Uh we pivoted from the showroom and said, let's do it, let's do an evening porch. The weather's nice, you know, a little cool, but having it having a good evening. So what are we gonna talk about tonight, Don?

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna talk about a few things, several things. We're gonna start out with uh baseball. Got a big series coming up, but first we're gonna talk about uh uh us beating Kentucky. Absolutely. Big series win. Kentucky's uh we had a few airs this weekend. We had kind of cleaned those up, but Kentucky's one of those teams they're a small ball team. They put a lot of pressure on our deep on anybody's defense.

SPEAKER_01

Good pitching, too.

SPEAKER_02

Good pitching. Now we had I think five airs on the weekend, which is not very good at all.

SPEAKER_01

No, but um I will say Brady Braden Randall has really cleaned it up at shortstop. Oh, yeah. And his battle came alive this weekend, too. Yep, he's looked good.

SPEAKER_02

So has uh uh Foley's kind of came alive. Austin Foley kind of came alive this weekend. And see, this is we got Passetta, Udemark, Rooter, and Furnace have all been hitting the ball very well, especially Passetta. My God, he's an animal. He's got 14, 12, 14 home runs.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's on fire.

SPEAKER_02

Um we just need uh two or three more bats to kind of come alive. I like this team. I really died because we we hadn't we're there's like four or five teams in the SEC that are four and two. There's four or five teams that are three and three. Yeah. Uh nobody on everybody has at least two losses. Yep. This SEC season is gonna be one for the books. I've been saying that it's gonna be crazy. 500 SEC play gets you a hose.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, absolutely. I think Federico's done a little bit better job at the plate. Now that you know that that missed. The first one was a diving catch that he missed. Yeah, I think the one you know back towards the track in left center was was unforgivable. Uh as well as the one in right fell that upset him as well. Really?

SPEAKER_02

I didn't say you should have, but we could have very easily swept this thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, you know, guys, Saturday too, Kentucky's pitcher was 4-0 coming there. He had like a 1-6 ERA or something. He was but I mean, we we actually hit the ball hard, but we didn't hit it timely hits, and we didn't we didn't hit the ball, you know, where they weren't. So he was that was a you know a 4-0 SEC pitcher that came in there and was was you know doing pretty well. He was dealing, you know. I I also think uh I say Saturday, Friday. I'll get the dates mixed up. Yeah, I get them mixed up when they do that Thursday start. But uh Friday, yeah. Pacella hitting that Grand Slam. We heard in the offseason Pacella was supposed to be the dude that they could depend on. Basetta was was more of a flyer. Yeah. Like, I hope he does good. Yeah. I don't know why he hadn't Pacella, he still, since the start of the season, he hadn't played consistently. They keep swapping. I mean, they they keep putting like Timothy, like that, sermons in, or or Golden. You're trying to start. I like Kenny Golden, man. That's I do like him. He's an athlete. Yeah, he's an athlete for sure.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, we're sitting, you know, what, 20 and 4 now, 20 and 5, something like that. I mean, we're good. I think that's a good thing. This team has not this team has not played up to his potential at all. And we're what 16th, 15th in the country this week.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, we we have two wins, and we have six ACC games. We've had two wins from behind. Yeah, where it's been they're a very resilient team so far. And that will that will take you a long way. And our pitching, our pitching is phenomenal. Yeah. If we can get Libert to you know calm down a little bit, he it it seems like it takes.

SPEAKER_02

I think he's I think Bianco's gonna give him one more chance. I think they're gonna put somebody else in the spot if he but he's he started off really well, too. I don't know if you're gonna be able to do that. I think he's gonna be okay. I think he's gonna be okay.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, what they would have to put Taylor Raven there, but he's our best reliever right now. Yeah. So I mean it'd be it's kind of uh damned if you do, damned if you don't. We might get Townsend back, you know, sooner than we than we thought. So I hope so.

SPEAKER_02

I hope so. Going to start doing a little something called Old Miss 365, player of the week. There we go. Yeah. And that's of course uh basetta this weekend. I mean is it Bassetta or Parsetta? I can't get it.

SPEAKER_01

Bassetta. There's a Tristan. There's a Tristan Bassetta, and then what is it, Daniel Passella? Passella, yeah. Bassetta's. Yeah. We got we've got a we've got an Italian mob in the outfield.

SPEAKER_02

Like I said, I like this team. This team should have been the super, shoulda, woulda, coulda, but very should have been the super regionals last year, and we would have been hosting. I think this team is better than that team. I think Don Decker, he he's gotten on base a good bit, but I think he's gonna get hot too. I really do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think he's he's a stick waiting to happen. And he he fights off balls, he hits balls the other direction. I mean, he does what he's supposed to. You may tell you what frustrates me. We have a six foot four, two hundred and fifty-pound first baseman that dribbles the day. I've never s I have never seen a guy that big hit it. And I mean, yeah, when he does hit it, I'm glad he, you know, he he uses all parts of the field. But so many times has he hit little weak little dribblers into double plays. I d I don't really get it. I mean, he's a good hitter. Yeah. His daddy, I guess, is still the all-time hits leader or whatever at the SEC.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you'd think he'd I hear your jacket.

