ISC Construction Program: Auto-Bind a GL Policy in 15 Minutes
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A completed construction GL application, signed through e-sign, can auto-bind on ISC's platform in about 15 minutes. No underwriter has to touch it.
In this episode, Ryan Janicki, VP of Construction Programs at ISC (17 years with the company, leading a team of 16), gives a detailed walkthrough of quoting GL on the OMGA platform: choosing between Standard (a la carte buybacks), Plus (buybacks included), and Advantage (ISO CG forms, the option for brokers who need standardized language or a 30-day notice of cancellation to a third party). He shows how new-venture eligibility changes by tier and years in business, how to "clone" a quote from Standard into Plus or Advantage without re-entering data, and how Builders Risk is capped at $2 million TIV on this platform, though ISC's Abacus/Entertainment business unit can take projects up to $25 million TIV if a client's project outgrows it.
Also touched on: bundling Tools & Equipment (Inland Marine) and excess (which must sit over ISC's own GL) into the same application, why pollution/environmental coverage now routes to a separate underwriting team, custom agency-branded documents, and ISC's August promotion: an extra $50 per Standard GL bind (renewals count too), plus a $100 bonus after two binds.

I am VP for I'S OMJ construction programs, which is basically all the programs we offer on our OMJ platform. my team is about 16 of us. I've been with ISE for the past 17 years. if I do go too quickly, feel free to unmute or post your questions and I can, answer those or dive deeper into anything you might, need more clarification on. with that being said, I'm gonna get going. Hopefully everyone can see my screen up here. Thumbs up. Good to go? Yes. Awesome. All right, so this is our OMJ platform. This is how it would look for you as an agent. all the programs we offer here at ISC for my division, will be listed on the left hand side. We have three different, GL programs. They're all A rated with a and best company or carriers. they are all non-admitted. we have Standard Plus and Advantage. There is a little compare coverage. So it'll kind of give you the bird's eye view of the three different programs. Standard is what we would call the a la carte program. There's some buyback endorsements that you can add to the, quote that would provide coverage that would typically be excluded. the plus program, what I call it, the mid-tier program, it basically gives all the buybacks here from the standard. It's all included with our plus program. Then Advantage is our newest program. It's our iso, form co, policy. So if you guys are needing the ISO CG Forms advantage would be the one to utilize. the limits we offer are higher with the fire legal. So if they're needing that 300 fire legal only options would be our plus or Advantage. Gives you a quick breakdown, some notes here. if you have guys that need the 30 day notice of cancellation to a third party, then the Advantage Program would be the only one we could offer that in. all three programs are in all, 50 states. down here we have our excess program. Our excess has to be over RGL so it has to be supported with our GL program. we do offer an excess over everything through a different division with ISC, but for the programs that we offer here. the excess would be only available for RGL. The next program listed here is your environmental. That is actually, one of our newer programs For ISC, it is handled by a different underwriting team. you can click here and get going with a quote, but it would go into a different division. my team would not handle these, but it is available. and then this one is our Marine for their tools and equipment. We have miscellaneous tool coverage for anything under a thousand dollars you can have scheduled equipment for anything with a valuation of a thousand dollars or more. And then last we have our Builders Risk program, which is a, course of construction program. and it has a TIV of $2 million. these two programs you can quote individually. the excess, you just have to have with r gl. let's get going in one of the standard quotes. this is how you would start a quote, and any of these would populate the same quick quote, section You would just type in the first section of this, Information. as you're doing this, the system is thinking and once you complete the quick quote, you would be able to receive some price indications down here. you just simply fill in everything here. If there is any gray, you do gotta put something in there. We do take new adventures in standard for all class codes available. the advantage is the one that, and plus we do have some requirements, but I'll show you that, later on. if they need a premise only policy 'cause they have a builders with, with you through a different program or. You want to do the premise only with our builder's wrist, you'd simply select yes there. and then put in that location right here is the class codes we offer with our programs. We go off of a class code description like this. if you see the class code available on this list. we do write it. you can select any one of these and, start getting a pricing indication. So if I select the, painting, class code, I completed the top section, get that zero out of there. There we go. We get our pricing down below. we have an occurrence form and our claims made form, so you'll see that there is a price delta. the claims made is gonna give 'em a limited window of when the coverage is actually gonna be there. Occurrence. covers up to the statute of limitation for that class code in the state. you can select your limits here, which is we offer all the way down to a hundred K or up to the 1, 2, 2 limit. If they need anything higher than a 1, 2, 2, you would select 1, 2 2 and then add the excess, for your client. And then if you need to get into the fire legal, that little plus button that was there, we'll drop in those two additional classes or limits that you can adjust. We go up to 10,000. Or the hundred k. for fire legal and our standard self-insured retention, it's default to 25. It goes as low as a thousand or up to 10,000. If they did have a loss, you would want to indicate