What is up, guys? Welcome to the Entrepreneur's Life Podcast. I'm your host, Carly Rains. It's been a hot minute. Okay. I took a month off. So if you're new here, this is a podcast where we talk about finding purpose as the helper to our small business owners in this feminist obsessed world. Okay, we are taking the biblical woman and we are exposing who she is, who she's not, the lies that the world gives us. And I am super excited to be back. Um, I'm super excited for this episode. I gotta let y'all know, I took a month off, clearly. Okay, if you were listening before you realize I took a month off. That was something that I actually didn't want to do, but I felt really called and really led by the Lord to do. And it's funny because I was actually preparing for an episode. I felt like the Lord was like, hey, you need to take a month off. You just had a baby, and so I was like, Oh, I don't want to take a month off, you know, like we're we've been gaining traction, and I know this is the thing, guys. It is not about the followers, and when I say that, I mean the number of followers. I shouldn't say it's not about the followers, it is about you, duh, it's about you, and it's about your growth in the Lord and who you're becoming and how this is helping you. So I need to take back how I worded that. But sometimes when you're creating things, you know, you can just get caught up in the numbers, whether it's money, whether it's how many people are listening, whether it's yada yada yada, how many people come or whatever it is. So um, that is what it's not about. And I it's funny because I feel like the Lord was testing me of like, hey, you just had a baby, I want you to take a month off. And this was actually before my husband and I decided to go on a two-week trip, sabbatical, if you will. We went on a two-week sabbatical. Um, very much needed. I am just gonna say, if you have a baby and you're in postpartum, you know, they talk about postpartum depression and all that stuff, go on vacation. Like, go on vacation, go somewhere beautiful. You don't even have to do anything because we took our camper and we just camped, and I really didn't do much. I mean, we walked around and we went to Zion, we went to Utah, Zion National Park, we went to Monument Valley, we went to another national park, we went to Brecking Ridge, Colorado. Highly recommend that beautiful place, and it really helped my mood. It it so much so, I mean, our God is so big, and when you go to the mountains and you're going to the canyons and you're seeing these ginormous, beautiful, incredible monuments, and you're driving through Utah and you're just seeing the beauty of God's creation, you really do realize how small you are in comparison to this big old earth and this big old universe and this big old God. And we were just driving, and y'all, it was so needed for my husband, it was so needed for myself, for our ambitions, our goals, for our family. Like it was so good all around. And we were driving back, and we were probably 20 minutes from home, and we just started talking about you know the plan moving forward, what we wanted to do moving forward. And in today's episode, I want to challenge you and I want to encourage you with this, okay. God can only bless as much as we are believing for, and this is a word for me. I mean, it's a word for you too, okay. But this is like something that I am needing to believe and walk in because the Lord just revealed this to me. Okay, so this year, the word for this year is blessed, and I feel like my husband, you know, we talk about being the entrepreneur's wife. I feel like my husband, being an entrepreneur, is so good at believing for more, believing big, dreaming big, going big. I mean, look at Texas Outlaw. If we just examine this business, it started with just him with a couple of races, with a tent and a table, and a truck he borrowed from his dad, and a tiny farmer's trailer, and you know, I mean, like 30 to 50 people the first year barely making any money, putting all the money back in the business so he can grow it. And now we we hit a huge milestone, and I and I want to say it because this is literally the Lord. We hit when I went and I want you to understand if you're not a business owner, um our like net worth is a million dollars. Like, we hit a million dollars this year, and it's amazing. I mean, it's like in going on six years, the Lord has blessed not just financially, I'm talking about relationships, opportunities. It's been hard, but it he has blessed the work and the labor of Briston's hands, and I don't think it would have been possible had Briston not dreamed big. I mean, when Briston started this business, guys, he was already dreaming big first year. It's just him, and it's so funny because we laugh because he's he talks about all these big plans, and you know, he talked would talk about these big plans and he would tell people about them, and people just don't have faith, they just don't dream big, so they would be like, Yeah, you know, probably not gonna happen, but yeah, you know, whatever, you know. He would talk about hiring employees and going nationwide and doing all this stuff, and you know, people meant well, but their their faith in the capability and the capacity of that was so limited, and I find myself doing that. It's like, okay, God, you know, you give me this idea, and I'm dreaming so small, and it's and and God convicted me. I'm reading in Philippi in Philippians, okay. The book that Paul is literally in prison in, talking about joy, the book where he's in in prison, and he he he literally talks about being lights in the world, and he talks about working out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. He talks about working out your salvation, working, and the Lord convicted me because the Lord was like, Carly, you are believing for so small. I