SPEAKER_00

I think this is the perfect time to do a reading wrap-up because I'm winning.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, with that.

SPEAKER_00

That's why. I think it was meant to be. How many books have you read this this year so far?

SPEAKER_01

I just started book Susie. Susie Anna. So far this year.

SPEAKER_00

Not sleeping next month, so I can just read. Guys are heavy competition. Future Susie, aka September Susie, and the rest of the year will probably have a problem. You're gonna shoot up in books, guaranteed. I need to quit my job.

SPEAKER_02

Because I will never catch up. You want me to go to go first?

SPEAKER_00

Because I only have Yeah, I'm gonna take a while. She's gonna be both of us. Just keep rubbing it in, Susie.

SPEAKER_01

Welcome back to Plot Twist Please, where we sip, flip, and spill the tea on books and booze. I'm Beth.

SPEAKER_00

I'm Cass. And I'm Susanna.

SPEAKER_01

So today we're gonna be diving into books we've read in April, which is our first episode like this. First wrap-up episode. Yeah. Yeah. I hope you guys like it. So yeah, let us know if you like it, and we will keep doing this going forward. We're gonna be talking about which ones we've loved and which ones have been shmeh.

SPEAKER_02

Shmeh.

SPEAKER_00

Today's drink is again Cassandra's wedding wine. She has unlimited bottles of this, so we are drinking it. I have so many bottles. Expect wine or sangria for the foreseeable future.

SPEAKER_01

Unforeseeable? 10 to 15 episodes. Maybe 20. I'm fine with it though. At least possibly for the rest of this season. Yeah, true.

SPEAKER_02

Before we jump into it, what's everyone reading?

SPEAKER_00

I just finished uh Once I'm Gone, I think it was called. It was on my Kindle. It's like very short thriller novella. I saw that. Yeah, When I'm Gone or How short? It was 60 pages.

SPEAKER_01

Perfect. I can do six books this morning. There you go.

SPEAKER_00

I read it this morning. It was really good. It had me going like, what? immediately. And um, then now I'm going to read my physical copy of Once Upon a Broken Heart. I'm very upset about reading a physical book because my Kindle is like perfect for reading Once Upon a Broken Heart. Got Jack's Oh, yes, and the whole vibe. Yeah, but trying to save money. So ish. Good for you. I'm proud of you. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

It'll last five minutes.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

Give it shut five minutes.

SPEAKER_02

You shut it. Just going by previous experiences.

SPEAKER_00

I'm trying to be better. Go on. What are you reading?

SPEAKER_02

I'm reading Hunted by the Demon's Vow by A.N. Coddle. I'm like 10% in it, but it's actually really good so far.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Yeah. Nice. This is also going to be added to my list. Oh, yeah. And I'm doing our book second book club of the month book. Finally.

SPEAKER_00

Finery. Finery. She's not too far in, unfortunately. You're not that far in right now. Well, I've got a couple things pegged for quotes.

SPEAKER_01

What are you using as your bookmark right now? This is a receipt. This is what happens when you go and you buy things physical in store, and they give you a little paper. Just use that. It's not a bookmark. Well, I mean, technically it is, but they're they're more for quotes. Ah. Yeah.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because Kindles, you can't. Well, when you're using a physical, you can't do a quote.

SPEAKER_01

Gotta write that down.

SPEAKER_02

I know that I was like, what do I do?

SPEAKER_00

And I was like, I'm just gonna write it down.

SPEAKER_02

Fair enough.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, before we get into it, let's talk about how many books we've each read in April. I've read nine.

SPEAKER_02

This is probably our worst month for reading. I know, we're doing a reading wrap-up. Yeah. I've read, well, I'm on my fifth currently, but I've finished four. Same. So this is my lowest month for books.

SPEAKER_01

So far. So I'm planning on finishing this by tomorrow night. Now I've got Suzy's on the docket and another one, so I'm hoping to make it six.

SPEAKER_02

In March I read seven, so I'm behind a bit.

SPEAKER_00

I think this is the perfect time to do a reading wrap-up because I'm winning.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, without why.

SPEAKER_00

That's why I think it was meant to be. Susie's like, finally. I'm a very competitive person. All I do is win, win, win no matter what. Got books on my mind and I've never given up.

SPEAKER_01

Love it. So good. Should have done one in January. I had 11 books.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_02

Man, this is slacking.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'm hoping to recreate that next month.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we'll do better next month. Sorry, guys. But combined, we've read a decent amount of books.

SPEAKER_01

Because they're not all the same books.

SPEAKER_00

Correct. We do tend to read different books on our own. We would have been tied in January, so I still would have come out on the top just sharing the spot with you. Because I did 12 or 11, whatever it was. Okay, guys, before we go into which books we've each read, let's talk about our reader summaries. So Fable has this summary of what kind of reader you are based on the type of books you read. It is beta. I don't, it's probably like an AI sort of thing, which is unfortunate, but it is quite interesting after it changes. Like you get to see what kind of reader you are.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, mine changes all the time, actually.

SPEAKER_00

Same. But this time, which I haven't had before, I am a secret seeker. It says you've been reading romance with a side of danger lately, making for a thrilling bookshelf. Your dynamic reading list creates an exciting escape whenever you need it. Which I'd say is quite accurate, but I have DNF'd books that fit that description, like romance with danger in it.

SPEAKER_02

You have? Yes. What are you doing, Beth? What's yours?

SPEAKER_01

I'm Dark Romancer. Your reading journey winds through heart-wrenching tales, dark romance, and thrilling mysteries. Your stories are filled with flawed characters and more morally ambiguous characters with flawed characters and morally ambiguous choices, navigating the more complex side of humanity.

unknown

Nice.

SPEAKER_00

That's a really good one. I actually like that one better than mine.

SPEAKER_02

Mine, I'm the same one as you, but it's a different blurb. Ooh, okay. Okay, so mine is Secret Seeker. You read to feed an obsession with glamorous and secretive worlds, and determined protagonists to expose dark secrets. You live for the drama, relishing in the twists and turns. That's me. Would you say that's accurate with the end of the thing? I would say that's accurate.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. No, I have a question. Yeah, I would. Okay. On that same page, what's your average rating? 3.7 and 3.9.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, mine's 4.2. Whoa.

