You're Never Going to Feel Ready (Start Your Kingdom Business Anyway)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
#031 // You've been waiting to feel ready. Waiting until you've learned one more thing, fixed one more piece, until the fear finally quiets down and you just know it's time.
So let me save you years right now: That feeling is never coming. And the part that’ll set you free? That’s just how God designed it.
Here's the truth that's going to light a fire under you today…
God never once called somebody who felt ready. Not Gideon. Not Moses. Not a single one of them. You're ready the moment God says you're ready. And if He's already called you, that day is already here.
In this week's episode of the Jesus Girl Gang Kingdom Business Podcast, I'm walking you through why "I don't feel ready" is a feeling and not a fact, and how to move on what God said even when every emotion in you is screaming "not yet."
Here's what we get into:
→ GOD NEVER CALLS THE READY ONES. Bible story after Bible story proves that ready-feeling never actually shows up first, and why this means you're in very good company
→ WAITING ON GOD VS. WAITING ON A FEELING. The difference between holy waiting and fear-stalling (spoiler alert: one is just disobedience in a sensible outfit)
→ YOU CAN GENERATE YOUR EMOTIONS. The truth almost nobody tells you: you don't have to be dictated by your feelings, and the three things you steward to actually shift them
→ PLANT BEFORE THE WEATHER'S PERFECT. What Ecclesiastes 11:4 reveals about moving on God's timing instead of your emotional forecast, and why doing it your way costs you so much more
If you've been standing at the edge of the thing God called you to, waiting to feel ready before you leap, this is the permission and the push you've been praying for. Press play!

This is the Jesus Girl Gang Kingdom Business Podcast, where faith finally meets real strategy to launch your online business. Good morning, friends. Happy, happy Thursday. I'm so excited to be here with you guys. And it's Thursday. It's Thursday. So the first thing that I want to tell you as we're getting started here is that we're on a crossover episode. I don't know. I don't know if you were aware, but we are on a crossover episode this morning. So I am streaming live to Instagram and Facebook as we chat. And this is Get Ready with God with Erica Pyle. Hello, that's me. I'm Erica Pyle. But also, but also, we're recording an episode of my podcast, the Jesus Girl Gang Kingdom Business Podcast. So if you're watching this on YouTube, on the podcast channel, or if you're listening on a podcast app, I want to say welcome to the podcast. Because this is a crossover episode. How fun is that? So on Thursdays on Get Ready with God, 7:30 a.m. Eastern on Instagram and Facebook, we talk to kingdom builders. That's who we're talking to this morning, our entrepreneurial Jesus girls. You're building a business or a ministry out here in these online streets for Jesus. Come on. You're a Luke 8 lady. Have you ever read that passage of scripture, Luke 1 to 3? Have you ever read that? Talks about Jesus going in ministry to various villages and cities. And it said that there were these certain women who traveled alongside him, and they provided for his ministry out of their own substance. So that's what we're doing out here as godly women, as godly women who are building businesses and ministries out here. Listen, you're raising funds to support the ministry of Jesus in the earth. What's that? That's the expansion of the kingdom. That's what you and I are doing. And so on Thursday mornings, we talk about kingdom builder business. We talk about things that pertain to how are you going to get out there and build and launch that thing, that big, bold, beautiful thing that God has called you to. And he says he'll do it with you. But you've got to make the decision to do it. And so that's what we're going to talk about a little bit this morning is how do you, how do you start when you don't feel ready? Because so many of us do that. Yeah. I I know that I had seasons, seasons, entire seasons of that where I was like, I don't, I maybe, maybe it's not, maybe it's not time, right? Because I didn't feel ready. And I'm going to knock your socks off today with the truth right out of the Bible so that you know that it's time to get that fire lit up under your butt is called conviction. Called conviction. And you need to start building right now. Today. Today. No more, no more delay. But before we get into that, because I do want to give you an opportunity, if you're hearing me say this and you're like, my girlfriend Sharon needs to hear this. My girlfriend Sally, she needs to hear that. My mom needs to hear that. My sister needs to hear that. My friend needs to hear that. Then just tag them. Tag them up. Send them the link. Let them know that this is what we're talking about today. Because if that's been your roadblock, is I just, I don't think that I'm ready. I don't feel like I'm ready. I really, honestly, Erica, I don't think that I'm ready. There is so much more that needs to be done. Girl, we're going to get into the Bible today, and you're going to realize that today is the day. Today's your day. Today is your day, right? This is the day that the Lord has made. We're going to rejoice, we're going to be gladdened, and we're also going to walk out our purpose obediently in Christ Jesus. Okay? So, but before I get into that, I wanted