This week we took a more relaxed approach. With no premier league results to look back on we delved into a few random football topics. We started with our news which included the managerial switch at Liverpool and whether Iraola will be a hit or miss. We took a look at some of the past weeks transfer rumours and deals in our new transfer segment. Our opinions on the champions league final and how do Arsenal get to the next level and can they. We finished with our listeners questions and the 3 of us gave a controversial hot take for next season.

Welcome back everyone, episode forty-one, Lads on the Sideline podcast. It's me, Connor, joined by Sean. How's everybody? Welcome back. He's your brother, by the way. Yeah, we say that to start with. Oh, isn't he my brother? Is he after your sister? And um obviously no button in there, he's half harder. Well welcome back everybody, thanks for listening. So yeah, season's over. Huh? Champions League finished cups. Done, leagues done. World Cup starts in what? Eight days, no, don't eight days, is it what it's like? Nine, toast a week. That's the fourth match in Mexico, isn't it? South Africa, I think, isn't it? It's quite a little far too. Yeah, well as you said they were leaving last week, aren't they? I'm not expecting a McNivasm World Cup, but I suppose sometimes you're not expecting something and turn out different. I mean expecting good games, they can be sh crap. So it could be the opposite, it could be it could be the best World Cup. Hopefully, like yeah, it's the biggest, isn't it? It's the biggest with most of the games, but it's gonna be get the teams no disrespecting them, like I don't even want to get battered looking. Call out of respect. Ghana and Par Panama and all if people listening, thanks very much for listening, but it's look it wouldn't be putting them down as much as we put down Ireland if Ireland got there, they'd be the same. We'd we'd call them out too. Yeah, people still have to the teams have to play, like that's just the way it is, it's no problem. But I'd be definitely looking through it and picking out the big teams. Yeah. No, but you know what? It depends on whether you're at home or if it was a match on you, just throw it on. Look at you know what it is, it's just great for the supporters. Yeah, yeah. If if if it's some people there to get in there for the fourth time, like Edward and Oldley, it's great for that country, it's great for the supporters, and the travelers would just say, and no matter what comes or goes, they're happy enough just to be there to celebrate the World Cup. Yeah, and you know what it is about, like we obviously we're here in Ireland, so there's some matches I see just having the luxury of six pictures there. Haiti playing Scotland at two o'clock in the morning on the 14th of Thank God June, you know the Scottish League, no Scottish League and Arsenal chance to eight as well. So stuff like that. Obviously, now I'm sure there might be people that could be waiting on a bit another hour in the morning. Look at Correct. That's something that they won't be waking up for that. No, that was Ireland, the course would be. Do you know? So other people will, and that's exactly it's other people's World Cups would be it's different for like for everybody. Like one people, some people definitely have expections of the uh expectations of their country winning it, and others won't, and others will be just there to to enjoy the the fun and the to to to to crack at the World Cup make a big holiday of it. We won't be there, so they can't. Yeah, don't you? It's it's are the matches still on at like two on the day and five o'clock around. Yeah, but there's uh Monday the 15th of June, Spain are playing Cabo Verde at five o'clock. Belgium playing Egypt that day at eight o'clock. Think players of them, you know. Uh place for rowers. Oh, is that true, yeah. Very talk. Yeah, pretty good. Yeah, Uruguay. I think Uruguay are in that group as well, isn't it? Good. That's their fourth. I don't know what that's their first time ever calling that. That's what I'm saying. Do you know I think like when they go in and they celebrate it so much like there you go, you probably bring laws and just have a big party. Say that's the only thing where it like expanding, it gives these countries a chance to get to it, doesn't it? Yeah, and look at Khmer, it like as a spectacle, it'll still be great, but look at them, there's gonna be some matches now like that, and they could be cricket scores. That's why I look forward to it. The next day, just looking at the goals. Yeah, someone I'm sure, sorry, someone somewhere will put up the clips. Do you sit back and watch them? Yeah, I look forward to looking at that then, you know, and yeah, any controversial issues to keep them top of that. You said there'd be cricket scores, but just say England are playing someone that they should be beaten. Like Harry Kane will want to be scored in two or three, and them guys for the golden boot and stuff like that. Ireland and all, yeah. Like so. Yeah, definitely like if you point their everything. What's the record again for the golden boot? Uh eight or nine, I think we're not going to be. I think this is going to be beaten this year. Yeah. Because of the way it's it should be. Yeah. Yeah. But I I don't know what we'll cross that thing when it comes to it. I don't think that should be really counted. I mean, it's currently not controversial, I say, but you can't have depends on who they're playing, like Harry Kane's scoring four goals against Fumont. Yeah, fair off. No, it doesn't work like that. That's you know, well, it is going to work like that, but that's for me. Um I'd look forward to watching it. Yeah, do you know? Yeah, look at you know what it's like it's like the Champions League when you get to the draw, isn't it? Some of the games like um like when it was at the open draw force to say it was only four teams in the league, like it's always a toll game that if you have to win it, they're exciting. It's like the World Cup, you can play a couple of games, and but if you have to win that toward game to go to the next round, there'll be good games definitely. At the start, it's coming it's always hit and miss, isn't it? Well you know, there would be some sort of a shock somewhere along the way. You look at all the groups, you could probably pick out two teams and all that to go through. Not they're all not gonna go through. It's gonna be some sort of a surprise somewhere. Yeah, somebody'll fall down to be nagged when with players and like players on Grand Bridge other that are playing with other teams and yeah, and you don't know if you haven't got the harmony right when you get to the World Cup, it could fall apart if you're fairly quick. Right, cards, yeah, decisions. Hopefully there is, and it keeps it interesting. Yeah, true, yeah. Exactly. We'll have a proper little look at the World Cup next week. Yeah, yeah, give her a little preview and give her who we think are gonna win, top scorers and whatnot. Argentina, come on, Carl, you're wearing that jersey. Ah never, never. 