that here. If they have material costs for all their, materials they would need for their operations, you would indicate that desired effective date you would want to select here and you can select the dates. We don't. Back date. So it'd be today's date or future. and then if they are working in additional states, you'd simply select the states that they would be working in. if you needed to ever remove it, you simply remove it. If you see these icons, you can hover over 'em and it'll kind of give you a indication of what it's asking for. Obviously with having painting, we're not gonna have any option to do structural 'cause you're not supposed to be doing that as a painter. if you needed to add additional codes you would change the percentage total from less than a hundred to. 95 or whatever percentage you might use, select additional class codes. if this is a guy that paints interior and exterior, you select that secondary class code, you'll see the price does go up a little bit for that exterior exposure. but not much. Here is where the, a la carte term comes about. so obviously the top part is the endorsements. We offer AI endorsements down below that. Is where you can add the buybacks for coverage they might be wanting. So for a painter and you want over spray, he would select the over spray. Systems in, I think give you those indications. You can do 50, a hundred or two 50, thousand in, in, coverage. if they decide, yeah, I don't wanna pay the extra cost for that, never had one of those claims in the past, whatever the case might be, you can remove it. and then make sure you, when you do, Sele or one one of these types of quotes. by just simply clicking on it and you'll see that check mark indicating which program you are in. these are all the different buybacks that we have available, as I was saying earlier, plus these are all included, so you don't have to sit there and a la carte. Anything right here is where you would indicate if you want to add a agency fee broker fee. whether you wanna disclose it or not. And then these are the payment options. if you have, a third party that you would like to use, feel free. These three, finance companies, we work with their, system and it will generate a finance agreement, within the app packet. Once you complete your quote, you would just answer these additional company questions. If the Applicant wants to proceed. you just hit yes if he's licensed, no, if he's not, all that fun stuff about his agent or for his personal info. Right here is the description of what is expected in the class codes you've, selected. If this doesn't fit exactly what your client's doing, you can hit no. If you do hit no, you're gonna get this popup. And what this is saying is, we have automation within our system. if it fits within a certain class code, gross receipt, the system can automatically approve it. So it'll never come to my team. It will indicate that, you got an approved quote. If you want to proceed, you can. if you do select this, it's always gonna come to my team. we pride ourselves on getting quotes back to our agents quickly. if you select no, don't feel like it's gonna take days. we try to get everything back within the hour So. Here's gonna be where you put your percentages of what they're actually gonna be doing. Is it new remodel, repair. The percentage versus the residential and commercial. How many stories are going up and interior as well. you just indicate that there. this is additional underwriting questions you would be, answering on behalf of your client. The one thing we don't allow for this one is gonna be the new multi-unit, condos, town homes, stuff like that. So the standard doesn't allow it. So if you do answer that, yes, it wouldn't qualify for this program. but you just go through here, answer these questions, and then once this thing hits a hundred percent, you can hit a request approval, which would come over to my team. Or be auto approved through the system. here there's additional programs that I was showing you in the start. you can package them with one app id. if they needed higher limits, you're gonna hit yes to this. Accept those changes. So it's automatically force it to a 1, 2, 2, add the non eroding. You'll see price changing there, and then you can simply select the different, limit that they want. So we do 1 million all the way up to 5 million. once you select that, it's gonna give you your total pricing. Right here with the breakdown. the policy costs on the GL 15, 13 37. this one is, I did just a hundred grand, so this is just a hundred thousand dollars paying interior. but yeah, you can come in here and, change it to 150. for us, we seem to be kind of more in the mom and pop section of the construction world. bulk of our contractors that we write are in that 250 grand or less. we do have guys that go up, all the way up to about 5 million, occasionally over the 5 million. but When they start getting into the tens and the 20 millions worth of construction work they're doing projects that wouldn't fit our program endorsement. they offered the ISO endorsements are only gonna be offered on that Advantage program. the standard and plus are, manuscript forms. equivalent to the ISO endorsements. and then, so yeah, so back to the different programs. So you can add it in here, you can add the auto if you wanna have it over their commercial auto or both, or comp, and you just would toggle that you'll have additional underwriting. questions to answer. if you don't want it, simply turn it back off. Same goes for your work comp. If you want the excess to go over the work comp policy, you could just answer that there. and if you say, yeah, I don't want the excess at this time, you can simply take it off one thing you wouldn't have the ability to do, which. We would do after it came to us, is removing that non eroding endorsement. you'll see the pricing is higher. Right now that is due to one, the limits were bumped up, but there is an endorsement, right here. We just remove and it should bring us back down to that original quoted price. And then. If you go down further, so this is where you can add the, in the Marine, so that's their tools and equipment. If you want to add that policy in there defaults on our bundle one, which is