If you want to take your Bible and turn to uh Psalm 94, verse 19. We're gonna look at Psalm 94, 19. We're gonna look at this Psalm, but I just want to read that verse. Think about the title of the title of this message, Overthinking Tomorrow. I don't know if you're guilty of it. I can be guilty of that. Thinking about tomorrow more than we focus on today, but we're gonna look at this today. Uh over not to overthink tomorrow, really.
SPEAKER_00Uh Psalm 94, 19. Psalm 94 and verse 19 says this in the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul.
SPEAKER_01So Lord, word of prayer. Tell me, Father, we just hope we bow before you again, Lord. Thank you for a beautiful day and for the opportunity to be here this morning to worship you in spirit and in truth. And I do ask you again, Father, from your preaching grace this morning. You just have me behind the cross and I remain there. And uh, Lord, that we just uh understand your word. And uh we just praise you for all the blessings. That we have anxious moments, anxious days, and that we just uh not live in those anxieties. I just thank you for your comfort as you give us a peace of mind that uh only you can give us. I just pray, Lord, for those maybe here today that may be lost, don't have a relationship with you, that have never repented of their sins and call upon the name of Christ, and today would be the day. They would realize how much they're love, they would realize the message of the cross, that their sin debt has been paid through the blood of Christ on Calvary's cross. And we pray, Lord, that they would realize that and uh realize that their their sin has separated them from you and that they would repent and call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. And Lord, not just be saved, but but grow in their faith and again become disciples you've called us all to be. And we're just so very thankful for your comfort. Uh sometimes of a troubled mind that you give us a peace again, and only you can give us again, Lord. We pray you receive all the honor and the glory and the praise, and that we go and be the light you've called us all to be. Again, we love and we praise you. We ask forgiveness of sins, and we ask us all in Jesus' name. Amen. It's an interesting verse. Uh, when we read this verse, we realize that the writer is becoming anxious about something. Something's bothering him, something's in his mind. And he says he praises him for us. Thy comforts delight my soul. He said he's being comforted. He gives him a peace. And uh we could read the verse like this as uh we could say, uh, when my anxious thoughts multiply within me, your comfort delights my soul. And it's multiple thoughts. And what's it cause us? Cause us to have anxiety. We have too many thoughts about tomorrow, today, struggles, all the different things it can cause us to be anxious. And uh I want to read the entire psalm. We're gonna look at it in just a few minutes to see really what he's thinking and what's causing him to be anxious. And what how blessed he is that God gives him comfort of mind. And that's where our peace comes from, is understanding that God gives us a comfort, gives us a peace of mind. But I'm here to talk to the lost first. If you're lost and don't know Jesus, guess what? You'll never have a peace of mind. You'll never have a peace, you'll never have a real deep sleep, a rest, a real rest night, because the Holy Spirit will be convicting you to be saved. That's what God wants us to understand that we have to have a relationship with Him. But even in our relationship, in our relationship, even in our relationship with God, we'll have we can have troublesome times. We can have difficult times, we can have lost family members, lost uh people in our lives, friends and stuff, and it's concerned, or we have, you know, financial issues or child issues, whatever it may be, friends, different things, things can cause us to be anxious. We live in a world that is full of anxious people. Uh, I read an article this week about it as I was studying for this lesson, and it says that how many people struggle with an anxiety disorder? That's something that's actually clinical. And it says it is estimated that 4.4% of the global population, not just Independence County, Arkansas, it says 4.4% of the people in this world, so that's roughly 359 million people, which we'd say basically every every person in America, like 400 million, close to 400 million people. We're talking about the world, experience an anxiety disorder. So it's making it the most common mental health disorder worldwide. Then it gets more specific to our country. It says in the U.S., about 19% of adults suffer from anxiety in any given year.
SPEAKER_00It says in roughly one in three adults will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Think about it. Anxiety is a real thing. It's a real thing. And we must remember that the Bible tells us how to deal with it.
SPEAKER_01And I want us to look at this today. We're going to see what's causing this writer to have anxiety. But these three things I want us to think about are today's anxiety, overthinking tomorrow, and the third one is focus on winning today. Focus on winning today. So today's anxiety, let's look at the first six verses of this Psalm, and we'll see what's causing him to be anxious. Verse 1, it says, O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth, O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, show thyself. He says, Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render a reward to the proud. Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things, and all the work of iniquity boast themselves? They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thy inheritage, and slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Looks like he's living in a world that we live in today.
