAnything that I would change, I'm not sure. I, I wish I could just tell myself to stop thinking that we're doing something wrong. I have that thought a lot, that we are, we're doing something wrong, or something's not correct because, we're not getting the views or the likes, comments, subscribers, whatever, that the, top travel podcasts or brands, what have you are getting. And I always forget, like we just said, like we're just babies. Like it's been since September. It hasn't even when we're recording this right now, it hasn't even been two months yet.
BritNo,
Joshand I mean by what we were thinking beforehand, I set out realistic expectations for me to think about and we're doing better than my expectations were. Before we started posting, but still, now that we are in my head, I look and compare to others and I'm like, oh, we should be doing better.
BritNo, you can't help but compare yourself to others.'cause I feel like that's human nature, but also you are so correct. We are babies. We started two months ago, like there's no way we would be huge right now. Like we're mm-hmm. We're the rule, we're not the exception. Right. Right. it's going to take some time. Right. And. I also, fall victim to those thoughts.
JoshYeah.
BritAnd I'm like, ugh. I don't know if we're like posting too much, if we're not posting enough. But also it's not about like social media, it's more about the pod. Yeah. And since I do a lot of the posting on social media, I find myself wanting to get more of those, likes mm-hmm. Wanting to get more of those followers on social media, but that really doesn't matter. Yeah. Right. Mm-hmm. Like it's the YouTube channel. Mm-hmm. That's the most important.
JoshDon't get us wrong, e everyone that interacts with us across all the platforms are important.
BritA hundred percent. Yes. I'm just trying to be like, as honest as possible. I don't know, I feel like social media is a really strange thing where you're seeking these likes. Mm-hmm. it's almost like you need that validation mm-hmm. To know that you're doing this. Right.
Joshit's a weird. Business, if you wanna call, what we're trying to do, business to be in because by getting those likes, views, common subscribers, you are seeking that validation that you're doing something right? Yeah. It's, it's based off of that. So,
Britand I've never really been like that before on Facebook or Instagram or TikTok. I've, I've never really sought likes like I do now because I, I feel like now if we get a lot of likes, it means we have good content.
JoshMm-hmm.
BritBut that's not always the case. Right. Sometimes it just doesn't reach the target audience. Yeah. I dunno, man.
JoshI mean, you asked me what would I change is what you would change your thought process or you got something else?
BritI mean, I think my thought process is probably, I always kind of steer myself back to that we are babies. Mm-hmm. Even if we don't do, as well as we want to within this next year. That's okay. Yeah. Like, we're still gonna be traveling a bunch. And who gets to do that? You know, in their early thirties, like with their fiance who gets to do that for this long. Yeah. I just keep bringing myself back to that and yeah, I mean, I guess I wish I didn't have those initial thoughts about, you know, social media and likes and all of that, but I'm just, I'm really grateful. I do think that we could bring more honesty. Into the pod.
JoshYeah.
BritAnd I think we could do more of these check-ins. Mm-hmm. I don't know if people will like them. Mm-hmm. Let us know if you do. But I do appreciate that mm-hmm. On the podcast that I listen to. Yeah. You know, I appreciate the honesty, the realness, the, candidness of this conversation.
JoshYeah. I think one that we get that from, you've listened to it more, but on some road trips, I've listened to it.'cause you put it on the cars the giggly squad with, uh, Hannah and, and Paige,
Britwe love them.
JoshThey are just so funny, on, what was it, summer House? Is that the show that they run? Yeah. On, on Summer House. I was kind of like, oh, kind of like mixed bag. But he, they're such funny and such like a complimenting pair.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshAnd I, I really appreciate their banter. And basically what they do is just check-ins. Like that's the podcast for them is check-ins.
BritYeah. They just talk the whole time about, what's going on in their life, what they've watched, you know, what they've seen. So we could do some of that if people wanna hear it, but I, I still wanna keep it mainly travel based. Mm-hmm.'cause that's what I mean, I don't know.
JoshWe've thrown some in, in our episodes.
BritYeah. Yeah.
JoshI mean, I think if, if we do a little more, it might bring out some of our fun banter that we get into sometimes. And, and it has that's pulled through into some episodes, so, um, I think
Britso. Yeah.
