@WSMHtravels
Hello and welcome to the We Should Move Here. Travels podcast. My name is Brittany.
joshI'm Josh
britand we are your hosts. Today we are gonna be putting aside the idea of moving somewhere for the day, and we're gonna be talking about our dream destinations.
joshMm-hmm.
britjust thinking about where we would love to go. Mm-hmm. we do have some honorable mentions to begin with. these honorable mentions are countries that we are already planning on going to, but they were, and would be in one of our dream destination spots. So, first one is Portugal. If you've been listening, you know how excited I am for Portugal. And then we also have a trip planned, well, not fully planned, but we know that we're gonna go because if you remember voting between Ireland and Finland, Ireland won.
joshMm-hmm.
britAnd we did not get to go to Finland. So Finland, we are going in 2027. Yeah, for sure. Yes. Because I would love to see the Northern Lights.
joshMm-hmm.
britI just think Finland would be really beautiful. So I'm excited.
joshso excited for Portugal, like you said. And yeah, Finland. if Finland had won instead of Ireland would've been absolutely stoked. But Constellation Prize just going a year later.
britYou know, I am still a little salty about that because I don't think the people that voted listened to the episode. So a little salty, but it's okay. We'll move, move past that.
joshSo since you're so salty, why don't you start us out. Give us your number five spot of places you wanna travel to.
britOkay. At number five, I have Santorini Greece.
joshMm. Yes.
britI have literally always wanted to go to Greece, and I know Santorini is such a tourist spot. However, there are also small communities within Santorini and right on the outer parts of it as well that I think we would really love.
joshSure.
britUm, there are boat, food and wine tours that we could do.
joshLove it.
britAmazing. Yeah. It would be beautiful there.
joshMm-hmm.
britwe could stay in a classic, you know, the like the blue and white clay buildings.
joshOh. The ones that you always see on TikTok and travel.
britYeah. We could stay in one of those with our own private pool.
joshOh my goodness.
britOh my God. I've looked at some of these and I'm like. We have to do this.
joshI always think it's funny when places have a pool, private pool, and then you're right next to the ocean. So love it. I just think it's funny.
britI mean, it is kind of funny and ironic, but also you get to swim in it at all times. Mm-hmm. Like it doesn't close.
joshRight.
britDoesn't have dangerous creatures in it like the ocean. Mm-hmm. And you can't see anything at night. So I wouldn't go swimming in the ocean at night.
joshPlus you get to do all your handstands and back flips on a private pool.
britHonestly.
joshYeah.
britNo one else except for you in there to hit with my legs. So don't have to worry about that.
joshHey, I understand it. Okay, so cool. Buildings with private pools. All right.
britthere are also volcano hot springs near here.
joshIs that just.
britIt's just hot springs.
joshYeah.
britYeah. So like, it's basically a natural hot tub.
joshOkay.
brityeah, we did one in New Zealand.
joshOh, that was the Rotorua Hell's Gate.
britYeah.
joshOkay.
britThe mineral baths. Okay. I don't know if it's exactly the same, but I think it's similar.
joshOkay. just naturally heated water pools.
britYeah.
joshOkay.
britWe could also horseback ride on the beach.
joshOkay. That's definitely for you. 'cause horses scare me.
britOh my God. You just have to meet the right horse. You haven't met the right one.
joshI haven't met the one.
britYeah. So, so those are just a couple of the things that I have found for Santorini. Okay. I feel like we have to go here at some point soon because I have been itching to go to Greece for years. Mm-hmm. Like it has been in my top five list for so many years. It used to be my number one.
joshMm-hmm.
britUntil I started traveling more. It's been bumped a little bit, but What is your number five?
joshMy number five is Slovenia.
britOkay.
joshYes. I went deep diving in Google Maps, looking for places that were beautiful and had great food, like great kind of culture. this place, if you don't know where it is, it's kind of sandwiched between Italy, Austria-Hungary, and Croatia. It's a really small place and hmm. When I was researching it, it says that the culture and kind of the food scene is a combination of all of those. Mm-hmm. And that sounds amazing to me 'cause we've been to Austria. Love the food.
britYeah.
joshBeen to Italy. Love the food. Like everyone,
britit's so good.
joshAnd we haven't been to Hungary or Croatia, but we've talked about that. Mm-hmm. Can only imagine that. A combination of all that would be delicious. they're also really well known for their white wines.
