I Came For Butterbeer And Left With Ten Thousand Steps And A Churro Debt

A bonus detour to Universal Orlando turned into the perfect stress test for smarter park days. We started by moving from Dockside to Aventura to cut down those end-of-day slogs, then leaned on the water taxi to clear security early and land near the Studios gate. That single shift—optimizing hotels and transit—changed our pace, our energy, and how much fun we could fit into each window.

Inside the parks, the skyline felt strange without Rip Ride Rockit, a visible reminder of how fast theme parks evolve. So we followed what was thriving: the Bourne Stuntacular’s seamless stage-to-screen choreography, a refreshed wave of Back to the Future and Universal Monsters merch at the Five & Dime, and the underrated power of hydration. Florida’s Freestyle machines offer free water and ice, so a passholder cup with electrolytes became our all-day superpower. On the food front, we split plates at Mel’s, Fire Eater’s Grill, and Comic Strip Cafe, sampling more without burning budget or energy. Pure serendipity put us curbside with AJ Adventures just before the Mega Movie Parade, proving once again that the best theme park moments often start with a friendly hello.

We tackled ride strategy with clear eyes: Hulk for the adrenaline reset, Spider-Man and Transformers for still-excellent tracked-simulator thrills, and stepped into Gringotts for the atmosphere. Men in Black looked sharper, and timing the red button finally paid off. We also break down when single rider lines are actually slower, how to think about VIP tour value with passholder discounts, and why late-night plans can unravel if you don’t confirm water taxi hours. To finish, we shopped smart—ship-to-hotel and ship-home options lighten the load—and grabbed standout souvenirs like a 40th anniversary Back to the Future hoodie and a handled refill cup that actually helps you last the day.

If you’re planning Universal Orlando, you’ll leave with practical tactics: which hotels make movement easier, how to hydrate and pace meals, what rides to prioritize, and how to avoid the pitfalls that waste time. Subscribe, share with a friend who’s park-bound, and drop your best Universal hack in the comments—we’re collecting the tips that make the next trip better.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to a special bonus episode of Have You Seen the Movie Podcast. Today we're stepping out of the theater and into the sunshine because Joe just got back from Universal and we need to hear everything. The rides, the butterbeer, the screaming, the survival. So buckle up, keep your hands, arms, and feet inside the vehicle at all times, and let's dive into Joe's theme park adventure.

SPEAKER_01:

Cinnamon toast and tacos 444. Well, I just got back from Universal Orlando. Without me. Next time. Yeah, hopefully in January. January. It's not gonna be January. It's February. It's the end of December. As soon as possible. See you tomorrow. Yeah. My wife walks in. You two are going to an all-expense page. Considering we already bought the tickets, we're almost there. Right. Yeah, so we stayed at dockside uh the first night. Uh we had the whole week booked, but it was a little farther than I wanted to be. Yeah. Because some of the hotels, I mean, they're really nice hotels, and we had a really great view of the pool and all that, but it was just so far back that we didn't want to spend all day walking around the whole park, and then you get on the bus. And you know, by the time it's it's nighttime, you kind of have to walk to the the very end. Yeah. Um, we try to get uh moved to somewhere closer and they just they were booked up. So we looked online and found a better rate at Aventura, and so we moved over there the next morning.

SPEAKER_00:

So when you when you did that then, did you did they like refund you the difference or how did that work?

SPEAKER_01:

So we pretty much paid for the whole the whole trip up front. Yeah um and they just refunded us um what we you know we for the basically charge us for the first night and uh refunded us what we had paid. So okay, gotcha. Yeah, it was pretty easy peasy.

SPEAKER_00:

They refunded you in churros, yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_01:

So I have a very many churros to eat still.