miscellaneous tools. So if a thousand dollars or less, so up to 10 grand. Easy bundle to get going for 'em. Bundle two, you'll have the, miscellaneous tools, but five KK in office content does need to be a commercial location, so it can't be a home office at their house. does need to actually be a commercial location if you need to schedule some equipment because it is exceeding that thousand dollars mark. Then you would simply do the various custom and then it'll give you the additional line items. if you want to have any kind of quick indication of what each one is, you just hover over these little I icons. the, schedule light medium. is for 50,000 or less, but anything over 50 grand would be required to be scheduled under the heavy, limit. if there's multiple things that make up to 10 grand, you would just schedule your first one, put it in the indication, and then change this to five. Then it'll add in another one, what's the next equipment, and so on. So, and then you can always remove 'em. same thing goes for your, heavy items. This, add that in there, select what it is. If it's not listed here, you put other, explain it. simply right here again, your make model serial number. You can always go backwards on this. if you only did the miscellaneous, you would still get that bundle one, quote, price. if you didn't want it, you simply remove it and then it'll update back to that original one. The builder's risk is where you, if you needed builder's risk for your client, gives you kind of some of the bullet points of what's, eligible. you just simply add the yes here again, it put you into your builder's risk. Quote, property location, what's existing value, how much is going in. These two both can't exceed two mil, like I was saying. you would simply go through your builder's risk application, if they wanted to add that in there. if not, you just hit no. this is the only program, like I was saying earlier, if you do add this in, it will generate a separate app Id once you finish. we have, gone up to 60%, completed in the past. there might be some additional underwriting questions you might get. we want to know if there's any previous builder's risk policy. why did it take longer than, expected? we would require some current photos to review to make sure everything's in good standings. But yeah, so if you do want to add the, can you share those? So this is how to bundle the GL with that. if you're, you know, moving on, you wanted to move on to that next one and quote someone's standalone builder's wrist, you would hit save. It's actually gonna take you to your, page with your app. Id giving us this app ID allows us to look at exactly what you're looking at. But if you wanted to just do builder's risk with us, you simply click on the Builder's Risk Program. And it's the same app that you just saw on the bundle. they are individual policies. So if you did the GL and added the builder's risk, it's two different policies. it'll give you one app ID where this one, you would have your own separate app ID for the builder's risk. If you do exceed that 2 million TIV, it is gonna let you know, hey, it exceeds our program. we have another business unit, through ISC through Abacus. they do focus majority on entertainment insurance. but they actually do have a good builder's risk program that goes up to 25 million, for, TIV. So if it doesn't fit us at the 2 million threshold. We do have another BU that can go up to a much higher TIV limit. this is what it would look like as you're in the progress of completing the app. It'll tell you, you know, some of those indi indications you saw through the app. the program you selected, the carrier that is gonna be bound with, if it proceeded cost the desired effective date. And then this is another way that you can communicate with different Business units here at ISC, underwriting accounting and endorsement, you would select that you want to talk with an underwriter about this. You simply type in your message. It's gonna save it right here. And any correspondence from us would be saved here as well. So it saves within the app let's show you some completed ones. this is kind of the lifecycle of Your different, statuses with us. with this one we have some test ones of an approved quote. this is what it would look like if you completed your application a hundred percent. it would be in that quote, approved status. You have your total costs, what payment option was selected. again, the carrier info desired effective date. Any type of noting would be here. You drop and drag your documents once they sign it here, or you can use our e-sign. if you use our e-sign, which we, Use DocuSign for it would actually auto bind, once you hit this request bind option. that is a cool feature. If you want to get something done within literally 15 minutes, it qualifies for auto approval. You use the e-sign, option it once it's all completed, signed by your client and yourself on the agent spots automatically will upload into this section. Once you see the documents here, you would be able to hit request bind. And again, that would bind instantly. this is a quick quote, so if you wanted to send out a simple two page indication to your client, to give them. The limits, the pricing, endorsements. you'd be able to put that in here and send this off to your client. we can customize these documents with any of your agency logos. if you have any logos that you currently use on your document, you would simply send that to us. We'd load it onto your file and all the documents coming from us would have your, agency logo information as well. your app packet. Is right here. This is all you need to sign your client up with us. this app packet has everything we need to proceed with the binding or issuance of the policy. it has all those application questions that you answer through the edit app, and then it will generate into your application sections of initials. Another little section of initials signature from you on that one. Your TRIA form surplus line documents. we handle all the surplus lines filing, so you don't need to worry about any of that. Can you switch from a standard prob into advantage for payment? so y yes, there, there's options that we can do is cloning. so we have the capability