britOoh.
joshAs well as orange wines, which I know, I know we've had, but I'm not a hundred percent sure what an orange wine is.
britthat sounds really fun.
joshYep. Led with the food scene kind of thing. Yeah. very sustainable and green country. They have, a city that is one of the largest, has one of the largest pedestrian only places in all of Europe. And they have fantastic trains. I love my trains.
britOkay.
joshIt is a place in Europe that is extremely naturally diverse. you get a little bit of a, everything was Slovenia or a good diversity of it, and if you want to look up something absolutely stunning, you can type in Lake Bled and look that up.
britOh my gosh.
joshMm-hmm.
britThat looks stunning. Gorgeous.
joshThat's what came up on when I was going through Google Maps, looking for cool places. I was like, oh, yeah.
britOh, I bet there's a beautiful hike around there. Wow. That's, that's gorgeous. Love that. Okay.
joshSo great food, great scenery, trains, walkable. Seems like a place that you would go and be able to walk from place to place, grab a wine, grab some food. Very, very Italy esque, you know, very Venice esque,
britI love that.
joshMm-hmm.
britOkay. Well, you're really convincing me to add Slovenia onto, onto my list. Yes.
joshWell, let's see if you can do the same. What's your number four?
britMy number four. We are going to,
joshare we what's here for
britOh yeah. Oh, the am Mafi Coast. Mm-hmm. In Italy. Yeah. We have been to Italy, but we did mostly northern Italy.
joshYeah.
britloved it. it was stunning. Tuscany was gorgeous and some of the best wine we've ever tasted in our lives, probably. however, we did not make it to the Amalfi Coast. And for our honeymoon, we're planning to do a Southern Italy trip because this was our first. international adventure together.
joshMm-hmm.
britSo we're gonna go back to where kind of this was started.
joshYeah.
britafter we get married. So I think that's gonna be really beautiful. I did add it onto the list just because we did not start planning that part of our trip at all yet.
joshMm-hmm.
britAnd I really wanna go to the Amalfi Coast, so it is on my dream destination list.
joshOkay. All for it. All for it. I think it's cheating to put place that we had planned for our honeymoon on here, but you know what, that's fine. We can
britdo not cheating because we planned to go to Southern Italy. We did not plan to go to the Amalfi Coast.
joshMm.
britI mean, I think it's kind of a given, but this kind of solidifies that we have to go there, so. Hey, is it cheating?
joshNo. I'm okay with it. I'll allow it. I'll allow it.
britOkay.
joshso besides the fact that it's for our honeymoon. Yeah.
britI think we could stay in Sorento. It's so beautiful. I mean, there's mountains, there's the ocean. It just looks so stunning.
joshMm-hmm.
britfrom there, there are several different boat tours that look really fun. I know what you're gonna say to this, but there's also snorkeling, which looks so fun and I've always wanted to do it.
joshI could do it. I could do it. You could do
britit.
joshI think I could do it. I think I would be very scared. But if we're doing it together, I'd be okay.
britYeah. I mean, well, it's our honeymoon. We have to go snorkeling.
joshOkay. Is that a requirement for honeymoons?
britIt is, yeah.
joshOh,
britI don't know temperature wise, 'cause we're getting married in October, so I don't know if we'll be able to. Mm-hmm. Because it might be too cold.
joshYeah.
britSo we'll talk about that and see what temperatures and stuff will be like.
joshSure.
britBut that's an option. There's also a pizza making class.
joshOh, yay.
britThat looks so fun. I think it went viral like a couple years ago on social media.
joshOh, is it the one where they're partying like crazy while,
brityeah.
joshOkay.
britYeah.
joshDefinitely seeing it. That looks fun.
britI think it's this one.
joshYeah. Okay. That looks fun.
britIt does look fun.
joshMm-hmm.
britso it's basically like a pizza making class and a wine, wine tour, or like a drinking
joshmm-hmm.
britEnvironment of some sort. there's tons of food and wine tours all over the place. I mean, you're in Italy.
joshGotta do it.
britIt's to be expected. Mm-hmm. You're going to eat and you're gonna drink wine. That's what you do in Italy.
joshYeah. Look at the rolling hills.
britYeah.
joshYeah.