SPEAKER_00:

Although we did have some later on. Yeah, from the Velociraptor churros hand.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Um I managed to get a um how you how how to train your dragon uh key from Aventura. So that was exciting. Yeah. The initial uh the initial cards they give us. It was uh I Angela got the the Velocicoaster one. Oh yeah. Yeah. I always like to see what what hotel keys I get and collect them. Do they give you different ones for different resorts or um sometimes you can ch they'll let you choose. You can even ask. But they they have they're basically just whatever themed on the rides and things like that. So gotcha. The funniest one is the Fast and the Furious, because like Vin Diesel's arms are in a really weird position. Oh yeah. So so we moved to Aventura. We had a nice room. Um, those rooms are always nice. I haven't had one that you know was was bad. Yeah. Uh and Aventura is really cool because it's sort of in these like pods, so that they're in threes, they're in kind of sections, and so if you get a room that's really far, you're not walking too far from the elevator. So it's just it it's a really nice uh hotel to move around in. Gotcha. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Cause when we stayed before, like you and I stayed at uh I think that was Cabana Bay. That was Cabana Bay, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

It was just across the street from Aventura.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay, yeah. But um but yeah, when you and I went and I treated you for for a night. Um I like I liked it there. I thought it was really cool there. Um that was the first time I've ever stayed at a universal property because I lived so close by that it was never worth it to to stay over there. Yeah. And so so yeah, that was the first time. Um but yeah, like from where the bus dropped you off all the way like inside and down to our where our room was, was such a long walk though, because it it probably added I mean five, ten minutes just walking to our room through the resort.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. And uh that's kind of why I like Aventura and um uh what's the one next? I always forget the one Sapphire Falls, yeah. Because Sapphire has the water taxi at the bottom, and you essentially go through security there, and then you can ride the water taxi over to the the uh gate, yeah. Which makes a huge difference too. Yeah. I wish there was more ability to do that in other hotels, but yeah, um, you know, but that's that's what we like about Urban Tura.

SPEAKER_00:

It's well, and it's one of those things that it's a privilege that you pay for, you know, to to skip the general crowd because all of the buses drop you off right in front of the main security, yeah, and then the water taxis drop you off most of the way through City Walk. Yeah, makes a huge difference.

SPEAKER_01:

If you're going straight to studios, you're right there. Yeah. Like you just go up some stairs and you're right at that huge gate or the the globe. Um, and so yeah, start taking pictures, you're there, right? Yeah. Um yeah, one of the one of the things that you know was kind of weird to see this time around, and you could see it on YouTube. Um, I follow Rick's Flicks and uh Pew2 and some others. Um I'm not sure if you watch which ones you watch on YouTube, but uh looking at um the Vol not the Velocicoaster um Rip Ride Rocket. Yeah, oh man, it's so gone. It's just so empty. It's just it's just this big hole. And uh looking at where when you come out of kind of the minions area, when you'd go to your go to the left, like to go to the entrance of riprade, I mean it's just gone. You know? Wow. It's yeah, it's just surreal. Like having been there so many times and just expecting to see it. Right. It's just this uh yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it was kind of a chill trip. We made some visits to customer service, and you know, we just kind of made our way over to uh the Bourne stentacular. Yeah. And uh we had to do that right away because it was like, you know, it was just good timing that we showed up. It was like five minutes till. So yeah, all right, let's go. Yeah, and we still had time to sit around and wait for the pre-show and do all that. And nice um got dumped out into the gift shop, of course. Of course, yeah, and then so much, so much new Back to the Future merch, right? Is there in the five and diamonds? Like nice, yeah. There's a new vest and jackets and things like that. Yeah. Um, some cool uh monster themed uh hoodies and stuff. Like I like the Frankenstein stuff. I I really liked his whole shtick, you know.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, because they don't do just Frankenstein, they also have the bride there too, so that's fun.

SPEAKER_01:

So it's like a yeah. I've we've thought about kind of getting me and my wife getting kind of matching like Frankenstein bride stuff, but PJs and things.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Um because on the opposite side of that, the uh horror makeup show also dumps you into the five and dime, right? Yeah. So yeah. So yeah, it's funny how they kind of have it split down the center and the two sides are more themed to to that movie or or not movie, but whatever is the side of what you're doing.

