What about when things go wrong? Because they will.
Even when you’re aligned, even when you’re doing the work — life still throws storms. Struggles that feel heavy, unfair, or out of your control.
In this episode, I share openly about the reality of when things go wrong — from finances collapsing, to losing my kids, to the everyday slips that still show up now. And I talk about the truth I’ve found: wrong doesn’t mean the end. Wrong can mean beginning again, deeper, stronger, freer.
You’ll hear about:
✨ The difference between human reactions and soulful responses
✨ How sitting with pain — not masking it or running from it — allows it to pass
✨ Why asking for support is not weakness, but wisdom
✨ The hidden lessons that come wrapped inside struggle
This isn’t a “wow me” story. It’s me showing my journey, storms and all, in the hope that if you’re in one right now, it helps you remember your strength — and your spark.

Life reflects what we feed it. What we put into our body, mind, and soul is what comes back out in how we think, feel, and live.
In this episode, I share openly about slipping back into doomscrolling, how it spiralled my thoughts, made me snappier, and pulled me away from presence. I talk about what I see in my kids too — how too much gaming or social media shifts their energy, their confidence, even their ability to connect.
Because it’s all connected:
✨ The body responds to how we fuel and move it.
✨ The mind reflects the content and noise we consume.
✨ The soul shines when we give it trust and silence.
✨ Our environment shapes the energy we walk in.
This isn’t about perfection. I’ll slip again. We all do. But what matters is awareness — catching what we’re putting in, and choosing to feed ourselves with what lifts us instead of what drags us down.
And please don’t hear this as a “wow me” story. It’s not that. This is me showing my journey, slips and all, in the hope it helps you remember your spark — that little piece of the infinite inside you that’s waiting to shine brighter.

Words are powerful. They shape how we see ourselves, how we carry our struggles, and even what our subconscious believes is possible.
Too often, we take ownership of our pain by the way we speak: “my anxiety,” “my depression,” “my anger.” The moment we say it, we make it part of our identity. But those things are not who we are — they’re experiences, not definitions.
The same goes for how we talk about our bodies or habits: “I’m fat,” “I’m lazy,” “I’m weak.” Words like that don’t just describe us — they trap us. But when we shift our language, we shift our freedom. “I feel sluggish,” “I’ve put on weight,” “I’m learning discipline.” That leaves space for growth.
In this episode, I talk about how words are spells — they fuel our subconscious, they create outcomes, and they shape our reality. And I share how changing the way I speak has helped me step away from labels and into alignment.
Because when we shift the words, we shift the outcome.

The body, the mind, and the soul — all of them are linked. Ignore one, and the others eventually stumble. Nurture them all, and life starts to feel lighter, clearer, more aligned.
But here’s the truth: alignment isn’t straightforward. It’s not something you “achieve” once and keep forever. It’s a work in progress. It takes effort, awareness, and the courage to bring yourself back when you slip — because you will slip. We all do.
In this episode, I talk about what the mind really needs (quiet, space, acknowledgment), what the body needs (movement, rest, fuel with purpose), and what the soul needs (trust and space to be heard).
I share my own commitments moving forward — to meditate daily, train daily, and eat with purpose rather than from emotion. And I introduce a new page going live on my site, where I’ll be sharing weekly updates and a podcast on how those practices are shifting my own body, mind, and soul.
This isn’t a “wow me” story. It’s not a “woe me” story either. It’s a show me story — so you can see what’s possible when we give each part of ourselves the attention it needs.
Because alignment isn’t about perfection. It’s about noticing, adjusting, and coming back — again and again.

Waking up to your soul doesn’t mean you stop being human.
We still get angry, frustrated, defensive. We still slam doors, lash out, or shut down sometimes. Those are distortions — the raw human reactions that come from ego, conditioning, and survival.
The difference is awareness.
In this episode, I share how I recently lost my cool with my neighbour over a parking space — and how awareness helped me catch myself, breathe, and shift from reaction to response.
Because soulful living isn’t about erasing our humanness. It’s about noticing the distortions, meeting them with presence, and choosing differently.
The spark doesn’t erase the human — it lights the way through it.

