We have returned. The lads are back from their holidays with plenty of football news and transfer news to catch up on over the past few weeks. From an underwhelming Man United transfer window, to two £117 million pound transfers we look back on the big transfers and rumours from the past 2 weeks. We gave our opinion on the World Cup and if we enjoyed or disliked it overall. A bit of news about our future plans and then questions from the listeners to finish off.

SPEAKER_03

Welcome back everyone, episode forty-seven, Lads in the Sideline Podcast. It's me, as always, joined by brother Shell. Welcome back everyone.

SPEAKER_02

And our father Vino. Oh welcome back everybody. We missed doing it, so it's welcome to y'all back. That's it. Yeah, for the regular people listening, we took a two-week break.

SPEAKER_03

Some people went on holidays. So we said we take a break, come back fresh and start off again. And for people that are new, listen to us, welcome.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, very welcome, yeah. Come on. Look, we enjoy the holidays. Nice break. Yeah, it was a great break. I mean, thank you, the song. Thank you, the shaning of fishy drinks and thank you. But look at where you take a break in that day. But only may it say that you're it's two weeks near the leg's starting. And then like we got a break from this, but we missed doing this, so we're looking forward to starting again and hope to this is enjoyed again and keep listening. Yeah, that's it. Absolutely, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but look at the break was a great break. What do you think, Sean? Yeah, great, bro. It's brilliant, yeah. Got talking to loads of people on holidays, you know, all the football fans and stuff, so it was good. Just mentioning having a chat about this as well. And over the few wishes. Well uh listen, he said so. Um good points people brought up as well, and we can talk about that as as we go along with you. Yeah, come here. Interesting things about what certain people have sort of said a lot of Chelsea fans you were speaking to, mostly like that guy Santos. Oh yeah, yeah. Well, Mr. Bunfell, in particular, he was raging that he you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he was funneled that night, wasn't he? Remember, he was talking to you, but obviously, because you were talking about I was there, obviously listening, trying to listen, you know what I mean. But um you could see the expression on his face when he was getting very sorry. He had the angry face on, didn't he? That he did Chelsea let him go. Yeah finally.

SPEAKER_03

He could understand that he wanted more football, but sending them to United were so cheap and well, we think it's expensive, but in football terms now you said he should have got more out, and he's just he thinks he's going to be a hit at United. He wasn't just saying that to be nice, he was he was dead serious, he wasn't wanting to mince his words to be fine.

SPEAKER_02

Look, do you know it'd be like we United let one of the really good prospects go just say right? But go on to a rival. You'll only strengthen that team, you would be thinking, and then you're and you're disrengthening your own team and because I don't I don't know much about them to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

No, neither do I.

SPEAKER_03

He's very good, yeah. He's one of these players that I'm sure we would have mentioned it at some stage last season. You don't even know who he is. No, I didn't know who he was.

SPEAKER_02

He didn't know who he was. We linked to everybody, you didn't link to Marble players to Man United and then they're buying more at the spent over 300 minute, didn't he? Oh, stop it.

SPEAKER_03

They're not in they're not in any work at all. No.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I suppose that look at that leads us on. We we usually kick off our nose, but we'll start with the transfer nose. Because obviously we missed the two weeks, there's an awful lot of it. I mean stick with Sheltie. So he signed Rogers 117 million pounds. Crazy, isn't it? Yeah. No, there's a phase nowadays this season are ridiculous, isn't it? Too much.

SPEAKER_00

117 million pounds for him.

SPEAKER_03

Makes you wonder. I know he's not right in the centre of midfield, but I think Anderson, for example. Yeah. How much would the likes of Gerard Lampard Kane be? Genuinely nowadays. 400 million. Like in comparison, they would be. Four times, five times the player. I know that sounds a bit crazy, but 179 million for Margaret, Morgan Rogers is crazy. Crazy. He's a good player. But if you would have signed for a 60 or 70, you would have been like, alright, fair enough.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah. For 150 million and he's 22.

SPEAKER_03

Scores as well, didn't it? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Spores a man city, yeah. Yeah, you know what I mean? So for um 170 million, like like to put it this way, if you'd have been United, I don't think he'd fit into United. But we raiding if you spent 170 million on him. Yeah. When you when there was roomers as well, wouldn't it? He always got room as to say, right? But like I'd rather they spend that on on a proper midfield after replace Casemiro. He probably fits healthy on the left side, don't he?

SPEAKER_03

Like they treated the back and all yeah. So you'd like you have to try and squeeze it to handle them. And like you said, there's only what one game a week for them, so having to keep it. They could be dangerous, yeah. Oh, they will. You could be dangerous. They mentioned sports won't finish what they did last season. No, not at hope. And they're they're not finished because they're they haven't signed them yet, Emma Lacroix from Palace. So in the back, it's another 50 million, they think that's too much on him. And then they're talking to Alex Scott now as well, so that could be another 80 million. So I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Link to Henderson as well in the middle. Probably Faffrey, I'm I'd imagine then it'll it'd probably be Wellbeck.

SPEAKER_03

They're the last two bits of Chelsea Chelsea, yeah. Danny Wellbeck and Jordan Henderson couldn't as well look at those well, like yeah. So I don't know. No, fairness, like we always said you wouldn't you'd take Wellbeck as a backup striker. You would have. So we we said that the other thing is who is Chelsea's striker? Joe Petro isn't. Joe Petro, yeah. And he's not like he's not a he's not gonna get you 40 goals a season, I think, isn't he? He's not an out and out sort of striker. He sort of reminds you when you play Cunny up front, isn't it? He's yeah, maybe obviously better as a striker, but he's well Wellbeck holds onto the ball now, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_02

And he runs a channel, he's a good player still well beck for his age, isn't he? You still have the lap as well, don't you? Oh the lap as well, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So look, yeah. You should go back to Ipswich at all or something for the season. In fairness. Er Right, next team, Arsenal. Er this is a bit of a strange one. They signed your man Meslier from Leeds as a backup goal goalkeeper for free. Don't know where that one came from, it sort of a bit out of the blue. Um they're looking at centre halves now because the leave it is out injured and Marino with the licks, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a back injury, so no, Christmas, but I think you see him again.

SPEAKER_03

Um Guma Royce they're talking to him still. He said he wants to go to Arsenal, so it's that's what you want to those tricky ones that's losing to Narley and God knows who else they're gonna lose. 75 million pounds, isn't it? That's what they're looking for. Yeah, it's gonna afford it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it'd be a good edition.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think it's fine. And then what would be considered their biggest sign of somewhere if it was to go through um Vinicius Jr. We were talking about that, weren't we?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I think he's staying at Madrid.

SPEAKER_03

He's saying out there and now he wants a new contract or something, isn't he? Yeah, 20 million a year he wants 500 grand a week or something. I think that's 550 or that makes sense with it. Yeah, probably yeah. No, no, he paid that wasn't mad money, didn't you? You know, I'm young when you were shy. Yeah. So doubtless he could afford to pay him as wages now, but I've seen Mark Albert, he put out a video out there and said it's it's not going through. Yeah, it's gone to stay. Madrid are gonna find out a contract.

SPEAKER_02

Look, you won't sustain, you just won't. I'm no joking on little Arsenal in the league last year. But you're gonna put Real Madrid to Arsenal, come on, it's a big fucking step down. Don't care what anything says. Yeah, you know what I mean. If you've gone to Real Real Madrid to Man United, it's not a step down, it's a step down in 10 until United get better again. But it's not a step down in club. No, if you know what I mean, if that makes any sense. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

You're an attacker player like him. Why would you want to play for a team with that that doesn't attack?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, well, you know, have to defend more. Yeah, no, he won't. And he won't, you're dead, right? He's not the type of player to do that. I was hoping he would have signed it. But are they using Arsenal like people use United and all just to bump the wages up and down and get the contract and all these ages and sow things out there and all for that, don't they?