SPEAKER_01

You rustle of your jacket.

SPEAKER_02

This is Don Kissinger's jacket. Also, too, Hunter Elliott, knock on wood, seems to have found his groove. He was kind of he's been dating back to last year. He's had like his B minus, C plus game. I think he's got his A plus game now, the last two or three starts.

SPEAKER_01

It's like anything else, like playing competitive golf or something. You gotta get back in there and get them, you know, the grind. Which I heard uh Mangrum say in the offseason how they were fiddling with his uh arm slot. So I don't know, that could have had a little bit to it. You know, you can work on it all season, but once you go against another team in live action, it's a little different. And maybe he's finally coming around and and getting the feel for it. Because like I said, like you said, Thursday, he looked like old hunter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Uh let's see, we got the state, Mississippi State Bulldog, the Bull Frog was coming in. The highest uh uh one of the top two or three highest um paid rosters in the country. And we're gonna we're gonna talk a little bit more about this uh on Thursday. But there's like seven or eight players in the Mississippi State lineup that bat like 350 plus. Oh, they're like stroking the baseball.

SPEAKER_01

You know what they say though? Good pitching is a shut out good bats.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I guess we'll find out. Find out how good our pitching is, yeah. What time was it? Uh Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I think, this weekend, right? Yeah, regular lineup.

SPEAKER_01

You just gotta get one. I mean, old most fans, if if if we go one and two this weekend, that's nice to end the world. It's a success.

SPEAKER_02

Honestly, if you don't get swept by teams not south not named South Carolina, Missouri. Or fire coach. You don't want you're not gonna be too mad. This SEC, I'm telling y'all, how many how many top 25 teams we have? I mean, it's like 12 or something.

SPEAKER_01

But dare I think we make up like 60% of the top 25. You know, you were talking about South Carolina Missouri sweeping. Dare I say that LSU might just really be bad? Yeah. They hadn't been playing. Like it is they're they're really talented too. No. Couldn't have too bad. It's different. Maybe they'll fire Jay Johnson and then Bianco ride off into the sunset.

SPEAKER_02

He's already had Bianco's not Bianco's not going anywhere.

SPEAKER_01

We'll save our we'll save our LSU slander for the next segment.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but yeah, big big weekend against State coming up this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

Big game. At home. Big game, big game. Oh, it's gonna be crazy, crazy. Perfect weekend's gonna be wild.

SPEAKER_02

Bluebird type days all weekend, weather's gonna be perfect. But yeah, I like this baseball team, it's long and short of it.

SPEAKER_01

It's uh I'm telling you what, it's so fun to watch in the season, but watch them run run somebody out there and they're throwing 97, and you know, and they throw about you know two innings, come out there right here, come out, somebody throwing 97. I mean, this it is absolutely effortlessly. Yeah, effortlessly. I was like, who in the world is this? That's like you know, uh who is this guy? I mean, that was like when when Bandy we'd play on a Tuesday in the SEC tournament, they'd have some freshman that hadn't pitched at all come out. Bandy's not very good this year. No, they're not. But he'd come in and throw 101 miles an hour, and you're like, what? Who is this? And he'd never pitch.

SPEAKER_02

Um I also want to touch uh, like I said, we're gonna talk more about baseball Thursday. We'll do a big preview, deep dive into the Mississippi State series.

SPEAKER_01

We may have a Mississippi State contributor.

SPEAKER_02

Might have a Mississippi State uh contributor. A homer. A homer.

SPEAKER_01

He is a homer. A homer contributor. What they call that a cross uh cross-up? Cross or cross-up? Crossfaded.

SPEAKER_02

Crossfaded. Um Coach O, the win women's basketball teams uh had a heartbreaking got robbed. Look, I this is the first year really out of meet that I've really watched like a lot of women's basketball. Yeah. And it seemed to me that Coach O and the ladies got hosed. Hosed on a few like games this year. Alabama comes to mind. Yeah. Uh there was, I can't remember, there's another game somewhere. And then uh this Minnesota game just hosed. I mean, I don't know if Coach O's got them mad or what, but they had some bad luck this year at the Ice Storm. I'm not I'm not trying to make excuses for them, but that was a rough stretch after that. She's built a consistent winner. She took people forget she took over a complete, absolute dumpster fight.

SPEAKER_01

People want to play for it. That's the best part. And she is one of the best ambassadors for the university that we got.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. Um I saw where she said her goal next year was to host, be a top four seed and host uh, you know, the first couple rounds that you're playing.

SPEAKER_01

She said she don't want to have to take the life out so early. Heard that.

SPEAKER_02

Um like I said, she's gonna uh uh Cody McMahon, she's gonna be gone. She's gonna have to retool some of stuff in the portal, but yeah. Um that's what she did these days. And she's um she had a couple of suitors coming after her too, Florida and a couple of others, and she's uh staying put, so that's good. Shot them down. But um, like I said, good year overall.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of a tough luck year, really. But got some national attention brought to the program. Had Stephen A. Smith down there, you know. She uh, like you said, good ambassador for Oxford, good ambassador for the university.