to just say, because some of you who have been out here on Get Ready with God and in the podcast with me, you joined me last night for our intro session of our Bible study that just got started. So we are studying through the book of Nehemiah, the book of Nehemiah over the next few weeks. And I invited you all to come and join me for it. So last night we had our first introduction and we had a bunch of people that were on and we had a chat. So it was pretty heavy in the intro. So I talked a lot about the historical context leading up to the book of Nehemiah. And I talked about these three really important things that you need to focus on and get set first before we rebuild walls, because the book of Nehemiah is all about rebuilding walls. So our topic over this time of studying the book of Nehemiah is going to be about how do you build biblical boundaries and spiritual habits that are going to help you to be a strong kingdom builder, a resilient kingdom builder, somebody who can bring the kingdom and not get burned out, not get worn out, not get taken out. So that's what our Bible study is about over the next few weeks in the book of Nehemiah. Like I'm good, like I'm a pretty good Bible teacher, I would say, in the sense that like I could take you line by line, we could do it that way, and we will dig in real hard. I mean, I told the people last night who were on the Bible study that when I send the replay, I'm also going to send you my notes. And they are drenched in scripture, drenched. Because the reality is the people that I work with, they want to know, Erica, what's the address? Where do I find that? Where can I read that? And so the homework from last night, as we finished up our intro, was to say, okay, you need to set those three things straight before we get into building walls. You need to make sure that your heart is set right, that your foundations are set right, and that your standard is set right. And we talked about that in the intro last night. What does that mean? And we we brought it right back into scripture. We brought it into the book of Ezra, we brought it into the book of Daniel, we brought it into the book of Zechariah and of Haggai. And I showed you how God prepared the people to rebuild the walls. So that's what we're going to be talking about is how to rebuild the walls around your life and to do it in a way that's strong, that's smart, that's not a prison. Hey. Okay. So that's what we're studying in our Bible study on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. Eastern. So if you want to join me for that, it's not too late. We just did the introduction. And when I send out the replay later today, um, it will have the um notes and it'll have, you know, what we did in the intro. So you can still sign up. So go to revivetampa.org slash Bible study. Go to revive tampa.org slash Bible study. And if you're on and you're listening, drop it into the comments for me. Be be my guest moderator this morning so that others can come and join us on the Bible study. It's a really great thing to commit to because it's not just, I don't know how to explain it. It's not just like I'm talking at you. I do talk a lot because God's given me some things to say, but there are engagement questions and we do discuss and we do apply to our lives. So I want to encourage you that this is like Bible study plus. Bible study plus. So come and join me. If you've wanted to engage, if you've wanted to learn, if you want to be sharpened, um, and if you want to be in a community of people who value the word of God and digging into the word of God and applying the word of God to their lives, this is the place for you. So go to revivedampa.org slash Bible study and I'll see you there. Okay. Get on the list and then I'll make sure that I'm sending out how you're gonna watch the replays if you need them and um how we get connected on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. Eastern. Okay. All right. So let's get into our topic for today. We're talking about this topic. Girl, you need to start before you feel ready. You need to start before you feel ready because you're never going to feel ready. And how can I say that? How can I say that? Um, two reasons. Number one, and it's always gonna be the strongest one, because the Bible shows us over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. God never called anybody that felt ready. There was nobody that was like, I'm just sitting out here ready to be the king. I'm just sitting out here ready to go to war and win. I'm just sitting out here ready to give birth to the Messiah of the world. I'm just ready. I'm just ready. What you read in the Bible, time after time after time, is stories of people where God comes to them and says, You're gonna do this, and they're like, second, I am not your person. What are you talking about? I I I cannot do this. I that is not, that's not, you you must have gotten the wrong girl, right? Come on, think about it. Go through the Bible, go through, go through all the Bible studies that you know right now. I mean, like, probably one of the most like popular ones that pops to mind that says, I wasn't ready, I'm not ready, is Gideon, Judges 6, yeah. He's like, I'm the smallest tribe, I have the smallest clan. I'm down here in a wheat, in a in a uh wine press, banging out the wheat because I don't want the Midianites to steal our food. Like, I am not courageous. And the angel calls a mighty man of valor.
