Hello and welcome to the podcast of Diary of an LEO. My name is Sterling Brown. Join me as we dive into the complexities of law enforcement, explore the challenges we face, and celebrate the victories—and recall some defeats—both big and small. Let's create a dialogue that honors the bravery of those who put on the badge and the lives they touch every day. This podcast is dedicated to all the men and women who make the courageous choice to serve and protect our communities. It's a tribute to their dedication, resilience, and the often-unseen sacrifices they make daily. I hope to continue to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the communities we serve. Together we can foster understanding and respect, moving beyond stereotypes and recognizing the humanity in each other. Thank you for tuning in to Diary of an LEO. Let's get started.

Sterling: 1:01
I remember when I was a child, I would stand at the street corner with my foster mother waiting for the public bus. I watched as a police car sped by with lights and sirens, and I said, “Look at the fuzz.” I didn't realize that this was a derogatory term for police. I'll never forget my foster mother's reply—her profound words—as she said, “While we run away from the danger, they are running toward it.” I want to honor that legacy. Join me in advocating for a stronger, supportive community for our law enforcement officers. Whether it's through community engagement, education, or simply expressing gratitude, we can all play a part in promoting a safer environment. Together, let's create a culture of respect and appreciation for those who protect us every day.
