SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the ADB Podcast, where we talk all things dirty with your host, Mitch Lee. Okay, guys, it's we uh we have another podcast. We've got another ProMex wrap. It's uh round seven at Condow that we're wrapping up, and uh this is the second last one you're gonna hear from us for this season. We've got one next weekend as well, obviously, to finalise it all. Uh and with me, as always, I have Danny Hamm and Jeff Briggs. Guys, thanks for coming on the pod.

SPEAKER_03

It's a pleasure. Good to uh get these ones out straight after the race.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, happy to be here and talk about the action from the weekend. Yeah, Monday night is always fresh, especially for Hammy was there calling the race. So it's always good to have Danny there because uh we get a little bit of inside knowledge that we otherwise wouldn't get. Uh before we start though, I will just thank our sponsors Dunlop. Uh Dunlop for sponsoring the show. Uh, we're actually gonna do some testing with the MX34 next. Uh uh Brixy's been doing a lot with the AT82 and he's been loving it. And um actually we stuck something up on social media the other day and it went gangbusters for some strange reason. It was just a photo of the little front of the um hard and soft arrows on the sidewall of the tyre, and uh you sent through Briggsy, and I think a lot of people were unaware that you can flick that AT-82 around and get different traction on different terrain, which is pretty cool. So, yeah, big thanks to Dunlop for helping us out. Uh Connondale. Now, coming into this round, we knew it was going to be natural terrain style motocross, which is pretty cool. I think uh last um last podcast, Hammy, you said it might have been 2019-ish that we were last there pre pre-COVID. Um the track looked exactly how I expected it. A little bit, little tinge of grass on that start straight early on. Um, looked like they produced a pretty good track. I mean, it's it always looks stunning at on TV. I feel like Connordale. It's green grass everywhere, the sun comes through the trees really nicely, you get these really you know beautiful colours. What did the writers think of the track, Hammy?

SPEAKER_03

What I heard, uh, a lot of people really did enjoy it. It was very well put together. There's a whole new um um team that's taken over at Contendale now with that club. Um, so it's a new young breed that is is in there, and I think they did it pretty good with the prep itself. They did a lot of ripping before we even got to ride it. It was very chunky. It was it was a lot of water in it. There hasn't been a lot of rain up there, it's quite dry everywhere. So they did everything right as far as getting the amount of water into it. They turned it over, sealed it off a little bit before we actually rode it, um, just because of how chunky it was. They ran some machines around just to make sure that we didn't go losing our front wheel somewhere. Uh, and then after we finished, they got back into it, threw more water in it, ripped back open, got the power tills onto it to try and break it up. And I think it really delivered an incredible track. I I liked the way that they prepped it for the fact that you know, we're not going this stupid deep, we're able to move around, and look what we get. We get good racing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it looked like some of the best racing we've pretty much had all season. The top four in all the classes essentially just found each other and then stayed within two seconds of each other the whole race. Um, and by the that last 450 moto, there were some corners where they had like three ruts in them, and they looked deep, like really bent over and cranked in and deep and challenging, which is awesome because those top four guys who were out in front, it's really gonna test them. Um, one thing I did notice a lot of ducking. Did that roost? That roost looked nasty.

SPEAKER_03

That roost hurt, man. I've got bruising on me still just from I only did one straight, and this was on purpose. I did one straight, sat in behind hoagues. Uh, it was for the cameras, and that's why I did it. And bloody hell, it hurt. It was it was very painful. And then we heard from Zaka later on. He said that that whole yo-yoing effect of the riders where they fall back, catch back up was to avoid the roost. And it it literally is like being shot with a shotgun. It's just so painful when you're in behind. So um, it's one of these tracks that's very high speed. It didn't get crazy big bumps in it, but it was still rough and it was still chopping and it was still challenging, yeah, and it was a lot faster. And I I found as well, even just in my lap that I did at the start, and it was dead smooth, but the extra pace that we had doing it bought a little bit more intensity to try and go fast around there, which then you start breathing a little bit heavier, you start tightening up a lot more. So I think it's good to have these different styles of tracks. I I just I've hated for so many years that we've gone away from embracing the hard pack, and I think they did a great job on the weekend. Yes, there was a couple of little bits where they got a little bit of dust, you're not going to avoid it, but there was moisture and grip for the majority of the day. I think they did an exceptional job.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I really liked the split lane too. I thought that was a really cool feature, especially when you see some guys go outside wheeling in the like they'd go inside, outside leading into the rollers, and then other guys would go outside, inside, and they double into the rollers. And it was just little things like that. There was a separator, but also were made for good passing opportunities. And like you said, Hemi, like the hard pack bit, there was a bit of dust, but when it makes it so raceable, I'll take that every day. Like it was awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What what were what tires were most of the guys running? Were they still on scoops or no?

SPEAKER_03

Well, look, I didn't go down and look for that. Um, but you'd be an idiot to be on a scoop on that track, honestly. It was not the right choice. The start straight was not loose enough to say a scoop would get you a big advantage, yeah, because then you'd have to have the whole race, and you couldn't really go around for a majority of the track and find anything that was loose enough where a scoop would work. I would be surprised if there was.

SPEAKER_01

I thought I'd seen a photo with a one of our top riders with a scoop on, but maybe that was Moto 1.

SPEAKER_03

So and yeah, what time of the day was that? Yeah, that's the other thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. I could have been qualifying, even yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I really wouldn't think so, but I could be mistaken. I definitely, if it was my choice, there's no way I would be going a scoop. I had perfect traction as it was, so yeah, no choice.

SPEAKER_00

Um, there was it there was a jump out of a left-hand corner that they were scrubbing, and they were almost scrubbing side by side. It had a nice little flat up ramp. I felt like the jumps provided a lot of overtaking opportunities too. They were they could send it off the it was the same kind of section where they'd scrub the first out of out of the left, and they could send the next one into that left-hand corner. It was like a 90-degree corner. So I think they did a really good job at making the even the jumping a passing opportunity. And then the outsides, um, I think it was uh was it Larwood made a wild fast pass around the outside, and Aaron Tanty also made it a pass on the outside um for the lead. So it was cool to see that they could get some flow going and spill their speed through the outside of the corners. Because, as we all know, as you guys pointed out too, Hammy, on the broadcast, that's the big dog move when you can just rail someone on the outside. It's like it's a good confidence booster.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, that's a testament to the track, isn't it? I like the fact that we did have a track that was very similar to the old school tracks. They always do change as when we get up there, but those left rights that lead into it, sometimes it just doesn't work on some tracks, but there it really does. You can really open up the corners, hut back in and set up a pass three corners later because of it. So I think it's an absolute testament to that track in particular, the way it's set up, that you can make these lines work, whether it's inside, outside, as long as you execute it, does work.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. I I think that track as well, Connondale, it has to be on the calendar every year. It's one of our best tracks. And I I actually think True Alvin was the same. I agree, bought some of the best. That the last two rounds have been the best tracks so far this year, for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, um, we had the uh minister for sport tourism or something up there as well, and he was absolutely blown away with what they had. That car park, we have not seen a car park like that at a motocross race anywhere.

SPEAKER_01

The crowd on TV was awesome for an Australian event. Yeah, I was actually blown away. It was good. Yeah, good to see.

SPEAKER_03

We will definitely be back there. Well, I mean, I I don't have a confirmation, no one's told me, but I'd I'd be that'd be crazy not to go back. Yeah, so I agree.