britabsolutely beautiful ocean views, of course. Just stunning. Mm-hmm. It kind of gives me from photos, kind of similar vibes from Santorini mm-hmm. Greece.
joshYeah.
britjust because. The houses are kind of like stacked on top of each other like that. Mm-hmm. And, um, the rolling hills or mountains and the water's right there and it just, it kind of looks similar.
joshYeah.
britI don't know what it is about that look, but I just love it.
joshI was gonna say, the way you're talking about these, back to back, you got boat tours, food tours, the stair step, places to stay up the hills. Oh
britmy gosh.
joshDon't tell me that. Don't tell me that. There's private, pool houses on this coast as well. Is there?
britOh, there probably is, yeah. Probably not as famous as the ones in Santorini, but yeah.
joshFair enough. Fair enough.
britso overall just really beautiful. Looks like it would be so much fun and we have to go there for our honeymoon.
joshI guess that's good. Reason is I need to go there is for a honeymoon, so Yeah. You don't have to convince me of that one. Well, that's good
britbecause now it's our first plan for our honeymoon. Yes. We'll go to the Amalfi coast.
joshOne of the places we have planned one less thing to do.
britYeah. Okay. What's your number? Four.
joshAlright, I'm gonna make you do this again. I'm gonna have you look up the Morskie Oko in Poland, or you could try typing out Eye of the Sea Poland.
britWow.
joshMm-hmm.
britThose mountains kind of remind me of the remarkables in New Zealand.
joshYes. Yes they do. I had that written down. Yeah.
britWow. Those are stunning.
joshIt and this lake in these mountains, it, it either looks like it belongs so perfectly or it doesn't look like it belongs at all.
britYeah.
joshIt's, it's so stunningly beautiful. And that's just one of many lakes in all of the mountains there in Poland. It's
britlooks gorgeous.
joshIt's just stunning.
britYeah.
joshanother reason for Poland, we had talked about possibly doing it for our long Europe trip, going to Krakow 'cause it seems like a wonderful city. A lot of people go there, wonderful Christmas markets there, that'd be a great reason for food. They are really into fermented foods, so you see a lot of sourdough there and fermented veggies that we love. But some of the ones that I saw while looking up like, oh, what's some really good food would be Hunter Stew. just coming back from Ireland not too long ago, we had some amazing stew. So another stew just was like. Fits.
britWe love Stew.
joshMm-hmm.
britWe both love Stew so much.
joshYeah. so Hunter Stew, it's got a polish name to it, but I get not something I would be able to pronounce unfortunately. dumplings. They also have great dumplings as well as a sandwich called, Zapiekanka. I probably said that wrong, but it's like an open face sandwich and Oh, it just looks,
britmm,
joshand sounds delicious. So some really good food. There is this city called Gdańsk it's a historic town that was, I think, fully rebuilt after World War ii. It is so picturesque and it's right on a river. This actually looks very similar to like a Venice.
britOh my God, this looks so cute. It kind of reminds me of Belgium Ghent.
joshOh, there you go. Yep. Ghent Belgium. Yep. That's even better. One to compare it to.
britOh my gosh, that's so cute.
joshMm-hmm.
britWe have to go here and for Christmas markets. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my God. There's a picture of Christmas markets. Yeah, I'm sold. I, yeah. Yeah. We're gonna go here.
joshAnd it's another one where they have fantastic public transportation. 'cause I'm just obsessed with public transportation right now. So would love to go there and just be able to get it wherever we wanted with a train or a tram. And it's. Very affordable as compared to the United States.
britSo, yeah. That sounds like a really amazing stop. It does.
joshYeah. Poland was my number four. What was your number three?
britmy top three. It was really hard to order.
joshOh, decipher between 'em. Okay.
britYes, because I want to go to all three of these places so badly.
joshYep.
britit almost feels like a need that we have to go to some of these places. so number three, I did put, China.
joshOkay. Now.
britI know China is huge. I can't just say China, right?
joshWell, you can, but,
britbut, particularly where I want to go is the Hunan province where? There are pillar like mountains that look absolutely stunning. it is actually where Avatar was filmed, in this national Forest Park. I'm not gonna try to pronounce it, but it looks so beautiful and out of this world that Avatar was filmed there. I mean,
joshoh my gosh, I'm, yeah, I'm looking at these, the mountains you're talking about, where all the scenes in Avatar, where they look like floating. That's what these are.