SPEAKER_01

Had a good month. I know. Very good. And how many books have you read this this year so far?

SPEAKER_02

So far, I'm on. I just started book 23.

SPEAKER_00

Susie? Susanna. I've how many books I've read? So far. So far this year? 35.

SPEAKER_01

I'm on number 30. Dang! I'm so last year. Catch me not reading next or not sleeping next month so I can just read. Last year you guys are heavy competition.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, last year I read 50 books the whole year. So I'm definitely gonna surpass that. My goal was like 100 books this year. Yep. So because yours was 100 and mine was 105. Now I feel like it should be the opposite. You'll catch up. You'll catch up. Last year I read 48. I'm very competitive. Me too. But I think that makes it very interesting. Like, do you still, after you finish a book, go to my page to see what I'm at?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but now it's not like me just like escoin like this. It's you going boop and me going. I like being a winner of something. It's I'm coming. I don't like losing. It's a sad feeling.

SPEAKER_02

Hilarious. I really like Fable because it gives you like stats about like how you read. If you guys don't use Fable, what are you doing with your life?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's superior to Goodreads, especially if you pay for the Fable Plus, like you get a lot more information.

SPEAKER_02

Insights, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so that's interesting. I do enjoy that. I don't pay, so I can also vouch for the phone.

SPEAKER_01

She's a peasant.

SPEAKER_02

The free one is free one's good too, but it does give you a little bit more insight with the Fable Plus. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So but if you're Poe, it's still good.

SPEAKER_02

I'm Poe. I just pinch my pennies to afford it. Actually, I just don't even seem like a further me problem.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I pinched you. Look at your pennies and she goes, pennies? What are pennies? Pennies don't exist anymore. They do in my mind.

SPEAKER_00

In Canada, they're gone. They don't, they literally don't exist.

SPEAKER_01

They just they yeah, I feel like things need to change so that it's not like they're like, oh, you owe eight eight thirty one, which is eight thirty. It's like then why say one? I don't have that one. It should get it out. Tills should just automatically get rid of that. I know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But like just automatically round down or up. Yeah. Preferably. Especially when it's like have you ever had where someone's like, oh you owe 835 and or 833 or something like that. And you give it away. Go up or down. Like you give them 835 and they're like, oh, here's your five cents back. And you're like, why? Well, what is it? Is it yeah? Technically, if you're going three, it should be five, two would be zero. Yeah. And they just, yeah. Never seems to make sense.

SPEAKER_02

So dumb. Anyways, bringing it back. Bringing it back. What genres did you gravitate towards this month?

SPEAKER_00

Looking at all nine of my books. Okay. I'd say I grab Salt in Wound. I'd say I gravitated more towards the fantasies because I had uh Legendary Finale, I had Voice of the Ocean and the Tempest and Tea Leaves, and those were all fantasies. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

But dark romance and romanticy has definitely been yours. Hot and heavy. Mine?

SPEAKER_02

Quite literally. Yes. Okay, I read two of my books were like dark romance rom-com situations. And then we had I had a thriller and then I had uh romanticy. But would Vanessa Allen be dark romance or Rushessa?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Sorry, Novessa, yeah. Yeah, they're stalkers. They're like it's yeah, like stalker. To me, they're not dark though. They're so light and fluffy. Because they're funny. Yeah. They are funny.

SPEAKER_02

But they need therapy for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Still.

SPEAKER_02

Could be darker. For sure. That's why I say dark rom-com. It's got darker themes, but not like the normal dark. Yes. You know?

SPEAKER_00

Did you mood read, or was it like planned reading sessions?

SPEAKER_01

Planned. This month has been planned.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you've been planned.

SPEAKER_01

Except for Clash of Claws. That was that was more mood. What am I in the mood for? This sounds good. And that was a good mood.

SPEAKER_02

Mine have all been mine have definitely all been mood reading. I've just been in a I don't know, and I've been in a vibe where I'm like craving some thrillers. And you have been.

SPEAKER_01

You've been talking about them. You're like, we need some th thrillers. We need some more thrillers. We need two thrillers more often.

SPEAKER_02

Thriller was thrillers was like my MO. Yeah, it was my thing. That's why I started reading. I used to read just straightwear. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm gonna go back to my roots a little bit here. And then yeah, just like just the I I do like the the funnier comedic relief, like dark romances. Yes. They're good, they're a good time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. How about you? I'd say like besides our book club books, those were planned reads. Other than that, it was more so mood. And then Once Upon a Broken Heart is Planned, because I've been thinking about that book non-stop and I need more of Jack's. So I am fair reading. But definitely I'd say more mood over planned. Any slumps or obsessions this month?

SPEAKER_02

Um, obsessions, yes. I really liked our book club book.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I've been I've been both this month. Definitely have. I was kind of saying, like, so that yeah, this month has been probably my hardest month to get books done, but part of that is my youngest is coming off of naps. She has at what at most one nap a day, and some days it's not very long.

SPEAKER_02

She's taking up your reading time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Broodings. Yeah. And you have a toddler. And I have a toddler. And that's the thing, is like she's up first. So a lot of times I'm like, I'll wake up even like 30 minutes before she's usually up. And then I swear she's like her spidey sense tingles, and she's like, Mom's awake, I'm awake. Um, and then Harrison is um he has not wanted to go to bed on at his normal time. I don't know if he's like transitioning from like toddler sleep to kid sleep. So he's not needing like the 12 hours anymore. So he's been staying up later. And by the time like he goes to bed, I'm like, all right.

SPEAKER_00

Does he he starts school in September, right? Yeah. Well, that would be nice for you too.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's just like so.

SPEAKER_00

I know my life is gonna change again, it's just like this this window of you'll have more time, and then with Ainsley, like she's still so little that you could probably just have her chill with you, like she'd probably just be happy with cuddling. No, never mind.

SPEAKER_01

No, are you kidding me? If I have like, if I have my if I have a book, Ainsley's like literally like rips it out and she's like, What's that? She like works.