SPEAKER_03

But that's Morgan Rogers and him snubbing Arsenal. Yeah, great to see.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, strange, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03

Well, where would you want to go to a team that's anti-football? Based off last year anyway. Yeah, very true, eh? Um Right, next team, Tottenham as per usual. Well, Tony sort of won going out, and it's Romero came out to say that we already have it yesterday, isn't it? He's c he came out and said that he's still leaving Spores this summer. Um players in teams about him, he's a good centre half, isn't he? Yeah, a bit of a head case, isn't he? If he kept his head, he's a one of the best ones going, isn't it? Yeah, somebody's in the only type players. Definitely, yeah. But I could be honest, I only said it to you yesterday. I think Sports signed the two lads in the midfield. Sort of has everybody thinking, oh, here we go. But is Van Heeke better than Romero that they're signing? I don't think he is, I think. No, I wouldn't say so. So like you'd have him and Van De Ven set the half. Van De Venn's prompt with an injury and all, like the two lads in the middle. Like you you you only said yes, he's now finale. So something a bit dodgy going on there with him signing Bathoras Tottenham and deserved to be an Italian and all, like, and why do you all sign him as sports? Like he he was done by bet months, like you know what I mean. Like why would Tanani go to sports? It's such a w weirdo not just direct to sports, but that shit. Yeah, that'll be closer. That's a level with Newcastle, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. He could play running with field on in Lord, more than everything. Why are you going to sports, you might think? Yeah. Honestly, it might be something behind it. I'm want to be a sports fan, he's got it. If he's I'm not gonna say anything if he was going to United that he's a United fan. Yeah, but he would portray that. He'd be he'd buy into it. If you get there, you'd feel the atmosphere, you feel the passion, but sports are not that club.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, yeah, Anderson's giving me his interview there a while ago, and he's he's he's his his hair growing up was um Kevin De Brian. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, Kevin De Brian, but well he is only 23, so he we could he could be watching him. Probably is but like so you can't knock him by saying that, but in that go to show where City is compared to United, is all all through it.

SPEAKER_03

He wouldn't contend when the United won the league last year wouldn't remember that.

SPEAKER_02

No, so he can't really knock him, you know. But like as you said, Tanali is older now and on, and then he's gone to Spurs League. What would you say in sports? So it's it's it's it's it's it's not thinking that you're gonna win the league and winning the cups.

SPEAKER_03

It's money, definitely. But that's not enough. Like that's the that's just his last biggest move now.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, is that what it'll be? What age is he? He's 26 or something, 27, is he? Tonali. Last move. I think he's 26, then he was the year five till you told you on. Yeah, you wouldn't be getting much more out of that.

SPEAKER_03

We're going to say then or something like that. Absolutely. We've got back to them. Yeah, even like Fernandez, 85 million, that's mental. Yeah, it is mental. Yeah, really. He got relegated twice and again he ended on sports. There's a reason for this, isn't it? There is a very strange. Right, next team, Aston Villa. Couple of ins and outs. Uh we'd go with the ones that are out forced because it'll lead into United a bit. Uh so Dean has gone to PSG. Ten million. Yeah, a bit of a steal. In fairness, yeah. Steady fullback, isn't it? I think if you see him drawing the World Cup or fancy, you could tell that he's like a level below. But he's still a good left back like steady. You wouldn't be naming ten that are better than him in the world nowadays, I don't think, in fairness, like it's only the French league, as well. I know it's obvious leagues they want again, but he'd be a good left, one of the best left backs in the league.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it'd be an easy league.

SPEAKER_03

It should be an easy league for him to play in, yeah. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Um then Teelemans. Obviously, he's gone to United. Um we've gone on to the United once now in a few minutes to say, right? And then the only one that's getting linked with United a lot the last couple of days is Watkins. Yeah. So again, we'll touch on that in a second. So then the player's gone into Aston Villa, or me, Garnacho. It's gone down to Swanny, isn't it? He should say Sancho and Rashford all over again, isn't it? Yeah. Like. But at least I didn't even say Sancho, at least Rashford made it to a certain level.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Even talking about salary. I think he on with United's on 40 grand a week. He's only on 70. Granaccio? 70 or 70 or 80, 75 or 80, I think it is. He never even got to that level. No. And he fell off already. That goes to show you how he is.

SPEAKER_02

It's just down to his attitude because he proved he has the ability. He you can enter the Argentinian squad and all, and my messy and all was still there, obviously, just saying now, and he's not anywhere near it now. Because he's it's because he's spiraling fucking backwards.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You can see him in a few more years not even playing in England anymore, playing in not a stupid league, but go up here. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, and that's it. And that brood reliefs wouldn't help either, does he like that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, playing football in the garden with his new haircut and the stupid jeans and all that. Why isn't if you want to put video videos out because they have their personal brand, you had a shit season. You're an embarrassment. You must have known you're gonna go somewhere else, the chats don't want you. Why isn't he putting out training videos? Yeah, working hard, he's getting a lot of. He won the liga last year. Not saying he's back to his best rash for both.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he did think. Well at least he did it the right way. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's that's the I always talk about the on on field how good you are, and off the field how good you are as well. It's a mentality thing, isn't it? True, yeah. Er, two more players into Villa. The fourth one Estepin as a left back replacement for could actually be an upgrade nearly. That's Brighton. Brighton, wasn't it? Yeah, AC Milan used it. You went to AC Milan from Brighton. Oh right. That's a good sign from Milan. I was gonna say Villa must be in troll. Joe, I I there was one or two other players that they've signed, and I didn't put them on the list because I just don't know who they are. Yeah, well. I just don't know who they are.

SPEAKER_02

Like, look at the scouts in the job, so you don't know if you've lost Rogers, yeah, didn't you?

SPEAKER_03

Telemans. That's potentially Watkins, yeah. Yeah. And Martinez, possibly. Yeah, sure. Yeah, he's probably about to stand 11 goal. Yeah, yeah. And then the last one in, which is actually a good sort of shrewd sign in Joe Gomez from Wolves. Oh, yeah, yeah. This thing with Atletic Madrid sort of fell through. And that's a good sign that's a villain picked him up. Yeah, he might be able to him as every at one time again. Yeah, he'd be good. No, like that, he's sort of he sort of stood out on a bad team with Wolves. So it's easier to stand out on a bad team, like or like will he go in there and be with better players? Will he be able to play with better players? It's one of them, isn't it? Like a bit like Xerxy. Yeah. In Italy sort of looking good with who's Ud and Azy or whatever. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He goes for a better team, he just looks like he looks good against Rousenburg, or Johnny Rousenburg.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You step up.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like Joe Gomez is a bit more of a fancier name and all than John McGinn. But John McGinn's probably better player looking actually. But it's Premier League proven, I suppose, that's the only thing, isn't it? Um so I'll go to the the outs then, like you said, Thielmans and potentially Watkins United. What do you make of them to? If just say Watkins force if there was a potential. I'll take them United. 40 to 40, you mean the price.

SPEAKER_02

I take them definitely, yeah. We need another forward, can you?

SPEAKER_03

We definitely do. We can't be just relying on Telegram. Someone who was established, like I know Wellbeck would have been a good one, don't get me wrong. But Welbeck or Watkins, I think Watkins all day any day of the week, you know.

SPEAKER_02

He did a great season, he did well last season.

SPEAKER_03

Some people don't like him, but he he yeah, he does score goals. Yeah, you know what he is is uh he's he had to fight for a spot in the villa team, but he didn't play every week. So not saying he's used being on the bench, but then he's used to being on the bench in England and all. So if he went to United and he was second choice, it's not as if he's gonna be like, Oh, I'm not used to this, so not used to it. But if he wants to be first choice, he has to score a goal. And if Cesco doesn't, then that's just the way it is, yeah. He is a handful. He's quick, yeah. There's not many like that out there available for that kind of money at that level. Like, so do you want to be picking them up quickly? Get someone else, Bill. Yeah, and that's it. Arsenal picking him up or something.

SPEAKER_02

They lose loads of blaming players who were going with already like so. Do you want to start snapping everyone united? Start doing a bit of business.

SPEAKER_03

Tillemans was good, that was just a bit of a shock. Yeah, definitely. I didn't think they were going to buy over 26, that's why I never even thought of players like that. Yeah, but you wouldn't. It's great to see. You wouldn't think he'd be leaving that. No. No, that was a strange one. Yeah, he's a good footballer. I think you know if they want to obviously not want to play foot proper football, you you can silky on the ball and he can forward score a goal and he works hard, like you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he'd be very surprised. Like you know, he'd probably suit and fit into Man United really nice. He's actually a silky player, isn't he?