britso stunning. I would love, absolutely love to go there. I have also seen a lot, on my social media, people climbing up how Heavens gait, this would be such a challenge I think, for both of us. but I think we're getting more into physical challenges that I. make us feel proud of ourselves and all of that stuff. So, uh, it would be a challenge. It is 999 steps.
joshOh my gosh.
britAnd these steps are steep.
joshHoly cow. Look at that. Oh yeah. I've seen people do this before.
britYeah. Oh, I think it would be so rewarding though to do this and in Chinese culture, 999 is considered to be lucky so I think it would be fun to kind of partake in this challenge and you get to see this stunning view at the top. and then there are escalators that can take you up and down if you do feel like it's too much. Mm-hmm. But I would love to challenge ourselves and do this.
joshthe pictures, it looks really steep. Mm-hmm. It looks like quite the hike, but I think we could do it.
britthere's a lot more in China that I would like to explore. Mm-hmm. I mean, their food scene would be insane. It would be out of this world. And I am a dumpling girl. That is probably my favorite food. Mm-hmm. In the entire world.
joshMm-hmm.
britSo the dumplings there, I would, oh, I would be in heaven.
joshI was gonna say, shame on you. If you didn't mention any food scene in China, I was gonna be like, oh my gosh.
britHonestly. Yeah. No.
joshKick you off the podcast. This, this is basically a food pod.
britIt really is. I just think that this would be such a fun trip and we would explore so much. We would try so many new things and I get taken back to Japan in my memory often
joshmm-hmm.
britOf like just being immersed in a very different culture
joshmm-hmm.
britThan our own.
joshYeah.
britAnd how many new experiences were thrown at us during that trip? And I'm like, I mean, China would be very similar.
joshYeah.
britIt would be a completely different culture. which I thoroughly enjoy experiencing because there are so many people living their lives out there
joshmm-hmm.
britIn different cultures, in different countries, and just different ways than what we know.
joshYeah.
britSo,
joshno, I'm a hundred percent with you on that. It is really cool. Because it's so jolting. Like when we were in Japan, we were just senses, were constantly on high alert, whether it was new food or going on the trains, just walking down the street talking to different people. It was just a totally worthwhile once in a lifetime trip. It was awesome.
britI think doing that and going to places where you're so far outta your element really teaches you Yeah. It teaches you who you are teaches you things about other cultures, other people.
joshYeah.
britI think makes you a kinder person too.
joshA hundred percent.
britYeah.
joshI'm with you. Mm-hmm. I'm sold. We've talked about China before.
britWe have definitely talked about China before. Yeah.
joshDefinitely On both of our bucket lists for sure.
britWhat is your number three?
joshSo I think I'm going kind of in a similar direction as you with my list, because my number three is Taiwan.
britOoh,
joshokay. Yeah. So just off the coast of China, south of Japan, right over in that area. we've talked about Japan and wanna go back to Japan?
britWe need to go back to Japan. No, it's a must.
joshBut there's just always, we always come back like, oh, there are so many places we have to go.
britI know.
joshAnd I think a place, even though it's a complete different culture, complete different place, a Taiwan or a China might be a great substitute as a place to go to because they have very similar kind of cuisines.
britYeah.
joshWhich is one thing that of course we loved about Japan.
britYeah.
joshsome things that we loved about Japan that are great in Taiwan is they have beef soup that is just known around the world. Bao buns. Mm-hmm.
britI love Bao.
joshYep.
britActually Bao, um, is buns. So saying Bao buns is like saying buns. Buns.
joshOh, it's, it's redundant.
britYes.
joshOh, so you can just say Bao Bao, you know, I even have it typed on my list. That's just Bao, and I just threw buns in there. If you look up Taiwanese food looks amazing. also, Boba tea was invented in Taiwan.
britI love Boba. Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah.
joshanother one, I hate to keep on doing this to you and to whoever's listening, but you should Google this Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan.
britWow. Oh my goodness.
joshThis reminded me very much like Queenstown. Yeah. Kind of like how we were talking about, the Eye of the Sea Lake in Poland. This even more so reminds me of Queenstown, just how dramatically and jaw dropping. Beautiful it is.
britWow. It really is.
joshMm-hmm.
