How to Quote & Bind Construction Insurance Faster
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Most quoting platforms make you choose between fast and thorough. This one's a live, click-by-click look at how ISC does both.
In this episode, Ryan Janicki, AVP – Construction Division at ISC, walks through ISC's Construction Program platform end to end — from selecting between the Standard, Plus, and Advantage general liability programs (each with different class code and years-in-business requirements) to quoting Tools & Equipment (Inland Marine) and Builders Risk (up to $2 million TIV). She/He shows how a quote is built in real time: class codes, subcontractor costs, limits, self-insured retention, endorsements, and multi-state coverage, plus how excess gets layered onto an existing GL policy.
Also touched on: how apps move through underwriting (instant approval vs. manual review), the e-sign process through DocuSign, what a bound policy packet looks like, and how brokers can track every stage from quote to bind inside the platform.

I will, be going over, our OMJ platform, show you the different programs, and how to navigate through our OMJ system to get a quote and finish with an example of what it would look like, if you bind a policy through our program. Let me start by sharing my screen. Can everyone see? Yes. If you can just remember to mute yourself, here we go. this is our OMJ platform. this is how it would look for a broker, when they go into the OMJ system. we have our programs on the left hand side. the one that we, sell the most in, ISC is our general liability program. we do offer excess, for rgl It is supportive excess, so it wouldn't be going over any, non-supportive gl. next would be our Inland Marine, which is our tools and equipment. And then last would be our Builders Risk program. let's get started with a quick app for our, general liability. simply click over here for general liability. We have three different programs, standard Plus Advantage. there is a little. Cool feature here where you can get the comparison of the three different programs. the way I describe it is Standard is our a la carte program where you can add some, specific buybacks that we offer, and then Plus is gonna give you all the buybacks that we offer through our standard GL into our plus program. our newest one, would be our Advantage program, which is our ISO based program. available in all 50 states. to start a quote, simply click on one of the programs you would like to quote. you'll get to this, quick quote information page, which will lead into the full application. this section of the quote is all you would need to do to, get a quote started. simply keystroke some. Information here, and you will start to see a quote once we get to our class code section. here is your estimated gross receipts for your client. the sub costs, if they are using subcontractors. if they have employees, select the dropdown bracket of what they might be, paying their employee. Years in business. for the standard program, we take new ventures for all the class codes we have available through our carrier partners. with our Plus and Advantage, there are, requirements diff in that program that are different for standard, where higher risk, exposures such as general contractors or roofing contractors, require they have three years in business. I'll show you a little trick once I get past this, test quote, So you put your years in business here. This is how we do it here at ISC. We have our class codes listed. this is the laundry list of class codes we have available through our programs. you would select one of the programs or class codes. if you have a general contractor, doing residential remodel, this general contractor might touch a little bit of commercial as well. You can change this percentage. you'll get another option to add, additional class codes if needed if that was accurate, you would add that in. if you wanted to remove it, you would back that percentage out. the price is already available. It creates an app ID number, which you'll find at the top right. Then you select one of the programs by clicking on it and you'll get your check, on that program. here will be the limits. If you wanted to update your limits, from a 1 1 1 to a 1, 2, 1, you would select the limits that your client might need. If you need the additional class or limits to be adjusted, you would select that little plus button. next to Limits. increase your fire legal, which we go up to a hundred K in our standard. We do offer 300 K with our advantage. And then, for the med pay, our self-insured retention, you can select the ones that you might want, which is gonna change the pricing. if they did have any prior losses, within the last five years, you would indicate that here. And then estimated material costs is gonna be, the, materials they would need to, perform their work throughout the year. if they're working in California and Arizona, you would simply add in those additional states there. if you. Saw that indication and felt that was strong for your client, you would proceed with the arrest of the application. This is the endorsement section, where you can add different blanket ais this is the a la carte type of coverage I was talking about earlier. That they can add on, you can just simply click, any of these that they might be doing. if they are doing possibly multiple of these, and you wanna just make sure that they have it all, you would go to our plus program or Advantage. this is the full application You can select your payment options. If you do select one of these three financial options it would generate a PFA within your app packet, once you completed your app. it is a fast, simple, application process once you get to a hundred percent, send it to my team, either our automated system would handle it and give you instant approval, or it would come to my team if it fell outta that authority, and then we would review it on our underwriting team. let's go back into the test. And then, so from here, this is how it kind of look as a in progress type of quote or app id. You can go back into your. Application by clicking the edit button. if you wanted to add any additional programs you can do that within the one app Id you've created for your general liability simply by going to the bottom after you completed the app and adding any of those additional, programs you would be able to, respond to us, through this chat system. you can simply post a note here. It would, save all the communications between you and my team. that's a way we would respond back. You would see it generate here, which would also generate an email to you, directly. If you wanted to click on the tools and equipment, you would have that same start process. we do offer builders risk through our, program, which does have a TIV value of 2 million total that, we can handle through our Builders Risk program. If you needed to add access to an existing GL that you had already bound with us, you would simply click here, enter that app ID policy number or company name, and it would start that quote if you needed excess throughout the term, then we can go back to this home button. It would take you to that first initial page. These different statuses throughout our, process of working with us. if you completed one of these apps and went into an approval or request approval, it'd be found here. if you found that we did approve that risk and you got it, approved quote to present your client, you would find it in this. If you sent it off to bind, for us to process, it would be here. If you did have any issues with the binding process, missing a document signature date, you'd find it in your incomplete bind section. the last one that I wanted to go over is what it would look like once it is actually bound with us. If, you went forward with, the quote. And your client decided to bind with us. this is what it would look like on a bound policy. It would give you, your client's information up above. a breakdown of, the total cost who you are, and then the actual policy information. So it's gonna say your status is now bound the carrier that it was, placed with your total costs policy number. Term and this is where you would find your documents, which generate instantly once it is bound. you have your policy document to, generate your COI for your client and to provide the policy document to your client. This is what we call our app packet, it gives you all the checklists of what we're gonna need signed. It's going to give you all the documents you're gonna need to have signed by your client. we offer an e-sign feature through DocuSign to where you'd be able to, utilize our DocuSign feature. And then it would actually, Allow your client to sign it tracks it all through the system. once they get it signed, you'll get notified to sign your portions as an agent. And then once everything is signed, it would actually automatically upload into our system. When you're ready to bind, there's a request to bind button and you send it over to us. it gives everything that we need. Your tria, your surplus lines information. And your, commission report. to respect the time and to give you guys enough time to have some q and a, that is kind of a crash course on our system.
