Speaker 1Yeah , we're just going to talk about life , have some comedy , have a whole lot of guests on . Not right now obviously because it's our first episode , but it's going to be a good time and we hope that we bring joy and laughter and anger to people .

Speaker 1So we might as well bring it to everybody else in the world . We didn't even argue today , though .
Speaker 2Yeah , we did this morning in the car when you dropped me off at work because my niece and nephew are coming over .
Speaker 2Our niece and nephew are coming over . Our niece and nephew . Even I was like we need to baby proof the house . And you were like like what ? And I was like you don't know what baby proofing is . You said it's impossible to baby proof our house , and so I got salty and I started going over a list , as we're late for work . I sat in the car . I said okay , so the knives that are in this vegetable drawer , take those away . The candle that's in this drawer , take it away . Like . And you're like okay , I understand , I'm supposed to be at work right now .
Speaker 1I gotta go I made it to work and I still waved bye at you yeah I love you . That's how we do things around here we are you and wave bye I was fine when I got off work well I would hope so . It was a good , nice eight hours of meetings , yeah and understanding that I understand baby proofing do you know ?
Speaker 2all right , I was gonna say tell me a few more things , so picture our home and imagine like kids walking around what do we need to take away ? Because we got to do this after the podcast stuff such as um stuff okay , so things they'll put in their mouth we have those things . Speaker 1I could only live there if money wasn't a problem , because it's kind of expensive .
Speaker 2Well , I feel like our prices here are what the prices were there , so I can only imagine what it is now .

Speaker 1Honestly , we cruise so much just be hopping on these boats . Number two probably Spain . I wanted to see the architecture of Spain like what kind of architecture , like the way their buildings are the way that they have , like old school , still true to who they are .
Speaker 2There's a lot of culture there .
Speaker 1There we go . Culture . That's what I'm looking for .

Speaker 1Would also probably money , not an option . Abu . Dhabi .

Speaker 1So what's been going on with you this week ?
Speaker 2I work , work , work , work work yeah , what do you do ?
Speaker 1I don't actually manage a fantasy football team oh yeah I'm actually a barber , I actually just cut hair .
Speaker 2Not just .
Speaker 1Yeah , I mean , you can change people's lives yeah . I own my own barber shop . Talk to people , enjoy everything that I do , meet a lot of great people . It's a fun time .
Speaker 2You could be the reason someone gets a girlfriend by having a good cut before going out .
Speaker 1I like to think more of the wife line . I like to go straight for it Get them a wife .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1I don't want to get a girlfriend , because then they might break up and then they're depressed and they don't get their hair cut for a while .
Speaker 2Yeah , I don't know what to say about that .
Speaker 1I hope they straight up find their wife . Yeah , I bet a lot of cool people have a lot of great friends in the great business that I do . It's great business , I enjoy it .

Speaker 2yeah , I do . I've done a few different parts of it and I enjoy it . It's like a love-hate relationship , but mostly love .
Speaker 1What's the part you don't like about it ?
Speaker 2The healthcare system is broken . Don't even get me down that road , but the difference we can make is what makes it worth doing , even if 90% of it sucks , the 10% of people that you actually affect their life and they tell you and show you that it's life changing that's so kind of you , I think the part that I don't like the most is the hair that gets all over me that doesn't happen to me . It's a lot of other things that gets all over me . Yeah , that doesn't happen to me .

Speaker 2not winning , well , not winning .
Speaker 1Not winning the Dream Team Award .
Speaker 2I would say surviving this meeting , this IDT meeting I did today . That was literally all day .
Speaker 1Yeah , that's a win . Meetings all day , it's a win . I'm out on that , yep .

Speaker 1It depends on the meeting . I guess they got you Jersey , Mike's .
Speaker 2I know , dude . Actually that's my win .

Speaker 1My biggest win this week I mean outside of today , which I still plan to do after dinner .
Speaker 2I've been to the gym every day this week . I know Air fist bump .

Speaker 1We're like a whole five feet away . I could lay down and barely touch you . Wow , you're not very tall .
Speaker 2I'm not Sorry , size doesn't matter .

