When I hear that song it convicts me every time I don't care if I carry the gospel half my life and then the other half I just knew what God wants me to do. Then I leave an unfinished task. When you look at this scripture this morning, you look at this young man's line. And the second other scripture. You look at all three gospel writers and you tell us that this was a rich young man. Amen. The world was really his. Anything that he wanted. No doubt he had in his reach. Anything that he desired, he could have. Let us know that he had a position. He had a position. It probably means that he was an influential leader.

In his local synagogue. He had prestige. According to the information that we have about this man, he was an influential leader, but he also appears that he was very moral. He had a lot of good things right in his life. No doubt he wanted to do things right. Wanted to do good. We live a good life from a moral standpoint. We have everything wrong. When you looked at it, you would think, there's a good young man right now. Religious activity had not been able to satisfy the deepest longing in his soul, right? When he would go home in the night, there was something missing on the inside. There was an empty feeling. In spite of everything that he possessed and had, it was something that was causing him to be miserable. Praise the Lord. It's the kind that the social ladder had failed to give him what he most desired, and that was peace with God. Oh, praise the Lord. There was something about the peace of God. When you lay down at night and you have real peace in your heart, there's something about burning up in the morning. You should be happy.

But when you have that empty feeling of the inside, even the sun makes you happy. Oh, praise the Lord.

He knew that he had what it took to live, but he also knew that he was unprepared to die. I'm going to tell you something. Ain't none of us in here can say, I'll live out the rest of this day. Ain't none of us in here. Oh, praise the Lord. Because none of us truly know what happens when we leave these doors. Amen. Amen. This guy got a lot going for him, but deep down inside, he knew that there was something missing. He knew there was something of most importance in his life. And that was a saving relationship with God. Oh my God. This man begins to see his need. And he desires to do something about his need. And our text indicates that he takes running to Jesus our God.

That he sits as he urged things in his life. And he realizes he's missing something in his life. And he realizes I have a need. And then all of a sudden, as he runs the Bible said, he kneels down before Jesus.

This shows us something right here. Yes, sir. It shows us that he understands that there is something special and real about this man Jesus. It shows us that he realizes that this man Jesus has what he's looking for. He now wheels down in the way. Amen. Amen.

And it bows down before him. And it shows us he's not ashamed to admit that he has a spiritual need. And he runs and he falls down in the middle of the road. It doesn't matter what anybody says, he just knows how to have it. Oh, praise the Lord.

Oh, listen to me this morning. This man had a lot of things going for him. Everything seemingly that one could want, but yet with all of his power and all of his possessions, and all of the privileges that he had, he still did not know the answer to the greatest question of our time. He knows a lot of things this morning, but he is forced to admit he does not know the way to heaven. Listen to me this morning. This man gets a lot of things right. He gets a lot of things right. But it's the thing that he gets wrong that troubles my soul. Are you with me? Listen to me. How many knows this morning? We live in the midst of one of the most sophisticated intellectual advanced hours that we've ever lived. I mean, technology is surrounding us. I mean, things are booming. Are you here this morning? But yet people still do not know the answer to the most basic and most important question of all time. People know, amen, people do not know how to truly be saved. People don't know what to do when you get hurt. People don't know what to do when life leads you stranded. People don't know how to respond when they get set back. Oh, praise the Lord. Man can split out, they can put men on the moon, they can harness the power of the sun, the wind, and rain, but yet they do not know how to get to heaven. But then there's another set of that is that some know how to get to heaven, but they refuse to do what it takes to get to heaven. I'm taking a listen to me. There are some that know exactly what they need to do to make heaven home. I'm taking the people to do what they know to do.

It is the point of the middle. It's the judgment, the place that you go and you die with the turn. But what you do with Jesus, while you are the turn, what like you live after this life?

Look at this man's confusion. He is concerned about the right issue. He is in the presence of the right person. He comes in the right time.

He comes with humblings. He comes and living ahead of problems. He don't care what nobody thinks. He did a lot of things right. But there is the thing that gets wrong. Be the for salvation that can be earned. He wants to get salvation. Just like he's got everything else in life. But how many knows this is not something you can buy?

He thinks that salvation is a reward. I've done a lot of good things. I've helped the widows. I've gave money to the poor. I've done a lot of good things right. Listen to me. You can be one of the best people in the world and do people good. You hear me? You can have good intentions, but not have Christ in your heart. You can justify your children. And all of a sudden, I got our heart.

