We pray today, ask the Lord of God. Lord, I love you. I thank you for the Holy Ghost. Thank you for the Spirit of God. I pray that you make me a preacher according to your word. Hallelujah. I pray that you touch every heart. You touch every life. I pray, oh God, that we would have an altar that represents the cross of Jesus Christ tonight. That is what we need in Jesus' name. Amen. Thank you for standing a reverence, reading of our Lord's Word today. I want to talk to you concerning the Brotherhood of Belvers. The Brotherhood of Believers. 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 17. Honor all men. Love the Brotherhood. Now we live in a generation today, I think we would agree, where we have never been more connected, yet have we never been more divided. We can communicate instantly with someone across the world. Yet sometimes we go to the house of God and we do not communicate with those across the aisle from us. Hallelujah. We know how to attend church, but Peter addresses us that we should do more than attend the Brotherhood. But he says that we should love the Brotherhood. The first direction which we were given was that we should honor all men. To honor means dignity, prize, to set a valuation upon, to revere, to honor, to value, to honor all men. Now the last part of the verse directed us that we were to honor the king. I suppose you would agree this morning that it's easy to give honor to those who it's easier to give honor to those who are in authority. Honor the king. Hallelujah. We agree honor belongs to the king. But the word of God said that we were to honor all Mia. Hallelujah. This is the duty of Mia. Romans the third chapter of the seventh, the thirteenth chapter of the seventh verse saith, to render therefore to all their dues. Tribute to whom tribute is due. Custom to whom custom. Fear to whom fear. Honor to whom honor. Hallelujah. One writer declared, honor all men, as they are made in the image of God and are capable of heaven. Hallelujah. Another writer wrote, There are two ways of accosting a poor man. One which tells him he is a man, and the other which tells him he is poor. Hallelujah. The apostle Peter was directing, addressing the married relationship in 1 Peter 3 and 7, when he said, Likewise ye, husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife. Hallelujah. The word of God said, honor all me. Praise the Lord. You remember the golden rule which we are to do unto others. As you would have them do unto you. Hallelujah. If you want respect, then we give respect. If you want honor, then we give honor. Hallelujah. If we want love, then we give love. Jesus said, Therefore all things, whatsoever that ye would, that men should do unto you. Hallelujah. Honor. All men. All men bear God's image. Hallelujah. Whether the rich or the poor, the educated, the uneducated, the young, the old, the Democrat, the Republican, the lost, the saved. Amen. It matters not. We all bear the image of God. Hallelujah. Oh, glory be to Jesus. To give someone honor is to recognize the value which God placed upon their soul. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Honor all men. You remember we sang it as children in the booster band? Jesus loves the little children. All the children of the world. In his sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world. Amen. Is that we are to honor all the other. The second instruction where I wish to preach this morning was that we were to love the brotherhood. The apostle Peter addresses the brotherhood of believers. Now this morning I believe that you would agree that we love the lost with compassion, just as God does. Jesus loved the lost. He ate with them. He wept for them. He wept among them and walked among them. He touched them. He touched their children. He fled and he died for them. We should love all them. Praise God. Pray for them. Show them kindness. Desire their salvation. And witness to them. But when Apostle Peter wrote concerning the brotherhood, he had something a little bit deeper in eye. Hallelujah. Oh, listen to me. We ought to evangelize the sinner. We ought to reach the loss. We ought to be concerned about the desire to see them saved. But the heart of the church member is that they come to be a part of the brotherhood of the believers. Hallelujah. See, we evangelize them, but we carry our brother. When Apostle Peter used the word brotherhood, he was addressing the family or the fellowship of the believers. Hallelujah. You see, there is a difference. And I hope I can read through this and navigate this and understand my heart this morning. Amen. There is a difference between the love which we have to the sinner and the love which we have towards our brothers. Hallelujah. We're family round here. And we want those that's outside to be a part of the family of God. Now we're not cultic, we're not clanish, we're not cleany. Amen. But we want them all to come and be a part of the brotherhood of the believers. Dividing affection one to another with brotherly love and honor, preferring one another. Well, praise the Lord. We love every child. Amen. If I were to see a child that was drowning, I feel like I would take every effort that I have to save that child. To reach to pull that child out. Amen. Because God has given us that love towards all of them, that we would help them. Amen. But the love which I have toward my family is different. If I could just say it like this, amen. The love which I have toward my family is what makes me get up every morning and go to work. It's what makes me provide for my children. It's what drives me. Amen. And so while I am willing to do my best to help save that drowning child, it became the part of my family. There is no limit that I would not go to to save my family. And I preach to the brotherhood of believers. And I want to be a part of the family of God. Amen. The theme of 1 Peter seems to be the love of the brotherhood. Amen. 1 Peter's only five chapters. But in five chapters, it is mentioned at least five times. 1 Peter 1 and 2. See that ye have purified your souls and obeying the truth to the Spirit unto the unfeigned love of the brethren. See that ye love one another with a pure heart.

