THIS IS WHERE I LANDED With Shayla
I’m Shayla — and this podcast isn’t a soft reintroduction anymore, it’s me walking boldly into the woman I’m becoming.
This is where I unpack what it really looks like to figure out life as a 30‑year‑old woman — my tastes, my boundaries, my walk with God, my evolution, and the glow up that comes with choosing myself on purpose. It’s where I turn my healing into art, my lessons into laughter, and my becoming into something honest, intentional, and beautifully mine.
Each episode blends raw soulful storytelling, spiritual grounding, aesthetic strategy, and emotional truth. I talk God, growth, glow‑ups, crash outs, clarity, healing from trauma, boundaries, and the wild, gorgeous reality of becoming a woman who finally knows her voice — and uses it.
No filters. No fluff. Just 100% real!
If you’re rebuilding your life with intention, alignment, and a whole lot of audacity, welcome home — this is your landing space.

Weekend recap, weekday reset, and your unofficial Vegas tour guide reporting live. I’m giving you the full rundown because Vibe Distribution is officially back in rotation and a time was absolutely had. From the Mad Apple show at New York New York on the Strip to the full Fremont Street experience, I’m here to be your virtual Vegas tour guide, the friend who tells you what’s worth your time, what’s giving energy, and what you can skip.
I’m also sharing how my week kicked off, the importance of dance as release, rest as restoration, and being mindful about what you’re consuming spiritually, emotionally, digitally, and energetically. What you take in shapes how you show up, so be gentle with yourself and extend that same kindness outward. Community matters, and Monday’s prayer line was the sweetest reminder that we’re held, supported, and surrounded.
I’m thankful for you on the opposite side of this audio, and I’m proud of myself for continuing to show up for Shayla. The progress is real, the growth is loud, and my best is still unfolding.
I’m closing out with the verse of the day, a grounding reminder to release what’s too heavy to carry alone.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Give it to God. Let Him hold what was never meant to sit on your shoulder

Remember, you are that guy, you are that girl, you are whomever you choose to be. Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
Hello, hello. This is where I landed with Shaylin. I'm so happy to have you here. If this is your first time landing with me, well, hello, hi, welcome. And if you are a return lander rocking with your girl for a hot little minute, as always. Hello, babe. It has been a weekend, honey. Okay, let me give you guys a little recap. We're just gonna dive in and get straight to the point because uh hello, we don't have time to waste. This weekend was fun. Asia and I hung out. I believe I told you guys that was the last little update is Asia and I were gonna hang out, and we ended up going to Mad Apple, the Circus Soleil, at the New York, New York, and that was so much fun. I you know, Vegas is known to be the entertainment capital of the world, and sometimes I forget about that, and I just am living in my cute little town, 20 minutes outside of it, and um act like it doesn't exist because, like I said before, if you live in like the Vegas area, you technically try to avoid the strip that's not somewhere that you want to go unless you have like um visitors in town, and then that's when you typically go because of course you want to give them the Vegas experience and you want to walk the strip and you want to take them to all the different you know hotels and see all the things and blah blah de blah and blah blah blah. And um, we were originally gonna hang out with one of our other friends, but she had to do a little rain check, and so we were like, Okay, well, let's not do dinner because I mean we're always doing dinner, and how many meals can a girl really eat? A lot, I know, but we were like, let's do something a little different. So we ended up grabbing tickets to go there, and I didn't necessarily know what to expect, I just knew that it was a Cirque du Soleil, so I kind of had an understanding, but not really for this particular show. Um, and it was a really cool variety show, framed and centered around New York, and if you are new here, your girl is from Nueva York, honey, born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Um, and so that was pretty cool. Again, the uh show is held at New York, New York. Um, so it kind of makes sense. Again, it is called The Mad Apple. It starts off with Alicia Keyes's uh uh, you know, like New York, and it's funny because the last time that I was in New York, uh for Christmas and New Year's time, I actually went to go see Alicia Keys play Um Hell's Kitchen, and obviously that song was in there, and it was also the start of the show, and so it was just really sweet, and it warmed my heart to just like hear that because I again I didn't know. Um, and so yeah, I always