New 9-minute video: Spiritual growth is not a one-time event but a lifelong, daily journey of becoming more like Christ in our thoughts, actions, and attitudes. It requires humility, obedience, and a heart that seeks God above all else.

As James 4:6 reminds us, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’” True growth begins when we lay down our pride and allow God’s grace to shape us. Each day presents opportunities to draw nearer to Him—through prayer, studying His Word, and living out our faith in practical ways.

Spiritual growth, the continuous journey of deepening your connection to God. That's what we're about today. These practical habits that I'm about to give you can help you cultivate a more grounded, more peaceful, and intentional spiritual life as we grow spiritually together. You might want to write down a few of these so that you can use them in your own personal Bible study time. Daily prayer, that's the first one when you talk about spiritual growth. Dedicate a specific time each day, a specific place where you can get alone with God and communicate with your creator. Scripture study. Read the Bible every day, seeking wisdom, guidance, and daily inspiration. Take notes. That way you can chart your progress as you grow spiritually. Mindful meditation. Take about five to ten minutes every day. Kind of clear your mind and focus only on Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Gratitude journaling. This is important. Most of us as human beings focus on the problems of our life. In fact, some people obsess with the problems in their life, but gratitude journaling can help you write down, let's say, three to five things each day that you're thankful for, so you can shift your focus to the abundance of God. You're familiar with the old hymn, count your blessings, name them one by one. Don't focus on the problems. We're not given a spirit of fear, but a power of love and a sound mind. Don't fear your problems, focus on your gratitude and the things that God has given you, and count your blessings, name them one by one. Attend a faith community. Engage with a local church to connect with like-minded individuals who are born-again Christians. Engage in service to others, volunteer your time or resources to help those in need, practicing compassion and selflessness like Jesus did. Spend time in nature. It's important for us to get outside. One of the easiest ways to prove to a non-believer that there is a God is simply to explain the beauty of nature and let them observe it for themselves. We can observe God's creation to find peace, perspective, and a sense of connection to the creation and the creator simply by observing nature. Some key Bible verses about creation include Psalm 19.1. The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of his hands. That's Psalm 19. To enjoy spiritual growth, we need to practice forgiveness. Actively let go of past grievances and unresolved problems to free your spirit from heavy emotional burdens. There's no limit to what we're called to forgive. Not seventy times, seven times, it's over and over. We need to forgive people who have hurt us and pray for them. Jesus goes so far as to say that those who do not forgive others will not be forgiven by our Father in heaven. You want to look that up? Matthew 6, 14 and 15. Matthew 6, 14 and 15. Jesus goes so far to say that those who do not forgive others will not be forgiven by the Father. That one scares me. Hey, do a digital detox. Unplug from your devices regularly to eliminate distractions and make space for introspection, silence, and prayer. Find yourself a mentor, a spiritual guide, a pastor, or a trusted friend to help you navigate your journey and keep you accountable as you grow spiritually. Memorize Scripture, memorize Scripture Bible verses daily, talk to God daily and listen. And we'll be talking about embracing humility when we come back to God's Promises Podcast right after this.

Welcome back. Spiritual growth is our focus again today, and I promised you information about embracing humility. We'll find some Bible verses that will help it make sense to you and to me. Some of the most well-known Bible verses connecting humility to God's favor, and you might want to write down the Bible verses and study them later in your own personal Bible study time. James 4.6. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. That's James 4. Proverbs three thirty four. Toward the scorners God is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor. That's Proverbs three thirty four. Write down Psalm one forty seven six. The Lord lifts up the humble, but he casts the wicked to the ground. Isaiah 66 2. But this is the one whom I will look, he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. And finally, what does God require of us? Micah 6 8 requires people to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God. To continue your spiritual growth, take steps of faith. Step out of your comfort zone and trust that you will be guided through new experiences by the Holy Spirit. Share your journey. You might want to write a journal. You can talk with your friends about what you're learning and experiencing with others, allowing you to process your growth with other Christians, other people in the household of faith. Some practical ways that you can grow spiritually as a Christian to summarize, establish a daily scripture rhythm, pray in short, honest conversations, practice spiritual disciplines like silence and solitude, fasting, worship, scripture meditation, and journaling. Join a small group for a Bible study. Serve someone every week. Go out of your way to make sure that you're serving others, just as Jesus served others when he was here on earth. Practice confession and repentance and memorize a scripture verse every week. It's important for us to put the scripture verses into our hearts so that we can call on them when we need them.