2 and 17, honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Three and eight, finally be all of one mind. Have the compassion one of another. Love as brethren. Hey, 1 Peter 4, 8 and 9. And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves. Fervent charity among yourselves. For charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 5 and 14, greet ye one another with the kiss of charity. The brotherhood of believers. I think you agree with me this morning that hail has always attempted to destroy the brotherhood. In the Garden of Eden, he showed up. And the division of the family began with a division of the brotherhood. Amen. Amen began when Cain rose up. And in his anger, he was angry against Abel. Hallelujah. The Bible told us that the firstborn son Cain looked over one day as they offered sacrifice. And he saw Abel's sacrifice being offered. And then Cain was envious, and jealousy rose up in his heart. And in a bitterness and in a rage, and jealousy, wrath, boiled over against his own brother. Abraham that I preached this morning concerning the brotherhood of believers. We must never allow envy and jealousy and sky wake and bitterness to begin to roll over in our heart. Jealousy. I understand that. Oh, but great God, the first murder. Amen took place between two brothers. Amen. The Bible said that Cain talked with his brother Abel. And it came to pass when they were in the field. The Bible said that Cain rose up against Abel, his brother, and slew him. And I wonder if the voice of God may not ask us this morning, where is Abel thy brother? Amen. Cain, I can almost see with his shoulders squared back and a haughty look on his face. Abel? Amen. I know not where he is. Amen. God told Cain, Amen, the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. The question, which echoes even now, is the question of Cain. Am I my brother's keeper? Am I my brother's protector? And I feel like from the word of God, we must understand we are the keeper of our brother. It needs to hedge about. It needs to protect, to attend to, to observe, to protect, to be a watchman. I like to preach this morning. It's the brotherhood of believers. Let's be a keeper of our brethren. Brotherhood of believers. Oh, hallelujah. When Gideon called up the Zebans out, Amen, he asked them, what manner of those were the men which you slew? And they answered and said, Each one was as thou art. They resembled children of the king. Amen. How many backsliders, amen, are in sin this morning? Amen. And they sat on the pew beside you. Each one is as thou art. They resemble children of the king. Amen. They know what you know. They've shouted with you. They've had victories with you. They've ran the altars with you. And Gideon said, They were my brethren. Even the children of my mother. If you have saved them alive, then when I have spared you.

Oh, I'm preaching this morning. The enemy has always attempted to destroy the brotherhood. Cain killed Abel. Esau and Jacob had a bit of a bitter rivalry. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery. Oh God. And Ashram hated his brother Amnon and slew him. And the prodigal son and his brother. And the elder brother came in from the field. And he said, What made this noise? What's that going on? And the servant said, Thy brother has come home. And thy father hath killed the fatty calf. And they're shaking and making merry. And the word of God said he was angry and would not go in. And I noticed that the father left the house at least twice. He left the first time for the prodigal. But he left the second time for the elder brother. And he came out and he spoke to the elder brother. And he said, It was meat that we should make merry. Well, thy brother has come. And that and that elder brother looked at his father and said, All these years have I served thee, and thou never gave us thee so much as a kid. And this thy son, he refused to call him brother. He said, This thy son, which has wasted his living with harness, as soon as he has come home, you've got a celebration.

But that's to my brother. I said that's too my brother. That's to my sister. Let me thank God that my brother came home. Thank God my sister made it back.

