Order My Steps: The Christian Journey
Life is a journey of steps—some certain, some uncertain, some guided, and some misdirected. My own journey began in darkness, behind prison walls, a place where hope seemed lost and purpose hidden. But even there, God was at work.
I was sentenced to ten years in 2000, served four years in prison, and completed the remainder on parole in 2012. During that time, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was in prison, in the quiet of my heart, that I first encountered God’s presence. I realized that even in the darkest places, He was ordering my steps.
This book is a journey—a roadmap for anyone seeking to walk faithfully with God. Through Scripture, personal testimony, and practical lessons, I want to show you that no step is wasted when God is guiding your life.

Obedience Turns Information Into Transformation
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When does spiritual growth actually happen—when we hear the truth or when we live it? We open up a candid, practical journey from information to transformation, showing how obedience turns inspiration into change you can feel in your mind, your habits, and your relationships.
We start by reframing spiritual progress: hearing God’s word is a seed, but doing the word is the harvest. That’s why love shows up as obedience, not just emotion. Drawing from John 14:21, we unpack the uneasy truth that knowledge without action breeds self-deception. You can memorize Scripture and still miss Jesus if your daily choices don’t align with what He’s already spoken. So we move from theory to practice with a clear challenge—pick one spiritual discipline and do it consistently. Read Scripture to renew your mind. Pray to stay connected to the vine. Worship to align your heart with heaven. Serve to turn faith outward. Small steps, done daily, build holy habits that last.
We also share real-life moments when application cost something: forgiving people we would rather resent, trusting God when resources ran low, and surrendering plans that felt safe. Those choices didn’t change everything overnight, but they planted deep roots. And none of it happens in our own strength. The Holy Spirit teaches, corrects, reminds, and empowers us to live what we learn. A simple daily prayer—Holy Spirit, help me live what I learned today—can shift your responses, decisions, and outlook. Your future doesn’t hinge on the next big revelation; it turns on what you do with what God has already revealed.

From Belief To Practice
SPEAKER_00I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young, and welcome to another episode of Order My Steps, A Change Life in Christ. This is a journey of transformation, not just believing, but living what we believe. Today's episode is titled Growth Requires Application. If you're ready for the next level of growth in your walk with Christ, let's dive into what it really means to apply the word. Hearing the word is a seed, but doing the word is the harvest. Many of us know scripture. We've heard it preached, we've memorized verses, we can quote it when trouble comes, but knowledge alone does not produce growth. Truth must be planted in practice. James reminds us it is possible to hear the word, even enjoy the word, yet never live the word. Hearing gives you information, doing gives you transformation. Too many believers settle for inspiration without implementation. But God didn't call us to be spiritual spectators. He called us to be obedient disciples. Don't just hear a sermon. Ask, how will I live this out today? Every sermon is an invitation to change. Knowledge without action is deception. James doesn't say you are uneducated. He doesn't say you are unspiritual. He says you are deceived. If you hear God's word and don't obey it, why deceive? Because you think you're growing, but you're not. You think you're changing, but you're not. Information alone does not equal to maturity. The Pharisees had scriptures memorized, yet they missed Jesus. The problem wasn't lack of knowledge, it was lack of the application. Next time the Holy Spirit convicts you, don't just agree, act. Conviction without response brings no growth. Jesus says, obedience is the proof of love. Jesus even said this the one who knows my word and obeys it is the one who loves me. That's John chapter 14, verse 21. Your love for God is not measured by how loud you shout or how often you sing or how many scriptures you can quote. It is measured by your obedience. Love expresses itself through surrender. If you say you love God but refuse to obey him, your words are empty. Real love follows. Real love submits. Real love applies. Ask the Holy Spirit, Lord, what are what area of my life are you calling me to surrender today? After you do that, obey him. Here's some application. Growth is not accidental, it's intentional. Emotion might start your journey, but discipline sustains it. You cannot mature off motivation alone. You must build holy habits. You read the word, not to impress God, but to transform your mind. You pray daily, not for religious credit, but to stay connected to the vine. You worship not for good feelings, but to align your heart with the heaven. Application demands commitment. Pick one spiritual discipline, prayer, scripture reading, worship, or service, and practice it daily. Your spirit grows where your discipline flows. There came a point in my life where hearing the word wasn't enough. I had to live it. I had to forgive people. I didn't want to forgive. I had to trust God when I had nothing. I had to surrender my plans and follow His. That's when transformation took root. It wasn't magic, it wasn't overnight. It was daily obedience. Some days I got it right, some days I stumbled, but every time I applied what the Spirit taught me to apply. And with that, I started to grow. The power wasn't in what I heard, it was in what I lived. Application is not done in your own strength. It is empowered by the Holy Spirit. He teaches you, he corrects you, he reminds you, he strengthens you. He takes the word you hear and makes it come alive inside of you. You cannot do God's will without God's power. Here's our daily prayer. Holy Spirit, help me live what I learned today. When you lean on Him, you grow. Here's a challenge for you. Growth only happens when truth is applied. Hearing is the invitation. Obedience is a response. The Holy Spirit provides power, but you must take the step. Your future depends on what you do with what God has already spoken. Are you listening or living? Let us close with a word of prayer. Father, thank you for your word. Thank you that it brings truth, direction, and life. Give us the strength and discipline to apply what you teach us. Holy Spirit, guide us, convict us, empower us, transform our minds and shape our hearts so we look more like Jesus every day. In the name of Jesus, I do pray. Amen. Thank you for joining me today on order my steps to change life in Christ. Remember, hearing is good, but doing is where growth begins. Let the Holy Spirit help you turn revelation into application. If this episode blessed you, share it with someone and keep spreading the good news. Until next time, keep trusting, keep obeying, and keep walking with Jesus. I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young. God bless you.