SPEAKER_02

Um women's softball. Not good. Not good. Gonna keep this kind of short and sweet. Yeah, um and oh.

SPEAKER_01

By the way, we just kind of found out we could use these things, so if we start putting some laughter out there and sort of joke hits, you know. There they are.

SPEAKER_02

0-9 SEC play out here tonight. Of course, they have played, we have played Texas and Oklahoma, two of the best teams in the country, the first uh two series, but my God, they've only scored, I think, 15 or 16 total rows.

SPEAKER_01

I don't care who they've played. You, I mean, I get it, lose. That's one thing. That's fine. But you're getting the absolute hell beat out of you week. A couple of games.

SPEAKER_02

A couple of games have been closed, but that's it. The other seven or eight have been ass kickings.

SPEAKER_01

Last night, I watched the whole game last night. It was awful. But after the game, uh, Oklahoma, they were 20, like 28 and 2. And they said out of their 30 games, 25 of them have been run rules. Wow. So I kind of get it, but at the same time, good God, Jamie, what's her name? Jamie Traxxon. Jamie Trax.

SPEAKER_02

And look, I'm giving her the benefit of the benefit of the doubt. They went to the uh College World Series last last year, the first time in program history. And you know, did pretty good. But I this year they had a lot of people back.

SPEAKER_01

Did they go to the conference?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, first time in school history last year.

SPEAKER_01

They didn't they didn't go with that. What was that girl that Caitlin? No, you I'm talking about the pitcher. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, they didn't go. Oh. Um that's pretty much all I got.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, better not left yeah, maybe, you know. We'll we'll try it again. Get it together. I'll say get it again. Long season. Long season, long, long season. Get it together. I think they're almost. That's all right. Chin up, ladies. Chin up.

SPEAKER_02

Um spring football. Spring football. I think it actually started today. It is starting today. The media don't have access. I think we're gonna be able to go, I think, next Tuesday. Yep. Yep. On next Tuesday. We'll be live from the management. We will be doing some kind of something there. So stay tuned for that. Um spring new beginnings here. Absolutely. You don't have to hear no more bullshit. There's Lane Kiffin leaving Todd. Total red.

SPEAKER_01

Um Except for when let's just let's just, you know, we're not gonna we're not gonna uh bury the lane there. Deuce McAllister uh got on Twitter and decided to take a picture with Lane Kiffin. Which is fine. Which is fine. That's a free collector, he can do whatever he wants to. His son was that junior dead. That's okay. But but the just different uh notation on the picture, absolutely unnecessary roughness. And uh Kewan Lacey is the best running back in uh Ulmist history.

SPEAKER_02

Treason, these collars don't run. These don't run.

SPEAKER_01

Lane Kippman's been trying to tell y'all that it's just dealing with it. Y'all won't listen. Your car dealerships went belly up. That's what he wants. He needs some money. Lane probably paid him to I guarantee that um God rest your soul. My stepmother's rolling over in her grave right now. Hell, I can name a I can name probably four running backs right now that that's better than Deuce. No, hold on. I'm gonna say this right here. Quinshawn Judkins was better than Deuce. No, he was not. No, he was not. No way. T1 Lacey is better than him stat-wise, he was. Hell, Dexter McCluster might be better than him.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. I'm mad at Deuce right now. Okay, I'm mad at him, but he's still an all-time great rabble. He was not better than he's not, what you call it, Judgins is not, was not a better running back than. Okay, look no further than NFL. Deuce has a come on, it's not it's a judge.

SPEAKER_01

Quinshan beat a woman and still got drafted in the second round.

SPEAKER_02

Deuce McAllister is the best running back of my lifetime in old man.

SPEAKER_01

Keywon Lacey. And Keywon can, he can. Keywand can. Deuce would not hold Q-1 or Quinshan's job.

SPEAKER_02

I might give you Keywon, uh, although I disagree, but he was not joking. He's not, he's not Deuce is a better running back than.

SPEAKER_01

He did get caught sometimes.

SPEAKER_02

Deuce did get hurt a lot. He did get hurt a lot. I don't want to say a lot, but he did he was banged up a lot.

SPEAKER_01

I'm so mad at him, I may put Jalen Walton ahead of him. Really? Absolutely. I'm mad at you. I'm mad at you, but I still love you. But what the hell are you thinking? I don't know. That would be dumb. That was a real dumb, man. He's got to read the room, dude. I'm sorry. I don't care if you've lived there for 25 years and you've, you know, cough at the Saints and all that stuff. He does cough at the Saints. He's kind of cough at the Saints.

SPEAKER_02

Back to spring practice. Um I got a few uh players to watch. Caleb Cunningham, of course. I think he uh he's gonna break out. I like the Josh. Um I got my eye on the Josh Dye kid from uh southern Utah, wherever it was, who had like 2,200 yards rushing and 30 touchdowns last year. Yep. Stamp machine. Uh uh You know who my impact is. McKeel's not Sean McKeel's not the other running back. I'm kind of looking at him, too. He's a big dude.

