Alright, guys, we're back here with the Top Shelf Grumbling Podcast on a Monday night out here on the uh the Wilder Fitness traveling uh backport studio. Yeah. Uh got Belouffi back here with us tonight. Uh he had a prior engagement uh last week. So uh got the gang back together. We'll uh talk a little uh a few things tonight. Uh big news, uh I guess lately is uh Tiger Woods still can't seem to keep the uh the car. Hire a driver for God's sake. He said today that he's not hiring a driver due to privacy. I saw that um and somebody equated that to saying he wants to be able to call that Perkins waitress again.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01In his own time. He's back. He's back. He's back back.
SPEAKER_02Put your money on him.
SPEAKER_01All right. He might be playing at the Masters still.
SPEAKER_00He's gonna win it. Gonna talk a little bit of you know everything tonight.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna start off with Springball. Do a little spring ball. Springball just started for the Rebels.
SPEAKER_00Uh and I will be there tomorrow, by the way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the Don's gonna be there tomorrow, uh, bringing some. Maybe he'll go live from some platform tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00Might, might, uh if it's possible there on the side. We're only gonna get the view like 10, like literally 10, 15 minutes is what we're gonna get.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well I said I'd just go to work.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and that it'll give you a chance to see who's out there and what numbers are out there and figure out who's you know participating in the world.
SPEAKER_02You can see how we look on the hoof.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Um gotta worry about no more Islaine leaving talk or anything like that. No B no BS Twitter. We're all all ball now. I ain't gotta worry about no bullshit. This that and the other. I'm looking for I'm looking to my my players to watch are Caleb Cunningham, um Josh Dye, the running back we got from Southern Utah, who's got like had like three, two thousand yards rushing last year and like 28 touchdowns. Shifty dude. And look, I don't think um I don't think uh what's the damn running back our best running back? I don't think Lacey's gonna have to be as well worked as hard as he was last year. We got Mills Knight's gonna come on too, I think. Um I like I'm looking for Cam Franklin and Will Eccles also to take that next step up. Um I've also been hearing good things about Prescorn's little brother. So he's more athletic and bigger than he was. Michigan transfer. Yeah, transfer out of Michigan. Caden Prescorn's brother.
SPEAKER_02He looks just like his brother.
SPEAKER_00I'm calling I think Trinidad's gonna win the highsman bar and he him getting hurt. Yeah. I really do. Um Peak's been done such a damn good job so far. With with the player retention, more than anything, I mean, just that's what I was worried about. I was worried about I mean, just about every coach that left and took another job took a majority of their roster with us. That didn't happen at Old Miss, thanks to Walker Jones and Keith Carr. Well, Keith Carr, not as much as the athletic director, but Walker Jones mainly.
SPEAKER_01The success helped us helped us have a path to getting all that infrastructure done, but the you know, the intelligence from the the staff upstairs to say, hey, this guy's gonna leave at some point in time, we're gonna be ready to go when it happens, and having the foresight. And people could say, oh, that's a given, but it's really not. You know, there's a lot of folks that sit on their laurels with a guy, they think it's gonna be there for 20 years, and they don't do anything, and they don't. We were just kind of talking before, you know, this about having to adapt and uh and you know become just like uh our baseball team. We'll I just won't touch on it for just a second, but you know, Mississippi State's a light years ahead at the NAL program. They got a top you know five coach that came in there from a winning program and and refreshed everything and you can tell, you can tell by the thing. But you know, I our our our football team has I think is lockstep of when last year we just added more folks, and it's gonna be pretty much uh business as usual. I'm excited about the football side.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm excited to see Pete's mind. I'm excited to see our defense. Yeah you know when Lane was here we had a high flying offense. Yeah, it was defense. Pete had to make do with what little money he had left. I mean, for for the majority of Kiffin's time, he was spending what what did he spend for Spencer Sanders like$300,000?
SPEAKER_00Somebody kept saying he was like our highest paid player on the whole team. Yeah, I mean, and I don't understand I still don't understand that to this day.
SPEAKER_01And that's that is I think they just got leaked, and that was just kind of the thing. Yeah. Was to say he paid$300,000 for a backup.
SPEAKER_00I heard somebody say that he thought he was gonna come in and he wasn't so he wasn't sold on Jackson Dart. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He was trying to make sure he had all his bases. And I get that part of it, but he also understands the competition, and that's gonna drive somebody to either be better or not be better, and you better have a backup who's proven that they can be managed.
SPEAKER_00But he was banged up and stuff. That's why that's why Auburn and other schools backed off of him because he I can't remember what it was he had banged up at Oklahoma State. I thought he banged his shoulder up, I think.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it was. But you've got a serviceable quarterback, someone who's knowledgeable, who could help Jackson Dart with you know coverage reading and all that stuff, and push him at the same time, and your deal is hey, I'm gonna give you$300,000, push this kid, make him better. I mean I'm I'm excited about all that. I'd take that deal. It sounds good to me.
SPEAKER_00Our defense, yeah. I think it's gonna be gr great. People forget how many hosses Golden got in the portal the first couple of days.
