Fear loves to say “not yet,” but faith answers with a steady yes. We take a deep dive into Joshua 1:9 to show how real courage is formed—not by hype or personality, but by the presence of God, the leading of the Holy Spirit, and the daily choice to obey even when the outcome is unclear. If you’ve felt stuck at the edge of a crossing, facing walls that won’t budge, or avoiding the hard thing you know you’re called to confront, this message is a clear, practical guide to move forward with holy boldness.

We explore why courage starts with who goes with you, not what you can do. You’ll hear how the Spirit leads into unfamiliar ground that requires faith rather than comfort, and why strength shows up on the other side of obedience. From Joshua’s steps to parted rivers and fallen walls, we trace a simple pattern: when you move in obedience, God moves in power. Along the way, we offer daily practices to keep your heart steady—short, repeatable prayers for boldness, next-step obedience, and small acts of surrender that build resilient confidence over time.

We also focus on the role of Scripture in shaping a courageous mind. Keeping God’s word on your lips renews confidence, anchors emotions, and shuts down the lies that feed fear. You’ll learn how to frame your day in truth—morning, midday, and evening—so fear has no place to land. The result is a grounded, durable courage that faces battles without being ruled by them. If you’re ready to confront what you’ve been avoiding and step into what God has promised, this conversation will help you stand strong, walk forward, and trust that the God who calls you also equips you. Be Strong And Courageous

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to another episode of Order My Steps, The Christian Journey, and I'm your host, Reverend Cory Young. And today we're stepping into a foundational message for every believer who's walking by faith in a challenging world. God knows life will test you, pressure will face you, and fear will try to freeze you. But in Joshua 1 and 9, God speaks a command, not a suggestion to his people. Says this, be strong and courageous. So today we're diving into what it really means, how the Holy Spirit empowers us to walk it out, and how you can live with unshakable boldness in every season. Courage begins with God's presence, not your strength. Before Joshua stepped into leadership, before he faced Johns, before he crossed the Jordan, God told him why. Why he could be courageous. This is what Joshua, this is what God tells Joshua. He says, I am with you. So courage is not about personality, it's not about being tough, it's not about acting fearless. Courage is confidence in the presence of God. Whenever God calls you to something, he accompanies you in it, not by yourself. So just know that God is with you. So the law of application for that is we should stop trying to walk into your destiny, relying on your own strength, because courage grows when you stop focusing on what you can't do and start remembering who walks with you. Courage requires letting the Holy Spirit lead you. Joshua wasn't stepping into old territory. God was taking him somewhere he had never been. The Holy Spirit guides us into places that requires faith, not familiarity. Being strong and courageous means trusting the Spirit more than your feelings. Stepping even when you don't see the end. Obeying God when it doesn't make sense, moving forward when fear whispers not yet. When the Holy Spirit leads, you don't need all the answers. You just need obedience. Pray this daily. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you boldness and obey every day. Courage is not built overnight, it's built through daily surrender. Joshua faced enemies, obstacles, walls, and warfare. But every time he moved forward, God moved with him. Being courageous doesn't mean the battle won't be real. It means fear won't be your master. Some things won't break until you're confronted with them. Some seasons won't shift until you step toward them. Some victories won't come until you face the thing you've been avoiding. Ask yourself, what am I running from that God called me to face? It's time to confront just that same thing with fear. Strength is released through obedience. God told Joshua this. He says, Be careful to obey everything I command you. Courage is not an emotion, it is a decision to obey God even when it's hard. Every time Joshua obeyed, what happened? Walls fell, rivers parted, enemies ran, ground was conquered. Strength isn't something you hype yourself into. Strength is released every time you say yes to God. So your next level of strength is waiting behind your next act of obedience. Courage is rooted in God's word. Before Joshua led the people, God commanded him. God said this, keep this book of the law always on your lips. Why did he say that? Because you cannot walk courageously if your mind is full of fear. The word. This is what the word does. The word renews your confidence, it anchors your emotions, it reminds you of God's promises, it shuts down the lies of the enemy. So the more word you carry, the less fear can control you. So start your day with scripture. End your day with scripture. Walk through your day with scripture. Fill your mind so full of truth that fear has no place to land. Here's one final exhortation. Courage is not a feeling. Courage is a position. Strength is not natural, it's spiritual. Boldness is not personality, it's obedience. You can stand strong today because God is with you, God is for you, God goes before you. God fights for you. God strengthens you. God will never leave you. So lift your head, square your shoulders, and walk in confidence. Because the God who called you is the God who equips you. And the God who promised you victory is the same God who walks every step beside you. So be strong, be courageous, and keep walking in the steps he ordered for your life. Let us close with the word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you in the name of Jesus to say thank you for reminding us that true courage comes from you. Strengthen us in every way, in every way that we walk with you. Fill us with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit with boldness, break every spirit of fear, release confidence, obedience, and clarity. Teach us to walk in the strength of your presence and in the power of your word. And help us to be strong, courageous in every season of our journey. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Thank you for joining me on this episode of Order My Steps, the Christian Journey. And I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young. Remember this keep your faith strong, your courage high, and your heart anchored in the Lord. Until next time, keep walking, keep trusting, and keep letting God order your steps.
