THIS IS WHERE I LANDED With Shayla
I’m Shayla — and this podcast isn’t a soft reintroduction anymore, it’s me walking boldly into the woman I’m becoming.
This is where I unpack what it really looks like to figure out life as a 30‑year‑old woman — my tastes, my boundaries, my walk with God, my evolution, and the glow up that comes with choosing myself on purpose. It’s where I turn my healing into art, my lessons into laughter, and my becoming into something honest, intentional, and beautifully mine.
Each episode blends raw soulful storytelling, spiritual grounding, aesthetic strategy, and emotional truth. I talk God, growth, glow‑ups, crash outs, clarity, healing from trauma, boundaries, and the wild, gorgeous reality of becoming a woman who finally knows her voice — and uses it.
No filters. No fluff. Just 100% real!
If you’re rebuilding your life with intention, alignment, and a whole lot of audacity, welcome home — this is your landing space.

Grandma Said What You Needed To Hear

We have a very special guest on today’s episode and she is coming in hot with wisdom, love, and that prophetic grandma anointing. I’m sharing a piece of a conversation my grandma and I had the other day, and I want you to listen as if she is speaking directly to you. Let her words pour into you the way they poured into me.
Sometimes all we need is a reminder from someone who has lived, prayed, endured, and believed their way through life. A reminder that steadies you. A reminder that pushes you forward. A reminder that you are held.
In times like these, in a world like this, encouragement is not optional. It is necessary. So check on your people. Love on your people. Remind them they are not alone. And hear me clearly: you are not alone either.
Faith and belief will carry you farther than fear ever could. Trust what God is doing. Trust what is unfolding. Trust that every word spoken over your life is already in motion.
Trust and believe, and so it is.

By the time God finished you'll be a change young lady. Amen. He's gonna change your your lifestyle. Thank you, Jesus. Yeah. Yeah. He's gonna fix it. That's right. He's gonna fix it. Soon or later. You know. He's gonna let you search and let you search. And he can fix it himself. Mm-hmm.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01He's a he's a mind fixer. Yeah. He the he the only one can change their mind. And he's gonna change it too. Watch and see. And you can say grandma told me that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I already just say that. I already say it now.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm like, I say it now. I'm always talking about you on my podcast. Okay. Yeah, I'm like, the people know you for sure. I'm like, I'm always talking about you because you helped my faith. Like have like seeing you and like all you've experienced, and like you still have joy and you still have peace, which is insane.
SPEAKER_01Like that's what I'm searching for. Got to have peace. Yeah, you have to have peace. When I talk to you, I don't talk to you to bat mouth you. No, no, no. I talk to you to encourage you. Let you know it's greater thing out there, you know. Yeah, and what God loves. And these are the things that God loves. God loves a true believer. You don't go around here and do this and do that and say you belong so Almighty. No. You don't work like that. I can't tell you something good, work well, I'm not gonna tell you nothing at all. And I know God is all God is good, and God is gonna send somebody your way, girl. He's gonna send somebody your way, and you will say, What is he, whatever I went, and I went that way, but sometimes you got to go that way to learn a lesson, you know, when you learn a lesson, hey, nothing happened until you learn. When you learn, can you say I didn't know the grass was green over here? I didn't know the grass was green, yeah, but the grass was green over here, and this was made to be able and till the Lord takes me home. That's right, that's right. You're pretty girl, thanks for you're a pretty girl, and you're a nice girl, and you have to you if you I want you to have all the things God got it for you. God got those things for you, but you have to want those things too. Yeah, but this God's gonna fix it, God's gonna make you say who's the boss.