SPEAKER_02The secondary, I was reading uh I forgot what I was reading something, I can't even remember what it was. But anyway, it was showing all the players that almost have on defense. And like he said, you forget.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you got the Joe Nell, what's it uh what I don't even know how to say is it from Georgia.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The safety. I mean, we have two really good cover corners in Braxton and Kite. But we added that one from from Auburn, we had a guy from Florida, the Sharif Denson or whatever, or not Sharif Shereefens. That's he works for all of them. Uh whatever it is. But I'm excited to see, you know, our defense. I love the the period of time when Hugh was here and we had those high flying defenses that would knock your lights out. You know, you get up, you know, 14 to 3, you're like in a second. And you're you you feel pretty good about it.
SPEAKER_01And I'm I feel like, you know, the we kind of talked before about you know, having a defensive-minded coach like worried about how he's gonna control the offense and the tempo and stuff, and it just couldn't be a better situation with the same tools basically around hopefully retooling the offensive line and getting it better and and finding a tight end and just reloading it, you know, at the skill positions is what it's looking like. I mean, and I hope that's I mean, Deuce Alexander made that catch. I know this is one throw and one practice, but that's the reason why that dude's got number one on his chest now. I mean, yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02And you you got um, you know, Caden Lee left. But at the same time, the we got what's his name? What's it? Javante Cook.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But we got another slot receiver. I can't think of who he was.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I think it's gonna be a step. Now, granted, Caden Lee threw the ball his way, he was gonna catch it.
SPEAKER_01Caden Lee is gonna be uh the guy at Missouri, though. That's the thing, is it they're they brought some other folks in too, but they brought him in to be, you know, that's the one.
SPEAKER_00I don't think he's that. I think he's a good uh complimentary piece.
SPEAKER_01Austin Simmons and him are are were a package deal, you know, basically. Um and and I I'm happy for him. I hope they're gonna be able to do that. Oh, yeah, I am definitely.
SPEAKER_02He will go down as one of my all-time favorite brothers, just a great kid. He was uh How about Simmons?
SPEAKER_00No. Well Simmons, I mean He has all that perfectly like, you know, getting bent, not benched, but losing his job. Yeah. He didn't get bent. He didn't play bad and get taken out. He got hurt and like a Tom Brady uh Drew Bledsoe type.
SPEAKER_02Caden Lee, he's he's just an all-time he's he's a good person. My day job, I was able to interact with him on a daily basis, got to see him stuff, and he was nothing but good, nothing but pleasant. And like I said, I wish the best for him at Missouri, you know, moving forward.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. Any more spring balls? Talk about more some some players, Mr.
SPEAKER_00Kind of talk about looking forward to Trinidad. Now people forget he didn't get here until June last year. He's this is his first spring practice. Get to go through with all these guys. I think it's gonna make it's gonna be good, it's gonna make everybody better. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um and these folks are worried about, oh, he's got a new coordinator. This day and age, the coordinator's going to the player and saying, I'm gonna you're you're gonna kill this. You're basically you've established especially established himself he did like you know last year. I'm just gonna I'm gonna tunt tweak and tweak, but we're gonna do what you're good at.
SPEAKER_02And we already know we got it on tape. At the end of the day, we have two of the top five players in college football, I truly believe. Yeah. What Trinidad and Keywon. Yeah. It can't be too hard. You know what I'm saying? Like he John David Baker.
SPEAKER_01We can make it too hard, but I don't think he's going to make it hard hard. I do not think he's going to make it hard at all. We're not going to reinvent the. Not this year for sure. This year is going to be it was working. Well, it's different too. But like you said, we've got an established quarterback. He's got a film of an entire year of players he's throwing with, he's playing with, and and I can say, hey, I can just go, you know, improve on this a little bit.
SPEAKER_00Well, look, Baker also, he's coached under a kid. He learned a lot of offense under a kid. It's going to be a lot very similar. Yeah. He has a little a few different little things he does.
SPEAKER_01When he gets a new quarterback and new receivers and all that, I'm sure he'll be able to do that. That's what I'm saying. Next year is different.
SPEAKER_02He's so much more fiery than uh what's his name was little Charlie Wise. Little puppet boy. Charlie Wise.
SPEAKER_00Uh senior or junior.
SPEAKER_02Either one. But uh junior, you know, he it seemed like at times he did whatever Lane told him to do. Yeah. And I think that's what he does. And now we have an independent mind. Independent thing. It's hard for a head coach.
SPEAKER_00This is his offense.
SPEAKER_02You know, he's the head coach of the offensive side of the ball. It is hard for a head coach to be able to control everything that goes on in a game.
SPEAKER_00And that's one thing that Kiffin was good about is um delegating all that stuff.
SPEAKER_02He was good about speaking of Kiffin, partly because he was kind of lazy, but I think he this works.
SPEAKER_01I think that's probably you know what? I I've worked for some people who were who were really lazy, but they were really good in putting people in spots. Yeah. And I, you know, it's kind of smart. It is kind of lazy as far as but you could also be the the other opposite, which we talked about. He freeze just thinks they can insert themselves into every situation and always be the answer. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Uh speaking of Lane Kennedy, y'all see what he said to the media?
SPEAKER_00I don't know if it was about having like good sex and all that. Did you see that? No, I didn't see that one.
SPEAKER_02I was talking about the one. Y'all see that? The one that he he he told the reporters and the fan base is like he deleted it. Yep. Yeah, well. He told the fan base and the media, whatever, he was like, Y'all gonna have to bear with me. We're gonna have to have to rebuild that. That works, that don't work anymore. And guess what? The success you had at Ole Miss, LSU thinks they're better than Ole Miss. Yeah, exactly. So what you did at Ole Miss ain't gonna cut it to the You're gonna have to one up. Your goodwill don't travel with that.
