Order My Steps: The Christian Journey
Life is a journey of steps—some certain, some uncertain, some guided, and some misdirected. My own journey began in darkness, behind prison walls, a place where hope seemed lost and purpose hidden. But even there, God was at work.
I was sentenced to ten years in 2000, served four years in prison, and completed the remainder on parole in 2012. During that time, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was in prison, in the quiet of my heart, that I first encountered God’s presence. I realized that even in the darkest places, He was ordering my steps.
This book is a journey—a roadmap for anyone seeking to walk faithfully with God. Through Scripture, personal testimony, and practical lessons, I want to show you that no step is wasted when God is guiding your life.
Order My Steps: The Christian Journey
Walking Free: From Chains to Choice with Rev. Cory Young
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Freedom isn’t a finish line we crawl toward; it’s an open door we’re invited to walk through today. Reverend Corey Young unpacks the gap so many believers feel—saved yet still stuck—and shows why the gospel declares freedom as a present reality, not a future prize. We confront the familiar chains of guilt, fear, addiction, and the past, and then reframe the fight: you don’t fight for freedom—you fight from it.
We ground that truth in Scripture, tracing how Romans 6:14 shifts our footing from law to grace and how Galatians 5:16 gives us a daily roadmap for Spirit-led living. Rather than white-knuckling change, we learn to pause, pray, and let the Holy Spirit answer temptation. This is where the practical work happens—small choices that add up to a new way of life: responding instead of reacting, surrendering instead of controlling, declaring truth instead of echoing lies. Along the way, we replace perfectionism with progress and stop mistaking rattling chains for unbroken ones.
You’ll hear language you can use when doubt hits, questions that expose the habits keeping you stuck, and a simple rhythm for walking free moment by moment. We close with a focused prayer over guilt, shame, and addiction, and a clear charge to lift your head, square your shoulders, and live the freedom Christ already purchased. Freedom Declared, Problem Named
SPEAKER_00Freedom is not just a dream, it's your inheritance in Christ. I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young, and this is Order My Steps and Change Life in Christ. Too many of us are saved but still stuck. We've been forgiven, but we're still walking around in chains. Chains of guilt, chains of addiction, chains of fear, chains of the past. But Jesus did not go to the cross just to give you religion. He came to set you free. And whom the Son sets free is free indeed. So today we're going to talk about what it really means to walk in the freedom in every single day of your life. Freedom is already yours. When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave, he didn't give you the possibility of freedom. He gave you freedom itself. The prison door was open the moment you said yes to him. But here's the issue. Some of us are still sitting in the cell, even though the door is wide open. The enemy loves to trick us into thinking freedom is something that we have to earn or achieve. But as a child of God, you don't fight for freedom, you fight from freedom. It's already yours. The key is learning to walk in it. Every time the devil whispers, you'll never change. Remind yourself, I already am changed in Christ. So start declaring your freedom before you even feel it. Freedom requires letting go of old chains. You can't hold on to Christ with one hand and cling on to the chains with the other. Freedom means release. It means you stop carrying what Jesus already carried to the cross. That chain of guilt, it's broken. That shame from your past, it's covered. That addiction, it may still tempt you, but it no longer owns you. Paul wrote in Romans 6 and 14, Sin will have no power over you. You are not living under the law, but under God's loving favor. Ask yourself, what chains am I still holding on to out of habit, fear, or comfort? Whatever it is, bring it to Jesus, drop it at his feet. Don't polish the chains, release them. Freedom is maintained by walking in the Spirit. Freedom is not about what you leave behind, it's about how you live going forward. Galatians 5 and 16 says, live by the Holy Spirit, and you will not do what the sinful old self wants to do. The Spirit of God is your guide, your guard, and your guarantee of freedom. Walking in freedom means every day you listen to his voice, follow his leading, and rely on his strength. You don't have to figure this out by yourself. God gave you his spirit so you can live free. When old temptations come knocking, don't answer in your own strength. Pause for a minute. Pray and let the Holy Spirit answer for you. That's how you stay free, moment by moment, step by step, in the Spirit. Here's our daily inspiration. Freedom is not about perfection, it's about progression. You may stumble, but you're still free. You may have setbacks, but you're still free. The chains may rattle, but they are broken in Jesus' name. Don't let the enemy convince you to put the shackles back on. Christ didn't save you just to see you bound again. He saved you to see you sore. So lift your head, square your shoulders, and walk in freedom of Christ that He's already purchased for you. Declare it right now. I am free, I am forgiven, I am redeemed, and I am not going back to the chains of yesterday. Let us close out with the word of prayer. Father, thank you for the freedom we have in Christ. Lord, help us not just to know about it, but to walk in it daily. Break every chain of guilt, fear, addiction, and shame in the lives of your people right now. Fill us with the boldness of the Spirit to say no to sin and yes to you. Let every listener rise today with the fresh confidence that they are free and free indeed. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Thank you for joining me today on Order My Steps, A Changed Life in Christ. Don't just hear about freedom, live it. Let go of what Christ has already broken and walk boldly in the Spirit. If this message blessed you, share it with someone who needs a reminder that freedom is possible. Until next time, keep walking by faith, keep living free, and remember your steps are ordered by the Lord.