JoshI mean, that, that could be, uh, that could be a fun part that kind of bleeds into the episodes that, uh, maybe we should think about doing it more. But I am, I'm having fun doing this, and we're gonna keep evolving. We're gonna keep growing. And you were talking about likes common stuff like that. Right before we started recording, I was talking to my mom and dad and, they follow and everything. So thanks guys. But I was talking to them, I'm like, I don't understand the algorithm or analytics. Like I, I look at those all the time and try to see how we're. Getting trends, where the views are, where the likes are, and see if we can follow those up. And even when we do a trend at the right time, it's posted at the right time. Sometimes that post just bottoms, like it's the worst views. And then when I post something, I'm like, ah, this isn't too great. And then that's the one that gets the most views and it's like, at a weird time of day that I post it, don't understand it. So,
Brityeah,
JoshI think we just gotta be ourselves because being ourselves and posting our content is, is what this is. You know, we're Yeah. Agreed. We're not gonna get the views or the likes or anything by being, a, a Hannah Page or a Rick Steves or mm-hmm. Um, any of the other big travel, people, we, we just gotta do our own thing.
BritNo, I agree. Yeah. And I think even, even if we do, tank, even if we get no more followers, would you still do this?
JoshOh, absolutely.
BritMe too.
JoshLike you said, we get to spend time with each other. Yeah. It's like that, that guy on TikTok you know what rips dude spending time with your hottest homie, like all the time, just absolutely rips. we just saw that the other day and I'm like, that's kind of what this is. You know, I get to spend time with you and go on these trips and see places. Try food, talk to people.
BritI'm your hottest homie.
JoshYou're my hottest homie. Aw. And it just rips man. I hope everyone gets to experience this with their hottest home.
BritMe too. I wish everybody could do this. I feel like we would live in a lot, in a much happier world.
JoshYeah. Yeah. Absolutely. If, if people got to, if spend more time with their partners with their family, with their kids, their friends, oh yeah. It'd be so much better.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshYeah. People would be a lot less sad.
BritI am. And I was sad, but that's a conversation for another day.
JoshI'm like, this check-in's gonna take a turn. It's going No, no. Gonna head right towards a therapy session.
BritNo, we're not going there.
JoshBut you know what will be therapeutic? This trip,
Britthe East coast in the fall,
Joshyou see that transition?
BritYeah, we're
Joshlearning how to do this. So like we said, we are waking up 5:00 AM tomorrow and we're starting our drive. Where are we going to first Britt?
BritSo we are gonna start in Ipswich, Massachusetts. and here we are going to take a train to Salem. Yeah. Uh, so we're gonna go to Salem twice, one of which is Halloween. So that's really exciting. It's gonna be super busy, so we're preparing ourselves for that. Yeah. But we get a lot of alone time in the car, so,
Joshright. Yep.
BritIt's a 22 hour drive.
JoshI mean, with stops it'll probably be about that, but I think if we were to do it straight, it'd be 20 hours, so.
BritOh, okay. I also found a yoga studio here called Elephant Tree.
JoshElephant Tree.
BritMm-hmm. And then when we are in Salem, we are going to do a food tour and a magic show. Yeah. So it's like a haunted magic show, I think with like spooky characters. Mm-hmm. If I am remembering correctly. Yeah, I
Joshbelieve so.
BritUm, and then also the fall colors in Massachusetts are supposed to be so beautiful. So I think this road trip in general is just gonna be stunning. I think it's gonna be so gorgeous. Mm-hmm. Ugh. I hope we get some good videos from, you know, just being in the car.
JoshYou gotta be on that. No sleeping during this long.
BritI gotta be on it. I don't sleep in the car. Are you kidding me? Yes. So those are the things that we have planned. Mm-hmm. Uh, but we have a lot of open, free time here as well.
JoshYeah. Yeah. I mean, we had initially done the trip, like we did our Europe trip where we had six full days at each location. We decided to dial that back for the second two locations, but keep six in Ipswich because we were dedicating the two days to going to Salem.
BritYeah.
JoshBecause those are, those are gonna be full days, like you said. Especially on Halloween. Fortunately, like you just pointed out, we got some bookings. So even if it's busy, we're set to, to have some fun and participate in, in a few things. But yeah, then we got, four other days to, I. Just go around Massachusetts, you know? Yeah. And see what it's about. And I mean, we picked these places again because they fit kind of our criteria of places we're looking for.
