He's a great guy and he's going to take care of you. Gonna be a nice show tonight. We're gonna start off here. We're gonna talk about our top quarterbacks uh of the SEC. Um coming out of spring ball, kind of seeing what we got going on. The quarterback rooms uh are starting to shape up. There's no spring portal anymore, so you're everybody is who's gonna be there is gonna be there. So that's a that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_02

Uh but let's uh you want to get in there and talk about what we're uh we're absolutely can I say I can't believe there was ever a such thing as a spring portal. That was like a disaster. Like, okay, I'm I'm stuck at the string, I'm out of here.

SPEAKER_00

I'm out of here, I'm leaving, yeah. And you know, there was also uh one coach said they wish they had it because they like to just play with the portal. But uh, you know, you plug somebody in there real late as well, too. But I don't know. It just it it's just living on a knife's edge, so I'm glad it's gone.

SPEAKER_02

But anyway, getting into our uh our list, who's your uh who's your top 10 SDC quarterback starting off number 11, uh Kamario Taylor.

SPEAKER_00

Top 10 starting off number 11.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and look the state fans, if there's any still that listen to this show, which there he is, I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Can look, like during football season and stuff, we're gonna talk more SC be more SEC centric on a lot of stuff. Like we're gonna talk about every big game of the week, and it's not gonna be just about the old mess.

SPEAKER_00

But um look, Camario Taylor We've got a very passionate state fan who would really like for us to expand upon our uh our topics. Number 11, Camario Taylor.

SPEAKER_02

Comario Taylor, great athlete, very talented, talented runner. Can throw a I've never like he can throw a good deep ball, but his like intermediate passing is leaves a lot to be desired.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And uh I think with with Mississippi State's uh O-line problems that they had, he was having to be an athlete every single time. You don't really get to learn, you know, passing plays and you know, and reads and and you know, progressions and stuff when you're just running around all the time trying to be an athlete. Exactly. I I think Auburn, uh I think we got Deuce Knight kind of in the same boat with that. He just, you know, he's gonna learn so much more uh in a in a better system.

SPEAKER_02

And I did see where Levy um Levy was talked pretty highly. I mean he talked last year after spring practice, he was like, God, pretty much I he knew his O-line was terrible. This year, after spring, you can see there's a lot more confidence there in his offensive line. So maybe for them it'll uh he'll uh like you said, he'll have to be running around for his life all the time. He's like no, he's always like he was looking to run, like I said, like sitting back there because he was, you know, used to having to run for his life.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, or everything was a sprinto, or you know, trying to get him in space and and make him, you know, use his talents. But I think like you said, he's gonna be a much more polished.

SPEAKER_02

And he only he only comp uh completed around 54% of his passes. That's not very good at all. Not in, I mean, but huge upside there and absolutely huge upside.

SPEAKER_00

Incredible athlete. Okay, moving along. Moving on, moving on. Who's number 10 out of the top 10? Throw you away, come on, Taylor.

SPEAKER_02

No. Number 10 is the uh is the Minchie kid from uh God, I forgot where he's from. I'm gonna have to look this up.

SPEAKER_00

We're in Kentucky? Yes, Kentucky. Oh my gosh. No, we're leaving that in.

SPEAKER_02

The Minchie kid.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the Minchie kid from Kentucky, who was spinning it, by the way. I've seen some videos.

SPEAKER_02

See, he almost I don't know why I went blank there for where like Kentucky team. I've also they're gonna be one of the surprise teams in the SEC that's coming. I like, I really like to hire the guy from Oregon. Yep. He uh I don't know what it is, I just have a feeling about them and him. Uh the Minchie kid almost he almost won he almost won the job from uh a Heisman, the Heisman, some someone call him the Heisman front runner that's going into the year. Uh CJ Carr, he was a gnat's ass for winning that job. So I mean, watch out of Kentucky, watch out for them.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I I saw some stuff about him, you know, spinning the ball. And also, too, you brought in an offensive coordinator to be your head coach. So you're gonna you're gonna they're looking for some fireworks in Kentucky. I mean, Mark Stoops is a great guy and everything. He's a defensive coach and and kind of just was trotting them along and they're gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

They wouldn't have been able to get the coach they got if he wasn't like from there. Yeah, he played, he actually played at Louisville, I think, but uh born and bred Kentucky. I did not know that. Yes. Um, but yes, watch up. I'm calling right now Kentucky this year, and that's number 10 quarterback. Yeah. Okay, number number nine. I I don't love it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

What a uh is this most can I just ask one question before we even say who it is? Is this the most disappointing electric player that could have been last year that just never played?

SPEAKER_02

I've never seen he's had a few good plays here and there, maybe a couple and I've argued with people about it. I just Lenore Sellers. I have to understand why. What the hype is. What's when I don't he's got he's an athletic quarterback. I mean, there's a million of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. He also was running for his life last year as well, too.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you got some people like, oh, Heisman, he could be a dark horse Heisman.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Um No receivers. He didn't have any receivers, he didn't have anything.

SPEAKER_02

Sale, sell, sell. Oh, this is a big year to sell South Carolina for uh uh Shane Baamer, who I think is probably a pretty good coach.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But he's finna get run out, I believe. Yeah. He's also gonna be one of those guys, he'll all get fired at South Carolina, and two, three years later he'll land at like I don't know. Clemson. Clem Virginia. Wouldn't that be some. Not Virginia Tech, where his dad's from like uh Virginia or somewhere like that.

SPEAKER_00

He's gonna land and watch and win. But he'd be a good mid-major coach. I mean, he's a he's a good recruiter and he's a a good guy, you know.