britOh my gosh. I could go here. I don't know if this is very productive 'cause we're just adding so much to each other's lists. So how are we gonna get to all of these places?
joshWe got loads of time to do lots of traveling.
britWe do. We have our whole lives.
joshWe got forever. Since you're already on your keyboard, I'm gonna throw another one at you. Taroko Gorge. That's T-A-R-O-K-O. Gorge.
britWow.
joshMm-hmm. Yeah.
britIs that a waterfall? Look at that suspension bridge.
joshMm-hmm.
britThat looks terrifying. Terrifyingly beautiful.
joshI'm pretty sure Taiwan is one of the most like densely mountainous places on earth
britreally? Okay. Mm-hmm. Wow. It looks gorgeous.
joshanother thing that came up while I was researching, they have a festival every year. It's considered one of the most dangerous festivals, people say. It's described as looking like the galaxy is exploding.
britHmm.
joshI'll try to pronounce this, but it's the Yanshui beehive fireworks festival. for people just listening, all you see is people wearing like beehive suits and behind, behind like plexiglass because they just got fireworks going off all over the place.
britI bet it's gorgeous. I bet it's really fun. I bet it's exhilarating, but I don't wanna do that. That is not for me, dog.
joshI also wanna say, as a side note, I'm pretty sure Taiwan was the first country in Asia that legalized same-sex marriage.
britReally? So Taiwan would be a pretty progressive place.
joshMm-hmm. Very safe, very progressive. great food, really beautiful. Some wild festivals.
britYeah,
joshthat is my number three onto the top two. I feel like this is like deal or no deal and like opening a case or something. What is in case number two?
britNo, um, well do we get to go to our number ones then? Um, my number two is Switzerland.
joshOkay, sure.
britwe have both been talking about Switzerland since. We first started dating.
joshMm-hmm.
britLike we've been talking about it forever.
joshwhat big traveler doesn't talk about Switzerland at some point?
britHonestly, it looks so gorgeous. Every single picture I see of Switzerland, I'm like, I Oh, we gotta go there.
joshAnd it's so funny 'cause I think we, we danced around it quite a bit in our travels so far.
britWe have, we really have. And we've talked about going there, but we've always just decided somewhere else.
joshYeah.
britso this is in my number two spot. I think we could stay in Bernice Oberland, which is surrounded by mountains. Look it up, Bernice Oberland, Switzerland.
joshOh my gosh.
britOh yeah.
joshIt's just a town in like a valley.
britYeah. It looks so gorgeous. You're surrounded by mountains and water and just like it looks stunning. there is something that is on my bucket list here.
joshWhat's on your bucket list
britto go paragliding.
joshOh gosh.
britIn Switzerland. Yes. And you can do that here. It is terrifying. However, I think it would be so fun.
joshOh, of course. It'd be fun.
britAnd it's safe. As safe as jumping off a mountain can be.
joshThat makes me feel great about it, because that doesn't feel safe at all.
britWell, if you don't wanna do it, I'll do it on my own.
joshWell, if you do it, I gotta do it.
britReally.
joshAnd that's how this works. I'm gonna, if I can convince you to do things, you can convince me to do things. Mm-hmm.
britMm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah,
joshit's good. It's good for the pod.
britIt is for the pods.
joshOkay. So, uh, jump off cliffs,
britjumping off cliffs or mountains here.
joshfor paragliding.
britFor paragliding.
joshOkay. Cool. Cool.
britthere are some amazing hikes in the Swiss, Swiss Alps. Like, well,
joshthere's gotta be.
britAbsolutely stunning, gorgeous. We've gotten into hiking recently, like I think these hikes would be above and beyond what we've ever experienced in our lives.
joshI, I think you might have to climb up another mountain.
britOh, I know. I was looking at some of 'em and I was like, oh, that one looks scary, but beautiful.
joshGonna have to strap on the boots tight.
britOh my gosh.
joshWe're going up a mountain.
britNo, my biggest fear is like, we go and do this and I fall off a cliff and die in another country.
joshOh, but jumping off a mountain, the paraglide isn't scary.
britOh my God. We're gonna be fine. We have something attached to us. We don't climbing up a mountain, we just got our boots.
joshWe're attached to the ground.
britSome of us are, some of us fall. Okay.
joshOkay. But you could, you would do it though. You're, you're saying if there was one everyone, like you have to go up this, you'd be like, okay.
