Order My Steps: The Christian Journey
Life is a journey of steps—some certain, some uncertain, some guided, and some misdirected. My own journey began in darkness, behind prison walls, a place where hope seemed lost and purpose hidden. But even there, God was at work.
I was sentenced to ten years in 2000, served four years in prison, and completed the remainder on parole in 2012. During that time, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was in prison, in the quiet of my heart, that I first encountered God’s presence. I realized that even in the darkest places, He was ordering my steps.
This book is a journey—a roadmap for anyone seeking to walk faithfully with God. Through Scripture, personal testimony, and practical lessons, I want to show you that no step is wasted when God is guiding your life.

Finding Clarity: How To Recognize God’s Voice In A Loud World
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Noise is everywhere—on our phones, in our calendars, and inside our heads—and it’s quietly stealing clarity. We go straight at distraction as a spiritual strategy, then lay out a clear path for hearing God’s voice with confidence, even when life is loud. Drawing from 1 Kings 19, Psalm 46, John 10, and Isaiah 30, we unpack why God often chooses a whisper and how that changes the way we seek direction.
We get practical fast. You’ll learn a simple daily rhythm of stillness that takes just ten minutes, plus a 24-hour “silence the loudest noise” reset to break through confusion and overwhelm. We share a reliable test for guidance—peace over pressure—so you can stop second guessing and start moving with holy confidence. We also explore how busyness can disguise purpose, how emotional noise clouds judgment, and why rushing decisions leads to misalignment.
You’ll hear how the Holy Spirit serves as your inner filter, nudging, warning, comforting, and convicting so your steps stay aligned. We offer a short morning prayer to center your heart and a fresh perspective on closed doors and quiet seasons. Sometimes God removes the noise for you to protect and position you; accepting that silence can be the most strategic move you make.
If you’re craving direction, craving peace, or just tired of living at the mercy of your notifications, this conversation will help you slow down, lean in, and listen. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs clarity today, and leave a review to tell us what noise you’re choosing to silence this week.

Framing The Battle: Distraction
SPEAKER_00Welcome back, and I'm your host, Reverend Corey Young, and you're tuned in to another life-shifting episode of Order My Step, The Christian Journey, where we grow, we learn, and we walk this thing out one step at a time, guided by the word, strengthened by the Spirit, and anchored in Christ. Today's episode is one that the enemy does not want you to hear because it exposes one of his greatest strategies, and that is distraction. The noise, the pressure, the chaos around you, the demands pulling at you, the battles within you, but there comes a moment in every believer's life when you must say, I need to hear God clearly, and nothing matters more than his voice. So today we're talking about quietening the noise, hearing God clearly in a loud world. 1 Kings 19, 11 through 12 says, But the Lord was not in the wind, not in the earthquake, not in the fire. And after the fire came, a still small voice. Let's get into the episode. God speaks, but we must create space to listen. Psalms 46 and 10 says, Be still and know that I am God. Sometimes God isn't silent. We're just too loud to hear him. Life becomes cluttered. Calls, texts, emails, work demands, crises, people needing your time, internal doubts, emotional noise. But hear this stillness is spiritual discipline. It is the doorway to clarity. God told Elijah to stand still. He didn't show up in the drama or the noise. He showed up in the whisper. Why the whisper? Because God doesn't have to shout to those who stay close. This week carve out ten quiet minutes a day. No phone, no background noise, just stillness. You will be shocked at how much God has been waiting to say to you. The enemy uses noises as a weapon against direction. John chapter 10, verse 5 says, My sheep know my voice. The devil knows he cannot stop God's plan, but he can distract you from hearing it. Noises create confusion, delay, doubt, busyness disguises purpose, emotional overwhelm, misalignment, wrong decisions made under pressure. Some of us aren't defeated, we're just distracted. And distraction is dangerous because it keeps you spiritually alive but strategically ineffective. Identify your loudest noise. Is it social media, a draining relationship, work stress, internal negative self-talk? Write it down this week. Then silence it for 24 hours. Choose clarity over chaos. God's voice always brings alignment, peace, and direction. Isaiah 30 and 21 says, This is the way, walk in it. God's voice does not confuse. It doesn't rush, it doesn't pressure you, it guides, it aligns, it stabilizes your spirit. When God speaks, peace follows. Directions become clearer. Fear loses strength. Decision making becomes easier. You move with confidence. You stop second guessing yourself. You want to know if if it's God, look for peace in your spirit, not perfection in your situation. Before any decision this week, ask, does this move bring me peace or pressure? That answer alone will direct your feet. The Holy Spirit is your inner filter. John 16 and 13 says, He will guide you into all truth. God never expected you to navigate life alone. That's why he gave you the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, this is what it does: it nudges you, it warns you, it comforts you. Most of all, it convicts you, it confirms your steps, it protects your spirit, and it guides your decision. When you are in alignment with the spirit, chaos around you can't disrupt the peace within you. So start your day with this prayer. Holy Spirit, filter my thoughts, guide my choices, and silence anything that isn't from you. You will feel the shift in the atmosphere. Sometimes God will remove the noise for you. Exodus 14 and 14 says, the Lord will fight for you. You need only to be still. Sometimes God shuts doors, He ends relationships, He blocks opportunities, He shakes your environment, He isolates you, not to punish you, but to position you. Some seasons of loneliness are actually seasons of divine clarity. If God is quieting in your circle, if things are slowing down, if people are falling away, He's not subtracting, He is refining your hair. Stop trying to reopen doors that God shut for protection. Silence is often his strategy. Here's some closing exhortation. God's voice is not lost, it's simply waiting for your attention. When you quiet the noise, you will discover direction, you will hear instruction, you will walk into alignment. So this week, slow down, silence distraction, lean in, and let God speak. Because clarity is not a luxury for the believer, it is your weapon. Let us close with a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for allowing us to get understanding in your word today, dear Heavenly Father. We ask you to give us clarity in your word, dear Heavenly Father. And we ask, Dear Heavenly Father, that you guide us and strengthen us in everything we do according to your will. Amen. Thank you for joining me today on Order My Steps, the Christian Journey. I pray that this episode helps you silence the chaos and lean into God's voice. If this blesses you, share it with someone who needs clarity today. And remember, your steps matter, your growth matters, your alignment matters, and God is ordering all of it. Until next time, keep walking, keep growing, and keep trusting. I'm Reverend Corey Young, and I'll see you in the next episode.
