Worry has a sneaky way of creeping into our everyday lives, whether we're stressing paying the bills, caring for our families, or trying to figure out what tomorrow brings. But God never intended for us to carry the heavy weight of anxious thoughts on our own shoulders. In Philippians 4:6–7, we are reminded not to worry about anything, but instead to pray to God about everything, bringing our needs to Him with thankful hearts. When we do this, He promises a deep, quiet peace that goes beyond anything we can humanly understand—a peace that guards our hearts and minds like a protective shield. Even when we start to fear that we won't have enough time, energy, or money, Philippians 4:19 assures us that God will supply all our needs from His endless riches in Christ Jesus.

True biblical peace isn't just the absence of trouble or a calm feeling when everything is going right; it is a gift that stays with us even in the middle of life's storms. In John 14:1, Jesus speaks directly to our fears, telling us not to let our hearts be troubled, but to put our trust in Him. Later in that same chapter (John 14:27), He offers us His very own gift of peace — a lasting peace that the world simply cannot give and cannot take away. When the world around us feels chaotic or unpredictable, Jesus calls us to anchor our hearts in His presence rather than letting fear spin us out of control.

Living in this kind of peace is a choice we get to make every single day as we trust God with our lives. Colossians 3:15 encourages us to let the peace that comes from Christ rule in our hearts, acting like a referee that steps in to settle conflicts, calm our nervous thoughts, and replace anxiety with gratitude. Furthermore, as Isaiah 26:3 promises, God will keep in perfect, complete peace anyone who keeps their mind fixed on Him and continues to trust Him. When we get into the habit of taking our worries to God in prayer and resting in His promises, we can lie down at night without fear, knowing that the Almighty God is watching over us.

Don't worry. Welcome to a biblical reflection on the topics of worry and peace. In Christian theology, anxiety and worry are often rooted in forgetting that God loves us so much. He's sovereign. He's good. He wants the best for you. The scriptures offer not merely comfort, but a spiritual reorientation toward divine truth where worry has no place at all. Our first scripture on this video, 1 Peter 5.7, cast all your worries and cares on God, for he cares about you. Holding on to our stress and anxiety is really us saying, I can handle this better than God can. I'll just worry and figure it out. Handing our worries over to Him is a simple act of submission and choosing to trust Him as our Creator, Lord, and Savior. Our first scripture this time, 1 Peter 5 7, I suggest that you write down the scripture verses as we go through the next nine minutes together, and you can use the scripture verses in your own personal Bible study time. Second scripture, Philippians 4, 6 and 7. Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he's done. Then you'll experience the peace that passes understanding. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. When I say guard your hearts, I'm reminded that my wife has videos online about a hundred Sunday school lessons that you will really enjoy and be inspired by. Her name is Carmen V. Brady. Look for her videos on YouTube. Carmen V. Brady, Guard Your Heart Ministries International. Again, Philippians 4, 6 and 7. Don't worry about anything. Pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He's done. Then you'll experience God's peace, which gives you the peace that passes understanding. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Paul gives us a simple trade-off. We trade your worry for prayer and thankfulness. Real peace doesn't depend upon your life getting easier. It comes from having Jesus right there with you in the middle of it. Next scripture, Philippians 4.19. God supplies all our needs from his riches and glory in Christ Jesus. Remember, the answer to God's promises are always yes and amen. That's 2 Corinthians 1.20. And the reason I say that is that means that we can trust any promise that God has in Scripture for us, like Philippians 4.19. God supplies all our needs from his riches and glory in Christ Jesus. Even while writing in prison, Paul knew that worry comes from being afraid we won't have enough, whether it's money, energy, or peace of mind. He reminds us that our security doesn't come from what we have, but from God's endless supply through Christ Jesus. We selected two verses from John this time. Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. And John 14, 27. I'm leaving you with a gift, peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. Jesus tells us directly not to worry. Don't let our worries spin us out of control. The best fix for a troubled mind is simply putting our active faith in God. Jesus leaves us with his own deep lasting peace, a kind of quiet rest that the world can't offer you and the world can't take it away. Isaiah 26, 3 is the next verse. You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you. Isaiah 26, 3. When the Bible mentions perfect peace here, it uses a phrase that means complete, total, and unbroken calm for anyone who keeps their mind focused on God. In Hebrew, perfect peace is stated as shalom, shalom. Let's take a break. We'll have more on the topic of worry and peace on God's Promises podcast. We'll be back right after this.

Welcome back. Today our topic on God's promises is worry and peace. I'm Pastor Ed Brady. Colossians 3.15 is next, and let the peace that comes from Christ rule your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace and always be thankful. The word rule here works like a referee in a game. In our personal lives and in the life of our church community, Christ's peace will step in, settle arguments, kick out worry, fear, and division. Psalm 91, 1 and 2. Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety. He is my God, and I trust him. Psalm 91, 1 and 2. Now this Psalm paints a picture of resting under God's safe protection. Spending time in God's presence changes us from being constantly on edge to feeling truly secure, taking away panic and worry out of our lives. Proverbs 324, a good one for you to say when you're going to bed at night. You can go to bed without fear, you'll lie down and sleep soundly. Make that an I statement. Proverbs 3.24. I can go to bed without fear, I will lie down and sleep soundly. Anxiety usually shows up at night with racing thoughts and lost sleep. Going to sleep is an act of trust, admitting that God always stays awake and is in control while we rest. Psalm 4.8, in peace I will lie down and sleep. For you alone, O Lord will keep me safe. Another good one for bedtime. Psalm 4.8, in peace, I will lie down and sleep. For you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. King David wrote this during a time of great stress and betrayal, showing us what real trust looks like. Real safety doesn't come from human plans or strength, but directly from God. That peace lets us let go of our control every day. Jesus points out that worry is a sign that we've lost sight of what matters most and forgotten how much God loves us. He reminds us that worrying is completely useless. It can't even add five minutes to your life and points us back to God's love. When we focus on God's peace, our daily anxieties shrink down. Our last scripture, Joshua 1.9. This is my command. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Living free from fear isn't just a nice option. God explicitly commands us to be strong and brave. True courage isn't the absence of scary situations. It's believing that God is right there with you everywhere you go. With Almighty God on our side, we don't have any reason to worry. And we'll find the perfect peace in Jesus. Hey, thanks for watching. And if you'd like to donate to our ministry, we have a worldwide radio and video ministry, Brady Ministries International. Donations can be made on our website, ed BradyRadio.com, and are very much appreciated. Ed BradyRadio.com, thanks for watching, and thanks most of all for your prayers.
