Bondage. And this is the setting here, Zechariah prophesied during those days when God brought the people back after the years of exile in the land of Babylon. Horrible years. They said we sat down by the river and wept. We just remembered the songs of Zion. They sat down there among the willow trees and wept by the rivers of Zion. All of God's people was there in that land when God was purging the land because of the wickedness. But when all of that was fulfilled, brother and sister, God brought his people back. They built the walls of Jerusalem again. They built the temple again. Hallelujah. They built the altar again. Hallelujah. Amen. God brought his people back. And we understand that this is the setting here. Amen. Joshua, the high priest, and I'll mention a few things about him. He was there, and Satan is standing at his right hand. The Bible said the reason he's there is to resist him. Satan is standing there to resist God's high priest doing God's work. Amen. This is before Christ has come. And God's order is that they sacrifice, that they build this temple. Amen. God's man, this high priest is there, and there's the old devil. Hallelujah. Amen. There's that old uh dragon, the serpent, amen, that we see in the garden. Amen. A perfect garden with perfect people. Amen. But there he is. Amen. Lying to mankind and working just like he is in 2026. Resisting the work of God. And uh just a few things here, and I know, amen, you studied this, but a few facts about Joshua the high priest, his father was the high priest when they were carried away. And according to Ezra chapter 2 and verse 1 and 2, Joshua was carried away and was one that was returned. Amen. Many of them that returned, amen, had been born in exile. But Joshua was one of them. Hallelujah. Amen. That had been carried away probably as a little child, and he came back. Hallelujah. Amen. I like to tell the devil you thought I was gone. Amen. He standed there to do the work of God, to do the will of God. And there's the devil resisting him. Amen. Another thing is in Ezra 4, he refused. He was one of them that refused the help from the adversaries. The adversaries, when they heard they built the temple back, amen. They wanted the help. Of course, they wanted to mess it up. Amen, but he refused. Amen. His sons. Amen was ones that had polluted themselves. Amen were taking strange wives. Amen. Another thing about Joshua was he. Amen, according to Ezra 3 and 2. Amen was the one that rebuilt the altar. Amen. I like to take a side note right here. No wonder the devil was fighting. No wonder the devil was resisting. Amen. He's building the altar. Amen. I believe that God can help us be altar builders in this hour. Amen. Amen. His sons was a part. Amen of the 4,289 priests. Amen that came back. Hallelujah. Joshua came back with the demise of the Lord. Amen. But his sons came back with all those priests. Amen. I want to say this right here. Amen. According to 2 Kings 24, approximately 10,000 was carried away. Amen. But according to Ezra 2 and verse 69, amen, over 42,000 Jews. Amen. I come to say the devil is a liar.

That's his work. Amen. Now, uh, I want to go to Jude and I want to reference this. And I'm not going to go and just say that it is for sure the same instance. But it's very likely that Jude sees a picture. Amen. Of what is recorded in Zechariah, but it matters not if it is the same instance or not. Amen. But the Bible tells us that Joshua is standing before the angel and Jude 1 and 9, Michael the archangel, when he was contending with the devil. Amen, disputing about the body of Moses. And he durst not bring him really accusation, but said, the Lord received him. Hallelujah. Amen. Here in our text, Satan is resisting the work of God. And that's still what the devil is doing today. He is fighting God's people. And he's fighting God's men. And he's fighting preachers and pastors and meetings. Amen. But I want you to know God will give us the letter. Amen. And Jude, notice here, the Bible said disputed. Amen. Really just words. Hallelujah. Notice that he said contending. That means striving and arguing. Words again. Verse number eight says, their filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil. Amen. Speaking. I'm talking about what the devil does. Amen. And the Bible says in verse 10, they speak evil of those things which they know not, but what they know naturally is brute beast and then things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them, for they've gone after the way of Cain and ran greenly after the Arab man for reward and perish with the gang saying. Amen. The contradiction, contradicting, denying, and opposing. Amen. You know what? It might be an individual, but the devil's behind it. Always throwing his words out. Always speaking forth. Amen. There in the garden. Amen. Yay, hath God said. Amen. Trying his best. Amen. To stop the church. Amen. The Bible tells us that they have hard speeches. In verse number 15. To execute judgment upon all and convince all that are ungodly among them of their ungodly deeds, which they have ungodly committed. And of all their hard speeches. And then verse 16, murmurs. Amen. That's with the mouth. Complainers, that's with the mouth. Walking after their own lusts, and their mouth speaketh great swelling words. Amen. It's the devil's job to slander. I don't know what he was saying to Joshua. Amen, but you can mark it down. He was ready. He was lying. Amen. Oh God, I remember years ago when we were young. Amen. My cousin got to the pulpit. Amen. And all he said was, shut up. And we weren't allowed to say that, you know. And he backed up and he got back up and he said, Shut up. And on that third time, he said, Shut up, Devil.

Shut the devil out. He said, I know he runs his mouth. I know he says all kinds of things.