SPEAKER_02

He's one of those two. He's let he's a he let he lets his coaches coach. He don't you know, I think he's I think he's a good ball coach.

SPEAKER_00

One of those coaches he he lets coaches.

SPEAKER_02

You know, he's had some he's had some spotty. I mean, he won, what was it, two years ago, nine wins. Yeah. Because when they were the media darling at the end of the year.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, that's last year they were you know, because they almost made the playoffs. They got they got left out, you know.

SPEAKER_02

We we we beat them, beat the hell out of them at like 38 to 10 or something. They were trying to say they should be four to seven. They should have been ranked ahead of us or whatever. That was a most dominating 24-7 game.

SPEAKER_00

It was not a you know, a game at all.

SPEAKER_02

What's the what's the receiver's name? That Juice Wales that transferred to Ole Maz, he was going in for a touchdown and um fumbled the ball. He didn't uh speaking of disappointing, but anyway. We've all made it. I'm selling I'm selling sellers and South Carolina. And honestly, now looking back, I wish I had to put the Michi kid ahead of him, but anyway.

SPEAKER_00

You can adjust it. Hell, it's just it's just after spring. I mean, yeah, it could be a two weeks, you know, two weeks later, two weeks after spring, I've changed my mind.

SPEAKER_02

Um number eight, this is kind of a surprising pick, Austin Simmons.

SPEAKER_00

Um Okay, I thought he'd be higher on your list, to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_02

Well uh very talented. If he can learn how to play smart with the foot, can make every throw you can think of. Yeah. It's can is mobile enough, mobile more mobile than probably uh folks give him credit for.

SPEAKER_00

He's kind of kind of uh shy with it sometimes, but uh He reminds me of uh of a golfer with too many swing thoughts over the ball. Yeah. He uh he beautiful mechanics. Changes putters every other time he plays. Uh beautiful mechanics and you know, great, great swing and all that, but just uh more worried about the swing than where he's going with the ball. Uh sometimes. If he learns how to play smart with the ball, watch out. And he didn't have the elusivity that uh that Trinidad had, you know. But I think he's gonna be good. He's got Caden, uh Caden Lee that transferred out from Ole Miss to Missouri as well, too. A very good running back. He's the running back's name that's Amon Hardy. Yeah. Yeah, he's gonna be a good running back for him. They're gonna be a tough team if they have a good defensive, obviously. It's with every team you look at. If they have a good offensive, defensive line, they have a chance if they've got any kind of skill players.

SPEAKER_02

And Drake was too he can he he kind of gets a lot of hate for being a goober, but he's he's a pretty damn good coach, if you ask me. Let me look at his record. He's he's a great winning percentage goober. Absolutely. I mean Um But yeah, what uh I like Missouri and Simmons this year. Yeah. Um I kind of had to redo my list there because I kind of got off track. Uh seven. Uh Marcel Reed, AM. It was kind of a boom or bust. He is gonna be interesting to watch. Well, he He kind of got off time to a slow start, then he caught fire, then he like he was bad against SCC play, but uh in SEC play, but once he got going, like on I know it was non, some of it was non-con, but he was he's also young. I mean, he was one of the freshmen or sophomore last year. Yeah. He's gonna I think he's gonna take that next step. And I think Mike Elko is a great coach, and I think there's a reason why we recruited him so hard and wanted to beat all this.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Um I like to cut him as jib. Yeah. He makes some b uh some bonehead decisions sometimes. He kind of reminds me of Bo Wallace, like just on a streaky, streaky, you know, throws a bomb, you know, and scores in 30 seconds and turns around and just throws it. Terry Wolf intercepts somebody's breadbasket. Yeah, I don't know. It's and uh I literally have one game I think that's coming in my head right now. But I remember that game uh last year. It was probably the seventh or eighth game of the the season, and I thought this guy's about to light it up, and he just laid one, and I can't remember who they played against. Maybe Oklahoma or something like that. I can't remember, but yeah, it was it was not.

SPEAKER_02

There's a couple games. Well, I think it was flawed. They lost a game or almost lost a game they shouldn't have lost. Now they were down uh like thirty to nothing to South Carolina or something.

SPEAKER_00

They they were about to get drugged by by South Carolina and just absolutely he had to put him on his back like Superman.

SPEAKER_02

Um I like Mike Helko, though. I do too. I think uh I think he's a good coach. Sorry. Going to number six here, Sam Levitt. I think his name's Sam, right? It is. That's a little I thought his name was Liz Frank. Um Liz Frank injury. Um I've watched him play I've watched him play a good amount the past two years. He's a pretty good quarterback. Um he did throw for only 85 yards against one of the worst defenses Mississippi State's ever had. I don't still know how that happened. And and it went to overtime. Yeah. Um again, the state eventually won. Not worth near what they paid for him, I don't think.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I, you know, doing it, say, you know, Arizona State, they're like, oh, they were in the playoffs year before. It's like, well, they had a s I very much think that was a Cinderella team. And um no no harm, no foul to Arizona State, but as soon as Cam Scadigow left, it Sam Levitt looked very pedestrian most of the time. And every once in a while against some inferior opponents, he would make some very heroic looking plays, but I don't know. They're trying to sell that he just loves football and all this stuff. And I'm like, the kid don't look like he loves football. I'm not, you know, judging a book by its cover, but uh Go to hell LSU. Go to hell LSU. Anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, um five. Come at number five. Uh we got uh John Materi from Oklahoma. Was the Heisman front runner, or one of the Heisman front runner, probably what midway point, right around the midway point, and he was uh right there at the before the Heisman um he got hurt, but messed his throwing hand up his thumb or something on his hand.