SPEAKER_00

It was a great event. Um now, as well, too. I thought it was worth pointing out, we're gonna get into every class now and who did what, but we had one, was it one, two, three foreigners claiming wins on the weekend. We had two Kiwis, an American, um, obviously Jed uh well and an Aussie taking out Tandy, taking out the um the round itself. But I thought it's kind of cool too. You know, we where everyone at the moment there's a bit there's a lot of talk around whether or not overseas riders should be getting, you know, limited rides here. And you look at what the Aussies are doing in America, and if you look at the uh results from the the weekend racing at Washugal as well, um I think five in the in the 450s, five of the top ten weren't from America, and like two of the top five or one of the top five was. And you know, so this is happening all around the world, and it's cool to think that people are now coming here uh to test themselves against our riders, um, which is awesome too. So let's just start then with the obvious. Actually, I will give you credit, Hammy. Last week after the podcast, we said who you got for Connondale, and you said, watch Nathan Crawford. He's my pick, he's gonna be very fast, he'll be the one to beat. Uh, and you know, it's a bold call coming considering he was on a different brand earlier in the year, he hasn't had much time to set that bike up, but you knew how good he was out there, and he proved it to us. Um, both motos, he was pretty impressive. Second moto, obviously, things didn't quite go to plan. Uh, so I'll give you that one, Hammy. You're spot on with that, mate.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, let me let me just throw something back at you. Um, so we did obviously our intro to the show, where I said something very similar, and then we went and spoke to Nathan Crawford afterwards and said, No, I haven't done much out here. Okay, it's Queenslander, though, right? Yeah, I know, but because it's not um a general ride park, no one can go and ride there, and because the Sunshine State series doesn't really go there either, they don't do a lot. Yeah, he's ridden around there, but it's not as much as I thought maybe he would have. However, it was the hard pack, his style, um, you know, in the home state, I'm sure that all into it and you it just showed that he was definitely one of the fastest guys out there. Yeah, um, and I think he did a great job too, dealing with the pressure that he had applied to him from behind. I think he did an exceptional job. So yeah, hats off to him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Uh all right, we're gonna talk about then the obvious one, which is Jed. Uh, I spoke to Jed today. Uh we I said, look, we won't get you on the podcast tonight because we're just we're gonna wrap up the series and the we want to sit down and chat to Jed for an hour or so. So uh we're gonna get Jed on a podcast probably tomorrow or the next day, depending on his schedule. He's got some stuff to do with some sponsors. So uh, but he just had to run it in that second moto. When he had that little crash in the first moto with his head, he had his foot on the first one, his foot on the foot peg, and he kind of lost it around that left hander. Was that the second moto? That was the first moto. First, yeah. First, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um just got on the gas too hard, too hard.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the rear kind of stepped out, and I think you pointed out, Hammy and Hoags, that that's that new style where they don't really drag that inside leg to potentially prop the bike up. Everyone keeps their foot on the on the bike now. Um, I wonder if there was any moment of like, you don't have to win, you know, you're come on, mate. Even I'm sitting on the edge of my seat going, chilling like Jed, it's very easy to win this title right here at this round if you just stay behind him.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, uh, it would have been playing on his mind, and I'm sure when he did have that small crash, there would have been a small amount of panic at the time. Um, but I mean, realistically, he had that big a gap over everyone else. He was always going to be able to ride back into it as long as he didn't do anything stupid. And a small spin out like that was never going to be that big an issue. Um, I'm sure, yes, it was playing on his mind, but like Hoags has said many times, he's a rider that wants to get out there and win and do it that way. So I'm surprised in the second moto that uh well, I'm not surprised because I thought he did a very smart ride by sitting back there and just waiting to see what happened and if anything would happen. Um I I thought maybe he might have gone to try and get a win, but I think he did the right thing. Just sitting back there, it was very, very smart. He had a buttload of points up his sleeve. He didn't need to do anything stupid, but he still kept himself in the fight. And that's the problem sometimes when not that I've ever won a championship tonight. I've heard secondhand, of course. You can you can get into a point where you start thinking about it too much and you ease off, and then you do something stupid because you're not in the fight and you're not thinking about it. So he's kept himself in the fight the whole time. Um, probably kept his mind off it. I think he actually said that on the podium that he wasn't really thinking about it too much because he was in that fight. Probably the best way to approach it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I think like, you know, even that second moto, you look at the gap back to Todd Waters, I think it was in fifth in that second moto, and it was something like 20 something seconds nearly by the end of it, 30 seconds. So I'm sure in the back of his mind he he knew that if he rode at say 95, 6, 7, 8 percent, which is a you know, maybe a safer speed, he could still he could still kind of run at home in third or fourth and get the result that he needed.

SPEAKER_01

But I I felt like he could have won it, to be honest. Like when he he didn't get the best start second motor, and he caught the the top three pretty quick and then just sort of settled in. Yeah, like he didn't really show any of his proper speed, and it wasn't until the last sort of two laps when Kyle turned it up as well. But I I felt like they were all kind of just sitting in that that zone just where they were comfortable and waiting to see what played out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was it was Aaron Tanty was flying in that I mean the whole all day, but he was flying in that second moto, and then for Kyle Webster to come out of nowhere in those like last two or three laps and show, you know, I I felt like that would have been so vindicating for Kyle because all season he's had some some you know ups and downs. He's had the the crash where he could only ride once between rounds in a month. Yeah, big shoulder in America. He's had so many setbacks this year, and um, I feel like that last round was a chance for him to go, don't forget how fast I am. Like I'm a MX two-time MX and Nations winner. I've won uh I'm a two-time Pro MX winner. Um, you know, and so yeah, he kind of was able to run down Tanty, who's also a Pro M X, you know, champion. Um so yeah, that was fast. Uh but yeah, Jed, I mean, all congratulations to him. What a season. He's he's it was so impressive, you know. Rarely did it look like he was gonna let it slip this year. And and we're talking about Kyle having an up and down season this year. Well, that was Jed last year, you know, after that crash in Canberra, I think off the top of my head. Um practice crash, yeah. Yeah, it's before Canberra. Uh so uh you know, you you f you feel like roles almost reversed a little bit this year, and Jed just had such a perfect clean run. You you got you gotta look at how many rounds he dropped up until this round where you could tell he he kind of maybe took it a bit easier, especially. Um yeah, just such an impressive run. And like that that that Honda Yamaha battle that has now just been raging for like a decade, it feels like 10 years, it's just one of the two. Uh it just never lets up. Just when you think like, oh, the Honda guys could go on a real long run here, and Kyle's impressive, you know, and all of a sudden, you know, Beaton steps up, stepped up last year, the year before, but especially this year, and Tanty steps up again.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and it's great to see Tanty has stepped it up. You're right, the battle between them, it's it's what really keeps this whole series alive, as far as you know, the involvement with Honda and Yamaha. Um, it's the big presence, it's the big boys, you know, and I think it's really what we need. If Honda had gone out and done it again, it would have definitely put a damper on Yamaha, but they would have been back, they would have done it again the next year. So it's just good that they are back and forward between the two. It keeps it interesting for everyone. But you're right, he did have a perfect year. Even when he had his mistakes or any of his issues, instantly he would turn it around and put himself back into the fight and and and nearly win races. It was just it's crazy to see how confident and dominant he has been all year long.

SPEAKER_01

What was his worst result? Do we know?

SPEAKER_03

Well, like a fifth, I think. The weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the weekend. Oh, was it? So up until this round, though, he'd only dropped, he'd only lost one moto out of 12. Until this round, you know. So he had an incredible season, and um, it's awesome to see, especially you saw how emotional he got after the race, uh, especially talking about the passing of his of his old man, you know, that obviously played weighed heavy on his heart through that whole season. So um but you know what I also like about love about Jed? He's and this is the exact same as Kyle as well. They're so humble and they're so quiet in their success that even like you know, after he just won a championship that he's never won before, and he's tried so hard to win this one. Um, the emotion got the better of him. Um, but he never over over celebrated. It wasn't like this like crazy bananas podium. He was just couldn't believe it had happened. He was speechless, obviously, but he was so much humility in how he approached it. So I think he's a good role model. Um now we've got to specifically think about the other manufacturers, Kawasaki for whole shots on the weekend. I mean, like, what I was like, you know what I thought to myself? Poor old Kawi have had a hard run around the world lately. You know, February isn't having the year he had last year where he won a world title. You got the Kawasaki dramas in the US, where you know, even Marchbanks on the weekend binned it and couldn't couldn't do what he's been doing the last few rounds. And then this year, maybe in Australia, has been good for them, but like we said, the Yamaha Honda battle has just occupied everything. And then um we saw um Alex out Alex Alex Anderson, sorry, Ryan Alex Anderson uh whole shot Moto 1 uh and lead for a little bit, and then he was doing pretty good. He was fifth or sixth in Moto 2 at the start, and then Jace Cosford leading and leading forever in MX2, uh, and even Taylor McCutcheon, I think, got a whole shot as well for the girls. So it was really cool to see the Cowie guys still there, they're still producing an awesome bike, and um the thing goes fast, as as they've been able to prove. So uh yeah, it was good to see another manufacturer, and for the first time, I feel like um Walsh on that KDM was flying. We're gonna get to ME2 soon, uh, too. So it was cool to see the um the KDM crew and the Kaui crew really taking it to the Amaha and Honda guys. Um let's talk about the round winner, Aaron Tanty. Uh I I wish the battles that we saw at this round, and I understand it's a very unique track, uh, and I understand that maybe Jed Beaton was feeling like I don't have to win-win and Kyle Webster's still, you know, maybe coming back from injury. But the speed Tanti showed, the speed Crawford showed, I wish we had that from round one and we had this four-way battle. Does it take that long, Hammy, to sometimes get up to speed through a season? And and will he now be able to hang on to this for next year?

SPEAKER_03

With no dramas throughout the remainder of the year, Tanti is going to go into Supercross very strong out of these kind of results, which is good. Crawford, I I know is going to be part of Supercross. So I think that this is just going to flow from one series to the next, and then it'll move into the year after, especially now that they've given themselves these kind of results. They know that they can come into next year and be competitive. Um, you're right. We all wish it came earlier in the year, but Tanty had good reason, you know, coming back from injury. It does take some time. Uh, and you could just see it every round. You could go back and watch every single round and go, that round's better, that round's better, that's better, you know. And it's just been the same sort of linear improvement every single time. So it wasn't just that it was one round fluke, he done it every round. So yeah, it does take that long, and it's the mental belief a lot of the time when you're coming out of injury, knowing that you can do it. And I think we saw it on the weekend. There was that 100% mental belief, I need to be up there and I need to be in front of everything. And that's what we saw in Moto 2 when he just absolutely hammered it down and got those passes made.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Briggs, do you reckon um Tanti has the lap time speed to run with Webster and Beaton, especially looking into next year? But from what he was able to prove this weekend, last weekend, we know he's won a uh ProMex title in the past. Does he is he at is he at the same level?

SPEAKER_01

In my opinion, yeah. I believe he is. I believe that so is Crawford, to be honest, when they're comfortable and they're happy and they're they're feeling like they should. Definitely. I think that that four-way battle, we should I hope we see more of it. It's better than a two-way battle. I mean, I'm I'm always up as long as we've got a battle. I don't want to see Jed or Kyle on their own 30 seconds out in front. But the weekend, four of them were all there on the last lap pretty much until Nathan made that mistake and Jed got past it. But then Jed was still within you know a second or two of Tanya and Kyle. So yeah, I think they've bridged a gap a little bit. Uh, like Hammy said, they've both come off injuries, one's changed manufacturer, they've found their feet a bit now, they're a bit more comfortable. And I hope it continues into next year, and I hope that we get some other guys find form and get to that pace as well.