SPEAKER_03

He reminded me when he signed Ericsson. Yeah, he's where'd this come from? Yeah. But you just he suited well, didn't he? Like good football and good set places and stuff. Yeah, he's the fans actually can defend as well though. Yeah. Tealons, yeah. I think his stats are up there in the top five in the in the league, actually. He's an elegant captain and all, like 28, 29, tackle in the ball for five good years later. Yeah, absolutely. Why's he gone cold? That sort of takes us down to like obviously the Edison deal have got. Yeah, yeah. Well I'm glad you did that. I'm glad they done that because they don't get another injury-prone player, sorry, to warm the bench or warm the doctors off. It sounds like you're signing the best midfielder in the world, it's hard to let it slide. Yeah. Like you did with Van Listen, right? Remember, you know you sign him on, you're sort of injured and you'd be ready in a couple of weeks, blah blah blah.

SPEAKER_02

But no, you can't be that not and you know what you can't be doing that for for the position we need now in the middle of the park. You you need ready to go, 100% a mile players that are just ready for the Premier League. Yeah, that's it. You can't be buying fucking people that are crocs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No, absolutely not. But then that sort of takes us down on to I mentioned Darlock real quickly, backup goalkeeper, where we sort of needed it, isn't it? Yeah, I mean, there'll have you go. Yeah, yeah, you will. That's sort of back to Tokyo, it's that's sort of just that, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he playing the cups and yeah, if he does get injuries, it's not scores then that you got off in whatever, like yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So I have him now, Tyne and Thompson. I know nothing about him. No, no, Dodge are just hoping he's gonna be another heaven or another doggy or something and he comes out eventually. Like, but he's for a force name, isn't he? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, do you reckon he's good? Yeah, yeah. No, as like you said, Carnal Demeter on Holly, it's Camel De Blue, eight million for young like it's still a lot of money, does it? No matter what we look for it. Obviously, they must see something in them.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they must. And then the most money they spent so far then is Santos 50 million. I can't remember if he touched on it last time, but probably not.

SPEAKER_02

No, don't think he's had any sign to do then, like, no, the last time he was no, he was only signed when we were on holidays as well.

SPEAKER_03

So I don't know, like I'm only gonna buy what just Chelsea fan base to sign. Yeah, and not one I've looking through all the platforms and even I can't remember that guy's name, he has a channel, one of the more famous ones, um Chelsea. I think it's Blondie guy, yeah. Yeah, yeah. He wasn't a 20-minute video, and he's not happy at all. So none of them have a not one player's dull, or none of them happy, especially because he went they all knew he was gonna go because he wants forcing football, and let's be fair, he's not gonna get ahead of if you're one game a week, you're not gonna get less of an injury, but you're not gonna get ahead of Enzo Fernandez or Persejo, you just won't. No, and he's too and they're like I was saying on holidays, they he's good enough to start. Yeah, but it obviously he won't, so he doesn't just sell them to Man United, that's the biggest problem they all have.

SPEAKER_02

Well, look, he did it before, didn't he? Which is a good thing, Kevin O'Brien, didn't he? Like in and he was just saying he wouldn't get in there now. Yeah, and sadly thinking about going on and don't know what to make of it, that's the only way I can look at it. Yeah, look at them as you say.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you look at clips all they want, but it doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02

Look, we wouldn't have been look we wouldn't have been happy with this at the start. Because we wanted Elliot Anderson or we wanted the Tanali or just say Gummer or something like that. You know, we wanted like top like just that right, but we're there all starting to drift down the lot and they're signed with other people, you have to do something. So now are they gonna wait for telemans to come in now that not sign it and and because you signed the Madrid thing now and they're they're gonna get robbed, you know, and still waiting. No, you can't it's too much of a waiting game. You know what you want to go out and get your man Coney now, I think. Like that's what you really need to do. It is a waiting game.

SPEAKER_03

Roma have for the 31st of July. I think they need to sign, they need to sell them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and if you don't, you're not trying to get to get bleeding for labour.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, because what you have to go in now, they'll want I don't know what I think it's fifty million they're talking about, but they'll probably go in there second last day. There's 40. Take her or leave it. And they know they need the money. But it's risk, it's a good it's clever because it's not that far away, it's only a full of days. Yeah, well, look we've gotten the next three or four days. That means someone else will come in and do the same. We'll give you 60. That's what'll happen, you know. That's you're just it's it's a risk. Yeah. Well, if it works out and he plays like that, well then I will take a hat off him, but he needs to sign someone now. What had he waiting for? Well, yeah, if it comes to the end of it and Tumini's in and like it's just the order they're doing it. They just said he would have it would have been hard to run the World Cup, they just said you sign Tumini for Sasha B. Oh yeah. And then you get Santos, you're like, Aries. And then Team sort of comes in and you're like, Jesus, that's a true little smart sign at the end. Then you're sort of like Ari, yeah. Like you said, because it's getting dragged down when it's all over the gap. Yeah. So now the only thing I've I've watched a man santos twice now, the first two preseason games. He'll intercept the ball and he'll get in stuck in, yeah. And he'll he's not afraid to pass the all forward. Well, apart from that, I don't know. Yeah, so friendly matches like John. Yeah, it's our chance, aren't you? I know he signed a new contract, but supposedly Rodri directly. Rodri wants to go, I think, too. He wants to go back to Madrid. He was with Atletico, that's very signer for Madrid, wasn't it? Jesus Christ. Yeah. Yeah. And then the last one, again, rumours the last couple of days have sort of heated up a bit his hall to United. I don't know what they're waiting for. Telling about him a lot now, too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we need a new left back. Luke Shaw's gonna get injured straight away. See, it all depends on his contract with um with Newcastle, doesn't it? He has to show you his head in his contract, he just might want to let him go. Yeah, even if he puts in a request and all that, you might sort of say, Can 70 minutes playing, that's it.

SPEAKER_03

That's what we can take. You need a new left back. What happens if Shaw gets under you put Dorgo there? Who we got left wing then? Yeah, no. It's too risky.

SPEAKER_00

No, Dorgo as well. Left wing as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but the left winger. That's what he is. He's not a left back. You know what's going to happen then? You're switch bleeding to lower back over or playing as well. You want the natural left wing. You want him there to haul for ten years. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And that's it.

SPEAKER_02

Because they did with Shot.

SPEAKER_03

The teams around are strengthening so much. Like I said, Chelsea and Spurs are gonna. I think they're well not both of them. Definitely might maybe Chelsea, they're gonna take one of the top five spots. Yeah. Well they don't we don't want to be the team thing to figure out. But Arsenal don't need to improve too much. No. City are improving. Yeah. Just say, no, if they lose Rodri, it's a big loss. If they're in this banana silver, it's up as a big loss and whatnot, so. Maybe they might have to look over it. Maybe the foul sign and Elliot Anderson might be a bit of a brushing over the leading crack sort of thing. And I don't think it's talked about enough. Pep where the Ola leave and I think it's gonna be detrimental. Maybe they could drop out like you. I think they will.

SPEAKER_02

That has a rule too, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_03

And that brings us on to Liverpool. So the one that Liverpool knows is Barcola. So it's what's the man saying from the Athletic? Yeah. For Barcola, which is a Hundred Aja. So again, a bit like Vinicius Jr., like good players, but is he world class? Like the only two times I watch him is the two finals. He'd give Cole Walker a race, I'd give him that, but I don't know. You get that sense from someone if they're gonna be like really, really good at it. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Or what but is your left winger to replace Salah? Is that what it is for them? And he's a left winger that's right footed. Well you wouldn't know they can't. But you need to replace Sally, don't you mean weirdo, right?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, my good feeling about him is that he'd be he could be a bit like Vert and he could be a bit too weak. People get stuck into him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Hopefully he'll go a bit missing. Now it could be wrong and he could be clear that you hear him, whatnot, but um the reason they go by him is because they were linked to Diamande, who was supposed to be going to PSG, but who's now going to Real Madrid.

SPEAKER_02

They don't need to stand down players to get a feel about them, don't they? Yeah, because they won none, haven't they? The last couple of years look so Real Madrid.

SPEAKER_03

No, they haven't been league. I'm they didn't win the trophy last year.