SPEAKER_01:

Right. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, there's plenty of born merch too, like backpacks and kind of I don't know. Um what else is there? I mean, there's just I was gonna say they got a little in everything on there. Yeah. Kind of military type stuff or like hiking or stuff you'd use for hiking and bottles and whatnot. So our bottle wasn't working, so we considered buying one. Oh yeah. Yeah, because yeah, it's it's hard to walk around when you don't have an extra bottle. Yeah. Um, because you know, you get free water and free ice. Right. Unlike the Hollywood studios, the last time I was there, um the the freestyle machines at in Hollywood, yeah, um, the Hollywood Universal Studios doesn't do free water and free ice.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, yeah. I wonder if that's a Florida thing because of the like heat and like you know, sun there. It's just so intense. I wonder if they're required to provide it for free.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. You know, I would think that in California just as much, you know. Yeah, does it get as hot there? Oh, yeah, I get pretty hot. Excuse me. Well, I grew up there, so right, you would know. Yeah. Um, yeah, I don't know. That should change. They should change that.

SPEAKER_00:

But it it's yeah, that's super interesting.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, it's a little different when you're there because you're having them buy water and and or find I mean they have some like water fountains, yeah, but you can't get ice. So it's just uh but yeah, Florida it's pretty pampering. You can go to a freestyle machine, get free ice and water, and at least stay hydrated that way.

SPEAKER_00:

Right. Um does does Hollywood have the the freestyle machines like they do at Orlando, where they're just kind of everywhere?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Um it didn't feel it doesn't feel like they're everywhere like in Florida. Gotcha. Um, but they're around.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, because that's the nice thing about the Florida ones, is that they are just everywhere. And so anytime you want to drink or something, or you go ride a ride, so your cup has to stay in the locker and you have to dump it out. You know, then people don't dump it out and it leaks down onto your stuff, and oh anyways, anyways.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. But yeah, if you stay, stay hydrated, you can walk around and and refill like and it's like what every five, ten minutes or something like that.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's something like that, but say there's a time window to it, but it's also a pretty short time window, so yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I mean you can basically fill up, drink, get on a ride, come back, fill it up again. Right. You know, it's so I feel like it's worth it, especially if you're there for a couple days. And um they have we we drank a lot of Power Aid or whatever it is, um, to stay hydrated. So you get your electrolytes in. Yeah. Yeah. That makes a huge difference. Yeah. Especially with some of the food, kind of salt bombs. Right. You know.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Well, that's where the flavor is too. So yeah, we tried different burgers. Um I'm trying to remember which ones exactly. I think we're so I think the first set we were at Mal's. Yeah. And we tried one of those burgers. Um we got I got the chicken, the fried chicken sandwich. Uh, and then she got a burger and we just kind of split them. Nice. Um so when we got out of five and dime, walked down the street right when the parade, like it was like maybe 15-minute window for the parade to start.

SPEAKER_00:

For the the great movie parade.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, the uh mega movie parade. Mega movie parade. Yeah. Yeah. And so I was looking for um uh I was looking for a place to sit. And the cool thing is most of the time when you you know come across people in the park, generally people are nice. Yeah. And luckily, I ran across some Brits. And and um he was sitting there alone, and it's um Andy and John of AJ Adventures.

