It's coming up in Lewisburg 6/26 and 6/27!

SPEAKER_02

Hey, it's Matt Whitzel from Goat Rocks PA. I'm here with Terry Burke of the Union County Veterans Fourth of July Committee and Dave Waitovich. Did I get that right? You did. Waitovich from Geisinger. Yep. And uh there's a big celebration happening in Lewisburg this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, especially for our uh 250th. We were celebrating in a big, big way.

SPEAKER_02

It's the 4th of July celebration. Um it's the Union County Veterans 4th of July celebration. It's happening in Lewisburg this weekend, Friday and Saturday.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. We are the region's pep rally to the 4th of July. So we're a week ahead. Um, so it's always a great time. And this year we always have an awesome uh fireworks display. And this year, in part for you know by people like Geisinger and Wellspan and Wise and America 250 PA, we're adding a drone show this year. So you you you get the the kaboom and you get the drones. Yeah, and other order, actually. In in our order, we're gonna do drones first then kaboom. Oh, drones first and kaboom, okay. Hopefully no kabooms with the drones, that'll be very expensive.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a good good mixture.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so the the the ideal viewpoints uh for the drone show are at Wolffield uh in Lewisburg and Wise Markets. It's not like the fireworks show, which will go after the drone show. You have a 360 view of that, but the drone show really it's it's almost more two-dimensional. They do awesome things to make it look three-dimensional, but really the the ideal viewing place and the way it was meant to be seen is from Wise Markets and from Wolffield. And we'll have food vendors at Wolffield. Um, I believe Bigfoot will be over at Wise Markets, um, and then a lucky afternoon band at seven, and then when they tell us it's dark enough, um, on to our drones and fireworks.

SPEAKER_02

That sounds like a great day. So you get food, you get music, you get fireworks, you get drones. So uh uh a full day of fun on Friday. That's right. Full evening of fun, I should say. That kicks off uh what time?

SPEAKER_01

Uh five o'clock. Five and then seven for the band. Then you have more stuff coming up on Saturday, correct? Yep. So go home, get a quick, short good night of sleep, and then get back out to uh downtown Lewisburg at 10 a.m. for the Veterans Gallop Parade. Uh we have a scheduled flyover. Uh the parade is rain or shine. Um, so our our veterans and our country have endured uh way more than just a little bit of rain. So we can too uh get out there and celebrate the 250th. And uh what are the times for Saturday? So Saturday parade starts at 10 a.m. Um again, downtown Lewisburg. After the parade, some of our bigger bands will circle back um into Huffnagel Park and play uh mini concerts. There'll be more food there. And then at 1.30 and 3.30, North Shore Railroad is offering uh train rides. Um and it's the maiden voyage for the 250th unit. It's really, really cool uh locomotive. Really, really cool hand painted. The artist will be there if you want to meet him, ask any questions. Um, should be an awesome day. You get tickets for that train ride on our website, UCVeterans4th of July.org. So UCVeterans4th of July.org. You'll see a little all aboard thing on there, and then click, and then that'll take you to their website to buy tickets for that train ride.

SPEAKER_02

Sounds like a great weekend in Lewisburg to be celebrating America's 250th birthday, right? Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

Geisinger is proud to be a supporter and a sponsor of the event for the weekend. Uh, we get the opportunity here to, you know, live by the words of Abigail Geisinger, not just uh be outing there, out there taking care of people. But uh, you know, her quote was make my hospital right, make it the best. And part of making it the best is being able to celebrate the good times as well as take care of you on your worst day. So this is an opportunity for us to celebrate America 250, celebrate our community, and then also celebrate some of the expansions that we're doing with the growth of the Geisinger Tower that we're doing in Danville. And then also, too, we're excited with the opening of a cancer center right here in Low Space.

SPEAKER_02

Wow, okay. Well, it it sounds like it's uh it's gonna be a great weekend to be celebrating that.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

Well, Dave, thanks for coming by. Terry, thanks for coming by, and I hope to see you this weekend. Thanks so much.