SPEAKER_03

I I can clarify that lap time question. Uh, when we saw Tanti go and get to the lead, it was on a 208. The rest of the motor, he ran a 210 towards the end of it, 211. When Kyle went to the lead at the end, it was on a 208. Okay. So the lap times are there, they just came at different parts of the motor. Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So they could they were both doing 208s. That's possible, that's in their wheelhouse.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes. So the times are there. Um, it's just how you treat it um through the motor, and we've seen it quite a lot. And we it this goes back even last year that Jed and Kyle have been able to lift. Their game up, lift the lap times well, lower the lap times, lift their game up at the tail end of the race for the last 10 minutes, five minutes, they're able to really put in the hard laps where some of the other guys are still trying to get to that intensity level through the race. They're all fitting up, but the intensity level is at a different point of the race. It's very hard to do right at the last five minutes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've found too the last year or two, Kyle and Jed have sort of pulled away in the first 10-15 minutes, which is harder for them guys to run that pace and just latch on. When they're right in front of you, it gives you something to chase. But when you're in third, 10 seconds back, you're kind of like a I'll just ride at home. So I think that also helps Tanney knowing that you know he had the pressure from behind, and then he's he's trying to get that win. Um, it definitely will motivate him more, especially Crawford as well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Hopefully they or everything I I believe Tante's deal will probably be renewed for next year, but I don't think he's on a two-year deal. Yeah, um, Jed, yeah, so like it'll be interesting to see. I mean, they're all surely going to get re-signed. You've got one, two, three, four, and they're already on the same team. It would be silly to drop them and bring someone else through, you know. Um, so we should get it.

SPEAKER_03

I I don't have a confirmation on that, but um going off the fact that Tanty is back home basically on Yamaha and he's getting these results. Dak is absolutely pumped with how everything's going. Unless someone come at Tanty with a crazy offer to get him as the number one rider on a different team. I don't think he's going to go anywhere else.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's and the only thing we might see is another addition to the Honda team, I think. Like with Wilson Todd leaving, we might see La would step up and ride a 450 as well and maybe bridge that gap and be in that battle.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, yeah, that'd be interesting to see what they do there too. Yeah, with Wilson Todd. He announced uh last week that he is finishing racing, which is a bit sad because yeah, he uh he had so much ability. Uh and Hammy, you've said you'd said it a million times before that he had so much, you know, so much potential. We unfortunately didn't get to see it. A lot of injuries and bits and pieces that got in the way and crashes, but yeah, he's a good, all around, really lovable, likable guy. So that was a bit of a bummer. Um Kyle Webster, um, Briggsy, your your mate. He uh geez, that second moto, he was flying, and you kind of feel like, like I said earlier, that was the speed he could just show run. Don't forget, this is I'm a this is how fast I can go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it finally clicked with him. His shoulders still giving him a little bit of greek, but obviously they've been rehabbing it pretty well, and he finally just felt comfortable again and and ready to go. Uh it to me it looked like he settled in, and then it was kind of like he just went, right oh, I I just feel it. Like, you know, he got in his zone, and it they almost say it's like you're in your flow. He found his flow and just found a few lines that opened up his corners a little more, especially that one after the the center, the table, table, table. Yeah. Uh Tanny was holding a little tighter on that left hander, and Kyle was right out to the right and opening that corner up. That was probably where he made a lot of time up in that back section. Uh, but man, he yeah, it was pretty impressive too. And his pass around the outside to inside over that jump was yeah, he I think he even caught Tanny by surprise a little bit there.

unknown

Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's definitely he got the speed there. And to be quite honest, it surprised me a little bit at the end that he did put that charge in and it uh he got the pass made. Uh, and not that we should ever doubt that because he's always shown the ability just from the results lately. It just seems like he's been struggling a bit. But like you said, the light switch flicked on and everything turned green and it just took off.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, his bike bike looked probably the best it's looked to me all year two. I don't know if they're found something to the bike, but it just looked really settled compared to previous rounds. So yeah, I think there's some comfort there as well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, same with Crawford. Crawford's bike looked really nice too. Um, speaking of Crawford, yeah. So what what what happened in the second motor? He kind of went from first to second to fourth. Did he just tuck the front end or did he just lose the position? Tuck the front whilst in third. Jed was behind him, so yeah. He must have got up quick because he was then only 1.8 seconds behind Jed pretty much for the rest of the race. Um, so yeah, that's a bit of a shame because he was flying, and I know he was frustrated. I think on the broadcast, so they had the camera crew running across the finish line with um Daka and the CDR team, and at the same time, I think it was a Honda, I'm pretty sure it was Crawford, rode past, and you just heard him heard him let go a good, I think it was him, a good profanity out of frustration, like a big loud, I think. It wasn't Webster, he was gone. Um maybe it was Webster celebrating. But I thought it was Nate Crawford, and I bought I betcha he probably feels frustrated because that was an opportunity to go one-one. And man, if he had have gone from where he was at one faggy to a one-one with a round to go, well, like what a story for and and as well, too, you know. I know that he he mentioned to us on Instagram last week, too, that you know, essentially, you know, that don't don't count me out. This is you haven't seen anything yet, kind of thing. Um, you know, so it would have been a massive one for him to go one-one if he had been able to pull that off in the second moto.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it look that that result there is going to flow in the QMP. Yeah. So watch that space on that one. I'm sure he's ready to go um for QMP. I think he'll be a major threat, and he won't let that go get away from him again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Um, all right, then we went down to Ryan Alex Anderson. This is his best result, fifth of the year, which is pretty impressive. Um, he looked fast, and uh people have got to remember too, he only came into that Kawasaki, the official Kawasaki team, uh, midway through the season. I think he didn't start in that team from memory either.

SPEAKER_03

So um he jumped onto Ferris setup. Yeah, so yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so and and I imagine there'd be a whole bunch of parts and bits and pieces that uh he wasn't able to get on his privateer Kaui or his satellite team Kaui, and also just different sponsors have different parts that you're obliged to run on the bike as well. So kind of having to set a bike up and go how uh how he's done is pretty impressive. Do you think um that's uh definitely a building block? Like we should see even better, maybe in QMP or just more consistency and then going into next year that almost secures him a seat somewhere.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think so. Uh as long as he does it again in QMP, if it's just a one-off right now this weekend and then next week and he's running tenths, twelves, battling out with them guys, then maybe not. But if he can do similar kind of ride that he did there on the weekend, then yeah, I reckon he'll find a seed, a permanent seed on a team, no doubt. He's definitely deserving of it. That was a great ride. And I don't think it's so much that it's the team and the bike. Yes, it's definitely gonna help, but I just think he's growing into that that spot a bit more on the 450, um, finding his feet after coming back from overseas. I I thought at the start of the year, I honestly thought that he was gonna be a bit more of a player at the start of the year. Um, and it kind of let me down a little bit. I thought, you know, he was gonna be one of those guys. Um, how he wrote on the weekend is what I was thinking we were going to see from the start of the year. So he's just growing into it, and yeah, if he gets another result like that at QLP, certainly he will land a spot on a on a team, and it'll be good to see because it was a good ride, it was a very good, strong ride.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely. And and as well, you take that top four out that are kind of on another level. Um, you know, and he's beating the guys that he's in front of Todd Waters, you know, Zach Watson, um, even yeah, the they're they're guys that are that have been on factory teams that are kind of on you know uh factory slash you know satellites teams anyway. So it's a pretty pretty impressive ride.

SPEAKER_01

Uh recently he didn't really look out uncomfortable out front either. That first moto. No, like them first four or five laps, he he looked fine, like he looked like he deserved to be there, and he would counterattack.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I like. Yeah, someone had shown him a wheel or they'd get past him, he'd push to get back past him as well, and he and he looked like he could do it.

SPEAKER_01

So the confidence, the riding's there, the confidence will come, and yeah, it's maybe it's just a little bit of a bridge bridging that gap with the fitness, maybe them other guys a bit fitter, stronger, they've done it a bit more so they know what they're in for. Whereas that would have been pretty fresh for him leading the MX1.

SPEAKER_00

So and that intensity, the intensity to run with a Jed and a Kyle, I imagine you you got them up next to you, would be that'd be a hard thing to overcome. Jets come back from you know being really good at MX GP level, and Kyle Webster's a two-time MX and Nations champion, and you've got those two breathing down your neck. I reckon surely when you're out front like that, that intensity would be hard to withstand. Um Reese Budd, that was impressive. Sixth, probably obviously best ride of the year, I'd probably say. You know, he's technically still a privateer, he's he's got the little family going. Um pretty decent. I mean, there's no real if he's looking next to I know the issue at the start of the year, he tried real hard to pick up extra sponsors, and I think he would dream love to get on uh a team, some sort of a team for uh 2027. But I don't know if there's too many other opportunities. You know, that's the only thing, even though it's a great result, and the and we know how hard he works and how much he loves it, it's gonna be tricky to see him on a team for 2027.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I don't and there's two two parts to this answer. I think he's done an exceptional job on the 450. I think he's made the right move to get onto a 450, and I think he's really doing a great job getting the results because it's showing strength as well. It's not just, oh, I've got a good start and I've fallen back to this place and I'm getting the results. He's actually working really hard to it, and I think he's doing a great job. As far as is the results good enough for a 450 on a team? No, I don't think so at the moment. It's not to say that he can't improve a bit more and then yes, be one of those other second riders. Just because of what you said there, there's not enough rides out there in the 450s. It's more 250 rides. Uh, if you're not the top five people, you really struggle to find a spot on a team um in the 450 class. So it's a tough one. That's yeah, it's some riders sometimes deserve it. There's just there's no rides for them.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's a shame. Like, I feel like he like I don't think don't know if we'll see Dean back next year, but I'd put Reese on that team for sure. I think he could do do pretty well on that Kaosaki team along run, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, yeah, it's a tricky one because there's also Triumph that don't have a team, Ducaddy, that you knew this year, and and and we know there's stuff happening for Supercross, but with Willsey. But you know, are they gonna run a team next year? Who knows? Does Beta have a 250 motocrosser that we're testing in the next couple of months they're gonna four for even the biggest brand KDM don't have that you know, number one rider yet?