SPEAKER_00

No. Mourinho is going all out to win as much as he can.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. A couple of young lads then as well. Yeah. The last couple look just for the Leeds fans. Uh James Trafford has gone to them. 40 million from Man City. That's all keeping on record, isn't it? Yeah. Goalkeeping man. Goalkeeping.

SPEAKER_02

40 million just saying, but that's a gone right now, isn't it? That's what I'm saying. You know, you're gonna start spending a few bucks. But 40 million never but you used to go.

SPEAKER_03

Savinio gone somewhere from Man City. Yeah, I saw that, yeah. No, well they're talking about CD Spores tried to sign him years ago before C did. So that wouldn't be mad. Man City, yeah. Oh he I don't know what the clubs were. But they bought them through their own system at a very, very low low ball price. Oh yeah, yeah. And through the sister, sister clubs party. I think it was France, was it? France, yeah. Yeah, we're because it's the same with Chelsea. Chelsea owned Strasbourg. Yeah, that's where Santos and all came from. It cost them like 12 million or 17 million and they want to sell them for 50. Yeah. That's just their own. Well, it's cost 12 million to themselves. Yeah, exactly. It's weird. It's mad situation. It's clever, don't get me wrong. Anyway, 301. Uh and then the last two, Greenwood, he's gone to Fenabachia, so United got a bit of a 10 million out there. 10 million from that link. Um and then the last one. Now I know some face this year are a joke. Oh Somerville has gone to Al Halal for 80 million. So I'm not surprised United walking away with the deals again. Yeah, that's fair. That's a joke. They got to get 160 million from two relegated players, West Ham. That's hard, isn't it? The bowl is staying, the manager is staying, so they're just gonna bounce straight back up and you'd be very surprised if you didn't.

SPEAKER_02

Like that would be a shock to that league, and now they can come straight back up. Yeah, yeah. Bowman staying is a big bonus for them. Yeah, it is, yeah. Now stand with them to say, right, he's loyal. Yeah. That's what you want, isn't it? Good player, could have gone to any of the top. United could have taken him, you know, looks like any football top, he's a good fucking player, scored, and he stammered them in uh being relatively. I'll be honest. Yeah, it's good because loyal loyalty, you don't see a lot of it. The salary would have gone down as well, it's an ST. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Threw it into his contract, I think he's gonna keep our money.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, or else maybe you signed a new contracts, they'll look all stabs, but you need to pay pay the money that would be doing it.

SPEAKER_03

But if they win the league next year, they'll they've got a hundred million now. Yeah, it's but they lose money this year, also TV rights and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, definitely, yeah. Um, that's all the transfer news. So just quickly then on actual football news. Three international managers Zedan has gone to France, Klopp has gone to Germany, and Mancini's gone to Italy. I actually think that's great. So I think that's good. Good for Argentina might get a bit. Good for football, a bit more interesting. Well, we know they like to clean and all there, isn't it? Yeah, that was a shit World Cup. It's just the it's just the same, like I said the last time. Like the international managers that come from the clubs, don't seem to do well, do they? Like you look at Argentina and Spain. I think you look at every time managers wouldn't get a job for any of the clubs. No, you wouldn't take them.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I mean? No, like they suit international football from the better, you know that way. Like so, but look at Kamar, Tessman Shane, he did that before, and that's his 60s second time somewhere it's like yeah, he won the Euros with them the last time in England like um carrying a bleeding terrible mess out with donkeys used to say the night like for for a such a big country for football to say how good you were in one more clubs and all.

SPEAKER_00

But they'd miss the last three, haven't they?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Do you won a Euros or something, didn't you? There a few days, whatever it was and and put it out of out for World Cup football like Italy, they're shambles, isn't it? Yeah. By their standards. No, they need to reboot altogether, don't they?

SPEAKER_03

Definitely they do. I'd say where wherever you are in the rankings, I'd say they're outside of the top twenty nearly because you have to be. Brazil would be careful, they're just talk thinking about talking about teams that are traditionally good, famously good, like Brazil.

SPEAKER_02

It's proof, so like football. We're talking about the premiership, we're then talking about Europe because we can look at the Champions League and all that, and how bad that was to say, right? And then we're at the watch on the World Cup, and that was one of the worst ones of football. Yeah. So you didn't no one can say to tell me or tell us now that we but that we're not speaking the truth when we're saying that the standard football is gone now and we'll rap it.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe as well, the naturally gifted footballers are playing on the sand and playing with no shoes and all on.

SPEAKER_03

I was watching one of the matches, and it's one of my friends texts in our group we have, said when's the last time you seen on these Brazilian players do a step over? Yeah, where there was some flair. No, there were anything. The bleeding soccer tears, it wasn't even just them, and the soccer is gone. Gosn't it? It's all this European possession-based positional show, isn't it? Oh, it's exciting players for people you never heard of, like your man Lopez at the back and all. He got into the team of the team of the tournament. Yeah, good. And the half Shamrack Rovers. But like the likes of who was even Jamal, maybe he had glimpses of the good player. Yeah, it wasn't outstanding, outstanding like when Rimmy was a bigger one. And in back to fairness, you know, it's a battery tournament, Jeff. Like that's how so it goes to like just getting off topic in it for a quick second, but Guardiola did well with Barcelona, obviously. Where you look at anybody probably could have just say with City, he obviously did very well. So has he made football better or has he has he made football worse? Because everybody plays his way now. Whereas like years ago, I think a quick attack on football, and he played the way all these like when United used to play in an arsenal years ago, Chelsea is like direct and attack, attack, attack, just to get the ball out wide, go forward, simple as that.

SPEAKER_02

Hold on the mile an hour, two center forwards. Yeah, do you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

Like far, far, two or three and definitely. Like you like Spain won the World Cup, probably deservedly so, playing football. But they weren't brilliant, they were just offensively very good.

SPEAKER_02

Brilliant, yeah, like they like the players.

SPEAKER_03

They'd be destroyed by the 2018. Not one of them players again, Barrett Rodri. Yeah, and he'd be on the bench, yeah. If even, but he got in ahead of Alonso.

SPEAKER_02

No. No. I don't think he would. He knows as good as he is, he's good as for for for for today's era. Getting into teams like obvious, just like but as you say, if you're talking about that 2018 with the league than Barcelona players and Rodrigo. That's a midfield three, like there's not a big old there nowadays. No, no. We cleaned up the oats, maybe that's about it. But that's it though, isn't it? Who would you squeeze into them? Fairness.

SPEAKER_03

Er bit of refereeing it was Anthony Taylor, he's retired. No, he's retired now, isn't it? Fuck. That's the one hoxy referee he got in the league, isn't it? Yeah, yeah. Ah, yeah. That's it. Oliver, Michael Oliver be gone next season. He'd be gone next year, you know. Bit of fucking sad news in you you usually give the album. Mark sad news out. You go you know more than we wouldn't.

SPEAKER_02

Oh look, you know what? He played look Kevin Keegan, whatever you find with there, and you were gonna say that to say we heard that we were on holidays, which is sad. Look, he was only 75, and I know he was he got sick to say. But now you look here, Liverpool fans that know him really well to say I put it this way, you know. And remember, he's the only he's the only one that ever won um English players that won two battle doors. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Fans didn't won them when he was a handbook. Do you know what I mean? Like, yeah, yeah. Like he he played really well when he was at Liverpool, like and he scored a lot of goals and scored a lot of goals for England and all, and he was really good. But he won all this stuff in the eighties with Liverpool or Yeah, in the 70s. In the 70s, more so like with them just say right, and then with England, obviously just say right, but but look, he was a great little player, fans. But he played for South Hampton and he Newcastle, he managed Newcastle, isn't it? And that's the famous thing, isn't it? Yeah. We love it if we beat him, yeah. That's how you remember that's like you look you look at just say even talk about Bannon Doris and say only four English people ever won it, and he won two of them, you know what I mean? Like like my friends like that, yeah. So he was this year. Well, there's three like look, there was three and right players like one of like shooter years, just say like fucking Dennis Lawrence, obviously Bobby Chant and um Ronaldo. Um three English players, as well. Yeah, that's what I think, three English players, right? Was Dennis Law, right? Michael Almond, yeah. Michael Almond as well, and they've gone back years with Stanley Matches won it. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Like, but Kevin McKay was only like one of them he was the only English players that won to it twice. So I mean it really was good. So like 75 was very young still, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03

Especially back then, like obviously you had Liverpool with obviously one of the best teams, but I'm sure Madrid and Arsenal and all were still they tend to just favour those teams, don't they? All those awards, like I mean, like a letter.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, didn't you like yeah?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But look, like in fairness to to to anybody that like was obviously sad because he passed away, like we give back and don't obviously, like, especially like Liverpool fans of my age would would would know him, and like like if you if a death happened to somebody that I knew played football man, yeah, you'd feel sad. Like it's like 75 now is no age.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not.