SPEAKER_02

Harrison will just sit there and chill.

SPEAKER_01

Harrison will chill. I can sit beside Harrison and read, and he'll just hang out with me. Ainsley's like, nah. So Harrison's the reader. Ainsley will not. She likes books, but like she's like, here's a book for you, here's a book for you, here's a book for me. Now we're just gonna throw this book and then moving on to another book. Yeah, yeah. And Harrison, yeah, Harrison actually will sit there and he'll he'll pretend to because he remembers a lot of the books that we've read. We've read them so many times now. Like he'll he can almost recite pout pout fish, like, but he'll sit there and he'll be like, Oh, pout, pout, fish.

SPEAKER_02

Like, you know when people have a spirit animal? Yeah, I have a spirit toddler, and that's Harrison. Yeah, he is very much my vibes.

SPEAKER_01

We're Scorpios, you know. It's like every once in a while, like I like I tell her something, and I'm like, This is your child. Like, yeah. And that's that's part of the problem, right? Is that when she's up early, my plan to read also goes out the window because I can't even like really touch my book. I have to like hold it up like way above me so she can get it. And the whole time she'll be like, MAM, like grabbing onto my arm.

SPEAKER_00

And you're like, yeah, still future Susie, aka September Susie, and the rest of the year will probably have a problem. You're gonna shoot up in books, guaranteed. Well, especially if I get Ainsley into daycare part-time.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_02

I gotta do books now. I need to quit my job. So because I will never catch up. I'm screwed.

SPEAKER_01

So that's so my kids have been my slump, but my clients have been my slump. I was obsessed with Clash of Claws. So I had both. I was obsessed and slumpy. So upsetting.

SPEAKER_00

I went through like I'm gonna save more of the details for the DNF episode, but I DNF' three books in a row, and that really put me in a slump. I'm just like, is it me? Am I the problem? Or is it just the books are trash? Like, I don't want to. I got like 20% to 30% into each of these books, so quite a like at least a good two hours. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And they're garbage. I haven't DNF'd any in a while. Wait you, besides just friends and Nora. Nora, yeah, Nora.

SPEAKER_02

Where do you find you read the most this month?

SPEAKER_01

On the couch, couch or my walking pad, bed for me. No, if I if I there's so many times like this month, especially that I'm like, I'm just gonna go lie in bed, I'll read for 30 minutes, and literally like yeah, your Kindle's on your face. Yeah, or I literally wake up in the middle of night going, Where's my Kindle?

SPEAKER_00

Do you find like if you stay on the couch for like let's say you don't go to bed at your usual time, but you're on the couch reading, yeah. Do you find that you can stay awake when you're on the couch? But as soon as you go to bed, it's like yeah, yeah, that's me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I but I have to be really, really tired to fall asleep on the couch these days. But yeah, like as soon as I'm in bed, like it's it's game over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There. Not to mention, like, you've got I've got like my Kindle stand up there, and I find like then I'm not even holding it anymore.

SPEAKER_00

I'd almost I my clickers and stuff are downstairs by my walking chair. Oh so I can like walk and then click my page. So I haven't had it, I've been too lazy to go grab it and then bring it up the two flights. Yeah, so um I've been holding my Kindle like this, and I hit my face.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and then I so I've done that a couple times too, because I was like, I don't put it on the stand because I'm like, oh I I want to actually read. So I was like, I'm like force myself to like hold it, so I'm not just lying there all cozy, just going, that's me. I like go under the covers and I'm just like staring above me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've got the ambiance like going from my projector, and then I'm like passed out. Well, and that yeah, the and that's I've had it like twice where it's like bonk. Yeah, and then I wake up and Nate's like just hovering over me while I'm sleeping.

SPEAKER_02

Like, like, really? All right, let's do a lightning round. Okay. Everything we read, just quick summary of them. Yeah, Beth, do you want to go since you're shorter, we'll be waiting here with Susie for a longer time. I'm at the same.

SPEAKER_01

So the first book I finished in April was Clash of Claws. Perfect. Which I gave five stars. Recommend. Okay. Um brief premise. It's like zodiac but better. Perfect. Uh the vibe is zodiac but better.

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, zodiac needed to be. That's all you need to know. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If you like zodiac, read this. If you didn't like zodiac, read this. So basically, school setting. School setting, but it's more why choose. So rather than like everyone's kind of paired off amongst the four guys, it's the four guys with one girl. Perfect. Love that. No bullying. And you gave it five stars. I gave it five stars. Perfect. Then I did Hot for Slayer. Yep. Oh, and Clash of Clauses by Elizabeth Deere. Hot for Slayer, Allie Hazelwood.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I get 4.25.

SPEAKER_02

Allie Hazelwood, didn't she do Bride and She did there was a movie. Oh, is it that? Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um My Mate. My mate. That one is there's a Slayer who has been pretty much contracted by the Guild of Slayers to kill this one vampire. She's female. Um, and through the centuries, they run into each other, but it's like haven't seen each other for like 50 years or something like that. So like there's quite a long time in between them, but they're constantly like just circling one another around the globe. So she's kind of like she hops around and he kind of trails her, trails behind her. Um, but she's not, she's kind of a culin-like vampire. She only kills if they're bad. Yeah. Okay. You said this book would be better read around Halloween, I think. Yeah. When you were telling me about it. Just because just the vibes. So it's it kind of centers around Halloween too. So, like, for example, so for okay, so they they start fighting, something happens, he gets knocked out, and then he has amnesia. Oh, okay. Yeah, and but there's all these things because he's not normal, like he's been built to kill vampires. Um, and then she's a vampire. So neither of them are normal humans, and so he like there's just certain things that are not human about him, and he's like, What?

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna read that and I'm gonna read that.

SPEAKER_01

It's on my Kindle, and then I got rid of it. So that'll be and then and then she's trying to explain to him.

SPEAKER_02

That's an October read.