SPEAKER_01

Like they're they're relying on Zach, who was sort of the number two rider to Nathan when until he left. So and I don't see unless Byron Dennis steps up or someone, like I know Bosch doesn't like riding the 450, but we need we need more top riders in this class. This class needs to be stacked, and we need two KDMs, two huskies, two you know Kawasaki's in there as well. Like, and get some Suzukis out that would work. They won a title last year.

SPEAKER_00

I missed the call today from Suzuki, but maybe that's what it's about. Who knows?

SPEAKER_03

I think if it like you said, I didn't even consider the triumph and and Ducati. If they were to run a team, then all of a sudden some seats are opening up. So maybe there is some rides out there, yeah. Uh and worthy. So that could be maybe a spot where he finds himself a number two rider in there if they want to those guys want to come in and put the right riders on at first, otherwise, it makes the brand look bad. Yeah, they need to have the right riders on them totally. Yeah, just going out there to get fifth to tenth, it's not really selling your bikes.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, couldn't agree more.

SPEAKER_01

The other thing is, too, it's hard for teams to put riders on for one season, like they don't want to put someone on for motocross and then they don't have anyone for supercross. Yeah, like it they want someone who can ride both disciplines, you know. Yeah, so that's a big part of it too. And I and I I don't know what Reese's supercross is like, but I I feel like he could get a ride for motocross the way he's riding at the moment for sure.

SPEAKER_00

But then, you know, the Ducati option is probably I look at it and go, Oh man, that's probably the one brand where there could be a team potentially next year because Medi is so heavily involved with Ducati. He's obviously running the team for Callum Norton this year in the desert. Uh, and I believe he had a uh a bit to do with the deal with Wilsie. Um maybe he didn't, but that's anyway, kind of what the message that we got. Um so yeah, whether or not Medi can convince Ducati to put together something for Prime X next year would then give people like Reese Buddh the opportunity to step into that role because you know Zach Watson's on a KDM and that's an official team. Toddy Waters is on a husky and that's an official team. He's really one of the only guys. Levi Rogers, you've got you know, Luke Zelienski.

SPEAKER_01

Levi pole position, like in my opinion, he's got the speed, he just needs the time under his belt.

SPEAKER_00

They're the guys they're gonna battle for maybe if there is another team that comes in next year because all those other seats are taken, they're the guys. Five to ten. Yeah, so yeah, that could fill some of those roles. And you know, the the the perks for those guys to hop on a team that can just support them and especially like a Ducadie with a Medi at the top. Oh man, I reckon someone like Reese Bud would do anything to get under Medi's guidance and on that bike.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, I think that'd be a good move if that if they were there, then yeah, for sure, he'd be worthy. And I think you super cross is okay. So it would be a good look if Reese's uh if Reese was considered onto a team like that. I think it'd be a smart move.

SPEAKER_00

Um last little thing I mentioned about the 450s, you can tell that the Yamaha contingency money was in full uh full effect this year because there's a lot there. There's a lot of Yamaha's there. If you go back from 13th, from 13th to 24th on the on the who scored points this weekend, they're all Yamahas, 13th and 24th, except for one husky. So it's you know, it's kind of like when I was watching the broadcast, Havy, and it was pulling all the little logos up next to it, and I was like, they all got on that Yamaha bandwagon. I mean, look, we've ridden the bike, it's one hour shootouts in the past. Everyone knows that it's one of the only bikes in that class you can go and buy, and it's got enough power, it's got enough of everything to just stick a set of tires up on do your suspension and you're good to go. But yeah, it was impressive for to see that many Yamahas in there.

SPEAKER_03

I I think I actually mentioned that the blue, that there was that many Yamahas without knowing what you would just say, then I just saw it as like, damn, there's a lot of blue bikes up there.

SPEAKER_01

And the next one would be Honda. Yeah, it would be like Honda would be the next biggest manufacturer because I know they support a lot of other riders like Riley Stevens and stuff like that. But to be honest, like all the brands need to start throwing some contingency out there, they really need to back the series. Wet like if you give a contingency for KDM, if they put contingency for first, second, or third, 10 grand, 5 grand, 2,500, whatever, someone's gonna run to that, someone's gonna put their money where their mouth is by KDM to try and get it. They may never get it, but they're selling bikes and they're putting more bikes in the series.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's funny. Of the 24 riders that scored points, 14 were on a Yamaha. So you got 60% of the field ran a blue bike this year. And I'd love to know to interview all of them and ask did the contingency play a factor in the bike that you picked, or was it purely because you you know you'd heard the Yamaha was powerful, didn't want to shoot out whatever else it was, and and that's why.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it'll be interesting to see how many is in MX2 compared to MX1.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, good point. We'll have a look now. Let's jump into MX2. Um, so yeah, sorry, I will finish off with the 450. So we run into um QMP and we have the winner of that class has already been sorted. Um, same as MXW, we're gonna get to that soon. So uh Jed Beaton is your 2026 450 motocross champion. We've got one more round to go, and uh we'll be interested to see how Jed goes. I know he's headed to the US to do some racing, and uh Yamaha would never let him do it, but I thought for a second there, I wonder if any part of him goes, This is done, I'm going. You know, I'm gonna head to the US, it'd be nice, but I don't think uh contractually that would be very well uh very much appreciated. Um so MX2, Alex Lawood. Uh geez, that second moto, the battles in that second moto were epic with everyone he went had to go through. Walsh, Kingsford, impressive, another kiwi, he's pissed dominated all year, but it's a it's a kiwi top step of the podium, it's kind of cool. Um I was gonna say a track like this suit a Lawoard, but he's done it on every all terrain.

SPEAKER_03

He's he's good with every terrain that he gets onto. Um, that's never been a problem. So I think he's just proven that he is the guy up front that uh everyone's chasing all year long. There hasn't been too many chinks in the armor, a couple of bike issues or all that small crash, whatever, earlier in the year, where it didn't work out the best for him, but he's been able to turn it around and it comes back to that whole mental thing. He truly believes he's the guy that's going to win this championship, and he shows that every time he rides a bike. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he does. He's been pretty fast, and he just seems to be patient enough, and then he'll wait. And like all the passes he had to make in Moto 2, they didn't happen instantly. He didn't catch the rider and pass them straight away. He spent some time behind them, and then, like I said, I think it was the pass for the lead in Moto 2. He went round the outside on that uphill right-hander and he was flying. Um so you know, to show the patience to wait, he knows he's got the speed. It's probably uh it's not a formality next weekend. The the points are still close enough that Cade Kingsford, there's what's that, 26 points. Uh Cade Kingsford can still get in there and create some havoc depending on what happens. But um yeah, poor old Cade didn't do himself any justice this weekend with that second moto. I texted Yareve and I'm like, Is it is everything all good? Yareve said, Yeah, it's all right. You can listen to what he said on the podium afterwards, which was that he just couldn't get a flow going. He's young, he's gonna put this all together, but he just on that podium he sounded frustrated with what happened in Moto 2. He just didn't go forward from ninth position.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, so that something happens, and I called it out um through the moto that he was in a 12th, 11th, 10th, and then he went back to 11th. Yeah, so I don't know. He said there was chaos out there, and I don't know the story, I don't know what happened. We never got to see it, but maybe he had a small tip over, maybe something for him to lose a position back in those kind of positions. Something's got to have gone wrong for one lap. So to not find the flow with how fast he was in the first one, craziness. I I don't know. He is going to be the rider to beat in the next couple of years. Yeah, there's no no question in that. Yep, but what happened in the second race on the weekend, I honestly don't know. Uh, I really couldn't give you an answer because the pace he had in moto one should have had him at least top five.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, at least easy, yeah. Even coming from the back, he should have made that top that top five. Yeah, he was doing stuff in moto one from some of the replays and bits and pieces that we saw that were sexy, like some of the cornering speed that he had and the little scrubs out of corners and incredible, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I I think I think K needs to get overseas personally, but that second ride was uh a little bit of reminiscent of a tomac every now and then. Yeah, when he's when he sags off and then he gets arm pump or something, like you know, and you're like you just went 113, what happened? Like same same thing, and they can't really explain it, they're just uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, he'll be frustrated with that because he's he's 26 points behind uh Larwood, and it could have been say the late teens, you know, eight 17, 18, 19 if he had a finished second. Uh so which we meant they would probably have to run right to that second moto, uh whereas depending on what happens in moto one at QMP, it could be a foregone conclusion before they even get to moto two. So we'll we will wait and see. But um, yeah, Alex Larwood, he has just been in fine form all year. It's gonna be hard to see. It's gonna be a Honda at the end anyway. Um and it'll be hard to beat Larwood. I texted Scotty Bishop to ask how's Noah, because at one stage his bite was upside down, but then he was on it again at the end. He got lapped kind of on the last lap of the lead lap. Yeah, um, but he was back on it, and Bish said uh he's a bit banged up and hurt, um, and he bent the front disc. So bent the yeah, bent the front disc, couldn't pr pretty much use his front brake, so you know, you see your staffed from there on. So he just kind of you know, soldiered on, pushed his way around um to pick up what he could. But um yeah, a bit of a bummer for poor old nine because he was kind of the only other coloured brand that was giving him a run up the front there. Um while she that was fast, finally. It's like I feel like again, like so many of those other riders who waited until the second last round, and he was flying. And and also what I liked was he rode the bike like a bus, no one could get past him, he put up fights, he'd counterattack. Um is the natural terrain stuff a real UK vibe feel of track? Do they ride a lot of natural terrain over there?