SPEAKER_03

It didn't seem that long ago we heard you, he was sick, wasn't it? Maybe he might have been sick longer than that, but yeah, no, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I believe he was sick, but it did happen quickly. Like when it came up when we when we were on the holidays, we heard you died. We said, well it was like it was it was suddenly so and so it was a sad occasion for football, not the bottom you look at. Look, he was English, so especially for English football.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think. Uh last few bits then uh we wanted to just because I walked with two people from this neck of the woods. Uh you were watching the match the week, I'm early all Mayo. Of course, it's broke now, 75 years. So two of the lads in the job are from there, so they were against Gaelic football for any little outside. Uh the national sport, yeah. Uh they didn't come to work Monday, so we watched it, didn't we? Had a little bet and all we actually backed them, didn't we?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, because yeah, we lost it by one point, didn't we? Yeah, four or five or six and they won by three. Well, it was hard looked like in fans. Like at the end, the fight man was gonna pass at the end and score. But look at me. I was glad you won anyway in the end. Oh yeah, for the place, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And then last bit then sort of ties in then with the World Cup, which we can touch on. Um so Sean won our predictions league for that season. I'll explain about that too. So last year we we we predicted our sort of what was it, the whole fixed whole league campaign, wasn't it? Like the whole uh the whole league. We predicted the winners of the Champions League. That's they're not sneeze in the background there. Get that out the Champions League Running Lammy Bob The Champions League winners, FA Cup winners, league cup winners, who's gonna be the player of the year, who's gonna win the World Cup top score, all these sorts of things. Um and it came down to Sean won it in the end. Week to week then, isn't it? Yeah, week to week then we did a um we all gave our I'll do it again this year. Sick the fixtures up and uh what we think the fixtures are gonna be. You get a point if you get a correct fucking result, and you get two points for the score. Well Sean won it, thought it would be easy enough in the end. But then it came down to me a vinno for the World Cup. So you were behind by like two points or something or whatever, was it a point even? So you had Argentina to win the World Cup. And I basically had everyone else like and uh obviously I put Spain down to win and he did win. Yeah, you had Vinno came towards. We're not gonna say last because it doesn't sound great, but we know it came towards. So me and Vinno o's on a new United jersey. I'll take the blue one, thank size large, thank you. And Vinno is gonna have to don a Leeds jersey and we get the bowl in a picture down for our old Instagram and we'll stick the picture to pair them up on Instagram or force in the flames and all that jersey get disease off, get a rash you will be.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the colour run off me.

SPEAKER_03

So if there's anybody out there that has a Leeds jersey, do you want to donate for a picture? Send us in a text and we'll organise getting out of here. Yeah, yeah, give me a shower. I'm surprised you're but you'd probably run.

SPEAKER_01

I'd have a lot of jerseys than the Liverpool, would you? Without a doubt, yeah. It's like Mary and Liverpool. No, we said leads.

SPEAKER_03

He can play Leeds because he thought we were going to lead Leeds jersey. Very good, pretty much. Well, yeah, so that'll uh that'll be up again the next year, we do what's saying. Oh yeah, use one we usually wear in the next year. And then we planned to set up a little fantasy football as well, don't we? As well, Sean's more into that to me. I usually give up after three weeks, but I'll keep it going for this. You know what I mean? So we'll tell you what was it? Top sounds mad, sounds that not that great, but I think it's top 20,000 in the in the world. Oh really? Yeah, last year, yeah. You didn't. Oh well, that's good, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Eventually you have to get the cameras on you as well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was wrong about that. Um over the next couple of weeks we're gonna have a little look into it and potentially go down that route and see our faces. Oh my god. See what is uh speaking see what people think of that. Yeah, yeah, actually I guess it's still up on Spotify, it's up like normal, but many people would look at us on YouTube. It it it just for us, obviously being United fans, we might have more United content on YouTube, like we'd still do our podcasts and they'd be playing twice a week, you know, as well. Yeah, so it means if they're playing in the Champions League on a Wednesday, we could jump on straight after for twenty minutes. Yeah, busy lives as well. Like obviously life gets in the way too, so it'd be nice to just not have to you just do it from your room or yeah, do it from your room on the laptop if each it'd be handy. So just look at if people have any feedback or what they think or if they watch it, let us know.

SPEAKER_02

Of course, yeah, it'd be nice to hear you. Usually here, Sean, and the comments. Sean, you hear your questions, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So that's sort of the plans going forward, anyway, isn't it?

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, we'd be still doing our our weekly thing anyway. Oh, we still do a weekly podcast and we're enjoying that. Like that never stops. No, okay. That's where we start.

SPEAKER_03

Now the content might be different, obviously, if it's video and this related to what's got what's going on, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um you see three handsome men, that's what you know, and I'm gonna say that's it.

SPEAKER_03

So, before we get into Sean's questions, because you have a good feel, don't you, in fairness? Yeah. This podcast might be a bit longer than the last couple, but that's just the way it is. Obviously, taking a break. Oh, right, the World Cup quickly, five minutes on it. It's nice to ask questions about the World Cups. I'll do it. No, not about just they've all said it and think, what do you think of the World Cup? Um, we got all your questions because plenty of people like wrote in, so I'm gonna take it all back. I'm not gonna just like toward you. People the same question. So you this will answer all these questions. What do you think of the World Cup? It's basically what they've all said. Okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right and saying you shoot fat. Yeah. I thought it was too commercialised. Football was brutal, and I just thought it was too Americanised.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Even the halftime, like I didn't even know Connor was on holidays, right? And you said this day, right? That was 27 minutes it took for the halftime before they came back on the second. I didn't even know that. All they're saying was fucking Madonna coming out with the car with two, two fat footballers, kidney football. Do you know what I mean? Right, right, and dancing and then all that. And I just said, that's too much. And if Trump up there now, it's just it's just security for Trump must have been immense as well. Just saying, I wonder 10 things were slow and not the game. No, it's like the present gets anyway. He's in with that Fastino, Catina Baldy Shy Back with the World Cup just there, right? And um, get more interesting in what the what your revenue like when you took a break and it's uh half time, the advertisements and all. I just thought the world came in general was just brutal.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that red card being rescinded and all the joke, yeah, yeah, bringing him up and all.

SPEAKER_02

I thought I was gonna start I'll tell you one positive thing about the World Cup, and this is the only thing I can say this positive where it was. I thought the referee was good. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In general, a lot of the mistakes always get mistakes, always getting a little bit of things here. Right, but what I'm gonna say is, I mean, what what I mean by that is like when players got injured and you fucking just hold them off the ground and they didn't not stop and all, and the the games were there definitely was more balls on the pitch playing as regards the time on the pitch and not more wasted time. And I thought that was good in the wood. Bring that into the premiership next year, yeah. I thought that was good in the woods and all. Good off the ground, there's nothing wrong with you, and all of that type. So I thought the referees that way took no messing. Yeah, that was the only generally the only thing I could say that were good that that was to me that was a positive.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I agree with that, yeah. The refereeing, um thought the quality football was terrible, brutal. Some of the some of the players did step back to their Mbappes and I I I enjoyed watching Alisa, he's a really good footballer.

