Next, your authority in Christ includes the authority to ask God to command his angels to help build up his kingdom. Hebrews 1 14 says, Are not the angels ministering spirits sent out by God to serve those who will inherit salvation? Yes, they are. Psalm 91, 11 and 12 says, We go to God in faith rather than asking an angel to help. God is the divine authority over the angels. Angels can help us, but they're not to be worshipped. The key is you really don't ask the angels to do this or that. You ask God to ask the angels because He is the divine authority over everything, everyone, whether it's humans, whether it's angels. So we ask God to please send angels to uh ride with my son as he drives back from college, or please send angels to do this or that, to gather up donations for your 501c3 nonprofit from the east, from the north, south, east, and west. You see, we don't ask the angels to do that, we ask God to ask the angels to do that, and since their uh divine authority has asked, it'll get done properly. Oh, on the flip side, we have authority to ask God to get the demons out of there, but we also have the authority to ask God to get the dark angels to leave us. You can command the evil, the dark angels, the demons to leave us in Jesus' name. They have to leave if you simply order them to do so in the name of our Savior. Did you know other gifts a born-again believer can have? Like the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. It's important for us to do what we can every day. One of the things I learned as a child is I was a different religion, if you will, back when I was a child, and everything as far as my religion was compartmentalized on Sunday morning. I mean, you could live this life on this day, and you could live this on this day, and you could live a different life on Saturday night, and then you put on your best. Sunday go to meet and clothes and you act accordingly in church on Sunday. It's not a one hour a week event, okay? Living as a Christian is seven days a week, 24 hours a day. No matter where you go, you have the authority. Your authority in Christ is to be used appropriately to lead others to Christ. Even if you don't stop and have a conversation with them and ask them to repeat the sinner's prayer, for example, you need to lead them to Christ simply by the way you live. All right, your authority in Christ means the Bible should be your sole authority for faith and for practice. This is an interesting topic. The statement, the Bible is our only rule for faith and practice, appears in many doctrinal statements simply because God's word is truth with a capital T. In today's world, it kind of makes me laugh, and it also makes me disappointed whenever young people say, Well, that's your truth. I have my truth. You know, you have your no, there's there is one authority for truth. It's God Almighty, and He's clearly given us the regulations, the the way that we're supposed to operate in every situation, whether it's how you're supposed to treat your your um pastor, how you're supposed to treat the those in authority in elected government, how you're supposed to treat babies in the womb. It's all in there. The the ultimate truth is God and He's expressed His ultimate rules and laws in the Bible as truth. The reason I hesitated when I said rules and laws, a lot of people look at things like the Ten Commandments and say, Boy, that's really harsh. You know, just don't do this and don't do that. Well, the truth is, those are blessings, those aren't negative commands. I mean, won't your life be happier if you don't murder someone, if you don't kill someone? Won't your life be happier if you don't steal someone or if you don't commit adultery with your neighbor's wife? Your life is going to be a lot more blessed if you simply use the Ten Commandments and the other commandments of Jesus to live a better life as a Christian. That comes with authority too. All authority, all scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Where do we get the power to be a servant of God? From the Holy Spirit. Now we have our own legs and hands and arms, and we we are we're able to walk to that and go to there, but once we're in the spirit, we can do so much more by the power of the Holy Spirit within us that we can become his ambassadors, we can lay hands on people for healing. It's amazing what you can do once you're baptized in the Holy Spirit. And because God is sovereign, his word is absolute authority. Whatever God teaches or commands is sovereign. The scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the only organs through which in the present dispensation God conveys to us a knowledge of His will and what He wants us to do. Read the Bible, apply the Bible. How are we to use the gifts and talents that God has given each one of us unless we go to the place where it's clearly explained to us, the authority is clearly explained to us, the truth, the eternal truths are explained to us. I mean, Jesus even added another commandment, another commandment I give you, the eleventh commandment, if you will. Love God above all, love your neighbor as yourself. And a lot of people are able to repeat that, but a lot of people don't do that, do they? We need to follow God's commands and love one another, because with authority comes power. Authority. All right, a policeman in traffic. A policeman can stop his car. If the let's say that the traffic light is out at an intersection, he can simply stop his car, get out, direct traffic, you go this way, you go that way. We don't have the authority to do that. If we tried to do that, it would be chaos and silly. He has the authority to do that. That's how we use our authority as Christians and use it to the benefit of God and not necessarily to our own benefit. And the reason I say not necessarily, I've never done anything, anything for God where I wasn't blessed as well. I mean, I didn't primarily do it to promote myself or to receive a blessing. But when I bless God, he blesses me every time. I mean, it's just amazing.
