When we try to handle glory, we oftentimes end up mishandling people. We oftentimes end up mishandling ourselves. We oftentimes end up mishandling those who are closest to us. Why? Because when it becomes about us, when we become self-focused, then we are operating out of pride instead of out of humility. I am here at Purposeful Production, but also got a hoodie on. Y'all can't believe this is three, like three seasons, like crazy, crazy sauce. The fact that the Lord has allowed this to go on as long as it's gone on. And I just want to pause and say thank you. Thank you for every episode that you've watched, every conversation that you've been a part of. My hope and my prayer is that this has been a forum and a community that's helped you cultivate your voice to be able to talk about the real stuff, right? Like, and I'm not just talking about like on camera or on a platform or on a stage. If that's your thing, absolutely. Like clearly that's what I get to do. Uh, but I'm not just talking about in those moments. I mean, I'm talking about in your in your prayer time. I'm talking about if you're married with the conversations you're having with your wife or with your husband. I'm talking about as a mother or uh as a father with your kids. I'm talking about as a friend, having real, honest, open, transparent, and vulnerable conversations about where you're actually at and what God's actually doing in your lives. That's why we're here, y'all. If we're gonna be humble, if we're gonna really be about that 1 Peter 5, you know what I'm saying? That 1 Peter 5, 6 and 7, our anchor scripture for this show, then we have to bring that into every and any situation. And you can tell I'm fired up today because this topic, this was like, okay, I gotta, I gotta confess, I gotta confession. Before I really started the podcast, I like just on my phone, like literally my phone right here, I like just went through my notes and was like, here's some topics I'd love to cover at some point. And they were in no particular like order, right? Some of those, and some of them are, I haven't covered all of them that I've written down yet, but some of those are like more scripture Bible focused, right? You know, and you've guys seen me do a couple of those. Um, and then some of them are more like my story and like my journey. You know, I talked about last season my my health, which was honestly really hard for me, y'all. Like just want to say, like, if you would ask me two years ago, hey, will you ever talk about your health publicly? I'd have been like, heck no. So the fact that, you know, I have a doc on here, I did an episode where I talked about how I have diabetes, all of that. Like, that was that was a big moment for me to be vulnerable with you guys. Uh, but I digress. So anyway, I have this, I have this list of topics that I have either covered already or I want to cover with you guys. So some stuff that's just been brewing in my heart and in my mind that I really feel like um are conversations I wish people had with me back in the day. Um, that I feel like after living a little bit of life now, I would love to be your big brother, your uncle, whatever. And, you know, unc just sitting here and just be like, hey, I would love to help you further your understanding in this thing, right? So today, what I want to talk about, I want to get into this concept that I've heard my whole life. And when I say it, you're probably gonna be like, oh yeah, I've heard that before. But you ever like, you know, whether you're you're middle school, high school, even college, right? You know, you have these milestones that you hit. You have these different things that you're you're a part of. And then years later, you're reminiscing maybe with your spouse or with a friend of yours or maybe at church, and you'll say something like this, man, those were the good old days. Man, those were the glory days. Man, listen, I used to be, I played the linebacker back from my alma mater for my college, man. I used to be so fit, I used to be so fast. Like they couldn't get past me, bro. You know what I'm saying? Like I was out here, and we talk about it with this idea like that's the best it's ever been, and it'll never be like that again. What I want to talk to you about today is the glory days. And it's kind of a double entendre and a double meaning because some of us are trying to live in the glory days with the glory days. Some of us are trying to live in the glory days, D-A-Y-S with the glory, D-A-Z-E days. And even that word glory has a specific kind of double meaning as well. Because as we're thinking about the glory days, oftentimes, you know, the physical day itself, we often think about that as it relates to what we have done. Instead of thinking about the glory days as far as what God has done, right? If he is the one that gets all the glory, all the honor, all the praise, all of our adoration, then why are we talking about glory like it's ours? Why we talk about glory like it's something that we have done? And even if we got to be a part of it, again, maybe you have some accolades, maybe