SPEAKER_02

Hardy Kane and all that yeah, even Ireland, like in fans from all, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

But but as you say, in general, like I thought it was poor. I didn't like the I think I couldn't get into it at all. I know times of matches and all played a part in that, but it did for the first week there wasn't any good matches to watch. No. Really, as such, I'm not just saying that because Ireland were elbows, like we haven't said 2002, am I right? So that's not we're in it. So I've talked to some people on holidays as well, like, oh, you're just saying that because Ireland, but we're never in it. Like I think Ireland don't put money in Irish football, it's it's rugby and like the G A Orland, that's where that's yeah, not excuse, just the truth. Um but I thought it was terrible. That was the worst World Cup I've ever seen, yeah. To be honest, and that was one of the worst finals I've ever seen. I know you know what always said the world a light, but that was awful. Argentina were brutal. I said not to Spain, they were a very good team. They won the ball back for me. We noticed that they win the ball back very, very good as a team, yeah, which makes it very hard for you to keep get any momentum. Like they only conceded five shots on target or something, six shots on target for a whole position, or was it? I saw it today. I think it was like ten. Ten something that's crazy. Yeah, and it was two in the last two minutes against Argentina because they put a little bit of a rush on. Yeah. So up and up until extra time up until the line only had eight shots on target. That's really good down fairly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they were doing a good team league. Couldn't get into a tall, they didn't enjoy it. They might actually follow England and France league, but now we didn't see them. Now we know they changed teams and all of that. But it's an entertainment game with that that was probably the most entertaining game, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03

I didn't like the water breaks. Maybe have no, I didn't like it at all. Like, did they need it overall? Not in all the matches. Not in all the matches. It should have been selective, I think. But if you'd noticed it, it was just another 20 minutes to putting that up. It was important, it's a team talk, a coaching session. Yeah, and even talking that I was looking at some of the American, I don't know a lot of American listeners, so thanks for listening in. But yeah, you'll never go like American football because some of the newest channels are saying, Oh, there should they should that should be like that now forever going forward. No, putting it no, it's that's uh that's that's not that sports as that.

SPEAKER_02

Well, walk the break in January and you're fucking freeze. Yeah, he's a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

So other than that, no, overall it was I thought it was the worst I've ever seen, I'll be honest. Yeah, what about you can you and his work? I think I said it a couple of weeks ago, I think the World Cup should be 16. It's the best 16 teams, and that's it. Like again, no disrespected teams, so I'm not getting up to watch Iran against New Zealand. They're not gonna win the World Cup. It's great that they were there, even this Cape Verde and Lastor, you know, fair play, but I'd much rather see Portugal against Spain. And having to win. England against Argentina, Brazil against France in a group stage and then in a knockout stage then Zwelic and having to go for matches like that. And the win against them to start mega exciting from the very fourth match. And I'm glad not only because we we backed them and we picked Spain to win, but they beat the proper teams to go in, win it. Like they beat Belgium, Portugal, France and Argentina. Now again they didn't have to be magnificent to do it.

SPEAKER_04

But you still did it.

SPEAKER_03

But it couldn't have got any harder. No, do you know what I mean? Like you know imagine all the teams, imagine the four knockouts or the groups, whatever you want to look at. If they all had good games like that. Good quarter final, good semi-final, final, whatever it is. Do you know what I mean? But okay. Quality was four. Too many teams in the world. Is there for England to get in? And I thought on our levels were all very, very disappointed. Yeah, because look at a team, look Argentina were crap. But the the opposite, like Argentine were absolutely all over England in the last half an hour. And then they were so bad against Spain. But you know what it was as well. I obviously I used uh I don't know, did you probably didn't watch the England France match, like you said? France were just sitting in give a walllocks. Didn't want it, didn't want to fork. The fork I went down on the least I didn't watch it like Laughman and I was watching. If France really wanted to play, like they could have said beating England, like they had about a million chances in the world. I was watching that, I was actually sick that day. I tell you what beaten if he really wanted to. Yeah, it wasn't my white drink anyway. So then again, it was lying there watching it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they set you, didn't it? We were out and I set you like you like it was far near before you knew it was far three. Great game, I wasn't. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No, yeah, I'd agree, it's it's not gonna go down the history books anyway, is it? It's uh definitely memorable. Like even the Qatar was a good World Cup, the final and all is completely different to what this was, and you look at South Africa and all the good World Cups and good quality football and all, but well no, but one of the guitar went to put all the way to panels and all, didn't they?

SPEAKER_02

You know what I mean? Only a young flip. Argentine didn't have a shot on target in 90 minutes. No shot on the worst team I ever seen get into any final cups that I saw in my whole no one saying my whole life I'm 61 to say, and they're only every four years. Just say by saying fucking ten, even just I don't really can remember. Argentine is the worst team I ever seen getting to the final.

SPEAKER_03

But like you could put nearly any final in that cup final, playoff final. Like I've never seen a team that just did not want to win. So negative. Yeah, so negative. Ends of Fernandez stupid getting sent off. Yeah. What if like if if Ronaldo would have played the way Messi did, he would have been absolutely slated. Like I think Messi might have not played.

SPEAKER_02

No, he's brutal in the final, wasn't he? Obviously, he wasn't landing because I think he should have taken him off approximately quicker on that, and might have quickened up a little bit if he did nothing.

SPEAKER_03

Would he take Messi out now? Would he have the balls? He said he texted me, yeah. No, he's not gonna play it. No, but that you're right, that wasn't all getting slated by the world, you know.

SPEAKER_00

An air mate gone off injured then as well. Martinez, Christ, I'm gonna start.

SPEAKER_03

That's one of the questions brought in. Ben wrote in to us about Martinez while they were on that. We need to get rid of him. It was more of a statement he was making. So I agree with him, yeah, Ben, you're right. We need to get rid of him. I if I know he's good to have around and all, but you can't trust him. Well, you're looking at he's it's nearly the amount of the game. I think he played 117 games or something that's like, but he's missed 105.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So something like that, that might be exact figures, but it's that's how close it is. That's ridiculous. Yeah. So when he is there, he's one the best in the world. In the league, anyway, be one the best. You look at the two lats in Arsenal and Van Dyke and all, and all the best players through the years like they're they're good and are considered to be great because they're reliable. Playing everything. You play every week, yeah. No, you need reliability, too. So I think we should get rid of them. Yeah. But if a decent offer came in, get out. Yeah, I can't, you know, it's it's a shame, and uh, as I say, a big shame. Not because of the player he is, because he can't stay fit.

SPEAKER_02

And that's simple as simple as that. I'd I'd be like that with you, and I when I seen a Libanot that time, I said it's time for him to go.

SPEAKER_03

He did let him go on holidays, so I don't think it's that bad, but still. It's over and done with now, and the league is back now, not three weeks or something. Yeah, we look forward to that, yeah. Yeah, right, John. There was one question here, just we I think we it was plenty, yeah, plenty of questions dropping in, and uh I do do text people back individually as well. So um, if there's like that one, just toward you the same question, you know. It's good to have now. Keep writing the mini, keep writing the obvious questions in because we'll be we'll be talking about it regardless, like you know. Um there was one there from William J's name as I scared Arsenal will dominate for the next couple of seasons with the signing of Vinnie Jr. I I think that's gone now, isn't he? Yeah, I'm an Arsenal fan, definitely. And he's sometimes trying to wind me up maybe more.

SPEAKER_02

So I don't think and then we did something, I don't think he wouldn't have been scared either.

SPEAKER_03

No, I hope he's he's he's one of them I think he's troubled. It's more about his look, his image of the he's never gonna fulfill potential. He should, yeah, I think so. You'll have glimpses, he'll score a hat trick in one game, he'll get your goals, but he's not gonna be talking to nine weight, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes you can just pass the ball simple for any that chance to score a goal, like he wants to take the hardest shot, and if he misses then like like he's a great player.

SPEAKER_03

But he has uh nearly his either the same amount of appearance appearances for Real Madrid or close to it anyway, and the like Ronaldo's stats are like four or nearly five times of his overall. Like that's the difference in football now and when Ronaldo's at his height. Yeah. I know he's he with him and Messi was scary, right? Fair enough. He wouldn't do that in half, he's still nowhere near it. Yeah, so I was sort of hoping he would have signed him and wasted all that money and big hype, and then he'd just be a flop. I don't think he'd do it very well in the Premier League. I think he is too physical. Yeah, he can turn it on, he can be great, but it's it's as we always said in life, it's consistency. Yeah, so but anyway, he's not assigned so. Well you do it on a rainy night in Stoke, like as you usually say, like no way to Coventry on a Thursday night on a Wednesday night. Getting around the place when it's pissing rain, it's windy and it's cold. Bob want to turn up. No, no, you want Wayne Rooney to turn up, that's the type of player you want, you know. Yeah, exactly. But um like Ken. In a somewhat of a scared Arsenal to dominate, but that their activity hasn't been great, but it's there for the taking for them again, isn't it? Oh look, it's the challenge is everywhere now. I think in fairness now, maybe because they're just not watching, it's open. It's been very quiet. A couple people I know who said they couldn't really enjoy it because the the way everyone's slagging them, but because these are playing shy terrible football. We're not doing it, we're not making it up, you know, so they couldn't really enjoy it.