SPEAKER_03

Nah, I wouldn't think so.

SPEAKER_01

Um it's too wet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's too wet. No, no, I don't know. I really don't. It the natural terrain, you can see it in some of the GP tracks where they do sweep around corners. You see it in New Zealand where they have those good open natural terrain tracks. I don't know where the skill would come from, um, as such, if you've never ridden Connondale before, but he said that they've been working on the bike and they've been getting better. Uh, I mean, it's taken a long time to get here, but we saw it at round one how fast he was through qualifying. We're expecting to see it throughout the rest of the year. So Don't know why it's taken so long. He's definitely showing what we all thought would be a little earlier in the year now. We knew this is the pace out of him. Uh it's taken a bit to get here. Hopefully, he can run it again at the next round and keep everything interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's always been fast. I mean, I've heard rumors of him being the fastest at Beaton's pro formula, like when they're training between Jed and Kyle. But so he's obviously got the speed. And I don't know about natural terrain, but unless he's done a thousand laps of Matalie Basin. That's the only one I can think of. That's what I mean.

SPEAKER_00

That's all I'm thinking in my head. Isn't that the one we get broadcast a bit something? Oh, maybe they've got a lot of them, but you're right, the weather wouldn't really be conducive.

SPEAKER_01

I've never seen Matalie Basin as hard pack as Cottendale. Good point. Good point. You know, so I think it's just like Amy said, they've found some stuff to bike. He's clicking and just found some comfort.

SPEAKER_00

So um I tell you what, for an Englishman, he doesn't sound that English. Every time if you get a little snippet of his accent, he sounds pretty Aussie.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm I'm wondering if he's picked up a little bit of our he's done seasons in every other country but his own, really. Like he was in America like two years ago, and then here last year.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, every podium speech I hear him say, I'm like, oh, you know what? I reckon if someone just tuned in for 30 seconds and tuned back out, they wouldn't have known he was English. But anyway, um Cade Kingston and Thurb talked about Cade, uh, he'll be disappointed, but he's got one more round to try and you know see what he can prove. And I think, like you said, Briggs, he's so young, he has an opportunity probably to go overseas soon if he wants to make it happen. Uh, and he's got that speed.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and another thing on that, from what we've seen, also from MX3, and even this year, he doesn't dwell on the bad result, yeah, yeah. Which is a very good trait to have that. Um, yes, it sucked on the weekend. Yes, we all knew he should have done better than what he did, and he would 100% know that he should have done better, but he doesn't dwell on it. He turns it around, gets back on with a job. And I think that there is a sign for someone that can be a champion in this class. He's already proven it mx3, but in this class, I think that's a sign to say, yeah, everyone else needs to watch out because next year he is going to be one of your main players.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think he'll be one of our main players to come super cross. Yeah, uh, yeah, he can ride supercross. Like Melbourne, when he hit that quad first out of any one of the days, it's just like, yeah, this kid's got it. Like, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, the battle he had with Turner at Cronulla. Yeah, yeah, you know, it was epic. Uh yeah, so he's got he's got it. It's exciting. It's exciting for us as as uh you know watching the series and uh even if he does go overseas. Um, brother Ryder, he had a pretty good second moto. He was kind of pushing to get into that podium position. He just couldn't make, we're gonna get to him. He couldn't couldn't get the pass on Reed Taylor. And it was like, where did that ride come from? From Reed. It's like you know, I think you guys pointed out, Hammy, as well, that he was running a stock graphics on his bike, just representing good old Honda, the local Honda dealership with no graphics, um, which is cool to see.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but he had some very pretty suspension in that too. Oh, did he? Yeah, there's pretty suspension in it because it was he was flying. I didn't know he was. He he and that's another one. Retailer is another guy that every now and then you'll see crazy speed out of him. There is no denying he is a fast rider, but putting it together on the day is where he's let himself down every now and then. On the weekend, he certainly had it in the right package, you know, he had everything together working properly, and that's the position that he can run when he gets everything right. So hopefully that's another rider. We just hope that he can continue to keep rolling with that kind of pace because he is certainly a podium contender, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and just this class in general, like it has so much depth compared to MX1. Like, you know, I feel like like Noah Ferguson, he got 14th, but he should be a top five guy, you know, he should be up there. And then we look at Jed Orsop, he can he can run that pace on occasion as well, yeah. And then you see Byron and Jace Cosford as well, like you know, yeah. Jace Jace has always had that in him. I just it it just hasn't been out there for a while.

SPEAKER_00

Like that Moto 2 ride for Jace Cossford was exceptional. Whole shot and then lead. And the only reason I feel like he probably didn't land on the podium at the end there was because he binned it. Otherwise, he had seemed to have the pace and the um intensity.

SPEAKER_03

His lap times showed that he was easily running up that pace and was consistent lap times at that leader pace. So that, like Brigie just said, that's that's something we've been waiting for out of him as well. And this MX2 class, I feel is probably the best it's been in the last couple of years. There's no one or two standouts. I think everyone is pretty much elevated to a very similar level. Of course, you got Lawood that's and Kingsford that have been just that bit better, but I think everyone else is a lot closer this year, and there is a lot of guys that have been able to get up there and run those positions. So it's great to see, honestly. It's been one of the best classes to actually watch each round.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And you talk about um, I mean, we we talk about another brand or brands uh getting into this class potentially next year, and there's some riders jumping on them. Uh Reed Taylor, you know, both of you guys, Hammer, you went to the US to ride the um Triumph 250X uh 250X For us, and and Brixie, you've ridden it as well at the shootout. But you know, that bike is such a good bike. Look what it's doing in MXGP. Um, you know, it's it's McClellan and uh Ferrez. Game Ferrez, yeah. You know, they're they're flying on that thing, and we so we know how good it is, and you kind of feel like, man, you give someone like a Reed Taylor a good team and uh someone to guide him and that bike, but you got a guy who could go top five easy, maybe even uh kind of regular podium position.

SPEAKER_01

Um the Indians come on honestly, eight of them in there that can win on any race that they feel like it. I I know Larwood's dominated and Connolly dominated last year, but it was still like this year. I do feel like genuinely, like Jace Cosford could have won that motor. Yeah, like his speed is there, like it's and there's eight of them like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Kiwi's in this class, eh? They're just like to own our 250 class. Um that's a good thing. Um Byron Dennis fast. I feel like he was faster in Trogan slightly. Maybe the slightly more sandier terrain suits him better. Um but man, he's gonna have so much potential in the next couple of years, too, which is gonna be awesome. Especially like you said, if a law would decide to step up, if there's an opening on a 450 bike, I think the the Byron Dennis Cade Kingsford battles we're gonna see. Um, throw Jace Cosford in there is gonna be pretty cool. And even someone like a Reed Taylor based on the speed we got shot.

SPEAKER_01

I actually think Byron would suit a 450. Yeah, yeah. He's a taller, he has very good technique, he's very smooth on the throttle. I think Byron would benefit stepping up next year, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I yeah, don't waste any more time on the 250. Yeah, yeah, step straight up.

SPEAKER_00

There's a spot on the KDM team. So uh if you're yeah, if you're listening, Kyle, I'm sure he's uh speaking to speaking to him. He'd be a good candidate for sure. Um Haruki Yokoyama uh in seventh, and uh Nakajima eighth. Like we said last week, keep fighting each other, the two Japanese riders. Uh, but impressive for them too, you know, to go another top ten in that stacked field with as many you know decent riders. Um Campbell Williams, Reed Taylor, Seth Birchell, probably you know, the Yamaha boys didn't have the weekend that they probably would have liked either. Um but I think Seth's young too, so he'll kind of be working on that for next year, too. Um again, like we discussed, Noel Ferguson, unfortunate in that second motor having the tip over, uh, he didn't score any points, so he obviously called uh finished outside of the 23. But that's a big that's a big hit for him to the championship too, because uh in the total championships, he's he's right down now in the where is he sixth? So he you know he's not even gonna be able to get on a podium anymore. So 249 is where Byron Deren is Byron Dennis is and Noah Ferguson's on 230. So that's that's pretty much done.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. The last step on the podium is decided by those two KTM writers. Yeah, correct, correct.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's gonna be interesting, isn't it? Yeah, we've talked about this all season. The Honda guys find each other, the KDM guys find each other, the Yamaha guys find each other in all the classes. Um that's crazy. Hey, let's talk about MX3. Uh now, Seth, again, more Kiwis. Seth Morrow just dominating, and I was kind of, you know, it started this year when we're researching who all these guys are, and I'm looking at him going, oh, another Kiwi, I wonder how he will go. And he's really pulled it together the last two rounds.

SPEAKER_03

Um it's it's way too late. It is he he and and then this is no disrespect. He was on our radar last year at the tail end of the championship last year. He got some really great results. Um, and I was like, Wow, this this is the real deal right here. And then it just at the start of the year, I don't know what happened, but those results just weren't there. And for his last two rides, there is no, I mean, maybe there was an injury or something we don't know about, but when you watch those last two rides, it's like, well, what happened at the start of the year? Because you couldn't, you really could have been the guy that's leading this championship with those kinds of rides.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, he's he scored 10 points at round two, and and you know, you just give him 20, and all of a sudden he's third. Um, yeah. So frustrated. I'm sure he's more frustrated than anyone else.