And we say, the Lord rebuke thee. Amen. And we also do like our text. And the Lord said, the Lord rebuke thee, O Satan. Amen. Looking at this slander. And uh the work of Satan, the work that he does against the church and God's people. Job chapter number one. Amen. Amen. And he slandered. Amen. Godly, holy, upright, and perfect. Now God called this man perfect. And the devil didn't care.

He was slandered. Hallelujah. Somebody said, oh, you know the devil fought you because we've all got something the devil can tell you.

Job was a perfect man. Job was an upright man. Job was a holy man. Amen. And the devil was accusing him before God. What did he say? He said he only serves you because you blessed him. The devil accused Job, a holy man. That the only reason he was serving God is because God was good to him. And he said, if you'll take all of his possessions away, he will curse you to your face. Now the accusation wasn't that you talk behind his back. You know, people will talk behind their back. They'll say things, you walk up, they'll get quiet. Amen. You know, people do that about the Lord, but the Lord is everywhere. And you talk about the Lord, he hears it ways. But people think they're talking about they're talking behind his back. Amen. They wouldn't say that in his face, but Job said, if you, or the devil said about Job, that if you'll take everything he's got, he will stand in your face and he will curse you. What an accusation. And it was a lie. And uh God said, you know, we know the story. He said, uh, you know, don't touch him, but everything he's got's in your hand. And look at one of the devil and there was four messages.

And uh the first one was the felon.

Well, the new night, but he brought the neighbor. And uh he took the ox and uh the gauntlet. And so this is the agricultural culture, the plowing. And the Bible tells us that uh he he took the neighbor and he came against it. And uh so then while he's just speaking, he he sends fire from heaven. And uh so you know that's this thing's like God. He's trying to get the uh Job, the holy man, to curse God to his face. But he cannot, hallelujah! And uh so the next one is fire from heaven, amen. The livestock, the sheep, and the shepherds, amen. The serpent, I'm only escaped to tell you. Amen. Then the next one was also, amen, the camels, so this is commerce and the merchant, amen. How he would deal with things and trade. Amen. And he used fellow man. And then the last one, amen, he brings the wind from the wilderness, and we know that God moves in fire, and we know that God reveals himself through the wind. Amen. We even find that in John chapter number three, in reference to the new birth of regeneration.

Slandering him. And uh, you know, the devil is slandering you right now. He's the accuser of the brethren. Here's Joshua standing there, trying to sacrifice, no doubt. Trying to bring back the holy things of God and sanctify this broken down city that's been trodden by the Gentiles. And the people that have left, brother, have corrupted themselves. And here's this high priest that wears the high priest's garment. He's been anointed with the holy oil, and he's next there doing the work of God in that holy of holies. Amen. There is the devil! Hallelujah! Amen. And God, in his mighty power, gives us the scripture and said, the Lord said unto Satan, Amen, that's all it takes.

I told this recently, Brother Kirk heard it because I told you down there at May Moreno Jonathan. Heard he wanted me to tell it again. When we was young, you may have heard me tell it. We were young when there was a boy that got cut out of our church. Married a girl, and then they came back when she, you know, when she came to pray, the devil was revealing her, you know, and then we was a prayer in this possession. And I was a young preacher. We were praying that God would deliver her.

And it was a uh, you know, uh, uh well, when we was praying there, my brother just reached over and grabbed the eye like this, and all right.

And he was praying, he said, he just threw it over and just threw it over like that. And uh threw it open like that. And that lady crashing around under the influence of hell and evil spirits, and he says, and he says, the word of God is against yourself. And when he did that, that lady lunged, and her husband was trying to hold her down, some of the sisters there, and uh, not that you had to hold somebody down and cast the devil out, but you don't want them to hurt yourselves and stuff like that nowadays. I mean, we live in 2026, you know, and this was probably back in the 90s. But she bit in the Bible. She bit a page in the Bible, and I felt that is my mom's Bible. And I've taught different scriptures. I wonder. I called my mom a couple weeks ago because I kept telling us, I said, Do you know? She said, Yeah, that's my Bible. She said it was Matthew 8, 16. And because when she bit it, she immediately spit it out. And we come to find out later, there was a scripture, Matthew 8.16, that says, and when the evening was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils. And he cast it out with his word. Hallelujah. Amen. I'm talking about the Lord said, Amen, the Lord rebuke these people. Amen. Here's Joshua doing the work of God. Amen. I see the people of God in this hour. Amen. They're trying their best to do what I want them to do. Amen. There's that old devil. Amen standing at that right hand. He's trying to close trouble, he's trying to resist it, amen. But the Lord rebuke it. Oh, the Bible says, and the Lord said, Amen, hallelujah. When God speaks to the devil, he has to go. Amen, hallelujah. All it takes is the Lord. He cast it out with his word, and his word still has power. Anyone got a book tonight? Hallelujah. I mean, the devil is afraid of the word of God. He cannot, amen, withstand the word of God. The Bible says, and the Lord said, Amen. The Lord rebuke thee, oh Satan. Hallelujah. I'm talking about the power of God's word. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Hallelujah. I'll tell you something else when we share. I called my sister and told her about something else.