love like little things like that that are just specific to me and just like my background, you know, and it's just like okay, great. So a lot of like the show's um theme was New York. Um, they had comedians come out in the middle of it, they had uh like aerial dancers, they had this one girl, so cool. She was up in the air being held by some sort of contraption to her hair. Her hair. I was like, what? Oh my goodness, that was pretty cool. They had these other two aerial dancers, um, that were like more so quote unquote, like real aerial dancers, they were not held in, you know, up by their hair. Uh, they were actually working like the little aerial holding contraption. Again, I don't know what these things are called, so I'm just giving you my Shayla review um of what I interpret these instruments to be. But they also had boguing in the uh like show, which was really cool. They had some like little basketball moments where they were wearing obviously blue and orange, like excuse me, like the New York Knicks, lots of singing, which I love. It kind of gave Broadway show, but not Broadway show on the strip, so that was pretty cool. And then after uh we ended up oh wait, how can I even Okay, there's this one guy that came out, and he was a tennis instructor from Finland, and he had literally like the little white short shorts, the you know, like the white t-shirt, he had the headband, his hair looked a little crazy, and he let us know that he was double-jointed, and so his uh set was going to be him trying to get himself through tennis rackets that you know obviously the wiring was out, and they were two different sizes, one was smaller than the other one, one was larger than the other one, and he was going to try to get himself through the tennis racket. When I tell you guys, I have not seen anything that funny in so long. And if you are ever, I mean, if you're ever in Vegas, I highly recommend going to see Mad Apple at the New York, New York. It is again a cirque de soleil, it also is a variety show, so it's gonna be a little bit different every time. And I hope for your sake that that man is on the bill, because when I tell you, I laughed so hard that I could not breathe. I mean, Asia were cracking up. I also really enjoyed that it was very interactive in a way where the um the people on you know like onset are kind of like literally like running around in certain um certain moments and coming in and out of the actual floor. Um it was a lot going on at some points just because it's a variety show, so there's a little bit of everything all going on at once, so it's like your eyes don't necessarily know where to look, but no matter where you look, like you still got a show, especially when they were doing like singing performances and things like that. Um but overall I really recomm I recommend it um as a show. If you even live here, tickets were under a hundred dollars. The theater is a pretty good size to where no matter where you sit, honestly, you get a really, really great view. Um and yeah, I highly recommend it because we had a ball. Um, and then after we ended up going down to Fremont, meeting up with some friends, and that was a really great time. One thing about me is I love all people, and when you're on Fremont, especially the Fremont experience, again, if you've ever been to Vegas, you know what I'm talking about. If you've never been here, well, you're welcome. I'm giving you a play-by-play of what it's like. Uh on Fremont Street, it's downtown, it's very touristy. Excuse me, and there's this like big, huge canopy where there is like uh electronic show going on at the top. There's music everywhere, there's people if you like there's people walking, um, there's little like side performances where people are actually doing like their own little thing where they have like their little um radios and speakers. There's you know, like um what are they called? Like they're like little drummers, but they're not drummers because they do it on like uh paint bot like things. Again, it really gives New York to me. That's how the best way that I can explain it. Um, but basically there's like side performances everywhere, people playing music, people dancing, uh street performers, basically, is what I'm trying to say. Um, and then as we were walking down more, uh, we ended up running into like this beautiful group of Mexican people that were dancing to Mexican music. And I love, I really do love Mexican culture, I think it's so beautiful. And I was just so happy to just be I was like surrounded um by just so like such genuine happiness, like everyone was just so happy and they were dancing. And so, what did I start doing? Dancing by large because uh hello, why would you not? If you have the opportunity to move your body, I always say this moving your body is so freeing and it is so healing, and to be around such happy, joyous people, you kind of get those vibes too. And yeah, your girl was dancing, Asia was dancing, we were having such a good