Ever tried to outrun a calling that kept catching up? We open up about the fear, detours, and excuses that make us sprint in circles—and the grace that meets us with a second chance. Using Jonah’s story as a compass, we trace a path from flight to faith, showing how obedience, not perfection, turns scattered motion into a clear mission. You’ll hear why availability beats polish, how purpose reframes failure, and what changes when you stop chasing validation and start chasing vision.

We get personal about the years spent running after money, comfort, and recognition, and the quiet moment of surrender that turned exhaustion into fuel. Jonah didn’t get it right the first time—and neither did we. Yet the word came a second time. That same invitation is alive for anyone who feels disqualified or late: get back up and run again. We unpack practical steps for acting before you feel ready, trusting God with the outcome, and letting small, faithful moves open doors that talent alone never could. Expect clear guidance, honest reflection, and encouragement sturdy enough for a hard week.

By the end, you’ll have language for the shift from approval to assignment, courage to say yes to the next step, and a renewed belief that your scars, story, and willingness can reach further than you imagine. Someone is waiting on your yes, and your obedience might ripple across a family, a community, even a generation. If this message speaks to you, hit follow, share it with a friend who’s been running from God, and leave a review to help others find this conversation. Your steps are ordered—let’s run with purpose together.

From Running To Calling

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to Order My Steps to Change Life in Christ, and I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young. And today's message is a powerful one because it hits home for me personally. See, before I stood behind a pulpit, before I ever preached a sermon, I was running. Not running from people, but running from purpose. I thought I had better plans, my plans. But let me tell you something. You can't outrun God's calling. So today's message is called running with purpose because some of us have spent years running from God. But now it's time to start running for him. So let's talk about how God takes a runner and turns him into a messenger. God can use you after the run. Jona didn't get it right the first time. God told him to go to Nineveh. He ran the other way. But I love what the Bible says in Jonah 3 and 1. The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. Somebody listening needs to hear this. God is a God of second chances. He didn't cancel Jonah's assignment, and he hasn't canceled yours. See, I know what it's like to feel disqualified, to think your mistakes ruined your ministry before it even started. I used to tell God, Lord, I'm not ready, I'm not worthy, I've done too much. But God said, Corey, I'm not calling the qualified, I'm qualifying the called. You may have messed up a time or two, but you're not messed out. God will still use your story, your scars, and your struggles to bring someone else to salvation. The same way he spoke to Jonah a second time, he's speaking to you right now, saying, get back up and run again. Purpose gives your run direction. When Jonah finally obeyed, his steps had direction. He wasn't running away anymore. He was running toward his destiny. That's what purpose does. It turns chaos into clarity. It gives motion a mission. Without purpose, you're just moving. But when you find purpose, every step has a meaning. And that's where God brought me. I was running in circles, chasing money, chasing comfort, chasing recognition, but I was empty inside. Then one day I surrendered. I said, Lord, I'm tired of running from you. Teach me how to run with you. And that changed everything. When you surrender to God's will, he'll redirect your energy. What once exhausted you will start to fulfill you. What once broke you will start to build you up. Because you're no longer running for approval, you're running on assignment. Purpose requires obedience, not perfection. When Jonah finally reached Nineveh, he preached what God told him, and the entire city repented. Jonah wasn't perfect, but he was obedient. God doesn't need your perfection, he wants your participation. Sometimes we wait until we feel ready before we step into purpose. But faith moves before it feels. If God called you to go, even if you're scared, even if you're unsure, even if you don't know the outcome, go. You don't have to have it all together to walk in your calling. You just have to be willing. Obedience opened doors that talent never could. I'm standing here as proof. I wasn't the most polished, but I was available. And that's all God needs, a willing vessel. Here's some words of inspiration. When you start running with purpose, everything changes. You stop chasing validation and start chasing vision. You stop fearing failure and start trusting the Father. You stop running from your calling and start running in your calling. Jonah's second run reached a whole city, and your obedience might reach a generation. You don't know who's waiting on your yes. You don't know who your obedience might save. So today, stop running from what God placed you in. Get up, dust yourself off, and say, Lord, I'm ready to run with purpose. Let us close with the word of prayer. God, we thank you for being the God of second chances. Thank you for chasing us down when we tried to run away. Teach us how to run with you, not against you. Give us courage to obey, give us strength to endure, and faith to keep going even when the path gets hard. Today we say yes to your call. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Thank you for tuning in to Order My Steps to Change Life in Christ. I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young, reminding you, it's not about how far you've run, it's about where you're running now. When you start running with purpose, you'll find peace, power, and a reason to keep pressing forward. If today's episode blessed you, share it with someone who's been running from God. And remember, your steps are ordered by the Lord.