SPEAKER_01You watch the five o'clock news and you see a story about something that's just more atrocious than the day before. And it's just, what's it do? It can cause you to be anxious about, you know, where we live and what's going on and the lawlessness that's in our land. And he's calling out to God, you know, when are you going to judge? When is your righteousness going to reign supreme? You know, I try to pray daily. Matt was talking about prayer life, and it was really good Sunday school lesson, talking about prayer. And I pray daily that the Lord would come back. He would rule, and we would rule and reign with him in righteousness in Jerusalem, that he would begin the thousand-year reign. I long for that day. I long for that day when we have a righteous, a true righteous judge that's doing right by all people, rich, poor, young, or whatever, that Christ would rule and reign on this earth and do what's right. Because it will never be right till he comes and establishes his earthly throne. So what can happen to us? We can have anxious moments. We can have anxious moments. You know, being uh, when we have to wait, guess what? Waiting can cause anxiety. It can cause anxiety. Uh being in a situation you cannot fix. Men, I'm here to tell you, we can't fix everything. We try to. Wife or your friend or somebody tell you something, tell you a problem, and it took me a long time to figure it out. When your wife tells you something about problems, about work or this, that, and the other, guess what? It's not you can fix it. We can try, we can think, but we can get all fired up. So, how do you go fix that? Well, some things we can't fix. We can't fix it. And your wife just wants you to listen. That's basically another message for another day. But really and truly, is things that cause us anxiety are things that we can't fix. Just like this guy is calling out, this writer is calling out the guy. When are you gonna have when is when is when are you gonna uh show your vengeance on the lost, on the wicked world? We have to wait for his righteous judgment to come. And and waiting can cause it. But look at what he says in verse 7. It says, Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. Well, who are they? They're the wicked, the unjust. It says in Psalm 10, 11, it says, that the wicked has said in his heart, God hath forgotten. He hideth his face. He will never see it. Never see what? Their wickedness. But God sees all. God sees the heart. He sees our heart. He sees the heart of the wicked. He sees every child on this earth's heart. He sees the core of who we are. And we ought to be very thankful that God is long suffering. That God is long-suffering, not wanting any to perish, that Peter said, but all would come to repentance and live a life for him. Then we see that what he says in verse 8 says, Understand, you brutish among the people and you fools, when will you be wise? The writer begins to say what we all should say. And what that word brutish means in the King James, it means what we'd say today is stupid. And he's saying, when will you stupid and foolish people finally be wise? And what do stupid and foolish people do? They say there is no God. They say that God will not judge, that they'll get away with their sin forever, that hell is a party and all the different things that the foolish and the wicked people say.
SPEAKER_00But we should want all people to understand and realize a very important thing about God. And what is that? Well, look in verse 9. He says, He that planteth the ear shall he not hear.
SPEAKER_01This is what he says in the rest of that verse. He that formed the eye, shall he not see? You know, medical people today still, yet with all the technology and everything that they've studied, they really cannot fully understand and grasp how the human eye works. They understand how it works mechanically, but how it can send a signal from the brain, from the brain to process them and just, you know, I mean, the human eye is fascinating. It's fascinating. And that they can fix a lot of problems and all that, but they really don't, the the length there, how it can process and for us to be able to see is really unexplainable. Yes, there's a lens and there's a pupil in it, all the different things of the eye. But how it all works. And so, and that's what the writer is saying here. He says, He that because they said, you know, we're reading Psalms, oh, the God will never see our sin, never see our weakness. And he says this, he says, He that formed the eye, he made the eye.
SPEAKER_00Shall he not see? Be like someone coming up and designing a motor. The person that designed that combustion motor, I can report. The assembly line, all the things. You don't think he understands how a combustion motor works?
SPEAKER_01Or someone that makes a watch. You don't think he understands how the watch works? He built it. And this thing about that's what he's trying to say. To say that God doesn't see when he created the eye, he sees everything. He sees everything. And he says, He that chasteneth the heathen, shall he not correct?
SPEAKER_00In verse 10, he that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not know? The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. And again, God sees all things, he sees the heart of all people.
SPEAKER_01And as we as we continue to read, we'll realize it's right of experience and what the Apostle Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 3 12 that all who live godly will suffer persecution. And if we live godly, we may not suffer persecution, but we'll see the wickedness of this world, and it should break our hearts. I mean, have you seen the things that's going on in our country with the the abortion? Uh the little child was picked up by the driver and then strangled to death.