SPEAKER_01

Because she can't be like, You're a slayer and I'm a vampire because he has amnesia, he has no idea like what's what. And so she's like, Well, she's like, in your line of work, um, you're pest control, and in my line of work, I love them. I love I love insects.

unknown

Hilarious.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, and and he's like, What? That's hilarious. There's definitely a little bit of like comedic relief with it. It was it's a very fast read, it's like hundred like a hundred pages. Perfect. Um, I really enjoyed it though. Yeah, how many readings? 4.25. That's high. Perfect. Honestly, I find I sometimes books lose points when I really enjoy the book, and they've only given me a little teeny tiny book. That's fair. It's not long enough. Yeah, I think they lose at least 0.25 of a star. Okay. Next book. We have Corrupt by Penelope Douglas, Devil's Night number one. This guy and his three best friends are known as the four horsemen, and they kind of run the school and the town. Yeah. She's obsessed with him, and then his brother is obsessed with her. Their families are friends. They have this day that they guess they come and they collect like kids from school, and they pretty much like it's just mayhem on Devil's Night. And they kind of like party and everyone lets loose and gets a little crazy, orgies, and then they go and they each do a day a devil's night prank. Okay. And they each kind of have to do it. So she gets kind of tagged along with this, but then the night ends with three of them going to jail and then going to prison.

SPEAKER_02

Right up my alley.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Fast forward to now, they come out of prison and they blame her for why they went to prison. And so you're pretty much going back and forth between the now and what happened.

SPEAKER_00

I love when they do that. Yeah, you too.

SPEAKER_01

So that was very good. I gave it four stars. Uh, it is over 500 pages, so it's a good chunk of a book. Yeah. So tick. And then my latest finished book was The Awakening with Nora Roberts, which I gave 2.5. I've been waiting for this. I can't wait. Um, and my review on it was that I will not be talking about this book. You have to come back for the episode.

SPEAKER_00

I did see that, and I was like, I can't wait to hear your thoughts. I know I'm excited about that.

SPEAKER_01

And then yeah, and then I'm on for listen for the lie, which I will finish tomorrow. But so far I am very much enjoying it.

SPEAKER_02

Isn't like sarcasm? I liked the sarcasm better in this book, though.

SPEAKER_00

It was more like balanced, I think, rather than just like, okay, come back. To me, it was very natural sarcasm, not weird.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

Or it was dark humor, but like balance.

SPEAKER_01

Appropriate. Yeah. Yeah. Even sometimes, like, she would kind of say it and I was like, was that sarcastic? And then she would say something like, Do not get sarcasm, and like, oh, that was sarcastic. Okay. She was talking to you.

SPEAKER_02

So good. Okay, Cass. So good. Do you want me to go to go first?

SPEAKER_00

Because I only have Yeah, I'm gonna take a while. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

She's gonna be both of those. Just keep rubbing it in, Susie. Okay. My first book that I read this month was Sweet Obsession by Harmony West. Um, basically, it's a dark stalker rom com. This girl, she is like an escort, basically.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And she comes home one night and this guy is sleeping on her couch, and she threatens to kill him, and he's wasted and throws up in her bathroom basically every Everywhere and long story short, they end up fake dating to prove to his family something, and then they end up falling in love. Um that was my first one. I gave it 3.5 stars, which is low for me. There was just a couple things where I was kind of like, but it was a good, quick, fun read. I read for the vibes, the rom-com aspect. Yeah. And then my second one was Carival by Stephanie Garber. I gave it 4.5 stars. That was a really good read. You're welcome for that. Yeah. I'm gonna read the I'm gonna try and read Legendary. Legendary next month and do like each book the following month. Because I get burnout when I read too many books in a series back to back.

SPEAKER_00

That's fair.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't mean either. Unless it's like 10, 12 books, and I'm like, no. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I just I want to keep it because I think Carval is about. Oh my gosh. Susie can probably explain it better than me.

SPEAKER_00

It's basically about um this girl.

SPEAKER_02

She's been writing to the master of the legend. Legend. Yeah. The master of Carval her entire life, basically. Um, and then finally he writes her back and invites her to come. Like participate in the Carval, which is like a like a competition almost. Some sort of it's a very interesting competition, though. It's not like the trials or no, it's not like trials. It like, I don't know. It's very cool, it's a very cool aspect. So if you like that kind of stuff, definitely give it a read. Because and then she meets this guy and she doesn't know if she can trust him. And legend is actually someone that nobody's ever seen. He's only shown his true self to like certain people. Yeah. So definitely you'd probably really like it too, actually. It's closed door. There's like nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Which is really nice. If I have a month, I'm gonna read more than four books. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Add it to that list. Um, so yeah, that one was cool. It was a good romanticy vibe. Then I read Listen for the Lie, our book club of the month, book for April by Amy Tintera. I gave it five stars. I thought the whole concept was really cool. It's about this girl who is accused of murdering her best friend and she has no idea what happened that night. Like her memory's gone. Her memory's completely gone because she also was attacked. And yeah, without spoiling anything for Beth, because obviously she's not done it, um, there's a podcast host that comes to the town where it happened in and he begins interviewing the town. Yeah. And it's just chaos. I like him. Ben? Yeah, he's really good. And apparently, our book club girls or fam, our book club fam, they said the audiobook is really cool because when the podcast part comes on, it's read like an actual podcast. So I kind of want to check that out. Yeah. All right. And my last book of the month is Game On by Novessa Allen. I gave it four stars. It's the final book in the Into Darkness trilogy. It follows Tyler, who is Josh's roommate in book one. Yep. And Stella, who is a tattoo artist. And he's after revenge with her family for something that happened years ago.

SPEAKER_01

Wow, I would not have figured Tyler for a revenge guy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And he's blonde, unfortunately. But this is the quote.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So it was good. A good light-hearted, dark rom-com. Anyways, Susie, hit us with your long list of achievements over there.

SPEAKER_00

I'll keep it short and brief. Okay. Okay. I'm not gonna spoil the carbon ones for you, but my first book I read in April was Legendary. I gave it four stars, and it's the second book in the carbon series, and it follows Tella and Legend primarily. Yep. That's where I'll leave that. Do you like book one or two better? Honestly, I liked book two better just because I like their storyline better. Okay. Then, even higher rating. This one was Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It was 4.75, and it was like a sci-fi comedy. Well, it's the what the movie's.