45, is it? Um but yeah, obviously we've no fixtures to look back on this week, bar one, which will be obviously the Champions League final in a few minutes. But er, we've got a bit of news or talking points wherever you want to look, right? Um we started off with the two managers because one is out and one is in, so slat is gone. And by the looks of things, Erie Ola is all about signs. So big decisions from the royal football club. Yeah, no, do you know what I'm not surprised really because I even taught the Liverpool fans, I think they were delighted. Um but now I don't know, haven't been taught them to see what you think of uh Ariola just say, because um he's still like he's a great manager where he does a great job at Barman and all, and but it's a big jump up, so look, it's 50-50. If we had gone and went and said the same thing, we could have been in for him as well instead of Carrick and would have said the exact same thing. He's different, he can win there with different ideas, and Liverpool the players you need to chuck up a bit, don't they? They just had a one lazy lazy lazy um season last season, didn't he? I mean raging. Raging, yeah, dude. It's lots of terrible. Oh sorry, I thought you said you're raging, you got your IO. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, not raging, but like like that's a good I think it's a good decision, the more I think of it. Yeah, you know, that's the remains to be seen. He's Premier League proven, but is he Premier League proven for a top team? He's never a friend of our saying that was on the podcast before said to us today that he's no your zero European experience, you know. I know I know that's in the league, but you have to manage the Champions League with the league, you know. So will you be able to do that? So he's a bit nervous about that, but he's happy enough for him, but who else was really available? See, that's it. You know, we said podcasts go at this stage that it's the best chance to get all the managers, but no, I didn't really, as I said before, I didn't really think it through, but not that many really, and for the again, the profile of Liverpool, they're very, very big team. Like, so it's a big jump, yeah. You know, so who else could you get? But so I know some people out there that would have picked Ariola over Carrick, which I probably wouldn't have been too upset with myself. But again, it's a massive jump. Look at Gamble. It's a gamble, not a gamble. Yeah, you're not gone, I definitely get him. Yeah, no, like if any games have free the whole any club in the world would want to hit 100%. But like I said, even I think you mentioned it before Carrick signed or when he was on the Verge sign, they were like he could go out and get Asna or Air Hall or something, but if someone said would you swap down a carrier now, he'd be just him and on and about it, like nearly in the same category, but maybe yeah. The man plays better football, but it's a different animal. Yeah, like if you look at Bournemouth, they play better football than than us, but I think anyway, they might be you might disagree. The results don't show that. Right, fair enough. You might think a bit harsh now on United. But I think he does has played better football with them, but it's I'm not gonna say it's only Bournemouth. Yeah, you know that they're really good team, well drilled, and they play better football, as I said, but it's a different animal when you're manager Manchester United. All them superstars, all even superstars, but people might be laughing at me saying that you don't have but it that the personalities you're gonna put Bournemouth to them, even though we got rid of all that the troublemakers last year, you still don't have to manage Bruno Fernandez, you still don't have to manage Harry Maguire, Luke. So I've been there, done that. All international big personality, but he'd be like them or these people. Exactly. So it's a hard exactly, that's what David Mind's probably struggled with as well back in the day. Do you know what? You know, do you know what we I'd be looking at as well from a different point of view as well? It'd be the outside nice you see, like it it's that's all right, that's all what you said, so I agree with everything you said as well, right? But do you know what it is with the likes of United and all in Liverpool, especially United in Liverpool, just say Al Real Madrid and all, but Liverpool are the same, they're a massive club, right? And if you fart the wrong way, they'll they're all over you. Do you know what I mean? Like it's been able for the outside nice. Just waiting. Do you know what I mean? Like the good times will be good times, and that's alright. The bad times would be it'd be cruel, and are you able for that pressure? I was looking at one of the newspapers yesterday, and so you do this Tuesday, so Monday after the Champions League final, and there's like a little thing on the bottom with PSG and Arsenal, and then like the whole back pages of their slot. So it's like you said, whenever something happens at United Liverpool, getting the set is bigger than the Arsenal losing at the Champions League final, or PSG winning the Champions. Where are the way you want it up there? Look at Don't mention Le Mans winning sign of the season, that could be bigger as well. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll come to that because I'm saying, like, if that was in Spain, Real Madrid would be all over the place, just so you know the crucified down as well over there, just there. But you remember a lot of peppers we read and all the journals that we we hear about from the mirror and the sun and the telegraph and the start and all and all these people, or all the English women's just there, right? So they're only waiting for news. So the hound a big club. What bigger news is that nearly? Yeah, how is slot? Well, I know how because yeah, much bigger club than Arsenal. But that's I know Arsenal lands like again, they'd be like, What are you talking about? But that's that's just provision. That's that's the selling news, baby. I'm not gonna put Arsenal on the back pages, and that's just it's never really gonna be. It's just I don't know what it is about them, just go away. It sort of has a little feel off it, yeah. You know, even city and Chelsea, like they'll never get to that level. No, no, they've been. No, no. The history doesn't get them to that level, and that's it. And they didn't do themselves any favours this year with the way they've acted. No, no, or their fans like their delusional state of mind, is unbelievable. Oh my gosh. But that definitely doesn't help. But the papers know that why he's writing things out there. No one's really gonna care about that as such. You have to put it in because it's it's a bit s news, but yeah, slot sack boom train. That's gonna yeah, that's gonna catch your attention more than yeah. So this is the right thing. So you're going by 10 to the um you have to be able to draw that. It's a big huge step up. Oh, he's he's in he's in the limelight now. You know what I mean? So it has to hit the ground running a bit. And they'll back him again, no doubt, and put another 400 million probably into it. That's that's just what has to happen. So I'll ask you, yes or no, will he be a success this year? No, we don't think so. I think now Sean, no. No, I mean. No, yeah, I'll do the same. I'm sorry, I I look for it the same way that I looked at Arsenal and the fairness and look at the Garola line this year. I said it to you a few times in the text to Shane as well earlier when uh we were talking about it. No lower team manager has ever done well with a bigger team in the Premier League and like just countless numbers, yeah, like numbers of people that I did, like Moyes, all of