SPEAKER_00

Where'd he come from? Oklahoma State or something like that? Or Oregon State or Don't get me.

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember. I forgot about that. I feel like the system he came from was very uh He came back he came back too soon from injury, I think. Because was it once after that injury? Now the last couple of games game, he started playing a little bit better, but he missed some throws against us that would have probably changed that game. He missed some throws, he made some good plays against us too, but he also uh um he also made they you know they they were up big on Alabama.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And they were, you know, he threw a uh one of the worst pick six, pick sixes you're ever gonna see. But I I I think he's gonna bounce back this year and have a good year. That's why I got him at five. Um and all these man, a lot of the this list, this is a tough list to really rank them because um you just don't know.

SPEAKER_00

There's a lot of newcomers. I mean, a lot of newcomers and people that came back that are in different situations. It's so crazy how much the college football landscape changes from year to year now. Like you just can't. You used to say something about the team from two years ago, and now when somebody's like when somebody says, Oh, we beat y'all the last five years, I'm like, I don't even know who those people are five years ago. I have zero clue who was on that team because everything changes so much. Uh there's no you know, four-year letterman and you know, speaking of another transfer, yeah, number four quarterback, Byron Brown. Byron Brown, once again, somebody who's flashed in the pan. Pretty I would say flashed. He's a USB. Big, tall, good runner, pretty good passer. He's kind of inconsistent. You remember when the heat when they were uh ragging him about his throwing motion? Yeah, it's kind of eight eight years from the throw football.

SPEAKER_02

He uh keeping him in trouble if it happens. He uh he's one of only eleven uh eleven quarterbacks in FBS history to throw for three thousand yards and run for a thousand the same season. Very talented, but this is gonna be the SEC. But uh He played good talent good teams. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm gonna get to.

SPEAKER_00

I think he played some good teams while he was there. But they also I watched them a few times where I thought they should have dominated or at least, you know, at least been competitive in the game.

SPEAKER_02

And whatnot in the somebody was him in the spring game. You can't go by a spring game. He looked god awful in the spring game, but Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

That that's a new a new thing over there. I don't know much about Alex Golish um other than the Well he had one he only had really one good year.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's what kind of Andy's Pennies have. He's a r he's a roosky. A rooskey? Yeah. Um but to me, pretty much what I'm about what I'm about to say is that I mean, it's the top three and everybody else.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

To me, I mean Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_00

There's a lot of a lot of parody in the top three, but the the f four through eleven are top ten.

SPEAKER_02

Or four through sixteen, really.

SPEAKER_00

All of them. I mean, to be honest with you, those, but yeah, there's the next three are on a different level than than the rest of them for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Number three, Gunnar Stockton, veteran, winner. Been there, done that. You know what you're gonna get out of him. He's good, he's tough. George's gonna be good again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I I do think he's got he had some growing to do last year as well, too, but he's got that the you know, whatever it is. He's got it, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. And then and then um kind of uh kind of weird to see what George is gonna do this year.

SPEAKER_00

He's kind of one of those all right, Kirby, you gonna Well Kirby's been kind of on uh you know he's been talking lately. He's been kind of like, oh man, he's like, I don't, you know, he always is uh you know selling his team shorts, saying, you know, we've got to we've got a battle and we've got to do this and this, but he candidly said, we used to be able to stockpile that talent.

SPEAKER_02

We used to have Pretty much is what he was saying, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We used that's what's changed is we used to have you know the first three, you know, people in that position could play anywhere in the country, no matter what. Those three people, and you it wasn't first and second team, first, second, and third shrink, and those folks waited in the line. They waited two or three years to go play at Georgia for two years to go make money in the NFL. And that was the mock.

SPEAKER_02

Somebody in the m mention like 2011, 2012, Alabama. You're never gonna see that time of that that amalgamation of talent anymore. Even when they quote unquote fix this a little bit, what they're gonna do, you still won't see that.

SPEAKER_00

And I hate to just catch astray, but that's why I don't give a shit about this whole LSU stuff in in Florida and names and and logos and all that stuff. Then why would you? Because now it does not matter. None of that stuff matters. Everybody's got facilities, everybody's got money. Not everybody's got money, but more people have money than what they used to have. Listen, Oxford, Mississippi, like, oh, it's a little sleepy town, it's nothing there. Go s go look at Oxford if you haven't been there in ten years. There's uh plenty of stuff for a college kid to do. There's plenty of stuff for the money. And real estate is more expensive there than it is that Florida now. They're paying the players enough where they can buy plane tickets and fly places, and they have better houses than you. So none of that matters anymore. I just want to throw that out there. Anyway. That's okay. Moving on. Moving on. Next to uh to some more nepotism, uh, Archie Manning.

SPEAKER_02

Uh Arch Manning. And look, I was I defended Arch a lot more last year than what most people did. Everybody was ragging on him because the preseason hype, nobody, first of all, nobody not literally literally nobody could have lived up to the hype. No. But um he was kind of to me, they piled on well pretty unfairly a lot of that a lot on a lot of that stuff. But um his O-line was terrible. Yeah. Um he kind of found it down the stretch. I mean, he was kind of the last like five, six games, even the ball game, he was gonna be.

SPEAKER_00

You could tell there's there's definitely talent there.