time. Um, and yeah, like it's just such a nice community moment where you know you're just welcomed in, and I love that. It also reminds me very much of where I grew up in New York. I grew up in the Bronx, so it was very much like diverse in the mix of um black people and Hispanic people. So for me, it's just like I always just feel so connected to Hispanic culture and heritage, just because again, like it reminds me a lot of you know my upbringing. So that was really fun. Um and then we got some food wings at Cerca, and Circa is a 21 and up uh casino and hotel here, and it's like one of the biggest um sports bedding casinos up on the top of it. It's like uh it's called Stadium Swim, and they have these massive like screens where you can watch sports um and swim in the pool. It's such a little vibe. Um, and so yeah, I mean, hello. Am I selling Vegas to you on the opposite side of this audio? It's really fun, really cool. We had such a great time. Um, and then Saturday I I told you guys already. Um Taylor and Ashley came and we had such a good time um at the pool just hanging out. That was so much fun. And then on Sunday, vibe distribution, shout out to the Justice Jackson and the Vibe Distribution Company. I know I have not talked about vibe in a hot little minute because this was their first one of 2026, and your girl was there, front and center, ready to dance, and I had such a great time. It is so beautiful to be in community and to see just all the beautiful black people dressed up, looking good, smelling good. Okay, I smelt no bad body odor. I smelled no bad body odor, people's arms were up, dancing, moving, everyone smelled good, which I love because I hate, and mind you, it's like 80 degrees. I cannot stand being places where people should have deodorant on and don't have deodorant on. It is too hot. We live in the desert for you not to be wearing deodorant or having I had the world's smallest bag. Literally, I took my ID out, and the man was like, That is the smallest bag I've ever seen. I had deodorant in there, I had two cards, my ID, three lipsticks, one eyeliner, a chapstick. Like, there's no reason why people and guys, you can literally put deodorant in your pocket, okay? And girls, obviously, it should be in your bag, but yeah, we had a ball, it was a day party, and so yeah, I haven't been to a day party in a hot little minute, honey. But there were multiple DJs which I love, so the sets were fairly different, the vibes were different, but so good throughout the whole night, and everyone was just dancing. Of course, at one point there was an electric slide that justice uh actually was like instructing the people to ride, to the lift, you know, like very cute, and yeah, it was just so fun. Uh what have you been doing that's fun? What have you been doing that just brings you joy? This weekend was such a good weekend, and I'm so grateful for it because it was just so needed. Sunday morning I woke up, I had slept in. Um I woke up like a little bit before 11, and I was able to literally catch the church service online. It was live, which was also great. I rewinded it to the very beginning, so I caught it from like literally the start of worship to the end with the benediction, sending the people off for the day, Lord. Okay, and it was great. I my Sunday was really, really great. If you guys don't know, I love Sundays. I love Sundays, and uh that was just it's something about going to church, which I truly do enjoy and love, but then there's also something about having church in my apartment because remember, the church is where you are, wherever you are is where the church is at, and I think that's something that we forget is that like also remembering too that you will be the only Jesus that somebody sees, and I know I've said that before, but it's just something sitting with me to just remind you that you will be the only Jesus that someone sees, and I think that that is really important. I had a few people reach out to me this week to ask for prayer, and that is so beautiful. I love that, right? Because it they know that they can come to me um to be able to share that and to be able to be there for them um in that way and in such a beautiful community type style, and I absolutely love that. I love that. Um, and then Monday, you know, Monday's always gonna Monday. I did join um the prayer line, and there were a good amount of people on the prayer line uh on Monday, which was really beautiful because there hadn't been that many people in a while, so it was nice. Um, and I got on, I shared a testimony about one of my friends that I had been praying for and asking them to pray for on the prayer line, and it was just so beautiful when I shared her testimony of their reaction to the testimony, and again, it just goes to show how lovely it is to be in community with people, even something like that, where I don't know these people, and I join well, I know some like I know like two people, and my grandma's on there, but um I join the prayer