SPEAKER_01

I mean I'm looking at John Tay Cook.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I think I think, you know, he was a big recruit out of high school, got in a little trouble. His mama wanted him away from Texas. He didn't. You know, then he went to where did he go? Syracuse. No, he went somewhere right before that for like two days and got in trouble again. Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. And then he left. You know, a lot of players, you know, it takes him a few times, and like this is his last year, his last year. Michael Trigg. You know who the best guy I think the best man for that job is is Pete Golding. He's one of those person that look you in the eye, and if you don't, if you don't j-haw with him, you ain't playing anyway, so it don't matter. Like uh take it no further than I don't think he plays with any of that BS.

SPEAKER_02

I'm trying to look also too. Um we got two two two bona fide Heisman trophy contenders in Trinidad and Kiwan. I just we're not gonna have to we're not gonna have to ride Kiwan like we did last year. We're gonna be able to take some load off of him with these other running backs, thank God. And and the LSU running back, too, is also the Trinidad.

SPEAKER_01

I personally think that Trinidad's gonna have more a better Heisman campaign because of that reason. Is Lacey, they're gonna get Lacey his yards, he's gonna be his impact player, but as far as the stats go in limelight, the shine, you know, I think that's gonna be a um a lot of car break ins. Car break ins. Yeah, anyway, welcome to Madison. You know, you know, Keywon, it it's so nice, and I think it was a big part of why we made it so far last year. It's so nice to have a running back when it's third and three, third and two. You can give it to him. He's gonna get the yard. How many times did he get stopped in the backfield, spin out of it, and fight for that extra yard? Like I think that's a big thing, and I'm hoping, like you said, uh Sheki Mills Knight, big dude. Yeah. I really hope it works out. Me too.

SPEAKER_02

Um, also looking, I've heard rumblings that uh Caden Prescore's brother's been turning some heads in practice.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I've heard some rumblings. Well, we need somebody to you know take over position. Yeah, for sure. Um What about the defensive side of the mile? Hold on.

SPEAKER_02

I'm I'm I've got a I'm I'm calling it right now. Trent Ed Chambless wins the highs when bar and injury.

SPEAKER_01

Put some money on it?

SPEAKER_02

I might. What's the future on that? And look, he's like one of the top favorites. I was gonna say um would have been great last year. Pete Golden has been awesome so far since he took the job in a possible situation. Yep. The staff he's built full of recruiters. One two playoff games. He's he he um he uh the staff he's put together, he's also bringing back a lot of guys we grew up watching. Yeah. But even before those guys, even before Lanier Gothy, before Terrence Metcalf, and uh before uh Marcus Woodson, he had some hosses in there already that I was like my opinion, this is by far and away the best coaching style that OMF has ever had in football. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, the coaches that will surround themselves with good people, great people, you know, a lot of these head coaches, like Hugh Freeze is one of them.

SPEAKER_02

I'll tip my cat to Kiffin. He was good at doing that. Smart enough to surround himself.

SPEAKER_01

Hugh had to always be the smartest guy in the room.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So and that eventually led to his downfall. Yeah, with that. Which is how that worked out hard. 2012, 2013, he was elite. Yeah. But you've got to be able to snow, like, hey, yeah, I may run the ship, but I need people smarter than me. I need people that know ball. I don't need to call everything. Yeah. And I think that's what'll end up.

SPEAKER_02

And like you said, but back to Pete a little bit, the two playoff wins. Yep. And was had a third right there and just couldn't hold. In the grass. Our defense is gonna be, I'm looking at this another bow prediction. We're gonna have a top ten uh uh ranked defense in the country this year.

SPEAKER_00

That'll make my heart so.

SPEAKER_02

I'm telling you, Cam Franklin and Will Eccles are gonna get better and better. And people people for are forgetting how many hosses we got in the portal on defense the first couple of days.

SPEAKER_01

I'm I'm I'm looking for Jonathan Maldonado. The edge we got out of uh some small school. I can't remember.

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember. We got a couple guys from Auburn. Yes. I can't remember how old they were. They were highly recorded. The Bama guy. We got some, I'm I'm telling you, our defense is just gonna be awesome.

SPEAKER_01

You know who I'm looking forward to seeing. Radio Ray's podcast on Old Miss365.com. Raymond Collins has got him a podcast now. You gotta go check that out, Oldness 365.

SPEAKER_02

Different player every week. We don't know about the next the next week or two, I don't know, because spring practice, it may not be uh Yeah, his first episode had Jalen Braxton on there. It was good.

SPEAKER_01

Jalen Braxton, I mean that's a big guess. We got it back.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, that's a big guess. I'm telling you right now, I was kind of worried. I thought they might be nervous or whatever. They knocked it, they knocked it completely out of the game.

SPEAKER_01

He said, Man, that was a great podcast.

SPEAKER_02

It really was.

SPEAKER_01

And we know great podcasting, right? We yes, we do. Like and subscribe when you're like.