SPEAKER_01

So my aunt read the book and then she went and saw the movie, and she said they did change things in the movie, but it has the same, gives you the same feeling that the book does.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I was like giddy with happiness. Just like the watch it? No. Oh, during the book. So I want to go see the movie. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She enjoyed both, she said. She's like, they're different, but same emotion was brought out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's just such a cute relationship between whatever the main guy's name. I forget. Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling, the guy that's his character. Yeah, his character. And Rocky, which is like this rock alien guy. They form a way of communicating. They are trying to save their planets together. And it's just a really wholehearted book. It was just great. I really loved it.

SPEAKER_02

Heard good things about it. Yeah, it was. I have a few clients that have read it and they loved it.

SPEAKER_00

I typically I didn't think I'd understand a lot of it because there is like a lot of science uh definitions and terminology and stuff in here, but it was actually quite easy to understand for someone who's not that smart. Nice. So perfect. I like that one a lot. The next one was oh, I guess quite possibly my favorite book of the series so far, Finale, which I gave 4.75 as well. Also follows Tella and Legend, and then there's um Scarlet's point of view as well. So we get that. Next one was Death Row by Frieda McFadden, which was just a short little thriller novella. I finished it in one sitting, but it was three stars. Like I wasn't really expecting.

SPEAKER_02

Probably because it was AI.

SPEAKER_00

She doesn't use AI, remember? She said it. And she's super smart. She is very smart.

SPEAKER_02

She is maybe she's just really good at pumping out. She is the AI. Yeah. Look at this tanning job here. Yeah, that's a nice toe. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Feet finder go off topic.

SPEAKER_02

Stop looking at your feet. Sorry. Oh, I just stretched out because my feet were falling asleep.

SPEAKER_01

So I was like, oh, well. She's got a white foot with a show the camera.

SPEAKER_00

I did a bad job at self-tanner. You can donate to uh hello at pottospeeds.com to our podcast for that to get me an exfoliating scroll photo right there.

SPEAKER_02

Feetfinder.

SPEAKER_00

Hit her up.

SPEAKER_02

There's gotta be a market for that, right?

SPEAKER_00

Next book was another little novella. It's called Everybody's Favorite Guy by Catherine Center. It was okay. It was 2.5 stars. Although I do have a quote from there that I'm not reading today, but I did have one highlighted quote that I thought was nice about grief. The next one, Voice of the Ocean, was by Kelsey and Piche. Oh, you struggled with that one. Uh at the beginning I did, but then I really got into it like at the end because it was becoming more of like an original story. Whereas like the first bit of it was like a scene-by-scelling of the Little Mermaid from the point of her finding Eric on the on the beach. On the no on the ship. Oh, on the ship. So it starts off with the ship scene, and it's basically like the exact same play as Ariel and Eric. Um and the guy even was described in the same manner. And there was a dog. Of course. So it's like, okay, this is very similar. A little too similar. But it did get more original as the story went on. But basically, it's like this siren, she is the princess of the ocean, basically, and she is part of this like chorus, which goes and kills humans, basically, like oars them in with their song, and their song is basically their weapon. And she doesn't want to go with the green, so she goes against it and is like, Yeah, I uh I'm not gonna do that. So she saves the human from the chorus' attack. Yeah, they fall in love. They say that's it. Then the next one, Listen for the Why by Amy Tintero, which we've talked about, is a 4.75. That was really good. Yeah, you guys already described it, so I'm not gonna go into that. Not gonna go into that one. That was a DNF. All right.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you are you not gonna say the name?

SPEAKER_00

No, I'm saving it for the episode.

SPEAKER_02

Saving all the juice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, saving all the tea, so come back. Then one after that that I finished was Tempest and Tea Leaves, which is the Charmed Leaf Legacy book one by Rachel Morgan. It was Chef's Kiss. Cozy fantasy. Cozy fantasy. The banter was top notch, the yearning was top notch. Like I've never read a book that had such strong yearn. Yearning, yearning yearn. Yep. The yearn was thick. Yep. It was thick. I was like, and my the first part of my review says, ah, what a splendid way to end April. Hilarious. Oh yeah. Limited space. So good. And then the last one I just did was Um You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone by A. R. Tour. I read that this morning, just trying to figure out where I was gonna go next in my book Journey. And past three stars. Yeah. Yeah. Little quick novella. Yeah. And it was like really good. Basically, this girl, she's really rich. I won't spoil it too much. And her husband doesn't work. And uh he like resents her for it, and she he like doesn't initiate anything, so she plans like this little like impromptu, like fake kidnapping. Oh, and basically he doesn't care. Oh, and she set up cameras to like watch his reaction, and she's like hiding somewhere, and he plays golf on his phone. Like amazing, yeah. So you can read that. It's okay, there's a lot more to it, but that's the main premise of how that starts. That's it, guys. That's all I read. Amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Let's do a segment where we just discuss favorites, not favorites, best and worst. Yeah, the best and worst. All right, which was your best book of the month, Susie.

SPEAKER_00

It was a tie, actually, but I would say the one I really enjoyed the most was actually um the tea leaves. That it's a tie between the tea leaves and the tempest finale. And finale you knew it, finale, yeah. Yeah. I just really love the vibes of both of those. Fair. Yeah. Well, you had them rated the same, so yeah. Yeah, it's true. No guys remembered that. You're paying attention, unlike Cass. She was too focused on her toe.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, it was it's very distracting. It's very upsetting looking.

SPEAKER_00

You know, there's a so there's a fix for that.

SPEAKER_02

Wear socks. Well, here's the thing. Don't tan your feet. I didn't have time for socks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Uh Clash of Claws. Knew it. So it's your favorite. I think even with Listen for the Lie, it's still gonna be Clash of Claws.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Mine was Listen for the Lie. That was good. It just wasn't my favorite. My favorite. Yeah, out of what I read. This yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. My four books. Most disappointing that wasn't a DNF.

SPEAKER_02

I actually feel like this one might be really good. I'm only 10%.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I thought you said that one's gonna be most disappointing.

SPEAKER_02

No, this will be like probably up there with the. That's not what she asked, Cass.

