Order My Steps: The Christian Journey
Life is a journey of steps—some certain, some uncertain, some guided, and some misdirected. My own journey began in darkness, behind prison walls, a place where hope seemed lost and purpose hidden. But even there, God was at work.
I was sentenced to ten years in 2000, served four years in prison, and completed the remainder on parole in 2012. During that time, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was in prison, in the quiet of my heart, that I first encountered God’s presence. I realized that even in the darkest places, He was ordering my steps.
This book is a journey—a roadmap for anyone seeking to walk faithfully with God. Through Scripture, personal testimony, and practical lessons, I want to show you that no step is wasted when God is guiding your life.

When Distraction Calls, Answer With “I Cannot Come Down”

Ever feel like the noise gets louder the moment you start making real progress? We lean into Nehemiah’s resolve—“I am doing a great work, so I cannot come down”—to unpack a practical, faith-filled strategy for finishing what God started in you when distractions, doubt, and drama circle your life.
We walk through the core scriptures that anchor perseverance: Nehemiah 6:3 for laser focus, Galatians 6:9 for steady endurance, and Philippians 1:6 for confidence that God completes His work. Along the way, we name the modern equivalents of Sanballat and Tobiah—old habits, strained relationships, temptations, and the craving for approval—and show how they try to pull you off the wall not by defeating you, but by dividing your attention. You’ll hear why resistance often intensifies near breakthrough, how to interpret pressure as proof of progress, and what it looks like to hold your position without apology.
More than motivation, we offer a simple renewal practice modeled by Nehemiah: “Lord, strengthen my hands.” Instead of praying for escape, we ask for stamina, clarity, and divine focus. We explore how the Holy Spirit steadies your mind, restores your courage, and empowers you to keep laying bricks—one faithful decision at a time. And we lift your perspective beyond the moment: your obedience is building identity, restoration, and revival that will bless people you may never meet.
If you need language for saying no to distractions and yes to your calling, this conversation will meet you where you are and nudge you forward. Subscribe, share this with someone who’s tired of the noise, and leave a review to help others find the encouragement they need to stay on the wall. What’s the one distraction you’ll set down today?

Stay On The Wall
SPEAKER_00Welcome back to another powerful episode of Order My Steps, The Christian Journey, and I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young. And today's message is for every believer who's been building, praying, fighting, and pushing forward, but life is trying to pull you down. We're going into the story of Nehemiah, a man who refused to leave his assignment, refused to bow to distractions, and refused to quit the work that God had given him. If you're tired, discouraged, attacked, or tempted to walk away from the thing that God called you to, this episode is for you. Today's word is simple but powerful. Stay on the wall, don't come down. Let us get into the episode. There's a few scriptures that I want to look at this morning. And the first one is Nehemiah 6 and 3. It says, I am doing a great work so that I cannot come down. This is in which we're going to build this episode upon. The next one is Galatians 6 and 9. It says this, let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. And then the last one is Philippians chapter 1, verse 6. It said, God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until he is finished. Your assignment is too great to walk away from. Nehemiah knew this firsthand. God gave him that wall. God gave him that mission. God gave him that burden. But most of all, God gave him that vision. When God gives you something, the enemy tries everything to pull you away from it. They tried. Notice I did say they tried. They tried the threats. They tried lies. They tried distractions. They tried intimidation. They tried discouragement. But Nehemiah had one answer, and the answer that he gave was, I cannot come down. Some of you are on the wall rebuilding your family, rebuilding your faith, rebuilding your calling, rebuilding your life, or even rebuilding your ministry. Don't let the enemy talk you out of what God told you to build. If God gave you the assignment, he will give you the strength. Distraction is the enemy's most effective weapon. Sam Balat and Tobiah kept trying to pull Nehemiah down. They said, Come meet us, Nehemiah said no. Then they threatened him. Nehemiah said, Still no. Then they lied on him. Nehemiah still refused. The enemy doesn't always need to defeat you. Sometimes he just needs to distract you. The moment Nehemiah left the wall, the work would stop. Ask yourself, who or what is trying to pull me off the wall? Is it old habits? Is it old relationships? Is it old temptations? Is it drama? Is it fear? Is it doubt? Is it business? People who don't see your calling. Your purpose is too valuable to waste energy on distractions. When you're close to the breakthrough, those attacks, they increase. Nehemiah 6 shows us something real. The closer the wall got to completion, the harder the enemy fought. When you're near breakthrough, the devil doesn't whisper, he screams. When you're close to finishing the work God gave you, warfare intensifies. That's not a sign to quit. It's proof you're close to something major. So don't misinterpret warfare attacks. Don't always mean something is wrong. Sometimes it means something is right and it's going to happen real soon. So stay on the wall. The enemy fights hardest when you're almost done. The Holy Spirit gives strength to continue. In Nehemiah 6 and 9, after every attack, Nehemiah prayed, Lord, strengthen my hands. He didn't pray for escape. He didn't pray for an easier assignment. He prayed for strength to finish. That spiritual maturity, not running from the work, but asking God to give you power to complete it. The Holy Spirit is the one who does this. The Holy Spirit renews your strength. He steadies your mind. He gives divine focus. He gives you the empower you need to finish what God started in you. Pray every day. Holy Spirit, strengthen my hands for the work. Because when the Spirit strengthens you, nothing can stop you. Your obedience is building something bigger than you. Near my wall wasn't just stone, it was destiny. It was identity. It was restoration. It was also revival. Your obedience is building. Every brick you lay, every choice you make, every pray you pray, every time you refuse to quit, you're building something God will use to bless generations. So don't come down. You're closer than you think. Your obedience is creating something that will outlive you. Here's a closing exhortation. Stay on the wall. No matter who talks, no matter who leaves, no matter who doubts, no matter who misunderstands your calling, you're doing a great work. The enemy only attacks what threatens him. So keep building, keep praying, keep pushing, keep trusting, keep obeying. God didn't bring you this far to leave you here. Let us close with a word of prayer. The Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, strengthen every listener who feels tired, discouraged, or distracted. Holy Spirit, renew their strength, restore their focus, empower their hands to finish the work that you gave them. Silence every distraction, break every attack of discouragement, and give them courage to stay on the wall until the work is complete. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Thank you for tuning in to Order My Steps, The Christian Journey. And I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young. Don't come down off that wall. Your purpose is too great and your God is too faithful. Until next time, keep building, keep believing, and keep letting God order your steps.