SPEAKER_02

Also, another thing, Trinidad peop people forget he didn't get here to like Middle of damn June last year. This is his first spring practice. That's gonna be big for him to get to go through spring practice.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta think during spring, Lane treated him like a red-headed stepchild. Yeah. You know, we heard reports now that Brax like, look, dude, coaches were saying like Trinidad was the better quarterback in spring. Yeah. But Lane went with his his guy.

SPEAKER_02

Also, kind of to kind of uh give Lane the benefit of the doubt. He Austin Simmons, he may have slow played that to make sure didn't want them to transfer. Yeah. Which I mean is kind of he slow played, he did he did it once before with uh Jackson Dart and uh what's the uh Luke Altmeyer. Yeah, yeah. It's a fake quarterback battle.

SPEAKER_01

You know, that that could be it, but also I think that it was just everyone thought it was Austin Simmons because nobody knew who Trinidad Channels was until he came into the game the first time. Nobody had nobody had really even talked about him, no one had knew, except for a few, you know, the casual fans had never heard of his name.

SPEAKER_02

Like I hadn't seen his name, but I didn't I watched Prack, you know, you know, you know, well, I remember say it's kind of like that that running back we got having crazy stats. I remember saying, I don't give a damn where he was playing at. Those stats that Trinidad had were were impressive. Yeah. I mean, you call it whatever you want.

SPEAKER_01

Which I know arm strength is one thing. You know, we heard Trinidad, you know, we were we heard he's just a running quarterback. He's a running quarterback. I mean, arm strength gets you so far, but when you throw it to the team with a different jersey, yeah, it don't matter how hard you throw in it. I mean, that was Austin. And let me say this, I think Austin will be great in Missouri. I think I he just he's just not really. Pretty quickly named the quarterback there. Yes, and I think if Austin would have played, he can make every throw. I do think if he had played the whole year, we lose some of those games. Because I mean Trinidad just he escaped the party. Yeah, I mean, like. Well, with the offensive line that he was having and the timing, his timing, I mean, and people have broken this down, that he gets the ball out quicker than anybody in football right now. You know, I think he he played well because of that, because of our offensive line woes sometimes. We weren't getting people blocked. He reminds me of Jeremiah Masoli a little bit, like a smaller version of it. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. He Masoli wouldn't wasn't very big either. He was thicker, a little thicker, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He was a little thicker.

SPEAKER_02

Speaking of Trinidad, screw the NCAA. Yeah. We don't hate them enough. What they're trying to do. Can't hate him enough. What they're trying to do to Trinidad, I mean, it really is sad. Like, me and Dave, I heard the case in Pittsburgh. Me and David Johnson was down there, a bunch of uh and a bunch of other people were down there. Like, anybody that would objectively listen to this case would rule in favor of Trinidad Chad. I swear, the biggest Mississippi State homer of all time, if you would if he would objectively listen to the listen to all the facts, you would grant, they would even grant him another year. I mean, that's crazy. Uh the NCAA uh football game was supposedly going to use him, EA sports is going to use him for the cover. And they walked away from the table because I'm not 110% sure he's going to be playing this. He's going to be playing, but he's soon for lost reverse.

SPEAKER_01

I forgot about Deuce Knight being here. I forgot about that. We got Deuce Knight. He's going to be here's the thing. I'm excited about that because I think that Deuce Knight is excited about learning quarterback behind him and saying, hey, I can sit here and get better and be the starting quarterback next year and learn from the best quarterback entire nation.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. I think Deuce is he like you said. He's smart. He's an intelligent kid. Him wanting to do that makes me very happy. Yeah, absolutely. Um DCAA, I've read some of their case that they're trying to appeal. And I don't think I don't think that I'm going to go out and say I don't think the Supreme Court's even going to end up hearing his case. Yeah. Because they supposedly said that Whitwell put like a the way he the way he wrote his opinion made it has made it very hard for them to come back and appeal it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And one of the- Yeah, imagine if he's still reading from my down.

SPEAKER_02

He's still there.

SPEAKER_01

I literally I drove home from Oxford, I was watching, I was like, all right, all right, all right. He's gonna he's gonna say it now. Well, I turned it off, and like literally two hours later, I come across ESP and I was like, filmed it.

SPEAKER_02

I was filming my phone. I was like, my God.

SPEAKER_01

His wrist got tired. But um no tripod, Don.

SPEAKER_02

Um, it really didn't. It was bad. It was sitting in the corner by the butt I think I done lost my damn note where I was at. Oh yeah, the NCAA, there one of their arguments is that Deuce Knight's not gonna be able to play this year. Have you seen that? That's one of their arguments. Oh, this is good. He could have gone anywhere and played this. He thought he was gonna be playing. No, you didn't.

SPEAKER_01

He didn't think that. No, there was no bad faith. We we told him, you know, if it was. We're very upfront with him.