SPEAKER_03

But um it's great to see, don't get me wrong. It's awesome to see, and and this class has been so good for it that we've had so many different winners. Yeah, um, but yeah, Seth Morrow, it's it's not that it's just come out of nowhere, I think it's just come a bit late.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So technically, but technically he is incredible. Yeah, watching him just nice the way he was riding his technique, the bike was so settled under him. I sent Hammy a message during the broadcast and said, This guy looks like he's riding in fourth and fifth gear.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He looked like he was a gear up on everyone, just trail riding with perfectly.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he actually looked slow. Yeah, his body and everything, he looked slow.

SPEAKER_01

His movements, everything just looked, yeah. He reminded me of like a jet, to be honest. Yeah, very straight back, his knees were right back, very straight. He weighted the rear of his pegs a lot, pushed his heels down. Like technically, he's the most impressive in the class at the moment.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and again, that just emphasizes my point. What the hell happened at the start of the year?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. It just must be nerves or just uncomfortable or something.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, again, there may have been an injury, there might be some underlying factor we don't know what it was.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but and these kids are so young, they're they're learning this as they go as well. A lot of them, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, Hayden Draper, Heath Fisher, they were around the same position on the weekend, they're kind of following each other, tailing each other. Uh, but they are uh first and second in the championship. They ended up finishing um on the weekend uh worth third and fourth again. So you kind of wonder if there's a little bit of the championship playing into the factor there. They didn't want to push it. They know that both of them have gapped third, that gapped Riley, and so you know, to do any better than third or fourth, they probably weren't gonna catch catch Seth for the overall. He's he went one line and he was so far ahead. But Heath Fisher, Hayden Draper, it's gonna be between those two next weekend.

SPEAKER_03

So Fisher really dropped the ball on the weekend after such a great performance in moto one. Yeah, uh, I don't know what happened in Moto 2. He had the biggest opportunity to really close down that, and we would have been going into the last round in a 10-point gap, nothing in it. Um, but I don't know what he did in the second moto to just really, yeah, not take advantage of that because motor one was so good. I didn't know at the time either, and we saw it. And unfortunately, when we're sitting in our commentary booth, we have zero service, so we don't see any of these messages or any other details that come through. But while we're driving out of there, we learned that Draper was extremely sick on the weekend. Actually, had to get help had to get help back to the truck. He was sleeping between the motos, so that's why he was so far back. I wish people, I wish teams would tell us this and not hide it. Yeah, you know, it's it doesn't help us because we're on the broadcasts going, what's wrong with him? He's just run like crap. Well, there's a reason, but we just don't know it, you know. We we walk around the teams and everything. Uh, we do do a little bit of talk, and maybe we don't get to talk to everyone. We're still doing our interviews and things like that, but just some uh a bit of a heads up, at least say, hey, a bit under the weather, it's probably just going to be a bit of a salvage weekend. Um, and it'd help us out and not make us look so stupid.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't it funny to hear Ricky and um like Daniel Blair and Stuart and all that say the same thing? Like, if Coop's got a cold, just tell us. Like, just tell us. Otherwise, we're just going, I don't know what's happening with the three-time supercross jam, but he sucks tonight.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe I think it's tough to commentators, just get someone in the community yourself, but he's got the flu.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's a shame because uh it's been a bit of a trend for him this year that he hasn't been able to get back up there. Yes, he's been able to manage his points lead and get the points that he needs. And I'm sure the weekend being sick, like we know now, would have been extremely tough on him to get through. So, in hindsight, he did a pretty good job um to get through the way he did and still maintain that lead. He got a little lucky in the second moto that Fisher didn't get a good start and then just run up front again. So it keeps him well within the fight. Um, and and these are the weekends where you are sick, you go out there, you still score the points. That could be the difference in the championship. So good on him. I just wish we knew that that was the way it was.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, I think you know what too though, like if he was crooked third, Moto 2. I would have thought that's like that's a courageous ride for someone his age to come out in Moto 2 when they don't the energy would be gone. Uh and finish on the podium. He's bloody impressive. Do you know what? Do we know what happened to Hayden Downey in Moto 1? Wasn't on the broadcast, so I couldn't see. Yeah, it was.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you didn't see it. Uh massive crash out of turn one.

SPEAKER_00

Oh the whole shot down that hill. Was that his huge one?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so huge and so lucky just to be back out there, I think. Yeah, so but then you get a result like that in moto two. What could have been unfortunate for him?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it's unfortunate too because he's not doing too badly in the points. 206, you know, if you give him another 20 something points, he's almost third. Like he's he's just behind Riley.

SPEAKER_01

Well, imagine if Riley didn't have that DNF, we would have had a three-way battle next weekend. Yes, yeah, you know what I mean. With the ride that he had this week, you know, second overall, he he gained points on both Fisher and and and Draper. It would have been awesome going in the last round for any of them three could win, but yeah, it is what it is, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. Um, let's talk about Riley. So he had a pretty good race. That I think he was frustrated in Moto 2. He got kind of passed late in that moto, uh, but still finished up second overall on the podium, which is still a pretty good result. He had a good Moto 1. Um, I loved the Sunnies that that guy had on for his podium speech. You don't see them much like that nowadays. I feel like 80s Commodore driver Sunnies, um, and he's taken a leaf out of all the Americans. Love to get their flash Sunnies out when they get on the podium. I liked it. Um, but he's got, yeah, like you said, Hammy, second place is gone. He's got to find 19 points for the others to score none, essentially.

SPEAKER_01

Well, his biggest problem now is behind him. Yeah, correct. Seth Mara gained 12 on him this weekend. Yep. If he gains 12 on him again next weekend, well then Riley's in a lot of trouble.

SPEAKER_00

And that would be unfortunate because if he gets 10 or 12, he'll beat him by like two points. Yeah, yeah. You know, you know. Um, yeah, so probably Matt Boyd, our tech ed's gonna have his work cut out for him this week, trying to get his bike ready to go, get the rider himself ready to go. I can imagine, like at their age and coming into a championship like this, where there's there's you know, the the TV's looking at him, Hammy's calling races that they're in, so is hoes, we're watching it, we're talking about it. It's gonna be a fun week for riders.

SPEAKER_01

Not only that, the couple of them are that that age where they're gonna go out of this class now and and they want to ride for next year. Yeah, so their results, you know, they want to put in a good result and finish up the season. If he gets third on in the season and with a DNF, you know, I think he's gonna be one to watch in Supercross too. He's tech technically in Supercross, he can ride amazing. Um, yeah, so you know, but I think like a lot of these kids, they're they're about to go out of this class, and this class, who's next? You know, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, yeah, it's gonna be a good one. Seth Thomas, finally, what a good ride. I feel like this is his best result, fifth overall this year. Um, we've known how fast he's been as a junior, and it's never easy to come out of juniors and just come into this class and dominate it. We well, I think Hammy, you mentioned it last week. No one's really done that for a long time. Caden Minier was kind of the only person that's really come into the MX3 class and and dominated otherwise. I think you said Jay Wilson ten years ago, whatever it was. So it's cool to see Seth get a really good result. And on a gasser, because I was going through the score, the results sheet, I I don't think there's another gas gas in any class in the top 22, 3, 4. So it's cool to see. And I think he he showed how fast he is. We ended up we all know he's got so much natural ability.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so he's another one of these riders that has improved throughout the year. Uh I think if you look at these first round results, first second round, I think he was floating around that 10th, maybe just inside the 10th. But now we're seeing him consistently up in those top places. I think uh yeah, look at it next year, he'll be one of your main competitors in this class. So the improvement is obvious and he continues to impress.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um yeah, he has done well. He he's still training with you out at your place every now and then, Briggsy too.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he rides here occasionally doesn't train so much here anymore. He he does a lot with Craig now, but Kurt just they've been going to Beatons a fair bit, actually. Um, yeah, back and forth from Victoria. But yeah, good family, and Seth's a great little rider. He he finds another level. I don't think we've seen the best of Seth this year. I think, like Hammy said, next year we will see a different Seth. I think it'll be a class for him to be up front. He should be up front. I think he's gonna have another young pup nipping at his heels next year, but definitely it's gonna be yeah, Seth's time to shine a little bit for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Um, there's a few names, I think we talked about this last week too, Hammy. Uh Matthews Taylor ripped it last week, and uh Jove Dunn has had some good rounds too, and then like the good old MX3 class, then they just go missing. You wonder where they are, and then next week you watch them out at QMP, they'll whole shot and and win a race.

SPEAKER_03

Um I think Dunn had a crash in that Moto 1 as well. Okay. I think I think he was involved in that big crash with Downey where he collected the bike.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

So his results probably going to reflect that crash a bit. Yeah. Um, but Matthews Taylor, yeah, he he out of nowhere down there, likes the soft conditions, I assume. Um, the hard pack, maybe not so much. But yeah, he wasn't able to repeat the performance. But still, it's another great writer that's out there, like many of these that are just learning their way through this particular class.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and can throw a spanner in the works at any moment. So we never know what's coming next week, which is kind of exciting too. If any of those guys can get their way up there and battle with Morrow and Burgess and Draper and Fisher, that'd be kind of cool. Um Blake Bahannan. What uh you know, we we Briggsy and I had him and his dad Tim on the podcast last week to catch up with everything that happened over in Worlds, uh, but also to get to know him a bit better. And um, yeah, he obviously made it uh kind of told the public two weeks ago now that he was racing MX3 this week. And um watching him line up on the start line was like he's 13 and he's not a massive 13-year-old, and so he looks so much physically smaller, the little fella, but he he did so good, like he's giving up 20 kilos in maybe more, 30 kilos in body weight, a little like being on a 125, and 20 horsepower, yeah. Correct, you know. So if you're gonna slam into someone, I'd I would rather be on the bigger, heavier, faster bike. Um anyway, he did he had a really good second moto going there for a while. And uh yeah, Briggs and I were talking about it before we jumped on this pod, and um Briggs he's kind of gone back and forth with Blake's dad, Tim, um, a little bit before now, and he just sounds sounds like it's a bit of a learning curve for him. It's jumping into a big boy class. I think they're a bit more friendly in the kids' classes, even at the world level. Yeah, uh, and it would have been a big shock up against two DFs and guys that don't want don't want a kid beating them.