that went to Chelsea, Potter and all, Pogettino, um, the sports, Nuno, all these lads. You just can't take that step up. And as much as you get players with Premier League experience, it just doesn't seem to be the same at managers, does it? Doesn't know. Like I don't know what he's like. I'd like him, but yeah, I don't know that all Thomas Frank and I like getting sacrificed by him sports. Yeah, and what's a big job, lads, isn't it? It's a big jump up. I tell you what, he has a better chance of staying at Liverpool than he would have at United. Not just because they're a better rank club which they are and better players and a better team. Yeah, I'm gonna say that, yeah. Which is it pains me to say it, but it's again you go up to you think Liverpool's big, take a step to United. Take a step to United. Yeah, the pressure. If that was another paper that'll be slot sacked, carrick sacked, in the big block letters to compare to the small, then that's the way it'd be. Look, it that's it's a pre for you look at it's immense with United. Yeah, no matter what you do with United. Well, you have the chance, but I don't think so. I think it's gonna be so big for him. Look, now uh I hope you think is I don't actually think the team is actually very good either. Like I know you said they're a better team than United, but actually look at the players he brought in last year, and like they're gonna have to buy completely different players again. If he's like this real pressing sort of manager, I mean Grand's out Arsenal a little because we were talking earlier, we're gonna be able to Arsenal taking the next step, but like Liverpool, if he's coming in to try to play this pressing sort of game, like you do, you sort of have to now, but Isaac isn't gonna do that. Verts does it, but he's not the most aggressive player ever doing it. Like Hallis will be another year older. So Balls might be the best example of doing it. Yeah, yeah. They kind of have to change players again. Like it doesn't work unless anybody's doing it. Look at it to be fun to start, and you know what? Between the three of us who've run my night fans, we hope you do crap. Yeah, I like him as a manager, but now he's Liverpool, I hope you do crap. Yeah, so speaking from experience, because I've seen one or two Liverpool fans say this again. And again, speaking from experience from Ferguson, we always look back and think, alright, what manager's gonna be like Ferguson? And it just doesn't happen. And straight away for Liverpool fans like he plays more like Klopp. Klopp was a bit of an anomaly for Liverpool. So you can't always be looking back at Klopp and what he did with. Yeah, like you you cannot just go and replace him like Klopp, probably ever. Yeah, not at all. So the very old can't be compared to Klopp at all. No, the way he plays and all like this. That's that's right. That's why you're looking back at the Maya straight away. Yeah, what's I want to do? Because the fans won't be on board ever unless he plays like Klopp. Yeah, no matter how much ah you can't. Yeah, Man City. It's looking at Man City be the same now with Moresca, like if if like thinking they're gonna be playing like Pep Guardiola, no, it doesn't work. Yeah, certainly it's it's it's not that easy. Yeah, I mean like you know sticking with sort of Liverpool teams and there was a player we should hate because he played by Leeds, Liverpool and Man City, James Milner. Oh yeah, no, he's probably one of the most professional players you could come across, but yeah, you should hate him because it's the teams he played for, but he was consistent, wasn't he? In fairness, and fairness to him like look. He played for six premiership clubs over 24 years. You can't you can't knock him for that. In fairness, yeah. Yeah, he has this uh parents' record now, isn't he? For all the trivia fans out there that'll last in the years to come. Look in the Premier League he has six hundred and fifty-eight games, but in total, it's obviously so you're talking about international games and all, he's 964. Maybe he's not the most I yes, didn't he? Barry was up to that till he beaten um this year, like yeah. And then with a member, he was nearly over all season in 24, 25 or something as well, Milner. Yeah, I think he was I think we couldn't have asked the village at the time by Liverpool, maybe in Liverpool at the time. And um he was injured all season. Well, look, yeah, they give it to him, but he won the Champions League and all, didn't he? Liverpool and won a couple of leagues now, with seat you know, and so look he he he has a good resume there, you know, and like after 24 years in the Premier League's good game. No, it is good. I know what you say. Jesus, yeah. True. We'll finish now with the two European Cups before the big one, then just Palace. I mean, two trophies in a row, two years in a row, like thought you was Palace. He was all that big players, SAs of Lisa, yeah. And they're probably enjoying themselves more now than they ever have. Look another good manager that you'll have to replace a couple more players will be home, the tether will go, but more will probably go. Like you have to start again, yeah, and yeah, and you know what the usual their priority we to be just to stand the league again, yeah. And more than that as a bonus, but look at the last couple of years, they're getting great bonuses, isn't he? Yeah. Someone said I'll have to look at it. Like these play teams like Barnett, Bright uh Brentford, probably Brighton as well, and now Palace, when they lose big players, that they always do their business early. I'm they're sure there's one or two deals in there already over the line for certain clubs like that. If you I'm sure if you look back, I haven't though it could be wrong, but they always get the deals done early. Yeah. So they all have full pre-season. The majority of these players won't be at international level, yeah. And then you just work with them, then they hit the ground flying, and they just keep them for a couple years and you sell them. I don't know if that's a strategy, it probably is. Yeah, so money making machines, such as the early again for players like that, you're right. In January been born at Salzmany, and we said, Oh, keep an eye out on your man Ryan that decided. So they're saying he's worth a hundred million now if farmer doesn't sell him. Yeah. Like, how do you face fine? That's counting is great, isn't it? Like you're in a croopy and all, like, he looks really good, this, that, and the other. Like, but well look, fair play at the palace. Fairness to them, and they'll they'll probably look at next season and think right covenantry, Ipswich, whole we should say up above them. Yeah, one or two teams might be worse than the and give the cups another good go. She might pick up another cup. Doesn't it prove that if you like like for all these teams like you know, like when when when the big teams are playing the second teams and then you they're just not good enough in the United knows losing the Grimsby and all, yeah, and then other teams like putting their second string out and they know they're just not good enough. These these teams like United should be doing it, putting the better team out, don't get me wrong. But these teams they go for it, and you're right, Connor. They play the teams to to beat these teams, and they they proved that as as a team now, Crystal Palace. There's no way you think Crystal Palace will