SPEAKER_02

Screw you, MCAA, go to hell. That's terrible. I hope Tom A terrible look, they're not gonna win their appeal. And also, after the appeal's over with, I hope Tom Mars sues their ass into the damn sun for this loss, like you said, lost revenue. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Lost revenue. Um right to work state here, Mississippi. You'll think Pete Golden's gonna be suspended one game? No, I do. I don't. I don't think they will. I guess if they do, who cares? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, well, I think uh choose your game up for the game.

SPEAKER_01

If he does, I think 25 other coaches will be also suspended for one game.

SPEAKER_02

We've got we've got stuff too that we're that we're that we're gonna blow the lid off of, supposedly.

SPEAKER_01

I've got a prediction. There's a reason why nothing's happened. I've got a prediction. If Ole Miss does get, you know, Pete gets suspended or whatever, there's supposed to be a world like to where there's a lot of stuff going on. And there's one school in particular that's gonna be in the epicenter of it all. And you'll know yes, sir. Lane Kiffin and LSU is gonna be in the epicenter of everything.

SPEAKER_02

Supposedly we have we have well supposed we have proof of Clemson tampering too.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, well, we we have the proof of how they got Ferrelli from they tampered with him to get there. So everybody's tampering for God's sake. I mean, just Pete. Pete does whatever Pete. They've already discussed all this. There's been articles written, everyone basically just looks the other way because there's not really any rules. There's not, there's nobody. The fake and injury stuff. Yeah, they want to they want to scapegoat somebody. It was Jed Fish. He came out this week and they were talking about tampering, and he was like, Look, until we have a set of rules and a set like this is the punishment, this is for this, he's like, I'm not out in any school because everyone does it. It does nobody. Steve Spurger said the same thing and he hates all this. And I made this parallel before on this podcast the same time. It's the same thing as about the fake of the injuries. We're going, everybody's gonna push the limit so hard so somebody will do something about it. If nobody pushes a limit, then no one will do anything about it, and only a select few will will prosper from this system. So people are being egregious about it because they're like, hey, look what I can do and still get away with it. Same thing with the fake and injuries. We're just gonna push it and push it and push it until you do something about it.

SPEAKER_02

Um I like the tampering portal. I like um Daquan Wright's chance of being very good in the NFL. Absolutely. I don't know what I'm missing here. They got him like late round, maybe even a free agent. Like he was.

SPEAKER_01

What am I missing? He was hurt a bunch at all. It don't matter, though. Well it does to them when they're spending millions of dollars on a player. Does he match up well with like NFL linebackers and stuff?

SPEAKER_02

His speed, he's got so much speed, yes. He I mean, how many times did you see him literally running wide ass over?

SPEAKER_01

He had great hands, too. He did have great hands. I mean, he'll make somebody's roster. Yes, I mean he he'll he's gonna be a tenure vet. He'll make some money and make some.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, look at our receivers tied ends over the last seven to eight, ten years. I mean, you got Dawson Knights, Evan Ingram, Treadwell, AJ Brown, DK, Jonathan Mingo.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm probably leaving a couple out, but did y'all see that where uh Laquan Treadwell he's one of there's three people from that draft class, wide receivers that are still in the league. I thought he was the only one. I thought there's uh Tyreek Hill was in that with him and another one. But I just thought that that just I mean that that right there, like even when he talks, you he just looks like a genuine guy. I mean, it show it it shows like younger kids, like, hey, you may not be a star. It's okay. Yeah, like, you know, everyone has their position, everybody has their role on a team. Yeah, you can't be a star, like he said. You know, yes, when I got there, I wanted to score all the touchdowns, get all the yards. But he's like, you know, I realize my role and what I could do for this team. Now I'm making tackles on kickoff. Yeah. Or I'm on kickoff return. He was like, you know, I'm just any way I can do like that. That's that's a that just that's a good dude. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

By the way, go to Ole Miss 365 for every look. Ole Miss Sports have never been better. Spring practices get to go and all the stories you could read about every single sport. David Johnson, David writes out like, I swear to God, like 10 stories a day.

SPEAKER_01

And not to mention it's not they're all good. It's the only Ole Miss site with Chuck Norris. Yeah, on the front page. On the front page. Absolutely. Um, but no, you get all the sports that you don't normally get on some of these other sites. You get to hear about you know women's sports mainly, you know, he's he's a big advocate for women's sports. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh we're a big advocate for growing, you know, and look here, we've got um College World Series softball last year. Not going so good this year, but sweet 16 and a man's basketball last year. Sweet 16 and women's basketball. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um Hey, and if you hadn't, if you hadn't got out and went and seen Old Miss Softball's new stadium, we went by there today, it's freaking beautiful. Softball, if you've never watched it, it is a better product than college baseball. I love watching it so fast paced. Yes, and it is, you know, it goes by pretty quick, but their stadium is beautiful. You know, they're they may not be as good as y'all want to, but take your kids out there, let them enjoy it. Yeah, and it's cheap. It's cheap to get in.