SPEAKER_02

I bet the offensive line won't be as bad. Like I think it was a Florida game I watched, and uh they were in his grill. This was like every game. They're in his grill from the damn from the jump. From the jump, every uh the whole damn game. They ended up losing that game to Florida, by the way, which is it was kind of a rainy in the swamp kind of a game, but number one uh Trinidad Chandler. You ever heard of him?

SPEAKER_00

I've definitely heard of Trinidad Chandler before.

SPEAKER_02

Look, I'm gonna I'm excited about Trinidad. Um people don't realize really he he didn't get to go through spring practice last year. No, he wasn't even on campus right now. Yeah, he didn't get to campus until sometime in June. Yeah. So um I think this team is gonna be better. Or just I think it's gonna be just as good, a more well-balanced, rounded offense, and uh I think defense is gonna be way better. No, the schedule's way tougher.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say the schedule's schedule is daunting for sure. But every time I look at our schedule, I think, oh god, I see another game that pops up that scares me. Do you know what I also think though as well too? I look at everybody else's schedule on the SEC and every one of them look pretty daunting. Like, there's not a whole lot of teams that are like, oh, they they've got a cakewalk and they've got a good team. There may be some folks that have a favorable schedule and don't have a good team, but there's nobody that has a cakewalk and an awesome team.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, by the way, you folks, uh head over to Almost 365. Check it out. The uh the uh writing is uh top-notch and the message board is coming along rather rather nicely. I noticed that uh this this week we've got a new crop of posters on there starting to come in.

SPEAKER_00

And go to almost365.com on uh YouTube as well, too. They got great podcasts that are dropped as well. Radio Rays. They had the big Meet the Rebels the other day.

SPEAKER_02

No, we changed we changed that. They said they said that was dirty.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

It was a red and blue barbecue.

SPEAKER_00

The red and blue barbecue. Well, M E A T, the Rebels, sounded pretty good to me. I did too.

SPEAKER_02

It sounded really good to meet. Pretty good little turnout on that, by the way. Had a few linebackers show up and did a podcast.

SPEAKER_00

What uh Keaton Thomas and uh and the new guy from Georgia Tech. His name escapes me real quick. But yeah, I can't think of his name either. Yeah, uh great, great showing over there. But yeah, no, uh, Trinidad Chambless is uh was by far the the best story, the best quarterback, um, especially coming down the stretch. Uh and he was a couple plays away from you know playing for a national championship. You know, just let's just be honest. But uh, you know, we can stay healthy. With all that being said, yeah, staying healthy uh and not letting the moment get too big and not letting all this time that's come between what's happened because like you said, he didn't get in there till June, and all of a sudden, boom, you're off. And then it's like a racehorse, you know, and he just you know his unlocked step every week, you know, and here was uh how can you take an off season? Can you get better? And I feel like he has.

SPEAKER_02

Like I I'm watching some of these highlights from practice and stuff like that, and he's still just they say this because it's kind of like became a perfectionist, but you don't want that to be like too you don't want to be playing too uptight or whatever, but Raymond Collins said he needs he needed to lay out the job.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was getting jacked. He was getting too jacked. It's like, can you be too jacked? But Barry Burnetti, that reminds me of Barry Burnetti. I sent I think I remember a long time ago I sent I sent a picture to one of our group messages with Barry Brunetti's arm and and just have his look vain veins going through his biceps while he's he's Throwing the ball, and I said, Gosh, who is this guy that we got? But blast from the past. But yeah, Trinidad's gonna be a heck of a quarterback next year.

SPEAKER_02

Hope we don't play like Barry Brunetti in that lad. Me either. Me either.

SPEAKER_00

And all due respect to Barry. Yeah, but he's he's got you know good wide receivers coming back. He's got a couple wide receivers that they brought in. Uh Darren Gill uh and Javante Cook are gonna just probably be really, really good weapons for him.

SPEAKER_02

Like the running back room, too. Um gonna be a good season. Like I said, if uh knock on wood, if yeah, if the injury bug don't bite us, um yes, look out for a good rebel team. We should be back right back in the playoffs again with the led by the number one quarterback on our list. Led by the number one quarterback on our list, Trinidad Chambliss.

SPEAKER_00

Trinidad Chambliss. Okay, let's uh moving on, uh next segment uh of the podcast tonight. Uh we're gonna talk about uh the rebel baseball team. Um, I'm glad we won Saturday. That was really nice. We let one go.

SPEAKER_02

It's such a razor thin margin. They said um we uh I think I saw this right today. If we would have won Sunday, that that cost us like three or four spots in the in the national seed.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, absolutely. It's it's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Um I've been saying all year 15 to 15 will get you in. Now there's now that people are kind of hem-hauling, well, you probably need to be 16 or 14. Uh who knows? Well who knows. I listened to Michael Borkin the other day on Super Talk. Shout out Michael Borke. Shout out Michael Borkin. He was big fans, brother. He was talking about uh when they're when they're all sitting in the room, they're not gonna put there's three SC there's three Mississippi teams on a ch at a chance to host. State's probably gonna be hosting, the Southern Miss is probably gonna be hosting. They're gonna look for a reason not to give it to a third Mississippi team. So you don't wanna it's gonna be 50-50 if we go 15 to 15, I feel like. That's true. Uh what are we right now, 500? Yeah, we're 500 right now. Well, we need to go, so we need to go.

SPEAKER_00

We need we ideally need to take two or three.

SPEAKER_02

We need to go four and four and two down the stretch.

SPEAKER_00

Four and two down the stretch. Two and two out of three this week, uh, this weekend would be.