get to the finals like that and win the finals and winning European Cup games now and all that. That's that's proof to everybody that anybody can win them. Anyone can win the cup, but look at we'll give it to Arsenal the best emotion of the league over 28 games, but anybody can win the cup. Yeah. That's proof. You look at Brighton or in the Conference League now next season. They're not going to win the league. No, shouldn't get relegated. Surely their main focus next year is to win the conference league. Yeah, it'd be favour, imagine. Yeah. Not the wealth is in it. Yeah, that'd be a brilliant for Brighton fans. Yeah. No matter what European, but nobody has any expectation of them to win anything towards the European trophies. If they if you set the Brighton fans and Yamanda Owens and right, they'll you'll finish sixth next year, or you'll finish 11th and win the Conference League. Sure the fans are like, yeah, absolutely. Give me that and a trophy. Give me the cup. Yeah percent, yeah. Well that at least like um well Brighton deserved it, but be where they were, and Crystal Palace deserved the win. They wanted and they got they deserved the win and the result that they got. Yeah. And they went to the next team and they deserved the result that they got. Well, you turn on the game on the weekend. Farden, wasn't it? My god. One team wanted to attack and then the other team are I don't know, you don't know. They're just epitomised them for the whole season that game did one or two arsenals that I know that sent the personal matches like not too harsh to them, you know. I was not sympathetic to them, but a little bit because we we went in the final, yeah, you know, so but geez, I put it in a nice way, like saying the Art Hedder could have been more brave and all, you know. But looking back and sort of look just thinking about geez, they were terrible, weren't they? Yeah, well they just tried to hold on for the whole match to one and win. But they went, they never got about the win games. No, like they put it all on the line. Oh, they defend very well. I give them that they defend and make it really hard. But what I liked about that game was the referee. Yeah. Now there's a couple of dodgy decisions, he could have been um on Madawake that could have been a penalty within the sack it and he caught the ball. He missed kicked the ball, so he created their own chaos for himself. Exactly. It's ridiculous. Even the goal I thought should have been that should have been disallowed, even though Harvard took a very good goal and put it in the net, but they were brutal. And the referee wasn't having any waste time based. He actually had a great game with the referee. Overall, it was a hard game with that type of style of play match. It's hard, yeah. You know, but don't you like it? I don't know where I was reading it, but he said the referee refed the game, not the AR. Yeah. And I was like, Yeah, you did. The PSG penal that they got the sort of look a little bit, but was a blatant pennel. Yeah, there's no outside the box, inside the box. That's all they're looking at. He all the decisions he made were the right ones, and they were his his choices, like yeah, he kept the game going well, like the key like just the sacred handball. Jesus Christ. Even the corner, no, like not letting them take it because you're strolling over. Good, good, yeah, and then giving them yellow cards or throw-ins, and so there's one stage Saka picked up the ball to take a throw, then he gave it to Moscara, and he waited for Royce to come over then to take a long throw. And you're like, it's unbelievable. It's a horrible horrible football. I'm delighted in the end because it deserved it. Not for people I know personally, but listen, at the end of the day, it's horrible. They can't be happy with that kind of football. I know a Premier League and a but the whole world is late in Arsenal there. Yeah, yeah, you know, every the whole world the whole world hates Arsenal because the way they play football and it's negative, and it's many other reasons. Yeah, well, everyone hated United back there because we're the best, yeah, and we are exciting. Um, Ferry time, but that's because we went for things, yeah. And like a ferry time could be a a four or three win, but that you're not gonna get four or seven goals having one shot on target. No, not the first six minutes. They all had the six minutes and he didn't have another shot after that, wherever it was. Yeah, for the whole 110 minutes. Yeah, yeah, and then you think to talk about George and Reno parking the bus. Well, he's parking six buses. Yeah, it's crazy. You know what I mean? Like, and it's frustrating again, not frustrating, but it's just like what. Down the players just let them off the leash. Yeah, good players do it. Yeah, they defend very well, they give them that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Very solid, yeah, back and forth. They make it difficult. Good goalkeepers, goals. That's their style of play, though. Yeah. Have a point later on. Um I talk we'll talk about now. And the guy who was saying, like, if this was United, remember that's that word, that phrase style of play. Yeah, very well. That was always at United, there's no style of play, no, this, and Arsenal fans gave me death over the years, and there wasn't. There wasn't, there wasn't, and we were terrible now. All the managers I'm not gonna mention them. That's our tete the style of play, and no one's mentioned it. Maybe even a one blog really gives a shit. But I think people have to start giving a shit because that's the best team in England that we have to offer to play against Shield. That's a style of play, it's horrendous. And I wouldn't mind it. Wasn't that like 10 minutes really sort of attacked a bit? Yes, it was kind of very good. Their game's open, their game's open, it's exciting, it's this. But then, like you said, that's where like I don't know, sound way sets up that way on certain like read matches. Because when that ten minutes did happen, yeah, Maliban Call of Hope should have scored twice. But my question then to you would you pair would be where how do I go to the next level? Because I don't think they can this manager as bad as that sounds. Oh my god, I have a question for the two years later on. But I'd agree with you saying that. Like I think maybe we were talking about it, but like they're so like good defensively as a as an 11, not just back forward and all. Like you can't bring in certain wingers or midfielders that don't track back and close down in this team. Like maybe that's why Eze doesn't start all the time. Because Olivia does more work than them or defends the team. Havertz suits them more because he closes down more than Yoko has in this time. What players are out there? Good question, that's a meaning. So if you I don't think there is if you bring in a I'd like that, I don't even know what good winger, just your man Rafael said he wants to leave AC Milan. So if you think right perfect left winger for Arsenal, so he's doesn't track back or close down around. So that's one out of ten players or eleven players that doesn't close down. So then does that just ruin the whole thing then? Yeah, it does work, yeah. One meeting, yeah, yeah. One piece of the jigsaw has to live. Unless you're exceptional. Like if they put Harry Kane there, you wouldn't expect him to do it, but he's just so good on the ball and so good and clever