britYeah. I mean, it depends on the hike, obviously.
joshRight? Like,
britI'm not gonna do an extremely dangerous one that's like
joshRight. And like people die on the, Nope. That's
britnot doing that.
joshI can see the mountain from here. It's pretty big.
brityeah. So we could do some amazing hikes. In Bernice Oberland, there is a Swiss cheese and chocolate tour.
joshOh gosh,
britit sounds amazing. I found it on TripAdvisor. If you're going and you do this tour, please let me know how it is.
joshYeah,
britbecause I wanna do it.
joshOh man, that sounds as good as what, what did we do in, was it Brussels? Did we do a cheese and No, what did we, oh, we did chocolate and beer. That's right.
britChocolate and beer. That was fun.
joshMm-hmm.
britBut this is Swiss cheese and chocolate.
joshSwiss cheese and chocolate. Hey, that's two of my two favorite things to eat.
britYeah, me too.
joshMe
brittoo. Cheese and chocolate.
joshYep. Sounds like a perfect charcuterie board.
britIt really does. Um, but also it is just out of this world. Beauty in these mountains. Of course. So I think it would be insane not to have Switzerland on one of our lists.
joshyeah, of course. It's stunning.
britSo what is your number two?
joshOkay. My number two. I mentioned this in the last episode of the podcast. If you didn't listen to it, go back and listen to that. But I've always kind of had an interest in going to South America, but it's definitely been. Intensified since starting this podcast. 'cause I just want to go everywhere. Mm-hmm. And so Columbia would definitely be a place that I would love to go. Several other places in South America as well, but Columbia for sure. Okay. Would be a place I would love to go. this is another place where it is so naturally nature diverse. They have beaches, they have mountains, they have the the Amazon rainforest.
britOh my gosh.
joshAnd they have deserts. So they literally have parts of everything.
britYeah.
joshThere.
britThat actually sounds really terrifying.
joshIt does because you could be in anywhere, you could go to the mountains, I'm sure, get some snow, go to the beach, be around massive amounts of water and tan. Then you go to a desert.
britNo, but like all of the animals.
joshOh, in the rainforest, Amazon. Yeah.
britIn the Amazon and in the ocean and in the desert. Just, oh my God.
joshMm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
britI don't think I'm helping your case in presenting this. I apologize.
joshOkay. How about this? So coffee? Yeah. Yep.
britColombian coffee. Yeah.
joshYep. Arabic beans.
britMm-hmm.
joshMm-hmm. So, amazing coffee scene. Of course. to go with that, their foodie scene could have empanadas for days.
britI love empanadas.
joshMm-hmm. And I wrote down another one, I'm probably gonna say it wrong, the Bandha Pisa. I dunno how to describe it. It looks delicious. It's a like a full breakfast, basically. Ooh. And it's, it's like a hardy farmer's breakfast. I think it's described as, but if you pull up looking at it, you're like, oh my gosh, I could eat that. when I looked it up, it was described by someone's Reddit, I believe, as the Ghent Belgium of Columbia. This city and it's Zales, it's safe, it's historic. Got the great food and coffee scene, it's got mountains. It's a little cooler. Because of those mountains, so,
britokay.
joshMm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
britWe love to Ghent Belgium, so anything that's described as the Ghent Belgium of a place I feel like will love.
joshYeah.
britSo, okay.
joshAnd it's very affordable So Columbia is my number two. Looks like a place that is very beautiful, very diverse, just a stunning place to be.
britYeah.
joshMm-hmm. Seems
britlike it. Yeah. Okay.
joshBut I am now ready for you to open your last case. What is in case number one?
britin my number one spot is somewhere I have wanted to go. I think my whole life, maybe not consciously my whole life, but I've always dreamed about seeing the animals that live here.
joshOkay.
britI've always been an animal person, always will be. And these animals always have intrigued me and scared me I just would love to see them in the wild.
joshMm-hmm.
britI also would never go and see them. Under captivity or anything like that. So when we have been in places that maybe, you know, you can ride an elephant or something like that, we would never do that. we would make sure to look at places that treat their animals. Right.
joshSure.
britit, or in national forests.
joshMm-hmm.
britBut my number one place is Kenya.
joshOh.
britSo here we can do a safari
joshmm-hmm.