SPEAKER_02

We didn't play anybody midweek this week, but now next next week in midweek. I don't know, somebody deserves to be fired. We were playing UT Martin uh midweek next week. He was uh three hundredth and three hundredth and something RPI. So uh no help, no, and really bad if it like I don't even know why we're playing it'd hurt us if we won, probably. I mean, we played that game they even played. Let's hope for a rain out, everybody. Seed the clouds. I think I heard somebody say that. Um by the way, a little more uh the the Atlanta Braves have the best record by like three games in Major League Baseball and already have like a nine and a half game lead in the division. I heard that. But I'd throw that in. Segway into Atlanta Braves baseball right from the back to the old mess, really. I I've been saying it all year. I like this team. We came off a tough series loss.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

With this pitching staff to me, we can win some games in the postseason.

SPEAKER_00

We had this weekend one. I mean, and there's there's some decisions uh you could question.

SPEAKER_02

Like Mike pitching hooks with a six-run lead on Saturday.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, uh, you know, and like I said, it did the 30 pitches that he he threw on Saturday matter that on Sunday it was not okay? Like, did that matter or did it be? Maybe maybe. You know?

SPEAKER_02

Do we need to know some people were clamoring for a staff shakeup too, talking about moving Elliot to Saturday or Sunday. I don't really know. I mean Elliot's been okay this year. He's had a couple hitter misses.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The last few outings hadn't been as short, but he hasn't been as short, but um I believe we got a visitor. We got a visitor coming in. Um he hadn't been as short the past few outings, but he what he he he gives up like a few runs the first couple innings and he settles in, don't give up anything else, like the lat till like the sixth inning.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. He doesn't look dominant like he used to, and I think that's what's what you know people struggle with sometimes is that it you're he just doesn't look dominant. And you're used to seeing him be dominant, you know, and I think that's really what stunned people off. It's like, hey, it's just hard. I mean it's is difficult. Uh and being an being an ace of a team and always carrying the water and always, you know, trying to be the ace is is not always you know, so we're in agreement, leave it like it is. I would leave I would leave it like it is. Uh maybe could maybe could swap it up.

SPEAKER_02

If it goes bad the rest of the way to the play to the regionals, you might swap it up then.

SPEAKER_00

The only reason I say leave it like it is is because I feel like our bullpen is deep enough to handle some bad outings. I mean, sometimes it is, but you can't leave them in long enough for it to affect the good bullpen you got. I mean, you know what I'm saying? Like if you if you left him in and go, alright, he's gonna come back after giving up three runs in the second inning and they come back, oh no, they give up two more, and now it's now it's five to nothing. And you're now you're getting to the bullpen. When if somebody gives up three runs in the second inning, you might need to go ahead and ahead and and tr make a change for I don't know, for and like I said, that's all I mean, it's all baseball talk, you can figure it out a hundred different ways. But my my philosophy would be, hey, I'm I'm especially with as much depth as I think that we do have. The only reason we don't see the depth is because uh Hudson Calhoun and and Lavon Hooks have been Lavon Hooks, oh my god. Lavon Hooks blast in the past. Uh not Lavon Hooks, I can't remember his first name anyway. But Hooks have uh I'll know anybody's hook. Here comes hooks. Here comes hooks, yeah. Lavon Hooks, that's hilarious. It really is.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe it's not even Levon.

SPEAKER_00

Shout out Lavon Hooks, uh former defensive tackle. I can't believe I called him Lavon Hooks. That's ridiculous. Anyway, all right, Rebels baseball. Uh, you know, we had a had a razor thin uh weekend in in Arkansas, like we talked about, but we're gonna have to get like what four and two, hopefully.

SPEAKER_02

And I like this team. Like I'm I really do, I just our pitching staff, our um, our freaking bats have really settled in. Other than Bassetta has kind of been in a slump, but I mean that's gonna everybody's like, why is he why why is he doing this? Why? It's a slump, he'll be fine, he'll come out of it. Uh, but you gotta I mean Furnace, Udemark, Federico, Paino, and hell, even Austin Foley has been uh hitting pretty good here lately.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, back from an injury too. He was he was gone in both games.

SPEAKER_02

We're at a we've got A and M at home this weekend, and then we go to Bama. We gotta take two out of three from both of them. Yeah. And not, like I said, not lose to UT Martin, 300 RPO.

SPEAKER_00

I watched the Friday Bama game. Uh I can't remember who they played last weekend, but it was on at work. And I bet there were 36 people at that at that baseball game for the game. You think? It was like 3 o'clock in the afternoon, give it to them. I'd say it was a weird time. Take off on a Friday to go watch a baseball game, but there was absolutely nobody. And Alabama's not bad. They're not I I looked, I was like, No, they're good. Are they like a terrible team there? Both of them are ranked. Whoever they were playing was was ranked as well, too. But anyway.

SPEAKER_02

It's kind of the first time Bama's been good in a while. Maybe that's what it is. Um they're not even used to it. But um need to go four and two. And I look, I'm calling it. I think they're going, I think they're going through. I think we're gonna end up finishing a season high. This team has bounced back all year long.

SPEAKER_00

What have we said? Every single episode, and we've talked about that as they've been resilient. They've they've come back from some games that they shouldn't have won.

SPEAKER_02

Uh games they should games they should have won too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. And lost and bounced back. Yeah, no, I I 100% agree with you for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Like the steak series.

SPEAKER_00

We all had on road off for dead. Yeah. Oh, I was I was there on Friday night, I guess, after the first game, and I was like, uh uh. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna watch another game. For a while at least.