BritYeah. I was gonna ask you, why did we pick this place as a possibility to move?
JoshMassachusetts in general is, blue State, well-known for great schools and like high quality of life. Mm-hmm. I, I think they're one of the top rated states in the United States for like education, quality of life, income, that sort of thing. When we had planned the trip, we were looking at Salem right away.'cause we were coming during the Halloween. We're like, we gotta go to Salem.
BritWe have to. Yeah. This has been on my bucket list, so I am so excited.
JoshBut. When we looked at some of the Airbnbs and hotels, man, they book out. And then also expensive.
BritSo expensive.
Joshwhen we were looking at doing this trip and booking, it was at the beginning of August, end of July. And the only hotel rooms that were close by, which were still close, but were 400,$500 a night.
BritMm-hmm.
JoshAnd that's just not in the budget? No. For us to do as cool or as nice as those hotels probably are. That's just not what we were looking for. And then also we wanted to combine it with, the podcasts. Like a place that's, who knows, like maybe in this area or this surrounding area. There could be a potential to live there.
BritYeah. And I already don't think that we could have Salem as a place to live because it's such a tourist town. And we've talked about this before, like we are not wanting to move to a tourist city. I think that it would already not be, a place to live for us, but that's why, like you said, that's why we started, you know, searching for areas around Salem, right. So that we could possibly get a train which we are going to be doing. Yeah. Um, and that way you don't have to drive to,
Joshthank goodness. Yeah, so if we can take a train a couple times to and from Salem, take the pressure off driving just for those days, that'll be great. But Massachusetts has some beautiful scenery and beautiful towns, so I'm sure in those four free days that we have, uh, we'll do some driving and check out not only Ipswich, but some surrounding areas in the scenery around there.
BritYeah.
JoshMassachusetts is ranked top 10 for quality of life in the nation. So that's one of the, the biggest ones. They got great healthcare. Massachusetts, I already mentioned schooling. They got great schools. So just kind of well-rounded state.
BritYeah.
JoshYeah. But we're gonna go do our in-person research and check it out.
BritGotta do the in-person research.
JoshMm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
BritSo what are you most looking forward to in Massachusetts?
JoshI don't know. I've never been to Massachusetts, so just getting to explore it, see what it's about. Yeah. Salem. For Halloween is gonna be really fun. I mean, this time of year that we're going, tomorrow is the 27th, we're gonna be there 28th. So by some of the, the foliage trackers online, some of them are in peak colors. So we're gonna get some really beautiful fall colors going. I mean, there's so much I, that east coast culture that I always see on TV shows and, and movies and stuff. I've never really experienced that. I've never been to the true kind that East coast area. So seeing people talking to people, just experience it. I'm looking forward to that. What about you?
BritYeah, I, I think the same, Salem is really high on my list. Mm-hmm. So I'm really glad that we're getting to do that.
JoshYeah.
BritAnd the fact that it's Halloween is just gonna be so great. I hope we get to learn a lot about the witch trials and we get into some of the museums that I wanna get into. But I also think that the fall colors are gonna be stunning. And I just, there's something about the fall, there is something about the fall that just makes me feel so warm and comforted and I just, I love being in the fall. Yeah. I love the leaves, the colors, the hot. Cider or cocoa or hot coffee or whatever it is, warm beverage and mittens and strolling around a park with leaves all over. Just something about the fall. So I'm excited to experience that in the East coast. I think that's gonna be really beautiful.
JoshYeah. Yeah. It's gonna be gorgeous. Amazing. Can't wait.
BritYeah.
JoshWhere are we going to next?
BritSo next we will be going to Portland, Maine. Yes. And here we have some yoga options. Uh, so there's several different places that we could go to if we wanted, which I'm sure we will check out some yoga places here. We are here for three days.
JoshYep. Three days.
BritYeah. So maybe like if we're feeling like we need it, then we'll probably check out a place. Mm-hmm. We also have looked into a sunset cruise.
JoshYes.
BritWhich is really exciting. Mm-hmm. Because it is colder out. I thought that they would be closed, but there are some like private ones that we could do. Mm-hmm. There is also the ferry. Yeah. That does a sunset cruise. Mm-hmm. That's way cheaper and does like kind of the same route.