like God is so much more capable than what I'm believing for, and you know, a big thing that happens, this happens, guys. This happens with you know capabilities of God like healing or answered prayers or redemption or whatever it is. Something goes wrong, something doesn't happen the way we thought it was, and so we think, oh, you know, well, that turned out like that, so that means this round it's probably gonna turn out like that, you know. And so we limit our faith. And this is probably why repeatedly, time and time again, Jesus is like, Oh, you have little faith. And you know, all the people who got healed, all the people that God did miraculous things for, guys, they were believing for big in Christ. Like in Christ, they were believing for big, and there was no doubt in their minds, and so that's what I want to encourage us today. I want to encourage us to believe big because if we believe big, we will be blessed. Like that is faith, believing big for things, and I'm bad about this, I'm not gonna lie, okay. Lord asked me to believe big for things. I'm not good at making requests, you know, because I'm like, well, it's whatever God's will is, right? I'm not good at being specific. So I want us to be specific. I want you to write down what do you need to believe big for? Like, is it your marriage? Is it your kids? You know, we got two daughters. What am I believing big for in their life? What am I believing big for in my marriage? I watched my parents their marriage be restored. That is an amazing miracle. And it's funny because a lot of couples go through what my parents went through. My mom cheated on my dad. Affairs happen sadly all the time. And it's like, okay, well, if my parents can make it and God can restore their marriage, if we work out our salvation, like the scripture is saying, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. If we work out our salvation, if we're working out our marriage and believing big, you know, my parents counsel couples, and my fear is that they're believing too small, they don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, they think there's no way for their marriage to be restored, and so they end in wanting a divorce because that's the only way that they can see. And it's like, no, guys, we gotta believe big for God. God can restore this, but you have to work. Like you have to partner with God in your faith. He's just not gonna just make it appear. This is something I'm you know, I'm going build. My husband on the way back, he said, Carly, he said, I don't want to be just, you know, comfortable where Texas Outlaw is. He said, I want to go big, I want to be bigger than Iron Man, I want to be bigger than Spartan, I want I want to go big and really make this thing the best endurance event company in the world. Which, guys, if you think about it, that is a huge goal. But I have no doubt that my husband is so capable, you know, he might not have all the knowledge or skills, but he's gonna find the right people and he's gonna work his tail off to do it. And he did say Lord willing, you know, at the end of that statement, he said, you know, it's gotta be Lord willing. And I love it because he's going big. You know, he's like a football team. They're like, hey, like we're we want to win the championship. Like, we're going big. And I want that to be us. So what are some things that you're going big for? I'm gonna I'm gonna list some examples for me. Okay, I want my YA fantasy book to be published, and not just self-published, no. I I want a big publishing company, one of the five, I'm gonna be specific, one of the five big house publishing companies. Okay, there's five big house publishing companies. I want one of them to sign for the book, for the book series. And it's like, am I willing to partner with God, but am I willing to put in the work that it's gonna require to get that? Because as we know in scripture, God looks at what we do with little things, and before he blesses us with big things, he makes sure we're gonna steward well the little things. So it's like, okay, God, if I want that, I gotta steward well my now. If I want that. Am I looking up how to write better? Am I doing what I can with the time that I have? You know, I'm not gonna overstretch myself, but am I doing what I can with the time that I have to prioritize my goals and my dreams and my aspirations so that he can bless them? Okay? Another thing that I have, I I want to run a marathon. I I so badly wanted to run a marathon last year and I got pregnant, and that humbled me, but I I want to run a marathon, guys. I want to get in shape, I want to lose weight, I want to be 150 pounds. The Lord, I've been praying for self-control with food, and it's been working. It partner with God, guys. Partner with God, it has been working. I uh what's another thing that I want to do? I my follower account on social media, I want to get it to like the hundred thousands. Why? Why do I want to get it to the hundred thousands? Because he goes on to say, lights in the world. You are light in the world, you are not supposed to be hidden. And I'm a stay-at-home mom, I'm an entrepreneur's wife, I don't get out much, so it can be very easy to be hidden. It can very be very easy to stay tiny and you know, just kind of be hidden and not not do much. No, I I am called to disciple my kids and raise my kids, but I'm also called to be a light in the world. So I want to be a light in the world, and I feel like the Lord, you know, he just he wants us out of our comfort zone. So where are you comfortable right now? And what's it gonna take to get out of that comfort zone? So for my follower account, I have to be intentional about my content. I have to be intentional about doing content around raising two daughters and being there for my husband. I have to be intentional about strategy and looking up what works