as an underwriter on our side where we can take the information that you put in standard. Move it into either our Plus or Advantage. so yeah, we can help out and you can simply, put a note in here, can you, make an advantage quote for this client. we'll get that note and do that for you. I'll open up this advantage for you real quick. There are gonna be additional questions in this one, so it's not going to completely. Finish your quote. If you did a standard, there will be additional questions within your advantage. but this would be your advantage quote. So the quick quote, similar, but they are a little bit different layout. as you'll see the endorsement, it's no, all la cart, you need to add that notice of, third party cancellation. here's some of the additional questions that you're gonna have to answer for our advantage. one little thing I wanted to show you on the advantage is if you have new adventure, which we do take an advantage, you just simply indicated, oops, sorry, I did the wrong one. So we'll do five. But if you put zero in years in business. It is going to give you all the class codes we would take as a new venture. So anything listed here. We would accept as a new venture. the scroll bar is shorter. advantage has the least amount of class codes if you change that to three, which we require three years in business with continuous coverage for a higher risk, class codes, you can get an indication of what we would take with an established business of three years or more. you get your GC class codes and roofing class codes, and a few additional ones the way to do that, simply put a zero there. You'll indicate all the new ventures we can accept three years or more. You'll get the whole list of, class codes. this little thing I'm showing you here would actually work for our plus program too. So if you want to get an indication what plus accepts as a new venture versus an established company with three years of business or more, you can do that right there. now back to this, you can go back to your home button. the status is here. now I'll show you real quick on the, abound policy and how it looks. So if we have a quote that went through the approval, it got signed. It got issued, this is what it's gonna look like here. So again, your payment options now its status is bound. I'll give you your policy number right away. This one got bound through our TCIC carrier. once the policy is issued, you'll get your, policy document generated, instantly. It will save the app packet that you originally, sent to your client. If this was an actual one, you'd have documents here so that either the e-sign or your own personal upload drop and drag. So that would be all saved right here. you'd be able to open and close all those as well. And then payment. you can use the Epay if you want to use Epay. We have Epay, policy pay. you can use a CH. but yeah, this Epay is really easy to do online. Yeah, that's the flow of the OMJ system. Any other questions I'll put my email in the chat right now. If you want to set up, a one-on-one with me or anyone else on my team, you can email me. And we can do a deeper dive, with any questions you might have. Is there any other questions that anyone Between those standard vantage and plus. So, again, you can do this little compare contrast. the standard is gonna be our a la carte, where you're gonna be singling out the buybacks. the Plus is gonna basically include all those buybacks so you don't have to, worry about missing one or if something comes up through the policy term that the guy's doing that didn't inform you. The pluses I would say are mid-tier and then Advantage is gonna be your standard ISO coverage, with the class codes being the lease available in that. But it's basically manuscript manuscript iso, The step up from your standard is the plus. And then before, we wrap this up. We are doing a August promotion right now, for the whole month of August. It is for standard GL binds, but it's $50 extra per bind on top of your commission. You need to write at least two to qualify, so once you write two, you'd get an extra a hundred. And then $50 in addition to any extra binds that you write through the standard for the month of August. so if you're already writing with us and have one, if you get two, you qualify anything additional, you will actually get, another 50 bucks on top of that.
DianaAwesome. Thank you so much, Ryan. That was super informative and helpful. great demo and thank you everybody for your participation with all of your great questions. looks like we have one more question for you.
RyanOh yeah. Do you guys right in the. so the programs that we went over, it's only for, construction and contractors in that, industrial, if you're, if you're asking that, we very limited, in the industrial con, locations. but we, the one thing we don't like to do is public works or large scale industrial exposure. But yeah, we only rate contractors. So the, the pollution is not gonna be included on our sta on our GL programs. For all three plus advantage or standard. you can absolutely, quote our environmental, and the underwriter over there, Kent. would be able to help. Answer any of your questions, we do have an APLU pollution, policy available that you can do through that environmental quote, So the max that we can go up to is a 1, 2 2. if you need two, four limits, you would just have to add the excess to get, those higher limits and they go in a million dollar increments. Yeah, we do offer the per project endorsement on all three of our GL products, but if you're asking about a project specific where the GL is just for that specific location and project, we don't do that. We only write full year terms.
DianaAll right. Thank you, Ryan. If you have, any additional questions? Ryan is available, at janke@isga.com or you can email marketing at Marketing at, cmga.com and our customer service line is 7 6 0 5 9 9 7 2 4 2. and then to touch on the standard GL promo, it does apply to renewals as well. So it's any combination of two standard gls, two renewals or one of each. you'll get $50 from that, and it is running till the end of the month. we look forward to seeing your submissions and thank you for joining us today. have a great day.
RyanAwesome. Thank you all.