Brother, it's gone. But the privilege. Now, I noticed that the story ends. And we never know. Did the elder brother go in the house? Or did he stay outside? Oh, what a tragedy. Amen. But I do know this. The prodigal did make it back inside. Hallelujah. I don't want to preach too long. Amen. Let nothing be done to strive for vain glory. But in lowliness of mind, let each esteem the other better than themselves. Anyone got chickens here this morning? Amen. I'll notice that any time my wife desires to merge the flock, it must be done under the cover of nightfall. When the chickens are asleep. And then she smooths in so as not to disturb the flock. And she moves in and she sets all of those other chickens on the roost. Amen. Hoping that when the sun comes up the next morning, that the rest of the flock doesn't know that somebody was just added into the flock. Amen. Else they will establish a pecking order among them. Amen. We ought not be Christian chickens and have a pecking order, a stoutness among us. But let everyone esteem the other as better than themselves.

I'll take the answer to Cain's question. Am I my brother's keeper? Yes, you are. They're my brother. Bring them back. Put them back in here. We've still got room. We still have a place. Hallelujah. Amen. Those which have are lost. Amen. Those which have not yet known God. There is still a place for them to come as well. And so I noticed that hell has always attempted to ruin the brotherhood. But I also noted that Christ Jesus came into this world to restore the brotherhood with Satan destroyed. Amen. The devil got to work it, and the devil destroyed the brotherhood. And swords, amen, went up against their brother. But when Christ Jesus came, amen, he came to destroy the works of the devil and to reunite the brotherhood. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is. Amen. Then came the mother and the brethren of our Lord. And the multitude about him. And they said to Jesus, Thy mother and thy brethren are coming. And Jesus said, Who is my mother? Who is my brother? And you know what? Amen. He said, My mother and my brethren are they which do the wheel of my father. You know what Christ did? He opened the door to the brotherhood. They said you can be a brother in the family of God. I came to preach this morning. And what the devil tried to destroy. Let God through Jesus Christ restored. And they right again.

Oh, you're preaching. Amen. You're preaching. Oh God. From the words of Jesus Christ. Those who do the will of God are family. Amen. Glory to God. Hallelujah. Praise God. The Bible said that when Saul got saved on the road to Damascus, that man was Ananias. Ananias came to him. He said, Welcome to the family. He said, Brother Saul. You tell me what else? To take a man like Saul who by his own sword made him a child of some amen. They did all manner of things to persecute the church and destroy the brotherhood. But one day, because of Jesus, I fell up preaching the Egyptian. And lost Saul. He found his way into the family. Hey, the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood brought tax posters and fishermen and prostitutes and harlots and drug addicts and adulterers and fornicators and ungodliness. And he brought them all in. And he said, If such words from a you, but ye are watched. Ye are sanctified. Ye are justified. Welcome to the prophet of the believer.

One body. Oh, God. And all members have not the same office. So we being many are one body in Christ Jesus. And everyone members.

He came to restore the brotherhood. And I saw him beaten, bruised, bloody, and lying on the side of the street. And I saw him as the Levi passed by and looked over and passed by on the other side of it. And then I saw as the priest walked by and looked over and saw him and passed by on the other side of it. But I saw another man walking down the road. And when he looked over, notice we're the ones who gave him the title of good Samaritan. Jesus said a certain Samaritan. Hallelujah. I think there's three choices. The priest, the Levite, or the Samaritan. Hallelujah. And Jesus saw, and the Samaritan saw him and went to where he was. And I'm not going to preach the story. But he poured in the oil. And he poured in the wine. And he picked him up and put him on his own beast. And he carried him to the end. And he told the keeper. Said, here's some money. Amen. And when I've gone away, but when I come again, if there's anything left going, I'm going to pray for it. I think the Samaritan said, You can lean on me. I've got you, brother. I think the Samaritan was saying that you've been beaten. If you've been patterned, if you're blues, bruised and bloody, if the world's done you wrong, you can lean on me. I've got you, brother. I'll hold you up when you take all. Amen. I felt like I heard it in prayer this morning. Amen. Oh, if there's some of you here this morning, amen, that you were with that condition. You were the beaten, you were the battered, you were the wounded, you were the hurt, you were the looked over, the left out, the despised, the forgot about. Amen. Well, but thank God that Pastor Barry Lee walked by and he said, if you need to lean on somebody, you can lean on me. You can lean on me when it gets too heavy, when it gets too straight, when it gets too uncomfortable, lean on the brotherhood, lean on the church, lean on the cross. You can lean on Jesus. Amen. The song we sang with these children. We will roll the old chariot. You ever notice the profound meaning of some of those songs we sang to these children? I mean, is there a greater song than Jesus must be this side of it? One of the greatest songs every day. Hallelujah. We will roll the old chariot along. We will roll the old. You remember that? If the devil's in the way, we'll roll out over him. You remember that another verse? If the brothers in the way, we'll stop and pick him up. If the brothers in the way, we'll stop and pick him up.