and also praying about it. Like, am I praying over that video or that post? Am I praying about what to post or what to do the video for? I mean, these are things I look back at how I did things before I had kids and when I quit my job, we moved to Texas. I was literally doing content all the time. I look at how professional that content was, and I learned so much in that first year. Like so much, and I I want to return to that. I don't want it to be sloppy content where I just throw it out there. I want it to be intentional, I want it to be strategic, and it's gonna require work. Okay, so that's also another thing. I recently have started vlogging again. Okay, I I I enjoy that. My YouTube channel, I did that for like once a month, I would do a video, and it was fun. And it's funny, I follow, I there's no excuse, guys. There's no excuse. I feel like so many times God puts something on our heart, and we come up with the excuses of I don't have time, I'm too busy, well, I have all this stuff, and we come up in our heads with with well, if only, you know, if only I didn't have this full-time job, if only I didn't have, you know, as many kids, or if only I didn't have this priority going on, if only I didn't commit to this, or yada yada yada, fill in the blank. And I think sometimes the Lord tests us and and sees, are you going to prioritize your time and are you going to make time for the things that I'm putting in your heart? Because, for example, I follow a girl who literally has a full-time job as a nurse, and she does content, she does a once-a-week vlog, plus every day she posts on her social media, and she's a full-time nurse, and she's married, and she doesn't have kids yet, but she still works out, she works, she finds time to go to the gym, she works out, she gets her steps in. I that guys, that is what we should be after. We should be after a disciplined, prioritized life and get out of our comfort zone, you know. I have like I said, I have two kids. Okay, so if I'm gonna prioritize my fitness and run a marathon, that means I'm gonna have to go to bed early. That means I'm gonna have to get up before the kids wake up and work out if I want to get a good quality workout in. And thank the Lord, I established this habit before having our second daughter. I established, I actually established this habit through college athletics because we had to get up for morning practice, and so I really do enjoy um morning workouts. I thank God I had to go on a strict diet because that has now helped me with my nutrition now because I think back to what I ate before and I'm like, okay, well, that was super healthy, so I'm gonna try to eat that, you know. So, you know, dream big. But if you're gonna dream big, we have to establish steps to get to that dream. It's like a staircase, if you will, up to heaven. Okay, Jesus paved the way He He paved the steps to get to heaven. And he thank God for his grace and for his forgiveness, that is kind of like an out an elevator or an escalator to get us to heaven. Okay, but I don't want us to be lazy Christians. I'm not saying that salvation is achieved through works. Okay, salvation is not achieved through works, salvation is only achieved through Christ, the cross. Okay, that is not done on our own, that is done through something that he did, the work that he did. Excuse me, sorry, I had a bird. But because of that work, we now, if you ever watch The Pilgrim's Progress, oh my gosh, I might do a whole episode about that. But The Pilgrim's Progress is a beautiful example because he paved the path, the steps for us to take. But guys, we gotta take the steps. We just can't be sitting here lazy Christians and be like, well, you know, something that I I will say very much frustrates Briston and I. And it's all it is is a lack of knowledge. Something that frustrates us, and this is a perfect example, is we know of very good-hearted, devout Christians who want God to bless their finances, and yet it's like, okay, God, like, please bless our finances, you know, we we give, we tithe, please bless our finances, please bless our ministry, yada yada yada. And yet they're not applying financial disciplines for him to bless. So something I want to say is it's not just blind faith, if you will. Um, it requires some spiritual discipline. So if you're wanting God to bless your finances, this is what Brister and I believe. If you're wanting God to bless your finances, the first step that you should be doing is giving, you should also be making sure that you're stewarding your finances wisely. So look up on Google financial wise decisions and concepts that you should be doing. Saving, giving, budgeting, investing. Like if you want God to bless that, I I truly believe God's not gonna bless foolish behavior, God's gonna bless a wise man. And a wise man is not just someone who sits down and reads the word for their faith category. A wise man applies it to all areas of their life. You want good health, and you're praying to the Lord for your health. Okay, let's also consider am I moving my body? Am I taking care of my body? Am I eating good foods? I mean, the whole physical and spiritual applications go hand in hand, and I feel like sometimes we neglect that, and that goes for our goals too. We can't say, Lord, bless this idea. That you've given me, I believe that you've given me, without also saying I am willing to put in the physical work and labor that it's going to require. And no, hard work and ambition is not in vain when the house, when the Lord builds the house. Like literally, scripture says, if the Lord didn't build the house, it's in vain. But if the Lord did build the house, it is not in vain. And so sometimes I feel like we look at ambition and we look at hard work and we say, oh, well, that's selfish. That's you're doing that for you. Or that's too much. It's an idol. Or