SPEAKER_00That's what I always thought he was gonna leave Ole Miss until he won like really, really big here, because I didn't think people would people somebody was gonna pay him more than what we were paying him with without him winning the SEC or national championship. And somebody finally did.
SPEAKER_01Well, and they always use the excuse of weird old miss, just the reason why you hadn't won the big game, the big this, because you just didn't have the the horses or whatever. Right. But when you did have the horses and you lost to Kentucky and you were distracted and some of that stuff happens, but he was maybe if you weren't texting your ex-girlfriend and stalking her the weekend, but whatever. Old news. Old news in hard new spring, new spring ball, new team. And I'm excited.
SPEAKER_02I th I th I really do feel like we're better positioned this year to make a run than we were last year.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. If if we have the depth piece of the case. On paper. On paper. On on the line. If we if we get better on the line, I think we'll we'll definitely go far for sure.
SPEAKER_00Um well, like I said, I'll be there tomorrow, have a lot more on Thursday's pod. Yeah. Although we're not going to get to see I've had a cup of coffee, not halfway drink, I guess, by the time we watch the You get to see them stretch and stuff.
SPEAKER_01There's a lot of folks that don't get to see them at all.
SPEAKER_02They're bigger, faster, stronger.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. Moving along, let's talk to let's talk a little bit uh the one the one the wonderful wide world of golf segment. Yes. Tiger Woods hire driver for FFS. Look, the secret the Secret Service banned him over a year ago from driving Trump's grandkids. I guess it's been a problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um I'm the biggest Tiger fan ever, but look, he he's had five, I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but he has had five back surgeries, multiple other surgeries, and he is just you know how famous people are, like they don't nobody will tell them no. Yeah. He he's done got on them painkillers and he can't get off of them as a long and short of it, and he's driving around.
unknownMm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00I mean lucky he didn't this last crash, all he did was turn it over like it was nothing really that big of a deal. That first one, he's lucky he didn't die then. Almost lost both his legs. Yeah. I mean he did, he lost a lot of he still he still ain't I mean he will never gonna recover from that. He did it again.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean Don't you think it's ironic that uh John Daly has no DUI against it?
SPEAKER_01No DUI has never maybe wrecked a car, but never had a DUI, I don't guess. No, not that we don't. I'm sure he's wrecked a car, I guarantee that's it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I've seen.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, like like the Don said, hire a driver.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Forget your driver. But he said he's not going to for privacy's sake. What old hire some old man that don't know where the hell he's at half the time anyway, and tell him if he says anything, you'll hire me, I won't say nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no. Somebody said it doesn't matter what kind of NDA you sign, though. Like, somebody's gonna be like, Tiger was doing this. Like, Tiger was snorting bills with that. He's doing something. Yeah. He's like, I want this to be a sanctuary here in this Land Rover.
SPEAKER_02Tiger top five in the Masters if he plays. Uh top five finish.
SPEAKER_01Negative. I don't think he makes the cut, but I love him.
SPEAKER_00I don't think he's gonna play. He's not gonna play.
SPEAKER_02He probably won't.
SPEAKER_01No. He definitely won't.
SPEAKER_00No, I think maybe down, you know, here in a year a couple of years, he's gonna play try to play some match with some British Open. He's already in for the senior open. He signed up or signed in for the U.S. Senior Open. I saw that. Yeah. Um He's gonna definitely try to play some more play some more golf as a senior, but the senior tour is tough right now. There's some good players on that damn thing.
SPEAKER_02I couldn't name three.
SPEAKER_00I mean, there's you got I mean, you got the say the the usual suspects. Like John Daley's been playing good. There's a whole crowd that's about that of those guys that are about to turn 50. Like tight that are tiger's age. Um I don't know how John Daly uh figured he ended up the other day, but he was like he he shot five only the first two days, like in the hunt, but yeah. I didn't hear anything else about it, so it must not have been good the last day. No.
SPEAKER_02But he had fun though.
SPEAKER_00See, one thing Tigers, I mean, that's gonna help him, the the pe the seniors are only uh it's only three day tournaments, it's not four. Yeah. Now the the majors may be four. I don't know. I can't remember.
SPEAKER_02I bet it's not, because then it wouldn't really make sense to have a senior tour, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Possibly. Um They're old and I'm telling you what I was I was proud of Cam Young uh breaking through and and winning the players. That was a that was a big time.
SPEAKER_00Also, shout out to Gary Woodland.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, shout out to Gary Woodland. What a story. Uh, you know, people are like, I saw somebody make some comments. He said, I'm gonna have to be the bad guy, and he's you know, and it's some live guy, and he's like, he only beat four four no-name people at the you know the.
SPEAKER_00I'm so sick of this live versus PGA shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I could care less. The guy won a golf tournament, and he he he was actually he was averaging 321 yards a drive. He was leading 321 yards a drive for the PGA tour this year. Absolutely just smoking the ball after having multiple uh chunks taken out of your brain is uh is pretty remarkable.
SPEAKER_00He's got PTSD and all kinds of things. He's saying people like coming up behind you like it freaks him out. He's got all kinds of other problems going on.