line. I'm the youngest person on that prayer line, I know it for sure because one, I can hear it in their voices, um, and my grandma put me onto the prayer line, and it's one of her pastors. Um, and yeah, when I shared, you know, just where she was currently versus where she was when I first started asking for prayer, so many people were just like, Oh, thank you for sharing. We're so happy to hear that for her. You know, like God is good. Like, they were just really happy, like genuinely happy for somebody that they don't even know, that has never been on the prayer line, that I've just been interceding for. And yeah, I ended up texting her and just letting her know, like, hey, just wanted to share. Like, I shared your testimony on the prayer line because she knew she knew that I had been um praying for her, you know, just me praying, but she also knew that I was asking for prayer for her on the prayer line, and she was like, Oh my god, that's so sweet! Like, I could cry, and I just you know, I think it's so beautiful to share things with people to let them know, like there's people out there that are rooting for you and that love you and that care for you that you don't even know, right? Like, all of you on the opposite side of the audio, I don't know all of you. I know some of you that listen, but I don't I don't know some of you. There are people that listen to this podcast in cities and um that I I have no idea like where you came from. Um, but I'm so so happy that you're here. I'm so happy that you are on the opposite side of the audio, and please know that I pray for you. I pray for everyone on the opposite side of this audio. You know that you are well, that God is taking care of you, that he is protecting you and guiding you, keeping you safe in good health and out of and out of harm's way. Um, you know, that there is something that you hear here that can bless you in some way, teach you something, give you a good laugh, lighten your spirits when your spirits are heavy. You know, those are the things that we need in this time where the world is just so heavy. It's so important to just be the light. Be the light. Why not? There's so much darkness, so much division, right? We have rumors of war. There, I mean, there's not even rumors of war anymore. There's war that we are seeing. There are people losing their lives all over, you know, like it's so much devastation in the world. We need to be the light of the world, we need to be more like Jesus. I always pray, make me less of myself and more like you. Make me less of myself and more like you, because our flesh will eat us alive, basically, and it will, especially if you allow it to. So you have to, and and the world will eat you up, the world will eat you up and spit you out. It will, and it's so sad, you know, how the world can make people hard and and cold, and it doesn't have to be that way. We don't have to allow our circumstances to dictate and change who we are. If you want to be, you know, someone of just good goodness, like someone that people see something in you that they are attracted to that they gravitate toward because there is a light in you. I always talk about having a light inside of you on this podcast because it is just something so different about carrying a light that people can see, and also not allowing anyone or anything to dim your light. And I received a message that said, do not basically don't allow anyone to dim your light. Don't let anyone dim your light. Don't let anyone or anything dim your light. And yes, life will try to take you out. Like I said, life will chew you up and spit you out, honey. But what do you do in those moments where it is difficult, right? And where it is a lot and where you're overwhelmed. How do you how do you respond? And it kind of goes back to the atmosphere of faith uh sermon, right? And that question, um it wasn't necessarily a question, but like a phrase of in the midst of disappointment, pain, right? Like, how do you respond? And it's just like, you know, some days are gonna be good days, and some days are gonna be bad days, but still show up as your best self to yourself and to others. I always say, be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. You literally never know what people are going through, and you can really make or break somebody and not even know it. And someone can make or break you and not even know it. I mean, there were days when I was really struggling that just the kindness of other people got me through the day, and because I know what it's like to be at a low, okay, when I say low, I mean low. Okay, like I know and understand how my light and positivity and kindness really can impact and affect somebody else. So I'm always very mindful. I'm always very mindful of that because I never want to make someone feel bad. Oh my goodness, one of my friends, he was uh he posted a workout video and I had made a comment on it, and it was a joke, and I thought it was funny, and he thought it was funny