SPEAKER_02:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Um, so I saw him alone and I was like, hey, my wife and I need somewhere to sit for the parade, and you know, we're we'll just wait it out and get up if you need, but do you think we could sit there? And he was like, Oh yeah, come and sit down, you know, like come and hang out, and nice, just real cool dude. And uh, I noticed he had uh one of those USB mics on his, you know, kind of his shirt. Oh yeah, prolapel mics, yeah. And I was like, Oh, are you a are you a vlogger or a blogger? Or you know, and he's he gave me his Instagram and it's AJ Adventures, and they're on YouTube as well. Yeah, but uh, but yeah, it was really cool to just hang out with them, see what their story was. This you know, they're like it seems like they're pretty much here for like the month, and yeah, they're going to um so the first couple of days that I we saw them that we while we were there, they went to islands and they went to uh studios and then they went over to Disneyland, Disneyland and all the other Disney places that I haven't been over to Disney World, yeah, yeah, Star Wars Land and all that, Galaxy's Edge, yeah. That's my bread and butter. Exactly. Yeah, I'm not even like I'm not even familiar with Disneyland anymore in California because I haven't been in so long. Man, sounds like we'll have to make a trip. Twist my arm. Sponsors, pay attention if anyone if anybody wants to give to our Patreon. But yeah, we'll definitely plan it out because California is easier for me because I have family there and places to stay. Right. So which would be so cool. It's not it's not much of a drive from where my family lives and all that. So we're gonna plan it. You heard it here first. Did you really ride many rides while you were there? I did. Um, especially since you said uh ride velocicoaster, it'll get the snot out. And did it. Well, here's what the thing was. We I hope you sat in the back row. I didn't get on. Oh here's what happened. Velocicoaster single rider was at capacity, but the regular line was 45 minutes.

SPEAKER_00:

I was gonna say this the single rider for so many of those rides is longer than the regular. Yeah, and I was like, well, and it's because groups get into the single rider and make it really long. And so then when it's truly a single rider waiting, uh-huh, then it's so much longer. Um you know, they jump in that because they think it's gonna be shorter and then it's not because it's you know, on those roller coasters, like each row has two seats in it, and usually people travel in even numbers. Right.

SPEAKER_01:

And so yeah, people don't get the concept of single rider, and um, so I didn't get on VelociCoaster, yeah. Um 45 minutes though is not a bad way, yeah. It was just we were trying to because I was sick, I I wasn't wanting to stay in any lines too long. Totally get that though, and I don't want didn't want to overexpose people either to what I you know, but uh in studios I got on Gringotts a couple of times. Um we got on Men in Black. I was gonna try to get on Simpsons just to kind of go over it again, you know, just to kind of get a refill of how bad it is. You know, it's kind of like I tell people, I I told the uh AJ Adventures people, I said, just try some just try everything once, you know, like of course Fast and the Furious, don't put it on your top 23, you know, like like ride the caricature, um the little caricature where you sit down and the people draw you first before you ride the bench fast and the furious. Like um, that's how much you should put it off, but I it's like I bet Moe's uh tavern seats are are better than yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

But um that's what like from like living over there, I never did the Fast and Furious ride. Like I just never did, yeah, yeah. And then like when you and I were there, I wanted to go do that, and it was closed for for maintenance, uh-huh. And I was just like, go figure, yeah, the one time, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

When we went that last time, it was such a yeah, not the best time. Well, I'm sorry, I did what I could, yeah. Well, things were glows, it's you know, like but uh so I'm trying to think of anything else in islands, but I got on the Hulk. Um, that was my test of trying to get get the snot out. Yeah, that was the best way. Um, you know that it's not the smoothest ride. I got on Transformers and Spider-Man, which are essentially the same. But they're so good. Yeah, and they and they've updated, like especially with um Spider-Man, they've updated the screens and stuff. Oh, since we were there, yeah. Oh really? And it seems like Men in Black has been updated. Uh it seems like the screens are like even like in the mummy where the screen is a better screen, but the video is still the video for it is what the video is, you know. There's no like upscaling or anything, but 480p. Right, right, yeah, yeah, instead of 480i. But uh so it seems like Men in Black got updated at some point. I didn't I didn't notice the last time we were there, but this time it seems like that's cool.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, so and uh Yeah, after our podcast episode, like I I've been itching to go back and check it out now that I've actually watched it and now can like you know more comprehend like the everything.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, see all the Easter eggs and yeah, and even now I I I realize when they tell you to hit the button, the red button, and you know, I just never realized that they told you to hit the red button. So I was like getting low points and everybody else is getting more points, and I was like, why?