SPEAKER_03

No, that's right, it is a big shock. Um, just to get out there and get that experience. I know we actually we they didn't broadcast it, and it's a shame because he spoke well, but we I did an interview with him before the day that was meant. Well, it was it was put into the schedule as a standby, um dependent on time, and we knew which way it was going to go with Jed Beaton and how much time we're gonna need at the end of the show. So it wasn't that he didn't do a good interview, it's just that we had to make sure we had that room. So it's unfortunate. But he spoke very well. Um, he didn't expect too much. He was just going out there to you know try to enjoy it and certainly get the experience. And yeah, it was going to be a big wake up call for him going into that one. Um, very different to what he's used to. But second race there, he was top 10 off the start in in Holden. I think that's More than a great effort for the young age and first time into it. It's a massive eye-opener to go, especially at a young age like that, to go and do racing against 17-year-old guys. You know, it's it's a huge thing. So I think he did pretty good. Um, he'll take that experience and move forward. I think he's the writer that's going to be capable of improving from it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure. Yeah, well, I I laugh because we when Blake says that he just, you know, he wants a top 10. In Blake's head, Blake wants to win. It doesn't matter who he's racing, what he's racing, he is that determined, that little kid. I I from this, I think you'll see a different Blake at QMP. Like he will come, he'll have a fire under his bum, to be honest. And that's just me, me thinking from what I've seen in the past, like he will make sure that he gets a good result next race. I'm not saying he'll win or anything like that, but yeah, he will he'll push it next race to the point where he's known. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I think the physicality and just the would have been a big big one for him, obviously. Even if he's you you you said you've done um you know a practice with him and the older boys, the MX3 boys, and made them chase each other and bits and pieces. But when you've got that was a full grid, like they, I don't know, it was almost 40 riders. It was 40 riders on the grid.

SPEAKER_03

No, and there was some like 50 or 60 riders for it, and they don't qualify, they have 10 or 12 not qualified.

SPEAKER_00

That's they're on two two heats, yeah. Like that's in all those 250s on a track. And I don't were there any other one, two, fives, Hammy, that you saw line up there.

SPEAKER_03

Not that I can remember. No, I mean, come on, like that's just his power to weight though, would have eclipsed any 250 that was out there.

SPEAKER_01

That's true. You watch, but like his lap times and all that. I've I've seen what he can do, yeah. And like I was saying to you earlier, like the 450 Reese bud at Sessnocker State titles did like a 150 in his second motor. Blake was the last motor of the day and done like a 150.5 on a 125. Like he's running Reese's times, you know. Um, so he's coming, but there's still like Hammy said, it is a learning curve, it's a massive learning curve. And him Tim wants to win just as bad as Blake, don't yeah, you know, which is good. I love it. Like, I think it's great for the sport. It's the same with Seth and Kurt. They Kurt, Seth, they want to win just as bad as Tim and Blake. There's a couple of families that that are in like that. Either Heath Davy. Heath Davy, he'll be up there in the next year or two. Oh, there's some young kids coming up that yeah, they're pretty special, so it's gonna be good to see.

SPEAKER_00

Cool. Um, only other class running on the weekend was the MXW class, and it was a bit of you know, step and repeat uh from previous rounds. You know what? I felt a bit like I I've um oh I'm bummed to see Charlie Canning getting beaten because I have only ever put her on such a high pedestal because of how much she's dominated here when she got the chance to run some good MXGP at Darwin, she was fast. When she's gone over to the US and done those random uh races over the last two years where it's just one-off races, you know, she's shown speed that's the fastest on in the field, but you've kind of gone, oh well, she's only there for one race, so you can't expect her to be you know consistent across two motors or something throughout the day. But to see Lockie Turner do what she's done this year in Australia, and then on the weekend she went down and then got back up and went back past everyone again to take that win. Oh, I was I was deflated for poor old Charlie as well. Charlie's injured, but yeah, she's hurt, I know.

SPEAKER_01

She's got a broken scapula, and then early in the year she had a broken finger really bad. Correct. And so she hasn't had the best year. I think, yeah. I think Charlie's got the pace to run with Turner.

SPEAKER_00

You reckon?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, of course she does. She's beaten Turner before, so yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what I feel. But it's it's hard because she's come over here and she's doing it here. We're used to watching Charlie go onto her home ground and do something pretty special over there, and it's like, oh man, it's hard to watch. Um, Charlie, did you could you tell Hammy there live that the injuries and the lack of ride time, maybe, and and maybe some of the travel back and forth from the US, did she not have that same late race speed and intensity?

SPEAKER_03

She just she doesn't have anything at the moment. It's it's not the Charlie cannon that we're used to seeing. Yeah, um, and it is all about the injury. Um, not that that's an excuse. She doesn't want to use it as an excuse, but quite simply, when you've got a I've had the injury when you've got a broken scapula, uh, it is very hard to ride with. I did when I was racing. It is extremely hard to do. So just to be out there doing it, she's doing a great job. Um, but yeah, she doesn't have that intensity, but not taking anything away from Lochlin. Again, she just she stepped it up. She's an absolute beast on the on the bike when you watch her, especially when you watch her live when you're there, and you just I'm in awe watching the girls go around. And it's not just her. Like I watch practice and I go, wow, they are absolutely ripping around this track. Maddie Simpson, McCutcheon, uh Melissa Vick. Yeah, she she didn't feature anywhere because she had terrible starts, and then by the end of the race, she's charging through. You know, Wiley has picked up the pace so much as well. There's the girls have come so far in these last couple of years, it's just impressive to watch. And I know that the crowd really gets into it as well, seeing just how fast these girls are.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, definitely. Um, I saw you got to interview Charlie Cannon too, Hammy, on on the day and got it. Was it was you a hoax or it was hoax got to, yep. Yeah. Uh have a chat with her about what's kind of happening, and she mentions some of the struggles that she's been having this year. So uh I don't know what she's got planned for the rest of the year after QMP, but um, I think she's doing MXGP in Darwin.

SPEAKER_03

No, and that's what I was just about to say, yeah, because they've got the list out for MXGP in Darwin uh after such a great year last year. I assumed that she was going to do it as well. Maybe the scapula was going to change that mind. And then I saw Lala was doing it. I was like, wow, okay, we've got the two best girls that are gonna go there and battle it out with the the world as well. Uh, I was a little disappointed when she told me that she's not going there this year. It was um a financial thing, it's gonna cost too much. I don't think she's in the right frame of mind at the moment, being injured again. She's not having the best year as far as the racing because of these injuries and everything else that's been going on. So she won't be doing it. She's going back to America. Uh that's disappointing. I'd love to have seen her back up there for MXGP, but she won't be there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, okay. All right, that's a bummer. I was wondering what she'd do. Is a scapula the kind of thing you can get surgery on or not? Because it's a flat bone, it's just got to heal.

SPEAKER_03

It's just got to heal. And it's it's not that it's a break where it's split off. I I think it's a bit of a crack through the center of it. I don't think there's any movement of it in it, it's just a healing thing. Yeah. So um it's yeah, it's a surgery is definitely not needed, but it's just time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, pain as well, I guess. Um, I had to do a profile piece with Lockie Turner for some Yamaha stuff for them, and um, we were doing some research behind her, and she has an interesting story in herself. You know, she she only started writing uh when she was 13 or 12 or 13, whatever she said she did. And and and because she didn't grow up writing from the age of four, um she kind of was really uh oblivious to like some of the little minor things that a lot of these elite athletes and racers do between rounds or at rounds or while they're racing, and she kind of just was and I think that came out on the weekend. I think maybe it was one of you guys asked her uh on the broadcast there what you know what she was expecting this weekend, and she response was I didn't really know what to expect. I've never written anything like this, I've never said anything like this. It's like how do you go that fast? Having like really like not, you know, this isn't something that you've done since the age of four, and you've re-raced it in natural terrain tracks all around the world. So to see what she is capable of, considering that yeah, where she's come from, I guess, um la la is really impressive. So it's it's a credit to how good how far she can go. Um Taylor McCutcheon, yeah, third. Poor old Taylor, I feel like that's been her position all year, is third. And and and far and away, third. She's been pretty comfortable in that third position. And she can hold shots, she can kind of run with those other two girls, but then just doesn't have the ability to run for the full race.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, tail end of the moto. She does drop off just a little bit. First moto, she was doing really well at Conondale. Um, on the podium, she said that she made some suspension changes between the races, and she said she thinks she went the wrong way for moto number two. She definitely didn't have that pace in moto two. So unfortunate for her, but she keeps chipping away at it, and she's another one of those just top girls to go out there and and absolutely rip it around the track.

SPEAKER_00

So is it because it's a track that they can't ride on every week that they're making suspension chambers changes between motors? Because we heard that a little bit, and I feel like that's unusual for at their level. Should they kind of pick a setting at the start of the weekend, maybe make an adjustment in qualifying, and that's it?

