And uh, but you know, anyway. Yeah, absolutely. And every like you said, every every uh kid that goes gets a uh player profile. A pro player profile. And I'm pretty sure I I think I saw where David said today that the uh the uh the the 365 Mississippi uh high school player rankings are gonna drop here, I think either tomorrow or someday this week. All right.

Can I talk about some recruiting? Uh uh Pete Golda's recruiting his you know what off I mean, the staff he put together, I knew they were gonna be like this. I mean, every blue chip high school player just about you see has Ole Miss listed as uh as one of their uh in the in the hunt. And that's a testament to Pete. And look, Frank Wilson, I still can't believe we kept Q1 Lacey and got Frank Wilson. I mean, I feel like that's like a such such an underrated thing.

Nobody talks about that, you know. Uh that was uh a win of a win, especially after that little snippet came out uh of the of the phone call from you know that got somehow got released.

And they were tweeting stuff a couple a couple days before, like some cryptic tweets, Frank, we got some Anna Lane, both of our I'm gonna tell you right now, I was I was worried till the 11th hour on that deal that he was gonna jump on the portal, you know, at the last second orchestrated deal, you know. Yeah, I think we stayed up that night until midnight just to make sure it didn't happen. Ain't no thinking too. I know I did.

The spring ball's just around the corner, and well, we're gonna be there. Absolutely, absolutely. I watched, just to start off with that, um, you know, there's uh if you look at number 17, uh the the they call the island green uh at Ponta Vedra Beach. It's not really an island. I got my PGA tour on. Uh it's not really an island, it's a peninsula. I mean it's in the very definition of the colour.

It's not like it's not landlocked but it's um but you for it's not an island. It's not alone.

There is an island with a tree on it. Yeah, the flowers and the flower bed and uh the flowers and the flower bed. And I watched uh a nice little golf Dodge piece today about uh about them having to change all those flowers out from Saturday to Sunday when it was Mother's Day when they they played on Mother's Day, and they had to like sometimes stay overnight with six or seven people to change out all those flowers uh on Mother's Day. I remember watching the Flying. Yeah, that was there was a bunch of sand right there. It was a beautiful live oak tree. They didn't want to get rid of it. Uh so they decided to to make a you know a little peninsula out of it. And there was what they called the wedding cake, uh, where you had people watching and they had little steps that look like a cake up on up on the ground. They've since you know all done away with all that, and it's an it's an island now.

I remember watching the tournament as a little kid thinking, I want to see somebody hit the ball like on that on the flower bed. I mean, it didn't have to be a terrible shot, but I mean some one of us could do it. Yeah.

It's a great tournament. A nice tournament.

You know, it was here first for years and they moved it up, and they now they moved it back. Yeah, I kind of liked it in the other slot, a little further down in the in the see I kinda see I kind of like it here. Yeah. I don't know why. I just argue I well, I think it's more it makes it stand out more, it being this week, this this time of the year. Yeah.

I mean it's before, you know, before Augusta, which is gonna take the air out of a lot, you know, a lot of golf. There's a lot of folks that watch the Masters who don't even watch golf. You know, that's a Yeah, the Masters, yeah. It's a staple. But um Yeah, no, I'm I'm really pleased with uh how the Arnold Harmel uh Arnold Palmer uh turned out. Isk came back, Derek Berger just didn't have it in the tank, I guess.

I want a little money on that. I took uh Oskay on Sunday the mat that was the matchup, him and burger. But I thought I thought it was a loser the whole way, man.

He had he had something like 16 and a half strokes gained around the green. He actually was uh put on a clinic about chipping and wedging and putting the ball all day long. And we could talk about a little bit of controversy about that. Is is the new rule about anchoring your putter uh is that it can touch your shirt. Well, I don't know if y'all seen Ice Kate. Yeah, he's Ice Kate doesn't have much of a chest, so if you could argue that he's touching his shirt, and he probably isn't touching his, but there's a lot of speculation that he's been you know anchoring the putter.