And 1969, Rocky Lar. Rocky said with a bullet to my eye, I panicked in my chest. I had my grenade launcher launching grenades as fast as I could, not really knowing where they was landing. He said, We were getting hammered. Rocky said, Pastor Lee, when I put my head down for just a moment, an enemy grenade landed and hit my commanding officer in the back, and it rolled off of my officer's back, and it rolled down between my feet. And then it went off. Shrapnel exploded into the air, blowing off part of Rocky's foot, and shrapnel filling both of his legs. Rocky said, I came the walking wounded. I was hurt. I was wounded. He said, My sister company, our sister company, heard what was happening. And they battled through to come to where we was. And when they got there, half the company was dead, a wounded. And Rocky said, I was laying on the ground. They took me, they rolled me over on a poncho. He said 170 pounds of dead meat. He said they began to drag me through the woods back to the metabolic helicopter, dragging me all along. He said, and on we went. And finally the leftover. Sorry, I have to do that. We can't go any further. We gotta get you helicopters. We'll come back and get you. Drop yourself off for a moment. This is how he helps you. This will be helpful. Amen. And I am not friends in this at all. All men love the brotherhood. But this is Rocky's words. When out of the darkness there came two black hands. It reached down to where I was and picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. And a big, tall black man began to carry me the remaining two miles to the Medevac helicopter. They would go a little ways. And when he got so wet that he couldn't carry him, he sat him down, kept his breath, picked him back up. Rocky said, My blood stained his uniform. Got all over him. From the devil ongoing. But they finally made the two-mile journey back to the Menevach helicopter. That soldier laid Rocky down and turned and disappeared into the night. Rocky said, I don't know his name. I don't know where he came from. I've never seen him before or since. But he said that soldier understood this. That in the brotherhood of the war, blood is blood. That I made the preacher of Jesus. That's the brotherhood of believers. Blood is blood. Oh, great God. It was at Calvary. Sister, you want to come to the end, please. It was at Calvary. When the blood of Jesus Christ made perfect strangers. We need one another. I need you. And whether you want it or not, you need me. We need one another. Heard those two ports of times. They were trying to stay warm and it was cold. They got in and got close to one another trying to stay warm. They were shaking. Now and again they needed one another. But the point of the story is, even though they needed one another, they needed one another. You might sometimes get a little uncomfortable, but don't you forget? You need one another. That we're stronger. We were together. That felt for the brotherhood. Let's go for the church. Let's go for the family.

The brotherhood of believers. Amen. See? The brotherhood. Amen. But brother. Brother, brother, Brother Josh. Sister Shelley, we don't mind helping me give two dollars. Brother Josh, if you just stand up where you are, Sister Shelley, if you just move right over here. I'd like these two young sisters come right back here to the back. Amen. I'd like to see a move of God happen right here. Amen. I'd like to see God get in our mist and work among us. Amen. But what do we need? Hello, brother. It's great to see you. Amen. We need to start making our way. Amen. Back to the cross. Amen. See, we are all spread up. And we have all come from different walks of life. And we all have different experiences. Some of us backslid and went out on God and made it back. Others grew up in this. Amen. And they have never gone out. But some are here for the first time. And hearing, you see, we are all from different walks of life. But if we would begin to make our way towards the altar, amen. Amen. Right this way, please. And brother, right this way, please. Come, sister. Amen. If a family, amen, we've just been separated. Amen. That's right. Come on. If they would start making their way back to a family altar. If they would start making their way, did you see how the family is grown together by the cross and by the altar?

You felt yourself pulling away from one another. Pulling away from the church. Pulling away from the preacher. Pulling back from the altar. The further you get from the altar, the further you're getting from one another. The further you get from the cross, the further you're getting from one another. The further you get from your pastor. Hey, are you lost this morning? Do you want to get brought into this family?

I wonder if the prodigal son's father had mama set a table, a place at the table every evening. Just in case that prodigal son decided to come home. There's still a place at the table for you. You might be so hurt, but there's still a place at the Falls. There's still a healing for you. For your wounded heart. For your broken spirit. There's still a restoration. We're brothers around here. We're sisters around here. And if you need to lean on a church, you can leave.