britWhere we can go into national parks and see giraffes and elephants and lions. And these terrify me. But rhinos, I mean, they're all roaming free
josharound. This is a sight scene safari. Right. Okay.
britThey're, but these animals are roaming free around their natural habitats, which I mean, would, is the perfect way to see them. I have also always wanted to do a hot air balloon over the Great Migration.
joshOh yeah.
britSo that is in between July and October.
joshOkay.
britWhere. All of the animals are migrating, which they naturally do.
joshMm-hmm.
britbut you can book a hot air balloon and watch all of these animals travel through to their next location. Like, it looks like such a life changing experience. Mm-hmm. And me being such like an animal person, I think it would just change my life so much to be able to witness this.
joshit definitely would. I don't know how your life couldn't change after seeing that.
britYeah.
joshMm-hmm. It's like seeing the earth from space. Yeah.
britNo, that, that's like the ultimate travel destination is space.
joshYes.
britWe're never gonna get to go there, but, oh, how funny.
joshso the great migration. Air balloon rides, see all the animals.
britYes. there's also places where there are sanctuaries for like endangered animals. And these sanctuaries are not where they hold animals captive, but where they take good care of them, they get to roam in a lot of land. And, there's a giraffe hotel
joshOh, yes.
britWhere you can feed giraffes from your window.
joshOh, that's fantastic.
britYeah. It seems like they take really good care of their giraffes. It seems like. the giraffes can come and go.
joshMm-hmm.
britIf I'm reading it correctly.
joshyeah. I think I've seen this. I'm pretty sure they're free roaming drafts, but they stick close by because they know they can get some food.
britI love giraffes so much.
joshMm-hmm.
britThere's such gentle giants. Mm-hmm. To be able to meet one and befriend one would be my dream. Mm-hmm. Like, ugh.
joshBetter than space,
britliterally. No, no, no.
joshOh.
britthere is also, in Kenya there are coffee farm tours, so you can go and tour where the coffee is made and you get tastings along the way. So I think that would be really fun. And then there's also food tours, like street food tours and, things like that that I think we would have so much fun with.
joshOh, of course. Oh my gosh. A, a coffee farm tour. Ugh.
britThis would be an ultimate bucket list adventure for me, because this is something I've always wanted to do.
joshMm-hmm. And not that it's ever a point us to do something to say you've done it, but this would be a whole nother continent for us. So just be able to cross that off.
britYeah.
joshA list that, you know, we've been to Africa.
britMm-hmm. I would love to go there. I think it would be so much fun. would be a life changing experience. I think we have to do it.
joshMm-hmm. I think we do. that's in your number one spot for a reason. I think that's something that would be really special to do.
britYeah. Yeah. I'm not gonna lie, it scares the shit outta me. But I think it's it. It's gotta be done. We gotta do it.
joshGotta do it.
britYep.
joshMm-hmm.
britWhat's in your number one?
joshmy number one is also of course something that we have to do. Mm-hmm. And it's definitely a place we've talked about ourselves with family and because we have ancestry here and we've been to Scotland and Ireland, where I know I have ancestry from going to Norway has to be in my number one spot. Yeah.
britMm-hmm.
joshMm-hmm. I, I'm sure I have ancestors from many other places, but Norway is one for sure where we know that we have family from. So
brityeah, both of us do. Mm-hmm.
joshMm-hmm.
britWow. Oh, that would be so beautiful. Mm-hmm. I've always wanted to go to Norway too.
joshYep. We've talked about it and I think it's just, I think it would be a great next spot. 'cause we've been to Scotland, we've been to Ireland, Norway just seems like a place that has that emotional pull towards it. Mm-hmm. Kind of like we felt for Scotland beforehand. I kind of feel like a little bit of a pull there. It would be cool to see if, when we got there, 'cause of course we're gonna have to go at some point.
britYeah.
joshIf it's like Scotland where it's like, oh wow, that there's a pull here, I can feel something here.
britYeah. Mm-hmm. And I know we're not talking about like moving to a place, but Norway is one that we both have talked a lot about, where we could probably see ourselves moving to one of those Nordic countries.
joshYeah. Yeah. So I mean, there's crossover in this list. I mean, there, there are places that we had talked about like Poland. but it's also just a beautiful place, the the fjords. last time I'll ask you on this episode, but Google the troll's tongue. The
brittroll's tongue.