SPEAKER_00Who's the boss? Oh, he's sure, because I'm in control of not a thing. At this point, I'm just floating in the wind. Wherever God takes me is where I'm going. I'm like, I'm like, why not? Like, I'm gonna try everything. Like, I'm gonna start learning new things. Yeah, like I'm gonna use this time wisely because I'm fully aware that yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'm like, I know what God is doing. Yeah, yeah. And I'm gonna let him do it. Yeah, I'm like, I have worked really hard and this is my moment. Yeah, I'm like, God did not bring me this far just to bring me this far. Never never aware of.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm like you, he brought you this far. Look how he brought you. He brought you so far. Believe me when I tell you. Well, you got your but you're not really close with her, you know. So therefore, God is bringing you this part, believe you. And he ain't gonna put some honey. By the time God gets through with you, I pray God I'd be a wrong. So I can say I told you. Oh, I don't like to cry. I told you, I told you. So now you see. I told you. You thought I didn't know what I was talking about. Oh, I know you don't. I told you. I'm gonna say you're somebody who's nice to you, who nice, because you're a pretty girl and you deserve every bit. Nobody have to know where you've been. When you been at that's your business, huh? You have I hear you. Okay, that's right. God gonna fix it, he's gonna fix it for you. That's right. You work hard, and God gonna fix it.
SPEAKER_00That's right. Grandma, what do you think what has I just feel like your faith is just so crazy? But that's because you've just been through so much. So it's like you're yeah, so it's like you have to rely on something other than yourself to be able to get you through. And I that's what I do. Like, I know like I'm fully aware that like I rely 100% on God because I'm like, I cannot rely on myself. So it's too difficult.
SPEAKER_01This guy, you need this guy, you need him. I would not tell you you don't need him because you need him to come in your life, yeah, and he needs to fix it, and he the only one can fix it. Yeah, we cannot fix this thing. God has to fix it, and when God fixes it, you don't have to worry about it. Yeah, that's the thing. Because it will be right, yeah. We'll be right, that's right. Yeah, so sometimes sometimes we confuse, we confuse about ourselves, but God gonna come and God gonna send this thing out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00God gonna put who you want, who you want to to be there, you know, but also just what he wants. Just a magic wants, yeah. Just a magic. You want me to find somebody so bad and I really need you to stop. Yeah, like girl, yeah, no, oh you can go. No, honey.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait on the line.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm waiting. I'm waiting. Yeah, don't worry. No, girl, you are more worried about me finding somebody than I am right. I like girl, I don't know. When the person comes, the person comes. Yeah, well.
SPEAKER_01Well, in blue time. So funny.
SPEAKER_00No, and I believe that one thousand percent. Yes, yes, he's gonna fix it, yes. But I grandma, but I am more focused on not finding like love will come, grandma. But I'm trying to make some insane money, okay? I cannot be uh uh uh unless they're coming in to invest in my business. I don't really have the time. I hear you. Well, all right.
SPEAKER_01The song writer said, Let Jesus fix it for you. Oh let Jesus fix it for you. See, you ain't gotta lie. Because when this man comes, this man gonna break up all this thing, and he can fix it the way he wants to fix it. So we just gonna wait on it, yeah. He'll fix it all. Yeah, he'll fix it. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Lovely, he's gonna fix it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're gonna have to love the loneliness. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00You would think that I the way that you tell it, you would think that I'm like over here literally like miserable. Just like, oh Lord, send me someone. Like, grandma, I am having the time of my life by myself. Like, I've already been in relationships. I'm not trying to rush to get into a relationship. Okay, so don't rush to be lady.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm not gonna rush you. I'm gonna let God fix it. Okay. If God fixed it, then I don't have to worry about it. Lovely. What are you gonna make for no tonight? He he'll make the decision. He said I made you, and I know all about you. Didn't he say that? He did. I read that before. All right, when the time is right, somebody's gonna come from no way because the time is right.
SPEAKER_00Okay, thank you so much, Krima.