SPEAKER_01I read the story after they took the uh they took the cancer out and and he was there and he was like trying to recover and all that, and he said, Man, I just was holding on to my mattress and like didn't know what was going on, and come to find out there was another lesion on his brain that was pushing on like the anxiety like portion, and they went and took it out and like completely changed. Uh, but that was like in 2023, like two years after he'd had the cancer. Like it was uh it was you know a little bit afterwards, but you know, he didn't figure out what was going on. It's wild. But yeah, dude won the tournament that was and just ran away with it too. Didn't wasn't even really close.
SPEAKER_00No, it wasn't. We've been in my like five or six shots. Um kind of moving on here for a second. We got the the women's golf team have just been playing absolutely lousy out of the last few matches. I mean, there's no other way to put it. I think they were like 17 over or something the last time I checked. Um in the last tournament, like just not playing very good. Mary Miller has been playing a light south though all season long. She's got a chance to win the whole uh the whole thing as an individual.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00This is their uh the they're in the the ladies' regionals are coming up. And uh moving on kind of kind of to the men, they've got a few matches left for the regionals. They're actually playing up at the individual uh an individual tournament, uh Colonial Country Club this weekend. Historic Colonial Country Club in Memphis. Um Jack Nicholson won there, Gary Player's one there. Um The men, they still got a few, they got a they've been playing inconsistent their their A game is as good as anybody's now when they start like they're they're they're they usually play the good the first two days, and like the last two days they play like crap. But I don't know they still got a chance to make some noise in the originals, I think. And then um we got Augusta coming up, not this weekend but the next. Yeah. They got one more little warm-up time beforehand. Um by the way, Palm Pop Country Club is run having a master's poll. Yeah.$20. I can say this, I guess. They posted on Facebook, so$20.$20. It's like you pick like six, six golfers, you throw out the high, your uh the worst score, and take your top five. So we're gambling? It's a combination, communation of uh cumulative score for the whole weekend of your team. It's pretty fun to do. It's 20 bucks. You can you you can enter as many as you want to, uh I think. I know you can do two or three. Um but that's about all I got for the wonderful world of golf. Unless you got anything, y'all got anything else to say about uh tiger. No, that's about it. I love you, Tiger. Higher driver, for God's sake.
SPEAKER_01Get it together. Um you gotta talk about the elephant in the room. Our baseball team's not very good, and I'm gonna take a second real quick. Uh I'll I'm gonna put up some some uh video real quick of and maybe a picture or two of my time there Friday night. Uh some of the bright spots, the only bright spots of the weekend actually were, you know, were some of the videos that I took. So I'll take a second and watch this and then we'll we'll be right back.
SPEAKER_02Generation Farming Family Shop on Monday. Are y'all ready? All right, so here's the question: who is the only real one that takes four rides in a single game?
SPEAKER_00Is it a um our pitching has been good enough. I know we gave up like five, six runs, six runs, but considering they were not hitting the damn ball at all. It's bad. I think our pitching has been decent enough to I mean it's not I Bianco called the pitching out in his postgame. Yeah. And we're um we're um we we uh got a little lineup, uh a rotation to shake up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we did. We got Rabe on Friday, Elliott on Saturday, and I don't know how I like Rabe. He's been pretty good at a good cleanup, Didi, but starting a whole different thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01He looks good coming in Friday when I was there. I mean, he was throwing gas.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, no release coming in.
SPEAKER_01His release, the ball's like there when it comes out of his hand, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02But he he's a max effort pitcher. His every pitch is max effort. How long can he go?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know what I'm saying? Like it showed me he pitched 35 or 38 pitches on Fr Friday or Thursday. Did we play Thursday? No, it's Friday. Friday. Friday, and then he wasn't available again.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That just lets you know that he's a max effort guy and he can't.
SPEAKER_01Well, maybe he wasn't just he wasn't available. Yeah, he may have not been available for other reasons or something else.
SPEAKER_00And we just not he left Elliot in too long on Friday night. That's the game the kid. Wait, we gotta win that game. We hit a we hit a home run with the. We talked about that.
SPEAKER_01We talked about that on the pod before the game on Thursday. I said, if we can win like a 3-1 game or uh, you know, a 3-2 game or something like that on Friday night, we got a chance the weekend. But that when we were sitting there, you know, it was cold as shit Friday night. I ain't gonna lie. We're sitting out there and I had on a long sleeve shirt, but it was not enough, and people were all bundled up around me. And I kept we were in the diamond club, so I got to kept going inside and and uh grabbing something grabbing some coffee. I had two cups of coffee at seven o'clock at night, which is not something I do.
SPEAKER_00But uh, but no, it was uh we're just absolutely lousy with runners in scoring positions position.
SPEAKER_01We and when he didn't take him out, I was something out of out of my mouth. I said, Well, we left him in one one too many batters.
SPEAKER_00But at the same time, like You gotta hold that lead down the ninth inning. That was terrifying And now look how we did get a bad luck on that the bubble that ball hit the bag, but that's no freak out.
SPEAKER_01That's baseball. We almost left, and I said, God, you know what? We're and uh Folly had looked at a couple strike threes already that night and say when he hit that ball, it took 32 and a half minutes to get out. It was fighting against that wind and fighting against the wind, and I was like, that's it's gonna hit the wall, it's gonna hit the wall. He hammered it at his deal. There was there were two other balls that night early in the game that I thought were no doubters and were caught in left center field.