I felt the Holy Ghost tell somebody this morning. Don't let the one thing hinder you from the main thing. As sure as I'm standing here, the Spirit of God dealt with my heart that there's somebody going to be here today. You've allowed the one thing to hinder you from the main thing.

I'm telling you. Don't let one hiccup hinder you from the main thing. I've seen too many people get caught up on the one thing that they didn't agree with or they didn't like, or somebody said and missed the main thing. I made up my mind by the help and mercy and praise of God. I'll make up my mind because the things of the light that's gonna leave you sitting there wondering, where's God? Why? You gotta make up your mind.

Jesus looks at him and begins to tell him, Don knows the commandments. He said, What must I do? What must I do to inherit eternal life? He knew that the light after death was real. The problem was his heart was condemned. What do I do if I want to make it dead? Jesus said that was the commandments. And he went down to the one. He said, I am committed to doctrine. I am so I am born false witness. I'm honored my love and my father. But Jesus knows how to look beyond the surface. You see, this matter here is not just about money.

How many knows Jesus is not a wayshower? He's not a true dispenser, he's the truth. He does not point out the path to life, but he himself is life. He is the road to heaven. He is our help. He is our only help. Hallelujah. And the Bible said in verse 5, and this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life. And this life is in the sun. And he that the sun, he that hath the sun hath light. And he that hath not the son of God hath not light. These things have written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that he hath eternal life.

And that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. That we asked any according to the soil. He purified us. Amen of what you already have. But at the end of the day, at the end of the day, he is all that matters. He's all that's gonna matter in this life. When you take your last breath, is it gonna be one thing in your life that you failed? Amen to give to God. He said, I've kept all of the commandments since by you.

You can be moral, you can be religious, you can be a decent person this morning. You can treat others with dignity and respect and tender care. But none of these will make you right with God this way. To be right with God, you must come through his Son Jesus Christ. And you must be willing to confess your sin. The Bible said in 1 Timothy, for there is one God and one mediator between God and me. That man Christ Jesus. I'm hurrying here. I'm coming to a close. I want you to notice this young man's sorrow this morning. Got a lot going for him. But Jesus saw things as they really were. Jesus knew that he lacked one thing. He had prided himself on all that he had done, all that he had accomplished. And now Jesus looks at him and he says, I want you to go sell all that you have, and I want you to give it to the poor. I want you to notice this man's rejection. He was looking for an easy fix. He wanted salvation. But he wanted it on his jobs. Oh that he had was his father. And when he heard of the Lord's commands, the Bible said he was saved. We were also told that he was free. And this word simply means to be thrown into sorrow. This man is brokenhearted. He came to Jesus with heaven on his mind, but he walked away with hell as his destination. This rich young man made two heartbreaking decisions. Number one, he made an earthly decision. He chose his one thing over Christ. He loved his possessions more than he wanted to be saved. And he knows that Jesus will allow us to make the same choice. Amen. Not only did he make an earthly decision, but secondly, he made an eternal decision. One day this man's youth faded away. One day he was gone and he took his last breath. He retired from his prestigious positions down at the synagogue. High age and disease overtook him, and even his vast wealth couldn't prolong his life. And he died. There's some that's allowing one thing to let bitterness creep in their heart and their mind. There's some that's allowing one thing to destroy their home and family and those around them. But I come to tell you this morning. This story could have ended differently than we read. Hear me? This story didn't have to read this way. Praise the Lord. But for this young man, that's how we read it, and that's how it ended. But I gotta tell somebody your story don't have to do this way. And so you know what the preacher you're telling the body.

People are gonna forsake me like you're gonna let your mind up to you like God. Is it kind of a decision that belongs to you? Or is it that one thing this morning that's gonna win and keep you out of heaven?

Keep you from feeling the presence of God. And I'm preaching you my heart right now. And I stand here today with the confidence and assurance of the Holy Ghost that God's looking for somebody to step out at you this morning. Not ashamed to kneel down on this altar today and get things right. And if you'll bring God the one thing this morning, I'm telling you, from this day forward, you will live with the peace of God.

Come on, somebody churches just standing all over this house this morning. Somebody else needs to come out of here this morning. And say, God, I'm giving it to you right now. I'm the woman, give me from the middle of this morning, I'm gonna present the Holy Ghost this morning.