SPEAKER_02

And back to the rebel sports. Football, football, football, spring football is here. It's here. Um we're spending a bunch of money. We're for a final four team. We've got we improved off of that team. Yeah. Now, we got a lot tougher schedule next year. It's gonna be tough to get back, but I think we'll we got a dang good shot of doing it unless we have a bunch of bad injuries or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, um, we we beat a lot of those teams last year, and a lot of those teams got beat by teams that we beat as well, too. And and it's so funny. Uh you go look at these preseason rankings, and you look at these teams, like Texas AM, uh, they played they played okay. They're playing okay. But there were a lot of times where Marcel Reed just just absolutely shit to bed. Like they didn't play better than us. Uh, I don't know. They're project to be better than us. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

And a couple one other thing, too. Uh preseason projections. Men's and women's golf are both ranked in the top 15 in the country. G they have a legitimate chance to win the uh national championship this year. Uh they got three or four matches each left before the um regionals and stuff start. So we're we're we're we're gonna be covering that in depth. Yep. Um writing articles, interviewing some people that's gonna happen. Oh yeah. Um got a uh going to interview hopefully uh one of the coaches here coming up pretty soon. Probably gonna try to set that up probably a week or so before uh nationals or whatever, but Malloy and um but me and the women's golf team, both coaches have built consistent winners, and I don't think uh especially the Aiken, the the the coach, uh Coach Aiken of the women, she is and a lot of good players have come through the program since they've been here.

SPEAKER_01

A lot, a ton of them. It's crazy seeing seeing names on tours and I'm like, oh my god, you don't know that guy the other person.

SPEAKER_02

Um365, folks. Yeah go check it out. You got anything else for tonight's podcast? Yes, I do. What you talking about? What else we got? Well, we know we have the wonderful wide world of goth. Oh yeah, we have we have segment. Well, Mondays holidays have been shorter, that's the reason why. Hold on, we're not gonna read through that tonight because the men and women, they didn't play, they don't play they don't play this week. They don't think they may start tomorrow or something. Their schedule is really weird, like they'll they'll play like on a Monday to like a Wednesday, then they won't play again until like that next Monday or Tuesday. I can't really figure it out how it all works. But suite 16 is upon us in NCAA basketball.

SPEAKER_01

It is, it is, it is.

SPEAKER_02

Pick a winner, Colin. I've already picked Deep to begin with, but I'm not feeling too confident with it because they injuries are kind of caught up to them. I've got mine.

SPEAKER_01

I know who I'm going with. Can I tell y'all how many games I've watched at this moment? Just saying. I don't know who's in the Suite 16. Up in the show you haven't. Arizona been building up. What's your pick? You picked Duke? I could care less.

SPEAKER_02

Arizona and Arkansas play. Michigan and Bama, Utah, uh, Tennessee and uh Iowa State, Texas, Purdue. And then where the hell's the rest of it at? You're missing half. That's on this side right here. I was like, no, other side of the page. Right there. I'm getting there. Duke and St. John. I picked St. John's and Arkansas to be like your surprise teams.

SPEAKER_01

I think Arkansas's gonna be Arizona.

SPEAKER_02

They might. Then you got Yukon and um Michigan State. That's gonna be a good one. Iowa, Nebraska, Midwest off. Yeah. Uh Houston, Illinois, kind of a contrast in the styles. Um by the way, Rick Patino is taking like five teams to the damn Elite Eight or whatever it is. I mean, cook your cap to him. Good ball coach. Um, I saw where the John Shire Dukes coach is like 39 years old, and Patino's like 76, and they're coaching against each other, like 40-something years.

SPEAKER_01

Um, what are you looking at? I'm trying to see who I'm gonna take. I'm gonna take Michigan to win it all. I think Michigan's the most complete team in the tournament. They are the most complete game, and I think they're pretty damn good. I'll go Michigan with you. All right.

SPEAKER_02

They're pretty they're they're they're they're they're probably the most solid team overall. I'm gonna tell you. Look, Florida got beat. Florida got a I I said it beforehand. Florida had a the toughest. I don't know if they didn't want to win it two years in a row or what. They gave Florida had like the toughest damn reason for a one set of every scene.

SPEAKER_01

It was crazy. I am a little worried about the Michigan-Alabama game. If Obama gets hot, they can beat anybody. Alabama, okay, so Michigan has size over Alabama. But if Alabama decides, hey, this is what we're gonna do, we're supposed to shoot 43 threes, and we're just gonna try to shoot over your length. They get hot and start making a bunch of threes, then I mean it can get a little hairy. But if they sure can. But if they don't make threes and stuff, I just I don't think it'll even be close.

SPEAKER_02

But this is it, the sweet six week the SEC ended up with four teams and uh in the sweet 16. That's more than I thought. Yeah. I was like kind of down the SEC, to be honest with you. They're a little better than I thought we were.

SPEAKER_01

We were a little better than I thought. Halfway through the year, I was I even asked Don, I said, are we are is SEC just bad? I said, yeah, we are. Which old miss was bad.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we were until the end. I knew uh Beard kept saying, you know, we got I like his team, I like his team.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, well, well, hell, what how do you like about it? But is that not just the most old men's thing with any sport? They're shit the whole year, and then they want to try to get hot at right at the end there. They just miss it by like one game.