that he'd be able to cheat a bit. Yeah, but the rest of them have to put in the work. But even if they sign Carvis Gelliot on the left, they'd have to put Matt Major and even for him, but he does work hard, but you're only taking away from his attacking ability because the rest of them they don't play attacking football. No, yeah, well, you know, so it's a good question. I think you have to get perfect players for them to be brilliant. Almost hope he stays in some ways. If they change the rules as well, like what they're doing in the World Cup as well, it'll be a different Premier League next year as well if they if they woke and you and you did bring it into the Premier Ship, they won't be getting like 75 uh goals from seven from from 65 coins. But you don't shocking Champions League final, it was terrible, I thought. Yeah, it was it. Ferguson put well, didn't he? Yeah, he congratulated the chairman, was it? Yeah, um fair play. You're you played against a team that didn't want to play football, and you're the only team that wanted to play football and try and win the game. That's the truth. Four shots, one on target, 25% possession. 25% possession. That's a low new low. Yeah. And who had the one before that, the record? Then as well, wasn't it? Yeah, 2006. No, like even that just say, right? But that was I wouldn't mind that. Or like we've we're United fans, we've seen United play big games and against Liverpool and City over the years and trend, and you're like, oh, hopefully you can catch them on the break. But like you said a second though, this is England's best team. Yeah, we they're seven years into their journey. Project like that, you always say it. Like if that was Aston Villa or United, or if Chelsea somehow got to the Champions League final and they sat back and defended, then you'd be like, alright, fair enough. You could understand that. But this is the best team that England has. No, we played it on people like I know some of the cheeky Arsenal fans out there, and they'll say that. Remember, I mean they beat Barcelona beat us that day, but if you look at air possession that I didn't actually check, I probably should have. But which one was this then? The fourth and the second one. I'd like the fourth and United actually played well. Yeah, most people could have scored and whatnot. Like, so yeah, really gets the best team ever. But this is the thing, that's the difference. But then the second one, like you look at the team United had that. I don't know how United got through Champions Team finally, Darren Gibson and all playing like that year. Yeah, or Ronaldo, nothing like that. But you're playing against that Barcelona team who's been involved, the best club team of all time. That's the difference, even though PSG are good. They're not that Barcelona team. No, that's that's I'm not saying it's an excuse, but there's no excuse when I'm playing that against that PSG thing. They were there to be got it at the back. They're a good team, they're really good forwards, and the do no one flyed at the forwards in a way, sort of far when Carvas Kelly were in and they gave a penal away, which was a penal, and anyone thinks it wasn't as checked. But they were there to be got it. Like the two wing backs fly up and down. Oh, stop it. They're good wing backs, but like that probably was a penalty on Melabeke, I'd say. But then there should have been a penalty on Sackismo and Ball. But you know what I mean? It's just it's just overall, it was just poor. Overall, you got what you deserve. Yeah, justice for football, in a way. Yeah. So the the best team won the Champions League overall this year, didn't he? Definitely being Byrne and not in the games to beat them in exactly. Yeah, two good games with them with Bayern Munich in the semi-finals on that one to beat Arsenal in the final. Yeah, they deserve them, PhD, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I guess. So we're gonna move on quickly before Sean's questions to our new little segment just for the summer. So it's gonna be our transfers, just sort of big transfers that we've heard of for the last week. Um see what he's thinking and whatnot. So the four two are just Tottenham, two free transfers. So Andy Robertson, yeah, he's got the scores, and Mansanesi is gone from Bournemouth. There must be something with him than no one else is going over him. Yeah, is he is he not that good? I'm not sure. I'd have to I'll watch him more, but he's good in the Bournemouth team. He's one of these overhigh players. How is he a free agent at that age? And if he's that good of a that good as a good part of a good Bourmer team, sorry, something trying to say, he was one of the standout defenders. Yeah, why is he going afraid to sports? Something that right unless he's a sports fan and and he's die hard. I don't think so. Going from Irentine, is my right, isn't it? Um but that's very good business from sports. Yeah. Andy Robertson is he won't play every game, but it'll help steady the ship. You're good in the dressing audience, yeah. They need to get up that table one game a week. He'll he could play one game a week. Nice little life from London now. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, so that's good. Yeah. Another free transfer, then it's not fully signed yet, but Canada is going to Real Madrid four-year contract, they're saying. Football. From Liberal? From Liverpool. Yeah, he's going to Real Madrid. I don't know. Free transfer to Real Madrid. So well yeah, that would be that would be that's a show. That's the first ahead of that. Yeah. Sorry, so they remember, put it up today, yeah. He's um He's not Rudiger, like you know what I mean. I know, yeah. He's gone to Real Madrid. He might be surprised that could be a to know what I'm not even saying that it could shoot him because it'd be a slow leg and that's it. Yeah, but he's making physically right, yeah. That's why I think Shoomini might stay. He loves a big six footer, doesn't he? But it's every time he has it. When he's at United, it's like Haki of Ibrahim, Dich Fellini. It's hard to break down big lads, isn't it? He likes it. Like whether Tumini wants to stay. Like if Chiumini stays just saying Valverdi stays just saying, should you have somebody else? And then they're gonna bring Rodri, and is a surreal gonna wonder them two gonna be on the bench? Did they want to be a bench player? You have to look at a different man, don't you? That's right. Now we can say, Look, yeah, you if they bring in Rodri, like you mean you know you're gonna be the tow choice. It's Valverde, and he's the captain. So I'd be like weekend, we can't. And they're not bringing Simon Rodrigues to put him on the bench. So it's so Tumane said that's he'd be saying you're you're gonna be on the bench. Come to us. Yeah. Er next and then sort of slightly united, but not really, because Anderson sort of heavily backed fame to go to sea. They're asking for 110 to 120 million. If any players were that, like probably not in the world, or if ever, but he sort of you know all these things he follows City now, and he's starting to like hang around with one or two City players. Learn them. Well no, so I'd love to see it. But if not, I think he'd transform United. But you only want to take players that want to come to the yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true, yeah. So he knows United or after them. Yeah, United won't probably go and pay the money. But if you