SPEAKER_01

What? Yeah, what was your most disappointing that wasn't a DNF?

SPEAKER_00

Everyone's favorite guy, which was the short story. It was nah. But I wasn't expecting a lot, but it was disappointing.

SPEAKER_02

It was like I would say sweet obsession was my most disappointing. But I didn't really have high hopes for it. So take with take that with what you will, however that saying goes. I just dickered it. You butchered it. Yeah. As it should be. Oh, that would have been. No, wait, did we read that in April? Oh, yeah, we did it. Yeah, we did in April that you didn't DNF. That we didn't DNF, though. Yeah. Perfect. Most unhinged moment.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, in Clash of Claws, two of the guys in the group are brothers. And the one brother holds her up. They're outside, and the while the other one goes down on her.

SPEAKER_02

Uh for me, uh me. I have one. Uh game on, Novessa Allen. Uh Tyler and Stella and her bestie AJ. Oh, I forgot to mention Tyler's bisexual. Um, they have a threesome, and um they are in each crevice hole. Um, and they talk about how they can feel each other's rubbing through the skin. Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Unhinged. Yeah, that was a good one. I could have gone my whole day without hearing about that. Thank you. You're welcome. You're welcome. Wow. I don't have one, guys. I read clean books.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have an unhinged moment. She reads. Right. Well, then the most boring moment.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, if I was going to do unhinged, I would say the twist in that book you're reading. Okay. You know, it's not a sexual unhinged moment, but it was unhinged, like bisexual. It was just that was just falling of all the people.

SPEAKER_02

That was just what I read this month.

SPEAKER_01

Like if we did what like we did this, what was it last month or the month before when we did um oh the one with Jet. The most unhinged moment for me would be the pill situation.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yeah. Most boring. I'd still say the everyone's favorite guy. It was just like, I don't know. It wasn't a moment, it was just the whole book. It was just I read it because it was so short and I wasn't gonna DNF like a short book. Fair. Um, this was after my like three DNFs in a row thing. So I was like, I need to catch up for wasting my time. Yeah. Um, so I would say it was just there was nothing special about it. I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think I had a boring moment in any of the books I read.

SPEAKER_01

You did. Yeah, you did. So I'd say it's a tie between Clanlands as a whole, because I'm still working on it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and the the supposed romance in The Awakening.

SPEAKER_02

There's no I'm so excited to discuss this. Like beyond excited.

SPEAKER_01

It's just gonna be a one-decided discussion. I'm gonna talk about it, and you're not gonna talk about it. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um favorite character in the books that you read this month. Jax by far in the Carval series. He's not in Car of all, but he's in Legendary and Finale. And then he's I'm reading Once Upon a Heart because he's one of the main characters in it, and I'm not done with him yet.

SPEAKER_03

Fair.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, he is blonde, but he cries blood, and he's Prince of Hearts, and he's cruel, and he's everything I like, and he he's very wants to love, but he doesn't know how Draco-esque. Yeah, yeah. Draco and Jax are the only blonde men that I'll ever have in my book boyfriend list. Ever.

SPEAKER_01

What about you, Beth? I honestly I think uh Lucy might be. She's mine too. Yeah, yeah. She's my favorite.

SPEAKER_02

I just really I just really is just vibing. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah, okay. Book that you couldn't put down, listen for the lie for me. Clash of Claws. I feel like that's given now. I'd say listen for the why as well. Um I find that with a good thriller, they're hard to put down because you just wanna you wanna know who done it.

SPEAKER_00

It's true. I'm just trying to see like how many days I read that one. I finished that one in two days, actually. So I'd say that's probably the only one that I couldn't really put down.

SPEAKER_02

Let me see when I finished it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Tempest and Tea Weaves, as much as I enjoyed it, it took me like a week to get through it for some reason. I just didn't have a lot of time to read it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it took me seven days to finish Listen for the Live, but my dog ended up having emergency surgery, so that put a damper on the reading process. Just a wee. Yeah. Just a wee bit. Okay. Main character energy book of the month, Lucy for me. Yeah. So kind of goes with the same favorite character. I'd say Lucy too, then. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Totally. Uh book you almost DNF'd but didn't.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I didn't have any of those. Oh. I DNF'd any book that I wanted to DNF. Yeah, I only DNF'd the one, but I didn't feel like I needed to for any of the other ones.

SPEAKER_00

Nora.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, sh it was.

SPEAKER_00

It was. Any books that we have disagreed on. This month? Yeah, like about our ratings or whatever. I think we've all we've only read a few similar books, and I feel like we've got to.

SPEAKER_02

I think we all agreed on Nora, basically. No, you and I DNF'd it. She ish. Ish. She she's just being stubborn, but she hated it. Yeah. Um, I think Beth hasn't. I hate it.

unknown

Beth.

SPEAKER_01

Just I just admit it. I know. No. I will not admit it. It's more complex than we think. I'm also I'm also not just talking about this because Susie also DNF'd the other one, and I'm very sad. Yeah. I haven't started the other one yet, but it's on my PFN. I have a feeling I'm just not gonna like her writing. I don't think I think that's part of the issue for you guys. Because it it's funny because we I have had quite a few of our members who've reached out about Nora. And actually it's funny because Ilua has tagged me in a lot of comments that have to do. She's like, you should talk to Beth. But I will say that a lot of people I've talked to, they've been reading Nora for a while. So I think it's it's a reading style. I think it's a reading style that we've been used to. I do think it's an older type of writing. That would make sense. Oh, she is 75. Rather, I think well, and ever those things all kind of change, but I mean like we said in a pre previous episode, she is 75, and she does have a formula that she definitely works with.

SPEAKER_00

It's not working.

SPEAKER_01

And I wouldn't be surprised if she's just like, this is what works for me.

SPEAKER_00

She's not working anymore, Nora. So just retire. Her time has passed. I do think she needs to retire.

SPEAKER_02

She very much needs to retire. But I think when you finish listening for the lie, I think you'll agree with Susie and I. Oh, 100%.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Yeah. I'm already I'm loving it. Like I said, I'm gonna be done tomorrow.