unknownDamn it.
SPEAKER_00So here we are, we're like trying to launch our business, launch our ministry, and we're trying to figure it out, right? And we're like, well, I don't know how to do a landing page, so it's not time for me. I have to wait and I have to figure that out. Or we get to the point where we have those basic skill sets, and now we're doing it, and we're like, it just doesn't, it doesn't look good enough. Like it, I don't, it's it's not gonna be good enough. That's a feeling, friend. That's a feeling that you're not ready. And what the Bible teaches us, and what we need to understand this morning, is that you're ready when God says you're ready. You are ready when God says you're ready. And when does God say you're ready? When he calls you. When God calls you is when you're ready. That's it. That is that that's the simple truth. I know that that's difficult because there's all these feelings that go along inside, right? I I totally get it. I mean, I'm gonna give you a little TMI right now. Like, I am in the middle of like a pretty rough PMS row right now. And like I am like, how? I mean, I'm paramenopausal, so it's probably like just a huge swing. I'm working with doctors on it. Okay, listen, we we're gonna work it out. But I can tell you right now, I know what it feels like to feel like your emotions are running the game. I know what it feels like specifically to be like, I know that this is what I should be doing, and yet every chemical and neurotransmitter and hormone in my body is like, yeah, we're not doing that. So this is a very real deal. And when you look through the Bible, you also see this story, right? Of people who are like, I'm not ready. Look at Moses. Look at Moses, Exodus three, Exodus four. He's giving so many excuses for why he cannot be the deliverer of the people. But God, like, that's settled. I made you, like I created you, I formed you, I gave you your purpose. And like, I kind of knew that you were gonna be a little slow of speech. I kind of knew. Like, I I foreknew this. And I knew we were gonna come to this place and I was gonna call you and tell you what you were gonna do, and you were gonna give me excuses. And he gives roughly five excuses in that passage of scripture. And God's like, I don't care. He said to him, eventually, he was like, Who do you think made your mouth? Who do you think called you? He's like, You're gonna go, and I'm gonna go with you. I'll help you. That's the answer. God never says, Oh, you know what? I called you wrong. You're right, I'm wrong. Like, yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. God never says that because he had it planned from the foundations. Before, before he formed you, he knew you. Before he formed you, he knew you. He knew what he was gonna create, he knew who you were gonna be. And in Ephesians 2.10 says that he created works for us to do before we were born, that we might walk in them. So the reality is like it comes down to are you willing to be obedient or not? But many times our excuse are I'm gonna call us out on it. It's an excuse. Because if he said it, that settles it. If he assigned you to it, that's the deal. If he said this is what you're made for, that's your purpose. And the only way that we can glorify God is by walking in the purpose that he made us for. Part of that purpose is to worship him, to praise him, to trust him, to love him, right? But there are also these very practical things that he's called us to do on this earth. And whether we like it or not, whether we want to argue about it or not, the only way that God can get certain things done in the earth by his choice and design is that he finds someone who believes what he says and is willing to walk in alignment with it in obedience. Yeah? According to the power of his spirit that is on the inside of you. That's a very tall order when you think about it from the human side. But man, don't we have a good deal when we think about it from the spiritual side? It's like I don't have to earn it. You're telling me that you're gonna give me all the resources, you're gonna give me everything that I need to be successful, you're gonna guide me, you're never gonna leave me or forsake me. You already plan this for me ahead of time. I just have to trust you and walk with you and ask you questions about it. Serious? He's like, Yeah. And yet we're all like, but I'm not feeling it. I'm not feeling it, I'm not feeling it. And so you see all of these stories Gideon, Moses, King Saul hid in the baggage. He hid in the baggage, y'all. Like so many stories all the way across the Bible of people who God was like, This is what I've called you to be and to do. And they've decided that there's a feeling on the inside of them that is convincing them, no, this