Yeah, calling people are calling him cheaters and all that, this, that, and the other. Yeah. Which I mean he's not. I mean that's kind of a fine line there on that rule.

I don't know if this is a politically correct thing to say, but he's got a bird chest. That's what I was gonna say the same thing. He goes in, it doesn't go out. He's uh he's uh probably not in danger. Flatbelly. Yeah, he's probably not in danger of uh grounding that putter on his chest.

Um Scotty's getting the tiger treatment. Scotty's plus 370 to win the whole tournament. The next closest eyes to him is Rory, who's probably not even gonna play at 12 to 1. That is freaking crazy, man. I just wild. Um got Shoffley, he's plus 23 23 to 1. Uh Tommy and Ludvig, Edinburgh, and uh Morakower, they're all kind of in there with Xandon at 23, 25 to 1. But Tommy has never played that good here. His uh best finish, I think, was tied for 22nd. Uh Ludvik is tied for, I think, 10th one time and a missed cut one year.

As beautiful as his swing is, he just he baffles me sometimes about the balls that he hits and the decisions he makes. He he duffed one in the in the sand trap the other day that just looked very pedestrian.

And Morakawa, he's his he's he's never had bit had that good of a record around this course. I think he's his uh he's got one top ten, and the rest have not been, you know, yeah, yeah, not very good.

But uh interesting to see if this course uh is it set up more for uh a draw or is it just kind of a straight hitter's course?

I mean, it's uh peak dye design, I'm pretty sure. It's just it is it's a it's a tough, it's a bear. Um I kinda like a long shot. I kinda like Jason Day. He's been kind of playing, you know, pretty good golf. This course sets up for him. But I like Ecavaria, man. I kind of think Xander Shaffy's gonna play good. But I'm look, I'm picking Scotty. I just got a feeling that Scotty just kind of runs away in highs on this thing this weekend. I don't know why I think that. I mean, I know why I think that he's the best player in the world, but he won it in 23. He won it 23 and 24. And he got uh he uh like well he's like four-wonder for the weekend last night last year. I think he was like top 20 or something. But I just hard not to bet.

Also, they got a Pontak Country Club doing a players pool. Yeah. Uh I think it's$20. So get with uh Scotty Patterson of Pontap Country Club and get in the plot. I'm in, I know one team, I'm probably gonna do another one. That's how they do it. You pick six golfers, they they have like six different tiers. You pick five or six golfers and throw out the high score, and then you take the low four or five or whatever. It's pretty fun. It's fun. And it's like you said, it's like I said, it's 20 bucks. And the stay team for, like I said, some matchup bets uh in a couple days. So who do you who you I'm picking Scotty? Who are you picking? Oh man, I don't know. I mean, it's hard not to pick Scotty.

We're gonna start doing you back on two nights a week now since you know baseball and stuff's getting kicked up. So we took a small hiatus of just one show a week. One show a week, because I mean it's kind of we have to get away for a football is king, man. Like, you know, and then baseball is pretty good. There wasn't much to talk about the men's. But I want to talk about uh the rebel man and men's and women's golf as we can as we continue our wonderful wild world of golf segment. Um by the way, we're uh the beautiful Wilder Fitness Equipment Showroom studio.

Um The Old Miss Men, number, I think number 13th this week in the rankings. This is our fifth or sixth top uh five finish of the year so far. We we uh tied for fourth and down the down in Cabo with an eight under weekend score. Beautiful place to play golf. Tom Fisher was uh top ten. He was uh, I think fifth or sixth uh in the individual. He was under par in all three rounds. Uh Colin Tollio and uh Cam Tankersley also played really, really well. And look, we got fourth in this tournament. This tournament had this tournament had number 11 Oklahoma State, number nine, Arkansas, number 13, Ole Miss, number 18 Tennessee, number 26, Arizona, number seven, Arizona State, number 20, Stanford, number 17, Georgia Tech, and number five, Vandy, who like Vandy played terrible in this tournament. They were probably the highest ranked team. They played bad. That's a freaking stacked field. And for us to get fourth in this tournament, that's why we we moved up the rankings two or three spots this week in the national rankings. I mean, and probably should have moved up higher than that. Played great competition and played well. And uh they're getting ready to go down to, or excuse me, go up, I don't know how Paw Pawmu Valley next with another stacked field. This is out in California somewhere, so I mean the places they get to go and travel to. They've been to Cabo, Puerto Rico.