SPEAKER_01That would be the right time of day. Or the right time of the night. And he said, leave it to him. Cause he will fix it. And I know he's gonna fix it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Hello, hello. This is where I landed with Shaylin. I'm so happy to have you here. What you just heard was a true conversation with the one, the only JT. And I wanted to share that with you guys because one, I'm going into the closet. I was not in the closet, but I'm like, you know what, why not? That's what you just heard. But I wanted to share that with you on the opposite side of the audio because all of us sometimes need encouragement. And my grandma is always there to encourage me whenever I need it. And as you guys know, your girl is definitely in a transition period, a transformational stage in my life where I am extremely excited about. Um and I am seated in expectation, knowing that God is going to do exceedingly abundantly above all that I could hope, think, or imagine. And I'm very excited for what God is going to do in my life. And one person that I am very thankful for to have in my life to speak life into me and to motivate me and to be all over my business, honey, okay, is my grandma. And I'm thankful to have someone like that in my life that one has so much faith. So much faith. Oh my goodness, so much faith. And to me, that is really inspiring to be able to know all of the things that she has gone through, um, you know, and just overcome it shows me that I can also get through things and that I am an overcomer, and I know that I am. There are already so many things that I have been able to get past and work through. And it's by the grace of God, and that's one thing that my grandma always, you know, excuse me, who's saying it's you know, it's God, it's not her. And even with myself, I know that it's God, I know that it's not me. I've told you guys that thousands and thousands of times at this point. Nothing that I do, nothing that I am, nothing is without God. And I'm thankful for that. Today I had a conversation with one of my friends that I haven't spoken to in a hot little minute, and it was really nice to speak to her. And in the conversation, it was me encouraging her, and that made me want to share the conversation that I had with my grandma the other day because I had recorded that conversation just because I wanted to be able to have that. I wanted to be able to be able to listen back to that. Um you know, because life is short, right? And when you no longer have your people physically here, there are things that you, you know, like I can go back to to have those memories of them. And one thing that I love and adore again is that is having those conversations with my grandma where she is just pouring into me and really honestly prophesying over my life because you know JT is tapped in, okay? And I'm trying to be as tapped in as she is with the man upstairs, and I wanted to just share that with you on the opposite side of the audio. And I hope that you can take something there and think of it, think of it as she is speaking to you. You know, maybe after you listen to me popping in and saying hello, you know, that you go back and you listen to it as as if she's speaking to you. And I hope that even before I'm saying this, that as you were listening to her, you felt like she was speaking to you. And that was kind of the whole idea. Is a star as if it's there in a conversation just the two of you. And I hope that you were able to gather some encouragement from my grandma. I always come on here, you know, dropping jams, speaking facts, doing all the Shayla things, okay, but sometimes it's really special to be able to hear from someone that has really really been through it and that has such faith. I mean, I have faith. I do, and my faith is strong, and I'm thankful for God and all that He has done in my life, but it's just something about a praying grandma, right? Like, and isn't she so cute? I just I just love her. And so I'm always talking about my grandma on the pod, and I wanted you on the opposite side of the audio to be able to experience her and to get that warmth. There's so much going on in the world right now, and it is impacting and affecting a lot of us more than we realize, and what more comfort can one ask for than a grandma? And so I wanted to bring you some comfort, I wanted to bring you some joy, a little giggle, um, also, and just some gems from someone who is just so pure and just such a light because, like I said, there's so much going on in the world, there's war, there's famine, there's uh a lot. I mean, there's so much going on, and we're just expected to just keep going as if nothing is happening. You know, it's rough. And there's a lot of people all over that are struggling, mentally struggling, physically struggling. There's people struggling with illness, right? Mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally. Um and people are trying to heal in the midst of all the things that are going on in the world right now, people are just trying to heal themselves, and it's difficult. And a lot of people don't get the opportunity to have a break. A lot of people don't have the opportunity to get encouragement, a lot of people don't have the opportunity to just breathe. And we're just like in this constant, like hustle, hustle, hustle. I have to do this, I have to get this, I have to make this, I have to it's like it lets it take a moment. It lets it take a moment to just breathe. And if you are new to the pod, I use it to breathe on the we used to do breathing exercises together. And I also apologies, I'm very stuffy. The allergies are really getting to your girl, but um I was watching a Bible study today and uh the girl that hosts the Bible study, she breathes at the beginning, and she was just saying, like, breathing helps with uh or did help because she no longer uh is experiencing uh anxiety or depression. But when she was having uh anxious episodes, that would be a way for her to calm herself down. And here on the pod, I have also shared that breathing has definitely helped my uh journey, my healing