you're you're you're over extreme or you're whatever. And yes, can it become those things? Can it become an idol? Can it become too much? Can it become an extreme? Absolutely. But you know what it can also become? A light through which you can share the gospel through. I mean, I look at I I've been following a lot of, you know, we're in the fitness industry of Texas Outlaw. So I follow a lot of fitness people. I there are influencers who are not Christian, and there are fitness people who are Christian. And I love how they parallel fitness and discipline with faith. And it is a perfect outlet to be a light and share the gospel. It is perfect. And we are actually in the month of June, I'm gonna start advertising this. We're actually doing a clean fast where we're gonna focus on habits and nutrition and pair them together: food and our habits. And we are going to do a clean fast. So what do I need to throw out in my pantry? What do I also need to throw out in my habits that are not good habits that are leading me away from Christ? This is how we are the light of the world. I I told Briston on the drive home, I said, Briston, I said, I am so thankful because y'all, I sorry now I just interrupted that statement, but I said, I am so thankful that the Lord put us in a secular marketplace as a career job. And one day I do believe we will be in ministry, like full-time ministry. But I said, I am so thankful that he started us out in you know, secular world job wise. Why? Because he has given me this perspective of 90% of Christians are in this position where they have just, if you will, a normal job. 90% of Christians. So it number one, it helps me relate to what they're going through, their lifestyle, because you know, we have similar jobs and stuff. Number two, it helps when figuring out how to share to be the light of the world. Like being the light of the world is not just saying, Hey, do you know about Jesus? Hey, do you want to come to church with me? Yes, is that a part of it? Absolutely. But being the light of the world is looking at your life and saying, Is how I'm living? Is it actually being a testimony to others? Like if if we never spoke, if I never wore a Jesus shirt, if I never wore a cross necklace, if I never wore a hat or whatever, if no one ever knew that I went to church, could they tell by my lifestyle that I followed Christ based on what I did, the music I listened to, my priorities, how I lived my life, my discipline. Could they tell, hey, this person actually has the fruits of the spirit? This person has self-control, this person is patient, this person is kind. This person actually is pretty disciplined. Like they say what their yes is yes and their no is no. So when they say they're gonna do something, when they set a goal, they actually accomplish it. Would people actually see that in my life? Am I being slothful? Am I being foolish with my money? Am I being slothful with my labor? Today I was so tempted just to scroll on social media. Bradley's playing, Karsten's asleep. Yeah, let me just sit in the chair and scroll on social media. Oh, that was so tempting. And yet in the back of my mind, there are assignments and there are goals that I know the Lord has given me. And it's like, Carly, you cannot be mad at the end of the year if you don't reach these goals of a hundred thousand followers or subscribers. Like 100K is what I want to reach. 100K. Okay. You cannot be mad if you don't reach that, or you cannot be mad if you don't grow your email list, or you cannot be mad if you don't get your Kickstarter campaign for your children's book going. You cannot be mad if you don't train for the marathon. You cannot be mad if you don't lose weight if you're not willing to put in the work. If you're not willing to put in the work, don't be mad that you're not accomplishing it. It's as simple as that. As simple as that, guys. Be the light of the world. That is my encouragement for this episode is does your life, apart from what you say, what you like on social media, does your life actually shine for him? And are we dreaming big enough? Because the Lord does want to bless us. I mean, he loves, I've I believe he loves blessing his children. He loves giving us more. He wants to give us more, he wants us to manage more, he wants us to fulfill the great commission. But we gotta we gotta dream big. We gotta have a big faith. We gotta be willing to put in that work too. We gotta count the cost as as uh you know Jesus says, count the cost. So that's my encouragement for you today. Work out your salvation. What are you working towards? What godly assignment has he put in your heart and go for it. Go for it. Like, don't settle. If it fails, try try again, as the poem says. And if it fails, guys, at least you can stand in front of the Lord and say, God, I tried. Like, I really tried. I went all in. There was no doubt. I was not doubting Thomas. I went all in, I ran the race to the fullness. I gave it my all. I ran as fast as I could, as hard as I could. I trained so hard, and I ran and gave it my all. And at least I tried for your glory. At least I tried, and the Lord's gonna bless that. So welcome back. This is the first episode, and we're not playing here. Okay, we're gonna live a life of discipline, we're gonna live a life of enjoyment, we're gonna live a life, we're gonna live a life of putting in the work. Because personally, I'm tired of being where I'm at, and I wanna see, guys, I wanna see God move big. But I gotta believe big. And I gotta, I I have to be willing to set up the scene and the opportunities for him to, you know, be big in my life. And play big. I gotta give him the opportunities through faith to do big things in my life. I love you guys. I hope you all enjoyed this episode. It's great to be back. Have a great, blessed day. I'm gonna be praying for you. Alright, peace out.