too, but then today he ended up um he put a video on his story and he was talking about how people have been making jokes about him being in the gym. Um, and he was like, and he's basically like sick of it, and I DM'd him and I was like, um, like basically, I'm sorry that I made that joke. Like, um, and he's like, Shayla, please know, like I appreciate our friendship and I appreciate you, and you're Always just so kind and always like uplifting. He's like, You were not included in this post, and he was like, and I thought that your joke was funny. And I'm like, Okay, good, because when I heard that, I was like, Oh my gosh, like I'm one of these people that made a joke, and but again, right? Like, luckily, because he knows my heart, and he knows me as a person that and okay, again, like he thought it was funny, so I wasn't included in that, but immediately I felt bad, and I was like, Oh no, so I was apologizing. He's like, No, like you're fine, like so small things like that. I don't know, somebody needed to hear that, so I'm glad that I was able to share all of that, but yeah, also another thing, oh, excuse me, is please allow your body to rest. And I don't just mean at the end of the day, when you've done all your work and you've done all your chores and you've been a mom and you've been a fiance and you've been a girlfriend and you've been a dad and you've been a son and you've been a husband, you know, and you've worked really hard for the man, LOL, and you get home, and you know, now you gotta cook dinner and you gotta clean and you gotta read, and maybe you're in school and you gotta study. Um, you know, please take time to rest because your body needs it. Your body needs more than sometimes that eight hours, six to eight hours, five to eight hours, some of y'all don't even sleep. Uh yeah, clock it. I know. Um, yeah, some of y'all don't sleep. And you know why you don't sleep? Let's talk about it. Because when uh Taylor, Ashley, and I were at the pool, we were talking because Ashley was saying that she hasn't really been sleeping. And I asked her, I'd said, Well, what do you do before you go to bed? And she said, Well, I'm on I um I think she said TikTok, because she's not on Instagram, so TikTok. Basically, she's on the phone scrolling, and I said, Well, how do you think that you're gonna be able to go to bed after you've consumed all of that, all of that? Like, and she's like, Well, sometimes I just will watch YouTube. Well, how do you think that you're gonna go to bed after you consumed all of that? I've told you guys this before. Consumption is the root of all evil. You have to be very careful about what you are consuming and how much of it you are consuming. I highly recommend creating a nighttime routine for yourself where you don't have any screen time, at least within the last 30 minutes before you lay your head on that pillow and go to sleep. Detach from your phone. Literally, everything that you want to see will be there tomorrow. And guess what? There will be new things. And I hope that you're not just so attached to it to where you're like, ooh, I can't let go. I have to see what was posted today and what happened. You don't, because guess what you're gonna see on there? I'm sure you're gonna see something about the war, depending on your algorithm. I'm sure you're gonna see some sort of news. I'm sure you're gonna see something about someone being killed. I'm sure you're gonna see something about you know someone being hurt. I'm sure you're gonna see something funny, hopefully, depending on your algorithm. You're gonna see something that will you'll learn. You're hopefully see a few Bible verses, fingers crossed. Um, and yeah. Oh, yeah, and you're gonna see people's lives that could or could not make you feel bad about your own all before you're gonna go to bed. And guess what? Are you gonna be able to sleep? No, why not? Because you just saw war, and you just heard that somebody got killed, and you just saw somebody get hurt, and you just saw somebody that has something that you don't have, and now you're up in the bed contemplating life, trying to compare yourself to somebody that you don't even know, whose photos on Instagram are all completely edited, but her butt is bigger than yours, and she probably got butt filler, but hey, we don't know, do we? We can just we just assume because that's what we do as people, we assume, and guess what? I know you heard it before. When you assume, you make an ass out of yourself, but we can't help it because we are consumed by all the things that we see, and it is a detriment to your mental, physical, spiritual, and mental well-being, babe. And I need you to stop, I need you to stop, I need you to put the phone down, and I'm about to literally delete Instagram again just because it's too much going on in the world, and it's just a lot, like it's just a lot going on, and even if you're on Instagram for five to ten minutes at a time, right, like you're still consuming a lot, and so maybe if