Um the women, I'm not gonna talk too much about the women, they did not have a good weekend. Um they got 13th at the Darius Rooker invitational. There was a stacked uh stacked field, and there was there was only a few uh couple shots separating, you know, but Mary Miller of the of our lady, she played very well. Um for us, that's about it. That's about all on the women's. They'll bounce back. They uh long season, long season. Absolutely long season. Um that's about all I got to and look, we're gonna start uh having more coverage too of the Ole Miss Golf team. Yeah. Uh hopefully done by me and uh us, you know, for Ole Miss 365. Look, we we we have a nationally the men the men's golf program has been very good here for the past couple years, just getting better and better. We look we we have we have a chance to win the whole thing this year.

Absolutely. And so uh so that's the women's coach. I can't I can't even remember her name, but she came here from South Carolina and took over nothing. She's won a national championship. She's had like she's won like 20 tournaments in like five years since she's been here, which is a crap load. That's a lot. Um let's see. Let's talk a little baseball and softball.

Look, we're 15-2. You got the rooter kids hitting 425, Basetta who's just tearing the cover off the balls, hitting like 405, 406. And we're still coming together a little bit. You we had a little hiccup down in um down in Houston, but we we should have won that Baylor game. We should be sitting here 16-1 right now. But uh and look, we we were we were in the Coastal Carolina game. We just kind of let it get away from us there in the uh fifth inning.

Bianco left the pitcher in too long, believe it or not. Uh have you seen that story before? Imagine that. Um it may have been, I guess the the pitching coach may have left him in too long. Mangram. Now we got a new pitching coach. Thank goodness we finally got a look. That's what that's why I'm kind of bullish on this thing. I'm telling you, I'm telling you, Mike hiring this pitching coach is a big deal, and it's gonna really, really help us, I think. And look, I've heard Mike say in two or three interviews, he even admitted, like, I should have done this years ago. Um, you know, this is a close-knit team. I like this team. The rubber's finna meet the road this week because we got uh tomorrow night, we're playing at number six, Southern Myths, who has the best resume right now in the entire country. They should be number one, really. If they wasn't Southern Myths, they probably would be. We got them tomorrow night. I think I can't remember if this game is in Hattiesburg or uh Laurel. We played that little uh I think it's in Hattiesburg, though. At Southern Miss. We play them again in the year, too. We play them uh somewhere else. So I can't remember. One of them's at Hattiesburg, the other one's in Laurel. I think it's Laurel. Yeah. Um we play at number two, at number two, Texas this weekend for a weekend series. Those are our four games this week. At number six, Southern Mess, and at number, and then three, three uh on the road at uh Texas.

I believe that. Now they're hitting it's kind of like the middle of our lineup, like our five to eight, seven hitters. We've been striking out a good bit, but not quite as bad as we were last year. But I think we've got it in us to hit to not do that. I really do.

We've had really good timely hitting though with the rest of the lineup, which sometimes you've got to carry that middle part or the backside, or you know, even sometimes you know the front of the lineup gets a little kind of slump. But we've been doing good for timely hitting, and and Urmark's gonna catch the run record in the next you know six games.

I like I like I like this baseball team, I really do. But like I said, we're gonna we're gonna figure it out this weekend, this week. But also too stopped up all of a sudden. Also too. Fifteen and fifteen, five hundred and SEC play, I think gets you a host spot. Yeah. At least. You may not have to do that, but the road's a little easier for sure. See, we we we we went four and oh last week. We swept Evansville and beat North Alabama. Um 5-0 last week. Did we play uh Tuesday night too? We played Tuesday, Wednesday, and then yeah, we beat uh I can't remember who it was we beat Tuesday. We went to 5-0 last week. I know. Um But yeah, can't wait to watch that tomorrow. I think it's 6 o'clock tomorrow night against Southern Mess. That'll be uh Absolutely.