you have some things that you've been able to accomplish and do. Yay you, yay. But let's be honest, without the Lord allowing us to do that, whether you give him credit for that or not, we would not be where we are today. So what I want to talk to you about here briefly is just are you living in the glory days or are you reminiscing about the glory days? And with the glory days, do you have a glory days? Let's think, let's think about the the second one, D-A-Z-E, for a second. When you think about the word days, maybe what comes to mind is days to confuse, you know, the movie Days Confused, you know, or the concept, you know, of this like out-of-body experience, or like when you think of being in a daze, oftentimes there's a negative connotation to that, right? When you're in a daze, it's like you're disoriented, you're not really focused. Maybe there's some stress attached to that. And so oftentimes when you're in a daze, you know, I'm pretty sure I'm undiagnosed, ADHD. So when I feel like I'm in a daze and I have like some brain fog, I feel so disoriented for a second where I'm just like, I don't even know where I'm at, what I'm doing, who I am. And so when you're in a daze, oftentimes you question reality. Oftentimes you question who you are, you question what you're supposed to do. And for the believer in Jesus, maybe you're questioning what God has asked you to do in this season. And I just want to take a few minutes to just encourage you that we should not be reminiscing about the glory days. You can celebrate that for what it was, you can honor that season for what it was, but to be longing for that as if I miss that season so much that I'm willing to go back to it instead of focusing on what God wants to do now, we are missing the all things new, right? The scripture that talks about that God's doing all things new. We are missing the all things new aspect of our lives that God wants to do, what God stands ready to do for you and for me. So I just want to take a few minutes to talk about the glory days. And many of us have a glory days while we're thinking about the glory days. So a couple things that I have for you, I took a few notes because I just want to hit a few points, kind of rapid fire style for you. This aspect of the glory days, right? What we have to remember, and I touched on this a little bit, is glory belongs to God. Glory belongs to God. Like, think about this. We can't handle glory. We cannot. Glory makes us sick, glory makes us think about ourselves, glory makes us be out here wilding. Glory makes it makes us think that we've been able to accomplish all these things by ourselves without God. Glory makes people stand up on stages, you know, like on the Grammys or Academy Awards, and be like, you know, I'm saying I want to thank God, but I also want to thank me because I put in the work. I read the script, I wrote the song, I, I, I, I, I did all this to get me here. And it's like, dang, did you really give God the glory, even though you said that? Or is the glory going to yourself? And the reality is, y'all, when you think about it, we cannot handle glory. We cannot handle the weight of glory. Glory belongs to the one that created it. And the glory, the adoration, the honor goes to our king, goes to our creator, goes to our God. When we try to handle glory, we end up a lot of times mishandling people. We'll say that again. When we try to handle glory, we oftentimes end up mishandling people. We oftentimes end up mishandling ourselves. We oftentimes end up mishandling those who are closest to us. Why? Because when it becomes about us, when we become self-focused, then we are operating out of pride instead of out of humility. Again, humble, you see it behind me, where we talk about the real stuff, right? And if we're going to posture ourselves in this way, this is a part of it. We cannot have all the glory, we cannot have all the adoration, we cannot have all of the honor. All of that goes to God. Guys, we can barely handle praise. Think about this. We can barely handle somebody, but, hey man, good job. And be like, you know what I'm saying? You know, I mean, I did kind of do my thing a little bit. Stop. Like you were obedient to get up there. Yes, you practiced, yes, you rehearse, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But without God allowing you to even wake up today with the breath in your lungs, you wouldn't have been able to do nothing. You wouldn't have been able to do no thing today without the grace of God allowing you to do it. Glory belongs to the one who created us. And that is God Almighty. And we can't forget that when you're thinking about the glory days or maybe some things that have happened in your past, it's okay to put that in a category of those were some really great times. But to get stuck in that keeps us trapped and away from what God has ready for us to do in the present and in the future. Don't be trapped in the past. Be ready for what God has for us here and now. Here and now and in the future. So, okay, that's number one. Number two, real quick, real quick. What if