SPEAKER_02

Did anyone influence someone else to read something this month? For me, it was Carvel by Stephanie Garber. Susie influenced me. It was a good one.

SPEAKER_01

No, if anything, I've been pressured to DNF this month. I haven't yet. Clan Lands. It might be coming.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, please. Or at least a PFN. So it's no.

SPEAKER_01

If it goes on the PFN, it's never going to be back on the paused forever.

SPEAKER_02

It's a DNF, Beth. There's only paused for now and did not finish. And you're not pausing it.

SPEAKER_01

There's only so many acronyms. It'd be like a paused for longer. No. But if I decided to come back to it later.

SPEAKER_00

Then you that'd be different. But it's a DNF. That is true, no matter if you're pick it up now. Like wait a second.

SPEAKER_02

Her reading skills, her reading habits, if she actually enjoyed it, it'd be done.

SPEAKER_00

It's only 300 and something pages, Beth. You need to accept it.

SPEAKER_02

So boring, right? It's boring, right?

SPEAKER_00

Just say it's boring. Drab. You watched the show, right? So I didn't watch the show, actually. You bought the book, right? Yeah, I did buy the book. So you supported your favorite actor. And you don't have to read it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It's not his fault. We know he's spectacular in everything else he does. That's true. Yeah. So that's true. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We need to fly over to do his distillery. We do.

SPEAKER_00

I'd say Beth influenced Rich to read Nora, but I didn't finish it, like she said. Other than that, that's the only thing I've been influenced to read from anyone. Perfect.

SPEAKER_02

Ongoing buddy reads or series updates? Uh, we plan on reading the Plated Prisoners series. Guilds and Yeah. We just haven't gotten to it yet. Maybe next month. It's on our buddy list. Well, it was supposed to be this month, but because Nora was such a flop, we had to do another book.

SPEAKER_00

Postpone it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and I think we wanted a non-fantasy too. Yeah, so yeah, we did. We're alternating. We're gonna do fantasy, and then we're gonna alternate with a different genre. Just to break it up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Cass is like, I have fantasy and I have thriller. That is all like there's dark one. There's dystopian.

SPEAKER_02

There's dystopians. I like those.

SPEAKER_01

No, but like I think your brain was just like, or a thriller.

SPEAKER_00

Always thrillers. Beneath the prequel to Conform is out now. Ooh. So I want to read that too. Did it just oh the prequel, right? Yeah. Beneath. Okay. We can read that. So we've got that that I want to read. And then uh Fury Bound is coming out. Yeah. Yeah. The second book of Dire Bound. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I was just gonna say, I feel like we are about to enter because there's a few books coming out in May, June, July that are this like the second book.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because uh Spellcaster's second book is coming out soon.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I do have a list actually.

SPEAKER_02

We got we got stacked some good books coming our way. Books coming out. So stay tuned. We've got a couple good books coming for Book Club of the Month picks. Firebound comes out May 5th.

SPEAKER_01

Fury Weatherstone College Night Witch, which is the second book of Spellcaster, comes out June 23rd. Nightshade, the Sorrow Song University Daybreak comes out July 28th. And then the next actually book and we are all guilty here in the North Falls series is coming out in August.

SPEAKER_02

Ooh, perfect.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

So we have a good year of characters.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Perfect.

SPEAKER_00

Any reading goals that you guys have for this month? 11. 11 books. Yep. You're not gonna make it. But I can have there's three days left of this month. Oh, this month. No, for May. I was talking about for May. Oh, okay. Yeah, 11 for May. This month my goal is six. Nice.

SPEAKER_02

Mine is five.

SPEAKER_00

My goal is gonna be twelve because yours is eleven.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna try for six next month, too. You know what, Susie?

SPEAKER_01

Piss off. Yeah, piss off. She wins. Piss off? You piss off. She's winning at something, and all of a sudden she just turns into an asshole. No, she's insufferable.

SPEAKER_00

This is why I don't play competitive games.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she's terrible. We had we have game family games nights, and they intentionally try to make me mad. Yeah, we do. We try and get games that'll piss Susie off the most. I hate games. So Uno No Mercy.

SPEAKER_01

I would hate games nights.

SPEAKER_02

Uno no mercy. She just I lost my mind. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Get out of my house. Like that was the kind of energy that I was emanating. Kind of like it.

SPEAKER_02

It's so good.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe I'd come for that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you should. Do we have the most anticipated book to read in May?

SPEAKER_00

Fury Bound, I'd say. I want to read Dire Bound so then I can be prepared for Fury Bound. I'm excited for you.

SPEAKER_01

You should do also excited for our next book club. It doesn't count.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it does. No, it doesn't. Fable counts it, so it counts.

SPEAKER_01

It does not count. We just read Dire Bound not that long ago.

SPEAKER_00

Last year. It was last year. It wasn't that long.

SPEAKER_02

Anyways. Counts any time. I'm excited for our next book club pick of the month book for May too, which I'm not talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you won't know.

SPEAKER_02

You won't know until we let you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it would already it would already be May when this comes out.

SPEAKER_02

When this comes out?

SPEAKER_01

It'll be May 4th.

SPEAKER_02

That's true, yeah. Oh, so like we can tell we can tell the we can tell the people.

SPEAKER_01

What is what is the good book of the month, Cassandra?

SPEAKER_02

It is. Hold on, let me bring this up so I get the author. So I get the author right. Can't do that. Okay, now I've read This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Yonah Orilona. I butcher it, I'm sorry. Andrews. It's very it's a very It's a fantasy. Perfect. Yeah. It it's described as Outlander Meets Game of Thrones. So very excited about that.

SPEAKER_01

I was like sitting here being like, that one doesn't sound familiar, but. That's why. Yep. It is, it's actually it's Ilona. Ilona. Okay, I had it right. Well. So actually, take yours plus mine. I had I said Ilona, so it's Ilona. And I said, I thought it was Iona. We're the worst. So together. We got there.

SPEAKER_02

That thing is like Jacquan? No, Jaquan? You mean Jacqueline? Have you seen that going around? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's Klee and Peel, I think that did it.