SPEAKER_00I mean, just sick. Heart-wrenching, gut-wrenching evil. We see daily. And that can cause anxiety.
SPEAKER_01But look what he says in verse 12 through 19. He says, Blessed is a man who chasten whom thou chastest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law. How does God teach us? He chasteneth with the Holy Spirit, and he teaches us from his word. It says that thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity until the pit he digged for the wicked. For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither would forsake his inheritance. How awesome is that! But judgment shall return unto the righteous and upon the upright, and hearts shall follow it. Unless the Lord have been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth, thy mercy, O Lord, help me up. Then he gets to verse 19. You can see all the things he'd been thinking about. And he says, In the multitude of my thoughts within me, thy comforts delight my soul. And so he was anxious. He was beginning to have anxiety about all the different things he was seeing. And you know, we think about everything going on and wondering when God will act. Uh the world we live in today can cause all of us to be to have anxious, have anxiety, and it and it's normal to have anxious moments. With everything going on, with the war ceasefire that lasts five minutes and then have another ceasefire. I mean, all the things all the things that's going on with that situation can cause us to be anxious. Uh but here's the thing: we're not to live in an anxious state of mind. Because when we get anxious about things, guess what? Just like the Psalm 19 says, or 94 verse 19 says, He will comfort us. He will give us a peace if we'll just hear that voice and understand. He's speaking to us to have us understand that we have the mind of Christ. We have the mind of Christ, and we're to think like he thinks. Well, sometimes what happens, we overthink tomorrow. That's the second point. We think, okay, we made it through the day, but how what's going to happen tomorrow? Well, let's look what it in Matthew chapter 6. Turn to Matthew chapter 6. Jesus talks about this. It's a great illustration, Matthew chapter 6, as Jesus always does the way he was the master teacher. We're going to get to the kind of the end of the story and then back up. Matthew chapter 6, look in verse 34. Jesus doing the teaching, he says, Matthew 6, 34, it says, Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow or tomorrow shall take thought for it for the things of itself. And then he says, sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. What he's saying is there's enough evil in today, enough things to worry about today, instead of worrying about tomorrow. That's basically what he's saying.
SPEAKER_00And he's teaching us not to overthink about tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01And he goes, if you jump back to what he's teaching on, my little subtitle says this, says these next verses are about anxiety in God's kingdom. Look in verse 24. And he says, Jesus says, this is where he begins to teach. He says, And no man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. And that word mammon is more than just money, it's wealth, it's possessions. It's like your overall wealth, the things that you have. If you're constantly trying to have gain more wealth, not just make money, but things, vehicles, houses, land, whatever it might be, just things. You're constantly trying to strive to do that. Instead of serving God, you will tear yourself in two and you will live in an anxious state constantly because you cannot serve two masters. You have to make up your mind who you're gonna, like kind of like Joshua back in the day. He said, Choose you this day, who you will serve. And he says, God's on the other side, or the false and fake, or we follow the one true living God. That's what Jesus is saying, because that's where their anxiety is coming from. They're not making their mind up to follow him. Then they get worried about the different things going to happen by following him. He says in verse 25, therefore I say un you take no thought of your life. When you give your life to Christ, guess what? He will take care of you. He'll never leave us nor forsake us. Very first thing he says. He didn't say your bank account or whatever else. He says, your life. He says, what you shall eat, what you shall drink, nor yet for your body, what you shall put on it. And he says, Is not the life more than the meat, and the body more than the raiment? He says, Behold the fowls of the air, he gives a great illustration. For they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into their barns, yet your heavenly father feedeth them. Are you not much better than they? If you see all the birds today that's going around, man, there's so many birds. Everything's branching out. Have we seen our first hummingbird yesterday? Man, they've made it back. Them birds are amazing. Them things amaze me every year. I just get more amazed by them birds. Well, they fly. Those thousands of miles, little bitty guys, fly one time all the way across the Gulf of Mexico. It's amazing. Who gets them there?
SPEAKER_00And who gets them back? God does. God does. And that's what he says. If he's gonna take care of the little bitty birds, he'll take care of us.
SPEAKER_01Are we not much more valuable than little bitty birds? And he says, you are. And then he says this in verse 27 Which of you, by taking thought, can add one cubit to his statue? What are you saying? Which of you worrying or being anxious about tomorrow can do anything about it, basically?
SPEAKER_00We can't. We can't. We just trust him. And he says, why take ye thought of raiment?