the glory days are yet to come? Here's an interesting concept. We think of the glory days, right? In the in the simplest form of that, what I'm saying, where we make it about us. We think about that like it's something that's already happened, especially as you get older, right? Like the older you get, the more it's like, well, I guess the good old days were behind me. It's like, no, if you're still living, there is still more for you to do. I think about real quick, I don't know why this came to my mind, but I think about Toby Mack. You may know the artist Toby Mack. This man is, I believe he's 60. He might be 60 plus, but he's at least 60. This man at 60 years old is still rocking stages and performing. Why? Because he believes that he's not done. At 60, this man's still getting up on stages. And that's no disrespect to anybody that's like, hey, I've decided to retire and maybe focus on other things and not perform anymore and whatever. That that that's no judgment to them. I'm just saying for him, his mandate is deeper than even just being on stage. It's helping people see the glory, right, of God through his music, through his performances, right? So that man's still getting up there, he's still doing all the dance moves, he's still singing. And I'm like, this man's in his 60s. Like, we have no excuse, fam. Like we have no excuse. So what if I just want to submit to you right now, as we're having this conversation, what if the days that you think are behind you are actually yet to come? Or what if you're living in them right now? Oftentimes we don't realize some of the best times in our lives are the times that we're actually living in. I think about this all the time with my kids. You know, as a father, it's like we're often we're often thinking about, you know, the next day, the next week, the next season, the next blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's like, you know, that that's awesome. But what about now? You know, my kids are, you know, about to be in teenage years soon. And it's like, bruh, a lot of their years that they're going to remember are happening right now for us. When they're adults, they're going to remember these times. So for me to be thinking so futuristically that I miss out on the opportunity of now, because I either feel, well, their toddler years will never get those back. Yeah, you're right. We won't get those back. But also, we'll never get these years back either. So, what does it look like to lock in now? Fathers, mothers, what does it look like to lock in now? Uh, I'm about to take um next month, going to take my son on a, my oldest son, he's turning 13 next month, and we're going to go on a father-son trip. And this is something I've been planning for a long time. And it's going to be kind of a combo like rite of passage. Hey, you're going to, you're 13. I'm going to start treating you more like a man. We're going to have more manly conversations. Parenting style is going to change and shift a little bit. Like, there's a bunch of things attached to it. Like, hey, like you're going to start looking at girls, you know, hey, humble where we're talking about the real stuff, right? Like, we're going to have some real conversations about girls. And like, you see how I treat mommy, right? Like, this is so we're going to have some real man, manhood conversations at this uh this getaway that we're doing as father and son, this trip that we're doing. And so the reason why I bring that up to you is because I've been planning this for a long time as if, man, that day's coming. That day's now. Like that day's next month. And so what I'm saying is, let's not be so either either which way, and suck in the past, but also so futuristic, which is my problem all the time, that we're missing out on the now. What if the glory days are yet to come in a good way? Like, man, we have something to look forward to. And what if the glory days are right now? The glory days. Let's not be dazed in the glory days. Again, he gets all of the glory. So the glory belongs to him. So if I'm gonna call something a glory day, it's because I'm submitting that to the Lord. Okay, last one here. Last one here. So we've got glory belongs to God. Right, we've covered that. What if the glory days are yet to come? We just talked about that. The last one don't be dazed by your day. Don't be dazed by your day. Like I try to think of the simplest way I can say that that you're gonna walk away and be like, man, I I don't I don't need to be dazed by my day. So I hope that sticks with you because I really thought about like how to communicate that in a way that really just sticks in your mind. Don't be dazed by your day. What do I mean by that? Don't be walking around here just so disoriented by life that you are not locking in and focusing on the calling of God on your life. Don't be so dazed by the mundane things in life, by the things that just happen to us that we are not taking hold of and taking control of our lives. Now, when I say mundane things, I'm not saying like having rhythms of rest and like taking moments to just, you