SPEAKER_02Well, look, see you're not gonna win many games when your best hitter in Basetta. This the last four games, he's 0 for 19.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what's going on.
SPEAKER_00You can't that that's that ri that really is just baseball, though. You can't really, you can't expect him to bail your how many times he bailed? You can't expect him to keep bailing your ass out, bailing your ass out, bailing your ass out.
SPEAKER_01We don't have a plan at the plate other than go up there and hit a home run. So go up there and hit it as far as you can.
SPEAKER_02Look at his last at-bat, the last out Saturday or Sunday. Look at his like he's it looked terrible. It was the worst at bat I've ever seen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like we're not saying, I'm not telling him to go out there and hit a home run every time, but we have to put the ball in play. It's like, look, take, for example, Don Decker. What did he do last year during the regional?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He got on base. That's it. No home runs, line drives, base hits. He comes to Ole Miss. He has more home runs than he has strikeouts last year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And now he can't hit the ball.
SPEAKER_00He was playing way less competition, but he hadn't been good in non-conference play either.
SPEAKER_01He's been scrappy and getting on base sometimes, and he's he's better, but you're right. I still think he's gonna come around.
SPEAKER_00And I hear here's a little looking on the bright side of things a little bit. I still think they have a chance to figure something out here. I mean, also you gotta realize we're not gonna play State and Texas are the probably the best two damn teams in the country right now. Let's just call it what it is. Um you can't get swept, though. That's what we talked about. Getting swept. If you get taken to our three from okay, you don't want to do that, but getting swept just pushes you so far behind the eight ball. Now we went for three and three in the SEC, now we're three and six. I mean, but um I think it was seven, was it seven different series this weekend? I think the teams got swept.
SPEAKER_02All but one.
SPEAKER_00That's crazy. Yeah. And it never like sweeps in SEC like very rarely happen. Yeah. You know, that many to happen in one weekend.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna say it, you go the baby's ugly, you gotta call the baby ugly. I tell I I I personally people defend this man, and he has done great things for Ole Miss. He really has. But at some point, it's time for the torch to be passed on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And 25 years at one place is a long time. Eventually, your voice is stale.
SPEAKER_00I'm pretty sure he's the longest tenured coach in any sport in the SEC.
SPEAKER_01I'm pretty sure it's uh and the problem is now is is it is an old miss, like an old miss is them, they're they can't fire him in the middle of the season. They're gonna have to put him off on the the iceberg like in that old movie with uh North to put the old people on the iceberg and push them out to sea. They're gonna have to do that in the office.
SPEAKER_02I mean, name the stadium they're gonna name the stadium after him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I mean the bare minimum, you gotta fire Clement at the end of the year to tell him why he'd give him one more year at the minimum. I just don't think he's he's not gonna retire. No, no, no.
SPEAKER_02He's not they're gonna have to fire him.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna, I mean, and I will say this every every single time, like Artina fire your ass, he either goes to Omaha or wizard all. Like there th those those two years, like he was fired. Yeah. Yeah. And he went to Omaha. So maybe he could pull something out of the hat, but it is a long season. I mean, it is it really is a long season, and I still I still think our pitching is good enough.
SPEAKER_01And also, too, Friday night, they talked about that place was it was right, it was loud, man.
SPEAKER_00It was not. It seemed loud on TV. It wasn't.
SPEAKER_02I heard. I heard a podcast I was listening to. It was quiet. It was quiet as they've ever been.
SPEAKER_01It was okay, but nobody was screaming and yelling. There was I looked down in the in the expensive people's seats down at the bottom. I'll say that while I was sitting in the diamond club. And and down at the bottom, and there was 50 seats, you know, right there behind home plate, where nobody's there screaming and you know, behind the pit, you know, whatever. Nobody.
SPEAKER_02Because we got old freaking gruels down there in the in that section. We don't have we don't have grills, gruels, gruels, grills, spells, bells.
SPEAKER_00Old Miss has a problem with that too. It's on basketball, too. Like our people down the front area.
SPEAKER_02They don't want you to stand up, and if you stand up, they they start they start griping at you, telling you sit down, bring back the rods the rod squad, t-shirts, rod bars, uh, if you can't see sand up on the back of them.
SPEAKER_01I'm here for that. I'm here for that. Not for God, not for God Barnes, but yeah, I mean, the the all the stuff was nice. The food, the you know, the the atmosphere was was nice, nice people, but there was all kind the guy behind me and his buddy were having this god-awful long-ass conversation behind me about absolutely nothing pertaining to this baseball game. And I thought, y'all can do this somewhere else. Go to the bar, have a drink together, you know. This dude sat down. He sat down for 30 minutes, and then that's all he did was talk, and then he got up and left. And so he stayed for 30 minutes to talk to somebody and get him, you know, my ear. I ain't complaining, like I said, but I mean, gosh, that's our our fan base is like that. We're not paying attention and uh, you know, we're not trying to get involved. I mean, indifferent. I mean, and that's part of mate, Mike's gotten stale. I mean, he just everybody kind of was like the right was on the wall before the game even started. Nobody said that, but you know, they're like, this is gonna be, you know, they're like, all right, we'll we lose.
SPEAKER_00Remember, I told you I didn't have the warming fuzzies about this year.