JoshYeah.
BritSo. I, we'll probably end up doing that one and I think it's gonna be stunning. Yeah. I'm really excited about that.
JoshMe too. Yeah. It's gonna be super fun again. Beautiful. We had some friends that were in Maine, but in the summer last year and we were just talking to them about this and they're like, oh yes. Mm-hmm. Sunset Cruise that you gotta try that. So yeah, we're gonna check it out. Probably do the ferry one and see if that's a good option.'cause when we looked, like you said, there's a lot of private options too, like Yeah. You can get on like a private sailboat. I think there was, or just mm-hmm. Some other sort of boats. So
BritI think you would be scared by that
Joshon a sailboat. Yeah, I might be. Yeah.
BritI would have the time of my life on a sailboat. I think it would be so much fun.
JoshOh gosh. I mean, I love ferries because they're like so stable. Yeah. So level. So
Britwe'll check out the ferry and then we'll see. Yeah. If we, if we like it.
JoshYeah. If it's really cool. And maybe we'll talk to someone on the ferry that says they've done a private one. if they recommend it or not. Yeah. Maybe we'll do another one. But, uh, that lobster rolls. Oh my gosh. Mm-hmm. The lobster rolls. Mm-hmm.
BritI cannot wait. I've never had a lobster roll ever in my life, and
Joshneither I, yeah.
BritMaine is the spot to try'em first.
JoshLike what a place to have it first,
Brithonestly,
Joshcould potentially ruin it for any other future lobster rolls.
BritI don't care. I'm so excited. I am so excited. I love lobster. I love bread. I love butter. Like what could go wrong here? Nothing. Nothing.
JoshI'm looking forward to, always looking to forward to all the food culture that we get to experience on a trip, but mm-hmm. I would have to say this is the one that's definitely sticking out in my mind. Mm-hmm. For this trip, so
Brityeah. Agreed. Agreed. Um, we also are going to be making our own, food and drink tour here. Hmm. Yeah. Using ai. Mm-hmm. Um, and all of the spots that we wanted to go to. Mm-hmm. I've done a lot of research on food spots and there are some that I'm really looking forward to. Mm-hmm. We will share them if they're really good. Fall colors again. Yeah. That's gonna be great. Mm-hmm.
JoshI'm looking forward to it for those as well as far as why we chose it for the pod. Very similar to Massachusetts. Ranks second nationally for quality of life. Only two our last stop that we're going to it's also. Got the lowest violent crime rates in the US. Mm-hmm. Great air quality, uh, another state with outstanding education. So yeah just a lot of good things going forward as well.
BritI love that for Maine, and I'm really excited to go there, check it out. I feel like Maine is going to be maybe my favorite spot on the trip.
JoshYou think so?
BritIt might be. I don't know. I mean, with all of the lobster, with, you know, the water right there with all of that, it, it seems like it could really have some potential.
JoshYeah. Yeah. I think so too. And it's going to be interesting because we're only doing three days in these last two spots. So if both of'em or one of'em were like, oh my gosh. This is great. Then we just gotta plan long road trips back to them again.
BritYeah. I mean, I'm still really glad that we shortened the road trip Oh, for, because we were just gone for 31 days. Yeah. And now we're leaving again.
JoshMm-hmm.
BritLike, we need to stick home for just a little bit.
JoshYeah. But who knows if, I mean, we were just talking about getting reached out to by other people, if we have to plan a trip to, to go and visit someone, they have a podcast, they want us to come on, or someone wants us to come see where they live, you know, we might have to make an exception and do a, do another week somewhere.
BritBut I, I would not say no.
JoshYeah, same. But I, I'm a hundred percent with you. We did need to shorten it. We had decided that it's, it's best for us to evaluate the. The countries, the states, cities, anyways, so,
Brityeah. Mm-hmm. No, it is like we've, we've said before and we'll say it again, we know within the first two days mm-hmm. Whether it's a spot that gives us that feeling. We need a word for that feeling. We'll think of it. Yeah. But yeah, it's that feeling that we've been talking about that draws you in that, mm-hmm. It's just, it's so indescribable. Like it's,
JoshI feel like it's something you're gonna come up with.'cause you had, we should move here, travels, or we should move here. So you got the name in person, research that was all you. So this one, I'm not putting the pressure on you, but I think you'll, it
Britfeels like pressure.