SPEAKER_02

So uh I think we're Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this weekend. I think we are too. So um gotta have it. And well I think I think it's this game. I think we have a I don't know, is it's Mother's Day on Sunday, so is it? I think this game I think it's it's either this one's the next one. We have a like six o'clock Sunday game.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think it's this one. I'm telling you, Mother's Day's uh on Sunday, so that's probably the reason why it's it's late if it is. Maybe that's what it is. Um They should never do that about getting teams back.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody just play Thursday on this weekend. He could do that. I agree. Um, well, that's it.

SPEAKER_00

You got anything else for baseball? I think I'm good on that one. Yeah, Rebels, get together. We got this.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think we'll be okay.

SPEAKER_00

We'll be okay. I love how we're crumpling notes tonight. We're just like, I'm done with that. You know what we haven't done? We haven't shuffled any papers because we've been crumpling them and throwing them away. It's great. Let's go with the women's first here. Um This is the wonderful wide world of golf.

SPEAKER_02

The wonderful wide world of golf segment. We kind of talk uh PGA tour, oh miss golf.

SPEAKER_00

Just golf in general because we love golf.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Yeah. Local golf state. I was looking for a tournament this weekend. I kept looking, I was like, I've been so busy with work and shit. I hadn't had to play the past couple weeks and I'll be.

SPEAKER_00

Imagine somebody saying, you know, I'm sorry, we're not celebrating Mother's Day. I gotta shoot 1200. Okay, we got a lot of money on the Calcutta. Bring your kids to the Bring it, don't bring your kids to the to the championship flight. Um I don't think it was a championship flight.

SPEAKER_02

The um the 2026 women's uh amateur four ball is currently taking place. Um got uh Sophie Linder and Mary Miller from out of Ole Miss are both making some noise. They beat uh they won two matches today. One of the matches they knocked off the defending champions, and they're uh in the semifinals, which started, I think 6 30 in the morning. Gosh. Now there's a uh there's also another there's one first light, I should say. Literally, well there's there's one match that's uh there's only like two it's a semifinal. So they're they're waiting on one of the matches. The old me the old miss women, their matches are already set, but the other one, they're waiting on um a match to finish. They're like in the twenty-something hole or something. They broke the record today. Yeah. So it went to um they're waiting to see the other the other side is waiting to see who wins that match. But um they're I saw their they're teeing off at uh 10 after six in the morning. So uh rough. I mean, why well in the in the championship match. You gotta get up at three o'clock in the morning. The championship match is at one o'clock tomorrow. So they've got it's gonna be a long day at the course, but uh it sounds like Q school. Watch out for uh watch out for that. Um and uh there's two other ladies in this tournament that are from their state high school seniors from Mississippi. I think I saw Oak Hill Academy, maybe. Really? And they're they're they're on the opposite uh we wouldn't meet them until uh the finals, but it could be an all Mississippi all Mississippi Finals, that'd be cool. Um and on the PGA side, uh kind of slow time of year. You have the masters, and then if you at after the matches you have like what four or five weeks are just kind of meah tournaments.

SPEAKER_00

There's some signature signature events, you know, they call them signature events now, but uh not not a lot of I would say incredibly inspiring golf. Uh Cam Young, again, just is on a tear. No, well, I mean you can't not root for the guy, too. He's just you know kind of ho-hum. The only thing is like, you know, I I grew up watching Tiger and Phil and a lot of animated golfers, and you know, now with sports psychologists and and they're all like very even Q. They don't it's so damn robotic. Like there's no emotion on it out there. It's you don't see like the agony of defeat, you don't see the joy of winning. It's like, okay, I just made three million dollars. Everybody's Jim Fury. Everybody just be cool, you know. Like there's no yeah, everybody's just kind of like, okay, thank you very much. Uh and I'm not Tom Titans bragging on Cam Young, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no, he's a great guy, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Great guy, great golf, and everything, but you just kind of miss seeing a little bit of that emotion, that emotion that comes with it because I mean, uh like I said, uh when when we play, you know, just random times or you know, random golf tournament stuff, you make a long putt or something, there's oh man, that you know, not expected. Uh and I think they're like, I don't know, like they're not also live golf, live golf is uh falling life support is what we hear.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and look, I'm on in the in the breakup or whatever you want to call it, like the PGA got on my nerve too, dude. Oh, yeah. I really didn't have you made if you like held a gun on me and made me choose, I would have said PGA tour.

SPEAKER_00

But it wasn't it was like uh uh how dare you? And and I'm not saying how dare you, but you you you should have looked in the mirror and said, That's how dare you, because there was something that needed to be changed. I'll give Liv Golf uh they made some things happen. You gotta break some eggs to make some omelets, and they broke some eggs, and maybe that's the best thing that could have happened, and maybe that was the the long game, all Phil Mickelson's gonna come out and a biopic in about 20 years. We knew that that's what the and then we started Live so we could get changes done, and we knew it was gonna not it was gonna make it, but and so we could all came back to the PGA tour and it was better and and I orchestrated all the time. That really was probably what they're gonna say. But it's working out like that because things that like that, when it's so disruptive, it's so opposite, it's so it's gonna be hard for people to sustain that because the reason why you're sustaining the PGA tour is because you've got people from 10 years old to 90 years old watching the PGA tour. My 92-year-old grandmother, when I go visit her on Sundays at the nursing home, has on the PGA tour. It does not matter what event it is, she knows where it is, what's going on, because she's watched it for the last 30 years. It's either on channel four or channel nine or something. She knows exactly what's going on. She knows the golfers' names.

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, it's it's just I'm gonna say I watched less than 10 shots. I've watched less than 10 shots of Live Golf. I tried to watch an actual event one day.