SPEAKER_02I just had to look the skip Burtman philosophy don't work in 2026.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And that's it, and and and we could, like you said, turn it around, but do you see a makeup uh anybody on this team have the leadership that we had in 22 whenever we started real bad and then we ended up getting hot?
SPEAKER_00Well, I listened to Brad Henderson today, too. I mean, he's Tim Elka, when he first got here, he wasn't very good.
SPEAKER_02He all of a sudden it's about five years to do anything.
SPEAKER_00All of a sudden he came on, you know. Elko did.
SPEAKER_02I mean Oh, we're gonna we we're gonna give Clement credit for that?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm just saying, I'm just saying maybe maybe one of these other guys is like the lightning might come off of them all of a sudden while I was like, I mean, we wanted Pacello was supposed to be that dude.
SPEAKER_02And he's not even he's not playable right now.
SPEAKER_01He's DH'ing every once in a while, but he can't do that. He hit the first pitch right to the first baseman and like right in his glove and I mean a good advice.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what's going on. I know Mike, I know Clement isn't going up there telling them, hey, I need you to swing for the fences. He probably ain't telling them that.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_02But whatever he is telling them just isn't like it ain't resonating with it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's more just not uh well, it's more what to do and how to do it, and I don't think we're getting enough how to do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we need more fire, like the Tennessee coach yelling at the Georgia fans.
SPEAKER_01I don't want any I don't want any one of Tennessee's coaches doing anything like that.
SPEAKER_02Did you see the video?
SPEAKER_01No, no, I hadn't even saying that. Sounds like a tiny votely wannabe.
SPEAKER_02The coach, the j after the game, the Georgia beat him, whatever. Yeah, he was getting on the bus and when some of the Georgia fans talking. Well, he just starts storing them, was like, M Effer, I'm here. I'm right here, come on, and started dog cussing the students and all like it was crazy. It was an assistant coach or something like that. No, they uh from what I read, it was whatever his the headcut. The headman He was down there just like, I'm right here, come on, come across the street. Like, yeah, I mean we don't need that, but something.
SPEAKER_00It was not gonna be Dan McDonald either. He's older than Mike is, he's like 60. I think that the expiration date is up on that, I believe.
SPEAKER_02What's the what's the Clemson coach's name? That's who has always been rumored to to take the job.
SPEAKER_00If I wouldn't be what's the what's the what's the what's the coach that went to uh that we had that went to East Carolina? He's that took East Carolina to Omaha like twice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I I think you've got to go outside the mic tree, I really do. Yeah. I don't know. I I would I'm a big fan of the damn Murray State coach.
SPEAKER_00Bring him in. I saw somebody said we could get him to mow our field too. So he'd like he was supposed to be mowed Murray State's baseball field. Yeah. There you go. Um But baseball who do we even have this weekend? Florida.
SPEAKER_02Starting Thursday. Oh no.
SPEAKER_00No, at Florida. But see, they've swept and been swept.
SPEAKER_02So they're three and three, so it depends on if if their coach takes us meds or not, what they're gonna do.
SPEAKER_01We'll see. And we got, like I said, new lineup, we'll see how that goes. Uh, you know, we'll see. I like it. But you know what is gonna be.
SPEAKER_02What what has what what there's a new bright spot on the radar, and that's the old miss softball team.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Old Miss Softball team. Look, we had we played the number one team, the number two team, and the number four team, our first three series. That was brutal. We got sway up the first two, looked terrible. We we could have won one of those. I can't I think it was against Oklahoma. We could have won like game two or something. Oh Oklahoma whipped our ass. There was one series. There was one game we lost by one run. I can't remember if it was a Texas, Oklahoma.
SPEAKER_02One game I watched, it was like 15-2, and I was like, good God.
SPEAKER_00We we got stoned every game, all six of those games, but one. We almost won them anyway. We took two out of three at number at number four, Tennessee, and should have won. Dang near swept them. We had a chance to sweep them Sunday, had a comeback. But maybe that's save their season. Maybe they get things turned back to, you know, still not hitting the ball very well. Our pitching's been good enough, but here lately the the last few games, but no mistaking ball game.
SPEAKER_02We can't hit nowhere. I mean Mike Clements coaching them too.
SPEAKER_01Probably so. Maybe so. I think it's Clements.
SPEAKER_02I've heard him call him Clements. I've heard him call him Cl Clement.
SPEAKER_01Clements. We need a Clements to hit him.
SPEAKER_00We got the uh transfer portal. It's not o I don't think it's officially open yet, but you got uh Kiev's all over announcing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Either April 4th or April 2nd is when it opens.
SPEAKER_00I think it's uh you know they changed it because it was it did open like right in the middle of the NCAA tournament.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which was the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
SPEAKER_01Does it surprise you? It makes the most sense in this world.
SPEAKER_02I mean that's a football can transfer from now until the end of the season.
SPEAKER_00I mean, anyway, that's only gonna be for one week only. I think it's after Monday night, the championship game. Yeah. Um already had a few announced. I'm not gonna lose any sleep on any over any player that gets in the portal off of this team. No. So now we weren't that bad this year. We weren't near as bad as our record was.
SPEAKER_01But we weren't a good team.
SPEAKER_00We weren't a good team, but I a couple of those guys I'm I've kind of hoped they come back, but some I don't So is this just a one week to get into the portal? I think it's one I think it's one week to closes. No, I think it closes. Yeah, it closes, but you've got to get in. Oh, is that what it is?