joshMm-hmm.
britOh my gosh.
joshMm-hmm.
britDo you walk out on that?
joshPeople do.
britThere's no way that's stable. What?
joshFor those who don't get the chance to look it up, it is a very high cliff edge that looks like a tongue of, I guess a troll Norway thinks sticking out its tongue and you're over the top of Forest Mountain Lakes and it's stunning.
britOh my gosh.
joshIt's so beautiful.
britIt looks so gorgeous.
joshThere's so much of that in Norway. 'cause it's such a elongated country. It goes along Sweden and connects with Finland Place that we gave an honorable mention to. It's just got stunning scenery. Yeah.
britYeah. Norway. This just like blew my mind. Oh my gosh. That would be so fun to do that. But it also looks so scary.
joshOf course.
britUm, but the beauty in Norway looks unmatched. It looks so gorgeous.
joshYeah. It it really does. It really does. I pulled it up and I was like, oh my Oh, well, kinda like, uh, Bernice Oberland, like I looked up that picture Yeah. For Switzerland and I was like, oh, oh. Tears to my eyes. It's so pretty.
britYeah.
joshAnd I just want to go and see it.
britBut me too. We, we have to go to all of these places now.
joshit's beautiful. Of course, I wouldn't do myself or this podcast justice if I didn't mention the food. Norway big on wild game and seafood and they have fantastic salmon and deer dishes. Ugh.
britIf you know anything about me, you know I love a salmon.
joshMm-hmm.
britUgh. Okay.
joshthey are having a big boom in micro breweries here.
britOoh.
joshYep. We love our micro breweries here in Wisconsin. So it would feel like home going there and going to a bunch of breweries.
britYeah.
joshMm-hmm. And then another reason to go, it is one of these safest countries and most inclusive countries in the world. So no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you should feel safe and included here.
britOh, that's beautiful.
joshYeah.
britLove that. Okay. Mm-hmm. Well,
joshSo now that we've gone over both of our top fives, how do you feel about our 10 put together?
britall of these are so exciting to me. I'm having a hard time organizing what order we need to go to these places, uh, and how we're gonna do this on top of going to places Or we know we need to check out to move. Yeah. we'll figure it out. We'll get to these places. Yeah. For sure.
joshWe will.
britWhat do you think about our top 10 put together?
joshI think it's fantastic. if we were to throw these together, there's gonna be some of yours that are probably gonna jump, some of mine that I have listed.
britYeah.
joshAnd it'll just become a mixed mash of places that we have to go.
britYeah.
joshYou know, just like Portugal and Finland, if we didn't already have plans in our heads like, we're gonna go here, those would definitely be on here. So I am really excited to, probably go to one of these in between all those.
britYeah.
joshMm-hmm.
britMe too.
joshIs there any one of my five that most captures your imagination or your travel spirit?
britI mean. Norway, Norway,
joshof course.
britYeah. Norway, Taiwan.
joshAh,
britthat was surprising.
joshMm-hmm.
britI don't know why I, I never thought of Taiwan.
joshit was Google Maps is the reason that I thought of it. 'cause I was like, I wanna pick some Asian, I wanted to pick just again, by like, we've been to Japan.
britYeah.
joshAnd so I was circling over there and Taiwan and looked at some Google photos, some food stuff. Of course. I was like, oh, Taiwan Taiwan's pretty
britcool. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. it looks really beautiful. I think that would be an amazing trip.
joshMm-hmm. minus the beehive fireworks festival.
britYeah, no, I don't wanna go there for that. we could do possibly Taiwan and China in the same trip if we wanted to, we could see.
joshMm-hmm.
britAre there any of mine that you, that really stuck out to you?
joshWell, of course. I mean, we've talked about Italy and the Amalfi coast for our honeymoon, so that's there. Greece, just not even Santorini, but so many places in Greece I would love to go. So Greece in general would be fantastic. China, we've talked about a bunch Switzerland, what big traveler doesn't want to go to Switzerland? Uh, Kenya was one that was surprising, but makes total sense.
britYeah.
joshAnd that would be a perfect spot, I think, to go Check off a list of going to Africa, going to another continent.
britMm-hmm.
joshall of them is the answer. They, they, they all look fantastic, and I would absolutely add 'em all to my list.
britYeah. I mean, same.
joshYeah.