did, like like if you did that for the matchman cities and he just wants to go to City, then just let him go to the city. If it's the case that he would like to go to United, but but but not in the far say now like you'd rather get an extra 20 million or 40 million out of Manchester City, then he's probably getting 70 or 80 grand a week extra as well. It's uh to beat the band, yeah. So they give him 300 grand a week. Yeah, he did mark eighty, I think. United probably give him one fifty, yeah. Like they did Conya and thing. So he's probably gone there for double. Probably probably get two fifty out of him, probably get 100 grand a week more out. Yeah, but you know it's not about money either. No, that that's my point. If you're gone for things that then they can fuck off. Yeah, because I'm saying you want to go to United and be the player that's there for another ten years and can bring them back to the glory desk. But if it's not, it's just room or whatever, and he should you could be you wouldn't know, trying to you could be using City to get to United, that's where my brain goes, but if that's the case and all that's fake, then you'd welcome them, but if not, then piss off. Well, maybe you've signed a four-year contract with City next year, or year after playing the championship, after you're getting deducted 80 points or something. Yeah, you're right, wouldn't it? Yeah, this is the thing, yeah. Uh yeah. So then on to I saw the last sort of week or two, Edderson's basically nearly all but done, isn't it? So I think it's more so United have to pull the trigger, is it to say, sort of £35 million. I think they're still sort of looking around forced. Yeah, I think that's in the think of it. But then one year left on his deal, an Italy player, he's a big physical bear, and he has some good attributes now, but £35 million rising at £38. Is that the going right? Is it? I don't know. Look at me, you didn't win and just look at him last week. They look at them for the last couple of years. They must have something going for him. Like I know his add-ons, like all add-ons, and so this player I'm gonna mention, it'll be bigger, the add-ons would be bigger, but I man Gordon going to to that to um Barsa, he's got four years left in this deal. Yeah. And he's only 24 and he got about 60 million. Now it's rising. 60 million pounds is rising, but it could be quite up to 80 million euro, I think, is something like that. But that's obviously whatever add-ons he's getting, but this how like are we only paying if for someone who's 27? Yeah, how how are they only paying that and we're playing? It's not that far away. Well, if you look at the position, that's all there isn't and God is a winger, isn't he? Like so we can't let United Nationship look at 25 million the difference, I suppose, but like that's mad. When I'm trying to put paint that type of picture, you know, but I think I don't know. Well, look at I'll take him as I say if he's if he's the if he's the second or third choice, but he can't be the fourth choice. But then you could prove it's wrong and end up being the first choice. We don't we don't know much about him. But I just know he's physical and he's big, and some people like him, some people say like he could he could replace Casemiro, he's all action, all good, he's good on the ball, he's a good pass, yeah, he's physical. So like and he has to come over now and he'll have to prove a point. Yeah. Simple as that. Yeah, then I saw earlier on, then I think uh Samuel Lookhorse or Ben Jacobs or something saying about Fernandez and West Ham. It's basically saying that United is the club he wants. Um West Ham want like 80 million. Of course they don't. Yeah, they they signed it for like 39 or something from Southampton. Yeah. So they wanted like double their money. Well, that's what ridiculous. And they can keep wanting all they want. Yeah, exactly. Fuck off. If you're not you pay that money, they can No, they can't, they have to watch that. Yeah, so we got relegated last year at Southampton. So his price goes up, and they're relegated. And then it comes down and it gets relegated and he and his price gets double. Yeah. Something wrong with that. No, and he's 21 or something as well, only into the bargain? No. No, and that's the price they want then for. 50 million of 55 million. You and now he is good playing, and we watched him and we watched it more of them, didn't we? Yeah. Near the end of the season because of West Ham, just saying sports, and he's definitely a good midfielder, but um it no more we wouldn't be giving any more than 55 million. No. Just better players if you're gonna be going up the spec with the money, yeah, and that's it. And then the last two, then one in and one out, uh saying Lewis Hall's the number one choice now left back for United. He's a good player. So you want to try and talk to Newcastle about him. Yeah. So hopefully they got it, like you know what I mean. Uh he'd be our sort of number one and then try be our backup, which would mean then that he might not get a left winger, and maybe Cunya and Dorgio could be our two left wingers, which okay fairly. He goes to that line as well. Like he's a good danger, and only a good junk. Hopefully they get to Manton Ali at New Castle. Yeah. And then the last one then out is Onane. So his loan is finished now because it's due, but Trabzon Spour want to take my loan again next season. So look at the loan for a month, just getting out of the club as well. Yeah, okay, you're not you're not paying any money for him to pay his wages, that's enough. Yeah, exactly. Just gathering out of the club back to Tokyo. Uh yeah, they're the sort of the the big transfers for the week. So at the moment, yeah, yeah, we do that again next week and never know. Come here. Look, as the weeks go on, we'll have big signings and signings and things breaking down. So we can talk about them. So before we go on to Sean's questions, you know, you've hit you wanted to mention something, did you about the one? No, no, generally head and don't know about his head on that, like in the like the couple of new changes coming in the World Cup that are supposed to speed up the games of the World Cup. Like um Fire like like um Eldon with red cards and yellow cards now, which I think is which I think is definitely a good thing. Because a lot of people get second yellow cards and they don't deserve them to get in there in the red card, they can go back and look at it and make sure that it's not. But the good ones are like the like the ref the goalkeeper just say that like if you it's five seconds to take a kick out, and if it doesn't take a kick out within five seconds, it's a corner. And like one like that should cut out a lot of racial abuse would be that um if you're just saying you're playing for uh just say England and I'm playing for Ireland, just say and we're both playing against the other, and we both were like this, and you had your jazz up, or you had your hand over your face, yeah, but it's a dispute, um it's a red card if you put your hand up or your jazz you're both because you're good. But if it's me and you're playing on the same team when we do it, yeah, that's okay because we're just talking tax. Yeah, you know what I mean. Like, and then like this one about goalkeepers killing time and then people ruling over the line and get walled and then talking to the managers and all and getting instructions on now, the referees have to have permission to keep the players on the pitch, maybe in the centre circle and what if to say it was in in an injured goalkeeper. Oh, trying to kill the ball, and then you go over and get tactical talks over on the side. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, they're not allowed that. The people come onto the pitch, look after the goalkeeper, and all the players have to stay on the pitch. And another one, another one is if you don't take a troll within five seconds, is the troll goes to the other team. And then if you're a substitute and your your your number is being called, like you say you're going off, we've arranged it fair enough to just say right, you still have to go off when you're able to walk within the ten seconds. If you're only getting called that and you're having a bad game, you have to go off at the nearest point within ten seconds, and if you don't go off within ten seconds, you're off, and the player that's actually replacing it as your substitute as as as you as the substitute has to wait for more than a minute on the sideline. So if so you team up to play with ten players for a minute, but that minute could be a minute and a half because you can only do when the bog is outplayed the next time. So everything is due is to speed the game up. Okay. Which I think is only a good thing, you know. Look at the way they've got they got obviously because it's in where they are, it's going to be three minute breaks in each of the in each of the each half of the games because of the heat and all. That's fair enough. Yeah. I didn't know that actually, that's very good. Yeah, look at look, but the the one where I like but was was that was it was for racial abuse on and like because what happens on which is very important, um, because you want to cut it out in the game. Very good. You know what I mean? Yeah, okay. No, yeah, that's good, yeah. Um yeah, look at like you said, that's no fixtures of Premier League or anything to look back at. So the episodes going forward will be a bit shorter. So um Sean has a lot of questions there, don't you say? Oh, a couple, yeah, yeah. So there's uh um just not the same sort of questions, but just a lot of them are about Arsenal. So, lads, everybody wrote into me or text you all back and all saying it's not pointing to Arsenal again. No, um and the and the channel is he finally, you know. That was a lot of bombarded with them to be honest. Yeah, I've hopefully we covered everything in what we said about Arsenal there, so I appreciate that. Right, and I mean lads, keep them coming. Um there's one question from Michael last week why don't we spend more time reviewing um the Irish League? I maybe uh maybe answer that for it. We don't. I think he's right. I think we probably should. Because a lot of international people who are listening to us now might think, why don't we give it? The quality's not great, obviously. Maybe we should think about something. I don't know, what do you think? Why why why why don't we? Why is the quality's crap? Or it's getting better now, but I mean we've had touched on it in the past, but we don't have a segment around for it. Yeah, I think it hasn't said that now, that's what I'm probably thinking where he where he's coming from, you know. I know we you used to ring the United Pats years ago, but maybe it's for when you're a kid and you're playing football and you're watching United and you're doing this and you're doing that, and like you're out every day of the week doing something. You just kinda start a time when you're younger, so if you're not doing it when you're younger, and you're hard to get back into it. Yeah, yeah, actually a bit man United. And look, it's after coming on and finish on that. The question could be could could be relevant because the league is still going on, so that's how it takes. There's no football the same is not what there is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I actually agree with Michael there so much too. Maybe it's the three of us. Yeah, if we should go out like maybe hard to get tickets on here for certain things, but yeah, but you're right, I would go. Yeah, yeah. Might have to venture out like that. So, what do you think? Yeah, yeah. Well, look at the reason why I never followed is because when I played in the Lancer Senior League, actually you played with Patsy for six months, as I went to that like from years ago and was only young for it. Um, but then because we ended up playing the Lancer Senior League for Glen Mars L, like it was senior football so well. The matches are three o'clock on a Sunday, so you never get a chance to to follow League of World and football. And then it just passes you by. Then if you haven't got an interest at a certain night, and it's hard to get back to me, as you said, Conor, to go back to being interested. But um, like you know, it is getting better. It is, yeah. And like that, putting a bit more money into it now, like like like like it was a bit dirt at one time and the stages went great and on and and and there wasn't many people gone. Now if you said the second corner Sean even to go to Shelburne game now or in in Shelburne and or to go to Tallinn out to see Sham Graves playing, whatever, it'd be hard to get tickets for it. Yeah, hard to get tickets, so which is a good thing. So maybe we should give it a go and and um give direct reviews on it. Like, yeah, because if you look at the League of Ireland, there's probably now just me, just a quick guess of file in League of Warland. So there's probably seven dozen teams in the League of Ireland in the good few of the last that night. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe we will maybe we'll add maybe people like didn't might uh say that would be like if you want to add five or ten minutes or laps about it, we will do some of that because that's I've been looking at just through Instagram and all in the amount of crackers. I thought, oh, oh, the last two weeks, let's say, people put in the top corner from all mad angles again. Yeah, man, I've obviously probably all heard of me. Grey and book is not Sean McRovers, it's his left foot straight into the top corner. Was it him you played against? Er no, no, no. He's a rover's years, him, isn't he? Well maybe it was. I think it was. I don't know. Could it be could it be too clever? I'm not too sure. I don't know. I think he might be a couple of years. He'd be young mate. Yeah, he's yeah, yeah. He's in around my age, I think so. I don't know, I don't think. Maybe it does look familiar, but no, anyway, um yeah, it's a couple of leading crackers there was from Galway and all really cool. So yeah, I think so. I think we will look something to that we'll make a business to do it. Thanks for that, Michael. Yeah, yeah. Um ask Michael if you get a chance, Sean. But just for curiosity, just say Michael's asking what League of Warning does he does he does he follow? Yeah, I will. So then we just shows we can get straight tickets. We can just have something there. Um that was that that was a big one. Yeah, um James, it would be welcome back, Marcus Rashford. No, no. How can 350 grand a week to play football? How's that tough? Oh, it's going backwards, I think. Got it, James. It wouldn't be Marcelone to play hardball with a deal, you might have to go back and say trying to be united, but you don't want them. And do you know what? It's an insult that they can pay 60 million for an Anthony Gordon and only offer half the pre-price at United, looking for 13 million. No matter what he is, he's woke more than 13 million. He scored 14 goals and uh and got 14 assists, that's 28 apart for goals of Marcel and they're only offering 13 million. No, let them stand alone if the wolf comes to wolves because at least he'd be paying all his wages. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Like so, the United paying any of his wages and get a fee. Cover the wages, yeah. Yeah, do you know what I mean? It's going back, it's always a shame I always say he's a good footballer, but he's his head's not in it. He doesn't want to play. Going back, could you imagine the scrutiny on him? Yeah. Now if it was it was like that before, oh that'd be emphasised even more now. It's like going back to what we said ten minutes ago. If if this was for a Barmont or this was for a Crystal Palace, or this was for Coventry, fair enough. It passed it passed by because it's Man United. Could you imagine the scrutiny? Yeah, lovely thanks for that, James. I think I think he's a Rashford fan though, so I don't know if that's a good thing. And you can be a reference out with Barcelona. Yeah, true, yeah. He wants to play with Barcelona. That's it. Um will West Ham be safe if City are found guilty from Daniel. Yeah, of course, you will. Well I don't know, will you? I don't, I don't, I just think about it. I thought of thinking, is it? They might take if they were to take points out it might be to start the next thing. Because you're going to think you're going to a different company though, yeah. In a way, it's it's it's a different. I know it's the Premier League, but it's the championship. Yeah. And it's it's different rules and all there, it's different heads of bodies, heads. Yeah, that's a bad that's a terrible terrible English heads of bodies. No, no, that the there's different governing bodies for both of them. They're not all the same one. No, but you know what it is. So I don't think you can do that. Season tickets and all of no the league is already done in Dusty. Like, no, do you know what it is? No, they can't change leagues. Yeah, and I know that for a fact that that's that that's the rule, right? Like, um, this is already done in Dusty, so they can't matter about this season. But what they can do is they can deduct them 80 points from next season. 80. Just say it could be between 60 and 100, that's what they're saying. Just say, so just say go in the middle and say 80. So they start that rate of points next year in the premiership, so which means they're nearly guaranteed to go down by the getting like 110 points, which is unforced, you know what I mean? Yeah, so you could imagine they go down, but then if if they would if it was real that they could get deducted and go straight down, so then all the teams saying that like that they played against in cup finals and all this and all. Like it like it all it it took the fan big time, yeah. But if it was a different government body for the Premier League, and this is what they come up with, and they used outside, it's not only the Premier Ship, they used outside the arbitration to do all this and all. And what happened there is um they'll just deduct them. West Ham are in the championship the championship next week, and the battery happens, and then and Man City is are in the Premier League, and the fixtures are coming out on the 16th of June, just say right, and but they but but you know what? They'll appeal it and they'll go up another couple of years either way. But just say it didn't, whenever it happens, they'll be starting off just sort of points deduction. Yeah, that's it. Fair enough. Definitely um there's another mark right into this again, um another quiz you can take. It's too probably too long, obviously way too long to do it now, but something you can have a go at home. Um right, I haven't done it myself. No, not yet, but I'm going to. Um World Cup quiz. So it's on I think it's on the BBC website, you can have a look at it. Uh name, can you name every team that has ever taken part in at a World Cup? Alright. That'd be good to do with it. Now there's 91 teams to give people it, I think. Fair enough. That'll take a while. Just fair enough. We can't do it on here, like it's too hard. You're right, they'll do ourselves like a few points. Yeah, yeah, you need to put your head together. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, that's a good question there. You know, you have a question for us? Yeah, do yeah, that's all yours, Stone. Yeah, no, it's already. Just because the season is over. I know if you did our predictions last year, we'll do them again over the new season. Straight off the bat, what's the sort of topic that you think will happen next season or a points that you think will happen? Could be controversial, could be as straightforward as I think Arsenal will delay, but I think I've only thrown out a spanning overlook, sorry. And Sean is going to like this. Right? At the end of next season, their tether will get sacked. I don't think they'll go any further than they won a bad league this year. Now John, it's not you kind of probably robbing your own. No, it wasn't actually no. Just on the spur of the moment just say, right, because it like managers are getting sacked left right and send down. He says seven years, right. Now in Fairness, they were the best team like fairness. They won the league this year, right? They bullied away in a lot of games from Connors all, and it wasn't a nice way to win the league to say, right. But I don't think they get away with that next year, and I think they were could struggle next year, and I think that's what Industry's gonna be out there. I think our tetra will um be sacked um next season. Yeah. Travel out there, I don't care. Yeah, why not? I don't know, it's hard on the thing. No, but then we're also thinking United might make a Champions League semi-final. We're gonna go with that one. I think United goes Champions League semi-final. Yeah, but look at where it's just a good question, but it's just a spore of the moment. United's the Champions League final, yeah. Final championship is you I'm at the throw debate. Well if we get the same run as Arsenal got them definitely. True, yeah. Uh I'm gonna say Everton are gonna get relegated. Oh Jesus. Yeah, to me, you were saying that last week, something not to get relegated, but when we watched them playing, they were terrible, didn't he? Brutal. And you were saying if you don't get they don't get the recruitment right to show up front, they're very bad up front, didn't he? Everything. And they could lose players as well. The garment could leave, your man and joy could leave. Yeah, the defences get a bit older. Moise is still there. Do you know what? I hope we're all right. True, yeah. Yeah, but that's a couple of other questions there. I'll keep him for next week as well. Just general questions, yeah. And then what do you think? I only heard only today as well. Conte Antonio Conte's done out Napoli as well. Yeah, and I believe um Kevin De Bruyne is delight because he didn't like him as well. What's going on? Yeah, he said he didn't know what we did to play the players and the systems on, and he had him playing a different yeah, but he was very injured this year as well, but when he was playing, he should he could didn't know what was Conte was leading sailing on that, though.