SPEAKER_00:

So I I did pretty good this time. Well, and like with the red button too, it's either first person in your car to hit the red button or everybody hits it at the same time. Okay. If you hit it at the same time, everybody gets the points. Oh but if you don't, whoever hit it first gets the points. Okay, that's yeah, and so super hard. Yeah, have to work on that. Right, because each car is six people, and so it's like unless you go with six people, yeah, or just get lucky later in the day and have you know a car with only your group in it, yeah, which sometimes happens, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

You know, it's up in the air with that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's one of the funnest ones because the theming is still cool to the movie, and yeah, even the the gift shop is is kind of cool still. And um the yeah, the just just the whole thing. I I wanted to try to get a VIP, but we there was only like certain days that we were able to. Yeah. We couldn't we couldn't do it on the day that we were leaving.

SPEAKER_00:

Gotcha. Yeah, trying to because they take for that, they take you down onto the the floor of the um what what room is it? It's just like the MIB central, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

Office central kind of thing.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, you can get get up close and personal with the everything down there and photo ops and right, super cool if you can do that. Yeah, yeah. So and then the VIP. Did you try telling him you had a podcast?

SPEAKER_01:

No. I'd like you to know I have a podcast. Right. Who doesn't? I'm doing one right now. Seriously. What's that? Yeah, another two white guys on a podcast. That's unheard of. Hey, I'm Hispanic. I have a card.

SPEAKER_00:

Two guys on a podcast.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah, exactly. See, but but our dynamic is I'm old and you're young, and there's a difference. Yeah. As opposed to like two old guys who are trying to survive by doing a podcast. Right. Just one old guy. No. Uh but you're like doing yourself favors on that. Yeah. Yeah, it's uh yeah, I I've seen kind of the videos on it, and you know, like they have food all day, and you know, they like they basically give you breakfast, lunch, and dinner for what for the VIP.

unknown:

For that.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, you're talking about like oh the full VIP thing.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, I would have been so mad if you did that without me. Yeah, well, we'll have to plan it with the three of us, but yeah, that would be super cool.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, because it it's it it goes up and down in rate depending on the does it? Yeah. Kind of the busy of the season. Mm-hmm. And then because we're pass holders, like you get a discount. So it's nice. But but yeah, they give you food and you show up early in the morning, they give you breakfast, and then you go and meet with everybody, and everybody decides where they go, and then you can do both uh both parks, or you can just do one um you know, one day or whatever. It it's probab it's looking at it, it's probably more beneficial to do both um parks. Yeah, because it's it's cheaper than doing one one day and one another. Gotcha. I got to go on quite a few rides. Um Greengotts was down one day, so we at least got to go into the bank and check that out. Oh, really? Yeah, so we just gotta take pictures inside the bank and kind of see.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, they still let you go in there? Yeah, even though it was down, huh? Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01:

They were like, oh, you can go visit. And they actually had I don't know if it was because the ride was broken down and there were so many people in there, but they had or because Halloween had just happened, but they had a whole bag of snacks. And so like we just got some fruit snacks out of the bag and some candies, and that's cool. I know, so there it was pretty cool going in there. Um and then the first night um we went to eat at um cowfish, and we got uh sushi. Nice. We kind of got uh they have these plates now where it has kind of a medley of things, yeah. That's good. Yeah, so you get to try different things and in the center is the burger. Right. And man, it's a pretty good burger for a sushi place. Nice, like you know, and it's good sushi too. So uh and then we ended up closing the park. Did you? So we were supposed to watch Back to the Future at 10:30. Yeah, it did not start till maybe 11:15. Like what? Yeah, and we got there really early just to like just to hang out, and we didn't really have much else to do. So we had dinner, walked over to the theater. By the time we got out, it was just before one. And we're like, nobody's around. So we her and I book it out of the theater, and then we see this this bike rolling up to us, and we're like, I'm like, what the heck? So security stopped us, and like, where are you going? Oh really? Yeah, I was like, Well, I'm trying to get the the water taxi. They said they're open till two, and they said no, they shut down at 11 45. Oh man, so we had to take the bus back, yeah. Um, just the the the normal, you know, um hotel bus. Right. But uh yeah, so we ended up going down there, um, you know, going back all the way, and then we were the last people, so we just waited for a while, like till maybe 1 30 or so. Oh, that's so late.