JoshI, I. We'll come up with something, the feeling,
Britthat's what we're calling it for now. The feeling. Yeah, the feeling. Yeah. So you mentioned some really great reasons as to why we could possibly move there. Mm-hmm. I'm curious what you're looking forward to the most here.
JoshI mean, we already, mentioned the lobster roll plenty. That's really exciting. I'm interested about Portland, though, where we're staying and where we're mainly gonna be, since it's only three days, we're probably gonna be in Portland, Maine. Probably the two out of the three days we're there. And it's such a popular spot, like big tourism there. However, while doing the research, it was also just one of the top spots for, a potential to live there. Mm-hmm. So I'm just interested what it's actually like. Again, like Massachusetts, I've never been to Maine, never. I've never been anywhere up there. So it's gonna be a whole new experience. What it looks like, what the weather's like, what the people are like. It's, yeah. It's just gonna all be new to me and I'm just really excited about that. I'm excited about that every time.
BritThat's awesome. Yeah.
JoshWhat about you? Anything that you're minus lobster roll.
BritDang, you took mine. Yeah. I am really excited for the sunset cruise. Oh yeah. I think that's gonna be beautiful. Yeah. And there's some lighthouses. Mm-hmm. And just, I have seen some pictures of stunning sunsets. Mm-hmm. So I think that's gonna be really nice. So next we will be going to Burlington, Vermont.
JoshYes.
BritUh, here, just like in Maine, there's plenty of yoga options where we could find a yoga class. We are also going to be making our own food and drink tour here as well. Uh, with all of the spots that I had done some research that I wanna check out. And there are some really great vineyards and breweries mm-hmm. That we have to check out.
JoshYes.
BritI am so excited for some of these spots.
JoshYeah.
BritIt's gonna be so cool.
JoshIt seems to be a big thing for Vermont, but specifically Burlington, that when we looked up, it's a good kind of like boozy area, couple breweries, like you said, couple.
BritYeah.
JoshVineyards, like you said. So it's gonna be a good place for that.
BritYeah. It might be a good, good place for that. We definitely won't go as hard as we did in Germany, but like one or two, like yeah. We'll be on our best behavior. Um, but the vineyards and breweries are going to be stunning. I think also with the fall colors. Mm-hmm. That's gonna be so cool. I can just envision us, like, when you think about a cozy place with a fireplace in the fall, in the Rolling Hills of Vermont, like that's, that's what I think of. Mm-hmm. And I really hope that it lives up to that in my mind,
Joshit's like that episode of New Girl when Jessica's. Dating the guy that's into model trains and they're trying to convince Jess to, to date him long term. And the parents are like, oh yeah, next weekend we can go up to our Vermont house. And she's like, Vermont house. Oh yeah, just a 18th century. The house that we fixed up a little bit. That's what I envision is like, oh, what is that 18th century house? Yes.
BritWell, we're actually staying in a hotel that looks like that. Mm-hmm. It looks like it is gonna be that. Exactly. So I am really excited about that. I think that's gonna be so beautiful. It's gonna be so cozy. It's gonna be perfect. Fall vibes, like exactly what I want.
JoshWhat does it have?
BritA pool.
JoshIt
Brithas a pool. It has a pool. We get to go swimming.
JoshHad to, Had to get you your pool time. So
BritThe whole Europe trip. We did not have one single pool. I think I've said that before, but it really irked me because I love swimming.
JoshNo, no mermaid time.
BritI love being a mermaid.
JoshNo, no. Back flips or handstands.
BritOkay.
JoshBut you'll get to on this trip.
BritI'll, I'm so excited. Okay. So it does have a pool. Like I said, the fall colors are gonna be stunning.
JoshYeah. The drive from Portland, Maine to Burlington, Vermont Yeah. Is gonna be,
Britit's through the, through the mountains, right?