SPEAKER_01Tell me about your clothing. He says, consider the lilies of the field, how they don't grow. They toil not, neither do they spin.
SPEAKER_00We see all kinds of flowers blooming out right now, and they're beautiful. What do they do? Nothing.
SPEAKER_01God grew them and they're beautiful. They continue to bloom. That's what he says. What have they done? They don't do anything. God just, the soil gets warm, a little bit of water, this, that, and the other. They say, you know, here they are. God gives the increase. And he says, and yet I say unto you, verse 29, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Then he says, Wherefore, if God so clothed the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, it's talking about like a wheat field, make bread. Shall he not so much more clothe thee?
SPEAKER_00And he says, O ye of little faith. Here's the thing about anxiety. The less faith we have, the more anxious we're going to be.
SPEAKER_01It's kind of like fear and courage. It can't live in the same place. You have more, you have a lot of courage, your fear goes down. Or you have less courage, your fear goes up. It's understanding that. It's what he's saying. We're going to have fearful moments, anxious times, anxious things, but we ought to have more faith. More faith. Trusting faith, believing faith. And Jesus says, Oh, ye of little faith. What was he seeing? He was seeing their faces. And more importantly, he was seeing their hearts, knowing that they had didn't have enough faith. And he says, therefore in verse 31, take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? What shall we drink? Where were all shall we be clothed? He says, Perhaps these things do the Gentiles seek. And he says, For your heavenly Father, knowing that you have need of these things, God will always provide what we need, not what we think we must have.
SPEAKER_00Because it and then we see what he's saying, it's your heavenly father. It's a relationship. It's a relationship. You think about your earthly parents. They do the best to do what?
SPEAKER_01Supply your every need. They didn't give you every single thing you wanted, but you had a warm place to sleep and food to eat and someone there to love you, you know. And that's what we see, what God is saying. Your heavenly Father knoweth the things you need. Then he tells us in verse 33, but seek ye first the kingdom of God. That's how we ought to be truly seeking God's kingdom and his righteousness. And what is his righteousness? Well, it's his word, his holy spirit, and it's his son. And where should we find the righteousness of God today? Here, in the church. We are to be the peculiar people, the peculiar people. And he says, and all these things shall be added unto you. And then he says, Therefore, take therefore no thought for tomorrow. For tomorrow shall have thought for itself. And so sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. He said, Don't put so much worry and concern on tomorrow. Take care of today. Take care of today. So it's so important we understand that. And so how do we apply that to our life? To not struggle with anxiety in a world that's full of anxious people and anxious and evil, wicked things. To not overthink tomorrow, but also focus on winning today.
SPEAKER_00You might say, Brother Ryan, what do you mean? Well, sound kind of like this. You ever tried to get out of debt?
unknownMr.
SPEAKER_00Stan tried that 10 years ago, and we've been very blessed because of it. But to understand how to get out of debt is you have to understand this. You have to spend less than you make.
SPEAKER_01Plain and simple. If you can constantly spend more than you make and you're in debt, guess what? Your debt's just going to grow. So you have to be disciplined and understand, okay, I make a little bit of money, I need to spend even less. And as you begin to pay off those debts and you begin to make more money and things like that, you can be out of debt. But it takes a plan. You have to understand the mindset and you have to be willing to follow the plan. And that's what focusing on winning today is. Okay, am I gonna read things and think about things that's that's detrimental and causes me anxiety, or I'm gonna pray for people and pray for my loved ones and read God's word and be led by the Holy Spirit and do those things on the daily? And guess what? You will begin to be changed. But you must win today. Not just one day a week. It's each day as we go through our life. There'll be struggles, yes. But we ought to be talking to the Lord daily, knowing and understanding that there will be difficulties, there will be problems. But what did Christ say about for us to do? To take up our cross daily in Luke 9.23. And that means dying to self, to self-will, to the things that cause us anxiety. When you die to self, guess what? You're just gonna follow the Lord's lead.
SPEAKER_00Say, Lord, what do you want me to do? And he'll tell you what to do. And then what are we to do?
SPEAKER_01Do what he tells us to do. That's what he doesn't make, he's not the author of confusion, is what it tells us in Hebrews or in Corinthians. He tells us what he wants us to do, and he has the Holy Spirit guiding us showing us. Join us. And what are we to do? We're to live a life to glorify him. Bring him honor, glory, and praise. So why don't you turn to Philippians chapter 4?