Yeah, they they're they're national. I think they were like 15th or something. They're ranked, yeah, they're a good team, but just kind of this team, we we had a lot of team, a lot of players from the transfer report. We had, I think, uh, I know we added two or three to our lineup, and the the pit the transfer pitching is gonna be the key, but they were good this weekend. Our bats were just terrible. Now, Bama must have three ace pitchers. I don't know, but we've been tearing the cover off the ball, and then all of a sudden we don't do anything for the whole weekend.

I'm gonna tell you, watch out for them too. This is gonna be uh very interesting uh coming down the stretch here to see who wins that. I don't know if we had to handicap this thing. Uh I bet under last night in I think it was Mexico and Brazil, under 11 and a half. They had it by the third inning. But I'm serious. I was like, well, that's a loser. Never mind.

Had two good wins against nationally ranked Vandy, and they beat Auburn in the first game. Yeah. Kind of got handed to him by well didn't Texas win it. Yeah, Texas, Texas put a put up put Ole Miss out, and they ended up running away with it there at the end, but it was like a five, two, three, four, four, five-point game within the fourth quarter.

Like it was they couldn't miss. They were shooting threes at lights out, Texas was.

Um They got a good team. Uh gonna be seated high. Cody McMahon's like one of the final uh the wooden ward of the finalist. And what's the girl's name? I can't ever think of her name. She's the one that's been injured. Uh anyway, if we if we can get her back, and I think we're going to, hopefully. Yeah, he would have been popping off. Um I'm just ready to see where this team lands in the tournament. They were hoping to get a host spot. That's kind of the only thing. I don't think Yo's never hosted. She's been the two sweet sixteens, but we was really wanting to host. I'm not trying to make excuses, but Yo has some bad luck this year. The Lady Rebels have had some terrible luck, had to play like four games in how many, like a week during the ice storm. Then our second best player goes down right around that same time. It's just but I was glad that we got we got those two wins in uh Nashville to get some momentum back.

Well, no, that's not quite true. I mean we've got one we got we play um, I think it's Texas in the SEC tournament Wednesday night. Yeah. We're not West Moore, don't wait, man. We're still week. There's no there's no more basketball. Um Merciful End. We play Texas. Um I think it's Wednesday night, six or seven o'clock in the in the SEC tournament. Look, I love one of my one of my favorite sporting events of the year is the the SEC basketball tournament. I just love watching it for some reason. I always have. And I'm gonna tune in for us. I'm gonna ride this out to the bitter end, I guess.

He said he said vehemently twice that he stayed. And look, I kind of back when everybody was saying he was leaving, or was probably going. I didn't I never did bite because the before the two times that he said he was staying, he kind of went a week or two before that, like did all the shows, like all the O Miss podcasts, and was like, you know, like I'm not he didn't say I wasn't leaving. He was like, I think he was doing like I'm not leaving tour, like I'm not, I'm here.

Like Beard's got a top three SEC coaching salary. It's kind of like the same thing with Kiffin. Like, people people are acting like we're painting peanuts, you know. He's just had the our best season in the school history last year. Yeah. I mean he knows what he's doing, he's gonna get this fixed. And look, we shouldn't have to this sounds crazy, I know, because we we had a bad season, but we should have to go too portal heavy this year because we signed two like top 100 guys that uh we like red shirted pretty much. Yeah. Uh we've only I think we only had three seniors on the team. So, I mean, I know there's gonna be some moving parts that we're not aware of, you know, but they'll just take more than you think out of this. They think we're we're we're we're got a good chance to get this five-star out of high school that's gonna be like a game changer. So I think we're gonna be fine. Just the heavy portal years. We just are bad. We we we wasn't that my point, we we wasn't that far off this year, really. Yeah. We were very competitive. Like we lost a bunch of close games. We just didn't have, we were just missing something. I don't know what it was.