Speaker 2That's about average .
Speaker 1Maybe I don't know . I'm not really sure what the average height of an American male is . I feel like it's more like 5'9 oh , we're talking about height .
Speaker 2Anyways , tim , if slash , when we have kids , what's one hobby that you hope they enjoy ?
Career Talk: Barber & Nurse Life
Speaker 2Like that you'll encourage them to do .
Speaker 1Hmm , A hobby I would enjoy that . I would encourage them to do . I want them to enjoy it . But I'm definitely going to encourage basketball , yeah , but I hope they enjoy it .
Speaker 2I'm not going to encourage them if they don't enjoy it , I'm not going to encourage football as much , but if they enjoy it , they enjoy it .
Speaker 1I'm not going to encourage it if they don't enjoy it . I'm not going to encourage football as much . But if they enjoy it , I enjoy it , but I don't know that I would encourage it . Another thing would probably be like Jiu Jitsu . I hope they have some kind of Jiu Jitsu want not so much boxing or kickboxing , but Jiu Jitsu is a little bit easier on the brain yeah , and that's girl or boy and , uh , you know definitely just anything outdoors I'm all in on hunting , fishing a hundred percent fishing is a must yeah , I'm definitely gonna encourage that if they don't like fishing , then I'm using them as bait .

Speaker 1I think the key to fishing is to get them to perch fish early on so they're actually catching .
Speaker 2That's a trick of me . Still , I'm like . I caught eight fish today and they're the size of the bait that Tim uses .

Speaker 1What's the I don't want to call it fail , even though that's the question what's the funniest fail of the week ?
Speaker 2for you ?
Speaker 1I don't feel like fails are funny .
Speaker 2That's what I was like .
Speaker 1Maybe they can be . Maybe if you look at it like an epic YouTube fail where it's like oh , I fell down walking somewhere .
Speaker 2You know Vine , Anyway , I miss Vine .
Speaker 1Yeah , vine fell , there we go .
Speaker 2I didn't almost drop my croissant .
Speaker 1That's because we don't eat croissants .
Speaker 2I went to bed late last night and I felt like I'd been doing pretty good my win for the week . I washed and changed our sheets yesterday because Mugshot hair was all over it . That's another win .

Speaker 2No , we really do , but it's just like one day and Mugshot's hair is everywhere and you feel like you've got to change them again .
Speaker 1Mugshot is a little dog . He's about 13 pounds , so the amount of hair that comes off of that little fella is astonishing it just blows my mind . I don't understand it , but Like how can ? A short-haired dog shed so much hair .
Speaker 2That's probably a thing , and we just sound like we don't know what we're talking about .
Speaker 1That's exactly what that is , Bobo . It's okay . Look , we didn't claim to be veterinarians .

Speaker 2Well , being put on the spot is different . I want our kid to play soccer . I'm going to encourage soccer . I really enjoyed it a lot .