isn't for me. It's not time yet. And this happens to us too. But can I tell you something? I'm gonna tell you a really shocking statement right now. Okay. You want to be generating your feelings, not being dictated by them. Because here's the lie. I'm gonna say it again. You, you, this is what you really want. You want to dictate your feelings instead of being driven by them. That's the goal here. And you might be like, Erica, that's impossible. Okay, listen, you are talking to a girl who suffered severe postpartum anxiety after the birth of her second son and is right now going through some wild perimenopause. Okay. So if anybody is gonna be on your team to say it's really hard to manage emotions, girl, I am your girl. I am your poster kid for this. However, I am also, I am also a Bible teacher and preacher, and I am also a certified holistic health coach. So I have my experience, my life experience of what it feels like when there's something that I need to do, but I don't feel like I can do it. I don't believe I can do it, right? But then I also know the word of God, because it's daily for me. I am digging in, I am studying, I am, I am just all in it. Okay, partially and primarily for myself, but then also because I know that it's part of my purpose to teach these things to you guys. And so I'm like, I am in it to win it. So the word of God is the standard. And if he said it, that settles it. So now I've got a conundrum, don't I? Because I have a felt experience over here, and I have the word of God over here. And then I have this certification that sits in the middle where I understand how these two things are coming together. And one thing that I learned very early on as a health coach in my research is that we actually can define our feelings. We can determine our feelings. I don't know if you understand this, but there is science. There is actual recorded science that shows us that if we can manage steward well our breath, our thoughts and our mouth. Breath, thoughts, and mouth, you can dictate your emotions. It's actually true. Go and research it. Go do your Googles, go do your AI searches. This is true. All that is happening when you have emotions is chemical cascades in your body. And while I understand that if you were getting chased by a bear or a lion, that is going to create certain chemical cascades in your body. But you're not being chased by a bear. You're not being chased by a lion. That's not what's happening when you go, nope, I can't do this right now. I cannot start this business right now. I cannot do that meeting right now. I cannot do that activity right now. That's not happening. You're not being chased by something that's gonna eat you alive. You're not. What is that? What is driving that? It's a thought, right? It's a thought that says, I'm not good enough for this, I'm not prepared for this, I don't have what I need for this. And so that thought is creating those chemical cascades of fear and trepidation in your body. And then that feeling is reinforcing, like, see, see, I'm not ready to do it. I can't do it. Did you, did you know this? Let me ask you that first. Were you aware of this? Because that's the first step. Awareness is the first step, is to understand and to know that we have this level of control over our emotions. See, our culture has taught us and has programmed us to follow emotion. Even as it, even as like, you know, psychologists and and and people that are well versed in thinking and in emotions, they'll say to you, like, oh, you can, but you know, don't feel, don't feel bad when you can't. Because it's just, you know, it's just overwhelming and it's your nervous system, and your nervous system is broken. And so you can't, and and it's okay, and and you're gonna get through. Can I tell you something? If you do not know how to manage your emotions, you're not probably going to be okay in the sense of how you would define okay. You're never gonna get to the okayness that you want if you don't know how to manage your emotions. I I I like I really need to drive this home to you from my personal experience because I think that maybe, you know, there might be someone who goes, she doesn't really understand what she's saying. She doesn't get my level of emotion and my level of how strong these feelings are. Listen, listen. Like I suffered from postpartum anxiety after the birth of my second son 17, 18 years ago. It was so bad that they wanted to write psychosis on my file. I could not function. So I under, like, I don't know how to express to you any better that like I have been there. I've been in the place. I mean, I was just having a conversation with my husband this morning where I was like, I just there is a level that it hits and I just can't get over it. And the