SPEAKER_02Okay, they can drag it on to where they're gonna.
SPEAKER_00No, I don't think it's a very long process.
SPEAKER_01I think it's only I know. I'm talking about they can just get into the portal and then they can take however long they want to do it.
SPEAKER_02So they put they take the I don't think I think they put a cap on that too. I don't think so. I don't think they would be able to. They just have to get into the portal. It's a week to get in, because that's what football like. There's some people that still ain't even signed with a school. Yeah, and then they will pick up the ball.
SPEAKER_00I just really believe this is good. I think Chris Beer's gonna get this thick. I saw he's been interviewing general managers to help him rock.
SPEAKER_02I think they hired one.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, they were interviewing, he had two or three he was gonna interview, and they're finished an ad. Somebody said they're finna add an assistant coach, and uh one of our assistants may be leaving. Is the Frenchie coming back? I hope so.
SPEAKER_02I think he has, but he has potential to be home.
SPEAKER_00He was came on the last that's why we started playing so good, really. Is he came on like the last couple weeks.
SPEAKER_01It took him 30 minutes to take the ball off the court.
SPEAKER_00Now he's dunking the ball and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was like, man, you gotta go. This is this league is about pressing.
SPEAKER_02Like it's this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I'm so happy that Malik D is gone.
SPEAKER_00I'm not unf not unpopular with me. I'm I've I firmly agree.
SPEAKER_02I think I don't want to call I don't want to say what I thought I was gonna say, but anyway, we paid him a lot, a lot of money. I don't think that he was very good for I don't I'm not gonna say he's a locker room problem, but just looking at it when when something didn't go his way on the court, yeah. He'd reach out and grab the guy, throw him to the ground. I mean, like and I felt like I felt like Beard had to put so much into that one player that it took away from others.
SPEAKER_01Possibly so when you got that much money invested, the the squeaky wheel gets the old.
SPEAKER_00I guarantee you he wishes like hell he would have let him. I think like North Carolina, somebody else was like wanting him.
SPEAKER_02Well he took over the SEC tournament last year, not this past one, but the year before, and then everyone we got I think we got sold Fool's gold.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what it was. Because he was with he no, he didn't he didn't come on till SEC play started last year. Like we didn't even know who the hell he was.
SPEAKER_01There were lots of times this year he'd turn around and he was so wide open he missed the ball. I mean, he's so athletic and big and huge, he'd turn around and he was like, oh my gosh, I I know what to do.
SPEAKER_02But and and when he, like you said, he's so athletic, but he's so big he looks unathletic. Yeah, it's just all over the place. He's wild.
SPEAKER_00He is kind of a wild player. Um final four, my detain, I've I had D, they had a choke job against Yikon up by like 25 points.
SPEAKER_02Me and Sarah Producer picked Michigan. We sure did. And we're still alive.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_02Um who did they play?
SPEAKER_00Michigan beat the hell out of Tennessee. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and it was I remember looking like it was like 81 to 40 something. I was like, I looked at it. I couldn't believe.
SPEAKER_01Like I paused it, I was like, no way. Michigan's physicality is wild. This absolutely I ain't never seen people back somebody down, turn around and just bank on anybody.
SPEAKER_00So we got Michigan and Arizona, Michigan and Arizona, Yukon, Illinois. Both sprayers are one and a half points. Michigan, Michigan's favorite by a point and a half, and uh Yukon's favorite by a point and a half.
SPEAKER_02I think the national championship's gonna be won between Michigan and Arizona.
SPEAKER_00I do too.
SPEAKER_02I think the winner of that game.
SPEAKER_00I feel like that's kind of a like popular take. Everybody's taking the same thing, but I was watching Arizona, and I think it's a it's been a pretty good tournament so far.
SPEAKER_01I and I said this last pod. I ain't really watched a lot of these games, but I watched Arizona the past couple games. They're tough. They remind me of the basketball players on Pleasantville. That just the ball just toot, toot, toot, toot, pass, pass, down.
SPEAKER_02And they've really not had like all season, they they've started out hot. Yeah. Like they hadn't really faded anything.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Which is, I mean, good fundamental fundamental basketball for sure. That's what I'm fundamental basketball. We are knocking down the pins tonight on the uh, yes we are.
SPEAKER_00Um by the way, go to Ole Miss 365, folks, if you want to get kept up to date. The uh I'm gonna be honest with the message board hadn't been very good at all, but all of a sudden it started picking up. I talked to uh David Johnson says, because people are pissed. Like he says, like, like uh the old miss losing the state, getting swept, I swear to god it brought them out. The damn thing was buzzing last night. You had to had to get your frustrations out. It's getting better and better. The message board's getting better and better, and the the stories and the writing is. Well, they ain't got nothing to picture about.
SPEAKER_02They ain't gonna come to the message board. But when everyone's pissed off and wanting to find each other, they'll come to the message board. Thanks for losing, Rebs.
SPEAKER_00By the way, the on-three now not not the local guys. The on-three, the national, right. I'm so s the national, like their Twitter and stuff. I'm so sick of seeing like their edits.
SPEAKER_01Like it had the when Trinidad got uh uh granted uh the I think I commented on Pete and Acos's uh picture. Uh Trinidad Chamberless will be the week one starter against Louisville. No shit. Yeah. That's that that's what you decided to write. But it said it had a they had a graphic. You look you look like a 12-year-old in a damn suit, by the way.