Speaker 2Do you think you'll coach our kids' basketball team ?
Speaker 1I hope so .
Speaker 2That'd be cool . I'll coach football . I got , so That'd be cool . I'll coach football more . I got first place in fantasy last year .
Speaker 1I wouldn't mind locking into a football either If I could get a coordinator position or just something random , not head coach . I don't want to go to Little League head coach , I ain't that good . Give me an offensive coordinator for kids , I could do that . They don't fill the ball very much .
Speaker 2What would that even entail ?
Speaker 1Play calling . You play call the offensive , play call how many plays can you even have for different ? Age ranges . I think if you do four , five and six , you pretty much ten . I honestly think that all the way through college you could only have ten plays . I feel , like they have more than ten in high school . Dude , they do . But here's what I'm saying . You could have 10 and make variations of those 10 .
Speaker 1So you would call them random names and then you would have like three variations of those 10 plays . So like if you're playing play seven , for instance , you could have three variations of that play , with the route to go different ways , or you can make it go a different way and it makes it way less complex for players . Oklahoma State used to do that a long time ago with , like the Mason Rudolph era they really only had about 13 or 14 plays and they would call them randomly , but they would have like five variations of each play .
Speaker 1So I mean , I guess technically it's you know 45 .
Speaker 2Mason , rudolph yeah people used to say that all the time they would sing that when he had a good game and they would make highlights video of it .
Speaker 1Yeah , he's a great quarterback , top three quarterback of all time at Oklahoma State . I don't know what it's like . Those days are long past us at this point .
Speaker 2If you could choose any job , would you be a basketball coach or a barber ?
Speaker 1It's a tough question . Would you be a basketball coach or a barber ?
Speaker 2It's a tough question because I've got to think of making a real living . Money's not , it's just for fun .
Speaker 1We're good on money babes . Yeah , I would coach basketball . And I would probably do it . Anyways , even though my pay would honestly probably be cut in half at this point in life , I would still probably do it because I care way more about the players , the sport , the atmosphere , what it's around . What age , I'd do high school .
Speaker 2Like ninth grade .
Speaker 1Oh , ninth through 12th , I would do varsity , high school , I mean , where I would stop would be sixth , I wouldn't go any lower . Yeah , I mean it's .
Speaker 2I enjoyed it .
Speaker 1You know , when I did the AAU , it was six , seven . It was fun .
Speaker 2Yeah , that was cool . I actually enjoyed going to those games .
Speaker 1Yeah , we had a , I mean we really had .
Speaker 2We didn't call a lot of offensive play calls because I think in the game of basketball you only need to call them when you don't have a rhythm , and then if your team , if they practice enough or if they have enough ability , you just let the game flow .
Speaker 1Defensively is kind of the same way . I'm not a big play caller on on basketball . I'm not a big fan of it never have been . But I , I like to slow , I like to play hard defense and just run if you just hustle the problem is , if you're playing a team that's more athletic and has better gameplay than you , you've got to kind of slow the game down . That's where offensive play calls come into play . Or if you need some momentum you've got to call a play call .
Speaker 2How do you choose what to practice and you practice how many times a week ? What would the goal be ?
Speaker 1I know you've never like coached high school , but well every day every day like after school , yeah , um technically in high school you can't start until I think it's october one to practice after school . But oh really , you know that's what pe is for , so you should practice every day and now , obviously up until like october one for after school . I think it's strictly conditioning these kids have been off three , four months . They probably haven't picked up basketball or ran one time over the summer .
Speaker 1You may have one of 15 players that do , but for the most part they're out of shape and you've got to get in shape . And the way that I want my team to play . We're going to have to get in shape . It's all conditioning . And then once you get out of it . You practice every day . I don't care what age you are , what grade you are . You practice fundamentals for the first 10-15 minutes you run through a dribbling drill .
Speaker 2You run through a run-through drill , a movement drill . How long is practice ?
Speaker 1I think it depends . An hour is a good practice If you're doing an hour in school . An hour after school is plenty , because that means you're getting two hours of practice a day and that's pretty good .
Speaker 2You know what I just thought of Saturday morning , we need to go to the market , what's it called ? Okay , yeah , I think it may be over , we may have to look at it .
Speaker 1I think last week might have been last week .
Speaker 2It's not a flea market , farmer's market . Farmer's market Farmer's market .
Speaker 1Yeah , but basketball is fundamentally based . I think that if you stick to the fundamentals , you have an advantage over a lot of teams that may be more athletic than you or lack the fundamentals that your team has , and then , when you use fundamentals , you use it for everything . If you start with a fundamental , typically your next play or your next movement is going to be fundamentally sound .
Speaker 1You don't turn the ball over , don't create , you don't foul a lot , you know , keep the game out of the referee's hands and you make shots . Basketball is also a game of luck Calls got to go your ways a lot more than people think .
Speaker 2Because of calls and the ball , but not shots , I mean there kind of .
Speaker 1So sometimes you just need a shot to fall that doesn't look like it's going to . Sometimes you need the ball to go out of bounds in your favor . Sometimes you need it to go a direction in your favor . You need a tip pass to go to an area that helps you score . I think it's a lot of luck that people don't understand . I've always said that , Obviously .
Speaker 1I'm not a high school basketball coach . But if you were a high school basketball coach , to win the state championship you've got to have talent and you've got to have a lot of love .
Speaker 2I've been there , done that .
Speaker 1Just kidding I was like which part State championship I have . It's a good time Shout out to him 2009 , gang , gang , you know . Yeah , I could ask you the same question realistically if you weren't an artist . What do you think you'd be doing ?
Speaker 2I would run a non-profit that probably still had to do with