Lord's like, but you can because you have me. But you can because at least you have the recognition to know that there is a way. Like that all you've got to know is that there's a possibility. Once you know there's a possibility, then you know that you can ask for help. And I'm talking ask God for help, but you can also ask people for help. Like my husband is a big help to me in this sense when I'm like, look, we're at the point, we're at one to three days pre. And I am like, I'm gonna do everything I can to keep the things contained. But the reality is I actually need supernatural help right now. And it calls to mind for me, Jeremiah 33.3, right? Call to me and I'll answer you and tell you great and wonderful things that you did not know. I need those. Because at this point, when I know how much control I have over my emotions, and yet my emotions are still winning, that's where I need absolute help from on high. I need an intervention. I need a supernatural spiritual intervention. And that's okay. But here's what I don't do. Here's what I don't do, and this is the key. Listen, listen, I don't throw away my responsibility for managing my emotions. And that's what we've been taught to do. We've been taught that at some point the emotions just become too much. And I believe that that's hyper mercy. It's like, oh, you know what, you can't be, you can't be expected to control. This is your body. This is my body. This is the territory that God gave to me to have first dominion over. Like, this is how God wanted to teach me in life how to walk in authority and in power and to have dominion is he gave me my very own territory and he gave me parents who started and training me up in the way that I would go so that when I was old, I wouldn't depart from it. So that was my starting training, my starting curriculum. But as I went through life and I had experiences and relationships, God was with me and he was like, okay, this is how we do this. And this is how we do that. And he taught me and he taught you how to steward your life. So to then be in a place where you've got people saying to you, Oh, you can't help it, you can't manage it. Like this is one of the biggest problems that I have currently as I go through this paramenophossal phase is like, I know for sure that I'm supposed to be in control of all of this. And yet some days it feels uncontrollable. And that's the point at which you do not drop the truth, but you ask for help. Do you hear me? Because when we reduce, when we reduce our faith and our theology to the experience that we're having, that is where the devil gets you. That's where the devil gets you. It's okay to say, I know that this is true. I know that I should be able to manage my emotions in some way, shape, or form, but I'm having a hard time today. That's better than saying I can't. Don't say you can't because you can, because the way that we were designed by God, it's all chemical cascades. And we have science and the Bible to show us that when we manage our minds, our thoughts, when we manage our words, when we manage our breathing, when we manage those things, we get different emotions that come out. This is just true. It's true based on the Bible, and it's true based on science. So what is what's what's holding us up? What's holding us up? Is hard is painful sometimes. Sometimes we get it wrong. Sometimes we try and we fail. And so we just go, you know what? I tried, it didn't work, so it must not work at all. It's not true. But here's what I need you to see and understand. Listen to me. This is the enemy's attack against you. He's like, if I can get her to be convinced that it will never work, then I don't have to worry about her trying anymore. And so then you become like the elephant, a huge two-ton elephant who's being held captive by a little rope around her ankle and a stake in the ground that's not even reinforced. This is a true story because that elephant has been trained that it can't move. When it was smaller, it got trained that it wouldn't be able to move. And so it doesn't even try to get free. And this is what the enemy does to us. He convinces you you're never gonna be able to manage your emotions, you're never gonna be able to manage your feelings. But I'm telling you, if God said it, that settles it. That's what we're to walk into. That is obedience, and that is conviction, and that is what should drive us. Our decision as children of a king, our decision, and and as children of a king, we've been taught to value the word of our father, the word of a king. He's not a tyrant, but he is an authority. He's not a tyrant, but he is a good father who's also a good ruler. And he says that we can do this, and he's taught us how to manage our emotions. And so we've got to do the work