SPEAKER_00:

I know, I know, and and uh it's funny because you said that you're the old person, but I'm always the one that's like, oh, it's nine o'clock, I can go to bed.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, and I figured, you know, we start back to future at 10 30, 10 45. Yeah, we're not gonna be out that late. We'll have enough time to, you know, whatever. Because generally the city walk is open pretty late. Right. And so with it ending so late, starting so late and ending so late, it was like oh man.

unknown:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So slept in late and we figured, you know, we weren't gonna do the whole 10-hour park day. Um we stayed until maybe eleven and and got breakfast and Starbucks, had our coffee, nice, strolled into the park, and then just kind of had our day. Yeah. And strolled around and had food and nice, you know.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, chill chill park days like that are always nice.

SPEAKER_01:

And islands we end up going to Islands first for lunch because we hadn't tried like the Swarma or the Euros and stuff like that, so we decided to go into there. I forget what it's called.

SPEAKER_00:

Oh, it's pronounced gyros.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, yeah. Oh I heard people ordering gyros. I'm like, Are you serious? Yeah. I'm like, just pronounce it E-U-R-O. Yeah. But uh yeah, but we had we had some some good food. The fire eaters grill. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Oh, over in the Lost Continent.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Cool. Later on in the day, we got like um a burger from the Comic Strip Cafe. So yeah, we had like we shared a burger at Comic Strip Cafe. We went to the uh Passholder Lounge and got a new cup. Nice. I sent you a picture of that.

SPEAKER_00:

You did, and I was trying to imply that you should get me one, but you didn't. That's okay.

SPEAKER_01:

I yeah, I sorry, I didn't pick up on that. That's okay.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I am well kind of like it kind of drives me crazy though, is because like I'm a collector and I like to collect things and waste my money, but that's neither here nor there. Yeah, and uh and like when I first started going to Universal years ago, I really wanted to get into collecting the the freestyle cups. Uh-huh. I'm like, I feel like that'd be so cool to be able to, you know, take it back and use it and have a whole line of them. And then I got the first one, and then I never liked any of the ones since. Yeah. And then you sent me the that one, and I was like, of course they have the good ones after I leave. Yeah. I mean, it it is awesome. It black and silver. Yeah, and it has all the like the classic universal stuff on it, yeah. From you know, more from when they opened. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

I did um I did notice like I feel like they are doing a good job at like having a lot of merch based on their original IPs. Right. But they don't have around anymore, and that's a real shame. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

And hopefully, like with demand and supply, like maybe with one of these open areas, they can kind of well because I know like with ET, like it was one of the original, you know, opening day attractions, and it kind of got a resurge in popularity. And so they they spiced it up a little bit, you know, redid some of the lighting on it and stuff. Oh, okay. So yeah, keep it up.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Yeah, that's one we missed for some reason. Um I don't know why. Yeah. But yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

You didn't want to hear E.T. garble your name.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a you saw the video of that guy who put in two different names and he answered. Liz. Yeah. Yeah. Liz and Anya. Liz Anya.

SPEAKER_00:

We should do that.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. We should.

SPEAKER_00:

You can be. I'll be ham. You can be burger. Ham burger. Right. Of course we'd mess it up, so it'd be burger. Because that's our luck. Yeah, exactly. Well, because don't when you hand it to the person, they doesn't it like get scanned in pretty much backwards too? Like there's a way that they do it that he had to like he had to like follow a certain order. Yeah. Hand it to him in a certain order.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, we had a good time in um like superhero island or yeah, superhero island. Yeah. Just walking around. Um took a lot of pictures in in um like Daigon Alley and Yeah. Just yeah, because being there a little later, um, because you know, we're from Montana, so we generally come when it's lighter.