SPEAKER_00

It's just not the it's just I couldn't keep up. Uh it was uninspiring golf. I don't know where these courses are most of the time. There's just some there were some times that I would know.

SPEAKER_02

They played some like they played some.

SPEAKER_00

And then they got better as the like the first year it was weird. I didn't know where any of those places were, but you know, as they got on, they moved into some some courses that you were kind of familiar with, and I was like, oh, that's kind of cool. But like I said, 10 shots. I don't think it was the courses from it just wasn't, I don't know. It just wasn't didn't it was all. It took the it took the roboticness of the PGA tour players that we were talking about and and put it into overdrive for me. Those folks literally went over there for a check. That's it. They didn't care if they won or not, they got $150 million. Why would you care if you won or not?

SPEAKER_02

I tell you, I'm in the minority on this.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't like I don't like the shorts. I don't like people wearing shorts. I don't either. I'll be honest. I'm a purist when it comes to that stuff as well, too.

SPEAKER_02

Now, if you if I was playing and it was 95 degrees, I'd be just singing a different tune. But uh with the the fabrics they have these days. That's what it always reminded me of.

SPEAKER_00

I don't want to dis disparage the Mississippi State folks, but yes, I do remember that.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I said I said Dan Mullen. I didn't say anybody at school. I just Dan Mullen. He wore shorts like it was a scrimmage and they got beat.

SPEAKER_00

It was against Florida, right?

SPEAKER_02

Huh?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and it was a it was a scrimmage?

SPEAKER_02

No, he wore shorts like he was like a spring game or something.

SPEAKER_00

But it was a real game and he Anyway, wonderful wild world of golf. Uh uh, moving on to the men's golf.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, wonderful wild world of golf. Good, good not dynamite driving in. That was, you know, we gotta remember tomorrow folks.

SPEAKER_00

Big news tomorrow.

SPEAKER_02

Hold on, first of all, first of all. First of all, we just won the SEC tournament. Well, yeah. First time since 83 or 4.

SPEAKER_00

Guess what I was gonna talk about right there?

SPEAKER_02

Chris Malloy's built a wagon at Ole Miss. Lost his best player in the middle of the season to live. Who?

SPEAKER_00

I've never heard of this guy.

SPEAKER_02

Me neither.

SPEAKER_00

Lassio? Michael Lashortsio. He come speaking of wearing shorts, live golf, that's why he went.

SPEAKER_02

And still managed to uh finish the season ranking the top ten and the NCC tournament. When the SEC tournament beat in Auburn, who's just been an absolute Jackson Coveyan. I mean unbelievable.

SPEAKER_00

If you're listening to this right now, you know who Jackson Covey is. So yeah, uh was it Colin Trollio that that beat him two and one? Uh chipped in.

SPEAKER_02

Was that was that yeah, I guess it was. Well, they we've got two Trollios and they're both playing pretty good. I get a mixed up.

SPEAKER_00

I think this is Colin Trollio that won that one.

SPEAKER_02

Um But yes, um uh what are you saying about tomorrow and I even say something? Oh yeah, I forgot.

SPEAKER_00

I was rudely interrupted.

SPEAKER_02

I was after being rudely interrupted. Tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

Tomorrow the men's golf team will find out where they are going to be playing golf in the postseason. Uh selection shows tomorrow at 1 o'clock on the golf channel. Whatever, 1 o'clock, yeah. Eastern time, Central Time, whatever. Uh, but it'll be on the golf channel tomorrow, so you can watch where the rebels will be.

SPEAKER_02

I might have to just cover that live tomorrow. It's gonna be raining. It's gonna be raining.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it is gonna come a flood, by the way, too. Here in probably just a minute.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Late night pie, if you don't realize.

SPEAKER_00

We're just like um it's eleven or fifteen right now. Eleven fifteen. We're doing this because we love putting out content. And we need to put some uh and it's been a minute since we put some.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's just this during football season, we do strictly two shows a week.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. If you watched from a lot from the beginning, we were we were strictly Monday and Thursday nights every day.

SPEAKER_02

And we're gonna get back to that. And we're gonna have some live shows coming up too uh on um I don't know if we're gonna do Wednesday or Thursday at the Los Palmos. Los Palmas Park. Um probably gonna be, I don't know, Wednesday or Thursday. We're gonna have to iron that out. And um we have some live shows uh Saturday on Saturdays as well this year.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, absolutely. Speaking of golf, too, uh we may have a live show from the uh Fairway Ranch. Go to the Fairway Ranch. Fairway Ranch. Uh we've we've started to uh lease the uh the range over there in Tupelo and try to get it going back and have a place for folks to go over and uh get their golfing practice on as well, too. So be on the lookout for that as well, too. Not quite open yet, but we're getting there.

SPEAKER_02

That's soft opening.

SPEAKER_00

We had a soft opening for the Natchez Trace Tournament, and it turned out great. We got a lot of feedback, it was nice. Uh Lil C from the Up from Podcast is also involved in that as well, too.

SPEAKER_02

So speaking of Lil C, hell, I hadn't seen him, sounds like.

SPEAKER_00

I you know, he's been off the off the map. But under the radar here a little bit. Uh off the map under the radar. But uh anyway, moving back on to our uh golf, uh the guys are gonna have uh you know a great postseason, I'm sure, as well, too. And Chris Malloy, like you said, has just done an amazing job. If you haven't been to Omest 365 uh and read the Don's uh report there on Chris Malloy, then you need to get over there and check out. Great article. Or Twitter. Great article. It's it's really, really good, well written, um, and and just a great recap of Chris Malloy's time here and you know what he's been able to do with that.