And I wrote this down, so I'm gonna ask her if she remembered it. We work for many chicken houses and costs and kind of chicken. And then you have another. And my mom. And uh leaving this hopper one day. And uh we had a lot of cleaning to do. My mom had a white brick, and I took the hammer out of the hint cough. And I figured out what they said, you're running like a chicken with your head cut off, you know. But uh, we had these chickens in the pen and they you know, break up and then cook them, they make chickens. And uh there was a neighbor down the road that had old black chow.

Chow dog had that old purple tongue. Me and uh all of all things, they named that dog Satan. I'm telling you the truth. That chow's uh name was Satan. We were scared to death of that dog. But one day, my brother Joseph came running in the house. Satan is in the chicken pen. And there's blood everywhere. That's what he's saying. He's running in the house, Satan's in the chicken pen, there's blood everywhere. And I asked my sister about it, oh yeah, I remember that. Hey, remember my older brother went out there with a stick and got Satan out of the chicken pen. Amen. Well, that's a comical story in funny, but I'll tell you what, I go to church and stuff. Hey man, I want to run around and say, Satan is in the chicken pen. Hey, there's blood everywhere, hey, when there's children in trouble, he when there's changes in trouble. Amen. The power of God's not doing it because he's resistant. Amen. But you know what? I got all the brother. Come on now. Amen to Jesus to God's comfortable, amen that I got all the other Jesus, Amen to God, the chicken, amen, amen to redemption road, hallelujah to tell somebody, amen if the devil is depressing, amen, God is rebukeing him, the Lord is rebuking him, Amen, Amen to give us the victory so we can do the work of God.

Prove it. Amen, but I'm not out to prove nothing to the Lord. I'm not out to prove nothing. It's not for show, it's not to get in his face. I know sometimes we get to feel him good for sure, young people. Amen, and we want to go at him. Hallelujah. Amen. And flash it in his face. But that's not the purpose of revival. That's not the purpose of me shouting. That's not the purpose of me worshiping. That's not the purpose of me, amen, doing anything for God. Amen. I think it's in the way. Amen.

It's better to feast on God's bread than it is to prove something to somebody that ain't gonna matter anyway. He would not, he would not turn those stones to bread. He would not prove himself to the devil. And he said it is written. The next one was, amen, he twisted scripture. He rested. That's an old English word, W-R-E-S-E. Rest. And it's in a King James Bible. He twisted scripture. He said, uh he takes him up to the Holy City and said, Cast yourself down. Because it is written. He uses God's word. And he says it's true. He says if you cast yourself in heaven, he'll give his angels charge over you. And let thou dash thy foot against the stone. And Jesus would not fall to the false doctrine. Jesus would not fall to the deception.

I want to say today, if we ever lived in an hour where the devil is giving people this false doctrine and deception, it is in this hour we live in.

That's right. Hallelujah. The next, the third temptation is found the devil taking him to an exceeding high mountain.

And then he says, Worship me. Devil worship. Many earthly honors and sinful alarmments have demonic worship in you.

We don't even realize it. And I understand that there is a principle of when somebody doesn't know. And I'm not saying that everybody that listens to the music that's dedicated to the Satan is going to become demon-possessed or that. But those that know better are walking on a thin line.

Amen. Verse number 11, the Bible said, The devil leaveth him, and the whole angels come. The reason it's important to get the devil out is because when the devil leaves, heaven comes. According to that reference. The reason that we don't mess around with satanic powers in our church services, and we want them out. Whether they're lying to an old sister or lying to a young girl, amen, whether they're messing with a brother, amen, or messing with a child, when we rise in the house of God, amen. It is our duty to get the devil out. Hallelujah. Because when the devil goes out, the angels come. I'm going to tell you something if you can get the devil off your shoulder. Amen. If you can get the devil out of your mind. If you can take the demonic powers, amen that you can go to job today and get them out of your life.

And the church hymnal. And then they had the melodies of praise. And somebody said the church hymnal is the King James Version song book. And I said, well, if the church hymnal is King James Version, then the melodies of praise is the Greek. But I mean it was the old, you know, the old songs. And the old assembly of God type assembly of God type singing, they choir would come up, the song leader would face today, you'd see his back. Amen. When I was young, there wasn't no drums, no bass, just a piano and an organ. I mean, they'd sing three or four songs a night. Amen. Most of the time the congregation said, I know that's strange. Amen, but that's just the way they did it. It didn't take long, you know. We got around the holdest people. And uh we change, you know, and all of that. But in the melodies of praise, there's a song that says, I was, uh, he brought me out of the mighty play. He set my feet on a rock to stay. Uh He put a song in my soul today. Hallelujah. Song of praise, hallelujah. Amen. It's got five verses. I won't I won't take the time. Amen. When my heart was distressed, meet Jehovah's dream frown. And low in the pit when my sins dragged me down. I cried to the Lord from the deep my reclaim, who tenderly brought me out to golden today. Hallelujah. Amen. He brought me out. Amen. The psalmist said it was a horrible pit.