know, chill and maybe watch a TV show and hang out with your wife or your husband. I'm not talking about that, like those are good man mundane things. What I'm talking about is like apathy or, you know, a lack of purpose, right? You know, I'm at purposeful productions, right? You know what I'm saying? Like this is something that that me and Austin, the founder of Purposeful Productions, we talk about this all the time, like this idea of purpose, right? So some of us have a lack of, which we talked about before, a lack of purpose because we are walking around dazed. We are so out of it. It's like, man, I know God's calling me to do something, but I just can't ever get a break or I can't ever focus on on what he wants me to do. And we just walk around disoriented, discombobulated, and dazed. So much so that we're distracted. And then the enemy, as he comes to steal, kill, and to destroy us, is actually succeeding in that. By the way, I didn't mean for all a lot of those to be to start with D words. It just kind of worked out that way. But think about it, like the enemy wants to distract us, to distort our calling so that way he can destroy us. And many of us, the way that he's doing that, the mechanism and the pathway to how he's doing that in your life right now is you walking around dazed and disoriented. Don't walk around being dazed in your day. You, my friend, who are watching this, are full of purpose. You, my friend, who are watching this, are full of calling. You, my friend, are full of hope. You have the joy of the Lord. You have been set free. You have something that you are supposed to be doing in this earth. God has positioned you right now where you are, in your job, in your family, in your city, to be called according to his purpose and to accomplish the promises of God in this earth. Do not walk around dazed. Do not walk around confused. Do not walk around disoriented. Why? Because God has so much for you. And I know there's certain times in life where you just wake up and you're like, man, I'm just not feeling it today. Even in that, to submit that to the Lord is the best thing that we could do. To walk in humility is the best thing that we could do. To say, God, my day is yours. No matter how I physically feel or emotionally feel or mentally feel, my day is submitted to you. And so therefore, I may feel disoriented this week. I know I'm talking to somebody. I may feel beat up this week. I may feel like I can't go another day this week. And I feel a little dazed right now because at the time of my life that I thought, you know, by this point of my life, I thought I'd be further along and I'm not there yet. My friend, what I would submit to you is if there's still breath in your lungs, you're not done. And because you're not done, you don't have to be dazed in your day. So my prayer for you is as you you are hearing this today, my question to you, attached to all of that stuff, would just be what's an area in your life where you feel that way? What's an area in your life where you feel like you're walking around a little dazed, a little disoriented? What's an area in your life where you are reminiscing more on the past than you are in what God's called you to do now? In fact, are you trying to carry glory instead of being a mirror of that glory and reflecting it back to the Almighty? I would just encourage you with those three things that we've talked about to consider one of those, ask the Lord to reveal to you maybe where you're stuck in this season. Because I believe on the other side of this, on the other side of being stuck in the glory days, you can actually be stuck on his glory and focus on his glory in your day and not be dazed in your day. Guys, I hope that this is an encouragement to you. I only speak on topics that I've been able to walk out myself. So I don't speak from things out of theory. I don't try to speak on things because this is a good idea and I think it'd be great on the podcast. No, I speak about this stuff because I'm walking in the same journey as you. And there are many times where I could say I've tried to have all the glory to myself. I've been reminiscing on the past and I've been dazed in my day. But God, God has reminded me through great friends of mine. Some of them have been on the podcast already that you've seen. Um, great community, um, my church family, my amazing bride, who will be on the podcast at some point. Uh, we're talking about that. But uh, through all of my people in my life, they're reminding me, hey, Antoine, you have more to do. God has not given up on you yet. So don't give up on him because he will never give up on us. That's who he is. He has never left the righteous forsaken and left his son or daughter, left his seed begging for bread. So my prayer is that that sits with you today in a way that changes your life forever. And I'm I'm so happy and so glad that you're continuing on this journey as we are being humble. We're talking about our real stuff, our real journey, so that we can become more like Jesus each and every day. I hope that this episode blessed you today.