SPEAKER_02

Is it? Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Hilarious. So I think I told you guys about that one video that I saw that it was like Audiobook Readers. No, it was like a fantasy author. It's like sitting there. It's like, her name is Kaylee. And then it's like Kaylee. But then she starts changing it. So it's like it goes from like regular, like annoying. Yeah. And then like starts adding just different so many letters and things. So it's silent letters. Yeah. So annoying. Yeah. Adds this like silent G H on the end, like a weird EI over here.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes when I do that, like when I read books that have names like that, I'll give them nicknames in my head so I can just read it easier. Because I can't, I can't do it. You are now known as Kiki. Kiki. Yeah, Kiki in my head. Do you love me? Are you writing? Closing question for you guys. What book should we absolutely add to our May TBR? Let us know. Or just TBR in Calm's. But yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Lines beloved.

SPEAKER_01

Ready? I'm ready. I thought you wrote it down. No. She marked it. I put this in here. And this is the other one that I was looking at. I liked this one. What? No, Jesus Lucy. I'm not blackmailing you. I really did like the books. You read romance novels? Well, no, these were my first. But maybe I should read more because they were very exciting. I like the one with the couple that pretended to be married best. Why? Apparently, I enjoy a good fake marriage trope. This is something I've just just discovered about myself recently. I barely resist the urge to laugh, but my lips twitch. Fuck. No. Why did you read my books? I was interested, and I did consider putting on the podcast. Honestly, read some passages, but I can't really see how it's relevant. Paige, my assistant, said that putting it on there would just be a dick move, and I had to agree. I like your assistant. She's smarter than me.

SPEAKER_00

I loved him. Ben was good too. He was really good. Yeah, he's such a vibe. Go ahead, Susan. Mine is from Tempest and Tea Weaves by Rachel Morgan, page 316. Everything you feel, he whispered roughly, his breath mingling with hers. I feel a hundredfold. You haunt my dreams, my every waking moment. When you enter a room, all else fades to shadow. Every minute away from you is agony, and the mere thought of you with another, his voice caught. It is a torment beyond enduring.

SPEAKER_02

So good. My heart pitter pattern. Pitterin patterns. That's what we should do. Lines that made our hearts pitter pattern. Ooh. Pitter patter. Let's get at her. Points. Pitter patter plots. No. I'll work on it. Mine is from Hunted by the Demon's Vow, page 19. The black raven had randomly appeared about a year ago. He was perched on my windowsill one night and then returned for four days straight. That's when my dumbass decided to give him a few bites of fish. Since then, he hasn't left. At least I assumed it was he a he. I didn't know for sure. I hadn't exactly gotten intimate enough to check. Not that I knew the anatomy of a bird anyway, but I decided he had to be male because he was always around, but never helpful. So I called him Neo.

SPEAKER_00

Facts. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Loved it.

SPEAKER_00

To talk about men that aren't helpful, just to end the podcast, I was carrying down this one here, a camera, the box, and my phone on top of the box. He watched you do it. He's just ditto-dallying here, and I'm like going one step at a time, like dropping my box with my phone on it, hitting like not being able to walk properly. I get to the end, he's like, Are you struggling? I'm like, Yeah, obviously.

SPEAKER_02

Like we live in an open concept. You can see.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, that's what I wanted to tell you guys. Yesterday, Zach told me if I needed a break, I could go grocery shopping on my own. Wow. How nice. This is exactly pretty much how I said it. I just like did the Zach do better. Do better. Yeah, and not only that, but he I went to the basement to fold laundry and I was like, I just need like five minutes myself. I was down there for 30 seconds. I had just pressed play on my audiobook. You're an audiobook girl now. I know. Yeah, but I just pressed play. What are you listening to? I'm still I'm finishing lights out. I have like the last like 30 minutes. And I was like, I just want to finish this. I want to fold the laundry, keep working on laundry. I just need, I just need five minutes myself. And like not even 30 seconds exig. So, and I'm just like, go away. I was like, please leave. And he's like, Well, I just came down to talk to you. I was like, Don't. I don't want to talk to anyone. Yeah, I was like, especially you. I said, I was like, I've just come down here for like five minutes. And he's like, Well, I just came down to tell you that if you needed a break, you could go grocery shopping on your own. And I was like, Wow, whoa, what a privilege.

SPEAKER_00

So nice. How lovely. All right, Cass, give us a uh Tyler being unhelpful story. There's so many.

SPEAKER_02

Um the most recent one. How does one choose? Oh, today. Today I haven't seen him much, so he hasn't had a chance yet today. He doesn't have a chance to irritate me. Every day. Ooh, I have one. Ooh, tell me. About my husband? Yeah. Ooh, tell me. How about I've probably forgotten.

SPEAKER_01

How about the time when you couldn't trust him with your dog who just had surgery? So you had to have your mom come over to watch your dog.

SPEAKER_02

That's a perfect example. Nate and I talked about that. And you know what I know why? He brings my dog home from surgery, okay? Literally fresh out of surgery. Vett goes, please don't let him jump. Perfect. Easy task. No. Brings the dog inside, okay? Comes in. I'm working. I do lashes. My dog loves to cuddle with my lash clients. So he is used to jumping up on the lash chair and cuddling with them. He lets Griffin in the room, off leash, and what does he do? Jumps up and then jumps down. Yeah. Two minutes after leaving the vet's office. I'm like, Lord. This is exactly why.

SPEAKER_00

And this is why you need your mom. I rest my case. I mean, Cass wins. That was Wednesday. Although your story was up there too. That was hilarious. That was pretty good. Mine was more of an inconvenience. Yours was just like the audacity. Yeah. And Cass is like, yeah, just plain tisk.

SPEAKER_01

No, no words. Unbelievable. But disappointment.

SPEAKER_02

He's been fine now. It's just like that first day. I know Griffin is like so weird when he comes out of anesthesia because he's had 7,000 surgeries. Um, my dog is a lemon. And your dog is by don't have a dog. Yeah. No, fair, fair. And he just does not do well. And Ty is a man. Like they're not super on top of things. On top of things and attentive. Like he's he he's he's fine. He'll be fine. He'll figure it out. I'm like, he's clearly very not fine. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00
