What if the valley is the very place you grow strongest? We open the door on trials most of us hope to avoid and reframe them as sacred training grounds where God refines character, strengthens endurance, and roots faith so deep that storms can’t shake it.

Guided by James 1:2–4 and Romans 8:28, we trace how testing moves belief from theory to trust, why endurance is spiritual muscle you only gain through resistance, and how God’s presence is steady whether you’re in the pit or the palace. Joseph’s detours become a living map for anyone navigating delays, betrayals, or closed doors, showing that the route to maturity often runs through pressure. We talk about the difference between conditional faith and consistent faith, practical rhythms that keep you rooted—prayer, Scripture, worship—and the surprising ways praise can rise even when tears don’t stop.

You’ll hear clear, memorable lines to carry into your week—pressed but not crushed, stretched but not broken—plus a closing prayer that asks for strength to endure, wisdom to learn, and peace in the middle, not just at the end. If you’re facing a storm, this conversation offers more than comfort; it offers a framework to see purpose, build resilience, and trust that your steps are still ordered by the Lord. Welcome & Theme: Growing Through Trials

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to another powerful moment here on Order My Steps, A Change Life in Christ. I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young, and today we're diving into something every believer faces, but few of us truly understands, and that's the trials of life. You see, all of us love the mountaintop, but we grow in the valley of life. It's in the fire where God refines us. It's in the storm where he strengthens us. And it's in the struggle where he shows himself that he is truly faithful. So today's message is entitled Growing Through Trials. Because your trial isn't meant to destroy you, it's meant to develop you. Let us jump into the episode. James chapter 1, verses 2 through 4 says this. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. And then Romans 8 and 28 says this, and it's something that we've all quoted and we love to quote. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Trials test what you say you believe. Think about that for a moment. Trials test what you say you believe. Faith that's never tested is faith that can't be trusted. It's easy to say God is good when everything is going right. But what about when you're hurting? What about when you're waiting? Or what about when you're losing? James didn't say if you face trials, he said whenever. That means it's not optional. Every believer will be tested, but testing isn't punishment. As a matter of fact, testing in itself is preparation. When the storm comes in your life, don't question God's presence. Look for his purpose. Ask God, what are you trying to grow me through in this season of my life? In the same trials, they also build endurance. We live in a generation that wants instant blessings, but we want to avoid the process. But God is more concerned with your development than your comfort. Endurance is spiritual muscle. You don't get it without resistance. Think of Joseph. Before he wore a robe of royalty, he wore the chains of a slave. But the same God who was with him in the pit was with him in the palace. So don't rush the process because endurance is what gives your faith staying power. God may not move the mountain, but he'll strengthen you to climb it. Trials reveal what you're rooted in. When life shakes you, whatever you're rooted in comes out. If you're rooted in fear, fear will flow. But if you're rooted in faith, praise will still come out even in the pain. Trials reveal if your relationship with God is conditional or consistent. True maturity is when you can say, Lord, even if you don't fix it right now, I'll still trust you. So stay rooted in prayer. Stay rooted in the Word. Stay rooted in His worship. Your foundation determines your survival. Here's some words of encouragement. Sometimes God allows breaking before blessings. The same way a seed has to be buried to grow, your purpose may have to go through the pressure before it produces fruit. Your pain has purpose. Your tears have a testimony in them. And your struggle is proof that you're still being shaped. So don't give up. Don't tap out. God is doing something in you before He does something through you. Say this with me. I may be pressed, but I'm not crushed. I may be stretched, but I'm not broken. I'm growing through this trial, and when I come out, I'll be stronger, wiser, and better than ever. Let us close with the word of prayer. Father, we thank you for the reminder that trials are not meant to destroy us, but they're meant to develop us. Give us strength to endure and wisdom to learn from what we're going through. Lord, help us to see your hand even when we can't trace it. For every listener going through the fire right now, give them peace in the middle of it and let them know that you're working all things together for their good. In Jesus' mighty name I pray. Amen. Thank you for tuning in to another episode of Order My Steps, a changed life in Christ. Remember, your trials are temporary, but your growth is eternal. Stay faithful, stay hopeful, and keep walking because your steps are still ordered by the Lord. Until next time, I'm Reverend Corey Young reminding you God's not just bringing you through this, He's growing you in it.