Speaker 2health care or just overall helping people , specifically the homeless . I've always had a special place in my heart for them , but shoot , if mine is not an option . I'd be helping people Kids , humans , adults , dogs yeah , the dogs for sure . We might have like 18 of them , but not in the home We'd be like properly taking care of them .
Speaker 1I wouldn't mind going into ranching . Yeah , you know , just full-time ranching . Yeah , I know just full-time ranching .
Speaker 2Yeah , I'd get you a John Deere tractor .
Speaker 1Thank you , I would love that , and if there was something random that . I had to choose , like just a random job that I wouldn't mind doing it's running a bar like a bar and grill .
Speaker 2You're thinking of Virgin River . Yeah , yeah , yeah .
Speaker 1I knew it . I mean , come on , that's the idea you go to a mountain town , you open a bar and grill randomly in a mountain town and you just live the dream .
Speaker 2When I went to Alaska .
Speaker 1That's what I was like if all else failed .
Speaker 2I would just go to like somewhere in Alaska or Colorado or somewhere in a mountain town that's touristy , open a bar and grill .
Speaker 1Definitely Live the life . I would get really good at pool , I mean , I already am .
Speaker 2You're way better than me , that's for sure . Oh yeah , my grandpa taught me what you sound like you're about to ask something ?
Speaker 1Yeah , I was just thinking about the first time that we met .

Speaker 1Not the first time . We've been married . Seven years , almost , almost October 2nd it's coming up really quick . First time we met at youth group night I mean , we went to youth group . Yeah , but that was the first time we met .
Speaker 2Yeah , I don't really remember what happened at youth group . Oh me neither Like afterwards . When you and Richard tried , you were going to steal some tires , so you were just going to criminalize us on our first podcast , 100% it's a true story .

Speaker 1Yeah , we didn't do it , we were just going to do it . Our minds came correct and said let's not do it .

Speaker 1At that time . No , it's hard to date when you've never met somebody .

Speaker 1Oh , after , I mean kind of If that's what you want to call it . We kind of dated after very shortly , briefly , something like that . You know , high school , love bugs , love bugs , high school for one of us .
Speaker 2Oh well , I was in eighth grade .
Speaker 1Close enough . I don't even know I wasn't in ninth I graduated three years before you . That's fine Wait .
Speaker 2We stayed friends for a really long time .
Speaker 1I graduated in 12 . So yeah , three years .
Speaker 2Long story short . We met at youth group . We dated for like two weeks . And then I because I wore some other guy's hat at a graduation and I took a picture of it and posted it on Facebook , so he broke up with me . But really I think it was like my phone got taken away or something stupid . It broke , yeah .
Speaker 1And so then it was like my phone got taken away or something stupid , it broke , yeah , and so then it was over there from there . Yeah , I broke up with you texting somebody else .
Speaker 2But then when I got , but then when I got a phone again , we just continued to stay friends for like the next five years .
Speaker 1Yeah , we built a very strong .
Speaker 2Well , yeah , I got mad at you a lot . You were dumb , you were stupid . I'm sorry you changed . But boy you would make me so mad . That's alright . I love you .

Speaker 2He enjoyed Reese's and he just wanted to be free .

Speaker 2It was a glass jar you broke . He was out of it . I was mad so I threw the glass jar .

I showed her our ticket and they put us in line and we ended up ziplining through this whole rainforest and then doing the waterfall jumps and there was like multiple extra jumps too yeah , we had like four extra jumps and then we have to do the hike through the rainforest and then zip line all the way back down .