SPEAKER_00I swear, come come get us. They had a graphic that said I picked Trinidad under it, it said denied. Yeah. And they the like he uh got uh what wasn't gonna be playing. Yeah. But it was the it was the problem that was denied, the NCAA got denied. Nothing.
SPEAKER_02So basically, basically what what you're saying is on three is a bunch of clowns. Come to O365, come express your feelings, tell us what you think about them. Call us ugly.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. It don't matter what we're doing. Screw the NCAA, by the way. Eat that all the way to your ass. Y'all got beat again in court. Tom Mars is your daddy. Um dad is the quarterback of the old Miss Rebels. There's nothing a damn thing you can do about it. And all you LSU fans can suck it too. Look, I'll say this, I will say, I swear to God, every anybody who reads the case and like looks at the case objectively would agree that he deserves another year to play football. I don't give a shit if they agree or they don't. He's back. Eat his ass. Especially in this day and age, you got kids playing seven and eight years, and you're Where's TJ Finley? There's a new new board game. I had a I had a Miami fan.
SPEAKER_01Where in the world is TJ Finley?
SPEAKER_00I had a Miami fan tweet me, tweet at me that said it was bullshit that he was getting to play again. Carson Beck had 52. I said, okay, first of all, your quarterback was Carson Beck last year. You had a they they had a seventh or eight-year senior on their team that beat us. Like, shut the hell up, dude. God, people are so They don't like to see old miss winning. They can't stand on.
SPEAKER_01Didn't they get Darien Minsa? Yeah, who also transferred like eight times.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, like I said, they the bottom line is the national media does not like old miss winning. They don't want us to win. They still look at us as little old miss, and when we come through and whip their ass, they can't do nothing but bitch.
SPEAKER_01And all these folks, uh all these folks are with us throwing stones in a glass house, like come on now.
SPEAKER_00And Saban and Urban Meyer going around and acting like there's some kind of damn like bastion of like integrity agonizing air. Like Urban Urban Meyer, if you heard him right now talking, you would think that he was a preacher somewhere now. Like he's like, this is what they have to do.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, didn't he give an oil check to some college chick?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was sicking the hell out of her oil. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Didn't he didn't he have a murderer on his team?
SPEAKER_01By the way, don't go look this up, but Kansas is down bad right now. Are they? Yeah. Kansas, what they do. Somebody's uh girlfriend at one of the local cafes there in the Kansas News.
SPEAKER_00Was what?
SPEAKER_01Being taken advantage of in the in one of the restroom stalls. I don't know. Not taken advantage of, but she was taking advantage of him.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah?
SPEAKER_01Some yeah, some Kansas student anyway. You gotta go look it up by yourself.
SPEAKER_02By the way, whatever I haven't seen nothing since it happened with that BYU wide receiver that got engaged to his girlfriend and then two days later he was booked for rape or something.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
SPEAKER_02I was I I I was kind of curious. I I hadn't looked back up on it.
SPEAKER_01The Mormon swept that one on the rug real fast.
SPEAKER_02Dude, those rough.
SPEAKER_01Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, um, yeah, on three sucks.
SPEAKER_01NCAA sucks.
SPEAKER_00NCAA sucks. Shred Baz our quarterback.
SPEAKER_02247 sucks. Yep.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, guys.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Oh no, they're mad at uh David right now on the sp on the one of the board. He needs to write the story about the about about the Babel guy.
SPEAKER_02Well good being on camera. 247 people?
SPEAKER_00No, there was Ben Garrett, and it was like, I guess some people don't have sources, blah blah blah, but you know. Yeah, yeah. Hurt. I'm not it. If somebody would have said that about Ben Garrett, he'd been in cry for six weeks. How can how dare you question my sources?
SPEAKER_02How can we say that we don't I'm going on a little tangent? Uh how can you say somebody doesn't have sources that's been in the business for a long time, still lives here, but the guy that reported it lives in Eff and Nashville.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He don't come here. How do you have sources that others do?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You don't. So nobody has any better sources than anybody else, but it's along and short. Everybody has people that tell them little bits of stuff. But Ole Miss 365 is coming, whether you like it or not. What's that? What's that uh Ed O'Gron thing? We're coming. Or something. What was it?
SPEAKER_02We ain't backing down, by God, or something. What's he gonna do, brother?
SPEAKER_00I seen where O'Giron was at Syracuse practice, like decked out, and I saw and I looked at the No, but his fingernails my fingernails are pretty long right now. I swear to God, Ed O's fingernails are longer than my He's doing Catholic Sino's signature move.
SPEAKER_02Looking in the eye pump. Eye gouge, whatever he is.
SPEAKER_00So Ed O is Syracuse's starting defensive lineman. Ed O must be partying like hell, because somebody would have done hired him for deep. He's not the best recruiter there, is just go recruit and don't do anything else when nobody's ever. I think he's a liability.
SPEAKER_02I think I really think he's a liability.
SPEAKER_00I heard you know what Paul Feinbaum said a while back? He said that uh if what he was hearing true was true that Ed is gonna be out of money in no time. Yeah. That like 20 million buyout,$20 million buyout he got. Absolutely. He is what it is.
SPEAKER_01Trundad's a quarterback. He is. Y'all got anything else for this evening?
SPEAKER_00No.