SPEAKER_02

And also, yeah, he uh people forget he caught he taught Bruce Kepka everything he knows.

SPEAKER_00

But uh anyway. It's not exactly true, but not even I think he was an assistant coach there, but he was.

SPEAKER_02

He uh I did a read where he like he does get credit for like supposedly book uh Kepka was a huge hot head and he implemented something called the five-second rule. Yeah. So I'm not exactly sure what that is, but uh five seconds before you uh litter off some. And he's um Kepka's won five majors in counting, so Chris Malloy's been around and um doing great things. Hottie Toddy, we're lucky to have him. It's just it's only a matter of time before he wins uh at uh wins it all at Old Meal. He's already won he's one, I think, one of only act uh three or four active coaches that have that has uh multiple He's a great talent scout too.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know if he's got who he's got on his staff that finds these folks, too. Kyle Ellis, too, but uh Kyle Ellis. That's a local name here you'd know if you're around around here. Absolutely. He's Kyle Ellis is around when I was in high school.

SPEAKER_02

But uh he's uh he's had two individual national champions, Jonathan Randolph and um Lasasso last year. And like I said, he's only on only one of uh three active coaches that can say they've got multiple individual national champions. That's nice. That's nice. It really is. Um Haughty Toddy, looking forward to see where they land tomorrow in the selection s selection show. Absolutely. Um one more thing before we sign off. Just some miscellaneous things we want to talk about. The NCAA tournament and the NCAA playoffs are fifth or f uh the the tournament is fixed 52 expand to like 80 teams.

SPEAKER_00

78, I think is what it was, or something like that.

SPEAKER_02

And it's gonna be like a big play-in game thing, like uh the round of what the first four, whatever they call.

SPEAKER_00

A wild card, basically.

SPEAKER_02

I think they're gonna do like I haven't paid attention to the street. They're gonna do like Well Oddly, man, the the the national media is kind of like not talking about this for some reason. I don't know. It's not set in stone yet, or they just set in stone. Well, it's not a I don't I don't know if it's actually if it's a hundred percent set in stone, but like they're not they're not like they're just like, well, this this ain't even happening. I don't know why they're acting weird.

SPEAKER_00

The only thing I saw was the 78 number. That may be completely off, but I would assume it's 12 more. Something like that. It's 12 more teams than than 64.

SPEAKER_02

It's all gonna be like a play-in round. Okay. I think is the way I explained to me. And then that then it's gonna go to instead of having, you know, the play-in round now is like what, four games is gonna be a lot more. Yeah. And it's gonna be interesting. I don't like it at all. I don't I hadn't found anybody that likes it. Uh I mean what Auburn was dang Auburn should have been in this year. That was the first team that got left out was Auburn. I mean anyway. Um the SEAA um college football playoffs. Yeah. It's going to 24 teams, whether you like it or not. It's a big money grab. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um we saw some reports too that the the coaching, you know, kind of agreed on 24 not having the uh the conference championships again. And there was something else that I can't remember.

SPEAKER_02

They kind of talked about just before we got on air that they the coaches are on board because they think it's gonna like save their jobs. Well, I made the playoffs this year. Like like I said a while ago, but is Texas gonna be happy with being the eighteenth seed and getting put out in the first or second round? I mean, come on.

SPEAKER_00

No. I d you know, the way I see that is gonna be the problem with that is having more teams is you're gonna find better pedigree teams to fill those spots than you would the Cinderella story teams that are missing getting into the 12-team playoff. You know what I mean? But I mean almost well kind of going.

SPEAKER_02

Does that make sense, like where it's like I kind of going back to the basketball, the Cinderella side of it's just not gonna happen anymore, really, with uh the way NIL is.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, but what's what I'm saying is like, are you just gonna get more pedigree teams in so you get more money, more stuff? Ohio State got in instead of or you said Georgia, I mean you said uh Texas being the 18th seed. If Texas is the 18th seed, then they're playing somebody probably who's got a pretty good name at a at a much higher seed. But the the small conference got the money from yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The small conferences that are uh for this, uh I saw like a couple, like the Southern Conference and a couple other ones are like the money grab of the of the uh the first game money. Yep, because if if they somehow get in and win the first game, you get like a lot of money.

SPEAKER_00

More money than they probably were gonna get in the entire year. Yeah, no, that's that's definitely true. Yeah, no, interesting stuff going on.

SPEAKER_02

Go to hell on NCAA. This may be their death nail right here. Yeah. Because the CFP is really like separate from the NCAA. Yeah. The NCAA tournament is not. Them going to 80, 78 teams is I mean, look, the look, the NCAA tournament has has it's expanded periodically over the years. I think at last it time expanded was in the 80s sometime. Yeah. But that's 80s too many teams. I mean, my God, that's too many teams.

SPEAKER_03

Way too many.

SPEAKER_02

But uh, anybody got anything you got anything else?

SPEAKER_00

Anybody got anything else on top of anybody? If you guys don't have anything else, we really appreciate you guys. It's been a top shelf grumbling uh podcast episode. I want to thank our sponsor again, Drew Chapman, uh 316-1331 with Patty Turk Properties. Uh, he can help you out however you want to. Go check out almost365.com as well. Uh, they got all the stories up. Don't writing some stories over here. Don't writing some stories, absolutely. I got a one on the message board. I got one I'm working on right now. Maybe two I'm working on right now, but got a couple stories coming out. Uh, and uh just uh, y'all, we really appreciate y'all listening to us. Y'all have a good night. We appreciate it.