SPEAKER_00:

Right.

SPEAKER_01:

And so being there where it's when it's a little darker, it's cool to take pictures there.

SPEAKER_00:

You know, so we got Hogsme's really pretty when it's lit up too.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. But yeah, because the castle and they have all the yeah. Yeah, so I was there when um is it Michael Gam how do you pronounce it? Gambin. Gambin, yeah, who played Dumbledore um passed. And then when Robbie Coltrane passed, um it was dark and it was lit up. Yeah. And and so it was kind of cool because they had the lights and everything early. You know, so everybody raised their wand to the castle and and so that was kind of a cool tribute. Um it's cool that they do a lot of that stuff. Yeah. Because if you're a Harry Potter fan or kind of have that, you know, you just see people walking around in robes in the middle of the summer. It's like me growing up in high school wearing long johns in California in the 90s.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, I think I you know, I think I was there when they did Michael Gambin's one. Okay. But we yeah, we didn't know each other at that time. Yeah, should look in the picture, you're probably there. That'd be crazy. Yeah, I would.

SPEAKER_01:

The twilight zone. You have entered a park. Are you looking now? I'm looking now. Um distracted. I just gotta look for the tallest person in the crowd. Curly hair, tall person. Oh, there you are. Anyway, um, yeah, overall is good. Like I said, Aventura always treating us well. Um food was great there. Yeah, so our last day there, we we didn't have very long because our flight was so here's the funny thing. You get these notifications from your airline saying, show up three hours earlier. Yeah. And you get there and nobody's there, you know. So it's like, hmm. So we we kind of paid attention a little more to the notifications and just pushed it. And but we we got there kind of early, yeah, and and just did a good good walk around. We we like to shop at the end of the day. Generally, when it's a longer trip, we've kind of taken advantage of um universal uh you can take all the stuff that you bought to your hotel or to one of the stores, yeah, and they'll give you like a lower shipping price. Oh, really? Yeah, it's like a just like a park deal. And so it's like depending on how much you spend, it's X amount to ship.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

And and so it's it's a really good deal.

SPEAKER_00:

So walk up there, they're like, hey, big spender.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, exactly. Yeah, the last time we still have a box that my cat likes to to hang out in because the last time we were there, we ordered so much stuff. That's so funny. Well, your cat has good taste, yeah, universal box, exactly. But uh yeah, so they get something out of it too. But yeah, we we walked around, shopped, and we bought kind of secret Christmas gifts for each other. Nice, and uh, because we'd walk around and say, Oh, I like that, or whatever, and then we just went back and got stuff. And um, so but this time because it was such a short trip, we didn't pack as much clothes, so we had enough room for merch for some goodies. Yeah, I got I ended up getting an eight-bit um back to the future hoodie. Yeah. And it's kind of like um it's kind of like you're playing a video game, and it's like on the back it says like you know, player one and all that kind of stuff. Nice. So it's pretty cool, and then on the front it says 40th anniversary to back to the future. That's cool.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. Yeah. We'll have to see if we can post some pictures on on the socials. Okay.

SPEAKER_01:

Um yeah, and I bought my wife a little kind of like a Hello Kitty cat that she liked. Like a little square black cat. Yeah. And uh got a couple other things, and yeah, didn't didn't go too crazy. Yeah. But yeah, got some good stuff. Like I said, the universal um cup, the past older cup. Yeah, that was that was one of our it was like not a need, but it was like, okay, that's a cool cup. That's a cool one. Yeah, and we were also wanting, because since we have like an older cup, we we bought it just before they put out the ones with the handles. And so we wanted one with a handle. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

But the lid on yours is so much better than the ones they do now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's still usable, so we can bring them. Right. Well, cool.