journey. Um, especially when it came to just like having those anxious feelings in the past, being able to breathe and just center myself and also just like calm myself down was huge. And it is something that I still actively practice, especially during uh yoga, which is an intentional mindful practice that like you are breathing a lot and you're focused on your breathing and all of those things. And I just want to remind you on the opposite side of this audio to breathe, to breathe, it is going to be okay. It is going to be okay if no one has told you and you have just been going through, running through walls, going non-stop, being a mom, being a father, being a wife, a husband, a daughter, a friend, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, whatever, right? Like just being, just being existing as you are. It's hard. Life does not stop for anyone. It keeps going no matter what you are going through, life keeps going. And that's one thing that I've learned in my life existence, is it does not matter what the heck you are going through. Your life could personally personally excuse me, be falling apart. Like you just are at your wits' end, you can't do it anymore. It's just so overwhelming. And life, everybody is living life still. Right? They may be struggling, their life may be falling apart, it they may be, you know, at their wits' end, but that is this is an unfortunate culture that has been created to where it's like you just don't stop. And it sometimes seems like nobody really cares what other people are going through. And I'm just here to remind you that I care. I care deeply about what you are going through, and I know that weeping may endure foreign night, but joy comes in the morning. You know, I know those things to be true because God has shown up for me time and time again, and really having that, I've shared this before, having something that I can tether myself to to keep me anchored other than myself has been life-changing. And also remembering too that you might not have the faith to be able to get you through certain things depending on where you are with your journey, what you believe, all those things. Again, you believe what you believe, I don't I don't judge you. If you believe in the universe, the stars, the moon, different whatever. Hey, as long as you believe in something is really all that I personally care about, but we all know over here I rock with the G-O D, okay, because the man upstairs gets me through. However, I believe that believing in some thing other than yourself will get you through. Okay. And I know that God has gotten me through time and time again. And even in this season of my life, right, which is what my grandma and I were talking about, um is knowing that like being faithful that God will provide because he sees that you are doing what he is asking of you and being patient and being really also I wasn't gonna say resilient, but resiliency comes with having faith, I believe. Like I'm very resilient. I bounce back and I bounce back better every time I've told you guys this. Um but that is nothing but God, that has nothing to do with me and everything to do with him. And so yeah, I just I wanted to share that with you. I wanted to give you a little bit of encouragement, and of course, I just could not help myself to not say something to you on the opposite side of this audio to pull it all together, but also just to remind you. That you are not alone. And I know that this world is scary and we're all growing up. Even at 30, I'm still growing up. What the heck? And we're experiencing new things for the very first time. We're falling in love. We're falling out of love. Our hearts being broken. We're being healed. We're being restored. We're learning new things about ourselves, about the world, about others. We're meeting new people. We're losing friends. People are passing away. We're mourning. We're grieving. We're grieving who we used to be, who we you know, like it's a lot. And I just hope that you, on the opposite side of this audio, is giving yourself the grace that you deserve and understanding that you have never been here before. You have never been in this moment ever before. This is the very first time that you have been here. And while you may feel equipped or you may feel unequipped, just know that you have the power inside of you. You possess all the power to push forward to make whatever it is that you want to be be. Whatever it is that you want to happen can happen. Whatever you are dreaming is possible. You just have to believe and have faith that those things are possible, that God will do exactly what he said that he would do. So yeah. That's it. I hope that you on the opposite side of this audio enjoyed this episode. I hope that you enjoyed hearing from my grandma, and I hope that you go back and listen to this episode as if she is speaking directly to you. Because truthfully, she is. She's speaking to all of us. And I love that for you, and I love that for me. As always, you are that guy, you are that girl, you are whomever you choose to be. Reach out to me, okay? What the heck? I want to hear from you, I want to support you, I wanna give you all the positive Shayla vibes, okay? So follow me on Instagram and TikTok at landed pod l-a-n-d-ed-p-o-d. That's where you will find me, that's where I will be. And you can also email me, landedpod at gmail.com, okay, because uh yeah, Friday's episode, it's gonna be a good one. Do I know what it's gonna be about? No, but they're all good. You can go back and listen to any episode in any season, and a gym will drop. You will probably get a good laugh, or you will learn something about yourself through my test and testimony, and just use me as a mirror to be able to reflect upon yourself because we are in this together, and I am here for you. I really wish that I was not as nasally as I am, and I know when I listen back to this, I'm gonna be irritated, honey. But your girl cannot breathe through her nostrils because, again, the allergies the flowers are blooming and it's pretty and all of that, but like I cannot smell, so oh my goodness. Okay, I'm out of here. I love you.