Alignment isn’t something you tick off a list — it’s something you feel your way into. It’s that deep gut sense that says, “this might not be easy, but it’s right.”
In this episode, I talk about what alignment has looked like in my own life — from fitness and sharing my journey, to speaking my truth through this podcast, to even walking away from plastering (and sometimes dipping a toe back in just to keep things afloat).
I share what it feels like to be aligned, what it feels like when I slip out of it, and the difference between comfort and alignment — because they’re not the same. Comfort might keep you safe, but alignment will set you free.
You’ll also get a simple practice you can use this week to notice where you’re aligned and where you’re not, so you can start making small choices that feel true.
Because alignment isn’t about chasing what feels good. It’s about following what feels right.

We spend so much of life chasing happiness like it’s hiding somewhere out there — but it was never lost. Happiness is already within us. It’s not something you find by searching, it’s something you recognise in the small sparks of everyday life.
But happiness alone isn’t the foundation. It flickers. It comes and goes. The deeper ground is peace. Not world peace, but peace within. The end of the war inside yourself.
In this episode, I share how peace comes from acceptance — from letting go of the fight with what you can’t control, and allowing yourself to stand steady in the storm.
You’ll hear how happiness has shown up even in my darkest days, and how peace has become the ground beneath me. And I’ll guide you through a simple practice to notice happiness and allow peace to rise in your own life.
Because happiness is fleeting. Peace is steady. And freedom is found in living awake to both.

What if the biggest trap isn’t addiction, money, ego, or comfort — but the lie that you don’t have a choice?
In this episode, I get real about the traps I’ve lived in: addiction that felt like survival, behaviours I thought were just who I was, the grind of plastering, the chase for approval, the masks of ego, even the quiet prison of comfort.
For years, I believed I didn’t have a choice. That was the trap.
But the truth is this: the moment you see the trap, freedom has already begun. You may not step out perfectly every time. You may stumble. But awareness itself is the crack that lets light in.
I’ll guide you through a simple practice to name your own traps and take one small step out.
Because seeing the trap is the first step to freedom. Stepping out is the second.

In this episode, I speak raw and real about what freedom truly means. Freedom isn’t about escaping life’s struggles — it’s about living with presence and awareness in the middle of them.
I share how childhood trauma, addiction, destructive behaviours, and despair once weighed me down until I was crawling… and how I began to rise by accepting what I couldn’t change, choosing what I could, and trusting my soul’s voice.
This episode is a fire for anyone who feels crushed by the weight of life. I’ll also guide you through a simple practice to put awareness and acceptance into action when the storm hits.
Because freedom isn’t found in certainty — it’s found in the courage to walk into the unknown.

In this episode, I get honest about the risks I’ve taken — walking away from the trade that kept me afloat, risking the stability I fought so hard to rebuild — and why I still chose to follow a different path.
From childhood trauma, addiction, and the damage I carried and caused, to stripping away the noise and finally hearing my soul’s voice, I share why I’m doing what I’m doing today.
This isn’t just about survival — it’s about alignment, purpose, and the courage to step into the unknown.
I’ll leave you with a simple practice to sit in stillness and listen to your own heart. Because the spark within you is still there — and if I can find mine after everything I’ve been through, then so can you.

In today’s episode, I get real about losing the plot — about the fog of debt, worry, and consumer pressure that pulled me off track. But as I speak it out, I remember why I started this journey in the first place.
This isn’t about money in the bank or ticking the boxes of “success.”
This is about remembering the truth: that freedom is already ours. We were born free, we live free, and nothing in this world can take that away.
I share openly about the struggle, the fear, and the weight — and then I stand back up, torch in hand, declaring again that I am walking into freedom.
If you’ve been buried under the same fog, this episode is for you. A reminder that you are powerful beyond measure, and that the vision placed in your heart is already on its way.

This is the beginning of Walking Into Freedom: The Daily Fire — a daily podcast sharing short sparks of truth, patience, and remembering. In this first episode, I introduce myself, Gareth Duffey (aka Thalen), and share the heart behind this journey. Every day I’ll bring you one flame: a reflection, a story, or a truth to help us strip away illusion and walk steadily into freedom together. Today’s anchor truth: Patience is being. Being is acceptance of what is.