there. What is this work? Well, I call it soul sanctification work. I mean, some other people do as well, but that's like I I mean, other people will in the world will call it, oh, you gotta do somatic work. You gotta do so, you gotta do vasovagal work, you've got to do, you know, your vagus nerve and all that, that's fine. Like I do it. I mean, I I have a I have a thing on that's that does vibrations. And all that's good. But can I tell you something? This, this little, this little device called an Apollo that does vibrations that help you to like reset the heart frequencies and heart vibrations and will help you with breath and all that kind of stuff. Can I tell you something? If I get worked up enough, not gonna do anything. Not gonna help. Because the goal and the purpose in life is for you to learn how to rule and reign over your own life. And that includes your emotions. That includes understanding, knowing, and actually applying the truth that you know that when you are in authority over and when you steward well your breath, your thoughts, your declarations, your choices, you're going to have better outcomes. Can I tell you what those emotions feel like? They feel like the fruit of the spirit. Why? Because when you follow the Holy Spirit as your guide, when you trust and obey the Lord, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, you walk in your assignment, regardless of what, you know, things are coming at you, that's when you are gonna develop the fruits of the spirit. And you're gonna see joy and peace and patience and self-control. You're gonna see it. You're gonna see it. But it doesn't come just dropping out of the sky. It comes because you believe and know that you were called to steward your emotions, to steward those feelings, and that you can, that God has put on the inside of you the ability to do so. Does this make sense? Because here's the thing. Let me give you a little bit of scripture that's practical so that you understand. Ecclesiastes 11, 4. This is what it says. It says, farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. So this is a picture of someone who's like, I'm just gonna check the cloud the conditions. And a lot of times we're checking our emotional conditions, and that will keep you out of the winter circle every single time. It's the scheme of the enemy. Stop taking the bait. Stop taking the bait. Stop believing that you cannot manage your own emotions. If God said it's time to go out and plant, it's time to go out and plant. What that means according to this scripture is even if you looked out and you're like, it's rainy. I don't, I don't, I don't want to go and sow seed right now. If God said it's time to sow the seed, it is more important that you sow the seed at the time that God said, because why? At just the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen. So why would you want to wait for right conditions and then have to sustain whatever it is that you sowed when you wanted to sow it? Come on, somebody. Because that is part of it. Is that we go, no, I don't have to do it that way. I'll do it my way. Well, guess what? If you do it your way, then you're gonna have to sustain it that way too. And that is very expensive, not just in finance, but in emotion, in energy, in what it costs your family, your relationships, your mindset, your sanity. You want to move when God says to move. And part of this is we just have to believe that we can tell our emotions what to do. It takes a couple of seconds, it takes a few minutes. There's actually, you know, science that shows that these things, they'll go in 20 minute um, like it will go in a 17 to 20 minute cycle and it'll come back at you again. And so when it comes back again, you're like, oh, see, it didn't work. No, no, no, no. It's just another cycle. It's just the enemy coming and knocking on the door again. Does that make sense? Here's another scripture. Jeremiah 1. Okay, so in Jeremiah 1, verses 6 and 7, Jeremiah says to God, he's like, I am too young for this. I'm I'm I am I am too young. You cannot expect this of me. And God says, You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. If that's not it, if that's not it, come on, friend. You're not to anything. You're not to anything. You're exactly what God made you to be, and you have the ability to steward and to manage your emotions in such a way that you can continue to do the thing that God called you to do, even when you don't feel ready. You are ready because God said you're ready. If God called you, if he said it's time to go, you are ready. So that's something that you can make your mouth say, I am ready. If God said it, that settles it. Let's go. And emotions, you're coming along. You're gonna you're gonna come into alignment. Amen?