SPEAKER_02

You know, we're we're only assuming what we saw.

SPEAKER_03

Um like on the media and all that haven't be seen much of it, you know, which is great to see. You know, I thought they were all playing Ruby in, but if they were playing scinding football, then we'd be getting played Bob Bard as well. Because they're they everyone knew they were shit, but they'd hate to win, of course. Yeah, you know, but so I don't know, I'm gonna say scared.

SPEAKER_02

And tonight he won't make them go any better going forward, just say right.

SPEAKER_03

Like he plays that sport.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, no, it's not uh you were saying that they go right, it's just say right. You know, he runs a lot of places, he's a good attacking and all that, and he's similar to uh technically nice, just say right. So he won't change their dynamics going forward. So like I can only see them still playing the same way next year again. Yeah, and hope the rules come in to stop them.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, look at we like you said we give our like predictions of the league and all, but uh I'm not like Harry Arthur Force straight away, like it's you know see what way the window goes. Yeah, it's just four weeks at the window, something's gonna tell them to take that's it. You just have to pick the team that's gonna catch them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, isn't it? Yeah, that's exactly it. Like it's the afternoon's now, you see because they're the champions. Kevin Batman wrote this into us. So lads, you always yeah, always Batman's name, is it?

SPEAKER_00

Kevin Bateman. No, it's not a superhero name, is it?

SPEAKER_02

Bateman, no, it's a superhero to Bush was asking the question Batman or Bateman.

SPEAKER_03

You alright? I got a Google that thought you answered someone called Bateman. Master Bateman. That's an old joke from when Connor was younger. Um I said, lads, you'd always say the quality of football isn't what it was compared to years ago. Who would, in your opinion, fit in from the players of today? Back to when football was at its greatest. No one.

SPEAKER_02

Ah, you'd be a few. Yeah, look at me if you're talking about like in the heyday, like of just the 90 just say.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, uh 2000s or like. 2008, 2007. Could you drop Rogery into United's midfield? Could you drop because I I don't think there's that many players who would fit in. And Bat Bay probably would. He's a bit of a bad off the late off the pitch, but you can't pick messing around or they're past that, even though they're still playing. So players in their prime is what I'd answer that as.

SPEAKER_02

Which is I'd say Rodgery would fit. No, it all depends what teams you've you're fit him into.

SPEAKER_03

Just would they stand out like they do now? Would it get any worse if you if let's say what dunno, Roger dropped him into a few years?

SPEAKER_02

Casamiro somebody to think out of still saying he's had to be a player. Casamiro's a good player.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, or when he was younger, yeah. Yeah. So nowadays I think who uh Elise, I've seen it enough of uh of Olise, maybe Olise. Kane. Yeah, Kane Roger, I think. Erriano Fernandez probably not, I don't know. No, uh I don't think he would.

SPEAKER_02

Just back to players around his position in Harlem. Yeah, Harlem definitely wouldn't. He's well he was back, you know. So Van Dyke is saying he's getting 20 years, he was a good centre half. I think he's still still be the same good player league in the middle of the year. I don't think so. No, Death Nice would have won't go into one of the teams, I suppose, as a kid.

SPEAKER_03

Courtois Carval, he's saying I was gonna say Carvalho, he sort of laid and was in their twenties now, let's say.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe yeah, but Silva. No, he's getting the roll now, but like as him as a player though the last ten years, you could pull him back another ten and he'd fill into any ten. He's a fucking he's a smashing up there, wasn't he? Like a friend.

SPEAKER_00

What have you been that?

SPEAKER_02

Never stops running. You bought him into a team years ago and and like them teams years ago that were just all on that, wouldn't he? In your face, and you he'd be just he just fell into any one of the top teams years ago. Like if you had room, like he's just in it, he'd be a decent player them days.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

No, he's he's too just too early, I think. And Rudigo would have been a good centre half and like because he has that bit of bite. You could have played for him, like if just say it feels like a knight years ago and Viddish was in the mind, you'd be happy with him there as a centre half. Yeah, yeah. He's that type, isn't he? Like some of the things.

SPEAKER_03

Well, there's some fans like Viddish, uh Viddich, sorry, I mean Saliba and Gabriel, I don't think they're good. No. For the today's game, yeah. The nice footballers and nice players and all like that.

SPEAKER_02

Ruidor is different, isn't he? Like Rudigo's just in your face, isn't it? And he give you push out the ball, and like so. But that's the football was 20 years ago, isn't it? So that's the only way we're picking sort of him. Yeah, it can't be too nice to send a half now.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think it's many days ago. No, whereas probably 95% of years ago would get in now, but probably only like 10 to get in now. You don't like some McAuley and all that. Yeah, yeah. So take McAleey for example, he's better than nearly all of the midfielders in the world now, yeah. Maybe not better than Rodgery, but it's that type of player like he's John Obi, McKee. You put him back in the back to Chelsea. He got in there ahead of Casado and Enzo Fernandez any day of the week. Every day of the week. You said even you said what Chelsea, even SEM. Oh, he was brilliant. Rodgery won a ball and drop doing what Cardick did at the United States. Yeah. Big part of it. Yeah. But he's no, he was never gonna win a ball at all. No. Roger's a good footballer, don't you say? But uh yeah, thanks for that, uh Kevin. So just got to get a team there for the head new quick rule for the Premier League. Goalkeepers. So if a goalkeeper goes down injured and the game is stopped, the manager has to nominate one of the outfield players to go off the pitch for 30 seconds. No good. So goalkeepers aren't gonna be allowed to think fake and injured anymore. There we go. And then there's a new five-second countdown for restarts, and then 10 seconds for substitution has to exit the pitch.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, bringing the grill. Some of the woke up rules in. Good.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. But no, yeah, it'll happen. But it'll speed her up.

SPEAKER_02

We'll get into that morning next week because you know more about that little fan. But that's good that they're to come in, can't we?

SPEAKER_03

I think we touched on this touched on this slightly, but uh Cortes, um, his name is he wrote Ollie Watkins, yes or no. I think we saw that answer already.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, oh 100%, yeah. Um crying out for somebody else on Front United, didn't he? So and at this stage of the game now, I'm not even saying beggars can't be choosed, it's because Ollie Watkins is still a good player. You know what I mean? Like um did that we need to get somebody so much had to go on past us now that I thought he would have a better window by now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. That's all right. Yeah. So Patrick Lynch wrote into us and said, Why are United fans so negative when the rest of the teams, apart from Spurs, have only signed more than us? I've seen this going around.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but how can you say that but Chelsea has bought more players than United, so it's not only Spurs? Brighton has spent more money than United.

SPEAKER_00

United have only spent like what 80 million this year.

SPEAKER_03

So But like I know you sort of means, but like at Arsenal Liverpool, they haven't bought many more players than us at all, but they are so much more advanced than we are. We need the players in the past. We should be buying way more than them. Like Arsenal signed two players, maybe, if and get away with it. Yeah. But we we don't, so that's we're not in the same league as them, basically. I know I know obviously ours, but realistically, we're not. We need a lot of people. That's why we're frustrated. Yeah. And we look at uh Patrick, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we need it out in Hartford. I mean, when Ranyak said a year ago, saying we're building the team now, and we have Swarves now. This year we're supposed to be focused straight in the midfield, and we knew like Casemira was gone. Right, the other fella, uh, he's used his name, it doesn't matter, but he's using just out of the year, and now Tilleman's and Sandro just say a rebel like our Chelsea just say, Right, we wouldn't have took them as their first choice centre uh centre midfielders. So we have them now, and but just say we're happy enough with them, just say, but as Connor said that happened now, they would have been your second and your third, but still went to get our main midfielder, and we need the ultimate. Put a deal like this.