SPEAKER_00Philippians chapter 4. I love what the Apostle Paul writes to the church here in Philippi. He says, in verse 6. Philippians 4 and verse 6, he says, Be careful for nothing.
SPEAKER_01But in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and what else? And your minds through Christ Jesus. Well, Jesus knows what? He knows that people struggle with anxiety. They're anxious. He knew his disciples, the decisions that they were making to forsake everything, caused them to be anxious. And Paul knew the way the Philippians were struggling and things of the persecution and everything that was going on, he knew the church was, you know, being anxious. And he says, What? Be careful for nothing. He says, in the peace of God which pass all understanding, shall keep your hearts and your minds through Christ Jesus. Then he says this in verse 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whosoever things are honest, whosoever things are just, whosoever things are pure, whosoever things are lovely, whatsoever things of a good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, what's he say? Think on these things. Don't dwell on the disappointments of life. It will bring you down, and you will not win today. And what happens? Your anxiety will grow and your depression will grow. And all these different things will happen to you that God doesn't want to happen to you. Knocks down, and fall will be raised up seven times. That's what God wants us. Yeah, we'll be knocked down, but we ought to get back up through his strength. And then he says, Paul says this in verse 9 those things which you have both learned, received, heard, and seen in me. I love what he says. Don't just think about those things you see me do. They've learned, received, heard, and seen. What do you say? He says, Do those things. Do those things.
SPEAKER_00Be an encourager. Be a giver. And he says, in God of peace shall be with you. That amazing.
SPEAKER_01Having that mindset, the understanding that anxious moments come, but don't live in those moments. That God will give us the comfort and we'll think on the positive things. Think on those positive things. But the key word in those three verses, four verses, what the key word is? Look at verse 6. It says, be careful for nothing.
SPEAKER_00You know the word anxious or anxiety is not in the King James. It's not. But it words like careful or troubled, in Jesus' language, that's what he would say.
SPEAKER_01Don't be careful. Be careful for nothing. He's saying, don't be worried or troubled. And so that word careful is found in two stories.
SPEAKER_00I want to end this message in. Because they're very well known. But I think we overlook that word careful.
SPEAKER_01So I want you to turn to uh Daniel chapter 3. No, first, turn to Luke first. Luke chapter 10. Luke chapter 10, it's closer.
SPEAKER_00Luke chapter 10. Thinking about that word where he says, be careful for nothing. And help us understand really what that word means. Jesus comes to see Mary and Martha. In Luke chapter 10, verse 38. He's coming to visit. And I'm here to tell you. If you're here right now, guess what? Jesus is here visiting with you. You ever thought about Jesus just sitting in the pew by you? Everything you're thinking about, everything you're dealing with. He might be nudging you, saying, Are you listening?
SPEAKER_01Are you reading the word? Are you hearing me speak to your mind, speak to your heart? There's difficulties, the disappointments, the everything you got going on in your life. Are you listening? Are you reading my word? Look what he says. If you're having those moments, this is for you. But look what he says. He's coming to visit. He says, Now it came to pass as they went, and he entered to a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
SPEAKER_00That's the first thing. You have to let Jesus sit by you. You have enough room in your pew for him? I pray you do. You have enough room in your heart for him? I pray you do. You have enough room in your life for him? I pray that you do. Because he wants to walk with you every step of the way.
SPEAKER_01And he says, and she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word. But Martha, verse 40, but Martha was comforted about much serving. And she came to him and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? It says, bid her or ask her to therefore that she help me. What Martha's doing was not wrong.
SPEAKER_00She was wanting to make sure that she had plenty to feed them, taking care of the place, make sure everything's ready. She was anxious. She was full of anxiety because who showed up? Jesus. She wanted everything to be perfect. Guess what? Jesus knows none of us are perfect.
SPEAKER_01We'll all make mistakes. We'll all suffer from being anxious, have anxious moments in our lives. But he's there to give us peace. And that's what he tells Martha. Look what he says. And Jesus answered and said unto her in verse 41, Martha, Martha, there are careful.
SPEAKER_00And then we see the context. And troubled.
SPEAKER_01So what is she going on with it? She's having anxious, she's having anxiety, hoping like most women, there's just enough food. There's enough things there. That we're going to have everything in place. Everything's going to be alright. And Jesus is like, Martha, Martha. He is not, I believe, not in any way getting on to her. He's just wanting her to calm down and say, everything's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay. And I believe it's what Jesus and the Holy Spirit tells us in our most anxious moments.