you're one of those people, right, like maybe you think about taking a break. Um, you know, deleting the app during the day, and or I don't know, whatever works for you, but consumption is not good for you, especially before bed, because you're not gonna rest, and again, your body needs the rest. So, what can you do to prepare your body for the sleep that it needs to wake up in the morning and actually feel rested? You know, one thing that I do when I have dishes is I will wash the dishes in the sink before I go to bed until that's my window. Um, I also sometimes just like play um loafy beats with no words. Um, I'll read just things that will help to slow down the mind. I don't, you know, again, whatever works for you. Whatever works for you, but yeah, that's really it for me. That's like my midweek check-in. I know I told you guys that I'll be doing that, so here we are. I haven't done one in a hot little minute. Also, I stumbled upon a new show on Amazon Prime, and why was the show so good that I had to literally pay to not have ads? I know, I couldn't believe it either. Um, but it's cross on Amazon Prime, and it's a detective show, and ooh, is it good? I said, wow, and I've seen it before and I've wanted to start it, but I just haven't been in a space to start a new show because what the heck? But I just was like, well, we're just gonna relax today. Excuse me, and uh watch the show, and so I got through three episodes, and yeah, I'm hooked. The second season just came out, so it's number three on uh Prime, and so I was like, Oh, let me just go ahead. I was like, I think I was almost completing episode one, and the ads were really getting me. I cannot do the ads. That's why I also I love the fact that on YouTube TV I can um record so all my shows that I like, I record them so then that way I can watch them back and fast forward through the commercial. I just cannot, I don't I just need to get straight to the point. I need to just consecutively get through the show. But anywho, that's the Shayla thing. But I know some of y'all feel the same way where the ads just really blow your mind, and it's like especially when the show's getting good now. You gotta no, I can't. Uh-uh. Nope. I don't want to wait one minute and 30 seconds, or I don't want to wait, no, I don't want to wait. I don't want to wait. I just want to watch the show like it's a movie, low-key. Um, but yeah, I hope something landed with you there. Whether it's to go have fun, whether it's to take yourself out, whether it's to do something with a friend, whether it's to share good news, whether it's to just be nicer to yourself, to other people. I hope that something landed with you and that it sticks. And I want you to share this with your friends, with your family, with whomever. Um, and yeah, share the pod on Instagram and TikTok. You can find me on those. Uh on can't speak. On both of those at landed pod l-a-n-d-ed-d-p-o-d. That's where you can find me. That's where you will I will be. Episodes drop Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 3 a.m. PST, 6 a.m. EST. Um, and yeah, we are getting down to the final episodes of this season. Season, um, all landopod seasons produce 31 episodes in total. And uh yeah, this will be episode 20. So we will have I cannot believe that this is gonna be episode 20. Wow, I'm so proud of myself. Can I just say that before I go? I can, thank you. I'm just so proud of myself for just being consistent and also just showing up, you know, for myself. This has been something that I've wanted to do for a really long time, and I finally started it last year, and it has just been so filling for me in so many ways, and it has shown me that I can do hard things and that I can put myself out there, um, and that yeah, that I am exactly who God says I am, and for that I am forever grateful. As always, be kind, okay. Seriously, I'm not kidding. Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Remember, okay, you are that guy, you are that girl, you are whoever you choose to be, okay? Whomever you choose to be. Also, really quick, I want to read the verse of the day. I talked to my grandma today. We were on the phone for like 40 minutes. My girl, I love her. Um, Proverbs 3, 5 through 6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek Him, seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Remember that. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to Him, and He will make your path straight. Okay? He will let you know. Give it to God. It's too heavy for you, babe. And that's okay. Just because something is too heavy for you to hold, for you to carry, doesn't mean that you're weak. It means that you are in a place where you can surrender. And the best thing that you can do is surrender whatever is holding you, whatever is hurting you, whatever is no longer serving you, giving it to God and letting him take it, and he will do exactly what you need him to do, exactly at the perfect time. So just remember that. As always, I love you.