JoshYeah. I'm pretty sure it's like the white mountain ranges, I'm pretty sure. Mm-hmm. Is what it's called. And yeah, my parents have given me a couple like viewpoints that we need to stop off at. So that's gonna be really beautiful. Really exciting. Especially with driving, you know, when we have driven through mountains, both of us are just always peeking out the window, like, oh my gosh. In
Britawe, but terrified. Oh yeah. I get so scared. Mm-hmm. I am, yeah. I'm actually really scared for this one, but I think it's gonna be fine. Well, and I just, it always is. I
Joshjust thought of this, this is our maiden road trip Voyage with our, our new SUV. So, new to us, SUV. So
Britif it is snowing, you gotta drive slow.
JoshOh, yes, yes. But we'll be good.
BritI ain't fucking with that in mountains.
JoshWe'll be good. Yeah.
BritI'm just scared.
JoshI know. But Vermont is super exciting. Vermont is. Ranked number one in quality of life in the United States. Just ahead of Maine? Yep. Oh, wow. Maine. Maine's number two. Vermont's number one. So we're getting back to back. And that's for the past five years, so it's not like a, a new designation? Nope. For the last five years, it's been ranked number one. Okay. So, they're praised and ranked high for inclusivity. They, again, excellent air quality. They have a very low crime rate. And again, just another East coast states that has some really good schools.
BritMm.
JoshSo, yeah. Lots of, lots of positives coming from the East coast. So
Britthere are so many well-rounded states that we're going to
JoshYeah. I mean, we, we picked them. Well, so we did. Mm-hmm.
BritYeah. That's exciting.
JoshMm-hmm.
BritOkay. So what are you most looking forward to here?
JoshMan, I don't, there, there's so much. I'm just again, looking forward to exploring the area with you. I'm sure there's plenty of good breweries that I know I looked up before that I'm really excited to go and see in Vermont.
BritYeah.
JoshYou know, we've mentioned that we're not huge drinkers. Mm-hmm. You know, just when we're at home, like these last two and a half weeks, we haven't had. Ton to drink. We've had a few, but nothing crazy. But I do appreciate a good brewery, especially a new one when we get to,
Brityeah.
JoshWhen we have the chance. So if we go and we find a new one that's gonna be really fun for me. But also the drive from Portland, Maine to Burlington is gonna be fantastic. I wanna say it's like a five hour drive, but it's gonna probably be even longer because of the stops we're gonna make and
Britthe videos we're gonna take mm-hmm. Of all the mountains. Mm-hmm.
JoshAnd we're just gonna stay tuned
Britfor that.
JoshWe're just gonna be in awe of the scenery, you know? Hopefully not all the leaves are gone, but even if they are, it's gonna be stunning. Mm. It's gonna be lovely. Yeah. What about you? Is there anything you're specifically looking forward to?
BritI would have to say I'm really looking forward to the fall colors in Vermont. Hmm. I think that, uh, they might be at the end. But I've just always envisioned Vermont in the fall and like I said, I really hope it lives up to the hype in my mind of what I think it's going to be like.
JoshMm-hmm.
BritAnd I also am so excited about this hotel. It looks so cozy. It really does. It looks like such a vibe and I'm so excited about it. I think that's a really good last stop that we're gonna be doing. I think it's a very solid choice for a last stop.
JoshYeah. Yeah. I totally agree. It's gonna be. It's gonna be great.
BritYeah.
JoshMm-hmm. It'll, it'll, it'll really cap off this two weeks that we'll be gone
Brityeah. Is there anything else that you want to talk about with this trip?
JoshI think it's gonna be fun. It's the first in the United States kind of adventure that we've done in a while.
BritYeah.
JoshOr at least it feels like it.
BritIt is. I mean, we did, we did go to Seattle last March. Mm-hmm. so I guess that was, that was the last US adventure we've been on. Yeah.
JoshI guess in comparison to total number of days. Since then we went to Sweden and then we did this last trip in Europe. So if you're going by days, we've spent a lot more days
BritYeah.
JoshTraveling, exploring out of the United States than we have in so. It will be nice to see again, the east coast that has so much to offer.
BritYeah.
JoshOr at least the, the little bits of it we get to see. yeah. Hopefully we find some, you know, really great spots that we're gonna want to come back and visit. What about you? Anything that else you wanna say about the trip or just anything at all?
BritI don't think so. I mean, I'm just really excited to do it.
JoshYeah.
BritYeah.
JoshReady? Ready for more adventures.
BritReady for more adventures.