SPEAKER_00Take a breath, calm down. Everything's going to be okay. And he says, Martha and Martha, they are careful and troubled about many things.
SPEAKER_01He says, but one thing is needful. And it's not just for Mary, it's not just for Martha, it's for all of us. And he says, and Mary hath chosen that good part. He says, which shall not be taken away from her. Where was Mary? Saying at the feet of Christ, listening to him teach, listening to him speak. So that's the lesson for us.
SPEAKER_00In our anxious moments, we just listen to the Lord.
SPEAKER_01We just listen to the Lord, listen to the Holy Spirit, read his word. Read his word. And it will bring a peace and a comfort. We can't understand. But he doesn't. He calms us down. But we have to have a faith and an understanding that we truly believe in God, that we truly belong to God. Because the devil, he will try everything he can to make us anxious people, fearful people. Turn to Daniel chapter 3.
SPEAKER_00Heard this from the whole from the time you were children. Shadrach, Meshach, Nebendigo. Nebuchadnezzar builds this big giant statue and they won't bow down to it.
SPEAKER_01So of course, all those around them, they stand out like a sore thumb because they're standing up to bow down. They're like, hey, that decree you made saying that they were to bow down, they've not done it. So of course they go cattle, put it like that. So they go tell them. So Nebuchadnezzar doesn't want to throw them in the furnace.
SPEAKER_00He likes them, especially Daniel. So he kind of gives them a little reprieve there.
SPEAKER_01Look what he says in verse 16. He says, he's basically saying, we're going to give you another chance, but if you if you if you will just do this, when you hear the sounds, all these musical instruments and all that, just bow down and everything will be good. Look what their response is in verse 16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Nebengo answer and says to the king, O King Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel chapter 3, verse 16. O Nebuchadnezzar, look what he says. We are not careful. See that word again? Careful to answer thee in this manner. He says, We're not worried. We're not stressed. We don't have to go pray about it for a week before we come back and give you an answer. He said, We're not. I love what they say. Their faith is real. They said, we don't have to take a moment to say, well, let's just get together and let's huddle up and say, okay, what's the plan going to be? He says, we're not anxious to give you an answer. We'll give you an answer right now, to answer thee in all in this manner. He says verse 17. He said, if it be so, our God, whom we serve, is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace. And he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But he says in verse 18, but if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. So then, of course, the Nebuchadnezzar, verse 18 and 19, was full of fury.
SPEAKER_00Of course, we see, we know the story. Ramped up the furnace and he threw them in there. Then he looks, and what's he see? There's four in there. He says, one looks like the Son of God. That's amazing. Amazing. I love that they said we're not, we're not, we're not stressed.
SPEAKER_01We're not anxious. We know whom we're going to serve, like Paul says, I know who I am, and I know who I serve. When we do that, we realize that the anxious moments will flee and God will give us a peace.
SPEAKER_00So turn back to Psalm 94. Because we are in a world that's full of information.
SPEAKER_01Everybody talks with podcasts and videos and so much things, so much, so many words out there, so many thoughts that can enter our mind.
SPEAKER_00That it's only normal, I truly believe, for us to have anxious moments. We're human. But read that verse. Verse 19. In the multitude of my thoughts within me are in my anxious moments.
SPEAKER_01He says, Thy comforts delight my soul.
SPEAKER_00Cling to that verse. And know when we're anxious that God will give us comfort. If you will, please stand. Miss Michelle and Brother Matt, come forward.
SPEAKER_01I want to encourage you, if you've never been saved, to be saved. Don't deal with that exact that anxiety about where you're going to spend eternity. Have that decision made. Place your faith in Christ. And however you pray, Lord, save me, or God, I repent of my sins. I believe in you, Lord, save me. However, you word that, however, you talk to God about salvation, he will save you. If you're sincere from your heart, asking him to save you, then that eternal destination is secure in heaven. And there'll be no more anxious nights about where you're going to spend eternity. But after we're saved, guess what? Anxiety doesn't just go away. Because we will have persecution, we'll have problems because we're in this flesh and we're in a sin-cursed world. But here's the thing: anything the devil throws at us, God can overcome. God has overcome. He wants us to be overcomers. He wants us to live in the moment, to win today, to be more like Christ each and every day. And how do we do that? By yielding to the Holy Spirit. He's here among us. He's that small, still voice speaking to each and every heart. And our life is to do what? To humbly yield to Him, as we say.