SPEAKER_03

No, and you've kind of hit the nail on the head. It's a track that they don't get to ride every weekend. In fact, it's a track that we don't get to ride at that sort of track anywhere around the country because they go and rip the shit out of it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So it's a different type of suspension setting you need. And the suspension settings that they have from the start of the year is set up for a completely different style of track. When you get to this one, you've got to soften it up a bit, you've got to speed the rebound up a lot more. And if you're not used to it and you don't know which way you're meant to go with the suspension, then it becomes very easy to get a little confused and go the wrong way.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Especially with how fast it was, too. Yeah, like it's easily the fastest track that we've had all year, no doubt. The only thing that would compare with speed would be Manjima. That's that's straight up. Conondale was fourth gear flat on that first right-hand corner, you know. Yeah, that was fine. So we don't see any other tracks like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, Maddie Simpson, she had a cracker. She's kind of again that like top eight are pretty much solid every week. Um uh with Darcy and Emma uh Melissovich as well. Um, it's cool to see Emma in there because she's been racing overseas, racing here, racing in the bush too. I think she did some bush racing as well. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So she does, she usually does in Turo, but she spent a bit of time overseas. I think was it Taragum was her first ride back, or was she back? Yeah, well, it was because she didn't do the first round. Yes. I don't I don't think she did. Might be mistaken, but I don't think she did. Taragum was the first one back. Um, Melissovic's just a beast as well, you know, bad start, whatever happened on the opening laps, didn't see it on TV, so I can't really comment on it. But I did see her moving up the order rather rapidly. And then you see at the tail end there, just battling it out all the way to the checkered flag. So as a rider that never gives up all the way through. Maddie Simpson was impressive, especially Moto 2, very fast at the start of the race, just gets to that mid-race and then starts to drop off the pace, whether that's a mental thing or it's a full fitness thing. I wouldn't think so because she also does all the off-road as well. So she's used to riding a lot longer through the day. Um, it's just the intensity side of it would be a bit different, I think. So it was a good result for her, though. Um, Darcy Wally, not quite as good as that we saw at Taralgan, but still a solid performance. Moto 2 had more of a showing. So, yeah, as I said at the start of this little sort of segment, the girls have stepped it up massively and they've really been putting on a good show for us all year long.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely. It'd be interesting too. Maddie rides with Jess for the off-roads, and Jess is such a good mentor, and she's such a cunning, clever racer. You know, I wonder if uh having Jess at a ProMex just in Maddie's corner to give her some advice and some direction on the day would help with her in that late race kind of intensity and speed. Interesting to see if that would make a difference as having her in a corner. Um Mia Tung, Briggsie, your uh rider. She she went pretty good. She's also riding for Boydie. Um but that's her best result this year, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's funny. She um so she's had a little bit going on in the background, to be honest. She had a really good result. Not last year, last year at Harvey Bay in the Sunshine State series. She got second to Charlie, um, only by like eight seconds or something, beat Maddie, I think, and beat Darcy and was on a good trajectory, had a crash at Lakes, broke a collarbone, and since then she's had a nerve damage that's been uh stuff in her hands. So she hasn't been able to hang on, but they've found a bit of a looks like a solution to that. And yeah, she can finally hang on, and she's finding finding a groove again, so which is good. Like, yeah, I've I've always put Mia's around that five, three to five. I think she can run the pace of Maddie and Darcy and all that. Um, there's it there is a big jump to get to Lachlan and and Charlie, um, and even Taylor McCutcheon at times. But yeah, I think she's definitely yeah, she deserves to be in that seventh through, you know, four to seven is where I put Mia on her good days and certain tracks, and yeah, it's good to see her bounce back and back on her feet.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, push through the injury, that's what we want to see, and not kind of give up on the season. It's not a long season for the girls, they only get uh four or four rounds, yeah. Yeah, so um it's good to see her there. Um, all right. Uh next week we had the QMP. Um and like I said, MX1 is kind of done and dusted, but MX2 is not a foregone conclusion just yet. And um, same with the final spot on the podium for MX3. Uh so forget championship, who's gonna finish wearing the championship because that's largely sorted. Um where who's gonna be what's QMP gonna be like? It's gonna be a bit I I feel like it's a bit Appen-esque sometimes. If Appen gets no rain, like if Appen's dry and hard, is it Appen-ish?

SPEAKER_01

Depends. I I feel like last year or the year before they added a heap of sand to it. Yeah, and and it was kind of a different QMP, but it it gets them long, big, hollowed out hills with the long ruts. Like last year we had ruts for 20, 30 odd meters. Yeah, uh, I I think it's a pretty good racetrack, to be honest.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I with our laps that we do, and I've got to ride ruts this weekend. Straight ruts to have a more I'm almost certain that I've crashed every year that I've done the track preview there. Um it it is it is more of a technical track as far as the rut side of it. It can be fast, it can be rough. Um, it depends on the track prep. And I know that the Sunshade Sunshine State series that they just had up there, it was um not very good. So I'm sure they'll turn it around for the the National, the ProMex. Um, but it's a hard track, it's it's one of those ones that really test the riders out. They've got to be on their game to be able to ride it fast. Um, some guys will shine and others will fail a bit, but I think our main players are all going to be able to do it. It's gonna be who does it the best. And yes, there is some points in those two classes between the riders that need to have some luck going their way, but Q and P is one of those tracks where that could happen, it very well could happen. So certainly not a foregone conclusion yet. Um, but yeah, Q and P is going to test them out, that's for sure. And as far as the the 450s, I still think they're gonna be exciting. I know the Jed's gonna want to go out with a win on top, and I know that Tanney and Crawford are both going to be pretty quick around there as well. So, and you can't count out Webster. I think it's gonna be a decent day of racing still.

SPEAKER_00

Do Webster and Tanty, are they buddies?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think anyone hates each other, not each other, but they don't ride together. No, but I think they'd say good A. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think there's a a lot more friendship, I guess we could call it friendship between the guys at the moment, yeah, in in the racing, yeah, than what I was used to. Yes. Um, agreed. Yeah, I th I don't think there's too much hatred out there. I think they're all pretty good.

SPEAKER_01

I think too, like knowing Kyle, it'd be pretty hard to hate that guy. Yeah, correct. And literally the name of the Tanty's insane, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I've always had good chats with Tanty, and yeah, Kyle's an absolute legend. Um I think we'll look they're on the same number of points. So I would just be curious to see who's willing to really push the envelope. Um, they ride pretty clean, they're both clean riders. Everything on the weekend passing each other, there was nothing dirty, there was just awesome riding.

SPEAKER_03

So I think there's a lot of respect in that class between all those top guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think you'll see the same thing this weekend, but obviously one's got to do better than the other, and anything can happen.

SPEAKER_00

And because they're on the same points, there's no cat or mouse, it's pretty much just beat the other person. So you don't need to slow down, you don't need to be you know pulling any Hayden Deegans out of your pocket. That being said, come Moto 2. If one of them gets a few gets a few riders between them two themselves in Moto 1, Moto 2, they need to make some points up. But yeah, I can't see either of those guys doing it. But that's gonna be epic. They're both on 274 points. Uh, and so if you're out there on at QMP, we'll all be there too. Um, watch that battle. It'll be uh between the number one and the number nine, and it's gonna be epic because they're gonna want to take it, uh take that second spot for sure. Um MX2, like we said, Larwood's pretty much got it done, but um Kingsford's gonna have a he's gonna have a shot. You know, he's gonna go at it hard. We've seen that attitude, it's gonna be pretty epic. Um and I feel like based on what we saw on the weekend, it's not like we're going to a completely foreign sand track or something that's gonna be unusual and throw a whole nother winner in the into the works. I think he'll be one of those guys. Uh so that yeah, that'll be exciting. And then um, yeah, like I said, can Riley can Riley hold off a fast charging Seth Morrow? He's gone for the last three motos, he's won pretty comfortably. Um, and he's gone back to back in terms of round wins as well. So uh Riley's gonna have to be on his game to keep Seth Morrow from taking that last step on the podium. That's gonna be a good fun watch as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think that's where the real interest will be for that one. Uh still a few points in that for well, even the MX2, MX1, there's still those points. It's still gonna be a pretty interesting day to keep an eye on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, definitely, definitely. And the the women are back there, and have we got 65s or 85s there too?

SPEAKER_03

I think there's a whole host of other classes as well. Two days of racing, sir. I'll tell you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what we got? We've got MX1, MX2, MX3, MXW, Vets, Briggsy, Cammy, you're gonna have a bike up there, mate.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm not ready for that. I'm off roading this year, so MX65 Futures.

SPEAKER_00

Briggsy, you're race fit, mate. You've done the whole AEC season. You're close to a podium for his finish in vets in an AEC. I keep crashing. Actually, you know what, too? I think Boydie took our long-term YZ 450F up there with him. So, you know, Briggsy. It's not too late, mate. You can go up there. We we've dressed it, dressed it up like Jed Beaton's bike, too. So it's got the number 14, it's got the pro circuit. People will think you're Jed Beaton. No, they won't, because I'll be in 30th. Uh well, I definitely will never be racing it. I'll be up there watching it and enjoying it. Uh, it's gonna be an epic round. If uh anyone listening to this this week, make sure you get out there. I love it that they've gone back to back with these Queensland rounds. It kind of builds a bit of a vibe up there. I know Boydie and a whole bunch of the teams, they're all staying up there for the week. Um, like I said, we'll be up there. We've got a uh motocross launch actually with Yamaha uh two days afterwards, and we're getting the opportunity to do that, so that'll be kind of good fun. Um, but it's yeah, if you're out there, make sure you get along to QMP. It's gonna be an awesome, awesome final wrap up of the series. You can go and see Jed Beaton uh and congratulate him on his championship, and then the other uh championships will be decided out at QMP, so make sure you don't miss it. Hammy and Briggsy, thanks for coming on again to wrap up the uh round seven of the Primex. We've got one more to go, and uh yeah, we'll see you next week.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds good, thank you.