SPEAKER_02

The portal's about to open up, I think, the week after. See, the one thing that killed us last, the portal, they it was all screwed up. The portal was open, and we were still playing the sweet 16.

SPEAKER_01

Just call it like it is. They moved it. Chris Beard screwed the pooch on the portal.

SPEAKER_02

I don't mean I just think it's kind of bad luck.

SPEAKER_01

I mean I just I just think this team had the players there.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, don't you think? I mean, we sometimes flashes.

SPEAKER_01

Like I said, we didn't have a dude. Yeah, I mean I've said it the whole time.

SPEAKER_02

But the the French the Frenchman didn't come on until at the end. He's he plus he did. I mean, he was He's back next year, right? Well, he's got another year if he wants to. They say it's he might not take it. He may go back to France and probably play pro, but I feel like going back with his damn tail tucked?

SPEAKER_01

What are we doing? I well, he's a Frenchman. I mean, my God, that's what they do. Well, they say I got a I got a French rifle, you know, dropped twice, never fired.

SPEAKER_02

That's what uh Al Bundy on Mary with Children, Al Bundy's one of his favorite sayings. He always says, You're shaking like a Frenchman in a thunderstorm, you know, just hiding under his desk with something.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, French Rev. I know you follow him on Twitter. Does he? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think he's really French, though. I think he just lives over there. That's cool. He's from the French quarter. Yeah. French quarter. But yeah, uh so who's coming back on the well, hold on. Let me tell you this. The the portal this year is open for one week and one week only. April 7th.

SPEAKER_01

The week after the final, the week after the championship game. We'll probably have to wait like like football now and they'll have to announce they're coming back. Because I don't know. You know what I mean? Like who I mean, the portal's not open yet. Who knows if our two top 100 recruits, hell, they didn't get to play.

SPEAKER_02

Somebody, uh, the Jordan kid supposedly is like really, really, really, really, really good. I mean, I mean We didn't want to, we didn't need him either.

SPEAKER_01

Basketball is other sports where you just put that person in. You had to. Just like just like that, what's his name? John Bowl or whatever. Hell, he's playing pretty good wherever he's at now.

SPEAKER_02

He didn't play, he's ever like five points a game. He looks good. The games I've watched him. Did you watch anybody?

SPEAKER_01

The games I've watched him, he looks good, but he We paid James Scott like three million dollars and he didn't work terrible shit.

SPEAKER_02

You know the reason with the bowl, right? Him and his like handler uncle told Beard that he was crazy that Bowl would be starting for most NBA teams. He was like wanting more a bunch of more money and shit.

SPEAKER_00

So that's why. Yeah, that makes a little sense.

SPEAKER_02

But now look, Beard used to hire a general manager. There's too many moving parts in this portal now. I don't think we're gonna have to I don't think we're I know this may sound crazy because our record was so bad. We we should have to get that many in the portal this year, I don't think. Because a lot of those kids we got last year had two, three years. I mean Travis Perry wasn't as I mean he he also came on, he he also came on at the end of the year very good. Yeah, finally. I mean we'll see if we can develop.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think we'll develop some. He's only a freshman too.

SPEAKER_02

People forget that Perry's only a red-shirt freshman.

SPEAKER_01

He's still three years, but they can develop. So we'll keep some of them up, some of them will go.

SPEAKER_02

I just think look, I trust Chris Beard, he's the top five coach in the country. His resume speaks for itself. I mean, he's won 18. We talked about before, 18 NCAA tournament games, been the multiple Final Fours. Well, I'll say this.

SPEAKER_01

If if Chris Beard don't get it figured out next year, you might as well lock that somewhere.

SPEAKER_02

Now I've been saying that too.

SPEAKER_01

And throw the key away.

SPEAKER_02

Because he can't win over there, nobody can. But look, one thing, look, this roster, don't kid yourself, man. It was a very, very, very expensive roster. Yeah. It was. We could have got us a couple more linebackers and damn. One thing too, Dia. Dia, we paid him, it'd make you sick if you knew how much money we paid him. We had North Carolina and a couple others were coming after him. If we had to do over again, I guarantee them t we beard would have done that.

SPEAKER_01

I just feel like he was more of a headache for Chris Beard. Like he's so frustrated watching him play. He's like, he don't try half the time, is what it looked like to me. And then he, I mean, then he'll just he'll do something really good and then he'll do the dumbest shit that you can do.

SPEAKER_02

I love basketball. You know, most Rebel fans, I've said this a hundred times, most Rebel fans are number two sports, baseball. Mine's basketball. I want to have a good basketball. We got a basketball-centric AD. People also forget about that too. So the basketball's gonna be fine. Chris Beer's gonna get I'm glad he's staying. Look, he could Beer could have done left for several jobs now. Yeah. He could have left for several good jobs when he hadn't. I think he likes it here. I think he's here for the long haul. I'm glad he's staying. So, but just gotta fingers crossed. Just gotta lock in. Lock in and get centered and get a general manager and help anybody hit the roster bill.

SPEAKER_01