SPEAKER_03

What page did you go to when you sign them to? Do you must have scrolled to the tour?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, fifth, I'd say, I'd say fifth. I'd say a fifth or sixth because Anderson you're talking about all the time forwards when you tell an alley, Kuma Rives, Scott, you're talking about Wharton, yeah, you're talking about so that's already Fernandez, that's six already, Chiromini was seven. So they're down on eight and ninth for Kir already.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. They might probably paint the picture to you. Not sure if you're uh you could even trouble Abe and Ed of them.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_03

He would have signed. Yeah, he's a United fan by that. You ask that question. So we could have Luke Shaw left back, Harry McGuire centre midfield. Oh, centre midfield. No, then you might have him. Okay, no, you might have him. Centre back, um playing with Euro, let's say, you could have the low right full, and Marcus Rasher could be back at left wing. And Xerxes could be up front. And Xergia could be up front. You were telling me in the midfield. You're happy with that, and you're just content. The league started in four weeks, three weeks. You're content with because other team other teams are not doing it. Liverpool spent half a billion last year. No, it didn't work out with them, but they don't have to sign that many players like now. They only spent another 500.

SPEAKER_02

But it didn't work out for Liverpool last year. So we need to like that's but you're just saying that's negative if it's realistic. Exactly. But you had to mention that you spent over for 450 billion million last billion humanity. 450 million last year, just say, right? But at least you were ambitious enough to spend it. Yeah, it might not have worked out, but you still show an ambition to spend it to try and win the league again because Klopp left to win the league with slot to say, and you think spending a 450 billion would have just took them on another level.

SPEAKER_00

But better than Man City, it's better than some of the money on the U.S.

SPEAKER_02

But you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_03

But you know it hadn't shown any ambition at all. It's been buying players. The league is starting in three weeks. Come on, we need to have our why can't we just have our best team ready to go from day to one? Because our four or five pictures are not playing Man City, you know, are all winnable. Yeah, all winnable. We're gonna drop points, I think, later on if he if we could hope we get through more rounds of them cups and stuff, you know. Come February, March, we're gonna need we're gonna have injuries, we're gonna be tired. We're gonna need we're gonna drop points. You need a big squad. So we need to get the points off the board quick uh on the board quickly, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we still wait.

SPEAKER_02

It'll be spend 300 million next summer when we finish eight again. To get into the Champions League again. You don't do what to build on what they are they're in the Champions League already now. Especially now when the league is so open.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for us.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, look at finish second. We still wait at the end of this and we judge that at the end of when the windows closes on the wherever it is, it'll be probably the last day of August or wherever it is, or whatever way it is, like it might be into September, whatever.

SPEAKER_03

But then we just judge it. Happy or not with the windows, Carl wrote into us there, so we'll think of that as well. Three out of ten. I think I think I know the answer. Uh Rob Keegan wrote into us again. Uh I think I know the answer. Would you use welcome back to Rashford? No. I think it's backwards.

SPEAKER_02

No, not at all. I don't think that's anywhere fit anymore. I know that's gone past.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so later. Um couple of other questions here now. I think a few out. There's a couple I can ask next week as well. All be relative. Um I think we said it rationally before we started. He should be like its captain then. Yeah. Johnny Phillips robbed into us. He should be, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Should it be the face of Man United and on and selling the club and on and fucking money he's getting? He's still getting fucking the money for the next two years as well, like 350,000, whatever it is a week. Mad. No way.

SPEAKER_03

Johnny robbing us, uh Johnny Phillips and he is. Do you boys I did sorry, did you boys enjoy the holiday or a break from the podcast more?

SPEAKER_02

No, we enjoyed the holiday more. We didn't enjoy the break from the podcast because we left our poor little brother out there and somehow. So um we missed doing the podcast because he he obviously obviously wasn't a holiday, but no, the holiday was great. That was it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, I agree. Yeah, it was nice to get away, but we would have been good to we think about ways of doing that over there, wouldn't we? But yeah, I think it just could take the break as well. Yeah, because I talk to people about like uh in person and on online as well.

SPEAKER_02

Take a break, you should. Like everybody goes on holidays if you take a break, you know what I mean? It's only these people that are out there that are that do it for a living. Just say, like, do we every day with them all like and you didn't go on holidays and bring the supplement doing from holidays? And we're doing it as only starting it this year now. Uh and and like so just it's the next season now, like, so so look we just try and edge up a little bit and build on a little bit, but like taking a break is still good, like makes you look forward to coming back again, doesn't it?

SPEAKER_03

Like, like people are sounding working, they wouldn't listen to a podcast on all this. I wouldn't we have kids, I didn't have time. No. It's in the pools. That's time of the year, isn't it? My skin doesn't take the sun very well, so uh my young girl daughter's getting bigger now, and so she could be two and a half hours in the in the pool. Yeah, last thing I want to do is just have a podcast and make her else, you know. So you wouldn't have time anyway, six years old, as you say. Have to go to the bar, you know. Yeah, think of the wrong way. Yeah, you were in the pill an offers as well, you know. Yeah, that's the way it was. Well, it's good funny. So, yeah, thanks for that question. Yeah. Um so yeah, um and another one, MFD around us. Why are they waiting uh so long on Coney? I'm gonna have to read into it properly, but the 24th of July, they need to sell them. Well, it's it's in the best interest to sell them for their financial their financial. Yeah, yeah, well look at what's going on. So that's why I think they're waiting now. If it's another this time next week, I'd be like, I'd be fuming. If this time next week we don't have Coney signed it, then I'd say I'm gonna be fucking fuming. No. Then again, if they're bleeding. God knows why he's a coiner, isn't it? Yeah, gamble. But it's you're not paying 90 million for him. This is the thing. I know 50 million, but like look at the figures that are going around. They'll turn around and say we signed three midfielders for 120 million. Yeah. And there's some of that bit more or less.

SPEAKER_02

That's the only year we can think, other than that, they should already have that deal done. As you said, maybe it's getting more closer to the financial winner for all you think they might get a bit cheaper or something.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think this as well. I know we're all gonna be thinking naive because that's what they are club owners, and even Carrie going to open his mouth because we're playing lesser opposition in the first couple of games, I'd be grand with Santos and thing in the middle there, you'd be grand. No, you won't be grand. What happens if you lose? Yeah, and then all of a sudden, then then you're going for two mini becomes available at the end of August. It was 120 million there, please. No, you can't provide it. And that's what will happen. Yeah, Joan Anthony gets the mirror and the kids. Exactly, yeah. And you're fucked then.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We don't have to give the big wages, you'll have to give the big fee. Just give the thing and then get the points on the board. Have try and have 15 or 14 points out of 15.

SPEAKER_02

Have the team ready to go. When did you have the team ready to go? In the first five games, like you know, never. This is why we're so frustrated. It's every year, isn't it? Yeah, every year. So then you've Willcox there, and Lee Brad are there and all and the Vell there and all, and supposed to be great at their jobs and all that. Like you haven't brought that yet.

SPEAKER_03

I mean the same question, the same same guy. Uh have you have you seen the size of Cesco?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you saw it. You see, no, we don't change the picture where he didn't look up alright, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Looking up.

SPEAKER_02

Do you reckon he could be back because looking a little green around, he didn't look right now. Do you reckon he could be back um uh with the travelling squad now and could get a few minutes on um Saturday against AC Milan, isn't it? Yeah, Athletic of Madrid. Athletic on Madrid Milan the last game. That's Samaran's team, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_03

We've been on over to the uh gone over to the latest matches about 20 minutes away from us, isn't it? Yeah, that they're on our two weeks. But look at the players back slowly now, and that's it. I'll ask I'll keep a couple of questions for next week uh in the interest of time. Yeah, true, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thanks for writing them in, lads, anyway. Very good.

SPEAKER_02

Looking glad to be back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's great. There you go, glad to be back now every week now. We keep going now again, and that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Back up and running, another feeling of fucking getting tormented by United every week and great, you know. Rat and rail and yeah, well, it's where it makes a break a week, so it's well taken a frustration out on it.

SPEAKER_02

So hopefully we can we'll be less frustrated this year, but we they won't promise nothing with that all that sure, yeah. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03

So that's it. Well, okay, thanks for anyone that's listened to last year. Uh thanks for the people who are gonna listen to this one after our two-week break, and people in America and Asia and all over the world that are listening. So we'll be back next week for what number 48. Closer to the start of the season.

SPEAKER_02

So we look forward to doing it again with the start of the season again, and thanks very much for listening. Thank you. Thank you.
